Get Your Ears On at Disneyland Resort is a celebration of Mickey and Minnie Mouse, but since the celebration happens to fall during the Valentine’s Day season, there are a few Minnie Mouse-inspired treats that are all about love! Valentine’s Treats for Get Your Ears On The treats we found aren’t officially listed on the Valentine’s menu, but they’re already available to order, and this one is a MUST-GET! The Strawberry Cheesecake “Funnel of Love” Funnel Cake is a thick funnel cake that serves as a base for cheesecake filling, strawberry compote, and a whipped cream Minnie with a delicate chocolate bow. Strawberry Cheesecake “Funnel of Love” This Stage Door Cafe treat is then sprinkled with fluffy, creamy cheesecake croutons that are SO EXTRA. Strawberry Cheesecake “Funnel of Love” This is super rich and not for the faint of stomach — so grab a friend (or two or three!) and a stack of napkins. Strawberry Cheesecake “Funnel of Love” This is too insane to pass up. Get it on your Disneyland list! If the question is “are we full yet”, the answer is no! There are more Get Your Ears On treats still to come! These (and more) Valentine’s Day treats are available from January 22 through mid-February! We previewed ALL the amazing Get Your Ears On treats at Disneyland! Click here to check them out! And keep an eye on our Get Your Ears On Disneyland Food Reviews page for all of the full reviews in one place! Which of these fruity, lovely treats would you dig into first? Tell us in the comments! The Get Your Ears On celebration is in full effect in Disneyland Resort, the Grand Californian Hotel and Spa is joining the party with two awesome eats! Our Disneyland correspondent Heather (killin’ it @DiningInDisney!) found a few soft open items yesterday — including this Mickey Shaped(?) Pizza at Hearthstone Lounge! Mickey Pizza Cut to us being a little disappointed that the pizza is not, in fact, Mickey shaped. Mickey is only represented via pepperoni here (no ACTUAL Mickey-Shaped pizza like you’ll find in the International parks), but Heather says the quality of this pizza makes up for the lack of overall Mickey shaped pie. Mickey Pizza The crust is thin and super crispy, and it’s cooked so well. Overall: awesome pizza, not Mickey-shaped, but we’re okay with it! Mickey Pizza Hearthstone Lounge hasn’t slouched on the sweetness, bringing this Mickey Baked Alaska to the party! The main mouse is front and center in white chocolate with dark chocolate ears. Mickey Baked Alaska Mickey’s face is pressed into some lightly toasted meringue, which encases chocolate ice cream atop a decadent chocolate, brownie-like cake. Mickey Baked Alaska This is a really fun, miniature version of the classic dessert. And while it didn’t knock Heather’s socks off, it was something different from the usual theme park treat. Also everything is better with Mickey, right? Mickey Baked Alaska If you’re at the Grand Californian, don’t forget to try these two Get Your Ears On, limited time offerings! We previewed ALL the amazing Get Your Ears On treats at Disneyland! Click here to check them out! And keep an eye on our Get Your Ears On Disneyland Food Reviews page for all of the reviews in one place! Which would you choose: pizza or baked Alaska? Tell us in the comments! (FYI: It’s totally acceptable to choose both!) Related posts: New! Halloween Time Treats at Disneyland’s Grand Californian Hotel! Even though we just kicked off the 2019 Epcot Festival of the Arts, we’re simultaneously looking forward to the second Festival of the Epcot year: the 2019 Epcot Flower and Garden Festival! Epcot’s Flower and Garden Festival Topiaries Just this past week, we shared that a new topiary would be joining the displays in Future World East, themed to the upcoming Disney-Pixar film, Toy Story 4. Flower and Garden Festival Buzz Lightyear Returning topiaries will include — among many others — Anna and Elsa in the Norway Pavilion, the beautiful Bromeliad Dragon in China, and Lady and the Tramp in Italy. Bromeliad Dragon Topiary in Epcot’s China It’s also been revealed that Mickey and Minnie will be enjoying a picnic with topiary hearts at Showcase Plaza, and Miss Piggy and Kermit the Frog will be located in the France Pavilion. Garden Displays and Exhibits Remember to keep your eyes peeled for (or find, with the help of your Flower & Garden Festival Passport) special Gardens and Exhibits celebrating nature and all things that bloom! Some will be located near the Outdoor Kitchens (the Festival’s food booths) showcasing fresh ingredients for the Kitchens, while other exhibits will include the new Penguin Sculpture presented by DisneyNature which will be created from repurposed trash pulled from the oceans. You’ll see this new sculpture at Future World West. Garden Displays And from March 8-10, guests can take up paint and stencils to create artwork at Barrels by the Bay. The barrels will be Coke Florida syrup receptors, “recycled to protect community waterways from storm water runoff pollution.” It will be located near Mouse Gear. The Family Play Zone near Taste Track will feature more Toy Story 4-themed fun with the announced Toy Story 4 topiary. And favorite returning exhibits will include the Bonsai Trees in the Japan Pavilion, the English Tea Garden presented by Twinings of London, and the Garden Butterfly House. Family Play Zone Guests will also be able to check out the Purple Martin Garden “as they soar to and from their nests in our purple martin bird houses. These amazing migratory birds flew over 3,000 miles from the Brazilian Amazon to raise their families” at Epcot! Cast mMmbers from Disney’s Animal Kingdom will share their knowledge with guests on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 11:00 AM. Tours Guests looking to enhance their visit to the Festival with more in-depth presentations will want to keep in mind the following extra-ticket tour options — some of which are offered only during the Flower & Garden Festival and some year-round tours that are enhanced for the Festival: the Behind the Seeds Tour, the Royal Tea Garden Tour, the English Tea Garden Tour presented by Twinings, and the Spring edition of the Gardens of the World Tour. I think it’s safe to say that Main Street Bakery is BACK when it comes to cupcakes. Castle Cupcake Back in the day — before it became Magic Kingdom’s Starbucks location — Main Street Bakery was home to an absolute favorite: the Peanut Butter Cupcake. But for a while the cupcake selection became rather humdrum… definitely not a place to stop if your primary goal was obtaining a stellar cupcake. But over the past several months, the Main Street Bakery has served up a string of cupcakes that are as tasty and creative as they are lovely to look at. (Case in point: last summer’s Mermaid Cupcake.) And I’m happy to report that the trend continues with the new Castle Cupcake! Castle Cupcake Obviously, it’s pretty, from the white chocolate Cinderella Castle topping the champagne buttercream garnished with gold and silver candy pearls. But it doesn’t stop there… Castle Cupcake Despite its yellow color, the cake base itself is orange flavored. And the surprise inside echoes the latest cupcake trend, with this version spilling out even more of those shiny candy pearls. Castle Cupcake Even though the look of the whole thing will draw the eye, it’s also a genuinely delicious cupcake with a super moist texture and flavor burst from the unexpected orange. I can’t wait to see what Main Street Bakery comes up with next! Don’t Miss Out on Any Disney Fun! The 2019 DFB Guide to Walt Disney World Dining is now available! Guests staying at the All Star Resorts — Sports, Movies, and Music — should definitely make a point to peruse the bakery cases in the Resort food courts. Themed character cupcakes of late have included the Cheshire Cat Cupcake at All Star Music’s Intermission Food Court. And now we’re back at the very same spot to try this month’s Merida Cupcake! Merida Cupcake A note before we dig in… you’ll notice that the sign underneath the Merida Cupcakes in the bakery case reads “$5.49” for the price, but I was actually charged $5.99, so there seems to be an error on the sign (unless I was mischarged). Merida Cupcakes in the case Themed after the heroine from Brave, you’ll spot a tribute in buttercream icing to Merida’s brightly hued, curly hair. It’s layered over more vanilla buttercream which is colored green with a chocolate arrow (in two pieces) right from Merida’s bow piercing through it. Merida Cupcake The cake’s base is chocolate, and inside you’ll find a Merida-inspired selection of sprinkles toppling out when you cut or bite into the cupcake. Merida Cupcake The simple flavors contrast the unique appearance of the cupcake, making it perfect for all the wee little Meridas visiting Disney World! Which character would like to see Intermission Food Court commemorate with a cupcake next? Don’t Miss Out on Any Disney Fun! The 2019 DFB Guide to Walt Disney World Dining is now available! It’s time to Get Your Ears On in Disney California Adventure Park, and Schmoozies! is ready to fuel the celebration with even more sweet treats! We already gave you a peek at the Minnie Cronut, and now we’re back with more! Schmoozies! The Mickey Cookies ‘n’ Cream Shake with “90” Sprinkles is super clever. And it’s tasty, too! Mickey Cookie’s ‘n’ Cream Milkshake How much do we love the red rim and the buttons? SO. MUCH. Mickey Cookies ‘n’ Cream Shake There’s plenty of stuff going on here — including those Oreo Mickey ears! — but it melted really fast, and the flavor wasn’t as dense and rich as we were hoping. It’s good, but it isn’t great. It wins a ton of points for looks, though! Mickey Cookies ‘n’ Cream Shake On the other hand, the Mickey Cronut is fab-u-lous! This is a massive cronut topped with bright red and black glaze, sprinkles, and Oreo ears. Mickey Cronut We love the simplicity of the materials and the way they totally capture Mickey’s look. Plus, they’re all sweet to contrast with the buttery cronut. Mickey Cronut But there’s a surprise inside because the Mickey Cronut is filled with apple filling! This is like an awesome apple turnover — with ears! Mickey Cronut At $8.99 the price is a little steep here, but the quality is great, and it’s definitely big enough to share. And really, isn’t Mickey worth it? We’ve got the skinny on all of the treats coming to Disneyland Resort to Get Your Ears On. Check out our preview here! Do you want to dig into these treats? Epcot’s Sunshine Seasons did it again! We were there to enjoy a quiet moment before the Festival of the Arts Food Booths opened, and guess what we found — the most artistic mini-cake we’ve ever seen! Festival of the Arts-inspired Seasonal Dessert at Sunshine Seasons This little treat is not officially a part of the festival, so don’t look for it your Festival Passport. The big question, did this taste as good as it looked? First of all, we love the Jackson Pollock inspired decoration and presentation. This stark white plate is splattered with food coloring, as is the white-iced mini cake. Seasonal Dessert The detailed decorations are fun as well with a painter’s palette and paint brush both made with peanut butter flavored fondant. The paint brush’s handle is a pretzel stick. It was a nice (and yummy) change to enjoy some flavor in the fondant decorations instead of the usual plain sugar taste you usually get with fondant. Festival of the Arts Inspired Mini Cake Inside, the mini cake is made with a yellow cake, not that you can tell, since it is colored with a multitude of food colors! And all that white frosting — it isn’t vanilla — it is peanut butter flavored buttercream frosting! Festival of the Arts Inspired Mini Cake Did we like this? Peanut butter flavor, buttercream, moist cake, and so fun to look at and photograph. We LOVE this mini-cake. We had it for breakfast…and are considering having it for dinner tonight as well! Festival of the Arts Inspired Mini Cake This is a super-fun and delicious cake that we hope sticks around throughout the entire run of the festival. The first Epcot Festival of 2019 has officially begun! Today kicks off the third annual Epcot Festival of the Arts! Today through February 25, 2019, three artistic disciplines — Visual, Performance, and Culinary — will be celebrated in special art exhibits, participatory activities and photo ops for guests, complimentary seminars and extra-ticketed interactive workshops, and performances including the Disney on Broadway Concert Series. Today, we’re focusing — naturally! — on the Culinary Arts! You can find these at Food Studios around the World Showcase, which, like the Marketplace Booths for the Food and Wine Festival, bring new tapas sized dishes and unique drinks to the park. Additional items are also added to permanent locations in Epcot. Visit our Food Studios Page to see pics of EVERY DISH at the Festival of the Arts! And we’re trying them ALL to bring YOU the items you’ve got to try at the Epcot Festival of the Arts! You can see pictures of every item by visiting our Food Studios page. But right now? Check out our… BEST OF THE FEST!! Here are our favorite food and drinks from the day! Crème de Brie en Petit Pain at L’Art du Cuisine Francaise – France We found a top booth winner at L’Art du Cuisine Francaise – France! This was the only booth from the festival that garnered a thumbs up for every menu item from our taste testers! Crème de Brie en Petit Pain: Warm Creamy Brie in a House-made Bread Bowl The presentation of this dish is adorable. And we were wowed by the delicious flavor as well! Charcuterie Palette with Artisan Cured Meats and Cheeses at The Masterpiece Kitchen We always love a Charcuterie board and we found this palette featuring Nueske’s Applewood Smoked Beef at The Masterpiece Kitchen. Charcuterie Palette While the palette lacked crackers or bread, which made it awkward to eat, the items presented were still delicious. Chocolate and Beer Pairing Flight at The Artist’s Table The Artist’s Table features a pairing of beer with chocolate! Chocolate and Beer Pairing Flight The Framboise beer and chocolates were surprisingly good. Callebaut Belgian Sipping Chocolate Flight at The Artist’s Table It’s back! Don’t pass up the Callebaut Belgian Sipping Chocolate Flight at The Artist’s Table. Callebaut Belgian Sipping Chocolate Flight Thick. Decadent. Basically, take three chocolate bars — White, Milk, and Dark — and melt them down. Then drink them. Yeah — it’s like that. Frosé at Cuisine Classique At Cuisine Classique, we sampled the A Play on Rosé Flight. Frosé It was the Frosé itself that was the real stand-out! The other flight offerings were a bit pedestrian. Sopes de Chilorio at El Artista Hambriento (The Hungry Artist) The Slow-braised Pork marinated in Ancho Chili Paste is served on Fried Corn Dough with Black Beans, Queso Oaxaca, Crema Mexicana, and Salsa Verde at El Artista Hambriento (The Hungry Artist). Sopes de Chilorio Crispy on the outside and soft on the inside, the fried corn dough here was really good! Wild Mushroom Risotto at Masterpiece Kitchen Guess what’s back at Masterpiece Kitchen? The Wild Mushroom Risotto with Aged Parmesan, Truffle Shavings, and Zinfandel Reduction! This has been on the Best of the Fest list for a couple of years now. A vegetarian classic that’s SO rich and delicious…a little goes a long way. Barbabietole Dolci, Caprino Fritto at L’Arte di Mangiare — Italy Roasted Candied Beet Salad with Goat Cheese Fritters were served at L’Arte di Mangiare — Italy. Barbabietole Dolci, Caprino Fritto Roasted Candied Beet Salad with Goat Cheese Fritters The salad part of this dish was fine but the Goat Cheese Fritters were amazing! Lobster Bacon Macaroni & Cheese served in a Warm Bread Cone at Taste Track Taste Track keeps surprising us! Lobster Bacon Macaroni & Cheese served in a Warm Bread Cone Although we preferred the cheeseburger handwich offered at the Epcot Food and Wine Festival two years ago, this Lobster Mac and Cheese cone was quite tasty. It’s Lobster Mac and Cheese. What could possibly go wrong? Dragon and Phoenix at The Painted Panda — China Beautifully presented, the Spicy Sautéed Shrimp with Spinach Noodles are served at The Painted Panda — China. Dragon and Phoenix: Spicy Sautéed Shrimp with Spinach Noodles This dish was a little bit spicy and the shrimp was awesome with a super light “tempura” style batter. The noodles had a spicy rub that made them a star in the dish. Sushi Donut at Takumi Table — Japan What’s a Sushi Donut, you ask? Well of course it’s donut-shaped Sushi featuring Salmon, Tuna, Shrimp, Avocado and Masago accented with Citrus-soy Gelée and Wasabi on the side at Takumi Table. Sushi Donut While the citrus soy gelee tasted smokey, it was interesting and delicious — definitely unexpected, but added a lot to the dish.. We really liked the variety of salmon, shrimp, and tuna. Salted Caramel Funnel Cake at Funnel Cakes (American Adventure) Salted Caramel Funnel Cake at the Funnel Cakes kiosk in American Adventure. The salted caramel ice cream was the winner here. While there’s not TOO much unique happening on this funnel cake, we still couldn’t stop eating it. More than meets the eye? Lemon and Blood Orange Tart at Decadent Delights Decadent Delights featured two of our favorites. First up, the Lemon and Blood Orange Tart! Lemon and Blood Orange Tart With great flavors and good texture, this very tart/sour delight should be on your must try list. Florida Orange Groves Winery Black and Blue Port at Decadent Delights Another winner at Decadent Delights, we think you should pair your tart with the Florida Orange Groves Winery Black and Blue Port! Florida Orange Groves Winery Black and Blue Port With a strong, tart raspberry flavor it had a lot of body and was an unexpected favorite of the taste-testers! Best of the Fest that Wasn’t at a Booth Seasonal Dessert at Sunshine Seasons At Sunshine Seasons, the seasonal dessert features yellow cake with peanut butter buttercream filling. Seasonal Dessert This uses the same buttercream that we found on the flower pot cupcake and the snowman cupcake from this past holiday season — lightly peanut butter flavored and truly delicious! Festival of the Arts Inspired Mini Cake A gorgeous concoction that was one of our favorites…even though it wasn’t on the menu at any booth! Best of the Fest for Kids Paintbrush Churro at Taste Track Cinnamon Sugar Churros Dipped in Colorful White Chocolate are fun for all ages (especially kids!) at Taste Track. Paintbrush Churros We love these dressed up churros. Best of the Fest for Instagram Glitter Beer at Pop Eats #RainbowSherbertGlitterDreamAle by Playalinda Brewing Co. wins for Instragram photos. You’ll find it at Pop Eats. While we weren’t huge fans of the taste, this beverage is definitely insta-worthy. Best of the Fest — Honorable Mentions Costine di Maiale Aceto Balsamico at L’Arte di Mangiare — Italy At L’Arte di Mangiare, the Sweet & Sour Balsamic-glazed Pork Ribs certainly had potential. Costine di Maiale Aceto Balsamico: Sweet & Sour Balsamic-glazed Pork Ribs The glaze was awesome though the ribs could have been better. Maybe they’ll be running on all cylinders when you visit! Weirdest of the Fest Tomato Plum Cocktail at Booth Plum Wine with Plum Infused Tomatoes?! Yep, it’s at The Painted Panda. Tomato Plum Cocktail: Plum Wine with Plum Infused Tomatoes Peeled cherry tomatoes are soaked in plum wine and then more plum wine was poured over them. One taste tester noted that it tasted like a red jolly rancher! Let us know what you think! Find ALL the information for the Epcot Festival of the Arts here! Visit our Food Studios Page to see pics of EVERY DISH at the Festival of the Arts! There is a world of new snacks all over Disneyland Resort for Get Your Ears On — A Mickey and Minnie Celebration! The event started today, and — as is the happy case for many other Disneyland Resort special events — specialty CHURROS make up some of the additional offerings around the parks for the occasion. Willie’s Churros So we’re at Willie’s Churros in Disney California Adventure to try the Caramel Corn Churro. Caramel Corn Churro sign Your classic churro is dusted with corn cereal sugar, then further topped with both salted caramel AND caramel corn. Caramel Corn Churro The appearance is striking right off the bat! (So be prepared to answer questions from fellow guests asking where you got it . ) But more importantly, the rather unexpected combo works! Not only is it a great balance of sweet and buttery flavors, but the texture — which is what we were most concerned about — is actually awesome! The popcorn pieces simply enhance the crunch of the outer crispy layer of the fried churro. Caramel Corn Churro The Caramel Corn Churro. Who even knew we needed this in our lives? The fine folks at Disneyland, that’s who. Stay tuned, friends, because there are A LOT MORE SNACKS where this came from! Check out the full list of Get Your Ears On Eats here! How does THIS get any better? Steamboat Willie Caramel Apples Here’s how! Check out MICKEY with the Steamboat Willie Caramel Apple! Mickey Mouse with Steamboat Willie Caramel Apple This treat — available at Candy Kitchens in Disneyland Resort like Trolley Treats in Disney California Adventure and Candy Palace in Disneyland — is one of, like, a bajillion adorable food items available to guests in Disneyland Resort during the new event that just started today: Get Your Ears On — A Mickey and Minnie Celebration! Steamboat Willie Gourmet Apple This nod to Mickey’s debut on November 18, 1928 in Steamboat Willie is, of course, Mickey Mouse approved. Thumbs Up from Mickey! It’s also DFB approved, because the mix of white and dark chocolate that covers the caramel apple is such a classic hit… just like Mickey himself! Note that it’s a bit messy due to the sugar on the bottom half of the apple which makes up Mickey’s shorts, but the whole thing is SO totally worth it. LOVE IT! “I hope we never lose sight of one thing… Mickey with Steamboat Willie Gourmet Apple …that it was all started by a MOUSE!!” — WALT DISNEY See the full list of all the eats for “Get Your Ears On” — A Mickey and Minnie Celebration here! But, y’all: this treat is going to blow your mind! It’s Mickey’s Chocolate Cup and Brownie, and it’s awesome! Mickey’s Chocolate Cup and Brownie First of all, just look at that happy little mouse. He’s excited because his Chocolate Cup and Brownie are like three cool treats in one: chocolate, rich brownie, and grey stuff-like cream! Mickey’s Chocolate Cup and Brownie The chocolate brownie base is rich — so unless you’re a major chocolate lover, you might want to plan to share this one (or get yourself a bottle of milk to go along with it!). Mickey’s Chocolate Cup and Brownie And the chocolate cup is packed to the ears with cookies-and-cream — kind of like The Grey Stuff! It’s smooth and creamy — so good and such a neat presentation! All eyes in Epcot are on World Showcase Lagoon in 2019, because IllumiNations — the beloved fireworks, laser, and light show — is scheduled to end in the second half of the year. And to make the most of the final nights of the show, Rose & Crown Pub and Dining Room in Epcot’s United Kingdom is now offering Illuminations Dining Packages! Rose and Crown Pub and Dining Room Tonight is the first official night of this dining package which includes three courses and a patio seat for the big show! And thanks to DFB’s Travel Agent partner, Small World Vacations’ Sue P., who happened to get a preview last night — we’ve got everything you need to know about this unique dining experience BEFORE it officially begins! Atmosphere The IllumiNations dinner takes place on the patio at Rose & Crown, giving diners a sweeping view of World Showcase Lagoon (and IllumiNations!). View from the patio at Rose & Crown The venue for this special event holds about 40 guests. And while patio seating is guaranteed for diners who’ve purchased the package, we’re told there will still be some limited space for other diners who time their meals just right! Eats The prix fixe menu for IllumiNations is a three-course dinner featuring some of Rose & Crown’s most popular menu items. Unlimited alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages are included in the dining package, and for this there is a full menu that includes the event’s signature beverage – the Sparkling Duchess. Beverage menu The Sparkling Duchess is a combination of prosecco, elder flower liqueur, mint, ginger ale, and boba balls. It’s sparkly, tasty, and a little fancy with those edible pearls. Sparkling Duchess Dinner begins with a choice of an appetizer: Rose & Crown’s famous Scotch Egg or a traditional Cheese Platter. Enjoy a traditional Scotch Egg at the IllumiNations dinner We actually love BOTH of these, so either one is a perfect choice. Cheese Platter These are followed by a choice of entrées such as Rose & Crown’s signature Fish and Chips, served with ketchup and tartar sauce. This is an excellent and authentic choice. Fish and Chips If you’re looking for some real comfort food from across the pond, Corned Beef and Hash is a terrific choice. Corned Beef and Cabbage If you’re aiming to eat healthy, consider Pan-Roasted Scottish Salmon with lots of vegetable sides. Pan-roasted Scottish Salmon And finally, what’s a British menu without Bangers and Mash? Ooh, we are ready for it! This is almost always my choice at Rose and Crown! It’s delicious, savory, and just the right portion size. Bangers and Mash Dessert is the Pudding Platter Trio featuring Sticky Toffee Pudding, English Trifle, and Chocolate Nougat Bar. Such a fun way to try several English classics all at once! Pudding Trio Platter Kids participating in the dining package can enjoy a soup (including the yummy Potato Leek Soup!) or salad with their choice of Cheese and Turkey Flatbread, Turkey Meatball Pasta, Cheesy Pasta, or Fish and Chips as well as either Fruit Salad or Trifle for dessert. Potato Leek Soup And, of course: the view. This is a beautiful way to end the day at Epcot! Fish and Chips with a view The IllumiNations Dining Package officially begins tonight, and booking is available via the Disney World website or by calling (407) WDW-DINE. The price is $85 for adults and $35 for children (tax and gratuity included). Epcot admission is required but not included. Huge thanks to Sue for sharing these photos with us!
