  1. Disney World’s Yacht Club Resort is officially open! Yacht Club Resort Lobby Slowly but surely, the Disney World resorts have continued reopening since the closure a few months back and the latest resort is now open to guests. Disney’s Yacht Club Resort officially opened today along with Stormalong Bay pool, resort dining options, and (to our surprise) In-Room Dining! We checked in with a Cast Member today who confirmed for us that YES, In-Room Dining is available at Disney’s Yacht Club Resort! This is the first reopened resort that is offering room service. Since the hotels began reopening, Disney World has has room service on hold. Cast Member Chat As a note, the Yacht Club page on the Disney World website does not reflect this very new information. Similar to other dining offerings, the room-service menu has seen some changes and is currently limited. Disney’s Yacht Club Resort We’ll be looking into the return of in-room dining at other Disney World resorts so stay tuned for the latest updates. And we will do some research to see if and how the process has changed. And, if you’re staying at the Yacht Club, get ready to order room service if you’re feeling it! 11. Disneyland Resort, which has been closed since March 14th, has yet to announce an official re-opening date after its initial plans were delayed indefinitely by the state. Disneyland Gate After several weeks of being on a state-wide monitoring list, Orange County is getting the green light from the state to once again begin re-opening indoor operations in certain industries. The state’s pandemic tracking website has reported that Orange County, where Disneyland resides, is no longer on California’s monitoring list as of August 23rd. This means that certain industries can reopen their indoor operations, including gyms, salons, offices, and shopping malls. Halloween at Disneyland’s World of Disney What does that mean for Disneyland, exactly? Chances are we will not see any major changes right away in Downtown Disney, nor do we expect any major news regarding a reopening date for Disneyland’s two theme parks as a direct result of Orange County moving off the monitoring list. Outdoor seating at Ralph Brennan’s Jazz Kitchen A state-wide mandate is still in effect which requires all restaurants to only offer outdoor dining, which applies to all counties regardless of their reopening status. In addition, the state has yet to release its reopening guidelines for theme parks. Disneyland originally announced a reopening date of July 17th, ahead of the state releasing any industry guidelines for theme parks. Disney California Adventure Park As of this writing, Disneyland is cancelling hotel reservations with arrival dates through September 12th. Disneyland Resort Regardless, this is a major step forward for Orange County businesses, and a necessary benchmark in Disneyland’s reopening timeline. 15. Anybody else already missing Disney Springs this weekend? Disney Springs Although there’s been a whole lotta news happening around Disney Springs with the arrival of the Baby Yoda Loungefly Backpack, the grand opening of lululemon, and the cancellation of one of our favorite restaurant events, we’re back with a look at another sweet deal happening in the district! Uniqlo pretty much lives up to its name since it has a bunch of unique Disney merchandise for fans of all ages. Although we’ve seen fashioned tees inspired by Monsters, Inc., Toy Story, and Frozen 2, we were ALL over the Furry Friends collection recently with Lady and the Tramp, Aristocats, and other animal-inspired outfits. Furry Friends Sweatshirts But, while we were there, we hit the JACKPOT during our visit to Disney Springs. Since Disney has already been rolling out some huge sales around the parks (including lots of Halloween goodies), it hasn’t been too much of a surprise to find some great deals around Disney World. Although Uniqlo usually has awesome prices in the store, we found tees for only $6 this time around…so it’s practically the biggest steal we’ve seen so far in the parks! $6 Tees The Disney Stories collection has been rockin’ over at Uniqlo since the beginning of the year. The shirts take people on their own mini Disney journey with a snippet of text from a storybook… $6 Tees …along with old-fashioned artwork of characters like Mickey and Minnie. Okay, but, let’s get real — you get cute Disney merchandise, a cozy tee, AND a trip to Disney Springs all for $6?? Y’all. Uniqlo might be winning the Disney deal game right now in the parks (and we’re so here for it)! $6 Tees While we’ve been going around Disney World, we’ll still keep an eye out for even more discounts and deals around the parks! And, if you have any questions about your trip to Disney, we’re here to answer all the questions you may have. So, just give us a holler in the comments below! 16. Although we can’t pass up a good sit-down meal in Disney World, a quick snack in the morning has been the way to go in the parks (especially with Mobile Order becoming the prime ordering option right now). Cosmic Ray’s Although we’ve seen plenty of Dole Whips make their return to the parks, like the I Lava You Float and Kakamora Float, Disney has brought back yet another fan-favorite snack to Magic Kingdom. While Cosmic Ray’s Starlight Cafe has been open for guests to enjoy a quick-service meal and say hello to Sonny Eclipse, it’s also been a hot spot for snacks and Disney’s famous chicken nuggets. But, we were surprised to see a sweet treat from a different dining spot make its way onto the Mobile Order menu… Cosmic Ray’s Mobile Order Although the Cheshire Cat Tail is usually over at the Cheshire Cafe, we are just a little excited that Cosmic Ray’s is twisting up the cat tail with all that flakey and chocolatey goodness! Cheshire Cat Tail If you’ve never had a Cheshire Cat Tail (which we think you need to fix as SOON as you’re back in Magic Kingdom), the flakey pastry is filled with chocolate and drizzled with lots of icing on top. Although it’s big enough to share with a friend or family member, we’re pretty sure you’re going to want the whole thing to yourself once you pick one up from Cosmic Ray’s! Cheshire Cat Tail We’re thrilled to welcome back one of our favorite treats in Disney World for $5.49, along with all the other snacks that have been popping up in the parks! While we keep an eye on what other treats make their debut back in the parks, we’re also here to answer all your dining and park questions that you need to know! 19. Traveling to Disney World is VERY different now — and we want you to be prepared. Magic Kingdom We’re constantly on the lookout for new tips to bring you, especially when it comes to contending with all the changes in a reopened Disney World. It really is a whole new world in and around the parks, so we’re bringing you EVERYTHING you need to know to be an expert on your trip. Here are 5 brand-NEW tips for traveling to Disney World in the age of this “new normal!” 1. Know the government restrictions both inside and outside of Florida. First off, you need to be aware of government restrictions in and out of Florida. There’s a lot that’s different concerning how travel works right now, and that can cause some hangups along the road. For one, if you opt not to fly, you might find yourself with a lengthy drive ahead of you (a 16 hour drive each way is NOT fun when you’re used to a three-hour flight — we know from experience!). Walt Disney World Resort entrance But the drive itself isn’t the only thing you have to worry about, you also need to be aware of the travel restrictions in different states. Headed into Florida, folks from the New York Tri-State Area were recently subject to a mandatory 14-day quarantine. This mandate has since been lifted, but several states do have mandates still in place requiring quarantine following a visit to Florida; so be sure to do your research before you head out. Prior to travel, research the government restrictions through the State Health Departments in every state along your route, especially if you intend to stop. That way you’ll know how feasible travel is and how to be prepared. Orlando Sign Beyond that, you need to be aware of ordinances and health mandates in any location that you intend to stop. For instance, Orange County, Florida (where Disney World is located) currently has a face mask mandate. Make sure you’re following local instruction EVERYWHERE on your route. Click here to learn more about Orange County’s mask mandate. 2. Disinfect your hotel room. According to Business Insider, hotels present a particular risk during the global health crisis due to the fact that they are a place where many people from different locations gather. Of course, they probably won’t be gathering in YOUR room (we hope — that’d be weird), but a hotel room is entered by housekeeping and other guests before you. In short — it’s a good idea to disinfect. Bay Lake Tower This starts at home. Make sure you pack the supplies you need to wipe everything down when you arrive. Bring along some disinfecting wipes, and baggies for things you don’t want to touch (like remotes or phones!). Having your own stash of portable cleaning supplies will make it a whole lot easier to feel comfortable in your room. BoardWalk Inn We recommend disinfecting upon arrival. You can forgo Mousekeeping if you feel more comfortable limiting others’ access to your room and if you don’t, you might want to disinfect each evening upon returning. We also recommend isolating any clothing, shoes, and gear you had with you during the day once you enter your room to limit possible contamination. Is everything probably fine? Likely. Will it give you peace of mind to re-clean? Likely. Want to know how to disinfect your hotel room? Click here. 3. Wear a mask that’s comfortable for YOU (and your kid)! We’ve talked a lot about what the BEST masks to wear in Walt Disney World are but this advice is SUPER important: wear something COMFORTABLE, both you AND your kids! There is nothing worse than getting halfway through your Disney day to find that the elastic straps are causing sore spots on the back of your ears, or your mask has a weird smell or feel when it’s in the heat for a while. Together Again Face Mask Have no fear, though! We’ve got some ways to avoid such issues. For one, we’re pretty much EXPERTS by now concerning which masks are the best of the best to wear in Walt Disney World. We’ve even got a list of top picks specifically for kiddos! So, check out our lists and decide what works for you and your face mask needs. Are you looking for a tie-around-back mask? A fun pattern? The disposable kind? These are the decisions you’ve gotta make before you arrive! Cast Member Once you’ve got your masks picked out, it’s a matter of STAYING comfortable once you’re in the parks. Make sure you bring extras (in different styles!) to swap out as you need and know where those Relaxation Stations are! A break can do wonders — especially when it comes to keeping little ones masked up. Click here for our FULL LIST of the best-of-the-best masks to wear in Disney World. 4. Know all of the best outdoor dining options! This one’s a new tip we want you to know! When you’re in the parks, make sure you know all of the best outdoor dining spots. According to the CDC, it’s considered safer to dine outside than it is to dine in an enclosed space so if you’re looking to keep risk levels as low as possible, it’s time to grab a meal out on a patio. Of course, most quick-service locations offer outdoor seating and, for the Taste of EPCOT International Food & Wine Festival, you can find tables near all of the kiosks. Things get tricky if you want to sit outside at a table-service spot though — especially since a number of restaurants in the parks remain closed. If you’re not comfortable dining inside, a lot of table service spots won’t be an option at this time. Spice Road Table Terrace Seating In Magic Kingdom, the only table service restaurant with outdoor dining is Tony’s Town Square Restaurant. In Animal Kingdom, you’ll need to swing over to the Tiffins/Nomad Lounge space. In Hollywood Studios, you can head to BaseLine Tap House. And in EPCOT, you can choose between Rose & Crown and Spice Road Table. Disney Springs also offers a number of table service locations with ample outdoor seating areas. Keep in mind at most of these locations, outdoor seating is limited, so you might have to wait for a table to open up. To learn more about the Taste of EPCOT International Food & Wine Festival, click here! 5. Get familiar with Mobile Order. Finally, we recommend you DEFINITELY, definitely, definitely get familiar with Mobile Order. The service is HEAVILY encouraged in the reopened parks and resorts to help keep guests and Cast Members safe by limiting contact as much as possible. In many cases, unless you have an allergy or want to pay cash, you will be encouraged NOT to order at the registers of fast food locations. Instead, Cast Members will direct you to place your food orders via Mobile Order. If you ARE looking to order in-person, let the Cast Member at the entrance know and they’ll help accommodate you. Pinocchio Village House Mobile Order Signs The Mobile Order system is a part of the My Disney Experience app and it is super easy to use. You can follow our full guide right here! If you have any trouble, find a nearby Cast Member and they will be happy to help you through it. Just make sure you’ve got the app downloaded and your phone charged before you head into the parks! It’s more important than ever now! Want to know more about dining in a reopened Disney World? Click here! Hollywood Studios And, we’ve got plenty of merchandise, food, entertainment, and construction to share with you, so let’s dive right on in! EPCOT Merchandise Update Mouse Gear Although Disney World shakes things up with newer color trends and a whole batch of Halloween ears, we LOVE when Disney redesigns a few classics in the parks. Minnie Ears! The Classic Red and Black Minnie Ears have received a bit of a makeover and now have a more matte sparkly finish than it’s predecessor. See just how SUBTLE this change is here! World Showcase Giftshops We’ve been loving all the great food at the Taste of EPCOT International Food and Wine Festival since the parks have been opened again. Since the festival combines Food and Wine and the Flower and Garden Festival together, the prizes for Remy’s Hide and Squeak scavenger hunt was previously the Flower and Garden’s Spike the Bee Pollen Nation Exploration’s prize! But, the official prizes have been switched to ADORABLE water bottles! Water Bottles Guests aren’t able to purchase these water bottles on their own. But, instead, they can pick up the Mickey and Remy Bottles after they finish the scavenger hunt to help Remy find his secret ingredients throughout the World Showcase. World Traveler Gift Shop While we were bopping around EPCOT, we spotted the sweet Disney Skyliner Dooney and Bourke bag! We unexpectedly spotted the Pumpkin Cream Cold Brew at Starbucks…and, you can imagine our excitement! Pumpkin Cream Cold Brew We’re welcoming fall flavors with open arms! Read our review of the return of the Pumpkin Cream Cold Brew at Starbucks! Tangierine Cafe As restaurants start to reopen around the parks, there have been a few unexpected closures from time to time of different dining locations. While Tangierine Cafe recently closed for a bit of time, it looks like the restaurant has now closed once again in EPCOT. The menu sign has been removed from the front of the area… Tangierine Cafe …and a closure sign has been put over the closed door to the entrance. Although Tangierine Cafe hasn’t stated when they’ll be reopening, we will have to keep checking back on the restaurant! Tangierine Cafe EPCOT Construction Update Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure As France continues its construction in EPCOT, we’ve been patiently (kind of) waiting for Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure to open. Although the ride previously was supposed to open this summer, the closures have bumped many attractions’ schedules back as they continue making progress. There’s currently no information when Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure will be opening, but we can say that it’s going to be a blast! Recent updates have been made on the Ratatouille sign. A bit of shading has been removed from the sign’s exterior. Here’s a before pic. Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure Sign And here’s what it looks like now! Super subtle…we know!! Ratatouille Sign EPCOT Entertainment Update Butterfly Garden Although the Butterfly Garden is usually out and about for the Flower and Garden Festival, the attraction has disappeared from the area by the Land. We’ll miss you, sweet friends!! Butterfly Garden Disney’s Hollywood Merchandise Update Toy Story Mania Store The Alien Remix Collection has been a hoot and a holler since it debuted! While we’ve been finding character mix-ups popping up all around the parks, the new-to-us Woody Alien Remix Toy has now made a rootin’ tootin’ appearance at the Toy Story Mania store! Just LOOK at how sweet he is, waving to everyone passing by! Woody Alien Remix Tatooine Traders Baby Yoda has taken over the world by storm! And, Disney has been bringing so much Star Wars merchandise to the parks. Although we spotted the Baby Yoda Loungefly Backpack in Disney Springs, it also flew on over to Tatooine Traders for guests to grab. Baby Yoda Loungefly Mini Backpacks Rock Around the Shop Rock ‘N’ Roller Coaster is one of our favorite rides in Disney World (who wouldn’t want to blast Aerosmith during a ride?!). And, you can enjoy all sorts of new goodies at the attraction’s gift shop! During the fall weather, you can snuggle up in the Rock ‘N’ Roller Coaster Hoodie… Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Sweatshirt …and Rock ‘N’ Roller Coaster Pants that even Steven Tyler would want to wear! Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Pants Okay, but how FLY would these look in your next PhotoPass photo in the parks?? Here’s the Design on the Hip of the Pants! Since you’re blasting off from 0 to 60 miles per hour in 3.5 seconds, you are definitely riding in “1 QK Limo” aboard Rock ‘N’ Roller Coaster! Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster T-Shirt If you’re looking for a souvenir to pick up in the parks to take back home with you, we think that the Rock ‘N’ Roller Coaster Tee is a great choice (especially since Mickey is going AT IT on that guitar solo)! Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster T-Shirt Since you’re going to need to stay hydrated when you’re in Disney World, sipping on water out of the Rock ‘N’ Roller Coaster Water Bottle is a chill way to cool off in Hollywood Studios. Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Water Bottle The water bottle is covered with plenty of rockin’ stickers, so you can be reminded of Aerosmith’s killer tunes and Disney’s fantastic rides. Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Water Bottle Now, we’re really ready to rock ‘n’ roll!! Rock ‘n’ Roll over to Hollywood Studios for this AWESOME merchandise! Tower Hotel Gifts The Tower of Terror Dress just keeps dropping into all sorts of stores across Disney World! While we first saw the outfit on shopDisney and then Disney Springs, the Tower of Terror Dress has (finally) made its way to the Tower Hotel Gifts located after the spooky attraction. Tower of Terror Merchandise And, let us tell you that the detail on this bellhop themed dress is GORGEOUS with the Hollywood Tower Hotel’s logo, color scheme, and even an elevator sign. Tower of Terror Dress Disney merchandise has sales popping up all over the parks to welcome guests back. But, we were MEGA excited to see that the Oogie Boogie Light-Up Ears on sale for only $10. 23. Our Disney World diet has consisted of Dole Whips, Dole Whips, and more Dole Whips ever since the parks reopened. Raspberry Dole Whip Although we’ve been rotating the Raspberry Dole Whip, Peter Pan Float, and Kakamora Float with our other Dole Whip picks, Magic Kingdom has brought back yet another float that you’re going to want to try ASAP! During a day of riding attractions and waving to characters, our DFB reader @miss_mizzy_93 took the time to show us that the “I Lava You” Float is back again at the Sunshine Tree Terrace! Photo Courtesy of: @miss_mizzy_93 The sweet orange Dole Whip is mixed up with strawberry Fanta, strawberry and red passion fruit syrup, and strawberry popping candy on top. And, the best part is that you can get all those flavors in the I Lava You Float for $6.99! Photo Courtesy of: @miss_mizzy_93 Hopefully, this is just the start in terms of treats returning to the parks. There’s still quite a few we’re anxiously waiting for (cough cough Casey’s Corn Dog Nuggies). We will keep you posted as more treats start to make their way home, stay tuned. 24. According to an earnings call, Disney World’s attendance has been lower than expected. With that being said, the parks will be shortening their park hours from September to November. Spaceship Earth But, Disney World isn’t the only theme park that reopened in Orlando recently, Universal Orlando has reopened as well. And they have also been operating with similar safety measures to keep guests and Cast Members safe. However, since the Universal parks reopened in June, they’ve seen some differences in their attendance growth compared to Disney World. The Orlando Sentinel has reported that Universal Orlando has started to see an “uplift in admission,” while Disney World’s attendance remains lower than previously expected. Currently Universal is operating with crowds that are 64% less than 2019’s reports, while Disney is down 80% from last year according to an analyst note from Deutsche Bank. Hollywood Rip Ride Rockit Currently, EPCOT and Animal Kingdom are outperforming Magic Kingdom and Hollywood Studios. This is very interesting since Hollywood Studios is typically the park with the fewest available park reservations (especially for APs). Since cases were higher when Disney originally opened, many guests started canceling their reservations. The Walt Disney Company CEO Bob Chapek even recognized this as Disney announced that it had taken a $2 billion loss during the closures. Hollywood Studios However, as Universal’s attendance continues to make leaps and strides during its reopening procedures, Disney might see an increase in demand when it comes to park visitation, especially since Florida has started to see a decrease in its cases. The Deutsche note stated that “Given this ongoing improvement in Universal’s attendance and declining new daily COVID cases in Florida, we believe that Disney World will also soon see some benefit.” Homer Simpson As Disney continues to make changes in the parks, including its attendance, we’ll keep checking back, so we can give you all the information you need to know. And, as always, we’ll continue to update you on everything you need to know about going back to Disney World! Read about the additional Disney Park Pass availability next week in the parks here! 25. Disney World’s BoardWalk is a dining, shopping, nightlife, and resort area located near EPCOT in Walt Disney World. The area is inspired by turn-of-the-century boardwalks located on coastal cities like Coney Island and Atlantic City. The BoardWalk Bakery And located along the BoardWalk is a small and unassuming bakery that’s always been…you know…fine. It had the odd winner of a cupcake, and one time it had a sandwich called the Butter Butter, which is extra in the best way possible. But overall, The BoardWalk Bakery has always been just fine if you were staying at the BoardWalk Inn, but nothing you really needed to travel to experience. But since the parks and resorts started to reopen, we’ve been on a mission to see what’s new and what’s missing from our favorite Disney spots. And we’ve been super impressed by what’s been pullin’ us into BoardWalk Bakery so far! CHOCOLATE Mickey Waffle Sundae Do we really need to say more? Ok, we will, but only because we love talking about Mickey waffles. The BoardWalk Bakery is NEWLY serving up to-go Mickey Waffle Sundaes. We’ve seen Mickey Waffle Sundaes at a few other locations, but this is a FIRST for the BoardWalk Bakery! And it gets even BETTER than that! The sundae comes with one CHOCOLATE and one regular Mickey waffle topped with ice cream, sprinkles, and a cherry. CHOCOLATE. MICKEY. WAFFLES! These are v. rare in Disney World. We’ve seen them a couple times here and there, but it was a huge surprise to see them pop up randomly at the BoardWalk Bakery of all places. Mickey Waffle Sundae Enjoy it on the BoardWalk (or in your car while you blast the a/c ’cause there’s not a lot of covered outdoor seating at the BoardWalk Bakery). And there’s MORE! We haven’t even gotten to the best part yet! Get this: the sundae is made with a different kind of ice cream every week. So far, we’ve seen the bakery use “munchies,” peanut butter, and cookie dough ice creams. And don’t forget — it’s a good thing the bakery is amping up their ice cream game! Ample Hills Creamery next door to the Bakery announced its closure on Disney World property recently. Ample Hills was a great standby for BoardWalk ice cream sundaes, and it seems like the BoardWalk Bakery is picking up the slack with new treats like this sundae and more! Here’s a Peek at the Mickey Waffle Sundae Ingredients! As if we needed more convincing, you have the option to order it in a Mickey Mouse souvenir bowl. The sundae with a souvenir bowl costs $15.97 and the sundae without the bowl costs $10.01. Find out more about the delish Mickey Waffle Sundae here! Do we even need to list more reasons why you should visit the bakery?? (The answer is yes because there’s a lot more good food where that came from.) Grilled Cheese with Tomato Soup Two pieces of bread and some cheese. How can that be a reason to venture out to the BoardWalk? Buckle up! Its reputation precedes it as one of the ooey-est gooey-est grilled cheese sandwiches we’ve had from Disney World. Now this one isn’t NEW since the reopening like the sundae, but with so many of our favorite counter service locations closed or offering limited menus — and since you’re already coming here for the sundae anyway — we’re excited to remind you that this must-get is still around! The bread is crispy and SO buttery delicious! You can really taste the butter come through with every bite. The sandwich is baked in a panini press to give it that extra crunchy texture and to melt the cheese all the way through. The sandwich comes with a fresh tomato soup that’s great for dunking. Overall it’s a perfect pairing of the classic grilled cheese and tomato soup but done really, really well. Boardwalk Bakery Grilled Cheese Many quick-service restaurants are temporarily unavailable at Disney World. Hot quick-service meals that are as good as this? A diamond in the rough! We would deem this dynamic duo as one of our top choices for a quick-service meal at Disney World. The amped-up classic is available during lunch and dinner and costs $9.99. Grilled Cheese and Tomato Soup Check out our full review of the Grilled Cheese and Tomato Soup here! FRESH Bakery Goods Are Still On Pointe! The menu at BoardWalk Bakery has seen a few changes since the reopening, but they really surprised us with how in-the-game they were even before Disney World’s parks reopened! Fourth of July Treats from The BoardWalk This 4th of July, they slammed out THREE holiday-themed treats. They are NOT sleepin’ on the new treats that’s for sure! The 4th of July cupcake we had last month really knocked it out of the park for us. It offered cheesecake (!!!) filling paired with a rich chocolate cake. Oh, and they even had a TINY PIE!!! We’ll be making many trips back to see if the new cupcakes and treats popping up throughout the year are as impressive! Get a closer look at the BoardWalk Bakery’s specialty cupcakes here! Bonus Reason: The BoardWalk is super peaceful right now! Due to limited capacity, Disney World crowds are lower than normal most of the time. Sadly, nightlife at the BoardWalk is pretty much non-existent — Jellyrolls Dueling Piano Bar, Atlantic Dance Hall, and the Flying Fish Cafe are temporarily closed right now — but the upshot of that is that the BoardWalk has been peacefully quiet as a result. Enjoy the view of Crescent Lake while you chow down on your Mickey Waffle Sundae blissfully alone. Heading to the BoardWalk soon? Check out our recent review of the newly reopened Beaches and Cream!
