It’s hard to believe that we’re about to say goodbye to February, but here we are. Now, we know a LOT of things are changing in Magic Kingdom, what with the big Cars expansion in Frontierland, Villains Land, and ride updates to both Big Thunder Mountain Railroad and Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin. Disney Starlight Well, a huge change is coming to Magic Kingdom’s parades, too, or rather, the park’s parade schedule. We’re going to go through these changes to make sure you don’t miss a thing if you’re visiting the parks in March (which is SOON). The Disney World calendar is showing that showtimes for both of Magic Kingdom’s parades and its cavalcade will be changing in March. Festival of Fantasy, Magic Kingdom’s daytime parade, will go from one showtime per day to two starting on March 15th at 12 PM and 3 PM. Festival of Fantasy The Disney Adventure Friends Cavalcade is changing times on March 15th, too. Instead of 10:30 AM and 11:45 AM, the cavalcade will now be held later in the day, at 5:10 PM and 6:25 PM. Adventure Friends Cavalcade Disney Starlight is showing performances at 8:15 p.m. for March 8th-11th. As of March 12th, you’ll be able to catch the parade twice each evening from 8:15 PM through 10:30 PM. The calendar is not showing dates any further than that, but we would guess this is probably just because it hasn’t been updated yet. Blue Fairy in Disney Starlight If you are visiting Disney World, though, we always recommend checking showtimes on the My Disney Experience app to double-check times for parades and other entertainment. We’ll also keep an eye out for changes, so stay tuned to DFB for more. GayDays Inc. will have festivities this year, and they’ll be held at a new host hotel in Kissimmee, organizers have announced. Earlier this month, the group said its June events had been paused, but an email to supporters and updates to its official website now indicate that they are a go for 2026. And some new events — including a comedy show and game show — have been added. Activities now are slated for the Holiday Inn & Suites Orlando SW — Celebration Area on Irlo Bronson Memorial Highway for June 4-8. The entire 440-room resort has been booked by GayDays and all official events will take place there, organizers say. “This year is about bringing the energy back together in one place,” GayDays’ Charles Cantrell said in the email. “We listened to our community and focused on creating a space that truly feels like ours,” Josh Duke said. Last year, the host hotel was Doubletree by Hilton Orlando on International Drive. The 2026 schedule now includes pool parties, foam parties, a piano lounge, comedy show, drag bingo, karaoke, Miss Gay Days Pageant, Mr. Gay Days Leather competition and a vendor expo. This will mark the 35th edition of the event. Its roots go back to 1991, when members of an online community decided to meet at Magic Kingdom theme park. They wore red shirts to help them spot one another among the Walt Disney World crowds. In the decades since, activities have expanded with multiple organizers hosting events at venues near or at theme parks and along International Drive. GayDays Inc. is one of those groups, while “gay days” continues to be a casual generic term for of all the LGBTQ-themed goings-on in Orlando the first weekend in June. More than 150,000 attendees have been reported in past years. Options for 2026 include One Magical Weekend, Bear Jamboree, Girls in Wonderland and Pride Cup, a set of athletic competitions, and other nightclub promotions. GayDays Inc. event tickets and hotel bookings are now available. For details, go to gaydays.com. dbevil@orlandosentinel.com View the full article

Dining in Disney World can add up quickly, so when we find a bargin on a meal, we’re going to talk about it! Saratoga Springs With price increases on hotel rooms, park tickets, Lightning Lanes, and food — our readers want to make their dollars stretch further in Disney World, so we do our best to keep you updated on the best places to make your budget work for you. That’s why we had to come remind you about the meal that will only cost you $12 at Disney World, plus it comes with a beer! For this meal, you’re going to head to a restaurant that you might not have ever heard of at Disney World. It’s Chip ‘n’ Dale’s Cafe at Lake Buena Vista Golf Course at Disney’s Saratoga Springs Resort. Welcome to Chip ‘n’ Dale’s Cafe Here, you can score a hot dog deal that isn’t quite as good as Costco’s hot dog deal, but it’s pretty close, especially for Disney World. You can get a 1/4 lb All-beef Hot Dog for $7, but you can make it into a combo with chips and a fountain drink for $10. Even better? You can make it a combo with domestic beer for just $12. Hot dog combo So, obviously, we wanted to check out this inexpensive lunch, so we grabbed it — with a beer. The hot dog is pretty standard, as hot dogs go at Disney, but it’s possibly a bit bigger than what you would find at other dining spots in Disney World. It’s a big hot dog However, the combo is what really makes this such a good deal, especially if you want a refreshing beer to go with that hot dog. Combo with beer One thing we found most surprising about this snack spot is that beer is generally cheaper here than at other restaurants throughout Disney World. You can get a 12oz Domestic Beer in a can for just $5. Not only that, but Dasani Bottled Water is just $2 here! Check Out Our Latest Review of Chip ‘n’ Dale’s Cafe Here! Beer and water are cheaper here We’re always on the hunt for a great Disney deal, so be sure to stay tuned to DFB for more dining reviews and news. 12 of My Favorite Snacks Under $10, From a Former Disney World Cast Member Join the DFB Newsletter to get all the breaking news right in your inbox! Budgeting for your Disney World trip? Oh, do we have HACKS for you! Getting to Disney World requires going through lots of tolls Of course, the biggest tips are to check Disney World’s Special Offers page before you book and to make use of any discounts you have. However, some smaller, sneaky budget hacks help us nip and tuck our budget along the way. We’re here to share the list! DISCLOSURE: This post may contain affiliate links, meaning when you click the links and make a purchase, we receive a commission. Buy Souvenirs in Advance First of all, we’re going to recommend that you do some souvenir shopping in advance, especially if you have little ones. I know, it may feel like this advice defeats the whole purpose of getting souvenirs, but it can be a big money saver if you don’t have to take your kids through all the gift shops and fall victim to the dozens of shelves of toys and plushes. ©Disney For example, you could go ahead and order something like this Marie Urupocha-Chan Sakura Plush from the Disney Store online and have it delivered to your house, then your child could get it as a “gift” at the hotel. A little extra magic AND saving the budget! View on Disney Store ©Amazon We also recommend snagging things like autograph books in advance — you’ll save money ordering these as compared to buying them in the parks. You can get the Disney Mickey and Friends Deluxe Autograph Book with Pen from Amazon. View on Amazon Bring Your Own Snacks Along the same lines, we often recommend that you bring your own snacks to the park! Many people don’t realize they can pack their own snacks or even full lunches in their park bags. If you’re traveling on a budget, this can be a huge cost-saving measure (even the cheapest Disney World snacks are often $5 each). ©Amazon For easy park bag snack storage, use something like these Whiskware Disney Princess Frozen Stackable Snack Containers. They’ll keep your snacks fresh and separate from the rest of your bag. View on Amazon Skip the Park Hopper My next money-saving tip is to skip the Park Hopper tickets! Many people upgrade to this offering, thinking that it’ll add more flexibility to their visit, but in reality, it often adds more difficulty. The Disney World parks aren’t super close to each other, and it typically takes an hour to travel between them (including the time to walk out, wait for transportation, ride transportation, go through security, and get into the next park). Magic Kingdom Doing all that moving back and forth means that you’ll be wasting some of your park time in transit. Also, it’ll likely tire you out even more! Save the money, time, and energy by skipping Park Hopper. If you only have 2 or 3 days, it might actually be easier to just skip a park or two entirely. Do a Split Stay It can be so tempting to spend all your budget on a fancy hotel! Staying at the Grand Floridian sounds nice, right?! But if you do a split stay, you could save money on your hotel budget and still enjoy the fancy amenities for a couple of nights. Disney’s Pop Century Save the nicer hotel for the days when you can take some time off from the parks to actually enjoy it. On the days when you’re doing the parks open to close, choose a Value Resort, a Disney Springs hotel, or an option off-property. If you’re switching from one Disney World hotel to another, they can even help you move your luggage to your next stay. Try the Swan and Dolphin! If you’re hoping to get a nice stay for a more budget-friendly price, might we recommend the Walt Disney World Swan and Dolphin? This group of three hotels is owned by Marriott and located in the EPCOT Resort Area. They get many of the same perks at the Disney World Deluxe Resorts. The Dolphin But the really good news? For much of the year, the hotel rooms here are cheaper than other Deluxe Resorts in Disney World. You can also sometimes get special deals on these hotels that aren’t available for Disney Resorts. They’re just a 10-minute walk or boat ride away from both Hollywood Studios and EPCOT — it doesn’t get much better than that! Get Your Phone Charger Ahead of Time We’re big FuelRod users here at DFB — they’re portable phone chargers that can be purchased at kiosks around Disney World and then swapped for fully charged versions after you use all their battery power. It’s actually a rather convenient system! But if you buy the chargers on Amazon ahead of time, you might save some money. Swapping out for free They sell FuelRods in a 2-pack on Amazon, and it typically costs less per charger than they do individually in the Disney World machines. Order them now, stow them in your park bag, then swap them out for free on vacation. View on Amazon So there you go — some of our best money-saving tips for Disney World! Use these, and you can shave down your budget significantly! For more tips on budgeting for your vacation, make sure to subscribe to our newsletter and our YouTube channel! Twin brothers sued Universal Orlando Resort Friday alleging they suffered back and neck injuries when a Harry Potter ride at its new Epic Universe theme park malfunctioned. Derrick Burrough of Tennessee and Erick Burrough of Georgia, who are being represented by the Morgan & Morgan law firm, are each seeking over $50,000 in damages from Universal, claiming they suffered injuries resulting in the “loss of ability to lead and enjoy a normal life,” according to separate lawsuits filed by the brothers. Promotional art for the Wizarding World of Harry Potter -- Ministry of Magic and its Harry Potter and the Battle at the Ministry ride. (Universal Orlando) The brothers were visiting Epic Universe with family on Christmas Day last year when they rode on the Harry Potter and the Battle at the Ministry ride. A malfunction occurred while they were seated, causing the ride vehicle to abruptly stop, the lawsuits said. The brothers say they were “thrusted erratically” in their seats, sustaining “significant” injuries to their necks and backs, according to the suits and a Tuesday news release from Morgan & Morgan announcing the case. “The most important job of a theme park is to keep its guests safe. Instead, Universal allegedly operated a ride that had been plagued by repeated malfunctions, glitches and hard stops since it opened,” attorney John Morgan said in the release. “Our clients continue to seek treatment for their injuries, which are impacting their everyday lives. They have filed these lawsuits to hold Universal accountable for a safety incident we allege was entirely preventable,” he said. Representatives for Universal did not immediately respond Tuesday to a request for comment. The release said online content creators and users of the social media platform Reddit have reported similar issues with Battle at the Ministry since it opened last year, including the ride being shut down for maintenance on its opening day and guests being stuck on the ride after abrupt stops for an hour and a half or more. Universal describes the ride as as a “journey deep into the Ministry’s many departments. Thrilling adventure, fantastic beasts, and unexplored mystery await.” Riders are situated in 16-passenger “magical, omnidirectional lifts” that “propel guests up, down, forward, backward, sideways and more throughout the Ministry.” The lawsuits allege Universal was negligent in maintaining the ride in a reasonably safe condition by failing to fix “a dangerous condition about which the defendant either knew or should have known.” The brothers suffered “disability, physical impairment, disfigurement, mental anguish and inconvenience; expense of hospitalization, medical and nursing care and treatment; and past lost wages, loss of earning power and diminished earning capacity,” according to the lawsuits. The suits are the latest to be filed against Universal for alleged injuries on its theme park rides. There has been an uptick in such suits following the September death of Kissimmee resident Kevin Rodriguez Zavala, who died after riding Epic Universe’s Stardust Racers rollercoaster. Zavala’s family sued but ultimately reached a settlement with Universal. Days after the settlement was reached, five other people filed separate lawsuits alleging they had suffered injuries on the same ride. View the full article

It’s that time again, folks, time to visit the delinquents. Oh no, not again! I’m sure they’ve been up to lots of nonsense like usual, and I’m here to catch them in the act! So get in your tiny cars and grab your tiny cameras…we’re going to the Tiny Train Town in EPCOT. If you’ve been following these Tiny Train Town updates for a while, you may remember me begging the powers that be to get a chessboard for the wannabe chess club. There was a group of four retired men trying to start it up, and now it seems they have been SUCCESSFUL. Unfortunately for them, a 12-year-old girl is about to whoop all of their tails. She’s a chess prodigy, and they’ve been lining up to play her this week. I stopped by during the final match of the tournament (which she was winning), and a large crowd had gathered to watch. I’m so excited for them! Around these parts, Debbie is known for spreading some pretty wild stories (she has been like this since high school, trust us), and her latest claim to fame is that she has spotted a UFO flying over Tiny Train Town. She has been sitting on this bench for three days now, trying to snap a picture for proof. We’d normally think she’s just crying wolf, but Debbie has never been this dedicated to a cause in her life. Could there really be ALIENS in our village?! (And if there are aliens in the village, where do you think they came from? Are these the ones from Stitch’s Great Escape?) Maybe don’t talk to her… In a wild turn of events, the herd of sheep that lives in the mountains has started dueling each other, and one was recently pushed off the edge of the cliff. This is particularly unusual behavior for the normally docile animals, and local shepherds are investigating. It seems we could have another strain of dangerous livestock disease on our hands…is this MAD SHEEP DISEASE?! A sheep uprising! Finally, I stopped by one of our local gas stations to find that it had been abandoned after going out of business. Now, there’s a vacant building in town for a new business owner to purchase! If you’ve got a business idea that you think could perform well in the village, contact the mayor’s office, and we’ll get you the real estate information. We’d love to have some new small businesses in town! Going out of business? Thanks for coming along with me on this wild tour around town! Of course, if we learn of any more ridiculous happenings, we’ll keep you in the loop. * The anarchy within is mostly created by natural occurrences, like giant squirrels, wind, rain, and relatively godzilla-sized lizards who frequent the town; but we find it fun and entertaining to make up fictional stories about what COULD be happening. We are grateful to the folks who create and maintain this Tiny Train Town for Disney World, as it’s one of our favorite parts of EPCOT and always has been. My favorite #DisneyCastLife event of the year is back! Goofy’s Mystery Tour – this year dubbed Goofy’s Mystiki Tour – is a cast-only competition packed with challenging Disney trivia, brain teaser puzzles, and a dash of scavenger hunting, with about 300 teams competing in Disney’s Animal Kingdom after the park closes. I want to share why this event means so much to me and the very special person who makes it unforgettable every single year. Cast members from all lines of business can form a four-person team and compete. My team includes me, representing Walt Disney World communications, one of my good friends from EPCOT attractions, Disney Cruise Line communications and our clutch player, my mom, Janet! She flies in from Chicago every single year just to compete with us! Each team has the opportunity to make their fourth teammate a family member or friend, and when there’s a #DisneyCastLife exclusive event where I can bring a guest, my first phone call is always to my mom. If you know me, you know that I always say that in our family “MOM” stands for “Maker of Magic.” My mom surprised me with my very first trip to Walt Disney World when I was just four years old and I was hooked. I didn’t know it then, but that trip set me on a path. It’s no surprise that I did a Disney College Program and then stayed to continue my career with the company. It’s because of my mom’s love, hard work, and passion in making magic for me that I get to have a career making magic for others. “I got to ride Guardians of the Galaxy, Tiana’s Bayou Adventure, see the new Villains show all before they opened as your guest at cast previews. I’ve seen you sing in Cast Choir in the EPCOT Candlelight Processional,” my mom shared. “But by far, my favorite Cast thing that you get to do is Goofy’s Mystery Tour because we get to do it together and because it is really challenging but really exciting.” And when she says it’s challenging, she means it. Every year, I host a virtual practice session for our team. We quiz each other on Disney trivia and then I assign everyone study topics like international parks, Disney history, Marvel and Star Wars, movies, TV shows and more. Pretty much anything under the Disney umbrella is fair game. After trivia, we practice puzzles or revisit ones that we struggled with in previous years, and this is where my mom truly shines. She sails through the puzzles easily and makes a huge difference in our team’s success. “Shout out to the cast members on the Clue Crew,” she said. “They create so many engaging puzzles year after year and it’s my favorite part of the night.” Each year my mom also takes us out to a team dinner as a way to say thank you for inviting her to compete. No thanks necessary, I just love having her here. It’s become one of my favorite traditions. It’s a chance to reconnect with friends, laugh, and fully step into the spirit of the event before we head to Disney’s Animal Kingdom. I don’t get to work with the cast members on my team every day like I used to, so the teamwork and strategy that comes with Goofy’s Mystery Tour feel like a fun throwback to old times. As we expected, this year’s event was amazing. When we were debriefing on the ride home, Alyssa said, “Genuinely, every moment was filled with so much fun!” Celina added, “Yes! The way we just bounce off of each other and got each puzzle done was so incredible.” Goofy’s Mystiki Tour brought together 1,200 cast members, their friends and family to Disney’s Animal Kingdom for a special night of trivia, puzzles, and unforgettable after hours Disney magic. For more than 30 years, this cast exclusive nighttime adventure has connected generations of cast members through creativity and classic Goofy fun with the park reopening to guests the next morning. And it really was incredible. One of us would start a puzzle and if we got stuck, another teammate would jump in to help. Even when we were stumped by a puzzle or hunting for clues around Asia, we were still cracking jokes and soaking in the magical experience created for cast members. Best of all, we solved all 12 clue puzzles for the third year in a row! It was one of those nights where we had such a blast that we were already talking about next year before we even got home. I’ll be honest, we take this event seriously, but we still aren’t a top-scoring team in the bunch. Our P.R. (personal record) is in the fun and not the points. And I think that’s what this event is really about. I’ve stayed in touch with old co-workers that became friends, and I get to bring my mom into a piece of the magic we experience each day. Working at Disney just isn’t like working anywhere else. At the end of the day, Goofy’s Mystiki Tour is more than a competition to me. It’s a reminder of why so many of us choose to build our careers here. Disney creates opportunities not just to work, but to learn, grow, try new amazing things and then share moments of wonder with the people who matter most, our families and fellow cast members. If you are staying at the Swan Resort at Disney World and need a quick breakfast fix before heading into the parks, Java at Swan might just be your new best friend. Java at Swan We stopped by this walk-up spot to check out a few menu items, and we have some thoughts. First things first: Java is one of those grab-and-go spots that genuinely has a little bit of everything. Inside Java at Swan Beyond the coffee and food menu, their refrigerated section stocks bottled and canned wines, beers, sodas, sports drinks, and water. They even carry basic medications like Advil and Benadryl, which, honestly, is the kind of convenience that resort guests really appreciate after a long day on their feet. Inside Java at Swan Also, the line moves quickly, and the staff are friendly and efficient, which always sets the right tone for a morning outing. C3 Dark Roast Coffee and Collagen — $6.50 If you are a dark roast fan, the C3 is worth your attention. What impressed us right away was how smooth it tasted. There was none of that harsh, burnt aftertaste that can ruin a cup of dark roast coffee. When you order, you have access to a whole customization station with syrup options, a variety of milk choices, including oat and almond milk, sugar options, and different creamers. C3 coffee from Java at Swan So whether you take your coffee black or love to doctor it up, this is a solid base to work with. The added collagen is a nice bonus for anyone who cares about that sort of thing, and at $6.50, it is a reasonable price for a resort coffee that actually delivers on flavor. The Standard — $12.00 Listen, the name doesn’t exactly inspire excitement, but do not let that fool you. This breakfast sandwich came on a croissant roll that was genuinely soft and a little buttery (which we didn’t see coming). The Standard from Java at Swan The bacon and egg both tasted fresh, and while the egg had that familiar, rounded fast-food-style patty vibe (think Egg McMuffin territory), it was fluffy and satisfying. Now, the bacon was on the softer side rather than crispy (we know that’s a polarizing detail for bacon lovers). If you are firmly in the crunchy bacon camp, consider yourself warned. Inside of The Standard from Java at Swan The pepper jack cheese, though, was a standout addition. It gave the whole sandwich a small but noticeable kick that elevated what could have been a completely forgettable breakfast bite. For $12 at a Disney resort walk-up, we were honestly more impressed than we expected to be. Mickey Waffles — $7.50 Mickey Waffles are always going to have a special place in our hearts, and getting them at a walk-up location is a treat in itself. Mickey Waffles from Java at Swan These come dusted with cinnamon powdered sugar and served with maple syrup, and the powdered sugar flavor genuinely comes through in a way that makes them feel a little more special than your standard waffle. The one honest critique here is that they ran a little dry even with the syrup, so don’t be shy about asking for extra. Mickey Waffles from Java at Swan Also, in the spirit of full transparency, these aren’t the most practical walking-around food. They are better enjoyed at a table where you can take your time. But the novelty of Mickey Waffles at a walk-up window makes it worth the slight logistical challenge. Mickey Waffles from Java at Swan Overall, Java at Swan is a convenient, well-stocked spot that punches above its weight for a hotel walk-up. The C3 coffee alone could make it a regular morning stop, and The Standard sandwich is a pleasant surprise. We would absolutely visit again. More Recent Reviews! It has been fascinating to watch the rise of Bluey over the years! Bluey and Bingo The extremely popular property has expanded far beyond the TV screen. Bluey is getting a ride in the UK and is even coming to Disney World for the very first time. Those experiences you’ll have to wait for, but you know what you don’t have to wait for? A new Bluey experience in Florida, only this one isn’t at a Disney Park! What if we told you that you can explore Bluey’s backyard?! That’s right, over in Miami and Minneapolis, you can visit Bluey’s backyard at Bluey x CAMP. It’s an experience described as “an immersive playdate where your family can step right into Bluey’s world — this time, in her backyard! You’ll laugh, play, pretend, and explore through guided activities inspired by Bluey’s favorite games, from Shadowlands to Rug Island to Pizza Girls. And yes — you’ll get to meet Bluey, too!” ©Bluey x CAMP Guests can spend up to one hour playing in Bluey’s Backyard. However, kiddos can enjoy other CAMP activities like arts and crafts before and after their playtime. If you’re interested, tickets are available for purchase right now on the CAMP website. You’ll need to select a time slot for your visit when purchasing, but you can reschedule that time up to two hours in advance. ©Bluey x CAMP We’ve seen CAMP do a Bluey experience before when they offered a visit inside Bluey’s house. However, families wanted a little more “open play.” Bluey’s Backyard features a playground, crafts, interactions with Bluey, and a “Dance Mode.” If you’re looking to bring your little ones to the experience, it’s designed for kids ages 3-8. It seems like we’re constantly writing about changes coming to Disney World these days, and top among them are some serious shifts happening in Hollywood Studios. ©Disney Not only is the park getting Monstropolis where Muppets Courtyard used to be and a Muppet overlay at Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster, but Animation Courtyard is in the middle of a major overhaul. The area is going back to its animation roots, and Disney just revealed some details about what will be included there. However, the announcement included a controversial decision. As part of the transformation of Animation Courtyard, the former home of Star Wars: Launch Bay is being turned into The Magic of Disney Animation. Here, you’ll walk under the iconic Sorcerer Mickey hat into a building where you can watch a short film, view portraits of Disney characters coming to life, and learn to draw Disney characters! ©Disney What is this new drawing class? It’s called Olaf Draws! and it’s inspired by the Disney100 short film, Once Upon a Studio. In the short film, portraits of Disney characters come to life, and there’s a moment where we find Olaf sitting at an animator’s desk inside Walt Disney Studios. Now, the new drawing class will feature an animatronic of Olaf on stage, teaching you how to draw various Disney characters. ©Disney But the change that fans are worried about here? There’s no live animator! Instead of a Cast Member or animator guiding you through the process live, you’ll be watching a pre-recorded video of someone drawing a Disney character. This is different from the animation experiences Disney World and Disneyland Resort have offered in the past. The former Animation Experience at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Theme Park The Animation Experience at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Theme Park recently closed, but it was hosted by a Cast Member teaching you how to drive characters live in person. This allowed for a lot of flexibility with which characters you might learn to draw — they would sometimes offer seasonal themes, like when a new movie was released. Animation Experience At Disney California Adventure, the Animation Academy is run by a live animator as well. Each day, they put out a sign announcing all the characters that will be offered for the different class times, and they offer a LOT of variety with plenty of rare characters. ©Disney The live animator-hosted classes allow Disney to interject personality and relatability into the experience, and they offer more variety in terms of characters — meaning people are more likely to come back and do the class again and again. Even though the Olaf animatronic fits with the theme of the short film, some Disney fans are expressing their disappointment that we won’t get the “personal” experience of doing a class with an animator. Alternatively, the addition of Olaf may draw in more children and Frozen fans to this experience. We’ll just have to wait and see! Hopefully, Disney will continue to record more animation videos and there will be a decent variety in the characters offered for this class in the future. Disney has revealed the following character list for the pre-recorded videos: Mickey Mouse, with Dan Abraham, director (Once Upon A Studio, Baymax!) Minnie Mouse, with Hyun Min Lee, animator (Frozen 2, The Princess and the Frog) Donald Duck, with Austin Traylor, animator (Once Upon A Studio, Moana 2) Genie, with Eric Goldberg, animator (Aladdin, Hercules) Moana, with Samantha Vilfort, story artist (Encanto, Zootopia 2) Stitch, with Fawn Veerasunthorn, director and head of story (Wish, Raya and the Last Dragon) Olaf, with Trent Correy, director (Once Upon A Studio, Frozen 3) Ursula, with Michael Woodside, animator (Big Hero 6, Encanto) Judy Hopps & Nick Wilde, with Byron Howard, director (Zootopia, Zootopia 2) ©Disney All these offerings will be opening in late summer 2026, and we’ll be there to share all the updates. Disney World Resort food courts…you either love ’em or hate ’em. Let’s go to Sassagoula Floatworks & Food Factory! Some are arguably better than others (we’re not exactly raving about the dining options at the All-Star Resorts), but when you’re in a bind, they’re often available with some crowd-pleasing and occasionally exclusive dining options. Recently, we made a visit to Sassagoula Floatworks & Food Factory at Port Orleans Resort — French Quarter, and here we’ve rounded up our thoughts on the experience! Atmosphere Sassagoula Floatworks & Food Factory is located in the main building of the French Quarter, right next door to our beloved Mickey beignets at Scat Cat’s Club — Cafe. Like the rest of the French Quarter, the restaurant has a Mardi Gras theme. Entrance Disney World’s Value Resorts and Moderate Resorts all have food court-style dining options, and this is very similar to the others in its setup. When you first enter, you’ll find the various food “stalls” where you can order different types of cuisine. There are different food stalls! There are also plenty of grab-and-go options like bottled drinks, prepackaged salads, chips, fruit, and candy. Beverages Once you’ve got your meal, you’ll check out at one of the registers. There, you can pick up your drink cups. Check out For drinks, they have beverage stations with a few different options like soda, coffee, tea, and juice. The French Quarter is one of the few hotels home to a Coca-Cola Freestyle machine. This is also where you’ll find utensils, napkins, and some condiments. Coca-Cola Freestyle Then, we’ve got the seating. It’s pretty open, mostly consisting of classic tables and chairs. The views out the windows here are pretty lovely, though! Seating But enough about the restaurant — what’s on the menu here?! Menu You’ll visit a different ordering stall at the restaurant depending on what you want to eat. One option has selections with various burgers and sandwiches, such as Jerk BBQ Chicken or a Beef and Fried Shrimp Burger. Entrees For a healthier option, you can go to the Create-Your-Own Entree station. Here, you select a protein and choose two sides. This is a great spot if you’ve got a hankering for a vegetable. Healthier options The Italian station has pasta and pizza, as well as Shrimp and Grits (random to put that over here, but I digress). Each station also offers a couple of kids’ meals. They’ve got pizza! Then, there’s the regular Entrees station with items that are more signature to this resort. This is where you can get both the Jambalaya and the Gumbo. More options Of course, we wouldn’t have a complete menu without dessert. The dessert area has seasonal sweets, ice cream, brownies, and cookies. Desserts And now, onto the main event — the food! Eats We started our meal with the Jambalaya for $12.49. This is one of AJ’s favorites, so we were hyped to have it again and see if it still lives up to its name. Jambalaya This had a LOT of chicken and sausage with a moderate Cajun seasoning in the rice. It’s service with a piece of cornbread that was fairly sweet yet a little dry. We’d consider this mildly spicy, but there’s not too much of a kick overall. The onions, bell peppers, and celery inside were all cooked until soft, and the tomato sauce flavor is the strongest element. We found the sauce to be just a little bit too runny today, but we’d definitely order this again! Inside the Jambalaya Next up, we’ve got another classic, the Gumbo for $10.99. This one’s made with chicken and okra. Gumbo This was a bit less spicy than the Jambalaya, but still had a decent Cajun seasoning to it. The rice was thick and cooked thoroughly, and there was a wonderful rice-to-gumbo ratio here. The fresh okra was a smidge on the slimy side, but that was less noticeable when eaten with the rest of the dish. We’d order this again, too, but probably pick the Jambalaya over it. A big spoonful! The third entree we snagged was the Shrimp Po’ Boy for $14.49. This is made with fried shrimp, rèmoulade sauce (a mayo sauce with Cajun seasoning), and French fries on the side. Shrimp Po’ Boy This was made fresh after we ordered it, so it took a minute, but honestly, it was worth it for the quality! The shrimp are salty with some Cajun seasoning (got a lot of that going on at this restaurant), and the breading was crispy and hot. Lettuce and tomato add some fresh flavors to the sandwich, and the remoulade gave everything a spicy kick while still being creamy. The bread was nice and soft, and this was a very filling portion with the classic Disney fries on the side. Inside the sandwich Finally, we wrapped up our meal with dessert, which was the seasonal cheesecake flavor! Right now, they’ve got Strawberry Cheesecake for $6.29. This has a strawberry filling in the middle and a cute little Mickey Mouse sugar cookie on top. A cutie! This was sweet and light, super soft with a good cream cheese flavor and smooth texture. The strawberry filling was tart but not overpowering. Everything was so soft that it fell apart when we cut into it, and the strawberry filling poured out like a lava cake. This was good, but not really something we’d recommend going out of your way for. Cheesecake So how did Sassagoula Floatworks & Food Factory stack up? Nosh or Not This Disney World restaurant is a must-visit if… You’re staying at the French Quarter and need a quick meal! This is the main quick service spot at the hotel that serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner. While you can get beignets next door or some eats at the pool bar, this has a fuller menu. You’re craving some Louisiana classics. The Cajun fare here is actually pretty decent compared to quick service options in Disney World, which makes this one of the better food courts at the hotels. AJ even goes out of her way to go order that Jambalaya! You should skip this Disney World spot if… You have other plans for the day than staying at the resort. While the food here is decent, we wouldn’t exactly recommend it over some of the more exciting options in the theme parks. Even if you’re doing an off day from the parks, the French Quarter is a short boat ride away from Disney Springs, where there are some amazing restaurants. You have time or money for a sit-down meal, and it’s dinnertime. If you have the capability to do a sit-down meal, we really love Scat Cat’s Club — Lounge for dinner, or Boatwright’s Dining Hall at Port Orleans — Riverside next door. Overall Ultimately, Sassagoula Floatworks & Food Factory makes a really good standing among the food court-style restaurants in Disney World. With unique menu items and a less chaotic atmosphere, this is a truly decent fast option if you’re staying at this hotel. We’d go back again to get that Jambalaya or Gumbo, and even the Shrimp Po’ Boy! A good spot to dine, honestly! In the meantime, we’ll be on the lookout for more restaurant updates from Disney World and beyond. Make sure you stay tuned to the Disney Food Blog for the latest Disney news and more! Picking and choosing what to try at the 2026 EPCOT International Flower & Garden Festival is a tough task, but we’ve got a list of booths that are at the top of our lineup on opening day! Full Spread at Brunchcot Our team is always there on opening festival day to tackle every food booth to make our Best of the Fest list! This can help you decide what booths are worth your time (and money!) when you visit this year. The 2026 EPCOT Flower & Garden Festival will run from March 4th through June 1st, 2026. As we get excited about everything there is to see and do this year, let’s take a look at a few booths that consistently impress us. Beach Grub The Beach Grub was a brand-new booth last year, and it won our hearts by being our favorite festival booth of the year. Everything here was a win. The Seafood Bake was full of seafood that was just cooked perfectly. The Grilled Street Corn on the Cob was our favorite thing at the booth. The S’Mores Bar was done so beautifully and somehow managed to be a light dessert, although the snack itself was too physically heavy for the stick it came on. We’re excited to see if it holds up this year. Read Our Full Review of Beach Grub Booth from 2025 Here! Beach Grub Full Spread Brunchcot Brunchcot is consistently one of our favorite booths during Flower and Garden. The menu stays about the same, and honestly, we love it for that. The Fried Cinnamon Roll Bites are something we may dream about year-round, and the fruit cereal shake literally tastes like slurping up Fruit Loops cereal milk if it were converted into shake form. Read Our BRUNCHCOT Review From Last Year Fried Cinnamon Roll Bites Honey Bee-Stro There are two dishes here that made our Best of the Fest list in 2025. Honey-glazed Cauliflower at Honey Bee-Stro is a dish we’ve loved every time we’ve had it over the last few years. It’s colorful, it photographs well, and most importantly, it’s delicious. This just combines all kinds of wonderful flavors, and we’ll keep coming back to this booth to get it again and again. We need to mention the Honey Peach Cobbler Freeze with streusel. It’s sweet and fruity, and the streusel on top adds a nice texture. We’re excited to see what sweet things Honey Bee-Stro brings to us this year. Read Our 2025 Review of Honey Bee-Stro Honey Bee-Stro Spread Fleur de Lys The flavors of France at Fleur de Lys are always some of our favorites, and the desserts here are always a must! Last year, we enjoyed everything we tried, with the standouts being the Croissant au Fromage de Chèvre, Gnocchis Provencal Aux Herbes, and the La Vie en Rose Frozen Slush. However, you really can’t go wrong with anything at this booth. The flavors are top-notch, and we left feeling very satisfied with our food and drinks. Click HERE for Our 2025 Review of Fleur de Lys Outdoor Kitchen! Fleur de Lys The Citrus Blossom The Citrus Blossom is another booth we can always count on. We can’t say enough good things about this booth. The orange lemon smoothie is a hit for kids and adults alike, and we dream about that tempura shrimp all year long. We loved the plant-based lumpia, and the baked brie and lemon tart are both delicious as well. We’re excited to see what will return this year. Read Our 2025 Citrus Blossom Review Here! Dishes and Drinks at The Citrus Blossom Hanami If you’re looking for the Festival’s famous Frushi, Hanami is the place! This “fruit sushi” is made with Strawberry, Pineapple, and Cantaloupe wrapped in Sweet Rice and Pink Soy Wrap, served with Whipped Cream, Drizzled Berry Sauce, and Toasted Coconut. This is a super popular festival item and a favorite for the kiddos and folks who just love the simple joy of fruit. It is so flavorful, creative, and tasty. While other items at the booth can be a hit or miss, we will still come for the Frushi. Click HERE For Last Year’s Review of Hanami Outdoor Kitchen! Frushi at Hanami Pineapple Promenade The Frozen Desert Violet Lemonade at Pineapple Promenade is a returning drink, and it is JUST as good as it’s been in the past every year. It’s got that perfect slushy texture with a nice sourness complemented by sweetness. If you love frozen lemonade, it’s a must-try. We also love that the flowers are grown in The Land Pavilion in EPCOT, and they’re edible, so EAT the flowers, too. Frozen Desert Violet Lemonade We will be at this year’s Flower and Garden Festival on opening day to report our new best of the fest and see if these booths still hold a place in our hearts. Big news out of the Disney Cruise Line world! We’ve been looking forward to the maiden voyage of the Disney Adventure, Disney’s newest cruise ship, on March 10th for months now, and it’s finally almost here. ©Disney This ship is settling sail from Singapore and will cruise through Southeast Asia on 3 and 4 night voyages. The ship has seven themed areas featuring Disney, Pixar, and Marvel stories. With such a heavy emphasis on Marvel, we weren’t surprised that Disney just announced who the godparent of this new ship is — none other than Robert Downey Jr.! In case you’re unfamiliar, each Disney Cruise Line ship gets a godparent, someone who will bring good luck and great voyages to the ship and its passengers for years to come! The Disney Treasure’s godparent is The Walt Disney Company cast, crew, Imagineers, and employees around the world, and Susan Egan was named the godparent of the Disney Destiny in 2025. ©Disney || Marvel Landing concept art for the Disney Adventure When announcing Robert Downey Jr. as the godparent of this new ship, Josh D’Amaro is quoted as saying, “Our new ship continues Disney Cruise Line’s tradition of bringing great stories to life at sea, and we are honored that Robert Downey Jr., who has guided audiences through unforgettable Marvel stories, is the official godparent for the Disney Adventure.” ©Blackstone Publishing The Marvel Cinematic Universe is the highest-grossing film franchise of all time, and Robert Downey Jr.’s portrayal of Tony Stark/Iron Man was a large part of that. When speaking about the decision, he stated, “It’s impossible to describe the majesty of the Adventure, and to be its godparent is an honor. As the largest ship in the Disney fleet, a gargantuan blessing must be bestowed … I’ll do my darndest.” The seven themed areas of the new cruise ship include Disney Imagination Garden, Disney Discovery Reef, Wayfinder Bay, Town Square, Marvel Landing, and Toy Story Place. Additionally, there will be rotational dining on board, character meet and greets, Broadway-style shows, themed staterooms, and so much more that we know and love about cruising with Disney. If you’re staying at a Deluxe Disney World Resort, you can enjoy the awesome perk of Extended Evening Hours. Extended Evening Hours at Animal Kingdom Extended Evening Hours are offered a couple of times a week, where Deluxe Resort guests get two extra hours in a particular park after it closes to day guests. For most of the year, Extended Evening Hours are offered at Magic Kingdom and EPCOT, but now they’re returning to Animal Kingdom! According to the Disney World calendar, Extended Evening Hours will be available at Disney’s Animal Kingdom on Monday, May 4th. That day, Animal Kingdom will be open from 8AM-6PM, and Extended Evening Hours will be offered from 6PM-8PM. Animal Kingdom During Extended Evening Hours It makes sense that this perk will be offered at Animal Kingdom as we get closer to summer. This is a park that doesn’t usually stay open late for the sake of the animals, and when May rolls around, it’ll be getting dark later in the evening. The one downside to this perk being offered in Animal Kingdom is that there isn’t as much to experience as there is at the other parks. Extended evening hours in Animal Kingdom During Extended Evening Hours at Animal Kingdom, the four attractions available are: Avatar Flight of Passage Expedition Everest – Legend of the Forbidden Mountain Na’vi River Journey Zootopia: Better Zoogether! The DinoLand, U.S.A. attractions used to be included, but that land closed completely at the beginning of February 2026. Kilimanjaro Safaris typically closes before or around sunset anyway. Flight of Passage During these hours, wait times in the park are typically quite short, meaning you can get popular attractions done faster than you could during the daytime. If you can hang late, they’re a great way to get the most of your Deluxe Resort stay. Many guests staying at Walt Disney World hotels are running into issues regarding refrigerators. Beverage Cooler See, many Disney World no longer have real refrigerators, being equipped instead with beverage coolers. These beverage coolers run at about 40 degrees, making them cool enough for drinks, but not cold enough to safely store items like medications, breastmilk, formula, or most refrigerated food items. However, there is something you can do. DISCLOSURE: This post may contain affiliate links, meaning when you click the links and make a purchase, we receive a commission. Large Leakproof Ice Bag ©Amazon According to the manufacturer, these ice bags are designed keep your food cold and dry, and they’re convenient to travel with. ©Amazon These bags can be filled with ice from the ice machine at the hotel, and then put into the beverage cooler to reduce its temperature and make it food safe. ©Amazon These bags come equipped with “a premium pop-open spout so you don’t lose the top or your mind hunting lost screw tops. Reinforced seams survive dozens of refills without splitting.” ©Amazon Furthermore, “the 3-layer construction is noticeably thicker than the copy cats. Food-safe, BPA-free means you can drink the meltwater without worry.” SHOP HERE Owala Rapunzel Water Bottle Rapunzel Owala Speaking of keeping things cool, we’d be remiss if we didn’t also recommend this Owala water bottle for your next Disney trip.
