While Downtown Disney has been open for Guests for two months, we still have no word on when Disneyland will reopen its two theme parks. No updates have been provided from Disneyland since they delayed the reopening of the parks, originally scheduled to take place on July 17. Downtown Disney District In a news conference today, California Governor Gavin Newsom commented on the ongoing progress being made in conversations with the theme park industry in the state, and noted that there are still some open-ended areas in their negotiations. Since our last major update, it seems that California as a state as well as Orange County, where Disneyland resides, are seeing a decline in positive cases. In fact, Orange County was approved today to advance from the purple tier (Widespread) to the red tier (Substantial), as part of California’s new four-tier monitoring system. Source: covid19.ca.gov This means that Orange County has shown consistent, improving data in the areas of the number of new cases per 100,000 residents and the positive test rate for two consecutive weeks. At this time, however, the state has yet to release theme park industry guidelines. This means that theme parks must remain closed until further notice, despite the county’s movement into the red tier. Source: covid19.ca.gov Other sectors of the state’s economy have begun the process of reopening, including certain indoor operations. One reporter asked, “When it comes to the reopening of indoors, is the decline in the positivity rate leaning more towards these reopenings that we’re seeing across these counties?” Disney California Adventure Park Governor Newsom replied, “It’s an iterative process and again one which we’re constantly engaged with our mind not made up, but interested in evidence, and the data bears fruit, the epi-data shows us the way and provides us the capacity to make determinations. We will make those determinations in real time.” Disneyland gate with plexiglass The Governor continued on to specifically point out the progress being made on theme parks. Newsom commented that “it includes, by the way, conversations that are ongoing, just as a reminder, for theme parks, amusement parks, and the like. There are still many areas where we are open-ended in terms of our negotiation, making progress, and advancing in the same space, getting closer to concluding when and how to safely reopen those sectors.” Sleeping Beauty Castle So for now, it sounds like the state has still not reached a definitive conclusion on when or how theme parks like Disneyland can reopen, but progress is being made and conversations are indeed advancing. As of this writing, new Disneyland Resort hotel reservations are currently available for arrivals starting October 1. Disneyland Hotel That does not mean the parks will open on October 1, but we will continue to keep a watchful eye on Disneyland and will provide updates as we learn more! Fall just might be the best season of the year for yummy flavors. Poison Candied Apple With all the pumpkin treats we’ve been trying today, you might think we’re sold on the gourd as our favorite flavor of the season. Well, we just might have another contender. The apple treats have been catching our eye just as much. Take the Not So Poison Apple Cupcake for example — delicious. And now, there’s another treat that makes us lean a liiiiittle bit over towards apple. Take a look at the positively GORGEOUS Poison Candied Apple from Trolley Car Cafe. You can snag this snack for $5.99 and NO, it’s not actually poison. Poison Candied Apple The gorgeous treat is apple and caramel mousse covered in a red glaze with a crunchy candy base. Okay, we’re intrigued. When we cut into it, it almost looked like a real apple for a second; except, you know, made of mousse. Poison Candied Apple Honestly, this treat is kind of a sleeper hit in our book. The mousse didn’t have too much apple, but the caramel flavor was just the right amount of sweetness. Plus, the crispy cereal at the bottom of the treat makes it a fun mix of textures! Be warned though, that red gets EVERYWHERE so grab some extra napkins. Poison Candied Apple See! It’s pretty hard to pick between apple and pumpkin when treats like this exist! Keep up with coverage of all the Halloween treats today and help us decide which flavor is the best of the season! Halloween snacks have rolled in Walt Disney World today! Frozen Apple Cider! So far, we hacked into Constance’s For Better or For Worse Wedding Cake, took a ride with the Headless Horseman Float, and had a monstrous Mickey Monster Mash Burger. Think we’re full yet? Guess again! While seeking out some sinister snacks at Disney’s Hollywood Studios, we decided to get the Frozen Apple Cider to wash it all down. Here’s what we thought of this spooky concoction! This devious (and delish!) drink can be ordered with or without alcohol and is found at Rosie’s All-American Café, Backlot Express, and PizzeRizzo. The non-alcoholic cider is $8.99 and the alcoholic cider with Crown Royal Apple is $18. We needed an extra kick this morning so we opted for the spiked version. (Alcoholic) Frozen Apple Cider The rim is lined with cinnamon sugar and the bottom is filled with green apple popping pearls (bobas). As for the drink itself? It’s all in the name! It’s literally a Frozen Apple Cider slushy. Although, it’s a super DELICIOUS apple cider slushy. It was incredibly refreshing and the perfect choice for a hot day like today. Frozen Apple Cider That said, we couldn’t really taste the Crown Royal Apple, so it tasted more like apple juice, rather than a cocktail. If you’re looking for a strong cocktail then you might wanna look elsewhere. Like, anywhere outside of Disney World property. (Kidding!) The upside is that both versions of the drink come with a poison apple glow cube! Hooray for free souvenirs! Frozen Apple Cider Overall, we really enjoyed this drink. It had a refreshing taste and was nice and cold. A perfect compliment to the balmy Halloween days we’re used to here in Florida. Stay tuned with us today! We’ll be eating more Halloween treats as we make our way through the parks. Check out our recent drink review of Pop’s Potion here! Are you heading to Hollywood Studios soon? Calling all fans of those wicked Disney Villains!! Disney Villains Hades Sticker We’re STILL eating our way through ALL the fun, spooky, and downright tasty Halloween treats in Magic Kingdom! Several eats inspired by those villainous ne’er-do’wells have taken over again this year. And this next one we’re sharing with you? Well, this one is a nacho nod to Hades (“Hi, howya doin’?”) of Hercules! That’s right… the Hades Nachos are BACK and can be found at Pecos Bill Tall Tale Inn & Café for $12.79. Pecos Bill Tall Tale Inn & Cafe This dish is a huge pile black bean nacho chips with “fiery” buffalo chicken, lettuce, tomato, sour cream, salsa, and jalapeño. Hades Nachos Oh. And did we also mention CHEESE?!? Hades Nachos ‘Cuz there’s LOTS of that goin’ on here, too! Of course, we love the stuff, so plenty of it means no complaints here! Hades Nachos So, yeah, this is definitely a meal more than a snack. And it’s a pretty good one, at that. These days, your extras — the lettuce, tomato, sour cream, and salsa — are served up on the side, as the Fixins Bar at Pecos Bill is currently closed. Hades Nachos (But, heads up: we once again got a full tomato — like one you would get for a burger — instead of it being diced like it was on our last visit. Ah, well.) Hades Nachos Anyhoo… the verdict is this: this is a seriously yummy, savory plate, complete with a lil’ bit of heat from the buffalo sauce. That said, we’d happily take more heat, since this dish doesn’t exactly live up to its “fiery” promise. But it’s still a tasty and unique option for the season at Pecos Bill Tall Tale Inn & Cafe, so ultimately we’re glad Hades Nachos are back! We’ve scared up LOTS of Halloween and Fall treats in Disney World, and you can see them ALL here! My friends, we’ve STILL got more autumn eatin’ to come… so stay tuned, and stay wicked! We’ve already had the Pumpkin Spice Milkshake, the Pumpkin Spice Waffle Sundae, and more. Now, we’re trying something pretty unique with the Pumpkin Cheesecake Cannoli! We spotted this ALL NEW treat in Hollywood Studios and we just had to have it. After all, it’s Pumpkin Cheesecake mixed with Hazelnut Praline Crunch in a Cannoli Shell. How could we pass that up? Pumpkin Cheesecake Cannoli Cannoli purists, look away, this one definitely won’t fit the bill. BUT it IS still delicious. The shell was crunchy and dipped in chocolate on the ends to hold the colorful crunchy bits. Honestly, these didn’t have much of a flavor to them but the crunch was nice! The filling was a perfect balance of pumpkin and cream cheese flavor. Plus, those little hazelnut praline bits in the cream are so YUMMY. We wouldn’t say this is the BEST dessert ever, but it is a tasty and simple way to get your pumpkin fix, so we’re big fans. It’s only September, but Christmas in Disney World is already on our minds. Christmas At Magic Kingdom 2019 We were checking out the Halloween treats around the parks today when we were suddenly bombarded by Christmas news — but we’re not complaining! We’ve got special holiday character dining and a beloved EPCOT festival to look forward to, but now let’s take a look at ALL of the holiday entertainment coming to Disney World this year! Christmas officially hits Walt Disney World on November 6th and will stick around through December 30th. You can bet that during that time we’ll be seeing holiday decor, eating holiday treats, and buying holiday merch. But let’s talk about entertainment! For one, Santa Claus WILL be making pop-up, distanced appearances in all four parks AND in Disney Springs! Santa and Mrs. Claus in Epcot’s American Adventure Pavilion Cinderella Castle will also be getting a new festive look. This year, the usual Castle Dream Lights will be replaced with special projection effects to make the castle look like a whimsical Christmas sweater, a decorative piece with Christmas-y ornamentation, and MORE. You can get a preview in this video! This holiday season will also bring a makeover to the new character offerings in the parks. Animal Kingdom will see festive flotillas, EPCOT will have holiday promenades, Hollywood Studios will have merry motorcades, and the character cavalcades in Magic Kingdom will have a holiday twist too. Get ready to see Gingerbread Men, Elves, Reindeer, AND the Toy Soldiers (these guys will march alongside Main Street Philharmonic)! Toy Soldiers During the Once Upon a Christmastime Parade Of course, the EPCOT International Festival of the Holidays is returning as well and with it comes some entertainment. You’ll be able to catch JOYFUL! belting out a variety of Christmas tunes in the World ShowPlace and the Voices of Liberty will be weaving harmonious carols over at the America Gardens Theatre stage during the festival. Do note that EPCOT’s annual Candlelight Processional has been canceled this year. JOYFUL! There’s even some entertainment OUT of the parks. Though the Christmas Tree Trail won’t be put together in all of its glory in Disney Springs, guests will be able to find the elaborately-decorated trees scattered throughout the complex. Plus, Town Center, West Side, and The Landing will all see SNOWFALLS periodically too! Christmas Tree Trail So, ya see, there’s LOTS to look forward to this holiday season, even without Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party. Stay tuned for more updates! Disney just recently announced that Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party in Magic Kingdom and this year’s Candlelight Processional in EPCOT will be canceled. Disney Springs Christmas Tree Trail But, some holiday events, like the International Festival of the Holidays in EPCOT, will still be offered this year. Now, we’ve got some more details about what holiday decorations and special offerings you’ll be able to find this year in Disney Springs. In previous years, we’ve seen some special holiday offerings over in Disney Springs — like the Christmas Tree Trail, which featured dozens of trees themed to all kinds of Disney movies and more! Christmas Tree Trail 2019 We saw some seriously incredible trees last year. This one even had a monorail around it! Christmas Tree Trail We also tried some special treats and found some adorable mugs on the Tree Trail. Snowman Mug Disney has confirmed this year that the “elaborately-decorated Disney Christmas trees” will be back, except they’ve noted that they will be “spread throughout this retail, dining and entertainment destination.” We don’t know all of the details yet, but, based on that statement, it sounds like the trees will be spread throughout various parts of Disney Springs, rather than confined to the singular trail that we saw in years past. Christmas Tree Trail The Christmas Tree Trail could get rather busy and the pathways were a bit more narrow, so we could see why it would be a bit more difficult to organize it in such a way that would maintain social distancing. We actually like the idea of being able to enjoy these trees throughout more of Disney Springs. Ideally it will help to maintain social distancing between guests and it can become a bit like a scavenger hunt to find all of the speciality trees. Christmas Tree Trail Disney has also stated that “in the evening, guests visiting areas within Town Center, West Side and The Landing will encounter a magical snowfall, adding an extra touch of wonder to their holiday shopping.” Snoap? Our good friend? Is it you? Christmas Tree Trail Previously, it would “snow” in the Tree Trail area, but it sounds like that is going to be expanded this year to other areas in Disney Springs. We can’t wait to have a little snow party in the 80 degree Florida “winter.” Christmas Tree Trail 2017 In addition, Disney has announced that Jock Lindsey’s Hangar Bar will again be transformed into Jock Lindsey’s Holiday Bar with “delightful holiday décor and a delicious limited-time menu filled with festive favorites.” Holiday Decor in Jock Lindsey’s Last year, we tried some YUMMY items from the holiday menu at Jock Lindsey’s, so we’re excited to see what comes back, and what, if any, new items get added. Halloween may not be over yet, but Christmas news has been coming in hot! We’ll keep an eye out for any other special holiday announcements related to Disney Springs, and we’ll let you know what we find. Cinderella Castle will look totally different this Christmas! Everything’s coming up PUMPKINS at Disney World lately! Top of Pumpkin Spice Milk Shake We’ve already indulged in the Pumpkin Spice Milkshake and the Pumpkin Spice Waffle Sundae (and of course, we’ve rinsed just about everything down these days with our beloved Pumpkin Spice Latte from Starbucks). Today, we stopped by Rosie’s All-American Cafe in Disney’s Hollywood Studios for some pumpkin-flavored tiramisu! If you’ve ever wanted to essentially EAT a Pumpkin Spice Latte, the Pumpkin Bread Tiramisu is the dessert for you! Pumpkin Bread Tiramisu We found that the more we ate this treat, the more we loved it. Pumpkin mega-fans might wish for a stronger flavor, but the espresso on top offers a really nice balance and cuts down on the sweetness. Pumpkin Bread Tiramisu Given ALL of the fall treats we’ve tried in the last few days, we’ll admit this isn’t the most exciting pumpkin dish in the world. However, it’s yummy, creamy, and not overly sweet — which is a pleasant change from some of the other pumpkin treats we’ve tried this year. Pumpkin Bread Tiramisu If there was ever a dessert that could be considered a Pumpkin Spice Latte in food form, this may be it! Grab yourself a slice of Pumpkin Bread Tiramisu this fall at Rosie’s All-American Cafe for $4.99! Click here to check out this SCAR-Y cupcake we found in Disney World! It may be a world of pumpkins and spice in Disney World right now (or still near 100 degrees!) but it’s time to start thinking about the Christmas season. Gingerbread Castle Disney just dropped a BOMBSHELL on everyone with details of what is — and more importantly ISN’T — going to be included in this year’s festivities at Disney World. We’ve now learned a long-time fan-favorite tradition won’t be making the cut this year. There won’t be as much of the sweet scent of gingerbread in the air in Disney World as we’re used to this Holiday Season. Disney has announced that their beloved gingerbread displays at various hotels around Disney World will NOT be on display this year. Grand Floridian Gingerbread House. Resist the Urge to Eat It! We typically can expect to see elaborate gingerbread displays like the MASSIVE house in the lobby of Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort and Spa or the gorgeous carousel in the lobby of Disney’s Beach Club Resort but it appears this year, due to social distancing guidelines, Disney has opted to forgo the elaborate displays. Holiday fun WILL still be available, though modified to fit new guidelines. Resorts will still be decorated with trees and other decor, special holiday cavalcades will be present in the parks, Festival of the Holidays at EPCOT will be returning, and more.
