  1. There’s a MAJOR Disney World construction coming up and it tends to fly under the radar. Magic Kingdom Sign We’re so focused on projects inside the parks like the EPCOT France Pavilion expansion or the upcoming Space 220 Restaurant, that we sometimes forget about the projects happening right outside the park gates. Take, for instance, the major World Drive overhaul to help ease traffic outside of Magic Kingdom. We haven’t thought about that one in a while but now, Phase 2 of the project is officially starting! Earlier this year, we found permits with the South Florida Water Management District to approve major work on a section of World Drive right behind the Magic Kingdom parking lot. The ultimate goal is to widen the railway, add several ramps, and add four new bridges to carry Floridian Way over the Magic Kingdom Road, making it much easier to access Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa. Construction Plans ©Disney Overall, the project should do a lot to alleviate traffic in the area once it’s finished, but in the meantime, it could have more adverse effects on your route. Today, we found the permitting for the commencement of the project meaning that we should see this phase of the work begin soon. We’ll keep an eye out to report if it affects the current traffic pattern in any way! ©Disney Again, this is a largescale project with the permit referencing a $33 million price tag at times. According to the notice, the permit is valid through December 22nd, 2022 which gives us some idea of how long this project might be in progress. Construction Plans ©Disney As always, stay tuned to DFB for the latest construction updates around Disney World! Click here to learn more about the World Drive project! 3. Although some of the restaurants at the Morocco pavilion in EPCOT were open when we first visited EPCOT after the reopening, Tangerine Cafe has since closed. Morocco Pavilion Now, the story surrounding the Morocco pavilion continues to develop. Just today, Disney filed a State of Florida Uniform Commercial Code Financing Statement Form involving Marrakesh Moroccan Restaurant, LLC. You can find this by searching through the Orange County public records. Financing Statement The statement identifies Marrakesh Moroccan Restaurant, LLC as the debtor and Walt Disney Parks and Resorts U.S., Inc. as the secured party. Tangierine Cafe Closed According to Florida Jurisprudence, a secondary legal resource, “[t]he objective of filing a financing statement is to give notice of the existence of the creditor’s security interest in the described collateral.” In other words, if a person or company has a security interest in certain property that has been pledged as collateral as part of a certain arrangement, then a financing statement may be filed, provided all of the appropriate requirements are met, to give notice of the secured party’s interest in the collateral. Morocco Pavilion in EPCOT This financing statement filed by Disney indicates that it covers collateral including “All goods, inventory, the Furnishings, and all other items of personal property belonging to Debtor which are or may be put into the Facilities and all proceeds of the foregoing.” Tangerine Cafe Sign It appears that Disney and Marrakesh Moroccan Restaurant, LLC made some kind of agreement whereby an obligation or debt that Marrakesh owes to Disney was secured by their goods, inventory, and other personal property and Disney was granted a security interest in that collateral. Now, Disney has filed this financing statement to provide notice of its security interest in these items, which may be turned to for recourse if Marrakesh is unable to pay the debt it owes to Disney. Morocco Pavilion It’s unclear exactly what arrangement has granted this security interest to Disney, but we’ll keep searching the public records and elsewhere to see if we can find any more information. 5. We weren’t expecting to see THIS in Disney World this year! Castle Hub Refreshment Cart Okay, so there’s nothing that surprising about Halloween Churros and we’ve already seen all of the exciting Halloween Popcorn Buckets this year. But we’ll tell you what IS exciting. You can get the Black and Orange Churros IN a Souvenir Popcorn Bucket! What?! Those are usually for popcorn! We were checking out the options at the snack carts in Magic Kingdom when we came across this interesting discovery at the Castle Hub Refreshment Cart. You can get TWO Black and Orange Churros in an Oogie Boogie or Mickey Pumpkin Balloon Bucket for $22! The churros in this pick are split in half to fit in the bucket better. Black and Orange Churros in an Oogie Boogie Bucket The Black and Orange Churros on their own will run you $7.25, slightly higher than the regular churro price of $6.50. The only real difference from a standard churro is that these ones have Black and Orange Sugar coating the outside. They taste pretty similar but they LOOK a lot spookier. Black and Orange Churros Still, we’d say these guys are super fun! Ours were so hot and fresh that they broke in half right when we got them. Um…yum! Black and Orange Churros They also come with chocolate dippers! These treats are a little bit pricier than we might typically like (We’d probably opt for the regular churros at the price point!), but getting them with the souvenir bucket makes the deal a lot better. Black and Orange Churros in an Oogie Boogie Bucket Keep an eye on DFB for all of the Halloween-y updates out of Disney World! Talk to ya soon! Click here to see more of the Oogie Boogie Bucket and the Mickey Pumpkin Balloon Bucket! Will you be snagging the special churros in Magic Kingdom? Tell us in the comments! 6. Don’t tell the other sippers, but the Madame Leota Sipper might be our favorite this spooky season! Madame Leota Sipper Cup She’s perfect in every way: beautiful, paranormal, and full of a refreshing beverage. What more could we ask for? The ONLY downside to the Madame Leota Sipper is that we had to wait in a pretty long line to get our hands on her. Now though, there’s a way you can get your hands on this souvenir WITHOUT the wait! What!?! We were walking through Liberty Square today and spotted the typically long line over at Sleepy Hollow, but something was different. There was a Cast Member asking guests in line if they were there for the Madame Leota Sipper or if they wanted food. If you’re just waiting on the sipper, you’ll be sent across the way to the Liberty Square Ticket Office. Sleepy Hollow And look! There’s absolutely NO LINE. Essentially this shift has made it a much quicker process to snag the Madame Leota Sipper. Liberty Square Ticketing Office Once inside, you can head right up to the Cast Members at the counter and pay for your Madame Leota Sipper there. It comes with a bottle of water for sipping too. Liberty Square Ticketing Office And voila! You’ve got your very own Madame Leota Sipper without the wait! If you’re not looking for anything to eat, you can skip Sleepy Hollow altogether and just head into the Liberty Square Ticketing Office. Madame Leota Sipper Cup That’s pretty neat if we do say so ourselves. As always, stay tuned to DFB for the latest updates from inside the Disney parks! Click here for more pics of the Madame Leota Sipper! Do you have your eye on the Madame Leota Sipper? Tell us in the comments! Beach Club Construction Updates The Beach Club Marketplace The Beach Club Marketplace is still under construction. But, you can head over to The Solarium for the time being to grab select merchandise, food, and beverage items. Solarium Walkway Near Seaside Retreat As we walked around, we also noticed that the walkway near Seaside Retreat was blocked off. We saw that some Halloween merchandise was available there. Solarium As well as some Disney Cloth Face Masks. Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort & Campgrounds — General Updates We were in the mood for a bit of an adventure so we left the world of yachts and beaches for some good ‘ole wilderness fun at Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort & Campgrounds. Fort Wilderness There, we found a Movie Under the Stars schedule for that resort — ooOooo Meet the Robinsons is showing some nights, so fun! Movie Schedule We also spotted some families using the Assay Station. If you’re looking for this spot, it’s near the Meadow pool and the Bike Barn. Assay Station To use this, you’ll first need to grab a bag of mining rough enriched with real gemstones. You can get this bag from the Bike Barn window. Assay Station Then, you place part of the rough from the bag in a screen bottom box. Assay Station Finally, you dip the box in the sluice and watch the gemstones pop up as the soil washes away! 9. It’s no surprise that the Disney company has had a hard year when it comes to the theme parks. Magic Kingdom Last month, we learned during the recent company earnings call that Disney had lost billions in revenue from the park closures earlier this year. Now, many of the parks are open again and Disney executives say that they are making a net positive contribution to the bottom line. But how long until Disney’s earnings are back where they used to be? According to the Orange County Register, Deutsche Bank analysts are weighing in in a new report about the coming years for the Walt Disney Company. The analysts explain that the 2021 Fiscal Year will likely constitute another “lost year” for Disney Parks, Experiences, and Products. Mickey Mouse Ultimately, the forecast for the decline in Disney Parks, Experiences, and Products revenue for 2020 is expected to be a whopping $9.8 billion. Analysts consider Disney unable to see a full recovery until a treatment and vaccine are widely available, predicting a return to pre-pandemic revenues all the way in 2023. EPCOT It isn’t all bad news though. At this time, analysts do note that “We believe the recovery in theme park attendance is progressing, albeit gradually.” This improvement in attendance is one that could be seen with the crowd levels in Disney World during Labor Day weekend. The assessment is that the recovery trend will continue as cases in Florida decline. The Emporium Plus, though 2021 may be lost, the Deutsche Bank analysts are forecasting “substantial improvement” in 2022 with pre-pandemic revenues returning in 2023. Even better for the company, the report notes that the Disney Parks, Experiences, and Products sector may see revenue at $10 billion higher than pre-pandemic levels by 2025. Disney World Outside of the theme park division, Disney is still considered in good shape. Despite such a long road to recovery for the parks, the Deutsche Bank upgraded Disney’s stock on the strength of Disney+. Now, Disney stock is once again considered “Buy.” As always, stay tuned to DFB for the latest updates and to hear about the newest financial predictions for the Walt Disney Company. Those ARE the Minnie Ears from the Dumbo the Flying Elephant collection of the Minnie Mouse: The Main Attraction series IN MAGIC KINGDOM. Despite the fact that Disney announced that some limited-edition merchandise would not be released in parks to help with social distancing, we found most of the NEWEST Main Attraction line today! We were taking our morning stroll through Fantasyland when a display in Sir Mickey’s caught our eye. Almost everything from the Dumbo the Flying Elephant line was available, most importantly, those ADORABLE Dumbo Minnie Ears. Dumbo Minnie Ears We particularly love how glitzy these ears look, but the best part is clearly the grey feather sticking up in the middle — just like Dumbo uses to fly! 16. I don’t like to repeat myself when it comes to photography – if I find a cool angle on a shot, tomorrow I want to find a different one. This can be a real challenge sometimes, though, now that I’ve been a Disney photographer for nearly 40 years! But I’m always in search of new locations and perspectives that showcase the grandeur and magic of Disney destinations around the world. This little philosophy of mine was the primary reason I was invited to Tokyo Disneyland in early 1989. The park had been open for a few years by that point and the team over there was looking for a fresh perspective on how to photograph the resort. The photo you see here was taken during that trip. My idea was a classic “East meets West” visual, with Mickey Mouse greeting a young Japanese woman in a traditional kimono. While this image may appear clean and simplistic in form, it took a lot of preparation to set up – Tokyo Disneyland is one of the most popular theme parks in the world, and we needed its World Bazaar area (its version of Main Street, U.S.A.) completely clear of guests and cast members. It took a lot of discussions, but it was also a good lesson for my fellow photographers in Tokyo for turning dream photos into reality. I made some great friendships on that trip, and I still remain in touch with members of that team to this day, more than three decades later. We frequently talk about new technologies in our field and share advice on one another’s assignments. And it all started with this photo, which has always been one of my favorites. Simple, elegant and uniquely Tokyo Disneyland! View the full article

Will this be the tale of Olaf’s origin story?! We guess we’ll find out on October 23rd! ©Disney We’re pretty pumped for this one. Although, it might be weird to watch a nose-less Olaf for so long. Cinderella Castle Check out all the new happenings at Magic Kingdom, including the return of some of our favorite Halloween treats as well as some brand-new merchandise! Magic Kingdom Food Updates Casey’s Corner Of all the dining locations that have yet to reopen in Disney World, Casey’s Corner is perhaps the hardest pill to swallow! While the corn dog nuggets are (finally) back in Magic Kingdom, we have to trek all the way to Westward Ho in Frontierland to enjoy them (and it’s not always open). New Mobile Order signage instructions Disney is definitely pushing Mobile Order more than usual these days as a way of minimizing contact between Guests and Cast Members. See what other modifications Disney is bringing to the Mobile Order experience! Magic Kingdom Merchandise Updates Sleepy Hollow Our first merchandise update was spotted at a dining location! That’s because the new Madame Leota sipper cup, available at Sleepy Hollow, has gotten quite a bit of attention from Guests. Madame Leota Sipper Cup So much so, that yesterday the line to acquire one of these sippers was one of the LONGEST lines we saw in the park all day! That’s right, longer than most of the ride lines, too! 23. Prepare yourselves, poor unfortunate souls. Poor Unfortunate Souls Another epic Halloween treat has returned to Disney World and we’re here to tell ya if it’s worth the adorable Insta pics. The Poor Unfortunate Souls Float is BACK at Storybook Treats in Magic Kingdom for $6.99. This float is a strange mix of colors and could make for some really cool foodie photos. But the flavors are a weird combination! We’ll be honest, we weren’t the biggest fans last time we had this one. But now, everything has changed! Poor Unfortunate Souls The float is made with cream cheese soft-serve, black raspberry syrup, and Coke. Interestingly enough, this float is actually made differently from when we had it earlier this year at the Disney Villains After Hours event. Then, instead of the cream cheese soft-serve and black raspberry syrup, it had black raspberry soft serve that tasted…like medicine. Blech. Poor Unfortunate Soul So, does this change in recipe improve this villainous treat? YES! That cream cheese flavor was way more pronounced than we were expecting. If you’re on the fence about cream cheese this ain’t for you, but if you’re a cream cheese buff (like we are) this might be a favorite! Poor Unfortunate Souls This is a fun treat to pair with the Hades Nachos (that you can read more about here). We will continue to keep you posted as we review all the new fall treats, so stay tuned! 24. Today, California Governor Gavin Newsom held a news conference where he provided an update on the state’s reopening initiatives. While taking questions from reporters, Newsom commented that the negotiations with theme parks are “open-ended,” signaling that the state has yet to produce definitive reopening guidelines for Disneyland. Sleeping Beauty Castle It was also announced today that Orange County, where Disneyland resides, has advanced to the next reopening tier. According to the city of Anaheim’s reopening website, that means that indoor dining can resume soon! Indoor dining was suspended statewide over the summer by Governor Newsom in an attempt to mitigate the spread of the pandemic. Since then, restaurants in Orange County and the rest of the state have been restricted to only being able to offer outdoor dining. But that could soon change! Ralph Brennan’s Jazz Kitchen Now, it appears that the county can reopen indoor dining at up to 25% capacity or a total of 100 people, whichever is less. Outdoor dining can also continue to be offered. Source: City of Anaheim Since Downtown Disney reopened in July, they have had to comply with the statewide mandate by only offering outdoor dining at its restaurants. While the reopening of the theme parks has been delayed until further notice, we could at least start to see more sections of the shopping and dining district of the resort reopen.
