We’ve had a busy weekend checking out all of the tasty treats at the 2019 Epcot International Festival of the Holidays! American Adventure And we’ve seen a bunch of good eats LIVE around the World Showcase, but we’ve spotted one that’s DEFINITELY the biggest and it’s not exactly for eating. The gingerbread display is found in the American Adventure attraction building in the American Adventure pavilion and features a whole bunch of iconic monuments! American Adventure Gingerbread Display There’s a sweet version of the United States Capitol Building complete with an intricate white chocolate dome and pretty Christmas decorations. United States Capitol Next door to the Capitol building is the adorable (sorry not sorry) Lincoln Memorial, featuring a chocolate statue of Honest Abe himself sitting inside! Also how do they get the lighting like that?!? Lincoln Monument You can also spot the Jefferson Memorial with its super distinctive circular design. Look at that marbling! Washington Monument Honestly, we’re not even sure how this thing stays standing but boy, is it nice to look at! Washington Monument This display contains six hidden Mickeys so keep an eye out when you’re checking it out! Not too sweet, you’ll definitely taste the tequila in this little firecracker, while the mango gives this drink the little bit of zip! Zam! Zoom! you’ve been looking for! While eating our way around this year’s Festival of the Holidays we stopped by the France Pavilion for one of our fav holiday treats. We’ve seen a lot of returning favorites show up at this year’s festival in World Showcase, but this classic holiday treat has a new (old!) twist for 2019! The Buche de Noël is a traditional Christmas yule log treat that you can find in patisseries across France. So it’s no surprise that this holiday favorite found its way to Les Halles Boulangerie Patisserie in the Epcot’s France Pavilion. Last year when we reviewed the Bûche de Nöel au Chocolat, it had a tasty mint flavor, but Disney did a major switch-up this time, reverting BACK to an older version. Oh yea…and it LOST that adorable meringue mushroom we loved! MAJOR sad face there! Though the appearance of the Buche de Noël remains the same, we tasted a very noticeable ORANGE FLAVOR this year! If you are a fan of a chocolate/orange flavor combination (YUM), this pastry will be a major win for you. Just a few years ago, this was the flavor of the treat, so it looks like mint is out and orange is in! It’s quite rich due to all the orange chocolate mousse and has a crunch from a chocolate biscuit (cookie) hiding in the bottom. If you find yourself in Disney World this holiday season, head to Les Halles in World Showcase and check out the newest edition of the classic holiday treat for $6.75! Check out ALL the food at this year’s Festival of the Holidays HERE! Do you like it when Disney switches up the flavors of their classic treats? Or do you prefer they stay the same? Kon’nichiwa from the 2019 Epcot International Festival of the Holidays! Japan Pavilion at Epcot We’ve been sampling our way around the globe at this year’s holiday kitchens! Now we’re turning our very full stomachs and attention towards Shi Wasu! Located in the Japan Pavilion at Epcot’s World Showcase, Shi Wasu Holiday Kitchen is a returning festival booth this year celebrating traditional dishes you’ll find in the Land of the Rising Sun! Shi Wasu Holiday Kitchen Take a peek at this year’s menu… Shi Wasu Menu Did we read that right? A Chirashi Tree Sushi?!? Oh boy! This is gonna be FUN! Food This year, we’re seeing a variation of the popular New Year Celebration Soba from last year! New Year Celebration Soba For $7.25 the dish no longer features meat, but still comes with a heaping cup of buckwheat soba noodles in hot dashi broth with vegetable tempura and chopped green onion! While we thought the noodles had a nice texture, our tempura was way soggy and not very flavorful which was kinda a bummer compared to last year’s version which was a winner. New Year Celebration Soba Close Up And here’s Shi Wasu’s brand new item — the Chirashi Sushi Tree! It features tuna, salmon, ikura and yellowtail sashimi with vegetables served on a bed of rice, and decorated like a Christmas tree! Chirashi Sushi Tree But, like, really though — how stinkin’ cute is this little sushi Christmas tree? We can’t stop staring at it! It’s a pretty good size for $6, but the flavors aren’t much of a standout. We love the dish for its looks, but it’s definitely style-over-substance on this little cutie! Chirashi Sushi Tree Last year’s Green Tea Yule Log has been replaced with a Matcha Creme Brûlée for $5.75. This dessert features creamy green tea custard with a caramelized sugar crust and is topped with mochi, red bean jam, and fresh strawberries! The matcha flavor isn’t very strong which might help folks who don’t like green tea as much enjoy it, while matcha lovers might be a little disappointed. Plus the texture was a little grainy. Matcha Crème Brûlée Drinks As for beverages, we’re seeing the return of the Sapporo Draft Beer for $4.25 and the Ichigo Milk Boba for $5.25. Ichigo Milk Boba Subbing in for last year’s Cinnamon Apple Cider is the new, inventive Tsubaki Whiskey Sour for $7.75. This twist on a traditional sour features plum wine in addition to the whiskey, cranberry juice, sugar, and lemon –yum! We thought the sour drink had a nice balance to it and would be perfect if you’re lookin’ for something not-to-sweet to go with all those cookies you’ve been munching! Subaki Whiskey Sour Check Out All Menus For The 2019 Epcot International Festival of the Holidays! Overall Shi Wasu is an exciting booth to visit every year at Epcot’s Festival of the Holidays, and we’re happy to report that this year is no exception! Make sure you stop by this holiday kitchen to grab some Japanese eats — including one of the most adorbs foods we’ve seen so far at this year’s fest! The Epcot International Festival of the Holidays is finally HERE! We’re bringing you the first day of the Festival live, and now we’re looking at one of our new favorite annual traditions at the Festival: the Cookie Stroll! Cookie Stroll We were already planning on strolling around the World Showcase for the International Festival of the Holidays, so adding cookies to the mix has made it a whole lot SWEETER! Let’s start by breaking down how the Cookie Stroll works! Just like last year, you can find a Cookie Stroll page in your Festival of the Holidays Passport (these are usually free at the park!). This page will list the booth locations of five holiday cookies around the Festival. Epcot Festival of the Holidays If you’re up for a sugary sweet challenge, simply purchase the five cookies and collect a stamp at each food booth where the cookie is found. 2019 Cookie Stroll Once you’ve completed that, simply stroll your way back to the Holiday Sweets and Treats food booth to get your Completer Cookie (that’s right, the prize is ANOTHER cookie – YUM!). Just for fun, we’ve ranked the cookies from our fave to our least fave, so let’s get to strolling, shall we? Learn more about the Holiday Cookie Stroll here! 1. Peppermint Pinwheel Cookie Starting off with our absolute favorite cookie from the cookie stroll this year, this festive Pinwheel Cookie almost looks too good to eat (emphasis on “almost”)! We strolled over to Yukon Holiday Kitchen and snagged this one for $2.50. The main flavor here is peppermint, which makes for a super creative twist (get it?) on a classic pinwheel cookie! Peppermint Pinwheel Cookie Read our FULL Yukon Holiday Kitchen review here! 2. Linzer Cookie A new addition to the 2019 Cookie Stroll is this SUPER beautiful Linzer Cookie! It comes complete with a fabulous raspberry jam center and can be found at Bavaria Holiday Kitchen for $2.50. This one ranks pretty high on our list because of its perfect balance between tart and sweet! Linzer Cookie Check out our Bavaria Holiday Kitchen review here! 3. Chocolate Crinkle Cookie This NEW Chocolate Crinkle Cookie has joined the line-up, and SPOILER ALERT — it has a delicious fudge-y center! This cookie is DEFINITELY a winner for the Cookie Stroll. Chocolate Crinkle Cookie It’s found at the Feast of Three Kings Booth for $2.50 and it is SO GOOD. The cookie is soft and the fudge center is the perfect way to round out a chocolatey bite. We can’t stop thinking about it! Chocolate Crinkle Cookie See our entire Feast of the Three Kings review here! 4. Completer Cookie Next up is the prize cookie! Once you’ve completed the stroll, you get this Completer Mickey Cookie, which looks a lot like last year’s! This cookie is also served with milk. The big difference is this Mickey Cookie is topped with a Santa hat, which is really getting us into the ho-ho-holiday spirit! It really is just a plain old sugar cookie; but with the chocolate icing and Santa hat, this is a cute and prize-worthy treat. Santa Mickey Sugar Cookie This is your reward for finishing the cookie stroll so it’s FREE if you’ve completed the stroll. But if you don’t want to buy all the other cookies, you can also just purchase this ONE cookie at Holiday Sweets & Treats for $3.00. It’s not like you HAVE to eat five other cookies to get it…but it’s OK if you want to forget we said that. Complete Cookie Make your day a little sweeter with our Holiday Sweets & Treats review! 5. Gingerbread Cookie The deliciously adorable Gingerbread Cookies have joined the stroll for $2.50 at American Holiday Table. We dare you not to smile just looking at this festive treat! It is just a classic gingerbread cookie which is why it’s a little lower on this list, but definitely tasty if that’s your jam! Gingerbread Cookie 6. Black and White Cookie And last up on our list: The ol’ classic Black and White Cookie is BACK this year, located at returning favorite L’Chaim! Holiday Kitchen. You can grab this guy for $2.5o and it’s actually a plant-based version of the NYC favorite. Black and White Cookie Tbh, we didn’t love it. But that’s mostly because several reviewers have lived in New York City and have a soft spot for the real black-and-whites. And while this is good, it’s definitely not authentic. The cookie is VERY soft, and while most black-and-whites are a bit softer than a traditional cookie, this was going overboard. We’ve been running around Epcot’s Festival of the Holidays all day munching to our heart’s delight! Tuscany Holiday Kitchen And while you’ve been following along with us on our Epcot escapades throughout the day, it’s now time to get our “mangia on!” with some of Tuscany Holiday Kitchen’s delicious Italian fare! The Tuscany Holiday Kitchen has been at the Epcot’s Festival of the Holidays since it debuted in 2017, and if you’re looking for some mighty tasty Italian cuisine, look no further! We’re talking pasta, flatbreads, and a selection of wines that makes our mouth start to water just reading it! See menus of EVERY Festival of the Holidays FOOD BOOTH here! First, let’s dive into some food! Tuscany Holiday Kitchen Food We were bummed to see the Cavatappi ai Quattro Formaggi missing from the menu — it made our Best of the Fest last year — but thankfully it was replaced by a new STUNNER. Meet the Collezione Barilla… Collezione Barilla For $7.99, this pasta is made with penne pasta tossed with Sweet Sausage, Caramelized Onions, and Creamy Sauce. We LOVED this. It had the teensiest bit of spice to it which we couldn’t get enough of! It was really tasty and unique without going too overboard. If you’re lookin’ for some pizza, this booth has you covered! The Bianca Neve (Italian Flatbread) for $5.00 comes with Mozzarella and Parmesan cheeses and is your classic thin cheese pizza (sans sauce!). Cheese+carbs? Kids will love this one! Bianca Neve There’s also the La Genovese (Rustic Flatbread) made with Vidalia Onions, White Wine Braised Beef Tenderloin Tips, and Mozzarella for $8.00. We really enjoyed this. Very flavorful with oodles of cheese, but we would have loved even more of those onions on ours! La Genovese For sweets, the Crespelle di Mele (Cinnamon Apple Fritters) with Vanilla Sauce Drizzle and Confectioners Sugar are little mini crispy apple donuts soaking up that yummy sauce. We enjoyed these but didn’t get too much apple in ours. You can grab some for $8.00. Crespelle di Mele The super-rich option at this booth is the Bacio al Cioccolato (Warm Hazelnut Chocolate Cake) with Caramelized Berry Sauce for $10.00. This was VERY chocolatey and VERY good. Believe it or not, this 10 dolla stunna is a Disney Dining Plan Snack Credit (Actually, ALL the foods at this booth are!) Bacio al Chioccolato Bacio al Chioccolato Finally, if you’d like a treat to take home with you (or eat on the spot. We feel ya!) try the Panettone Mignon (Miniature Traditional Italian Christmas Fruitcake) for $8.00. This may be a prepackaged Panettone but it’s still VERY good. Rich and moist and plenty good-sized to share. Panettone Mignon Drinks This booth is bursting with Italian beer and wines, but we decided to stick to what we know and love when we spied the Italian Margarita! This Italy Pavilion classic is made with Limoncello and Tequila. It’s tart, sweet, and perfect for sipping! You can pick up a glass for $10.00. We also grabbed a glass of Peroni Nastro Azzurro Pilsner for $5.50. When in Rome..er…Epcot! Peroni Nastro Azzurro Pilsner The wine options at this booth include: Pinot Grigio, Santa Marina — $9.00 Chianti, Gabbiano — $9.00 Prosecco, Villa Sandi — $10.00 Corbinello, Montegrande — $10.00 Moscato Fior D’Arancio, Montegrande — $10.00 Overall We hope you’ll get to check out Tuscany Holiday Kitchen for yourself at this year’s Festival of the Holidays!
