It’s almost time to celebrate Labor Day in Disney World. Magic Kingdom While Raglan Road has canceled its Great Irish Hooley this year in Disney Springs, other restaurants in the resorts will be extending their hours for guests to dine longer throughout the weekend. As expected with a holiday weekend, Disney Park Pass reservations in Disney World have been filling up pretty quickly! Even though Annual Passholder availability has filled up for Disney’s Hollywood Studios, there are fewer spots open for regular ticket holders during Labor Day weekend now too. Disney’s Hollywood Studios and EPCOT are full on September 5th… September 5th Reservations And Disney’s Animal Kingdom has joined the other two parks as one of the places to book up on September 6th. September 6th Reservations However, only Hollywood Studios is completely full on September 7th to ticket holders. Hollywood Studios is also the only park unavailable to resort guests on September 5th through September 7th. Magic Kingdom is available to guests throughout the weekend for everyone to add a bit of Disney magic to their holiday. Although there has been a limited capacity in the parks, Magic Kingdom has seen significantly less crowds than previously expected. September 7th Reservations As park availability continues to shift during the reopening, we’ll give you a look at what Disney World looks like during its initial reopening phase! And, as always, we’re here to answer any questions you may have about your upcoming vacation! Take a look at the new food booths coming to EPCOT’s Food and Wine Festival this year! We had no idea that National Banana Pudding Month was even a thing, but we are totally on board to celebrate it! Black Tap And we’re not the only ones: Black Tap Craft Burgers & Shakes in Downtown Disney at Disneyland Resort has released a special shake in honor of one of the South’s favorite desserts. Y’all. Black Tap plans to bring its Magnolia Bakery into a new shake: the Banana Pudding Classic Shake. And, yes, it looks just as good as it sounds. Black Tap and Magnolia Bakery Banana Pudding Classic Shake ©Black Tap Craft Burgers & Shakes Look at that baby! It’s not quite as over-the-top at some of the CrazyShakes we’ve seen, but it still looks like something we might want to share with a friend. (Who are we kidding? We’ll sip up all that banana pudding yumminess on our own!) The Banana Pudding Classic Shake features Magnolia Bakery’s banana pudding, crumbled Nilla wafers, and whipped cream, all topped off with a cherry. Just keep in mind, though: this $12 shake is only available from August 28 to August 30. Disney World is back open, but all is not back to normal. Magic Kingdom When the Disney parks initially closed, we had no idea what to expect for the coming months. Now, we’re still getting out minds around just how monumental the effects of the global health crisis have been. One group who has dealt with significant upset are Disney World Cast Members — some of whom still remain furloughed. Unfortunately, those furloughs may continue even longer. According to Spectrum News, Disney has begun notifying furloughed Disney World Cast Members that the furloughs may last much longer than anticipated due to the unprecedented nature of the return to normal for the company. Main Street Cast Members Some Cast Members received emails from Disney stating “When we initially notified you of your furlough, we could not have anticipated that it could exceed six months, however, due to business circumstances that were not reasonably foreseeable at the time and given the unprecedented and ongoing nature of the pandemic and its impact on our businesses, we regret to inform you that we now reasonably expect your furlough could extend beyond six months from your initial furlough date.” Masks are required in Disney World Many of the furloughs began on April 19th, so this statement means that Disney potentially expects still-furloughed workers to remain out of work through at least October 19th. Of course, the situation is subject to change. As always, stay tuned to DFB for the latest updates. Click here to learn more about which Cast Members are still furloughed! Now that Magic Kingdom park is open again to guests, we decided to mosey on over Pecos Bill Tale Tale Inn and Cafe to see what we could rustle up! Pecos Bill Put on your cowboy boots (but, like, not really because it’s Florida and it is HOT!!) and settle in while we tell a tale of our time in the Wild West! Pecos Bill’s (as it’s more commonly known) is nestled in the heart of Frontierland and has long been a fan-favorite quick service dining location at Magic Kingdom park. After carefully selecting our lunch, we placed a mobile order and prepared to chow down some vittles… and wondered how much things have changed! Atmosphere As a result of the global health crisis, social distancing is now the name of the game ev-er-y-where in Disney World and Pecos Bill’s is no exception. Good news , thought — we recently shared that Pecos Bill debuted a new indoor waiting area for guests using Mobile Order. This way, rather than standing outside under the Florida sun, you can just step inside and stand on one of the blue dots in the sweet, sweet air conditioning. Not a bad idea! Soon after arriving on our dot to wait for our order, it was brought out to us. Pecos Bill Speaking of Mobile Order, it’s the preferred method of ordering in Disney World right now. Cast Members are stationed at entrances to quick service locations encouraging guests to place their orders on their phones via Mobile Order. This way, guests can view the menus, select and customize their meals, pay, and then have their meal prepared once they’re at the location. Guests CAN still order in person in the restaurants and can still pay with cash, but Cast Members are recommending only guests needing special assistance with their orders or paying cash order in person. Mobile Order Sign at Pecos Bill In a further attempt to encourage social distancing, guests are restricted to dining at certain tables only. Dining Area of Pecos Bill These signs have been placed on tables that should remain empty, making it super easy for guests to choose where to sit. Sign on a Table at Pecos Bill After making our way to our seats, we were STARVED! And ready to dig in! Eats Like many Disney fans, we’ve eaten at Pecos Bill’s quite a few times before, so we know what to expect. The bill of fare here is predominately Mexican cuisine with a couple burgers tossed in for good measure. ©Disney This time we ordered the Chicken Rice Bowl for $11.99. Chicken Rice Bowl This meal comes with yellow rice, seasoned chicken, and black beans. Our fav part of the dish was the fajita-style grilled chicken and veggies on top! Yum! Yellow Rice and Beans On Mobile Order we customized our meal to include lettuce and tomatoes (since their fabulous self-serve toppings bar is currently unavailable!). It’s important to note that when Pecos Bill first reopened, the tomato was sliced (like a thick slice you’d typically find on a burger), not diced. We MUCH prefer it this way!! Lettuce and Tomato We like food options like this because it’s different than a lot of standard theme park fare…but that doesn’t mean we’re skimping on the sour cream!! We added this cup of yum on Mobile Order as well. Sour Cream And what fajita bowl is complete without a side of salsa?? Salsa The food was delicious and surprisingly hearty for such an unassuming bowl. We were pleasantly full when we finished (which is not always the case with a quick service dish). Nosh or Not Why you should stop by and say “howdy”: One word: convenience! Mobile Order makes dining here a breeze! Plus, the proximity to both Adventureland and Frontierland makes this an easy spot to swing by during your day in Magic Kingdom. You want a quick meal you can get and GO! We were in and out fairly quickly (without feeling rushed). That’s super important if you have a long list of rides to get to. You’re looking for something a bit different from standard burgers and hot dogs. The food here is usually pretty tasty. We enjoyed our meal and weren’t left with any food envy. That’s #lunchgoals. Just scamper on by if: You don’t want to make the trek across the park to Frontierland. In Tomorrowland? Consider Cosmic Ray’s instead (unless you’re looking to get your daily steps in!). You’re in the mood to be waited on by a server. If you’re looking for a long, leisurely meal, try one of the many table service restaurants throughout the park. You’re not in the mood for Mexican food. Quick service options are more limited right now than they were before the closures, but you can still find chicken nuggs and other familiar kid-friendly favorites around the park. Overall On the whole, we had a great dining experience! We’re glad to see that they worked some of the initial kinks out since we visited during the first days of reopening. We got our food quickly and it was fresh and tasty (bonus points for CHOPPED tomatoes!). Mobile Order offers a fast and easy way to order and pay for our food while social distancing and we love that we can wait for our food inside now. We wouldn’t necessarily recommend traveling the length of the park if all you want is a quick bite to eat. That is, of course, unless you’ve just gotta have some nachos…in that case, you do you! Will you be rustlin’ up some grub at Pecos Bill any time soon? Hit the comment section below and tell us what you think. Coffee! That’s a word that always gets us excited, and if you haven’t noticed, we love when new flavors and blends of coffee turn up (did someone say gingerbread?). Topolino’s Terrace Servers So you can imagine how thrilled we were to discover that Joffrey’s had announced a brand new blend dedicated to Walt Disney World’s Riviera Resort. The new blend is the Riviera Resort Blend, designed especially by Joffrey’s Head Roastmaster Chris De Mezzo in collaboration with Disney Chefs. These special coffee beans come from Papua New Guinea, Costa Rica, and Kenya. This smoky and sweet taste profile will have us all imagining we’re on a beach somewhere in the French Riviera sipping on a cup of wonderful caffeinated goodness. Whether you’re looking to drink a delicious Lapu Lapu or enjoy some chicken nugget sushi (YES! This is a REAL thing!), Kona Cafe at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort has some seriously delicious options. Kids’ Sushi Well, now, you may be able to experience Kona Cafe and another Disney resort restaurant with a little less advance planning thanks to a special option on the My Disney Experience App. Not too long ago, Disney released a new feature on the My Disney Experience app where you can see what restaurants are accepting walk-ups, and you can even join a walk-up list and see how long the wait is to eat at that spot. Walk-up Waitlist Although we saw the feature disappear at one point, it’s back now and we found that two new restaurants have been added to the list: Grand Floridian Cafe at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa, and Kona Cafe at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort. Screenshot from My Disney Experience So, if you’re in the mood for some Quiche or some other delicious options from one of these spots, but you didn’t make a reservation in advance, you can now see if there’s any availability on their walk-in waitlist and check out one of these restaurants. Grand Floridian Cafe We’ll keep our eyes open for what other restaurants join the walk-up waitlist option on My Disney Experience and let you know! What strange and unusual summer it has been! Spaceship Earth First off, Disney World shut its gates mere WEEKS after the 2020 Flower and Garden Festival began, making it the shortest EPCOT festival of all time. Then when the parks reopened, EPCOT’s longest festival in history began — the 2020 Taste of EPCOT Food and Wine Festival! Despite many modifications from previous years’ Food and Wine Festivals (no Eat to the Beat concerts or special events like cooking demos or chef meet and greets) one of the strangest things has been the lack of Food and Wine merchandise! That is — until NOW! Food and Wine Merchandise Although the Taste of EPCOT Food and Wine Festival has been selling Flower and Garden’s leftover merchandise from this spring, we finally got a sneak peek at the official Food and Wine merchandise! Most of this merchandise is expected to be released in EPCOT on September 1st. Now, let’s DIG IN! For the Figment Fanatics EPCOT’s festivals are a great opportunity for Figment fans from far and wide to stock up on fun merchandise featuring the little purple dragon himself! Over the years Figment has become the mascot of sorts for the Food and Wine Festival, and it looks like he is dressed to impress this season! Figment Table Starting off with apparel, there are two Figment-themed tops to keep an eye out for. This cute t-shirt features Figment popping out of the shirt pocket, serving up a dish of Spaceship Earth! Figment Shirt For those chillier evenings, this long-sleeve shirt has rainbow stripes down the sleeves and says “Food and Wine Festival” on the front. Figment Hoodie With a CUTE collage on the back! Figment Leggings There’s also an assortment of mugs, shakers, and even a trivet! Figment Merchandise Here’s a close up of that Figment Shaker because we KNOW you want to see it. The Dooney and Bourke collection won’t be dropping on September 1st with the rest of the Food & Wine merch and we’re not sure when it will. On the bright side, there will be an Annual Passholder bag and a Dooney & Bourke MagicBand in addition to what we saw today! Dooney & Bourke AND let’s get COLLECTIBLE with the new pins that are coming out! Look at those awesomely detailed 25th Anniversary pins. The ten pins on top of the display are mystery pins. We’ve been enjoying all of the delicious treats at the 2020 Taste of EPCOT International Food & Wine Festival. 2020 Taste of EPCOT Even some fan favorite items, like the Italian Margarita in the Italy booth, and the Teriyaki Chicken Bun in the Japan booth, have made their way back to EPCOT. Now, we’ve got news about some MORE BOOTHS that will be joining the festival very soon! There are quite a few spots where you can grab some delicious items as part of the 2020 Taste of EPCOT International Food & Wine Festival, including a whole booth dedicated to gourmet mac & cheese! ALL the Mac and Cheese Now, we’ve got confirmation that MORE BOOTHS will be joining the Festival very soon! While we don’t know the exact date, we believe it may be sometime in early September. Now the question is, what booths will be joining the lineup? 2020 Taste of Food and Wine Festival We believe The Alps will be opening soon as the booth is already up in the park, and the sign notes that it is “Coming This Fall.” The Alps Booth We also believe that the Spain booth will be opening as this next phase in the Festival as it is also already up in EPCOT and says it will be coming soon. Spain Booth We also believe that The Donut Box will also be opening this fall. This is another one that is currently up in EPCOT but says it’s “Coming This Fall.” We definitely hope this booth returns so we can enjoy some more of those sweet treats we snacked on last year! The Donut Box Booth Also, we can’t be sure just yet, but we are guessing that 2 or 3 more booths will also open this fall. If we had to guess, one of the booths that is currently up in EPCOT but is unnamed looks like it may be Flavors from Fire. Unnamed Food Booth It looks very familiar to the 2019 Flavors from Fire booth. 2019 Flavors From Fire Booth We’ll keep our eyes (and noses) open for the sights (and smells) of any new booths and let you know what we find out! Just like Mickey Mouse and Pluto are a dynamic duo, so are our cast members and their four-legged friends! In celebration of International Dog Day, get to know some of our cast members and their canine companions. Megan Haug, Digital Producer and Linux “Linux is a very special puppy with a purpose –– he’s currently training to be a Guide Dog for someone who is visually impaired. I am a puppy raiser through Guide Dogs of America, which means that I have been working with Linux since he was eight weeks old. Taking Linux to Disneyland was an incredible experience; it’s a great opportunity to see all of the work we’ve been doing pay off. He’s been training very hard over the past year and is the happiest dog I’ve ever met. One day Linux will change someone’s life and raising Linus has forever changed mine.” Chelsea Auburn, Senior Associate, Alliance Management and Luna “Our sweet Luna loves showing off her Disney side with her countless accessories! She has a lot but her favorites are probably her princess leash, Minnie harness and rose gold ears to match mine. I’m a sucker for anything Disney-themed for Luna (and myself!) so when I saw they were coming out with matching spirit jerseys, I knew I had to get them for us.” David Romero, Software Developer, and Jasmine “Jasmine is a seven-year-old Golden Retriever, and she is an amazing service dog as well! Jasmine is a post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) dog, which means that she was trained to detect a pheromone that my body produces when I am in distress. She’s a really big Disney fan as well. She has also posed for pics with just about every character, although she is not a fan of Marie…” Katie Erickson, Director, Costuming, Walt Disney World and Disney Cruise Line and Murphy “Murphy is my diabetic alert dog; he’s an amazing creature that loves and protects me. Prior to working with Murphy, I never told anyone I had Type 1 Diabetes, but because of his vest, Guests and fellow Cast Members alike share their Diabetes stories with me now and I’ve found a new voice as an advocate both at Disney and in the community. When his vest is on, Murphy is all business, but when his vest is off, he loves to snuggle, prefers to be carried on my hip like a toddler and will chase and fetch balls for hours. He also loves to go boating and to the beach!” Frank Reifsnyder, Sr. Manager, Global Publicity, Disney Parks Experiences and Products and Loki “Our 1-year-old Chorgi (half Chihuahua, half Corgi) is a huge Disney fan. He was named after Loki, and loves Mickey, Marvel and Star Wars. He loves to dress up as and play with Spider-Man and has even met Mickey at a Cast Member Halloween event last year (where Loki is dressed as a hot dog and we went as condiments).” Tember Bower, Leader, Disney Reservations Center and Luke “Shortly after my husband and I got married, we started our search for a puppy. Then Luke found us. His owner had found him caught in a fence and couldn’t afford the surgery he would need to survive, so they decided to put him down. The vet fell in love with his sweet personality and decided to do the surgery anyway, with the hopes that she could find him a loving home. After hearing his story, we decided to go meet him to see if he would be a right fit for us. When he hobbled over on his three legs to meet me and laid his head in my lap, I knew he was meant to be my boy. He is now five years old and he doesn’t even know that he’s missing a back leg. He runs and plays like any four-legged dog, and our family wouldn’t be complete without him!” Shawn Becker, Disney Vacation Club Regulatory Affairs Specialist, Nani and Nala “I was just about to make the move to Orlando to start my second [Disney] College Program and thought a few extra friends for the journey might make the move easier. Little did I know how much this mother-daughter duo would end up meaning to me and helping me over the years and my career with the company. From the highs to the lows, to the attempts of dressing them up for Halloween, from working in the Parks, then Disney Vacation Club and now remotely in my home office, my girlies have been here for it all and I honestly don’t think I could have done any of this without them! I love them more than I could ever truly tell them and it raises that age old question of ‘Who rescued who?’” Dr. Mark Penning, Vice President, Disney’s Animals, Science & Environment and Nandi Dr. Mark Penning loves all animals, but his dog, Nandi, has a special place in his heart. Follow Dr. Mark on Instagram to see more furry friends from Disney’s Animal Kingdom. Our Disney Ambassadors are joining in the #InternationalDogDay fun too, with photos from past park visits! Don’t forget to share your favorite pup photos using #DisneyMagicMoments. Walt Disney World Ambassador Marilyn West and Charlie working from home. Disneyland Resort Ambassador Justin Rapp and Pluto. Shanghai Disney Resort Ambassador Eleven Song with Goofy and Pluto. Disneyland Paris Ambassador Giona Prevete and Pluto. View the full article

Today is International Dog Day and we’re celebrating everyone’s favorite fido with a fur-bulous collection of positively paw-some Pluto styles – past and present – from Disney parks around the world! Whether pouncing his way into hearts at Disneyland Resort, hotdogging in a giant teacup at Hong Kong Disneyland or chasing a day of snorkeling at Tokyo Disneyland Resort – everything is simply paw-tastic when Pluto is around. So, to mark the day, we’ve dug up some Pluto magic for everyone at home. Our celebration of one of the world’s most beloved Disney characters begins at Shanghai Disneyland Resort where his style is worthy of ap-paws. (Photo from Chinese New Year 2019. Does not reflect current social distancing guidelines.) Mickey’s loyal pooch is a great fur-riend looking for fun. So, of course, hotdogging on a spinning teacup comes natural at Hong Kong Disneyland. With a super surfboard necklace, Pluto is ready to “hang ten” in a special moment captured in the tropical paradise of Aulani, A Disney Resort & Spa in Hawai`i. Pluto can also sniff out the best photo locations for a stylistic shot – like digging in right in front of Sleeping Beauty Castle at Disneyland Resort. And Pluto has a tail waggin’ good time at Sleeping Beauty Castle at Disneyland Paris. Seafaring Pluto was stylishly decked out for a special role on board one of the Disney Cruise Line ships – with a paw-fect sailor’s hat! And during the dog days of summer at Walt Disney World Resort, Pluto is game to em-bark on a space adventure orbiting a galaxy of planets in Tomorrowland. At Tokyo Disney Resort, Pluto sports his best snorkeling gear for a stylish dip in the water. And a playful Pluto poses next to his favorite topiaries at Disney’s Hilton Head Island Resort. We hope you enjoyed our special celebration of Pluto style from around the world!
