Disney Cruise Line has just embarked on an inaugural season sailing from New Orleans. This also marks the very first time that Disney Cruise Line has had a homeport in Louisiana. On the Disney Wonder’s first departure from the Crescent City on Feb. 7, 2020, the ship received a celebratory bon voyage from Princess Tiana, Prince Naveen and members of the traditional New Orleans Treme Brass Band. This cruise that has just commenced kicks off a limited-engagement season sailing from New Orleans in 2020, and Disney Cruise Line will be returning to New Orleans again in early 2021. These voyages visit the Bahamas, Caribbean and include stops at Disney’s private island paradise, Castaway Cay. Those in the area can experience the magic of having a Disney ship in their own backyard. For guests joining Disney Cruise Line from farther away, they can savor the excitement and flair of the Big Easy both onboard and ashore. In New Orleans, there’s magic around every corner as visitors recognize the iconic sights and sounds that inspired the Disney animated film “The Princess and the Frog.” Onboard the Disney Wonder, Disney Cruise Line is “gonna take you there!” with a celebration of New Orleans dining and entertainment at Tiana’s Place restaurant and a menu that draws inspiration from the flavors and ingredients of the Louisiana bayou. At the brand new French Quarter Lounge, guests are transported deeper into the story to enjoy live jazz music, sip a New Orleans-themed specialty drink and dance the night away. Throughout the days, family activities, trivia, workshops, crafts and music bring the bayou spirit of family gatherings and fun to life. View the full article

Whether you’re visiting Walt Disney World Resort on one of our recently announced special room offers or any other vacation package, it’s always hard to say “see ya real soon” on your departure day. But now, many guests will have a magical surprise to look forward to after they return home! Following a 3-night or longer stay at a Disney Resort hotel in 2020, keep your eyes on your mailbox for a newly created letter thanking you for your visit (plot twist: this is no ordinary letter). On it, you’ll find a QR code that unlocks a hidden screen in the Play Disney Parks mobile app, which offers all sorts of interactive fun and games for family and friends before, during, and in this case, after your visit. The QR code will bring to life an engaging animation in the app featuring your pal, Mickey Mouse, who will appear right before your eyes through a special augmented reality (AR) effect. Check out a sneak peek below! Afterward, you’ll also earn an exclusive “Thanks for the Magic” digital achievement in the app. Available in the Apple App Store and Google Play, the Play Disney Parks app continues to be enhanced with new ways to enjoy and celebrate the parks – from activating physical show effects and playing in-queue games to becoming a Disney trivia master, earning ride achievements and finding official Disney Parks playlists through Apple Music.** One of my favorite locations to use the app is Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge, where your phone becomes your Star Wars: Datapad, allowing you to interact with droids, scan cargo crates and more (just wait until you see what happens when you hack into the Millennium Falcon). Visit DisneyWorld.com to see our latest deals and book your next vacation, and be on the lookout for this extra bit of pixie dust in the mail following your next 3-night or longer Disney Resort hotel stay! **Music streaming feature requires an Apple Music subscription. Separate Apple Music terms and conditions apply. Available for iPhone and Android smartphones. Message, data and roaming rates may apply. Availability subject to handset limitations, and features may vary by handset, service provider or otherwise. Coverage and app stores not available everywhere. If you’re under 18, get your parents’ permission first. Some app features require separate theme park admission. In our Disney Doodles series, our Disney artists take turns imagining what different Disney characters would do or see first if they had the chance to visit a Disney park. Today, Ashley Taylor imagines what Robin Hood and Little John from the 1977 film “Robin Hood” would do if they could visit Magic Kingdom Park. “Whenever I would walk by Merida’s meet and greet in Fairytale Garden, I’d always imagine Robin Hood and Little John having target practice there,” Ashley said. “I’ll bet they would have amazing archery tournaments there.” View the full article

Whether inspired by a fresh block of paid time off or a fresh check from the IRS, a resolution to spend more time with our loved ones or a desire to put something fun on that costumed-goats calendar we got stuck with at the office Christmas party, all of us tend to focus on vacation planning during the early months of a new year. To help simplify the process of planning your family’s next vacation through the magic of Disney Vacation Club Membership, the Disney Files staff has gathered a few pro tips from our friends at Member Services. Go online: While Member Services Advisors are lovely, and we can certainly understand why you’d want to talk to them, many of the vital services they offer are available online at disneyvacationclub.com (Plan a Vacation tab), from making new reservations at Disney Vacation Club Resorts (beginning as early as 8 a.m. – a full hour before phone lines open) to modifying existing reservations around the neighborhood. And even if do prefer to make your reservations by phone, consider a pre-call visit to the website, where you’ll find tools that allow you to review points charts, check availability across multiple Disney Vacation Club Resorts and room types, and more. If you’re visiting the site during Member Services operating hours, you can even chat live online with a Member Services Advisor. Spend less time on the phone: While Member Services takes calls (at 800-800-9800) seven days a week (9 a.m.-9 p.m. Eastern on weekdays, 9 a.m.-7 p.m. on weekends), you’ll find the shortest wait times during afternoon hours Tuesday through Friday. Be sure to have your Membership Card handy, as you’ll be asked for information on that card. Be prepared with options: To avoid going back to the proverbial drawing board if your first choice of dates, resorts or accommodations isn’t available, have alternate choices in mind so you can quickly pivot to available options (some of which may even save you Vacation Points). Note that calling as early as possible in your booking window (11 months out from your desired check-in date at your home resort, 7 months out from your desired check-in date at other resorts) will maximize your chances of getting what you want, which is particularly critical during holidays and other peak travel periods. Wherever your plans take you in 2020 and beyond, all of us at Disney Vacation Club hope your best vacation is the one you’ve yet to take. Oh, and if you’re picking up souvenirs for Disney Files staffers, we like just about anything edible, wearable or suitable for framing. View the full article

Love is all around Disney World! BoardWalk Bakery Right now, we are LIVING for all the treats out in the parks for Valentine’s Day! And, the latest heartfelt dessert at the Disney Resorts has us practically swooning with how adorable it is! Similar to the macaron we spotted in Disneyland, the Valentine’s Macaron has made its way into the BoardWalk Bakery for the holiday. BoardWalk Bakery Case Two raspberry macarons are layered with diplomat cream, fresh raspberries, and almonds. And, the sweet-tart combo is a great one! (Oh, did we mention the edible glitter that gives this even more sparkle?!) Valentine’s Macaron The macarons are sweet, but not overwhelmingly so. The diplomat cream is light and fluffy, which pairs well with the tart raspberries. The flavors are simple, but blend well; and the variations in texture (those fresh raspberries!) are welcome. Valentine’s Macaron You can pick up the Valentine’s Macaron for $6.49 (and maybe even grab some for your loved ones too!). Plus, you can check out the Chocolate Covered Cherry Cupcake for something a li’l more shareable while you’re visiting! Have you spotted the Valentine’s Macaron on the BoardWalk yet? Valentine’s has arrived in Disney World, and so have all the tasty themed treats! BoardWalk Bakery While we’ve been indulging ourselves in the Rose Cake Pop and Love Struck Latte, we’re about to get our snack on with an adorable new cupcake at the resorts. The Chocolate Covered Cherry Cupcake (!!!) is looking as sweet as ever at the BoardWalk Bakery! BoardWalk Bakery Case The chocolate cupcake has cherry filling with vanilla Baker’s cream and white chocolate hearts on top. Chocolate Covered Cherry Cupcake We could seriously eat this cupcake every day. It’s just that good!! The cake is extremely moist and fluffy (which makes every bite heaven). The cherry filling is more on the tart side, but it’s wonderfully balanced by the cake and the sweet vanilla frosting. The crispy pearls on top add a slight crunch to the treat that makes our tastebuds fall in love! Cherry Filling If you’re going to get a Valentine’s treat in the parks, this is totally worth trekking over to the BoardWalk for this holiday. Besides, it’s just so stinkin’ cute that you could make it your phone background!! Chocolate Covered Cherry Cupcake You can grab the Chocolate Covered Cherry Cupcake for $5.99. And, while you’re at the BoardWalk, be sure to pair the Mandarin Kiss as a drink with your treat! Have you tried the Chocolate Covered Cherry Cupcake yet? Let us know in the comments below! Construction is a BIG thing right now in Disney World since the 50th anniversary is coming up soon! Main Street, U.S.A. And, while we’re super excited for all the restaurants, attractions (Tron Lightcycle Run, baby!!), and more coming to the parks, we happened to spot a change today that gave us some major feels. You might remember that Big Top Souvenirs has been closed off and on recently (once in December and again in January) for unknown reasons. Big Top Closed (Again) And, as we stopped by to find that it’s open again (yay!!!), we made a pretty sad discovery. Where did the old adorable carpet go??? Big Top Souvenirs Is Back Open! While Big Top previously had colorful carpet that looked like stitched together tarps and was themed very circus-like… Mickey Pez Dispenser …now it’s been switched to a dark gray carpet that doesn’t match the theme like the original did. Sad face. ): New Gray Carpet at Big Top The biggest problem with this carpet (other than the fact it’s not nearly as cute) is that it makes the already dark circus tent appear even darker. Tbh, it slightly gives us the creeps with how dark it is. Big Top Souvenirs Buuut, not all hope is lost! The carpet may have been switched due to a possible flood in the store according to a Cast Member (who said that “unfortunately, Dumbo was splashing around”). The floor near the entrance to Big Top looks pretty unfinished, so we’re hoping that the new carpet is only a temporary fix. Unfinished Entrance Carpet at Big Top Please bring back the fun themed carpet, Big Top!! We’ll keep you updated on any news on Big Top Souvenirs here! And, you can keep up with all the construction around the parks by subscribing to our newsletter! Have you spotted the changes to Big Top Souvenirs? Let us know in the comments below! Grab your paintbrushes, artists! Magic Kingdom We’ve been LOVING the Ink & Paint Collection in the parks (especially those adorable Minnie Ears!) with its splashes of color and animation sketches. And, now one of our favorite merchandise items from the line has popped up in Magic Kingdom! While we’ve already seen the Ink & Paint Spirit Jersey in Disneyland, the colorful long-sleeve shirt has made its vibrant debut in Disney World! Ink & Paint Spirit Jerseys The spirit jersey features sketches of classic characters like Mickey, Pinocchio, and Peter Pan with a hint of color in some spots (almost like the beginning stages of an animation coming to life!). Animation Sketches The front features the Walt Disney World icon with its 1971 opening date… Ink & Paint Spirit Jersey …while the back has the logo in big, bold letters! Yeahhh, we’re kind of obsessed!! Ink & Paint Spirit Jersey You can channel your inner artist with the Ink & Paint Spirit Jersey for $69.99 at the Emporium! Hollywood Studios has been getting the galactic treatment recently with the grand opening of the Rise of the Resistance in Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge. (And, it’s basically the coolest ride EVER.) Hollywood Studios But, just like we had to say goodbye to our friends at the end of The Rise of Skywalker, we might have to bid farewell to some beloved Star Wars entertainment in the park soon. All good things must come to an end. And, the “Star Wars: A Galaxy Far, Far Away” may be playing its final show soon in Hollywood Studios! “Star Wars: A Galaxy Far, Far Away” Stage Show The outdoor show featuring characters from the prequels, originals, and sequels in the Skywalker Saga could possibly be reaching its conclusion around the time Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railway opens. While nothing has been confirmed, we’re not seeing times on the Disney World website for the show beyond the 15th (that’s less than a week!). “Star Wars: A Galaxy Far Far Away” Light Side While we’re definitely sad that this show might leave us to become one with the Force, we are excited that this could possibly bring more entertainment into Galaxy’s Edge soon. There is currently only a small show featuring Kylo Ren and roaming characters (but we would be SO game to see some lightsaber duels!). “Star Wars: A Galaxy Far Far Away” Dark Side This would also possibly open up the area in front of Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railway in time for its opening if it happens! While the Star Wars show is fun, we do miss being able to walk in the park and see the Chinese Theater at the end of the street. Although there isn’t an official confirmation that “Star Wars: A Galaxy Far, Far Away” will be leaving the park just yet, we’ll keep you updated with more news! “Star Wars: A Galaxy Far, Far Away” Stage Show And, you can check all the other awesome Star Wars entertainment coming to the parks by subscribing to our newsletter! Hola amigos! Cheers to Mexico! As you may know, we here at DFB love the eats and drinks in Epcot’s Mexico Pavilion. From celebrity-crafted cocktails at La Cava del Tequila to the street corn at Choza de Margarita, it’s one of our favorite places for a snack and drink. But recently, we found ourselves in need of more than a light bite — so we decided to visit an old favorite: La Cantina de San Angel! La Cantina de San Angel is Mexico’s Quick Service Location, serving up fan favorites such as tacos, empanadas, and of course, margaritas! We’ve always found it to be a great spot for delicious and flavorful eats that are beyond your standard “Burger and fries” theme park fare, but still not too adventurous for the picky eaters and kids in your group. So, are you ready to check out what we tried this time? Vamos! Atmosphere: La Cantina de San Angel La Cantina de San Angel is one of the first things you’ll see as you enter World Showcase and turn left towards Mexico. It sits on the lagoon side of the path — so if you’re lucky enough to eat here during fireworks time, you’ll have quite the view. (But keep in mind, seats fill up quickly around that time!) Outdoor Seating All of the seating at La Cantina is outdoors, but luckily it’s covered and has fans to help during the peak Florida heat. Ordering Windows Like most Quick-Service locations, you’ll use a walk-up window to order and receive your food, and then find a table. Condiment Station La Cantina has two condiment stations where you can grab napkins and utensils, as well as a few salsas for your dish. Trust us when we say you’re going to want to grab a little cup or two of these! (More on the salsas later — keep reading!) Salsas Eats: Taking a look at La Cantina de San Angel’s menu, you’ll see there’s a decent variety between all of the Mexican dishes. Menu (Click to Enlarge) La Cantina does a good job of being more authentic than your average Tex-Mex chain, but still has familiar favorites like nachos for those on the pickier side. Also, peep the mac & cheese and chicken tenders on the kid’s menu. These make it one of our favorite spots for the whole family! The kids and less adventurous eaters can enjoy classic favorites, but the rest of the party can get something a little more exciting. But what really caught our eye, was under “Sides.” A side of Nacho Cheese is only 75 cents?! WHAT!? That’s less than Casey’s Corner — a side of cheese there will run you a whole $1 for your Corn Dog Nuggets. We ordered some immediately (as is DFB law when we spot new-to-us cheese dips!). We naturally assumed this was classic Disney “Plastic Cheese” to top our tacos with and ruin any authenticity, but we were wrong. So very wrong. (KEEP READING!) Drink Menu Considering you’re in Mexico, there’s also a nice selection of Margaritas and Mexican Draft Beer. We love that the beverages here are unique to La Cantina, meaning you won’t find the exact same blends at Choza de Margarita or La Cava del Tequila. And don’t forget, if you’re on the Disney Dining Plan you can get an alcoholic beverage with your meal. Considering these margs average around $15, that’s a great use of a drink for a Quick Service Credit! We settled on our entrees, grabbed our salsas, and found a table to begin our feast. First up: a margarita, of course. This is the Avion Strawberry Margarita, made with Avion Blanco tequila, strawberry puree, blackcurrant and apertive liquors, lime juice, rum, and mezcal. Avion Strawberry Margarita While there is a lot going on in the ingredient list, the main flavor is still strawberry. We were hoping to pick up on a bit of the smokiness of the mezcal, but unfortunately, the sweet flavor drowned it out. That said, if you like strawberry margaritas, this is a very good one. But if you’re someone who prefers your cocktail on the tarter side, we suggest grabbing the La Cantina Clásica instead. Or if you’re really just here for the margs, we loved the newest additions across the way at Choza de Margarita. Avion Strawberry Margarita For our first entree, we grabbed the Pollo Cascabel. Pollo Cascabel This is a bowl made with Grilled Chicken, Mexican Rice, Corn, Cascabel Sauce, Pickled Onions, and is topped with fresh cilantro and queso fresco. Pollo Cascabel Close up This was so flavorful and delicious. The chicken was cooked perfectly, and the cascabel sauce added a tremendous amount of flavor. We also loved the acidity from the pickled onions. To kick it up a bit, we added some salsa from the condiment bar, and the Chipotle added the perfect amount of heat to the dish. This is one we’d absolutely order again — and all things considered, this is a somewhat healthier option at World Showcase. Salsa Verde and Chipotle Salsas Next up, the Taco Trio! Taco Trio This is great for the indecisive members of your family because the Trio gives you one of each of La Cantina’s tacos: barbacoa, fish, and chicken! Plus a generous side of rice and black beans. Taco Trio We quickly dove into the tacos head first, starting with the Pescado (fish)! Pescado Taco The Pescado taco is fried fish with slaw and Habanero aioli, wrapped in a homemade corn tortilla. It was amazing — the breading was nice and crispy on the outside and a mild white fish on the inside. The Habanero aioli was more flavorful than it was hot, and the slaw added a good crunch to each bite. Next up, the Barbacoa! Barbacoa Taco The Barbacoa Taco keeps it simple with just shredded beef, cilantro, and red salsa (Granted a few shreds of slaw from our fish taco ended up making it into the tortilla!). This one was excellent as well — the beef was really well seasoned and tender. We also added a bit of chipotle salsa to this one for extra flavor. If you’re not a fish person, this is the winner taco for you! Lastly, the Taco de Pollo! Taco de Pollo The Taco de Pollo (chicken) is made with marinated grilled chicken, red salsa, and cilantro. While the chicken was executed well, it wasn’t as flavorful as the beef or exciting as the fish. We felt as though it was missing something…but luckily we had just the ticket… Enter the 75 cent nacho cheese. (You didn’t forget about it, did you?) Side of Nacho Cheese Turns out, at La Cantina de San Angel side of “nacho cheese” equals a side of QUESO. Deliciously flavorful, amazingly perfect white queso. Hello, I love you. It was just the thing to add a little flavor to our chicken taco, and TBH we put it on everything else as well. Is it a tiny cup? Yes. But it’s 75 CENTS. Get two, heck get three. Treat your self friends, you’re on vacation. And we promise you will not regret it. Our Mexican Feast! Overall: Once again, La Cantina de San Angel proves itself to be a winning Quick-Service spot amid tough competition in Epcot. All of our dishes were well executed with great flavor and fresh ingredients. While it may not be the most exciting or exotic menu in World Showcase, it’s a superb option for those who want to play it safe AND those who want a little extra heat and adventure. Plus, did we mention the 75 cent queso? That right there is enough to earn a win in our book. Adios, La Cantina de San Angel. We certainly enjoyed our visit, and we will be back soon! Everyone has their own unique strategy for how they like to tackle all four of the Disney World theme parks during their vacations! Space Mountain And while many folks swear by rope dropping — the correct way to rope drop remains shrouded in mystery for many (you may not even know what a rope drop IS!). While you might think rope dropping is some sort of sacred art form passed down from generation to generation due to the way people talk about it, we’re going to make it really simple for you guys! First things first… What is Rope Dropping? The term “rope drop” can mean different things for different people, but in general, it means getting into a Disney park right at its opening time. More specifically, rope dropping for many is all about being physically INSIDE a Disney World theme park, beyond the turnstiles, before its scheduled opening. Magic Kingdom That way, you’ll be poised and ready to strike, err, we mean briskly walk to your attraction of choice as soon as Cast Members inform you it’s time to GO! GO! GO! What ISN’T Rope Dropping? We’ve heard the term “rope dropping” used a lot by folks describing getting to the parks sometime in the morning hours. While you can beat a lot of the crowds by arriving at a Disney World theme park shortly after it opens, you still have to allow time for travel and/or parking, as well as time for passing through the security checkpoints and the ticket gates which can take time. Magic Kingdom Entrance Rope dropping in its purest form takes all of these factors into account! But What About the Rise of the Resistance Elephant in the Room? So we need to make one distinction in what is and isn’t traditional rope dropping. If you’ve seen any of the madness at Hollywood Studios after the opening of Rise of the Resistance these past few months, you’ve likely heard allll about boarding groups, virtual queues, and guests showing up at the parks HOURS before the sun comes up! This, friends, is not rope dropping. It’s another beast entirely. Hollywood Studios Before Park Opening Rope dropping puts you in a prime spot to rush to those rides you want to go on most right when the park opens. With the virtual queue system for Rise, however, guests can begin to get a spot in a boarding group once inside the park at its scheduled opening time. So it’s rope dropping in the sense that you’re in the park before it’s actually open, but you’re jumping on your phone and getting a boarding group to ride later in the day. And those boarding groups go FAST! Rise of the Resistance Boarding Groups Sign Still, to ensure they’re in the park right at open to get one of the precious few boarding group spots, many guests are queueing up hours before the park opens to ensure they’re inside once the park opens. Just be warned that if you’re planning on rope dropping in Hollywood Studios, many MANY others will be too. So if you’re planning on jumping in line for Slinky Dog Dash right at rope drop, you may find yourself still waiting in an hour+ line. But, you can snag a prized Rise of the Resistance boarding group! So, pros and cons! You’ve received the full “Hollywood Studios is a little crazy right now” disclaimer, now, back to the basics of rope drop! But Why Is It Called Rope Drop? Believe it or not, the term “rope drop” comes from an actual rope that Cast Members used to control the flow of guests entering the park and goes back to the earlier days of Disneyland. Guests would be allowed into the park and allowed on Main Street, U.S.A. but Cast Members with a rope would block off entry into each land. When the park officially opened, a spiel would come on the loudspeaker announcing the park was open for the day, and the Cast Members would “drop the rope” and slowly allow guests to walk (no running!) into the rest of the park. Cinderella’s Castle with Stage To this day, sometimes you may still see a real-live “rope drop” depending on which park you visit! Each park handles their “rope drop” procedure a bit differently, but you can rest assured that many guests each day will show up to be a part of it! Why Rope Drop? Rope dropping is a great way to get ahead of the crowds and ride several popular attractions with little to no wait. It’s also a helpful way to ride popular attractions you were unable to secure a FastPass for such as Animal Kingdom’s Flight of Passage, Hollywood Studio’s Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run or Slinky Dog Dash, and Magic Kingdom’s Seven Dwarfs Mine Train. Sever Dwarfs Mine Train Plus, rides aside, it can be really nice to feel like you have the park all to yourself first thing in the morning with practically no crowds! Which tier 1 Hollywood Studios Fast Pass should you choose — Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run or Slinky Dog Dash? Find out HERE! Which Disney World Theme Parks Can I Rope Drop? All of them, baby! ALL OF ‘EMMMM!!! How Early Should I Get to the Parks to Rope Drop “the Right Way”? About an hour before the park’s scheduled opening time. That should give you enough time to get through security and be at the front-lines of the battle for rope drop supremacy. Hollywood Studios Rope Droppers in ACTION!!! What Are the Pros and Cons of Rope Dropping? Rope dropping isn’t for everyone, folks. Sure, all the cool kids are doing it, but it might not be the best plan for you and your fam! It means rising and shining earlier than what is natural and normal for many guests who are trying to have a somewhat relaxing vacay (you know, as relaxing as walking 15 miles a day can be!). Here’s how to decide if your next Disney World trip holds a rope drop or two in its future — or NOT! Pros to Rope Dropping: Experience the parks and rides before the crowds descend and the madness begins! Ride several popular attractions back-to-back with minimal wait times. Get on those highly-coveted FastPass rides (like the ones we mentioned earlier!) that you didn’t score a reservation for! Cons to Rope Dropping: Rope dropping can sometimes mean not staying until park closing the night before — you don’t want to burn the candle at both ends or you might lose some of your zest for being at Disney World and THAT would be a shame! Getting to the park before rope dropping is HARD on the body and the mind! You’re probably already exhausted from your exciting trip so far. But with rope drop, you’re going to be pushing yourself — skipping those much-needed couple hours of extra sleep, and maybe even breakfast or your cup of coffee. Flight of Passage Any Additional Pro Tips for Rope Dropping? YES! Since you’ll be able to accomplish a lot of your Disney World must-dos in the first few hours of the parks being open, we’ve adopted a get-in, get-out strategy! As each park begins to hit critical mass for the day making it difficult to roam about freely, we tend to head back to our resort for a quick nap (also because we’re starting to feel a little tired by this point!). If It Starts to Look Like This in the Parks, It Might Be Time For a Break! Or if we’re feeling particularly active, park-hop over to another resort for a while. Then we return to the park in the afternoon/evening when the crowds have begun to filter out for the day. It’s also a good time to enjoy a nice table-service meal, or take in some Disney Springs fun depending on how the mood strikes you! The view from the T-Rex and Lego side of the Causeway at Disney Springs We also can’t overstate this next bit of advice enough — rope dropping will put you at a major advantage and give you a leg up on the crowds at Disney World as long as you don’t squander it! Even though you’re sleepy, try to resist the urge to wait in a long line for coffee at Starbucks! Pack a piece of fruit or energy bar to snack on instead of stopping for breakfast. Leave less popular attractions until later in the day — only ride the essentials, people! Walt Disney World That means even if you’re really hankering for an early morning Country Bear Jamboree or are dying to spend some time in the Enchanted Tiki Room, you can get to those things done later when the park is getting stuffed with people but those attractions still have an often short wait. Time is of the essence! We hope this clears up some of the mystery and confusion about rope dropping! Now go forth and rope drop like a pro! The Festival of the Arts is still going on in Epcot, and we’re spotting its mascot, Figment, all over the place! Figment! If you love this little purple Figment of our Imaginations as much as we do, you’ll be excited to hear that one of the CUTEST items featuring our favorite dragon is BACK in Disney World! The Figment Slap Bracelet MagicBand had a brief foray onto Disney World merchandise shelves a few months ago, but was quickly pulled for unconfirmed reasons. Today, we spotted it being restocked in Hollywood Studios. (Yaaaas!) Figment Slap MagicBand The slap bracelet MagicBand features little Figment horns… Figment Slap MagicBand …and portraits of our favorite purple dragon! Um, can we please be as photogenic as Figment?? Figment Slap MagicBand This version of a Disney MagicBand can be super helpful for kiddos, who often snag their regular MagicBands, open them up, and lose them. A slap bracelet has the potential to stay put much better than a standard issue MagicBand. We are SO happy to see the Figment MagicBand back on the shelves for $24.99! The Muppets are going through a time and a half right now with the recent farewell to The Muppets Present… Great Moments in American History, announcement of Sam Eagle’s Regal Eagle takeover, and the refurbishment of Muppet*Vision 3D! Muppet*Vision 3D But, it’s time to play the music and light the lights ’cause Muppet*Vision 3D is back and better than ever, baby! And we also get to say Hello, Again to our favorite fountain friend, who’s also back (though not yet in action). While Muppet*Vision has been closed since January 27th, it’s back open today for guests to become a part of the Muppet Show themselves! Muppet*Vision 3D But, the show wasn’t offering FastPasses when we were there, so wait times might be a bit longer than usual. And, while you’re over there, make sure to stop in the Muppet Courtyard because… (drum roll please)… the Statue of Miss Piggy has returned, like a phoenix rising from the ashes! Statue of Miss Piggy While the famous statue disappeared from its spot across from the Gonzo Royal Flush restrooms last week (probably to go give Kermit a smooch), Miss Piggy is back to guide us “home” to Muppet*Vision 3D! Now, she’s dry at the moment — the fountain isn’t running — but at least she’s back in her rightful place! We’re so happy to see the comeback of both Muppet*Vision 3D AND the Statue of Miss Piggy in Hollywood Studios! Now, if you’ll excuse us, we’re going to grab some 3D glasses to enjoy the show! ;D Muppet Courtyard You can keep up with all the news about the upcoming attractions (Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railway, anyone??) and renovations in Hollywood Studios by subscribing to our newsletter! Extra Magic Hours can be AWESOME when you want to ride your favorite attractions before park opening and after park closing in Disney World! Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railway Sign And, even though we gave you the deets on Hollywood Studios extending its hours at the beginning of this year AND through March, now you can party all summer long with another set of Extra Magic Hours! According to Disney World’s website, the hours in Hollywood Studios have been extended through August! On Sundays, guests will be able to stay in the park for two extra hours from 9 PM until 11 PM to hop on their favorite rides, hopefully including Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railway opening in a few weeks! Hollywood Studios Extra Magic Hours But, just a warning for all you Rise of the Resistance fans: the attraction usually isn’t open during Extra Magic Hours (even though a Padawan can dream that they’ll change that)! So, if you want to join the Rebel Alliance to battle the first order, you’ll need to get there earlier in the day to snag a Boarding Pass. Rise of the Resistance Extended hours at Hollywood Studios seem to be sticking around a lot longer than first expected! With all these new experiences in the park, we’re glad to have a few extra hours to get some rides in! Check out EVERYTHING you need to know about getting a Rise of the Resistance Boarding Pass here!
