We’ve seen a bunch of lovely new France-inspired merchandise debut at EPCOT recently. France We’re talking everything from coffee mugs shaped like the Eiffel Tower to crossbody bags resembling a love letter to France. But it wasn’t until today that we finally timed our visit to the France pavilion in EPCOT just right! As luck would have it, we spotted a pair of these adorable new France Minnie ears! Ooh la LA!!! France Minnie Ears A Cast Member told us these Parisian cuties have been selling like crazy and we can definitely see why! If you’re a fan of the U.K. Minnie ears or Norway’s Viking ears, you’ll probably want to add these new France Minnie ears to your World Showcase ear collection as well! France Minnie Ears They cost $29.99 and we love how the new Minnie ears are completely encrusted with various shades of dazzling blue sequins! Plus they’re topped with a bow that’s printed in pink on the front and blue on the back. The France Minnie ears are finished off with a silver Eiffel tower embellishment at the center of the bow. France Minnie Ears We spotted the new France Minnie Ears at Souvenirs de France (the little shop that’s tucked away in the back of the pavilion next to Les Halles Boulangerie-Patisserie!). Earlier this year, the Star Wars Rival Run Weekend, which would have taken place April 16th through 19th, was cancelled. runDisney Kids Races Medals The 2021 Star Wars Rival Run Weekend, however, is still scheduled to take place April 15th through April 18th at Walt Disney World. There is also a Star Wars Virtual Half Marathon that is set to take place between January 1st and March 31st of 2021. Spots for runDisney races usually fill up fast, but right now Annual Passholders and Disney Vacation Club Members have early access to register for these Star Wars races! The Star Wars Rival Run Weekend will feature a 5k, 10k, and Half Marathon, as well as Kids Dashes and a Kids One Mile Run. Those who are especially strong with the Force can also participate in the Rival Run Challenge or the Kessel Run Challenge! ©runDisney While general registration for the Rival Weekend and Virtual Half Marathon opens August 11th, both Annual Passholders and Disney Vacation Club Members have early registration access as of today, August 6th. ©runDisney For Annual Passholders, this early registration will close at 8:00 PM (ET) on August 10 or until capacity limits are reached. We’re back at Downtown Disney! Downtown Disney The last time we were here, we spotted a bunch of new character and attraction face masks, water bottles, and Disneyland 65th anniversary stuff! Now we’re scouring Downtown Disney for more updates! Downtown Disney Construction Update Inside Disneyland Park, work continues around The Emporium on Main Street, U.S.A. which is barely visible from outside the park gates! Disneyland Construction The scaffolding appears to surround most of the building and since there are no guests present, the work is not being hidden beneath a decorative scrim. We’re not totally sure what they’re doing to The Emporium, but we’ll continue to scope out the scene and report back to you with our findings! Some travelers may be able to visit Disney World a little easier now. Florida Sunset Florida has been under a state of emergency since March 9th due to the global health crisis. On March 24th, Governor Ron DeSantis signed an Executive Order mandating that all travelers from the New York Ti-State Area to Florida would be required to undergo a mandatory quarantine. On July 7th, the travel restriction was extended along with the state of emergency. Now, though, Governor DeSantis has signed a new Executive Order that rescinds the mandatory quarantine for tri-state travelers. In a new Executive Order, DeSantis rescinded Section 3 of the Executive Order containing the Safe. Smart. Step-by-Step. Plan for Florida’s Recovery. The rescinded section contained the extension of Tri-State travel restrictions. Now, travelers from the New York Tri-State area are NOT mandated to quarantine upon arrival. Orlando Sign As a note, the Tri-State area still mandates quarantine for those traveling from Florida, so there is still a barrier for those looking to visit the Sunshine State. These executive orders are subject to change, reinstation, and extension, so keep a close eye on the news in your state and Florida if you are hoping to travel to Disney World. We can’t be in a Disney park all the time, so we love to use Disney mugs at home to remind us of some of our favorite “magical” locales! Our family has been at home together since March, and life can get repetitive at times. So, to pass away the hours and give ourselves something to do as a family, we decided to create a five-part video series about design at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Theme Park. In our family of four we have multiple writers, a director and cameraman, a producer…and a talking head (me). Plus a house full of (as the saying goes, ‘one man’s junk is another man’s treasure!’) that we’ve dragged back from all over the world during the last 40 years. The challenge is to work with what we have, therefore limited only to the photographs and video clips that I have on my own laptop and snapshots that I found in a box in my studio, plus settings we’ve improvised in our house and yard. Droid Depot Now that Disney’s Hollywood Studios has reopened, not much has changed in regards to Droid Depot’s process! You still need to make a reservation in order to build your own BB-Series droid (like BB-8) or R-Series droid (like R2D2), but we did spot a new discount on parts for your new pal! In the shop next to the build area, we discovered Droid Depot was having a sale on their R-Series droid panels! Droid Panel Discount Sign What exactly is a droid panel? They’re THESE things! They come in all different colors and allow you to further customize your R-Series droids with some spanky new colors! We have exciting news about the 2020 Disney Dreamers Academy! The immersive, transformational program for 100 high school students will take place virtually this fall and, for the first time in its history, offer career shadow externships for all 100 members of the class. Like past Disney Dreamers Academy events, the virtual experience will deliver life lessons and tools such as effective communication techniques, leadership skills and networking strategies. This version of the program will do so with self-paced workshops, interactive video-conferencing sessions, networking opportunities and more, led by top speakers and industry professionals. Following the virtual experience, all 100 students will experience career shadowing externships based on their dream professions, getting personal insights and advice from mentors. Disney Signature Experiences vice president and Disney Dreamers Academy executive champion Tracey D. Powell announced the news Aug. 5, 2020, at the virtual National Association of Black Journalists/National Association of Hispanic Journalists convention. The original, in-person 2020 Disney Dreamers Academy program was canceled when Walt Disney World Resort temporarily closed during the pandemic. Powell said, “We were disappointed to have to cut this year’s event short dueto the pandemic, and we knew we had to create something extra special for this outstanding group of high school students. We expect this experience will deliver an impactful and inspirational experience just as the traditional program has done for more than a decade.” Disney Dreamers Academy is a four-day, transformational mentoring program that brings teens from across the United States to Walt Disney World Resort for an immersive education and mentoring experience. Since the program debuted in 2008. Each class of 100 teens is selected from among thousands of applicants. The free program encourages participants to“Be100” – to be positive and “all in,” and to pursue their dreams and make a difference in the lives of others.
