  6. Kringla Bakeri og Kafe in Epcot’s Norway Pavilion reopened after a lengthy refurbishment late last August. Kringla Bakeri og Kafe Among the returning classics to the spot were popular items like School Bread, Berry Cream Puffs, and Sweet Pretzels. As happy as we were to have those beloved snacks back, one question we asked — as did many DFB readers — was, “But where are the Troll Horns?” For those unfamiliar, Troll Horns are a slightly crunchy sugar-coated pastry horn-shaped shell filled with cloudberry jam and whipped cream. Troll Horn They are simultaneously rich in flavor with a mild sweetness (save for the sugar crystals covering the shell for an extra sweet punch) while also light and airy in texture. And they were a favorite for many DFB Readers. But I guess I can say they ARE a favorite… because it’s been announced that Troll Horns are back at Kringla Bakeri og Kafe! Now, we have confirmation for the Troll Horns. But, according to the Disney World online menu, other favorites may be back at Kringla as well. Currently we’re seeing items like the Snow Globe and the Cinnamon Loaf listed, too. We’ll be checking for you soon to confirm! Snow Globe But for now, head to Norway to grab your favorite Troll Horn (or try it for the first time, if it’s new to you) at Kringla Bakeri og Kafe! And let us know what you find there!! Take a Food Tour of the Norway Pavilion in our DFB YouTube Video! Are you happy to hear that the Troll Horns are back? Please let us know with a comment! 7. Now, more than ever, couples are celebrating their love at Walt Disney World Resort and including their friends and family in the fun. So after Tim Tebow and Demi-Leigh Nel-Peters announced their engagement Thursday, where did they want to go? Walt Disney World, of course! With friends and family along for the ride, Tebow, a professional athlete and sports analyst, and Nel-Peters took flight on Dumbo at Magic Kingdom Park and stopped in front of Cinderella Castle to meet another pair of lovebirds, Cinderella and Prince Charming. It was the first visit to Walt Disney World for Nel-Peters, a native of South Africa. “It’s special being able to celebrate here at Walt Disney World with her family and my family,” Tebow said. “Every day with her is more than I could have ever wished for.” If you’d like some magical ideas on how to tell your own love story at Walt Disney World, check out disneyweddings.com. 8. We stopped by Magic Kingdom’s Tortuga Tavern yesterday and happened upon a new addition to the menu. Tortuga Tavern This seasonally open Adventureland spot is currently serving Black Bean Chips with your choice of hummus: pineapple jalapeno, mango sriracha, or traditional. Tortuga Tavern Menu We ordered up our black bean chips with the pineapple jalapeno hummus. Black Bean Chips with Pineapple Jalapeno Hummus At $5.49 (or a Disney Dining Plan snack credit), we would’ve liked to have received a larger portion of the crunchy black bean tortilla-style chips. Black Bean Chips It would’ve been nice to have more to scoop up the pineapple jalapeno hummus, which really is tasty! The jalapeno delivered only a hint of heat, while the pineapple left the much more prominent aftertaste. Pineapple Jalapeno Hummus It will be interesting to see if the Black Bean Chips return to the menu. Remember, Tortuga Tavern is a seasonal location, and with both the holidays and the Walt Disney World Marathon Weekend wrapping up, it’s not listed with operating hours in the near future after tomorrow. But because crowds are always part of the consideration when planning trips to Disney World, we do seem to find Tortuga Tavern open more often than in the past, and we’ll keep an eye out to see the menu again soon… and maybe even try some of that Mango Sriracha hummus with those chips! Learn about navigating through peak crowd times in Disney World — when you’ll likely find Tortuga Tavern open — in our DFB YouTube Video! Do you stop by Tortuga Tavern when you see it open? The new Castle Cupcake located at Main Street Bakery is “inspired by the elegance and beauty of Cinderella Castle.” Castle Cupcake ©Disney The cupcake is “orange-scented,” according to Disney, and filled with gold and silver crispy pearls. In addition, each of these shakes comes in a cute souvenir cup. At Magic Kingdom Park, you can now find the Castle Cupcake inspired by the elegance and beauty of Cinderella Castle. In fact, Magic Kingdom will be kicking off a whole new party in the park on January 18th with Mickey and Minnie’s Surprise Celebration including the new Move It! Shake It! MousekeDance It! Street Party. Mickey in his 90th Birthday Celebration Costume Another way you can mark the occasion is with the Disney Gift Card Collector’s Series honoring 90 Years of Mickey Mouse. Mickey’s 90th Collector’s Series Gift Card And last night after checking out all the new Potion Purple snacks and merchandise in Magic Kingdom, we stopped by the Main Street Cinema Art Shop to get a closer look at it. Mickey’s 90th Collector’s Series Gift Card sign For $300, you receive one of the 5,000 premium gift cards in a display box. Peter Pan’s Flight will be closed for refurbishment through early February! Peter Pan’s Flight Refurbishment No details about the reason for the refurbishment have been released, but the closure is scheduled through February 2, 2019. 19. If you haven’t experienced Storybook Dining at Artist Point, I highly encourage you to make a reservation! I’ve visited a lot – ok, most – of the restaurants at Walt Disney World Resort, and this is one of my favorites. During your visit, you’ll dine in an enchanted forest setting inspired by Walt Disney’s “Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs” where you’ll meet Snow White, Dopey, and Grumpy, and of course enjoy some incredible food! If I could make a wish into a well, I’d ask for the Winter Squash Bisque to magically appear in my kitchen every night. While the food won’t last forever (and in my case not very long at all) the memories can! The Queen will be lurking nearby, and a Disney PhotoPass Service photographer will be there to capture a wickedly good photo of your encounter! Some advice: If she offers you a bite from an apple, I’d decline. But don’t worry, you can focus on avoiding her nefarious scheming and let the photographer focus on capturing the moment! You’ll also find Disney PhotoPass photographers at other participating dining locations across Walt Disney World Resort, including Cinderella’s Royal Table, 1900 Park Fare, Chef Mickey’s, Akershus Royal Banquet Hall, and more! And when you add Memory Maker to your vacation, you can take home all of your Disney PhotoPass photos, including those captured at Storybook Dining at Artist Point and other participating dining locations, select attraction locations, Character Experiences, and iconic locations across Walt Disney World Resort!* For more information and to book a reservation for Storybook Dining at Artist Point, visit the Walt Disney World Resort website or call 407-WDW-DINE (407-939-3463). Heigh-ho, it’s off to book another reservation I go! *Disney PhotoPass Service and Memory Maker are subject to the applicable terms and policies. Includes photos taken during the applicable Memory Maker Window as defined in such terms (generally, photos taken (i) within one day for Memory Maker One Day or (ii) within 30 days from the date of first activation for standard Memory Maker). If Memory Maker is purchased at the advance purchase price, any photos taken within 3 days of the date Memory Maker is purchased are not included and must be purchased separately. A MagicBand is required to receive certain attraction photos and other digital content. Online registration required. Disney PhotoPass Photos in your account will expire pursuant to the expiration policy. Downloads are restricted to personal use only. Not responsible for missing, lost or damaged photos. Subject to restrictions and change without notice. Valid theme park admission required for certain photo locations. View the full article

  22. Tonight’s “Disney Parks After Dark” image was snapped at one of my favorite nighttime offerings at Walt Disney World Resort – “Happily Ever After” at Magic Kingdom Park. This 18-minute show features more lasers, lights and projections than any other spectacular in Magic Kingdom Park history. It also features songs or characters from beloved classics like “The Little Mermaid” and “The Lion King,” to newer guest favorites “Moana,” “Big Hero Six” and “The Princess and the Frog.” Is “Happily Ever After” a must-do for you? 24. There’s a lot going on in Epcot! World Showcase is getting ready for a new nighttime show after IllumiNations ends, Japan is welcoming a new table-service restaurant, France is adding a Ratatouille Ride and Beauty and the Beast attraction, and a Guardians of the Galaxy ride is coming to Future World. That means lots of construction, construction walls, scrims, and more around the park. We checked on the progress of all of these projects on our latest visit to the park. Guardians of the Galaxy Ride Construction With one of the more colorful construction walls in the park — the Guardians of the Galaxy ride is coming along with the conversion of the former Universe of Energy building into the queue building for the new ride. Epcot Guardians of the Galaxy Ride Construction Update The solar panels have been removed and you can see through the entire building now. It also looks like some of the panels or accents on the side of the building are being removed or changed. Guardians of the Galaxy Ride Construction Behind the trees you can see some of the immense building that will house the actual ride — that is going to have some pretty revolutionary ride vehicles when it opens in 2021! Guardians of the Galaxy Ride Construction We learned at IAAPA (International Association of Amusement Parks and Attractions) that four Spaceship Earths could fit in this ride building! Almost all of the panels have been added to the outside of the ride building. Guardians of the Galaxy Ride Construction Epcot World Showcase Lagoon Construction Update In World Showcase you’ll notice construction on the islands in the lagoon. We are guessing this is work to prepare for the new nighttime show coming to Epcot later this year “Celebrate Epcot.” World Showcase Lagoon Construction World Showcase Lagoon Construction If you’re an IllumiNations fan, the Rose and Crown just announced a special dining package that includes Lagoon-front viewing of the show after a prix-fixe meal. Learn more about this special dining package here. World Showcase Lagoon Construction World Showcase Lagoon Construction Epcot France Pavilion Ratatouille and Beauty and the Beast Construction Update We’ve known for a while about the France Pavilion welcoming the Ratatouille ride from Disneyland Paris, but just learned recently at a D23 event about the Beauty and Beast Sing-Along attraction also opening here. France Pavilion Construction The Beauty and the Beast Sing-Along will debut “soon” according to Disney. Fans of the film Impressions de France in the pavilion don’t need to worry, the sign-along is being added to the pavilion, and not taking the place of the film. The Ratatouille ride, called Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure, will open in 2021. France Pavilion Construction Epcot Japan Pavilion New Table Service Restaurant Construction Update A new signature dining experience is coming to Japan! We don’t know much about this location yet, including an opening time frame. But we’ll keep you posted! New Table Service Restaurant Construction in Japan Pavilion Just as in the France pavilion, this new location is in addition to the current dining options and locations in the Japan pavilion, nothing is being closed or replaced. 25. I was recently sent into Disneyland park to capture photography of the Fortune Red and Esmeralda the Fortune Teller machines. I figured the project would take about an hour. I was wrong, but I love being wrong because in those moments because I learn something new. I went out around midday and didn’t have any trouble with Fortune Red. He’s tucked away in an evenly-lit corner of New Orleans Square. I was certain that reflections were going to be tricky with Esmeralda at that hour, but figured a well-timed group of passing guests could cast a shadow sufficient to yield a usable photograph – no luck. I went back out closer to dusk that day. Alas, while it was easier to see the character, I found reflections from street lamps almost as distracting as the glare of a midday Main Street, U.S.A. Then, I came back early the following morning and hoped I could get this picture in the can right after the park opened – the sun should still be low enough in the sky, I thought. I could see glare of morning sun crawling down the Penny Arcade wall as the clock struck 8 a.m. and the shop’s door began to slide open. I started snapping photos as soon as the door was open and enjoyed about 60-seconds of photography time before the sun was reflecting back at me. Success! Overcoming photographic challenges like this one are a really satisfying part of the work I do for Disneyland Resort. Best job in the world! View the full article
