While Disney incorporates some AWESOME technological features into its parks, mishaps and glitches are bound to happen at some point or another. The Cinderella Castle Moat is Full! Recently, we’ve seen Rise of the Resistance shut down multiple times, a Splash Mountain log flume boat sink, and a few other problems around Disney World. But, today, it looks like the Disney World app — My Disney Experience — is having a few technical difficulties of its own! After a few readers reached out to let us know they were having trouble accessing their Plans on the app, we accessed My Disney Experience to find a notice that some of Disney’s “digital experiences may be unavailable at this time.” ©Disney Disney is working on fixing the problems on My Disney Experience app at the moment. However, if you’re experiencing difficulties, you may try to use a computer to access your plans, or access your account via web browser on a mobile device if you’re in the parks. If you cannot use either, be sure to stop by a Guest Service kiosk in the parks for help from a Cast Member! We’ll make sure to keep you updated on the situation throughout the day. Here’s all the news you need to know about Disney World from this week! Are you in Disney World today? Let us know what park you’re visiting in the comments below! We’ve had some seriously fantastic food around EPCOT recently. Special Edition Macarons Collection From new special edition macaron sets to a deliciously cheesy treat at a Food & Wine Festival booth that opened this weekend, our taste buds have been in a true flavor paradise lately! Recently, we spotted another new seasonal treat and it’s berry good! The France pavilion has brought us new Minnie ears, new kitchen merchandise, and delicious food lately. Très magnifique! Now, we’ve found a new refreshing treat you’ll definitely want to check out during your next trip! Over in the back of the pavilion, you’ll find L’Artisan des Glaces. You can get some fantastic ice cream, sorbet, and more at this spot. L’Artisan des Glaces If you’re looking to meld your love for macarons with your love for ice cream, then you’ll definitely want to check out their seasonal macaron ice cream sandwiches. When we stopped by this weekend, we found the seasonal speciality was Raspberry Vanilla Swirl Ice Cream sandwiched between Raspberry Macarons. Raspberry Macaron Ice Cream Sandwich We loved how colorful this sweet treat was! The macaron offered a great texture difference that balanced the snack nicely, and the ice cream was wonderfully cool and refreshing. It was particularly nice after a walk around World Showcase in the Florida heat! Raspberry Macaron Ice Cream Sandwich It is a seasonal offering, so if you love raspberry, you’ll want to grab one of these before new flavors take over. The next time you’re walking around EPCOT, be sure to take a trip to this spot. You may just find your new favorite Disney snack! We’ll keep an eye out for the very best in Disney food news and let you know what we find! The Spain booth is back at the Food & Wine Festival! Click here to check out our review. While movie theaters have started to re-open, Disney+ has decided to release Mulan on its streaming platform for an additional $30 price tag. Mulan Preview Since the film’s theatrical debut was delayed indefinitely, the option to watch the movie with Premier Access has been a bit controversial. Fans have felt torn over their want to watch Mulan and the extra cost on top of their Disney+ subscription. However, Disney+ has provided an update to their Mulan streaming according to Screen Rant! Where viewers can pre-order the movie before it’s released through Premier Access on September 4th, the Mulan page states that the film will be released “to all Disney+ subscribers on December 4, 2020.” ©Screen Rant Once guests purchase the movie in September, they’ll be able to watch it as many times as they want on the streaming service. However, if viewers would rather wait to stream it for free, Mulan‘s shift to a free format in December could be due to Disney’s hope to release the film in theaters in these upcoming months. Mulan Preview Disney hasn’t announced a theatrical release date just yet. But, in the meantime, you can watch a sneak peek of the movie in Disney’s Hollywood Studios or the newest trailer before streaming it soon! Here’s everything coming to Disney+ in September! Although we’ve been spending our time in Disney World to give you a full look at what’s happening in the parks, there has been SO MUCH going on over at Universal Orlando! Universal Orlando Resort While Halloween Horror Nights has been canceled, the Tribute Store has been decked out in a whole new Beetlejuice room and lots of spooky treats. But, the Florida theme parks are having to keep up with the times by making modifications regularly. According to WESH 2 News, Universal Orlando Resort Hotels will have to furlough more than 1,000 employees again, despite the parks’ attendance doing well at the moment. Universal Studios Resort Universal gave notice that some of its resort employees would be laid off for six months or longer (and quite possibly permanently). As the parks have reduced their amount of Team Members, Loews Portofino Bay Hotel, Loews Sapphire Falls Resort, Universal’s Aventura Hotel, and Universal’s Endless Summer Resort – Dockside Inn and Suites will be closed through the end of the year. Aventura Hotel However, the furloughs will be happening at Cabana Bay with 164 employees laid off, 200 individuals at Hard Rock Hotel, 475 Team Members at Portofino Bay, and 176 support staff. A statement from Loews Hotels has informed the WESH 2 News outlet that “Unfortunately, the global pandemic surrounding COVID-19 has forced Loews Hotels & Co to make some difficult decisions as it relates to our workforce… . Team Members are the backbone of our company…and rest assured, these measures were not taken lightly.” Team Members As Universal Orlando and other Florida theme parks continue to make changes as they adapt to the current situations at hand, we’ll keep you updated on how the resort experiences are modified! If there’s one thing that Annual Passholders are obsessed with (you know, other than Disney World in general), it’s those specialized magnets. Walt Disney World Annual Passholder We’ve seen some MASSIVE lines wrapping around the parks just to pick up these bbs. But, since Disney is making sure to limit the people in the parks right now, those big queues are just not an option. Still, Annual Passholders will be able to get their precious magnets because Disney is mailing them out to guests throughout the summer (bless up!!). We got a sneak peek of this month’s Annual Passholder Magnet for Disney World guests with Tinker Bell looking like a fairy QUEEN. And, the magnet has finally appeared on our door steps with a bit of pixie dust and a lot of cuteness! Tinker Bell Magnet And, we just want to take a moment to admire how stunning the Annual Passholder magnet is! Tink looks happier than usual (she’s setting her sass aside to strike a pose) on a light green background filled with sparkles and fairy wings. Tinker Bell Magnet We definitely appreciate being able to have the Annual Passholder magnets sent straight to our door instead of waiting an hour in line in the parks! And, if they continue to be as cute as the Tinker Bell version, we can’t see what the next magnet will look like! Tinker Bell Magnet Even though you won’t have to head to EPCOT to grab an Annual Passholder magnet at MouseGear, you can still head to the parks for NEW Food and Wine Festival booths that have opened today! While you’re planning your upcoming Disney World vacation, give us a holler with your questions so we can help you find the answers. Oh boy, oh boy do we have news for you today! For all of you Minnie ear fans — especially those of you who are LOVING the Minnie Mouse Main Attraction collections — listen up! Over in EPCOT today we spotted something that definitely should NOT have been there! A bevy of beautiful King Arthur Carrousel Ears! King Arthur Carrousel Ears in EPCOT Disney has stated that they would not release these limited edition collections in the parks, so finding them here is a bit shocking. Especially since there have been so many issues with the Merch Pass set-up on these much-loved collections. But if you’re in EPCOT today, you may just get lucky! Hello from the A Taste of EPCOT International Food and Wine Festival! (We practically live here, it feels like.) A Taste of EPCOT International Food and Wine Festival While we’re anxiously waiting to snag all those Figment and Chef Minnie items coming soon, the Food and Wine Festival is also bringing back more food booths across EPCOT. Of course, we couldn’t resist taking you with us to check out the returning and brand new menus at the booths on their OPENING DAY. While we already stopped over at The Alps, we’re heading over for a l’il taste of Spain in EPCOT too! Spain has returned from last year’s Food and Wine Festival, buuut the catch is that there is a shorter…and slightly updated.. menu this year in the midst of all the changes happening around the parks. 2020 Spain Booth When guests enter the line, they will be asked to follow distancing measures and safety precautions before placing their order behind the plexiglass at the counter. Distancing Markers Although we’ve had to say goodbye to the Seafood Salad and Lagar de Bouza Albariño this year (RIP, friends), past food and drinks have still come back for the 2020 line-up. And, one of the biggest menu items has seen a bit of a simplified version at the Spain booth! 2020 Menu Last year, the Charcuterie was offered in a cone. However, 2020 has broken the dish down into a less complicated serving… in a cup. ;D The Charcuterie cup is filled up with imported Spanish Meats, Cheeses, Olives, and an Herb Vinaigrette for $6.50. Charcuterie Although this cup may not look like much, we were SHOCKED by how filling and flavorful the Charcuterie was! There’s a lot more food inside than we expected, which packed so many wonderful flavors. The manchego is a harder cheese that has a great nutty taste compared to the saltiness of the meats. Charcuterie with imported Spanish Meats, Cheeses and Olives with an Herb Vinaigrette The Spanish meats (very like prosciutto and salami) had great seasoning and a bit of olive oil that was worth it. This could easily be a great cup to share as a snack with someone, since it was filling for the size (and $6.50 price tag)! Charcuterie with imported Spanish Meats, Cheeses and Olives with an Herb Vinaigrette But, the Spanish-style Paella has also returned with a few changes! While the Paella featured at the Spain booth previously had chicken, the snack has been mixed up with Chorizo, Shrimp, and Rice instead for $5.50 during this year’s festival. Spanish-style Paella with Chorizo, Shrimp, and Rice The Chorizo and Shrimp Paella was just as good as the chicken version from last year. The shrimp was big and packed with flavor, while the chorizo offered that needed hint of spice (since Disney doesn’t typically do MEGA spicy dishes). Charcuteri and Paella The sips on the menu still include the Casa Castillo Monastrell and Espelt Garnacha Old Vines for $5 each to follow all that great Spanish cuisine! Still, the snackin’ and sippin’ doesn’t stop at the Spain booth! We still have more places to visit around the Food and Wine Festival today. And, we’re taking you with us to look at it all, so keep following along on our EPCOT adventures! Take a look at our reviews of ALL the booths at the Food and Wine Festival here! What’s your favorite booth this year at the Food and Wine Festival? Let us know in the comments below! The weekend is HERE, and there’s no better way to celebrate this Saturday than with new Food and Wine snacks and treats (can we get an amen??). International Food and Wine Festival While the A Taste of EPCOT International Food and Wine Festival has taken elements of the Flower and Garden Festival that was cut short this year, we haven’t seen too many Food and Wine festivities happening in the parks. But, this week we got a sneak peek at the specially themed merchandise that would be coming to the parks, as well as more food booths across EPCOT. And, it looks like today’s that day because The Alps has officially opened to guests with warm, delicious cheese and frozen drinks! The Alps Booth The Alps is following the same safety precautions as the other booths in the World Showcase with distancing markers, line dividers, hand-sanitizer stations, and plexiglass barriers. Distancing Measures And this epic booth brought back quite a few of its fan-favorite snacks and drinks (and you KNOW we are all over that Warm Raclette Swiss Cheese)! But, a few oldies have seen some updates and brand new treats have made their way onto the menu for 2020. The Alps Menu While you can get the Warm Raclette Swiss Cheese with Baby Potatoes, Cornichons, and a Baguette for $4.50 like previous years, now you can have a second version with Alpine Ham added in for $5.50! Warm Raclette Swiss Cheese with Alpine Ham, Baby Potatoes, Cornichons and Baguette Plastic cheese has been one of our favorites in Disney World for a looong time. But, the melted Swiss cheese in this dish is honestly so good, it might even convert non-cheese lovers. The ham has a hint of saltiness that balances out the milder taste of the Swiss. Warm Raclette Swiss Cheese with Alpine Ham, Baby Potatoes, Cornichons and Baguette Plus, the pickles and potatoes pack some extra flavor and texture with each bite, along with the baguette for dipping! Although it’s more like a fondue or mini charcuterie, the Warm Raclette Swiss Cheese is definitely big enough to sub out for your lunch or dinner in the parks. Look at all that CHEESE! Even though last year’s Food and Wine Festival had the Blueberry and Almond Frangipane Tart served with Crème Fraîche, the 2020 version looks a LOT different. The tart in 2019 actually looked like a tart, while The Alps has made the tart into more of a cake this year for $4.50. Blueberry and Almond Frangipane Tart with Crème Fraîche Cream and Blue Diamond® Almonds Since it was a sunny day, the topping on our tart melted (so be warned if you want that cute Instagram photo)! Although the tart has more of a vanilla cake base, it’s light and moist. The blueberry HITS in this treat, but we could have used more of that almond flavor coming through. The Blueberry and Almond Frangipane Tart is a good portion, so it’s shareable with one of your friends and family members for an afternoon pick-me-up. Blueberry and Almond Frangipane Tart When you’re at Food and Wine, it’s basically a necessity to try as many drinks at the booths as possible. The Alps is serving the same Maison Willm Réserve Gewürztraminer from the 2020 Thailand booth for $6 and the René Favre Dôle from last year for $7. While the Frozen Rosé was featured last year for $9, we couldn’t help but want to sip on it again in this Florida heat! Frozen Rose 2019 The Florida sun struck AGAIN during our visit to The Alps. The “Frozen Rosé” ended up just being…um…really cold Rosé by the time we were able to drink it. The flavors were perfectly in the middle on the Rosé scale with a hint of sweetness and a touch of dryness on the end, which was very refreshing during our walk around the World Showcase. But yeah, if you want it actually frozen, it may need to be a cooler day (or maybe their freezer machines just weren’t getting the job done yet since the booth literally JUST opened)! Frozen Rose Since there are even MORE booths that have popped up in EPCOT today, we’ll take you with us to check out the rest of the Food and Wine goodies that are available for the Fall season! Take a look at our reviews of ALL the booths at the Food and Wine Festival here! What’s your favorite booth this year at the Food and Wine Festival? Let us know in the comments below! The Disney World theme parks have been open for almost two months now. Magic Kingdom We’ve certainly been busy keeping up with all of the new health measures and getting you the best advice for navigating Disney World in the age of the global health crisis. We know a lot of you are wondering if Disney World is safe right now, and that’s a complicated question. To help answer it, we’re taking a look at a question many of you have asked us — if any COVID-19 cases have been traced back to Disney World. Florida Orange County Mayor Jerry Demings holds regular press conferences to give updates on the current health situation in the county. A common question from reporters at these conferences is, “Can you update us on whether or not there have been any outbreaks traced to any of the theme parks?” We know many of you want to know the same. EPCOT The answer has remained the same for a while and, in a recent conference, Dr. Raul Pino from the Florida Department of Health in Orange County stated that, “We keep getting this question from everywhere; that’s the same question that we hear from the state all the time. And the answer is no.” So, currently, no cases have been definitively traced to the Orlando theme parks. Of course, that’s not the end of things. Pino noted that they have seen the occasional case that has some reference to one of the Orlando theme parks (i.e. someone who is diagnosed was “there last week.”), but they are actively looking for a case that they can specifically trace back as having originated at an Orlando theme park and have not found it. Tree of Life “The parks are taking great measures,” Pino noted, “and they have gone to great lengths to be able to open and to prevent transmission. But it’s also the whole thing of an open space, I think is making a difference.” He attributed the fact that no cases have been found to the capacity limitations and health and safety measures in place. Disney World So, as of yet, no cases have been exclusively traced to Disney World. Now, that doesn’t guarantee that you CAN’T get sick in Disney World, but it might suggest that health measures have been pretty successful so far. Stay tuned to DFB for the latest updates. When you think of Halloween, the first things that come to mind could be candy, costumes, Pumpkin Spice Lattes, or festive decorations! Main Street U.S.A. Speaking of decorations, drive through a number of neighborhoods this time of year and you may spot some large-and-in-charge decorations creeping on front lawns! We spotted a TON of Disney-themed inflatables on Home Depot’s website, which all of a sudden became our new favorite place to shop for Halloween. What immediately drew our attention was this giant Oogie Boogie inflatable, standing quite tall at a whopping ten-and-a-half-feet! Just IMAGINE how many bugs would fit inside this practically life-size Oogie! © Home Depot Holding his signature pair of dice, the Santa-kidnapping villain from Nightmare Before Christmas is NOT to be messed with! You can add him to your yard for $149.00. Click here to shop for the 10.5′ tall Oogie Boogie inflatable! For a perhaps more “modest” approach to the Halloween season, we spotted a similar Oogie Boogie inflatable but standing at a mere three-and-a-half-feet. He’s a Baby Boogie!! He’s certainly less intimidating than his ten and a half-foot counterpart! © Home Depot Some may think a three-foot Oogie is puny, but we think he’ll still spook the smaller crowd! Pick this lil’ pumpkin up for $29.98. Click here to shop for the 3.5′ Oogie Boogie inflatable! And you simply cannot have Oogie Boogie without his three henchmen, Lock, Shock, and Barrel! This inflatable set includes all three of the mischievous children, standing at four-feet tall. © Home Depot Shock’s banner that she holds says “Everyday is Halloween,” which we can totally get on board with! The set of three inflatables costs $129.00. While you’re at Home Depot, you could totally pick up a bathtub to put them in, since that is their preferred method of transportation! Click here to shop for the Lock, Shock, and Barrel inflatable set! How about an inflatable that’s perhaps a bit less villainous? Our favorite Pumpkin King, Jack Skellington, can also be added to your front yard with a massive projection globe! This inflatable stands at nine-feet tall. © Home Depot He’s giving off part Pumpkin King, part Madame Leota vibes! LOVE it! Your house will DEFINITELY be easier to spot at nighttime with this colorful inflatable, which costs $169.99. Click here to shop for the Jack Skellington inflatable! If you REALLY want to go all-out with over-the-top Nightmare Before Christmas decor, perhaps a TWELVE-FOOT Jack Skellington is up your alley! This “animated” inflatable resembles one of those fun inflatables you might spot on a used car lot boogieing down in the wind! © Home Depot This thing is SURE to slow some cars driving past your house! You can really get your Halloween party started with a twelve-foot tall Jack, which you can get at Home Depot for $199.00. Click here to shop for the Jack Skellington tube sock! If you’re looking for something a little more petite, perhaps something that can fit on your porch, a twelve-foot Jack Skellington probably won’t fit the bill, but a three-and-a-half foot Jack might! © Home Depot Judging by that pumpkin next to Jack in the photo, this inflatable stands at approximately five pumpkins tall (yes, pumpkins are totes a unit of measurement this time of year, obviously. )! Pick one up at Home Depot for $29.98. Click here to shop for the Jack Skellington inflatable! But who is Jack Skellington without his ghost dog Zero? Why not get an inflatable that features both characters, standing at five-feet tall? © Home Depot Turn your lawn into your very own Halloween Town with this inflatable set, which costs $69.98. Click here to shop for the Jack Skellington & Zero inflatable! Speaking of hauntingly adorable pups, we found a six-foot-tall inflatable featuring Miguel and Dante from the Pixar film Coco! © Home Depot If your household celebrates Dia de los Muertos, this could be a fun decorative element to add to your front lawn! This inflatable costs $129.00. Click here to shop for the Miguel and Dante inflatable! If you’re looking for a more classic Disney touch to your Halloween decor, these next few inflatables may be perfect for you! First, Minnie Mouse decided to dress as a vampire for Halloween complete with little bat wings! © Home Depot This three-and-a-half-foot inflatable can greet your trick-or-treaters this Halloween season for $29.98. Click here to shop for this adorable Minnie Mouse inflatable! Not to be outdone, Mickey Mouse himself has ALSO dressed as a vampire for Halloween, complete with fangs. © Home Depot This three-and-a-half-foot tall inflatable retails for $29.98. Click here to shop for the Mickey Mouse inflatable! Can’t decide between the two of them? Why not get both in one inflatable set? Mickey and Minnie and joined by a pair of adorable jack-o’-lanterns, standing at four-and-a-half-feet tall! © Home Depot Mickey is still rocking his vamp look, but this time Minnie opted to be a pretty princess! This perfect pair can be found at Home Depot for $135.79. Click here to shop for the Mickey and Minnie inflatable! How about some Halloween decor from a galaxy far, far away? R2-D2 would like to join the festivities, and he even brought his own pumpkin! © Home Depot This three-foot-tall inflatable is available at Home Depot for $69.99. Click here to shop for the R2D2 inflatable! For an inflatable perhaps just as cute, Frozen fans will love this four-foot-tall Olaf inflatable. Guys, he has a SVEN PUMPKIN. © Home Depot With a snowman holding a pumpkin, is it fall? Winter? Summer? Samantha? Find out when you pick up this cute Olaf inflatable for $49.98! Click here to shop for the Olaf inflatable! And finally, we spotted a Darth Vader inflatable, standing at an imposing three-and-a-half-feet tall. © Home Depot His tombstone may read “I find your lack of treats disturbing,” but perhaps it should instead say, “Judge me by my size, do you?” This inflatable retails for $41.70. Click here to shop for the Darth Vader inflatable! If you’re like us, Halloween is the PERFECT time of year to really let your love of the season shine, and what better way to let EVERYONE on your street know how much your love Halloween than with an assortment of inflatables? Dippold’s other writing credits include the recent Ghostbusters reboot, and the 2013 comedy, The Heat. ©Alberto E. Rising moons! Tomorrow is an exciting day, as it marks the one-year anniversary of Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge at Disney’s Hollywood Studios. In anticipation of this milestone, tonight we’re taking you on a virtual, 360-degree trip inside two of the most popular venues in the land: Oga’s Cantina and Dok-Ondar’s Den of Antiquities! These two videos capture one of my favorite things about traveling to Black Spire Outpost on Batuu … I literally just love standing still and looking around. There’s so much to see, so much to hear, so many incredible details to soak in – I seem to discover something new every time I visit. Dok-Ondar’s Den of Antiquities is the perfect place for this type of visual exploration, with its eclectic selection of rare and mysterious items. In this 360-degree video, you can look around the shop and learn more about many of the artifacts that adorn its walls. Oga’s Cantina is where people gather in Black Spire Outpost to share their stories with one another. In this 360-degree video, you can look around the vibrant watering hole and listen to the music provided by DJ R-3X (I’m pretty sure you’ll recognize the tune he’s playing). You may want to watch this while using a pair of earphones – it sure sounds like there are some whispers from a galaxy far, far away I’m detecting in there. After all, you never know what you may overhear in Oga’s Cantina … Check back with us tomorrow here at the Disney Parks Blog, as we will have more coverage of the Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge one-year anniversary at Disney’s Hollywood Studios.
