Thin Mint Churro We couldn’t believe it either when we saw at a sign for it at Sunshine Churros today! What evil genius had concocted this creation?!? Thin Mint Churro The Thin Mint Churro is a double helix of minty, chocolatey churro-ness dusted generously in milk chocolate powder, then drizzled with mint icing, Ghirardelli chocolate fudge, and garnished with a fresh sprig of mint. Thin Mint Churro Things got really real for us when we bit into the Thin Mint Churro. To us, the flavors taste just like the classic Girl Scout cookie! 10. Brace yourselves Star Wars fans because we’re about to enter a whole new era of Star Wars storytelling! Code name “Project Luminous” has now been revealed as Star Wars: The High Republic. Later this year, Disney Publishing Worldwide and Lucasfilm will launch the multi-year publishing program, Star Wars: The High Republic. The program will roll out in phases and explore a time, about 200 years before the events of Star Wars: The Phantom Menace, when the Galactic Republic and the Jedi Order are at their height, serving and protecting the expanding galaxy. But while this may seem like a promising time, something wicked will reveal itself, and we will learn what the Jedi fear. Through a series of books and comics, you’ll be able to delve into a never-before-explored period of the Star Wars timeline that won’t overlap any of the movies or series currently planned for production. This means more adventures as new characters explore the galaxy, pioneer the Outer Rim, and face new dangers. This epic new story will be brought to life through several authors, including top-tier names like Claudia Gray, Justina Ireland, Daniel José Older, Cavan Scott, and Charles Soule. So look out for adult and young adult novels, children’s books, and comics from publishers like Disney Lucasfilm Press, Del Rey, IDW Publishing, and Marvel! The first books and comics will debut at Star Wars Celebration Anaheim in August 2020 with Star Wars: The High Republic: Light of the Jedi by Charles Soule and Star Wars: The High Republic: A Test of Courage by Justina Ireland. Check out all the titles that have been announced so far! Learn more about the creative musical process in the video below: “This is a full circle moment for me,” said Todrick, who began his career at Walt Disney World Resort in Florida as a performer in ‘Beauty and the Beast – Live on Stage.’ “I learned how to dance from watching Disney parades, so the fact that I am getting to create the music that these iconic Disney characters are going to be performing to is pretty much the most epic thing that has happened to me in my life!” For another behind-the-scenes peek with Todrick, check our recording session video on the Disney Parks Blog here. 17. Loungefly has been slaying the backpack game in Disney World and Disneyland. We can rock a new one for every day of the week, like the classic Mickey and Minnie backpacks or Kermit and Miss Piggy. Kermit Loungefly Backpack A new Loungefly collection has recently hit the parks and it’s already stealing our hearts. Disney and Loungfly have released NEW Disney Pets backpacks! No matter if you’re a Lady and the Tramp fan or more of a Cheshire Cat person, you can snag a backpack inspired by your favorite Disney fur-babies. Loungefly Backpacks We’re really digging the details on these two backpacks! We mean how cute is it that they have ears? The floppy dog ears are adorable! Disney Dogs Loungefly backpack Inside, you can spot different patterns to remind us of our furry friends. Inside the dog bag, we can spot some paw-prints and bones. Disney Dogs Loungefly inside The cats have loved playing with this yarn and fish-bone design (don’t worry, there’s no actual bones in the backpack). Disney Cats Loungefly inside We found the Disney Dogs Loungefly at World of Disney in Disney Springs and the Disney Cats Loungefly at Riverside Depot in Disney’s Animal Kingdom, but we’ll keep an eye out for them in Disneyland, too! 18. Come, dear readers, our destiny awaits. Onward Photo-Op We are going on a grand and glorious quest to Disney Springs for the newest Onward inspired treat. HUZZAH! Yesterday we shared that a new Onward-themed float would be making it’s way to Disney Springs and today we’re here to check it out. While you might not be able to spot Guinevere anymore (bummer), The Lightfloat looks as if it should be full of wonder, adventure, and magic! Or so we thought… The Lightfloat The float is mixed up with cotton candy lemonade, vanilla soft serve, and topped with more cotton candy. Plus, our favorite l’il wizard Ian Lightfoot is wielding the AWESOME wizard staff his dad left behind as an enchanting garnish. The Newest Onward Inspired Treat Holy tooth of Zadar is this float… different? The lemonade is super tart compared to the sweet vanilla soft serve, which isn’t our favorite combo, although, we still LOVE that good ole’ Disney soft serve! But we do know that a ton of people love this flavor combo, so if you’re a fan vanilla ice cream and lemonade together, this may be the float for you! Cotton Candy Lemonade and Vanilla Soft Serve When it came to the exciting cotton candy flavor, we were a bit let down as we didn’t taste it in the lemonade at all. The cotton candy is yummy, but it did melt into the float pretty quickly, so you might want to snack on that first! And sadly, we found that the candy image of Ian on top doesn’t really taste like anything and was pretty difficult to eat. Overall, we were pretty underwhelmed by the float and wished the flavors would have been more appealing! But, we do think it’s a really cute and fun opening day Onward treat nonetheless. The Lightfloat Although our quest for The Lighfloat was a bit uneventful, you can still use your visitation spell to visit the adorable Onward photo-op featuring Barley and Ian in Disney Springs! You can spot it in front of Once Upon A Toy. Onward Photo-Op If you want to try it for yourself, you can get your own The Lightfloat at Marketplace Snacks for $6. Check out all the magical Onward merch (there’s a wizard staff!!) in Disney World here! Have you seen Onward in theaters yet? Let us know in the comments below! Related posts: UM, YUM! 21. NASSAU, BAHAMAS (March 6, 2020) – During a special award ceremony held this morning at the LJM Maritime Academy in Nassau, Disney Cruise Line awarded scholarships to four female cadets to attend the maritime academy. The scholarships, one for each of the ships in the Disney Cruise Line fleet, include two years of study at LJM Maritime Academy and one year of service aboard a Disney ship. “We’re proud to have women in prominent leadership roles across our fleet,” said Yvonne Sweeney, Disney Cruise Line vice president of human resources. “Disney Cruise Line is committed to inspiring future female leaders in the maritime industry and this scholarship program is one of many ways we’re delivering on this. It’s truly an honor to recognize these talented young women and make their dreams a reality.” The following cadets were selected based on the demonstration of academic excellence along with their aspirations to become ship captains and shipboard leaders: Christina Adderley, Eleuthera Christina Adderley grew up watching the cruise ships in the harbor on Eleuthera and was enchanted with the water. She hopes to work as a marine engineer onboard. Adderley says this scholarship has “catapulted a little island girl into the city … and beyond,” and her dreams are now within reach. Emily Bain, New Providence Emily Bain became interested in the maritime industry as a teenager. She looks forward to a career as an officer in the bridge room because she says it is “a portal into the next dimension where critical thinking and the impossible take place.” Paula Greene, Grand Bahama Paula Greene has always been eager to explore the high seas. She hopes to work in the deck department as a marine pilot. Greene says one of the things she most looks forward to in her career is experiencing the stories and adventures that take place on a ship – particularly the smiles of happy families and children. Antoinique Lightbourn, New Providence Antoinique Lightbourn’s fascination with the sea grew from her childhood boating trips with her father. She hopes to work in the deck department where she can contribute to the navigational safety and integrity of a ship. Since 2014, the LJM Maritime Academy has worked to provide local professional-level training to future maritime professionals in The Bahamas. “Our purpose is to help cadets create meaningful paths in the maritime industry, shaping the future of both the industry, and our country,” said Dr. Brenda Cleare, president of the LJM Maritime Academy. “We’re grateful to Disney for their continued support of the academy and for providing scholarships to these remarkable young women. We’re so proud of these cadets and are excited to see where the future takes them.” This scholarship program is part of a larger collection of initiatives Disney Cruise Line has implemented to inspire future maritime professionals and support communities across The Bahamas. Disney Cruise Line has enjoyed an ongoing relationship with LJM Maritime Academy for many years. Last summer, Disney Cruise Line sponsored the academy’s camp program giving more than 40 Bahamian students the chance to learn more about the local and global maritime industry and gain a better understanding of its career opportunities. Disney has supported communities in The Bahamas in a variety of ways for more than 20 years. In addition to crew members regularly hosting reading programs in The Bahamas, Disney Cruise Line annually brings Disney characters and gifts to children in Nassau and the Abaco Islands to help celebrate the holiday season. Disney Cruise Line also recently began supporting the community in Eleuthera, providing funding for holiday events, cultural activities, an after-school program, college visits to Florida by high school students from Eleuthera and more. Recently, Disney Cruise Line announced that it has also entered into an agreement with the Access Accelerator Small Business Development Centre and the Eleuthera Chamber of Commerce to prepare startups and small businesses for participation in development projects underway in Central and South Eleuthera, including Disney’s Lighthouse Point project. Disney is providing more than $1 million to fund the initiative over three years. Since its maiden voyage in 1998, Disney Cruise Line has introduced countless families to the beauty and spirit of The Bahamas. At the same time, the company has provided significant economic impact while demonstrating a strong commitment to the environment and the community. Today, 75 percent of the cruises offered by Disney Cruise Line have at least one stop in The Bahamas. It is estimated that Disney Cruise Line operations contribute more than $70 million toward the Bahamas gross domestic product annually.
