Catal in Downtown Disney No matter which of the three Catal options you choose, each one costs $8. Food and Wine Tapas Menu at Catal Start your feast with the Burrata tapas, made with Burrata (mozzarella and cream), Prosciutto, and Balsamic Gastrique. 8. By now you’ve gotten your tastebuds excited to try Pym Test Kitchen’s new shrunken and expanded foods, while Pym Tasting Lab’s beer cocktails and hard seltzer offerings should have you as thirstier than Thor himself! ©Disney Impossible Spoonful at Pym Test Kitchen But whether you’re new to the Marvel universe or have been anticipating the Avengers Campus grand opening for some time, we have even more info to share with you about the story behind this new land opening in Disney California Adventure of July 18th! Avengers Campus isn’t set in a mythological time and place like some of Disney’s other recent undertakings such as Onward, Frozen, or the Star Wars franchise. Instead of us going to them, the Avengers are being transported to OUR world! Anchored by Iron Man, a.k.a. Tony Stark of Stark Enterprises, the retrofitted headquarters of the Avengers Campus was once an automotive shop owned by Tony’s late father and it will feature a life-size Quinjet atop its roof! ©Disney Avengers Campus It’s here at Disney California Adventure where superheroes from “across time and space” will be able to assemble in an effort to seek out heroes among us and train us to fight by their side! And we know you’re probably asking yourself, “Didn’t Tony Stark die in The Avengers: Endgame?” Avengers Campus seems to be headlined by a Tony Stark of a different timeframe — in fact, you can even meet the lovable billionaire sporting a new Mark 80 Iron Man suit, so let’s just chalk this reasoning up to one of Marvel’s multiverse-y type situations. If we spot Doctor Strange, we might have to ask him what’s up with this. ©Disney Avengers Campus During your time at Avengers Campus, each Marvel character you encounter will offer up a lesson in their specialized area of expertise. In Web Slingers: A Spider-Man Attraction, Peter Parker (portrayed by actor Tom Holland) has invented the mechanism to give ordinary folks such as ourselves web flinging capabilities while Doctor Strange will teach us the ways of the Mystic Arts in his Sanctum during a stage show. ©Disney Doctor Strange Mystic Arts Stage Show But what really got us excited about the new Avengers Campus is how it’ll tie in with one of our favorite Disney California Adventure attractions, Guardians of the Galaxy: Mission Breakout! Mission Breakout Formerly Twilight Zone Tower of Terror, the ride received its Marvel-themed overlay in 2017. The premise of the attraction is based around The Collector, Taneleer Tivan (played by Benicio del Toro in movie). ©Disney The Collector Story Development Lead Jillian Pagan, shared with IGN today how The Collector’s presence will be felt throughout the new Avengers Campus, “You will see the disruption that Tivan’s fortress has caused to the Campus. As you go through the different addresses of the Campus, you’ll see that his fortress has kind of melted the old tunnels that you’re going through.” Avengers Campus Concept Art ©Disney Pagan went on to state, “There will be some tension of, [the Avengers are] still checking him out, they’re still taking a look at what he’s doing, but he essentially came and said, ‘Hey, you’re trying to train the next generation of heroes. What better way to prepare them for the cosmos and what’s out there than my cosmic collection?'” ©Disney Avengers Campus “Meanwhile, we know The Collector, we know his style. Is he potentially here to capture some heroes, say the Guardians of the Galaxy, say The Avengers, say potentially some of the recruits that are wandering into his fortress? Is he scamming us? That’s always been the underlying story with him, and now we can fully manifest that.” Pagan concluded. ©Disney Avengers Campus Pagan says Guardians of the Galaxy: Mission Breakout won’t be altered when Avengers Campus opens, but instead the original monologue given by The Collector in the ride’s pre-show in which he says, “I’m inviting you in today to see my most recent acquisitions, The Guardians of the Galaxy” will infer he’s just acquired the heroes from the Avengers Campus — where they’ll be roaming along with other Marvel characters. ©Disney Marvel Characters Roaming Avengers Campus We can’t wait to see how Guardians of the Galaxy’s: Mission Breakout correlates to Avengers Campus for ourselves when the new Marvel land opens this summer! 13. There is so much news breaking about Avengers Campus right now, it’s enough to make your head spin! ©Disney And while we’ve already shared with you this morning new details about Web Slingers: A Spider-Man Adventure, as well as some of the new merchandise, and new foods and drinks you’ll find throughout Avengers Campus (along with the exact opening date!), we’re back with new info about which superheroes (and supervillain!) you’ll actually get to MEET at the Marvel-themed land! While you can already meet a few of the Marvel superheroes in Disney California Adventure’s Hollywood Land (including Captain Marvel, Captain America, Spider-Man, and Black Panther) we recently found out Captain America, Spider-Man, Black Panther, and Black Widow would be appearing in the Avenger Campus’ rooftop stunt show! ©Disney But according to D23, these superheroes won’t just be duking it out atop Avengers Headquarters! They’ll also be roaming Avengers Campus along with a bunch of their buddies including Guardians of the Galaxy’s Star Lord, Gamora and Groot, Thor and Loki, Ant-Man and the Wasp, Dr. Strange and Captain Marvel! ©Disney And just released today, we finally know the name of the first supervillain the Avengers will battle in their new rooftop stunt show! He’s called Taskmaster and he’s a Skeletor-looking dude who was also big in the 80s. We’ll actually get a proper introduction to Taskmaster when the new Marvel film Black Widow debuts in theaters on April 24th! ©Marvel Taskmaster Taskmaster’s superpower is “photographic reflex” a.k.a. the ability to mimic the physical movements of his opponents. And since Disney announced Taskmaster as “one of” the nemeses to duke it out with The Avengers, we’re hoping we’ll see additional foes added at a later date! Our friend @carlyewisel also mentioned that Black Panther and Black Widow will team up to fight against him in the show! We can’t wait to see all the action. ©Disney Taskmaster Disney hasn’t announced yet which adversary we’ll be facing off against in our Quinjet during the new E-ticket attraction which will open during the second phase of Avengers Campus. But we did learn that there will be an Okoye & Dora Milaje-led training experience! We’re also hoping to see characters from forthcoming shows like WandaVision and The Falcon and the Winter Soldier make their way into Avengers Campus, but at this time Disney hasn’t released any additional information. ©Disney On top of this, don’t forget that Doctor Strange will have his very own mystic arts show, which you can read all about here! Annnnd Spider-Man and Iron Man will both be debuting BRAND NEW suits! Gosh, the list of things to be excited about keeps growing! 19. By now we know you’re already slinging webs around July 18th on your calendars in anticipation for Avengers Campus’ grand opening! ©Disney Avengers Campus And while recently we shared with you some new details regarding Web Slingers: A Spider-Man Adventure, we’re back to share even more Avengers Campus news with you! And this time we’re talking about FOOD — our FAVORITE subject! While we already told you Disney California Adventure’s new Marvel land would feature an Ant-Man and The Wasp-themed restaurant called Pym Test Kitchen that would open during phase one of Avengers Campus, we just learned SO MANY new exciting DETAILS! PYM Test Kitchen Concept Art ©Disney When we first heard red pym particles would be “shrinking” our food while blue ones would be expanding them, we knew this would open the door to some VERY playful plating! And today, according to the Los Angeles Times, the Pym Test Kitchen will emphasize humor and adventurous food presentations! Pym Test Kitchen Inside Pym Test Kitchen, you’ll see a giant beer can while pretzels will roll by on a conveyer belt overhead, where the salty snacks will swell in size before your EYES! ©Disney Pym Test Kitchen And according to Eater, Disney is still finalizing their menus, so keep in mind some of these “prototypes” might change before Avengers Campus officially opens — like this Not So Little Chicken Sandwich! We’re guessing this is one of Ant-Man’s failed experiments! It’s a LARGE chicken schnitzel with a small slider-sized potato bun, topped with Sriracha and teriyaki citrus mayo, and pickled cabbage slaw. ©Disney No So Little Chicken Sandwich Those Bavarian pretzels you saw expanding? Well, those Quantum Pretzels will be for sale and they’ll be Pym Test Kitchen’s signature item! They’ll come with a side of California IPA cheddar-mozzarella beer cheese perfect for dunking! There will also be smaller-sized soft pretzels done Buffalo-style (topped with chicken, blue cheese, ranch dressing, and pickled vegetables) or dressed up like Elote (with sweet corn sauce, chile-lime mayo, and cotija cheese). ©Disney Bavarian Pretzel Vegans can enjoy the hearty and whimsical Impossible Spoonful, a massive meatless meatball served in an over-sized ladle for a bowl, topped with a teeny weeny fork sticking out of it! It comes with a rigatoni and ditalini pasta mix, tossed in tomato sauce! ©Disney Impossible Spoonful And how about this delicious-looking PYM-ini Sandwich?! Made with focaccia bread, the sandwich is served BY THE TRAY, or the slice like a pizza! It’s filled with two types of salami, provolone cheese, and Fra’Mani ham, along with rice vinegar-based slaw, grain mustard, and a mayo-based giardiniera spread. It’s served with a side of marinara sauce and a fresh arugula salad with pepperoncini dressing! Pym-ini For the kiddos, there’s a Teeny PYM-ini (smaller version of the sandwich shown above) along with a deconstructed DIY sandwich called the PB&J Flavor Lab. It’s served on an adorable cafeteria tray with “Pym particle” bread, decorated with colorful swirls, and a peel-top container of jelly and peanut butter. Shrunken kid-sized portions of many of the adult options at the restaurant will also be available, like a kid-sized chicken sandwich, mini Impossible meatballs, and pasta. Good Morning America has reported a kid-friendly petri dish of yogurt will also be sold! According to Marvel, there will also be a PB³ Superb Sandwich made with peanut butter, banana, smoked bacon and strawberry jelly served with a banana smoothie shot and vegetable dusted potato bites! PB³ Superb Sandwich Save about “a foot” of room for dessert! Pym Test Kitchen will have foot-long candy bars grown in Ant-Man’s Quantum Tunnel! They’ll taste similar to a classic Snickers bar, (chocolate, peanuts, caramel, etc.) and will feature a brownie base. Avengers Campus Construction Pym Tasting Lab We also have some exciting info to share with you about Pym Tasting Lab, the new outdoor adjacent bar! Pym Tasting Lab with have 20 seats but will also share the same seating area with the Pym Test Kitchen. They’ll be serving beer-based cocktails and hard seltzers which, according to Syfy, you can get upgraded with Glowing Pym Particle Capsules or Pym Particle Discs! Pint-sized Pint beer flights will be poured in mini-beakers and served on trays that resemble pieces of overgrown rulers. Thanks to a reverse draft system, beer will be poured a la Dr. Strange-style from the bottom up (like he did with Thor’s mug in the movie!). Several specialty drinks will also be served — all creatively displayed in themed glassware! Pym Tasting Kitchen’s Coca-Cola Freestyle machines will also be dispensing the neon green Pingo Doce soda from 2008’s The Incredible Hulk while the non-alcoholic Proton PB&J Punch will feature strawberry and peanut butter lemonade topped with peanut butter-infused whipped cream and peanut butter-covered pretzel bites! ©Disney Proton PB&J Punch and Pingo Doce You’ll be able to enjoy the new Molecular Meltdown, a marshmallow milk stout with vanilla ice cream and mini marshmallows, and the Regulator, a Golden Road Mango Cart Wheat Ale with Patron Silver, lime juice, and habanero-mango syrup. According to The OCR, additional Marvel offerings will include Honey Buzz, an Elysian Space Dust IPA, Plymouth gin, lemon juice and honey syrup with an edible straw, X-Periment, Patron Silver tequila, lime juice, habanero and mango syrup garnished with mango-flavored popping pearls, and Particle Fizz — Endless Summer hard seltzer with cherry-flavored pearls. Snack Molecules, a mix of caramel popcorn, mini-pretzels, peanuts, and Sriracha or strawberry cheesecake-flavored popped sorghum which you’ll be able to get next door will make a perfect munchy to accompany your bevy! ©Disney Pym Tasting Lab New Food Carts The Shawarma Palace We also learned Avengers Campus would be getting two new food carts, and while several homages to the Marvel movies will be featured throughout the new land, we can confirm one of these food kiosks will be called The Shawarma Palace — fans might recognize this reference to a much-loved “Avengers” post-credits scene! ©Disney At this new Avengers Campus spot, you’ll find a warm chicken wrap with garlic sauce, and a vegetarian Impossible Victory Falafel with hummus and crusted cauliflower. Dip any of their offerings in their signature creamy lemon tahini sauce (don’t mind if we DO!). Terran Treats The other food cart is called Terran Treats, where you’ll be able to satisfy your love of Marvel and sweet tooth at the same time! Offerings will include these technicolor churros called Sweet Spiral Rations! But just to warn you — don’t expect the flavors to match the bright hues! ©Disney spiral ration churros At Terran Treats (which will be over by Guardians of the Galaxy Mission Breakout!) you’ll also be able to snag a Cosmic Cream Orb! These sweet treats will be similar to a raspberry cheesecake pate a choux, and they look AH-MAZING! ©Disney Cosmic Cream Orb But WAIT! We have a couple additional BITS of new info to share with you! Remember that action-packed Marvel stunt show we told you about a while back? You’ll be about to see the rooftop stage from Pym Test Kitchen! We also know both Pym Test Kitchen and Pym Tasting Lab will utilize Mobile Order, so you can get your superfood super FAST! Magic Kingdom Entrance Tokyo Disney Resort has already extended the dates that their parks will be closed, but now we’re seeing more changes happening in the U.S. parks! Hand-washing stations have been set up in both Adventureland and Fantasyland in Magic Kingdom for guests to easily sanitize their hands. Sign upon entering Adventureland Keep your eyes peeled for these blue tower stations on your adventures in the parks if you need to wash your hands. We spotted the Adventureland hand-washing station is located just inside the entrance to Adventureland. Adventureland hand-washing station All you have to do to start the water flowing is press down on the pump underneath the station with your foot. Pump on hand-washing station You’ll find the Fantasyland hand-washing station right across from the Under the Sea: Journey of the Little Mermaid attraction. Avengers Campus Concept Art ©Disney But that’s not all the MARVEL-ous news we have to share with you this morning about the Avengers Campus! We just learned even more details about one of the land’s new E-ticket attractions! Web Slingers: A Spider-Man Adventure The new state-of-the-art Spiderman attraction has an official name! It’s being referred to now as Web Slingers: A Spider-Man Adventure! You’ll enter the new ride through the Worldwide Engineering Brigade, or WEB for short. You’ll get to see Peter Parker (portrayed by Tom Holland) working on his inventions to let regular, ordinary people such as yourselves experience what it’s like to have superhuman powers! But suddenly one of his other innovations, the “Spider-Bots”, will start to run amuck, and you’ll be enlisted by Spider-Man to help wrangle them up! ©Disney You’ll board a web-slinger ride vehicle wearing 3D glasses and use hand gestures to fire and retract virtual webs! This should look and feel real! We’re thinking of this interactive attraction more like being inside one giant video game! Think of it as a souped-up superhero-y version of Toy Story Midway Mania! According to Disney, “This family-friendly attraction blends physical sets and virtual environments, leveraging specially designed, innovative technology that detects body movements and gestures.” ©Disney Disney also shared with us much like Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railway, Web Slingers: A Spider-Man Adventure will have no height requirement and will feature TONS of hidden Easter eggs and surprises! And thanks to our friend @carlyewisel, while Disney officials have yet to confirm if the new attraction will launch with FastPass, the attraction is enabled for it. She also shared that the queue area will mostly outdoors, but covered! ©Disney WEB Suppliers Web Slingers: A Spider-Man Adventure is slated to open for phase one of the Avengers Campus! 24. Super Hero fans and their pals will soon discover what it’s like to sling a web and have super powers when Avengers Campus opens on July 18, 2020 inside Disney California Adventure park at the Disneyland Resort. WEB SLINGERS: A Spider-Man Adventure is a new, action-packed adventure that invites you to put your web-slinging skills to the test! At the Worldwide Engineering Brigade – also known as WEB – Tony Stark has assembled bright innovators like Peter Parker to invent new technologies and equip everyday people to become Super Heroes. WEB will house the new WEB SLINGERS: A Spider-Man Adventure, the first Disney ride-through attraction to feature this iconic Super Hero. The mission: team up with Spidey and help capture the out-of-control Spider-Bots before they wreak havoc on the Campus. During an open house at WEB, you will be asked to wear 3D glasses and test drive their latest invention, the WEB Slinger vehicle, which allows you to sling webs like Spider-Man.
