Annual Passholders, this summer just got a whole lot sweeter. Cute new button! Disney World officially kicked off V.I.PASSHOLDER Summer Days on May 1st, and EPCOT is absolutely stacked with goodies running all the way through July 31st. From free snacks to exclusive meet-and-greets to some seriously tempting dining discounts, there’s a lot to unpack. Here’s everything Annual Passholders need to know before their next EPCOT visit. The Annual Passholder Lounge Is Back The beloved Annual Passholder Lounge has returned to EPCOT, and it’s honestly one of the best perks on the list. The Passholder lounge is back open! Stop in to pick up an exclusive Passholder button featuring Mickey Mouse rocking a pair of adorable sunglasses, then cool off with complimentary ice-cold water or mint tea. There are also free snacks on hand, including Rold Gold Pretzels and a nut-free trail mix, making it a solid midday pitstop when the Florida heat is doing its thing. An Exclusive Cake Pop at Karamell-Küche If you’ve ever needed an excuse to swing by Karamell-Küche, this is it. Exclusive snack! There’s a new Annual Passholder-exclusive cake pop featuring a chocolate base dipped in dark chocolate, drizzled with Werther’s Original Caramel, and finished with yellow sprinkles. The result is something that tastes less like a cake pop and more like a fancy chocolate truffle, and the caramel sweetness plays perfectly against that rich dark chocolate. Treat yourself. An Exclusive Character Meet-and-Greet This one’s genuinely exciting. There’s a rotating character meet-and-greet happening daily from 10 AM to 6 PM at the Disney & Pixar Short Film Festival building, and you’ll need your Annual Pass to get in line. The characters have been mixing it up, so you never quite know who you’ll get. Chip ‘n’ Dale! One recent visit brought out Chip ‘n’ Dale, but again, they’ll probably vary what characters will appear here, so you’ll want to check back often to see who’s meeting. Exclusive Passholder Merchandise at Creations Shop The Creations Shop in EPCOT is your first stop for the V.I.PASSHOLDER Summer Days merch collection. The lineup includes a zip-up hoodie, an adult tee, a Loungefly crossbody bag, a baseball hat, and a Corkcicle canteen. This bag! The best part? You can use your 20% Passholder discount on all of it. The collection will be available while supplies last, so you’ll want to hurry on over to Creations Shop to check it out. A Brand-New Passholder Popcorn Bucket This year’s exclusive Annual Passholder Popcorn Bucket features all four Walt Disney World theme parks alongside a lineup of beloved Passholder magnet characters. Disney World Annual Passholder Popcorn Bucket You can grab one at the Popcorn Cart in World Celebration near Creations Shop, among several other locations across property. It’s the kind of collectible that sells out fast, so don’t sleep on it. The Newest Passholder Magnet Every Passholder season brings a new collectible magnet, and this summer’s is a Toy Story-themed design featuring Woody and Buzz. New Annual Passholder Magnet It’s available exclusively at the Creations Shop in EPCOT from May 1st through July 31st, 2026, or while supplies last. These tend to go quickly, so grab it early in your trip. Boosted Dining Discounts at EPCOT Restaurants Here’s where things get really good. From Monday through Thursday, Passholders can score 40% off food and non-alcoholic beverages at three EPCOT dining spots: Biergarten Restaurant at lunch, Coral Reef Restaurant at dinner, and Garden Grill Restaurant for both lunch and dinner. The discount applies to up to three guests in your party, including non-Passholders, so bring your friends. Just note that the discount can’t be combined with other offers and doesn’t apply to dining packages. Garden Grill V.I.PASSHOLDER Summer Days is shaping up to be one of the stronger Passholder programs Disney World has rolled out in a while, and EPCOT is clearly the place to be this summer. If you notice something different on your next trip to Magic Kingdom, chances are it’s probably Cinderella Castle. Cinderella Castle Disney has been hard at work painting this iconic part of the park, and the work still isn’t done! So far, we’ve seen the castle be transformed from pink and gold back to its original blues and greys, and we must say, it feels great to see Cinderella Castle back in all her original glory — even if the transformation isn’t totally complete yet! We’ve been keeping up with all the changes at Cinderella Castle in Magic Kingdom, and slowly but surely, the castle is starting to look even more like its original self. No traces of pink are left; instead, we’re met with the cool blues and greys that have graced the castle’s exterior since it was first built in 1971. Cinderella Castle We do love that so far, it looks like Disney might be keeping some of the gold accent and trim work that was part of the 50th Anniversary castle design, as it makes everything look just a bit more regal. Whether or not the gold sticks around remains to be seen, as Disney could easily just be saving that part for last. Cinderella Castle The blues on the “shingled” roofs have been repainted, as they now give off a bright pop of color. The blues and golds work so well together, along with the grey of the castle’s “stone” exterior. The light blue hatchmark and zig-zag designs on the roofs are also such a fun, whimsical touch. While those aren’t necessarily new additions, we’re glad to see that they’re sticking around. Cinderella Castle Down on the ground, the moat is still drained, and it doesn’t look like this part of the project will be done anytime soon, though ultimately, it’s hard to tell. There are still lots of scaffolding and tarps strewn about, so it’s unlikely that we’ll see the moat refilled anytime soon — though we can dream! They do say a dream is a wish your heart makes, so consider this our heartfelt plea. Moat still drained We also spotted some additional painting being done at the bottom of the castle. What was once a light grey or white is currently being painted dark grey, which will no doubt add some moodiness to the overall vibes of the castle and moat area. Maybe Disney is trying to get us used to the dark vibes we’ll be getting once Villains Land finally opens. Who knows?! One thing is for sure: we can’t wait until this transformation is finally complete. Luckily, it does seem like a majority of the work has been completed, so we might be in the home stretch now. Painting We’ll be on the lookout for more Cinderella Castle updates and the latest news from Disney World and beyond. Magic Kingdom is changing constantly these days. Big Thunder Mountain is finally reopened, and Buzz Lightyear is once again saving the galaxy. Cinderella Castle In Frontierland, its construction walls as far as the eye can see! Based on what we’re seeing, more might be headed our way because a new closure has arrived. Goodbye, goodbye, goodbye! You were bigger than the whole sky, Big Al’s. The merchandise stand in Frontierland has officially closed. The closure has been expected for some time, but hours for the stand confirmed it would be closed starting on May 11th. ©Disney Disney never formally confirmed this location was closing, or if this is a permanent closure, but we have a hunch it won’t be returning. As we were searching for more information on Disney’s website, it turns out that “someone at the page” for Big Al’s. This means it has been removed from the website. ©Disney Does this mean the closure is permanent? We have a feeling it does. That being said, Disney hasn’t confirmed it formally. The stand could be in the process of being moved, or Disney could be changing its name to fit in more with the upcoming Piston Peak land. Piston Peak Construction That being said, in the concept art for the upcoming land, both Big Al’s and Westward Ho are notably missing. Upon further investigation, we also noticed that Westward Ho doesn’t have hours listed as of June 22nd, which could mean it will also permanently close. (Don’t worry, the Candied Bacon Skewer already has a new home at Golden Oak Outpost). ©Disney During our stop in the park today, May 11th, we confirmed the merchandise stand is covered up. We even spotted an IT Cast Member carting away the cash register and POS system. This makes us feel even more strongly that Big Al’s is closed for good. RIP Big Al’s! Piston Peak is the park’s upcoming Cars-inspired land. Disney has yet to reveal an opening date or timeline for this new area, but construction is well underway! This area is replacing Tom Sawyer Island and the Rivers of America, which closed in July 2025. Piston Peak Construction While we’re sad to lose even more classic pieces of Frontierland, we are excited for what this could mean for the future of the new land and Magic Kingdom. As always, be sure to keep following DisneyFoodBlog for more Disney news, updates, and more. There are few more nightmarish scenarios for a Walt Disney World vacation than dealing with food poisoning… trust us, we know. Magic Kingdom’s Cinderella Castle However, if you find yourself in this spot, there are things you NEED to know that’ll help you get healthy AND maybe even salvage a portion of your vacation Always Pack Anti-Nausea Medication and Hydration Packets So, before we get into actually feeling sick, a couple of pre-trip packing tips: Always bring anti-nausea medication. Whether it’s due to a meal not agreeing with you or motion sickness from some of the resort’s wilder attractions, it’s wise to have something to settle your stomach packed in your park bag. Hydration packets like Liquid IV or Gatorade’s powders are another smart item to pack in case of stomach issues or just staying hydrated in the Florida heat. ©Amazon Be Wary of Leftovers So, moving on, once you’ve arrived at the resort, a quick word of warning about leftovers. While it can be tempting to bring home leftover food from a meal at one of Disney World’s restaurants, bear in mind that the majority of hotel rooms in Disney hotels don’t feature refrigerators. Instead, they’re home to beverage coolers, which are cool enough for drinks, but not cold enough to safely store items like medications, breastmilk, formula, and – importantly for this case – refrigerated food items, which will spoil. Beverage cooler Head to First Aid If you start feeling symptoms of food poisoning or stomach sickness while you’re in one of Disney World’s theme parks, make your way to that respective park’s first aid center ASAP. Magic Kingdom First Aid Let It Out If you find yourself in your hotel room feeling symptoms of food poisoning, you may need to… well… let it out as it were. Not to be gross, but expelling the vomit may be the first major step to feeling better. Instacart Convenience If you find yourself room-ridden with food poisoning symptoms and need to order some supplies – like more medicine or hydration packs – through a service like Instacart, the front desk will deliver it to your room for you for $6. ©Instacart REST! Speaking of being room-ridden, it can be very tempting to try to push yourself to head back into the parks to not “waste” your expensive vacation. However, the reality is your body needs a day of rest. Stay in bed, sleep as much as you can, and stay hydrated (if you find yourself unable to hold down liquids, try sucking on ice cubes). Disney’s Port Orleans — Riverside Resort Seek Medical Attention If You need If your symptoms extend into a second day, be wary that it may be a contagious norovirus, and seek medical help ASAP. Don’t Push Yourself When You’re Back on Your Feet If you do find yourself feeling better by the next day, it’s important to still be aware of your body and ease back into your vacation. In other words, maybe don’t push a rope drop to fireworks day. And then there’s the question of diet… Maybe avoid rope drop if you’re not feeling well… Eat on the BRAT As you’re recovering, you’d be well advised to stick to a mostly BRAT (Bananas, Rice, Applesauce, and Toast) diet while staying hydrated and definitely avoiding alcohol for at least a few days. Served with a side of white rice Laundry Once again, not to be gross, but if you have some clothing or other materials that have been in any way soiled to the point that you don’t want to pack them in your suitcase for the voyage home, Disney World’s hotels offer self-service laundry facilities, usually near the pool area. Art of Animation laundry If you find yourself struck down with food poisoning on your next Disney World trip, keep these things in mind as you’re dealing with the symptoms. If you’re the kind of person who wants to celebrate that spooky Halloween spirit year-round, you don’t have to wait until Halloween Horror Nights in Universal’s parks. Instead, you can go to Las Vegas and visit Universal’s Horror Unleashed year-round to have your pants scared off! Universal Horror Unleashed Now, we had a chance to check out Horror Unleashed, and it’s pretty scary, even scarier than Halloween Horror Nights. Well, now, there’s a new reason to visit Horror Unleashed because Universal just revealed a Food, Film, Frights dinner series that will be happening THIS MONTH. Universal just teased a new event called “Food, Film, Frights,” a new four-course prix fixe dinner and horror movie event that is happening on select Saturday and Sunday nights in May. It will take place inside Premiere House, a Blumhouse-themed restaurant inside Horror Unleashed. ©Universal The event will include a surprise horror movie screening, a four-course dinner, limited-time cocktails, and more. If you’re interested in booking the dinner, you’ll want to do so here. Reservations are highly encouraged, so be sure to jump on that ASAP if you’re interested. Horror Unleashed So here’s the deal…Universal hasn’t released any more details about this event, except that it’s happening. So we have no idea what the menu will be or what horror movie will be screened, which is probably why it’s called a “surprise.” Whatever the case, though, if you like eating a good meal while being scared, here’s your chance. We’ll keep an eye out for more Universal news, so stay tuned to DFB for more. Forget Halloween Horror Nights. We love heading to Disney Springs for a quick snack when we’re not feeling a busy theme park. Strawberry Dubai Chocolate Churro And while we love Disney, one dessert is a close second – Dubai Chocolate! So when we saw there was a new Dubai Chocolate Churro at Disney Springs, we had to try it! The Strawberry Dubai Chocolate Churro is $7.99 at Sunshine Churros. It’s a warm churro rolled in strawberry sugar that’s drizzled with chocolate sauce and pistachio cream, then topped with kataifi. This limited-time churro is the Flavor of the Month for May, which means its last day is May 31st. Strawberry Dubai Chocolate Churro The churro itself was pretty dry, and while it was crunchy, we felt it was more on the stale side. However, the strawberry sugar was the star of the show – it was strong, fruity, and sweet. The chocolate drizzle added some sweetness, but the pistachio drizzle was very faint. We didn’t get much pistachio flavor, just a small nutty aftertaste. The kataifi typically adds the crunch in Dubai Chocolate, but ours got soggy from all the sauces. Strawberry Dubai Chocolate Churro If you’re a die-hard Dubai Chocolate fan, then this probably isn’t the churro for you! The flavor profile is mostly strawberry and chocolate, which made this churro taste a lot like a chocolate-covered strawberry with a little salt on top. We barely got any pistachio taste, and the katiaifi was underwhelming. However, if you’re a chocolate-covered strawberry fan, then this churro is perfect for you! Chocolate-Covered Strawberry at Disney’s BoardWalk The Strawberry Dubai Chocolate Churro is $7.99 at Sunshine Churros. This churro cart has two locations at Disney Springs: one in the Marketplace and another on the West Side. No matter which one you visit, you’ll find a variety of Churros in specialty flavors such as watermelon, Fruity Pebbles, and more, in addition to the traditional cinnamon! Our favorites are the permanent Oreo Cheesecake Churro, Fruity Pebble Churro, and Strawberry Cheesecake. Oreo Cheesecake Churro While this churro wasn’t what we expected, it was a unique dessert. After staying at Disney’s Yacht Club Resort, we’ll admit that we were SPOILED when it came to options for dining. Not only do you have all the restaurants and lounges available at the resort itself, but you also have the WHOLE of restaurants nearby at other EPCOT-area resorts within walking distance. The Crew’s Cup Lounge However, one of our favorite spots to grab a quick bite to eat without needing a reservation is The Crew’s Cup Lounge, which you’ll find right next to Yachstman Steakhouse. Now, this lounge has been closed since February for a refresh and was supposed to be closed until June 1st. However, the lounge has officially reopened early! So what tipped us off about The Crew’s Cup Lounge reopening is that we noticed the restaurant had hours listed on the Disney World website from 4 PM to 11 PM. So we decided to drop by the lounge and see if it was open for ourselves. And it was! It’s open! We’ve also got some great news. Although the lounge got a refresh, the menu hasn’t changed much. You can still get that delicious Yachtsman Signature Bread Service here, as well as Prime Rib Sliders (Oh, YEAH), a few salads, Lobster Bisque, and more. Menu Of course, this IS a lounge, too, so you’ll also be able to order a few non-alcoholic specialty drinks, as well as special cocktails, beer, cider, and wine. Drinks menu So here’s the thing, although Disney closed the lounge for a “refresh,” we really didn’t notice that much had changed. The exterior and interior look about the same as before the lounge closed. It looks the same We’ve always loved The Crew’s Cup Lounge because it’s a great place to grab some food if you don’t want to make a reservation at Yachtsman Steakhouse. We’ll be back soon with a full review of The Crew’s Cup Lounge, so stay tuned to DFB for more. Only 5 of Disney World’s Top 20 Restaurants Are in EPCOT…So Where Are the Rest? Don’t you love it when Disney restaurants have specialty items every month! Disney’s Grand Californian There’s a dining spot at Disney’s Grand Californian Resort and Spa at the Disneyland Resort that we love to check out every month. Why? Well, the restaurant has something called “Hot Dog of the Month“, and we needed to check out what May has in store! We recently went to the Craftsman Grill at Disney’s Grand Californian to check out what May’s “Hot Dog of the Month” was, and it looked delicious! Craftsman Grill The hot dog is called the Quesa-Birria Dog, and you can grab it during the month of May for $17.00. It’s an all-beef hot dog, with slow-braised beef Birria, Chipotle aioli, cilantro, onion, cotija cheese, Fresno peppers, served on a cheese-crusted brioche bun. It also comes with a side of ancho Chili consume. Hot Dog of the Month We’re just going to say it…this might be the BEST hot dog Craftsman Grill has ever put out! The flavors are absolutely incredible. The consume is perfection and has just the right amount of heat. If you are sensitive to spice, beware, because it is a bit on the spicier side. Quesa-Birria Dog The hot dog is a hot link, so that also gives a bit of heat, and the Birria is cooked beautifully. There is a delicious aioli on top that offers a tang that is a perfect addition. The portion for the price is great, and we highly recommend it! It’s a perfect 5/5, but beware, the jalapeños are not mild. This was amazing! Technology in theme parks is a beautiful thing, and like Disney, Universal keeps pushing the boundaries of what’s possible. From the incredible animatronics created for Monsters Unchained in Epic Universe’s Dark Universe to being able to literally pet Toothless IN PERSON in How To Train Your Dragon: Isle of Berk, great technological ideas have made these things happen. Mine-Cart Madness Well, Universal continues to come up with new ideas on how to use technology in theme parks. And we can get an idea of what kind of technology Universal might be working on just by looking at patents the company has filed. Well, a new patent hints at a type of ride that could include an animal crawling around on it. Universal has filed a new patent for “System and Method for an On-Board Animated Figure in a Ride Environment,” and it looks like Universal has figured out a way to have an animatronic move around a ride vehicle. In the example given in the patent, a frog is shown to move from underneath the ride vehicle to the front of it. ©United States Patent and Trademark Office The patent reads: “An amusement attraction includes a ride vehicle or show action equipment and an animated figure configured to move along a surface of the ride vehicle or the show action equipment.” The patent says that the animated figure has at least three points of contact that would engage with the vehicle, and those would be used to move it across the vehicle. ©United States Patent and Trademark Office So, let’s say you were riding an attraction with this technology. That could mean that while you’re riding along, a giant frog or other animal appears from under the vehicle and then crawls onto the car until it’s right in front of you. It doesn’t seem like a super complicated effect, but you’d be amazed at all the technical jargon the patent mentions including the use of magnets or vacuum pumps to make it all happen. Imagine a frog climbing onto Yoshi! Of course, as is the case with many patents, this doesn’t necessarily mean that Universal is working on such a ride, but it is a good indication of the kinds of ideas Universal’s engineering team is coming up with to make the theme parks even better. We’ll keep an eye out for more theme park news, so stay tuned to DFB for more. If you’re getting ready to set sail with Disney Cruise Line, you need to know these things first! Disney Adventure There are a lot of changes coming to the Disney Cruise Line. New ships are being added to the fleet (what feels like monthly)! That’s why I’m sharing the six things I wish you knew before heading on board the Disney Cruise Line! Know the Navigator App When it comes to going on a Disney Cruise, there are SO many things you might not know, whether this is your first trip or your 100th. That’s why I’m sharing the things I think you absolutely need to know before hopping on board, starting off with the Disney Cruise Line Navigator App! ©Apple Store The main thing to know is you need that the Navigator app needs to be downloaded before you ever set foot on the boat! Once you are at the port, when you are close enough to the ship, you should be able to connect to the ship’s WiFi. When you are connected, that is when you will be able to see some very important information about your cruise. ©Disney Cruise Line This app is home to everything you’ll need on your cruise. You can check in with it, book reservations and excursions, you’ll find show times and character sightings, and so much more. It also shows you your rotational dining schedule, what your table number is, guest relations chat, and even a way to communicate with members of your party. Having the app ready to go before you set sail sets you up for success when it comes to booking extras on board and being prepared so you can fully enjoy the vacation without being lost. On the Disney Adventure There’s A Lot You Won’t Know in Advance If you’re a planner like me, this might drive you crazy. When you’re going to a Disney Park, you’re able to plan ahead your dining reservations, Lightning Lanes, see show times, etc — but on a Disney Cruise, there is very little information you’ll be able to know in advance. Castaway Cay On every Disney Cruise, you’ll experience rotational dining. It means each night you’ll have dinner at a different restaurant on board. On longer cruises, you might dine at a restaurant twice, but the menu will be different. There are two different dinner times when it comes to rotational dining — the early seating and the late seating. You won’t know what your schedule is before hopping on board, which can impact the plans you make. Worlds of Marvel In addition to rotational dining, there are adult-only dining options on board that you can book for an additional fee. We love this for an upgrade on our cruises, but it does often mean missing out on some of the rotational dining options during dinner. In the past, we’ve missed out on rotational dining options we were looking forward to because we mistakenly booked our adult-only dining options on those nights, because we didn’t have the rotational dining schedule. If the schedule really impacts you, you can always talk with guest relations once you’re on board to switch times. Disney Destiny Oceanview with Verandah Stateroom You also won’t know what time the shows are, what characters will be available for meeting, or when you can meet them. It is a very different feeling from preparing for a Disney World trip, but think of this as a positive thing! A Disney Cruise gives you a chance to relax on the planning. Cheers! There are Adult-Only Areas As mentioned above, there are adult-only dining options that you can book in advance. These are an additional cost to guests, but they can be a great way to celebrate something special. These are also hard to get a reservation for, but we’ll cover that in a minute. Palo There is an adult-only pool area for adults who are looking to get away from the noise. You can also visit the spa on board the ship for some relaxation. Some lounges also turn into adult-only spaces after a certain time. Adult-only pool The Entire Check-In Process Another thing to know before you even hop on board is that the check-in process can either make your life easier or harder! The check-in process begins 30 days before your cruise, and once you’ve paid for your trip in full. During this process, you’ll provide citizenship documents, register your kids for the youth clubs, and select your port of arrival time. During the process, you’ll have to fill out 6 different pages of information. (Don’t worry, it’s really not that long!) Guest Information Onboard Account Traveling with Children Travel Plans Port Arrival Time Cruise Contract Boarding the Disney Treasure Being thorough during this process can make your life so much easier. Grabbing the earliest port time is also a great way to kick your vacation off as early as possible! It can make life lovely and easy before you hop on board. Our team has also had experiences where the check-in process made life a bit more difficult. We can’t wait to board! During part of your check-in process, you will need to submit a photo for Disney to approve that will be used by Cast Members throughout your trip (specifically when getting on and off the ship). This is where things can get tedious because Disney has rejected our submitted photos on a few occasions. Checking in one more time There are a few stipulations for your photo, and Disney is strict about approval, so I highly recommend doing your check-in process as early as possible so you don’t have to stress about approval close to your cruise or even when you’re trying to hop on board. Boarding the Disney Wish It’s Impossible to do EVERYTHING Another thing you need to know is that the boats are not designed for you to be able to do everything! There are tons of characters, entertainment, activities, and more when you’re on board a Disney cruise. We’ve been on our fair share of them, and it truly takes a team to do everything on the ships during one vacation. Disney Adventure For example, lots of characters will have meet and greet times that overlap, so it’s not always possible to say hi to them all. That might sound crazy, but Disney does this on purpose! It’s a great way to help crowd flow and to ensure that one section of the ship doesn’t get too crowded at once. Minnie Mouse aboard the Disney Treasure This is also why there are two dining shows and two main entertainment options per night. The boats couldn’t hold every single person on board in the restaurants or Walt Disney Theater at once, so it makes sense to have multiple options at once. If you feel like it’s impossible to do it all, it’s because it might be, depending on how long your cruise is. Disney Cruise Line Disney Cruises Aren’t JUST For Kids Finally, I want you to know that Disney Cruise Lines trips aren’t just for kids, but there are a lot of them on board! There are several adult-only spots like Palo, Enchante, Cove Pool, Cove Cafe, and more. Adult-only beach at Castaway Cay I’m a major fan of these spots, but if you think you’re going to entirely avoid kids during your cruise, that’s unrealistic. While many people love vacationing with their families and friends, some peeps are looking for adult-only vacations, and I completely understand that. Enchanté on the Disney Treasure Kids are so much fun and bring so much joy to many people, but I won’t pretend they’re always relaxed or quiet (which is sometimes needed). Although Disney does provide adult-only spaces, during many of the dining options, entertainment offerings, and more, you’re going to run into kiddos! If you’re looking for a totally kid-free environment, the Disney Cruise Line isn’t going to be for you. According to the park, there are scheduled to be just over 20 of them, with some of the confirmed rides including: Floresta Drop: A family-friendly thrill ride that will plunge from above on petal-topped drop towers. Vista Wheel: A take on the traditional Ferris Wheel featuring two types of cars: one that provides “a calm, scenic experience” or others that provide a thrilling experience with moving cabins. Carousel of Colors: A carousel of Alebrijes (brightly-colored Mexican folk art statues) arranged in a vibrant color wheel where guests can “choose the magical creature that speaks most to them and let their heart guide the ride.” Tempest Towers: A dual drop tower that plunges riders into “a swashbuckling adventure where the sea meets the sky!” Izari’s Flight: A magical family-friendly coaster where guests soar through a crystal cave from a “magical iguana’s point of view.” Delia’s Adventure: A whimsical ride that will tell the story of a spirited girl on a mission to save the Firefly Festival. With so much construction happening around Disney World and Disneyland Resort, not to mention what’s all happening outside of the parks like D23: The Ultimate Disney Fan Event later this year, it feels like there’s at least once a month we’re saying there’s something BIG to look out for. Why? Well, because it’s the truth! Disney California Adventure If you’re planning a trip out to California this summer to visit Disneyland, you need to know that there are lots of exciting events on the way! However, August 27th in particular will be one to look out for — here’s why! In late April, there was a State of the City Address to the City of Anaheim, and the President of Disneyland, Jill Estorino, spoke on what’s coming to Disneyland this summer season. When she was asked about her main focus in Disneyland, she mentioned it’s the leadership team, Cast Members, and the community, which helped her segue into the opportunities and experiences coming to potential guests and community members this summer. State of the City Address screenshot She then went on to mention that while they’re wrapping up the 70th Anniversary celebration, there are multiple new additions to look forward to this summer, such as the new “Bluey’s Best Day Ever!” show, the changes coming to Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run on May 22nd, and the Soarin’ Across America overlay coming on May 26th. State of the City Address screenshot That’s not all, though! Jill Estorino went on to mention how they’re “excited to bring more pixie dust back” with the Happiest Day in Anaheim event on August 27th! While we’re waiting to hear more details, we do know that the plan is to bring community activation across the entire city. State of the City Address screenshot Jill described this as special news for the 71st Anniversary of Disneyland Resort, but there’s one more surprise she announced. Anaheim residents will be able to enjoy specially priced tickets with the Anaheim Resident Ticket offer returning, with tickets starting at just $71! If you’ve ever had a long layover with kids at the Orlando International Airport, then what the airport just opened is your new favorite thing. ©Orlando International Airport Three family zones throughout the airport will open this year, and the first zone just opened last week! The Orlando International Airport just opened its Flybrary, a reading nook for children in Terminal C. The Flybrary offers a dedicated space for storytime and fun, designed to enhance the comfort and passenger experience at the busy travel hub. It’s a unique environment for traveling children and families to engage with reading and local Orlando culture while waiting for their flights. ©Orlando International Airport Design features include tree-shaped bookshelves, tree stump-shaped stools, and carpet with water and plant patterns that reference Central Florida’s landscape. The main feature of the Flybrary is a restored vintage Lake Eola swan boat. The boat is named after the iconic Billy the Swan, one of the first swans imported to Orlando at Lake Eola. Billy the Swan was famous for his aggressive, territorial behavior towards people, cars, and other swans, yet he became an early icon of Lake Eola Park and Orlando’s natural beauty. ©Orlando International Airport “As young readers travel through our airport, the Flybrary invites them to take flight with new adventures,” said Lance Lyttle, CEO of the Greater Orlando Aviation Authority. “Orlando International Airport has made Community a foundational pillar, and we believe a good community partner honors stakeholders by providing new and exciting spaces to explore and learn.” ©Orlando International Airport We’re so excited to check out the Flybrary on our next flight out of MCO.
