  1. On behalf of a talented team of Imagineers and incredible team of collaborators, I are thrilled to finally be able to announce that Avengers Campus—an entirely new land dedicated to discovering, recruiting and training the next generation of heroes—will open July 18, 2020 at the Disneyland Resort! And that’s only the beginning… today we are also unveiling our new attraction’s name, exciting casting news, rich details about the land itself and brand-new artist concept renderings. As we’ve previously shared, Avengers Campus invites you to team up with the Avengers and their allies in a fully immersive land at Disney California Adventure park. Avengers Campus is comprised of several heroic locations—each hosted by a different Super Hero or their ally—to share their unique powers, technology and knowledge with recruits. Sling webs with Spider-Man Our first key location, the Worldwide Engineering Brigade—also known as WEB—is home to the first Disney ride-through attraction to feature a favorite neighborhood her: Spider-Man. This new family-friendly attraction, WEB SLINGERS: A Spider-Man Adventure, invites guests to put their web-slinging skills to the test. The innovative technology adapted specifically for this attraction includes a seamless blend of 3D and new interface, which allows guests to go on a mission and experience what it’s like to have super powers and sling webs alongside Spider-Man. WEB is all about how bright young innovators like Peter Parker are inventing new technologies that let all of us become Super Heroes. Being able to authentically represent Peter’s character was a critical element to our story, and thanks to our Studio partners, I’m excited to share that Tom Holland will reprise his role as part of this attraction experience. It was an honor to get to work with Tom, and I can’t wait for guests to experience the amazing talent, humor, and heart he’s bringing to this attraction when it opens this summer. “Suit up” with the latest gear, including Spider-Bots from WEB The WEB Suppliers store is where you will find the latest WEB inventions, including interactive Spider-Bots much like the ones you will see in the new attraction, WEB SLINGERS: A Spider-Man Adventure. Each Spider-Bot has a remote control, and all eight articulated legs move forward and backward. Best of all, you can tap into your inner WEB inventor by customizing your Spider-Bot with tactical upgrades to harness the powers and styles of favorite Super Heroes, including Black Panther, Iron Man and Black Widow, as well as Ant-Man and The Wasp. Other must-have items at WEB Suppliers include a specially-designed backpack to carry Spider-Bots when they are not in action, Spider-Man light goggles, a take-home spider web kit and Funko Pop! vinyl figurines of Spider-Man and Iron Man. Nearby, the Campus Supply Pod is the place to power up with official Avengers Campus gear, including performance fleece hoodies and tees, headwear, drinkware and other Super Hero supplies. Enjoy tiny treats and big bites When it’s time to take a break from the heroics, three new dining spots at Avengers Campus will offer dishes that are rich in both flavor and storytelling. Pym Test Kitchen is a food innovation science lab where the food and drinks tell a story. Just as Ant-Man and The Wasp use “Pym Particles” to grow and shrink just about anything, Pym Technologies applies this innovative science to the creation of shareable bites, inventive-sized entrees and sweet treats. You will be able to taste-test such items as the Impossible plant-based large and micro meatballs with pasta, or the “Pym-ini,” a panini served by the slice or as a long, multi-portion sandwich. Adjacent to the Pym Test Kitchen, an oversized beer can overhead signals that grown-up beverage tastings are available at Pym Tasting Lab. Adults can order a craft beer, ranging from a blood orange hefeweizen to an amber lager or try one of the Pym Research Staff’s Pym Particle-infused cocktail experiments. Next, the Avengers have invited the crew of their favorite “shawarma joint” in New York, the Shawarma Palace, to open a second location at the Campus. Enjoy favorite shawarma-inspired snacks at this food cart, which is decked out with memorabilia since the Shawarma Palace owners are huge Avenger fans. Lastly, Taneleer Tivan did not limit his collection to lovable misfits; he is also curating a weird and wonderful menu of intergalactic eats at the Terran Treats food cart near Guardians of the Galaxy – Mission: BREAKOUT! Team up with the Guardians of the Galaxy Speaking of, we will continue to celebrate Guardians of the Galaxy – Mission: BREAKOUT!, the fan-favorite attraction that opened in 2017, as one of the anchor attractions of Avengers Campus. This rockin’ adventure blasts you straight into the “Guardians of the Galaxy” story, alongside characters from the blockbuster films and comics. As you help Rocket bust his pals out of the Collector’s Fortress, you will experience raucous mayhem, music inspired by the soundtracks from the movies and thrilling free-fall drop sequences! Encounter a formidable villain in a land full of heroes Last but certainly not least, throughout Avengers Campus, Super Heroes will come to life in ways that are more exciting than ever. You may have heroic encounters with Iron Man, Captain Marvel, Black Widow, Doctor Strange, the Guardians of the Galaxy, Black Panther, the Dora Milaje, Thor and even villains like Loki. We’re excited to also share that Ant-Man and The Wasp will be making their first appearances in the park, and Iron Man himself will be debuting his new armor in Avengers Campus: the Mark 80. You may even have the chance to witness Spider-Man swinging into action high above Avengers Campus with gravity-defying, acrobatic feats never seen before in a Disney theme park. At a nearby ancient sanctum, Doctor Strange will train recruits in the mystic arts by bringing this ancient sanctum to life with powerful spells. At night, the area glows even more vividly with majestic colors and lights, pulsating with mystic energy. Finally, every hero needs a formidable villain to fight… the villainous Taskmaster, who will have a role in the upcoming film “Black Widow,” will be seen for the first time at a Disney park at Avengers Campus. Taskmaster’s abilities include photographic reflexes. Taskmaster can replicate Super Hero moves, making this new villain a balanced foe for the Campus heroes. We could not be more proud to share these expanded stories, incredible characters and unique experiences in an authentic and exciting way. Stay tuned to the Disney Parks Blog for more epic updates on Avengers Campus! View the full article

  5. Earlier today, we saw Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure receive its new sign at Epcot. And even though the attraction doesn’t open until sometime this summer, we know we won’t have to wait too much longer! YeSake in Disney Springs That’s because we’ve already started to see some summertime treats make their way to Disney World, like this one we just discovered at YeSake in Disney Springs! This unassuming kiosk is known for putting out some delicious Hand Rolls and Frozen Slushies spiked with, what else — sake! And to get you ready for the bright sun and summer heat, they’ve just rolled out a new refreshing Popping Melon Cream Slushy! ©Disney Popping Melon Cream Slushy This one looks like quite the thirst quencher! Plus the boba pearls are mango-flavored which we expect will pair nicely with that fresh melony taste! And since this drink is GREEN — it’s also the perfect way to celebrate St. Paddy’s Day, or ya can just go over to Ragland Road’s Mighty St. Patrick’s Festival which will be rollicking all weekend long! Read more about Raglan Road’s Mighty St. Patrick’s Day Festival here! Let us know if you’ll be trying the new Popping Melon Cream Slushy in the comments below! 6. In true Walt spirit, Disney World just keeps moving forward! And we thought there was a lot of construction LAST month! Boy, we didn’t know what we were in for! Epcot Transformation Model With much of Future World closed and blocked off, Epcot is certainly embracing its “work-in-progress” status — and Epcot isn’t the only park either. There’s significant construction all over the parks right now. After all, Disney World has to look its best for the 50th Anniversary next year! We’re taking a look at some NEW permits Disney has been filing to clue us in on what to expect next! On our last check-in, we spotted some behind-the-scenes work on Mickey Shorts Theater and even some new inventions that might be making an appearance in Disney parks. Um… NEAT! But the files in Disney World just keep coming! So, we’re running through a few more SECRET behind-the-scenes projects in Disney World and what they might mean for the future of the park. Let’s dive in! Epcot Construction Magic Kingdom TRON Lightcycle Run As we’re sure you know, work is underway on the upcoming TRON Lightcycle Run in Magic Kingdom. This Tomorrowland coaster is HIGHLY anticipated and features both indoor and outdoor segments. Well, we dug up a permit that was filed on February 2nd that made us pretty excited about TRON progress. Sure, we see a lot of what’s going on on the outside of TRON, but what about the inside?? TRON Billboard ©Disney The permit was filed by Walt Disney Imagineering and sought approval for “Fabrication and installation” from a Creative Environments firm. These firms tend to do the theme-based sets in rides. Ooooooh! Could this mean that the actual theming is getting its first touches inside the TRON building? Maybe! After all, the coaster is expected to be completed in the Summer of 2021. Tron: Lightcycle Run construction Click here to learn more about TRON Lightcycle Run! Epcot Future World Overhaul You may have noticed, but Future World looks PRETTY different these days. Well, just before the work began we spotted TWO interesting permits that pertain to the Future World overhaul. Both permits were filed with Whiting-Turner (a MASSIVE contracting firm that seems to have a big hand in a lot of Disney projects). The first talked about an “on-site office installation” for Whiting-Turner. It sounds like they’re gonna be sticking around for a while to work the Future World overhaul! Future World Construction The second permit was for “Project G,” and specifically noted “revision to signage and underground utilities.” Now, we, of course, saw the revision to signage as signs popped up around Future World to help direct guests, but the underground work is pretty interesting. Breezeway to Future World East Most likely this includes running utilities to new buildings, attractions, and updated locations for restaurants and restrooms. Will Starbucks relocate in Epcot? What’s happening with Electric Umbrella? Maybe these underground updates hold some clues. Learn about what the current Future World looks like here! PLAY! Pavilion Next up is the MOST exciting permit we found IMO. The permit we found was coded to the Wonders of Life Pavilion. As many of you may know, that pavilion is set to receive a complete reimagining to become the mysterious PLAY! Pavilion. While we don’t know EVERYTHING about the in-progress pavilion, we do know that it will basically be heaven for kids! The PLAY! Pavilion is described as a “digital metropolis” where “games, activities, and experiences” will allow kids to connect with each other AND Disney characters! They’ll work with fashion designer Edna Mode to “rid the world of uninspired style.” And join a water-balloon fight with Huey, Dewey, Louie, and Webby! PLAY! Pavilion Concept Art ©Disney THIS permit was for the “construction and installation of set elements” by a Creative Environments firm. Could theming be underway? WE HOPE SO! After all the concept art looks SUPER cool and pretty involved. Then we found ANOTHER permit for the Pavilion on March 3rd for the installation of a “new structure.” Could this be the long-awaited VR component? Indoor buildings and cityscapes? The inside of the pavilion is set to look kind of like a giant indoor tech-city and it should open in 2021. PLAY! Pavilion Concept Art ©Disney Here’s EVERYTHING we know about the upcoming PLAY! Pavilion in Epcot! Disney World Resorts Fort Wilderness Mining Tower We even found ANOTHER interesting permit over at Fort Wilderness, and this one seems to be something that’s for the guests. This permit was for the “installation of a mining tower.” We’re thinking this probably isn’t a real mining tower considering they probably wouldn’t build that in the middle of a campground AND there isn’t exactly a lot to mine in Florida . A new decorative piece or play area, perhaps? We’ll keep an eye out! Chip and Dale’s Campfire Sing-A-Long Area As you can see there’s a LOT going on behind-the-scenes in Disney World! You can bet that we’ll be keeping an eye on all of these mysterious projects and we’ll keep digging for more of those telling Disney files. One thing is for sure, these permits sure get us excited for the future of Disney World — we just wish we didn’t have to wait! What do you think of some of these mystery projects? 7. If an effort to prevent the spread of the Coronavirus to their Cast Members and guests, Disney has been taking several precautions, including shutting down parks if need be, like with the Tokyo Disney Resort. Tokyo Disneyland While we saw the Shanghai Disneyland Resort beginning to reopen this week after its own closure, Tokyo Disneyland and Tokyo DisneySea will be extending their closure. Previously, Tokyo Disney has said they would remain closed until March 15th. Now, the Tokyo Disney Resort website has been updated to show that the parks will remain closed through early April now. ©Disney Disney has also stated that several shows and events that were scheduled to end will still do so while the park is closed, like Lilo’s Luau & Fun and the Tokyo DisneySea version of Fantasmic! They have also mentioned that the grand opening of their “new Fantasyland” area, which was scheduled to open April 15th has been postponed to mid-May or beyond. Fantasmic! at Tokyo DisneySea ©Disney You can check out the full list of closing shows and events, along with inquiries about tickets and vacation packages on the Tokyo Disney Resort website. Les Halles Boulangerie Patisserie Amidst the hustle and bustle of the Flower and Garden Festival, we stopped by this tried and true quintessential World Showcase dining location to see if there were any new updates since the last time we visited. First off, we noticed a new Brie-filled Bread Bowl! Then we panicked a bit when we noticed that our beloved FRANGIPANE no longer listed on the menu! After asking, it’s still being offered but it has changed yet again! So for starters what exactly IS frangipane? For those of you unfamiliar with this dish, frangipane is an almond flavor filling that’s full of butter, sugar, and eggs. We simply love snacking on this tasty treat (and in fact, we are used to seeing this menu item change from time to time!). You may remember the BIG Frangipane change that took place last year, now it has changed once again. Here’s a look at the previous frangipane option. New Frangipane at Les Halles And as we said earlier, while it’s not currently on the menu, it’s still available for purchase! Cue the heavy sigh of relief! While this is still labeled as a frangipane, it does look pretty different from the previous version. And while we don’t know if this is a permanent frangipane change, we will be sure to keep you posted! Frangipane at Les Halles This new version of frangipane still has that almond filling you would want and expect to taste, but they have added chocolate and hazelnut to the pastry itself. Frangipane at Les Halles With our expectations high, we weren’t as thrilled with the changes! This is a total bummer since it’s seriously one of our go-to Epcot treats. Because of the rich, velvety components that frangipane has on its own, we don’t think it needed the addition of the chocolate and hazelnut. In fact, we found that the flavors didn’t combine very well and we would rather stick with, in our opinion, wasn’t broken and didn’t need fixing! Frangipane at Les Halles Almond fans, fear not: there is still plenty of almond-flavored filling in this pastry and you should still taste that classic frangipane flavor! Just be ready for those additional flavors, and even if you’re a hazelnut fan like we are, the overall taste may be a hit or a miss! Frangipane at Les Halles While we love seeing new menu additions and changes come to Disney World, this was one that didn’t really hit the mark for us! If you would like to try the new frangipane next time you’re in World Showcase, you can pick one up at Les Halles for $4.75. What is YOUR favorite treat to grab at Les Halles? 18. We’ve been discovering so many new goodies throughout Epcot today! First, we stumbled across the new Coral Minnie Ears before making our way to France where we spotted a new sign for Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure! Les Halles Boulangerie Patisserie And after ducking into Les Halles Boulangerie Patisserie for a quick bite, we just discovered a new item on their menu — and this is where we warn you we hope you’re sitting down! If you’ve been keeping up with our eating habits over the last decade or so, you know we’ve developed quite the fondness for cheese. Throw some carbs into the mix, and consider us EVEN more obsessed! That’s why when we noticed this new Creme de Brie offering at Les Halles today, we were trying not to hyperventilate with excitement as we placed our order! Les Halles’ Menu Our French might be a little rusty, but Creme de Brie sure sounds like a tasty treat to a couple of cheeseatarians such as ourselves! And better yet, this warm, creamy cheese is served in a freshly baked bread bowl! Get ready to wrap your laughing gear around this match made in heaven! Creme de Brie If you suspect the Creme de Brie might be one of the most delicious snacks you’ve ever seen, allow us to confirm ALL your melty, cheesy dreams and wishes! The warm cheese isn’t soupy, but it’s also not as thick as straight-up melted brie. It is, however, one seriously satisfying carb fest! We want to pause for a moment of silence in recognition of this much CHEESE awesomeness! Creme de Brie Due to its size and the sheer amount of willpower you’ll have to muster to polish off the Creme de Brie by yourself, we suggest enlisting the aid of a friend! We don’t suspect you’ll have a hard time finding volunteers to help you in this cheesy endeavor, though! Creme de Brie You’ll find the Creme de Brie on the regular menu at Les Halles for $6.75, and we highly recommend you stop what you’re doing RIGHT NOW and get over there! Now if you’ll excuse us, we have to slip into something a little more cheesy from our 31 things to eat at Disney World if you’re cheese-obsessed list! Are you excited to try the new Creme de Brie at Epcot? Let us know if you’ll be checking it out in the comments below! 23. ‘Olu, the kindhearted ‘ukulele-playing turtle, strummed his was into our hearts here at Aulani, A Disney Resort & Spa not that long ago. ‘Olu, Duffy and their friends have been enjoying the surf, sand and sun of Hawai‘i. Always an imaginative group of friends, they were inspired by Hawai‘i and collaborated to come up with a new name for their turtle friend – ‘Olu Mel. As the story goes, on a bright sunny Hawai‘i day, Duffy and ShellieMay were looking for ‘Olu so the three friends could play, but he was nowhere to be found. So, they decided to check the beach. As they followed their usual path to the ocean, they began to hear melodious music. When they arrived at the shore, they found ‘Olu strumming his ‘ukulele and singing about blue and white waves playing hide-and-seek with one another. Both Duffy and ShellieMay agreed that they thought ‘Olu’s melody was truly beautiful. So beautiful, that right then and there, ShellieMay wanted to give their friend the nickname Mel, short for melody. Duffy added that he always liked the name ‘Olu too. ‘Olu thought for a second, then started strumming his ‘ukulele and singing, “Duffy and ShellieMay, you like both names, that’s swell. From now on, you can call me, ‘Olu Mel!” Duffy and ShellieMay looked at each other and exclaimed, “We love the name, ‘Olu Mel!” Seeing his dear friends so excited about his new name, the musical turtle felt happy and honored to be called ‘Olu Mel, because now, music was a part of his name. If you’d like to celebrate the excitement of ‘Olu Mel, then be on the lookout for exclusive new ‘Olu Mel merchandise coming to Aulani this summer! View the full article
  24. One of my favorite annual events is returning to Disney Springs this week—the Mighty St. Patrick’s Festival at Raglan Road Irish Pub & Restaurant! Break out your green and celebrate for five days of fun March 13-17 with non-stop Irish-infused entertainment from morning until night, a mighty selection of beers and cocktails and of course, the most authentic Irish pub grub around. The food is what always keeps me coming back to Raglan Road (I can’t get enough of that Soda Bread and Guinness Reduction Sauce!) The regular menu will be available during the event featuring your favorite go-to dishes like the Guinness-infused Bangin’ Bangers and Mighty Mash. Planning to stop by over the weekend? The Rollicking Raglan Weekend Brunch will be served March 14 and 15 from 9 a.m. to 3 pm. Guests who dine on Monday, March 16 can enjoy a new whiskey pairing dinner from 3-11 p.m. featuring a special prix fixe menu with locally sourced dishes like Whiskey Cured House Smoked Salmon and Apple Baked Dumplings paired with the finest Irish whiskey cocktails. One of the most thrilling highlights of this annual event is the amazing live entertainment hand-picked straight from Ireland. Here’s a look at this year’s line-up: Strings & Things will bring their contemporary Irish Trad/Folk/Roots crossover talent from Tipperary and Galway to the festival stage. Their unique sound and powerful stage energy promise a raucous evening of music and song. TradGad features three talented musicians from Kerry, Dublin and Galway charming guests with their vibrant performances on guitar, fiddle, mandolin, uilleann pipes, tin whistle, banjo and bouzouki. Maca an Irish sister duo dubbed “Ireland’s next big thing” will rock the Raglan Road Pub stages with their extraordinary talent. Fia Rua featuring band members from Ireland and Scotland, will blend their musical backgrounds to perform and wow guests with a unique Celtic sound. Mike Waters, from the southeast of Ireland, will perform Irish songs and ballads from traditional to contemporary with a good measure of chat and humor. Emily Furlong an extraordinary singer and entertainer from Wexford, Ireland will captivate guests with her stunning voice. No Half Measures an exciting, fresh and vibrant four-piece band from Scotland, Cork and Kilkenny will spin their youthful, contemporary sound for the Mighty Festival audience. Of course, don’t miss the popular Raglan Road Irish Dancers plucked from the cast and stages of the world’s greatest Irish dance shows! They’ll be performing intermittently during the festival and ready to teach you an Irish jig – no experience necessary! Kids will also have a blast at this family-friendly party so be sure to bring everyone dressed in their best green garb and enjoy complimentary face painting. For those planning to celebrate on St. Patrick’s Day, be sure to plan ahead for the fun! On March 17, guests will be seated on a first-come, first-serve basis with a cover charge of $10 for each guest 18 and older. Reservations can be booked online for other festival days, including brunch by calling 407-938-0300. If you’re in need of a little outfit inspiration I recommend stopping by the Shop for Ireland boutique located next to the restaurant for apparel and accessories that will help you capture the true Celtic spirit. Be sure to share your photos on social media using #DisneySprings and #MightyFestival. Happy St. Patrick’s Day! View the full article
