  2. We’re just a short time away from opening the doors to Disney’s Riviera Resort, the newest resort and Disney Vacation Club property coming to Walt Disney World. The excitement is building as all of the finishing touches and details are coming into place. We previously gave you a first look at a walkway tunnel at Disney’s Riviera Resort that features two spectacular mosaic murals. In that earlier sneak peek, we revealed that the magical scene of one mural is London at night, with Peter Pan, Wendy, Michael and John flying off to Never Land. Today, I’m elated to reveal to you the second mural that depicts Rapunzel’s floating lantern scene from “Tangled.” If you noticed the connection to flight in both murals, you have a keen sense of storytelling. Both of the mosaics – Rapunzel’s floating lantern scene and Peter Pan soaring over the London sky – celebrate flight. So it’s no coincidence that this tunnel walkway leads to the Disney Skyliner station at Disney’s Riviera Resort, where guests can step aboard and glide across the sky by aerial gondola to destinations across Walt Disney World Resort. More than 1 million hand-cut tiles were laid by hand to create this stunning work of art that rises 20 feet in the air and is joined at the ceiling by a shared mosaic sky. These are just some of the intricate and thoughtful details you’ll notice throughout Disney’s Riviera Resort. We can’t wait for you to discover more! Disney’s Riviera Resort is under construction now and projected to open Dec. 16, 2019. For more information or to make hotel reservations, visit the Walt Disney World Resort website or call 407-939-7762 or your travel agent. View the full article
  3. I hope your holiday shopping is off to a great start! I’m still in need of a few gifts myself including my hard-to-shop-for brother. Lucky for me he’s a basketball fan and with the NBA Store now open at Disney Springs, there are incredible slam dunk gifts around every corner. I recently brought him to NBA Experience where he lived out all his basketball dreams (I also found out he’s way better at dribbling than me.) If you have a basketball-loving fan on your list who hasn’t yet experienced this venue, I would highly recommend it. Thirteen unique experiences will immerse them into the world of the NBA and the WNBA where the magic of Disney brings it all together. My favorite activity is the Slingshot experience—it offers some family-friendly competition and not to brag but I have won two of three rounds so far. Another favorite? Dunk! In this experience, you’ll challenge yourself to reach new heights and capture baller photos of your skills in action. Tickets start at only $34 and are purchased in advance here (a great stocking stuffer surprise!) Just around the corner from NBA Experience is the NBA Store full of licensed apparel, hats, and accessories. Did I mention there’s also Disney-exclusive product you’ll only find at Disney Springs? (Score!) Here’s a few of my favorite finds that will keep them looking stylish all season long. Disney Exclusive Collections Show a little Disney character with a new line of apparel and accessories created specifically for NBA Experience featuring Mickey Mouse, Minnie Mouse, Donald Duck, and Goofy in their best basketball attire. Favorites from the collection include themed ear hats and ears, T-shirts, and the iconic Loungefly backpack that feels like the same texture as a basketball! And don’t worry—Mickey doesn’t have a favorite team, so you can find him representing all teams on water bottles, patches, trading pins and more. Licensed NBA Jerseys and Hats Look like a pro on and off the court with licensed jerseys that represent a variety of teams, current players, and even basketball legends. NBA Experience Apparel and Accessories Loved your time at NBA Experience? Show it off in a style that’s uniquely you! You’ll find a variety of T-shirts, polos, backpacks, and hats including a new collection from New Era featuring Mickey Mouse, Goofy, and Donald Duck in a slick collector’s box. Personalized Accessories Add your own personal touch to your gear at our D-Tech on Demand station where you can add customization to MagicBands, water bottles, smartphone cases, magnets and ornaments! Planning a visit to Disney Springs soon? Keep an eye out on the larger-than-life jumbotron outside the venue where live games will be broadcast. Looking to watch a game over dinner and drinks? I recommend stopping by Splitsville just a short walk away from NBA Experience for slam dunk deliciousness. Check out our “For the Kids” category in our Disney Springs Digital Gift Guide for more gifting ideas for the NBA Store like spinning toy basketball that make you look like an all-time basketball pro with no experience required. For more gifting ideas, be sure to follow us on social media @DisneySprings. Happy shopping! View the full article
  4. Today is Giving Tuesday, a perfect day to share an opportunity to give back this holiday season. This weekend, Dec. 7 and 8, the Downtown Disney District will host a Toys for Tots drive from 10 a.m. – 5 p.m. for less fortunate children in Orange County, California. Guests can drop off new, unpackaged toys valued at $10 or more in donation bins located near the Downtown Disney District LIVE! stage. U.S. Marines will be on hand to accept the donations! There also will be a convenient way to purchase toys for donation at a pop-up shop between Disney’s Pin Traders and the Downtown Disney District monorail station. Disney’s tradition of supporting the U.S. Marine Corps Reserves’ Toys for Tots program dates back to Walt Disney, who personally supervised the creation of the Toys for Tots logo. Disney also was a founding sponsor of the program when it began in 1947. Today, Disneyland Resort is proud to continue the tradition of supporting Toys for Tots. Since 2006, our guests and cast members have donated more than 160,000 toys! View the full article

  15. Our Annual Gingerbread House Competition is one of my favorite Disney Cruise Line traditions. Year after year, the shipboard teams put in great effort to make their oversized gingerbread house better than ever. And this year was no exception. Together they used about 650 pounds of gingerbread dough, 220 pounds of icing sugar, 5,250 gingerbread bricks and a ton of candy to create these masterpieces. All of the houses turned out beautifully, but one really stands out… The Disney Fantasy! As you can see, they went above and beyond in creativity, intricacy and originality, making this ship the winner of our Sixth Annual Gingerbread House Competition. A huge congrats to the Disney Fantasy, and a job well done to the pastry, bakery chefs and deck teams on the Disney Dream, Disney Wonder and Disney Magic! Be sure to check out the spectacular gingerbread house in the ship’s atrium when you sail on a Very Merrytime Cruise this holiday season. View the full article

However, on their way to the hidden base, guests are intercepted and taken prisoner by the First Order as their ship is drawn into the hangar bay of a Star Destroyer. The action then ramps up as guests seek to escape the clutches of Kylo Ren and the First Order. This beautiful location is reminiscent of an indoor street island market, complete with thatched roofs, Caribbean music, vivid colors, and gorgeous light fixtures. Centertown Market You will also find stunning murals depicting a Caribbean Carnival. ‘Tis the SEA-son for outdoor eating, so we headed outside to the covered outdoor seating area which offers beautiful views of the Disney Skyliner and the entire Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort. Don’t miss out on our first look and pictures of this tropical paradise from earlier this year! Caribbean Beach Resort’s Centertown Market EATS The lunch options at Centertown Market are very well-rounded. The menu also includes various new plant-based options! For today’s review, we chose to try the Cuban Sandwich, Plant-Based Market Burger, Chocolate Crème Tart, and Tropical Tart. After making our choices, we proceeded to the central ordering location. At Centertown, you place your order at a central ordering station. Caribbean Beach Resort’s Centertown Market Grab and Go Once you place your order, you are given a pager. When your pager buzzes, you proceed to the conveniently labeled “Pick-Up” windows to receive your meal. This is different from dinner at Centertown Market, where a Cast Member brings your food to the table. Centertown Market Dinner Delivery System The first thing we tried was the Cuban Sandwich for $11.49. We’re big fans of Cuban sandwiches and know a good one when we see it! This Cuban at Centertown Market seems to check-off all of the requirements of a traditional Cuban Sandwich. The pressed Cuban bread is stuffed with pulled pork, ham, swiss cheese, pickles, and mustard. We were happy to see that it would be “pressed”, as this is how real Cuban Sandwiches should be prepared. We had high hopes for this sandwich and, for the most part, were quite satisfied. The Cuban bread was buttery, flaky, and perfectly pressed. This sandwich is supposed to come with a side of crunchy Plantain and Yucca Chips but we opted for a side of fries instead. The fries were standard Disney Quick-Service fries — crunchy, salty, and warm. The pulled pork was flavorful, soft, and plentiful. We were pleasantly surprised by how good the pork was! Through experience, we’ve come to realize that it’s the pork that will “make or break” a Cuban Sandwich. This one was really well seasoned and well cooked! We’re BIG fans of cheese yet, sadly, this sandwich didn’t have nearly as much as we would have liked! There was a good bit of ham, but give us more CHEESE to fill out that bread! We also love a lot of mustard on a good Cuban, but ours was a bit light, so be sure to ask for extra if that’s your thing! Overall, it was a delicious sandwich — mostly because of the amazing pork! It was definitely the standout ingredient of this dish. Next up, we tried the Market Burger. This burger is served with a side of Plantain and Yucca Chips, but we chose a small side salad instead. This is Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort’s take on a plant-based burger. The Market Burger is described as a “grilled Plant-based burger served with lettuce, tomato, onion, and pickles.” This burger is usually We did some digging and decided to speak to a Cast Member when we realized there was no information on exactly what type of plant-based burger patty we were about to consume! A Cast Member confirmed that it is a Beyond Meat patty. The Beyond Meat burger patty has no GMOs, soy, or gluten. It is perfect for plant-based foodies! We were given bountiful toppings. We counted at least 4 large pieces of lettuce, 2 pieces of tomato, 2 stacks of onions, and 2 giant sliced pickles! The Market Burger could have fooled us! It was juicy, tasty and even looked like a regular burger! Some more digging told us that the patty is “dyed” with red beet juice — giving it that authentic meat color. We noticed the patty had a slight coconut after-taste. Other than that, there’s not much else to say! It is a very straight-forward plant-based option. The side salad which consists of a “spring mix” and green tomatoes topped with vinaigrette dressing was very simple. We liked the flavor of the vinaigrette and found there was enough of it on the salad. Let’s keep PALM and carry on to some of the dessert options! DESSERTS We found two tart options on the lunch menu, and like any good foodies, we decided to try both! The Tropical Tart is a tropical key lime and mango tart with passion fruit and vanilla Chantilly for $5.49. This dessert was light, tasty, and not too sweet. The most prominent flavor is that of the key lime. The passion fruit, vanilla and mango tone down some of the acidity of the key lime —while still remaining “tart” enough for those looking for that unmistakable key lime “kick”! The Chocolate Crème Tart for $5.49 is described as a chocolate creme tart topped with chocolate coffee Chantilly, San Farine biscuit, and finished with Caramel Crispies. We were “happy as clams” when we dove into this one. It was decadent, rich, and delicious. This a definite must-have for chocolate lovers! The coffee added a nice touch to it, as did those amazing Caramel Crispies. We would have been content with a bowl of JUST the Caramel Crispies. They were that yummy! OVERALL The lunch dishes and desserts we tried at Centertown Market are great quick-service options for guests staying at Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort. However, it’s not necessarily worth swimming over to Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort to eat at Centertown Market unless you are staying there OR if you happen to jump off the Skyliner (Caribbean Beach is the central station and want a quick bite. We hope to return soon and continue checking out other newer additions to the Centertown Market menu — hopefully, we will strike “foodie gold” at Disney’s Caribbean Beach soon!
