Ever wanted to have gorgeous photos taken of you and your significant other, your family, a close group of friends, or just yourself at some of Disney World’s most beautiful spots? Previously, the only option was the Capture Your Moment photo sessions available in the theme parks, but now there’s a NEW option that takes things to the next level. ©Disney Now, Disney World has a new offering called Signature Portrait Sessions, which are longer, private photo sessions with your own photographer, but now at select Disney World Deluxe Hotels. If you have a special event coming up soon and you know you’d like to book a session, these aren’t cheap, but they may be exactly what you’re looking for. Signature Portrait Sessions are NEW at the resort, and are described as a “private 40-minute photo session with Disney PhotoPass photographers at select Disney Resort hotels, currently available at $399.” You’ll receive all your photos from the session, and they’re all retouched as part of the price! ©Disney Currently, the only hotels offering this experience are Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort and Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa, but indoor and outdoor locations around the hotels are available. Your photographer will help provide suggestions on where to shoot and guide you around to the different spots. You’ll discuss your top spots during the booking process, so you don’t feel like you’re taking up precious time during the shoot — 4o minutes goes by fast! ©Disney You’ll also have the opportunity to use special props in your photoshoot that may not be available during other shoots in the park, such as the ones included in the Capture Your Moments sessions in the parks. If you’re interested in booking a session, you’ll want to email DisneyPortraitSessions@disney.com — keep in mind that full payment is due at the time of booking. The experience may be booked up to 60 days in advance of your trip beginning. ©Disney If you’d prefer to shoot in the parks, a Capture Your Moment session is going to be a better fit. These are 20-minute sessions that are available in each of the four parks, and you are allowed to book two sessions back-to-back for more time. However, the photos are not included in the $99 cost and must be purchased separately. ©Disney As this offering is new, it’s possible we could see changes to it pretty frequently as it finds its footing. We’ll be sure to keep you updated on all the news we hear about it, so stay tuned to DFB! Everything You Need to Know About PhotoPass in Disney World! Taking a date to Disney World? Well, first of all…LUCKY YOU! Magic Kingdom We hope you and your new boo have a spectacular time. But if you want to ensure you enjoy your day together, there are some rides you might want to avoid. Take it from us…we’ve been there, and we know what could go wrong! Astro Orbiter Okay, first off, the Astro Orbiter can be a nightmare no matter WHO you’re riding with. They say the seats are made for two, but if you put two full-grown adults in this thing, you’ll be crushing limbs and kneeing people in the ribs. It’s a barely-there fit, and it was so close and strange that I felt uncomfortable riding with my husband. Astro Orbiter Then, the ride gets going, and you add in the centrifugal force, which slings you up against the wall of the rocket. It’s not a fun time with a partner. If one of you has anything close to a fear of heights, that’ll make everything worse as well. Trust us, just avoid this one until you’re way more comfortable with each other…and comfortable with being in pain. We Need to Chat About This Uncomfortable Magic Kingdom Ride Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin & Toy Story Mania Speaking from experience, there are two rides in Disney World that can be tricky if you’re a competitive person…or if you’re traveling with a competitive person. Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin in Magic Kingdom is a blaster shooter-style attraction where you score points by aiming at Z-shaped targets throughout the ride. Vehicles allow people to ride in pairs, and it can get intense. Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin Toy Story Mania in Hollywood Studios is more of a midway-style attraction with different mini games. You and your riding partner can work together, but you’re also competing with each other to get the best score of the four-person vehicle. That one will test your teamwork AND your competitiveness! 8 Things That’ll Make Your Ride on Toy Story Mania in Disney World Mission: SPACE I’m going to warn you, this one is kinda gross. Mission: SPACE is the only attraction in Disney World to feature barf bags in the ride vehicle…and it would be suuuuuper awkward and uncomfy if you had to use those barf bags while on a date. Kinda kills the romance, ya’know? Mission: Space The ride is made to simulate a rocket launch, and it’s scarily accurate. So accurate, in fact, that quite a few people get motion sick on this attraction. It’s also fairly claustrophobic inside these ride vehicles, so it’s bad news all around. 8 Disney World Rides Experts Refuse to Go on Space Mountain Disney World’s version of Space Mountain features a ride vehicle with two rockets, each with three seats in a row. You’ll have to tuck your legs on either side of the person in front of you and stuff your park bag between your own legs. It’s not exactly easy to get in and out! Space Mountain And that’s where the problem comes in. If you’re not yet comfortable with your date seeing you struggle to get to your feet while possibly dislocating a shoulder and rolling sideways out of a roller coaster seat…then your relationship is not ready for this ride. Plus, if you tried to look cute and wear a skirt or dress, you may end up flashing everyone behind you. (Not that we know from experience or anything.) These Disney World Ride Situations Will Never Stop Being Awkward Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run Few rides get families to yell at each other as much as Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run, and if you’re taking a date with you, this could either be a very good test of their character…or the moment you break up. For those in the pilot’s seat of the ride, it’s a lot of pressure, and it’s a great chance for road rage to rear its ugly head. Galaxy’s Edge at Disney’s Hollywood Studios But those in the gunner and engineer roles can easily fall into the space of a “backseat driver,” shouting complaints at the pilots. If you find out that your date has no patience for eight-year-old kids repeatedly ramming the Millennium Falcon into walls, then it might be time to end the relationship. That’s not a good sign. This Ride Is Getting Some Major Changes — Click Here! Kali River Rapids Finally, you know we couldn’t make it through this list without mentioning the ride that is the bane of your existence if you like to dress up in the parks — Kali River Rapids. If you choose to doll yourself up all nice for a theme park date, Kali River Rapids KNOWS. You will get soaked, probably more than anyone else in your vehicle. Kali River Rapids in Disney’s Animal Kingdom In reality, this ride is just ten minutes of soggy torture. You’ll come off the ride looking like a drowned rat, and any good mood you had before the attraction will be gone in the face of wet socks. Nobody likes wet socks. So those are the rides you should probably avoid on a date in Disney World. Of course, you’re welcome to try them. Just proceed at your own risk! Don’t say we didn’t warn you. EPCOT will have so many new changes starting on May 26th. Between the brand-new Soarin’ Across America and the return of GoofyCore, there will be so many new things to do! Soarin’ Across America But while we were at EPCOT this morning, we checked our My Disney Experience app to check the wait times and found that Soarin’ Across America has opened early! When we got to the Land Pavilion, Soarin’ Across America only had a 10-minute wait! We had to run to the line, and we can confirm that the ride is now having a soft opening. The Cast Member we talked to said that while the ride is operating right now, it’s not guaranteed to be up all day, or even every day, until the official opening on the 26th. If you’ll be at EPCOT before the opening, we recommend checking your My Disney Experience app to see if it’s up! We had to get in line! Soarin’ Across America celebrates the 250th Anniversary of the U.S.! This brand-new version of Soarin’ will soar riders across both coasts of the U.S., highlighting some of the country’s iconic landscapes and cityscapes. The beginning opens with a bang – literally – with a rocket on the screen as you’re being raised into the skies, getting ready to take flight. The rocket! Soarin’ Across America features scenes from New York Harbor, the New England coastline, and Grand Canyon West. Plus, you spot some gorgeous views of Mount Rushmore, because what’s more American than that? We even flew over the Hollywood sign! And in typical Soarin’ fashion, immersive scents were throughout the ride. The Louisiana Bayou, the Great Plains, and the Hawaiian Islands are now officially the best-smelling places in the U.S.! Mount Rushmore in Soarin’ Across America Soarin’ Across America will officially open on May 26th at EPCOT. Disney hasn’t announced how long the attraction will be around for, so don’t hesitate if you want to see some great American beauty. Stay tuned to Disney Food Blog for more Disney World news! Okay, so we love Halloween in the Disney Parks, and it may be one of our favorite times of the year to visit them. Halloween Popcorn Buckets Disney World and Disneyland get decked out in decorations, and guests can grab special treats. We also love going to Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party and Oogie Boogie Bash. The best part is that we don’t have to wait until Halloween to start celebrating — the season kicks off in August. One of the parts of the holiday season is new popcorn buckets! We know that Disney fans love their popcorn buckets, and many have started collecting them. So that means August is a BIG deal for popcorn bucket fans because we usually get one (or even two) at both Disney World and Disneyland. Mickey Ghost Popcorn Bucket Last year, Disneyland got this adorable Mickey Ghost Popcorn Bucket, while Disney World got Stitch dressed up as a mummy! Stitch Mummy Popcorn Bucket There was also a Jack Skellington bucket for Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party! These popcorn buckets can and do sell out! While Disney has not announced the buckets that we could see in 2026 just yet, we can guess that both coast resorts will get new buckets coming this August. Jack Skellington Popcorn Bucket We will keep an eye out for when Disney announces what buckets we will get this year and let you know as soon as it happens! Disney’s Hollywood Studios will look totally different starting today! Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run is getting a massive upgrade with the addition of The Mandalorian and Grogu. Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run So many new themed merch items and snacks are being added to Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge, along with the new ride. And if you’ve been to Disney World when something is new, then you know what that means – crowds! When we got to Hollywood Studios, the rope drop crowds were already lined up pretty deep at the entrance to Hollywood Studios. Yep, it’s going to be a busy day. Granted, entrance crowds are almost always a thing, but we think this is a little busier than normal. Entrance crowds Needless to say, it took us a hot minute to get into the park. It’s busy Back at Galaxy’s Edge, we headed to Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run, and, let’s just say there were people…people EVERYWHERE waiting to get into the land at rope drop. Rope drop in Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge So here’s the thing. The ride’s opening was delayed at rope drop, so we had to wait about 15 minutes before it opened. When it did open, the wait time was 50 minutes. We’re guessing that’s going to go up as the day progresses. ©Disney There are some new pieces of merch in Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge, too, notably the Grogu Jetpack Sipper and BDX Droid Bucket. So we’re sure people will be trying to grab those quickly. There are also tons of new food items from the movie. You’ll want to check back with DFB soon for ALL the reviews. A new version of an old favorite is about to become a major rope drop draw at EPCOT. ©Disney Since it opened back in 2005, Soarin’ has been one of EPCOT’s most popular rides, both in its Over California and Around the World variations. However, the ride’s latest incarnation might end up being its most popular of all… and certainly its most patriotic. In early May, Disney confirmed some of the American landscapes guests will fly through on the ride, including the New England coastline, New York Harbor, the Grand Canyon, Mount Rushmore, and “so many quintessentially American settings… the autumn colors of the heartland; the beauty of our bayous; the great plains of the west; the northern wilderness; and sunlit island shores.” ©Disney According to Tom Fitzgerald, the legendary creative director and chief storytelling executive at Walt Disney Imagineering, “Each scene helps to create a portrait of what we believe makes America so special. It’s a tapestry of urban wonders, natural beauty, and iconic locations that celebrate the spirit of the nation and the 250th anniversary of the United States.” ©Disney Soarin’ Across America will also retain the late Jerry Goldsmith’s iconic theme in a new musical arrangement by Bruce Broughton. In addition, the queue will feature The Soarin’ Challenge Across America. This game, created in collaboration with National Geographic, “invites guests to discover which state is ‘Most Likely to Reach for the Stars,’ ‘Most Likely to Lend an Ear,’ and ‘Most Likely to Strike Gold.” Featuring fun facts from beloved National Geographic titles, including 50 States, 5,000 Ideas, and stunning photography from the National Geographic archives, the challenge transforms the queue at EPCOT into a celebration of American wonder.” Soarin’ Across America May 26th will see the opening of Soarin’ Across America, a new version of the iconic attraction celebrating America’s 250th birthday, which is sure to bring large crowds flocking to The Land pavilion. We’re just days away from May 26th, one of the biggest days Disney World will have seen in a LONG time! Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Starring The Muppets will open to the public, and one of Disney’s other big construction projects, The Walt Disney Studios (formerly Animation Courtyard), will also begin its phased reopening on the same date (though it’s actually opened EARLY!). Construction is moving FAST However, there’s another major construction project happening in Disney’s Hollywood Studios that won’t be open for quite some time, but that doesn’t mean we’re not keeping a close eye on all the latest updates. If you’re just as excited for the new Monsters, Inc. Land as we are, then this is one update you cannot miss! We recently stopped by Hollywood Studios to check out the construction, which you can see all the way from the parking lot! Views from the parking lot Right now, the cranes are most visible, but it’s entirely possible that when construction is complete, we’ll also get to see parts of the ride building for the biggest new attraction in the area, which will be Disney’s first-ever suspended coaster ride. It’s bound to be a pretty massive ride building, based on the concept art we’ve seen, so we’ll be keeping a close eye on it all from every angle we can. We’re hoping we’ll see parts of the ride building too! From inside the park, scaffolding and scrim are all over the former Muppet*Vision 3D show building, as well as the clock tower. When the wind blew, we could see bits and pieces of what was going on underneath it all, but for the most part, the scaffolding successfully covers the details. Lots of scaffolding and scrim! While we were there, we actively saw people working on the project, which is great to see. It’s one thing to know that Disney is working on a project, but to see workers actively ON the site? That’s extra exciting! They’re hard at work! It looked like the workers were putting up MORE scrim, which leads us to believe that something about the appearance of this building could be about to change pretty drastically, but Disney wants to keep it under wraps for now. Don’t worry, we’ll be checking back frequently to make sure we’re all up-to-date! Is MORE scrim going up? Looking for more recent Hollywood Studios news? Check out our posts below! Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run at both Hollywood Studios and Disneyland is getting some major upgrades starting today. The ride will get multiple new destinations inspired by classic Star Wars films and the brand-new The Mandalorian & Grogu movie! Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run In the updated version of the ride, you’ll tag along with Mando and Grogu for their bounty hunt, and for the first time ever, you can choose where you go. In this new version of the ride, you join Hondo to smuggle some cargo when it turns out that The Mandalorian and Grogu need our help! You’ll go on a bounty hunt with the duo to catch a bounty target – you can track down an imperial officer or a pirate, and they’re all on Tatooine together. Once you get to Tatooine, they split up and start flying in different directions. The engineer shoots homing signals on them, and you can tell where they’re headed. Tatooine In this new version, the right engineer can pick the location your group goes to! One imperial soldier is headed to Coruscant, the second imperial soldier is going to Bespin, and the pirate visits the Death Star wreckage. The engineer gets to choose which bounty to follow, and that’s what determines which mission you go on! Coruscant Now, instead of learning the ropes from Hondo, The Mandalorian and Grogu will accompany you on the ride! They’ll help you out for the whole bounty hunt, and there’s even a screen beside the engineers where you can see Grogu the whole time. Once the mission is complete, Mando and Grogu exit their ship and thank you for your help with the bounties! We have to help them on their bounty hunt! This new ride overlay was such a fun change. You’ll still need to take the Wildlife Express Train out to that section of the park, and when you get there, you’ll see Bluey and Bingo, you’ll get to play games from the hit show, and you’ll be able to spot animals native to Australia. Sounds like a blast! Bluey dancing in the crowd! We have a feeling their attraction is going to be wildly popular, so expect long waits. Hugs from Bingo Then our favorite Toy Story characters made an appearance! Woody, Jessie, and their friends did a line dance led by the toys. Oh, and they are already sporting the new Toy Story 5 look! Hey, pals! If that wasn’t enough, they also sang “You’ve Got a Friend in Me.” OBSESSED. THIS IS NOT A DRILL. Churro Mickey waffles! Churro Mickey waffles, one of Disney’s most beloved — and elusive — breakfast foods have finally arrived at another location in Disney World. Of course, we HAD to stop by and try them to bring you the full review, and you guys are going to want to buckle up for this one. Mickey-shaped Churro Waffles have recently arrived on the breakfast menu at Spyglass Grill at Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort. You can now order them as a breakfast entree for $11.49. So what’s so special about this treat? Well, these churro waffles are famous on Disney Cruise Line as a must-have breakfast buffet item, and the ONLY other place you can find them in Disney World is at Crystal Palace in Magic Kingdom. And Crystal Palace? It’s a sit-down character meal that usually requires a reservation, plus it’s $54 per adult. Not exactly the easiest meal to squeeze into your trip, particularly if you’re on a budget. The spread! But now, you can get those same yummy waffles at a hotel with NO park ticket or dining reservation necessary! With your order, you’ll get three Mickey-shaped waffles with the churro coating, as well as bacon and sausage. We were pretty pleased with the portion size here! And boy did they look and SMELL delicious. BEAUTIFUL In fact, they were just like we remember! The exterior coating is sugary with a hint of cinnamon, and it makes for a crisp outer edge to the waffle. The inside is nice and fluffy, and when you eat them warm, they’re absolutely incredible. The sugar crackles a bit when you bite in, and you don’t even really need the syrup because these are so sweet. SO GOOD The bacon and sausage were a great balance to the sweetness of the waffles — we all need a little protein in our day, especially when you’re enjoying sugary treats around Disney World. This was definitely worth the price and a wonderful hidden gem at a not very popular spot. Oh churro waffles, how we yearn for you! We need to talk about a very specific kind of Disney souvenir: the kind that does not require shelf space, does not get crushed in your suitcase, and will not make TSA pause dramatically while holding up your bag. ©Amazon We’re talking about Disney audiobooks. Yes, the Disney Adult pipeline eventually comes for all of us. First, you learn how to mobile order before the lunch rush. Then you develop opinions about hotel lobbies. Then one day, you are voluntarily listening to a book about Disney leadership, Imagineering philosophy, or the engineering challenges behind EPCOT while driving to Target. DISCLOSURE: This post may contain affiliate links, meaning when you click the links and make a purchase, we receive a commission. These Audible finds are perfect for the Disney fan who wants to go a little deeper than “that ride is fun.” These are for the people who want to know why the ride is fun, who built it, what almost went wrong, and how Disney became the cultural beast that still has us planning vacations around snack booths and nighttime spectaculars. So no, we are not gatekeeping these anymore. If you have an Audible credit burning a hole in your account, these Disney books are worth a look. The Ride of a Lifetime: Lessons Learned from 15 Years as CEO of the Walt Disney Company If you have ever wanted to peek behind the curtain of modern Disney without actually having to attend a board meeting, this is the one. Robert Iger’s The Ride of a Lifetime is part memoir, part leadership book, and part “so THAT’S how that happened” Disney history lesson. It covers Iger’s time leading The Walt Disney Company through some enormous chapters, including major acquisitions, company shifts, creative risks, and the kind of high-stakes decisions that make your own inbox look mercifully tame. ©Amazon This is a great audiobook for Disney fans who love the business side of the company. Maybe you’re the person who reads earnings reports for fun. Maybe you hear the word “synergy” and only flinch a little. Maybe you just want to better understand how Disney became the entertainment giant it is today. Either way, this one has the rare ability to make corporate strategy feel surprisingly listenable. It is not exactly a churro-and-fireworks kind of Disney book, but it scratches a different itch. It’s more “coffee, notebook, and suddenly I have thoughts about leadership.” And because it’s an audiobook, you can listen while commuting, cleaning, walking, packing for Disney World, or pretending your laundry-folding session is a personal development retreat. view ON AMAZON Disney Adults: Exploring (And Falling In Love With) A Magical Subculture Now THIS one is for the people who have ever had to explain why they are going back to Disney World again. Disney Adults dives into the fan culture, community, emotion, weirdness, joy, and occasional internet discourse surrounding grown-up Disney fans. You know, the people who can tell you which EPCOT festival booth had the best snack three years ago but cannot remember where they put their car keys. This audiobook is especially fun because it does not treat Disney Adults like a punchline. It digs into why people connect so deeply with Disney, why that passion can be misunderstood, and why this whole subculture matters more than the snarky corners of the internet usually admit. Disney Adults! Also, let’s be honest: Disney Adults have taken a beating online. People love to act like enjoying themed entertainment as a grown-up is somehow more embarrassing than spending twelve hours yelling at football or collecting tiny ceramic frogs. Everyone has a thing. Ours just happens to involve castle views, snack maps, and knowing exactly where to stand for fireworks. ‘Disney Adults’ by AJ Wolfe This is the kind of listen that feels both validating and fascinating. It is great for longtime Disney fans, curious skeptics, and anyone who has ever been asked, “Aren’t you a little old for Disney?” and had to resist producing a 37-slide presentation. We see you. We have charts. view ON AMAZON One Little Spark!: Mickey’s Ten Commandments and the Road to Imagineering If you love Imagineering, this audiobook belongs very high on your list. Marty Sklar was a Disney Legend and longtime creative force within Walt Disney Imagineering, and One Little Spark! is built around “Mickey’s Ten Commandments,” a set of guiding principles he created for Imagineers. Translation: this is basically catnip for people who want to understand how Disney thinks about storytelling, design, guest experience, and building places that somehow make you emotionally attached to trash cans and background music loops. ©Amazon This is not just a “here are some fun Disney facts” book. It gets into creative philosophy. For Disney fans who love the craft behind the magic, this one is especially satisfying. It makes you look at the parks differently. Suddenly, you’re noticing sightlines, transitions, sound design, and how a land reveals itself as you walk through it. You may become temporarily insufferable to travel with. “Actually, the forced perspective here is doing a lot of work.” Your family may groan, but they will benefit from your newfound wisdom. Probably. This audiobook is a strong pick for aspiring creatives, theme park nerds, Disney history fans, and anyone who has ever stared at an attraction queue and thought, “I need to know who made this decision and why.” view ON AMAZON Building A Better Mouse, 40th Anniversary Edition: The Story of the Electronic Imagineers Who Designed EPCOT EPCOT fans, please gather. Bring your vintage park maps, your Spaceship Earth opinions, and your deeply held belief that this park is more than a place to eat cheese soup and drink around the world. Building A Better Mouse focuses on the Electronic Imagineers who helped design EPCOT Center, which already tells you this is going to be extremely specific in the best possible way. This is the audiobook for people who love early EPCOT, technical problem-solving, behind-the-scenes stories, and the glorious strangeness of a theme park that once said, “What if vacation, but also urban planning, communication theory, agriculture, transportation, and animatronics?” ©Amazon EPCOT has always been the park with the most unusual identity. It has been futuristic, educational, ambitious, awkward, brilliant, and sometimes deeply chaotic. That is part of why people love it so much. This audiobook digs into the creation of that original EPCOT Center energy, especially from the perspective of the people working on the systems and technology that helped bring it to life. If you are the kind of Disney fan who misses Horizons, still gets misty about original Journey Into Imagination, or has strong feelings about whether EPCOT should have more edutainment, this one may hit you right in the retro-futuristic heart. It is not the broadest Disney book on this list, but that is exactly the charm. It is niche. It is nerdy. It is very much for the people who hear “Electronic Imagineers” and immediately sit up straighter. view ON AMAZON The Final Chapter These Audible picks are not your basic Disney souvenirs. They are not plushes, mugs, ears, or yet another item you swear you’ll display tastefully before it somehow joins the sacred pile of “vacation stuff” in a closet. These are Disney finds you can actually use while doing something else. They make your commute better, your chores less tragic, and your next Disney trip a little more interesting because you’ll understand more of what you’re seeing. Voyageurs’ Lounge Whether you want Disney leadership insight, a thoughtful look at Disney Adult culture, Imagineering principles, or a deep dive into EPCOT’s early creation, these audiobooks are worth adding to your list. And if anyone asks why you’re listening to a book about Disney on a random Tuesday? Tell them it’s research. Very important research. We’re always on the hunt for the latest and greatest Disney souvenirs and essentials, so don’t forget to stay tuned to the Disney Food Blog for more! View the full article

Bork bork bork! In case you don’t speak Swedish Chef, that means, “There’s a NEW Swedish Chef food truck at Disney’s Hollywood Studios, and we tried EVERYTHING on the menu!” Full spread! That’s right, FØØD by Swedish Chef officially opens on May 26th with the newly rethemed Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Starring The Muppets, and we were lucky enough to snag these eats before the opening. From savory snacks to sweet treats and drinks, is this new spot worth a visit on your next trip to Hollywood Studios? Let’s find out! You’ll find FØØD by Swedish Chef in the courtyard just outside the entrance to Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Starring The Muppets. This new spot will open along with the ride on May 26th, but we’re bringing you a look and review of all the food now! Let’s get into it. We tried everything! First up, we tried the Wocka Wocking Nachos. These are made with corn chips and queso blanco, and tomatoes with “just the right amount of guacamole.” Wocka Wocka Walking Nachos It’s hard not to like crunchy Fritos covered in guacamole, pico de gallo, and some queso. We do wish there were more toppings, but maybe that will get worked out after some guest feedback. The guacamole was creamy, along with the queso, but there was very little salsa — even though it was quite good. The salsa had just a hint of a kick, but nothing too spicy. We wish that the chips were more smothered and covered with the toppings that are promised. The queso is so mild that we first mistook it for sour cream, so we think that it could use some improvements, but everything altogether makes for a really great snack. Wocka Wocka Walking Nachos Next is the Churro Drumstick. This is a twisted churro tossed in mixed berry sugar and then topped with a raspberry sauce and assorted sprinkles. This is, unfortunately, a Disney World churro; however, the raspberry sugar on the outside is a delightful tart, sweet addition, as well as the drizzle on top. Otherwise, the texture is the same as other Disney World churros, which leaves much to be desired, but the flavors are good, and this is a fun spin on a classic churro. Churro Drumstick We also grabbed the Mayhem Soft-serve Float. It’s made with Frozen Fanta Blue Raspberry and a vanilla soft-serve topped with pink cotton candy. Pro tip — let the ice cream melt slightly and then stir this concoction together — the result is creamy vanilla with raspberry notes, a little bit of carbonation, and it’s actually quite craveable when stirred altogether, it even gets notes of the cotton candy. We tried this one before stirring it in, and all you get is some blue raspberry Fanta, so we highly recommend stirring it all together and really enjoying it in a melting vanilla raspberry form! Mayhem Soft-Serve Float The Pink Le-moi-nade is made with Minute Maid Premium Lemonade with guava. There’s a sprinkle of pink shimmer mixed in for a nod to Miss Piggy! This was utterly refreshing! The guava notes come through with the pink lemonade. This was absolutely delicious. If you ask us, it’s the perfect treat for a hot day, and lemonade lovers would really like this. The tang of the guava comes in after the initial lemon flavor, and makes it just a little bit more of a special, different taste than your traditional pink lemonade. We would order this again and again! Pink Le-moi-nade Pond Water Limeade is inspired by Kermit the Frog, and it’s made with Minute Maid Premium Limeade, green apple, and fruit juice-filled pearls. Pond Water Limeade This was delightfully sour. It is like a lime Sour Patch Kid. Our reporter absolutely loved this. The boba pops very nicely, and the skin isn’t too thick on the boba, which is nice. If you’re a fan of Sour Patch Kids, you’ll absolutely think this is the perfect treat. It delivers with the lime flavor throughout. The boba didn’t really add a lot of flavor, but it was a little sweet, which balanced out the tartness just enough so that you weren’t in full pucker mode. The green apple flavor did come through after the initial sourness, too. We think kids will really like this one! Pond Water Limeade Of course, we were THRILLED to find out that the Mini Corn Dog Nuggets were staying on the menu, so we had to try them too! We are happy to report that these are the same mini corn dogs that you will find at Casey’s on Main Street in Magic Kingdom! They are beef hot dogs wrapped in a cornmeal crust, so the crust is slightly sweet on the outside. On the inside is a tasty small beef hot dog. If you love the ones from Casey’s, you’re going to love these. They come with a small bag of Lay’s Potato Chips as well. Corn Dog Nuggets In addition to these items, when this new spot opens, you can also find: Chocolate Chip Cookies Assorted Chips Vanilla, Chocolate, or Swirl Waffle Cone Frozen Floats with Coca-Cola or Barq’s Root Beer Fountain Sodas Frozen Blue Raspberry (Also available with Bacardi Superior Rum or Tito’s Handmade Vodka) Big Fritos! We’ll be on the lookout for even more updates you need to know about from Hollywood Studios and beyond. Planning out your meals for your Disney World trip? We’ve got lots of suggestions! Yak & Yeti Eats We’ve dined at every restaurant in Disney World (multiple times at this point), and we have a list of spots that have been historically pretty good. Among that list is Yak & Yeti Restaurant at Disney’s Animal Kingdom. But now, it’s getting more expensive! Many of the food items on the Yak & Yeti menu have increased in price, according to the prices listed online. Most of the price increases amount to less than one dollar per item, but that could add up a bit if you’re with a large group that’s ordering a lot of food. Yak & Yeti table Nearly everything increased, but we’ll highlight here some of the prominent price increases — the popular dishes that got more expensive. The Pork Pot Stickers increased to $13.29 from $12.99 and our beloved Wok-Fried Green Beans were previously $12.99 and are now $13.29 as well. The Firecracker Shrimp went from $14.99 to $15.49. The Kimchi Calamari got a 50-cent price increase, as did the Lettuce Cups, the Crab Rangoon Dip, and the Korean Fried Chicken. The Ahi Tuna Nachos went up 80 cents from $22.99 to $23.79. ©Disney The Wonton Soup got a 50-cent price increase, and the House Salad went up 30 cents. The other salads got price increases as well. ©Disney The Dragon Roll Bowl went from $29.99 to $30.79 and the Lo Mein dishes each went up 60 cents. In more positive news, the Beef Chow Fun is a NEW menu item with wok-fried beef, onions, bean sprouts, scallions, and rice noodles. ©Disney The Chicken Tikka Masala and Coconut Shrimp were both previously $27.99 and increased 80 cents to $28.79. The Bhaktapur Duck was one of the bigger price increases, getting a whole dollar more expensive. Also new to the menu is the Roasted Vegetable Bowl. The Honey Chicken and Sweet & Sour Chicken are menu favorites, and they each got 60-cent price increases. ©Disney The Hibachi Steak & Shrimp also got a dollar more expensive, and the Chef’s Fresh Catch was removed from the menu entirely. Miso Salmon was added as a new grilled option. ©Disney Each of the sides got price increases ranging from 30-80 cents. Fortunately, the desserts section seemed to be saved from the price increases. ©Disney Keep these changes in mind if you’re heading to Yak & Yeti for lunch or dinner soon. This is a great spot to stop because they often have walk-up availability, even if you can’t get a reservation through Disney. Also, they’re operated by the Landry’s restaurant group, so you can join their rewards program to get discounts and freebies from time to time. See Our Latest Review of Yak & Yeti Here! There are several locations in Disney World that are in desperate need of some TLC. Expedition Everest Over the years, some Disney World attractions, restaurants, and shows have been closed, never to be seen again. The sad part is when those former homes stay abandoned after the fact. And right now, there are a few spots that we’d love to see rejuvenated and used again. Wonders of Life Pavilion Starting out at EPCOT, we have GOT to talk about the Wonders of Life Pavilion. This building is located in World Discovery between Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind and Mission: SPACE, and it used to be home to Body Wars and Cranium Command. After those attractions closed in 2007, the pavilion served as the festival center at EPCOT for more than 10 years. In 2019, it was announced that Wonders of Life would be turned into a new concept — the PLAY! Pavilion. Wonders of Life in 2019 The PLAY! Pavilion was part of EPCOT’s original transformation plans and was set to open for the 50th Anniversary of Disney World in 2021. The pavilion was supposed to feature several interactive games, Disney characters, and what looked to be some very cool digital technology. The concept art was incredible! ©Disney || Play Pavilion Concept Art But due to the pandemic, the plans were delayed, and the project was put on pause. A few years later, mentions of the PLAY! Pavilion were removed from Disney sources, and we haven’t received any updates since. Now, the building sits empty, tucked away from the main path. See the History of the PLAY! Pavilion Here! Stitch’s Great Escape On to one of Disney World’s more controversial attractions. Stitch’s Great Escape opened at Magic Kingdom in 2002 (with toilet paper fanfare), but closed permanently in 2018. For a little while afterward, its show building was used as a Stitch meet-and-greet area, but since the pandemic, it has been basically abandoned. Where Stitch’s Great Escape used to be. (Construction photo from 2020) Before housing Stitch’s Great Escape, this building was home to the famously frightening ExtraTERRORestrial Alien Encounter. The two shows shared much of the same technology, so it’s possible Disney could use this space for a similar theater-in-the-round show in the future, or they could scrap it and do something new. Fingers crossed for a new attraction! How a Terrifying Animatronic and Intense Restraints Ruined This Attraction Discovery River Amphitheater This next one is an “abandoned” space you can actually still visit. Discovery River Amphitheater is the large outdoor theater in front of Expedition Everest, facing the Discovery River. It’s made to house large crowds for big shows, and it has been used for a few different things over the years. Discovery River Amphitheater In more recent times, this theater was where you could watch Rivers of Light at nighttime, pre-COVID. The nighttime show in Animal Kingdom used water effects and animal-themed floats instead of fireworks, and oddly enough, it closed a couple of months BEFORE the pandemic hit. Rivers of Light: We Are One Then, in 2021, this theater was where you could catch Disney KiteTails, a lively 10-minute show with giant animal kites and puppets that arrived for the 50th Anniversary. The show ran for exactly 365 days before it closed permanently as well. Since then, the theater remains open for guests to sit in, but no entertainment (besides the flotillas that ran through the river for a while) has been performed here. Learn More About KiteTails Here! Restaurant Marrakesh The poor Morocco Pavilion has been THROUGH it since the pandemic. An area that was once vivacious and full of life has been kinda…dead the past few years. One poignant loss is Restaurant Marrakesh, which never reopened as a dining location after the closure in 2020. Restaurant Marrakesh This space has been used for a lounge on several occasions. During the past few Food & Wine Festivals, it has been a lounge sponsored by Florida Blue. Then, during the early summer, it’s often open for Annual Passholder appreciation days with snacks and a special photo op. We would love to see it back to its former glory, though! What We Think Disney Should Do With This Space! The Far Side of BoardWalk Finally, we’ve got to chat about the far side of Disney’s BoardWalk — the side closer to Hollywood Studios and the Walt Disney World Swan and Dolphin. While the near side of the BoardWalk has seen additions recently — The Cake Bake Shop, BoardWalk Deli, BoardWalk Ice Cream, and Blue Ribbon Corn Dogs — the far side of the BoardWalk has mostly seen losses. Disney’s Boardwalk It started with the closure of Big River Grille in early 2024. The restaurant shut down with only a few days’ notice (ironically, within a week of when I had gone there to review the dinner menu for Disney Food Blog!), and the space has been vacant since. However, recently, a project has been announced on the Central Florida Tourism Oversight District website for this location. We’re interested to see what comes next. Big River Grille & Brewing Works Then, the dueling pianos bar, Jellyrolls, closed permanently in 2025. Nearly a year later, it was announced that Jellyrolls would get a new location off Disney property, and now, its former home is under construction. Disney hasn’t shared yet what’s coming next, but we’re keeping an eye on it. Old Jellyrolls building There’s a LOT of real estate in Disney World, and there are a wide variety of projects that Disney could take on to fill it. We’ll be interested to see what they do with these spaces in the future! 5 Nightmare Experiences From Folks Who Aren’t Going Back to Disney World Join the DFB Newsletter to get all the breaking news right in your inbox! Universal just dropped news on a new themed house coming, and we need to talk about it! We’re headed to a juke joint this spooky season, because Universal just announced that Sinners will be coming to HHN. Guests who are planning on going to the special ticketed event will get to immerse themselves in writer/director/producer Ryan Coogler’s blockbuster supernatural horror masterpiece in all-new haunted houses! ©Universal Sinners released last year and made over $370 million at the global box office, while earning widespread acclaim from audiences and critics alike. Now, Warner Bros. Pictures’ Sinners adds “haunted house” to its repertoire as it joins Universal Studios’ Halloween Horror Nights. Universal Orlando and Universal Hollywood will both be getting the Sinners haunted house. ©Warner Bros The film that Sinners is is nothing to scoff at. It is the highest-grossing original horror film of all time, and it received a record-breaking 16 Academy Award nominations and four Oscar wins. The film takes place in 1930s Mississippi, where twin brothers Smoke and Stack return to their hometown to open a juke joint for their community. Celebration turns to panic as unrelenting vampires crash the opening night, threatening to violently curse the guests in a brutal battle for survival. ©Warner Bros “It’s been incredible to see audiences connect with Sinners in such a powerful way,” said Ryan Coogler, Zinzi Coogler, and Sev Ohanian, producers of Sinners and founders of Proximity Media, in a joint statement. “Now, partnering with Halloween Horror Nights gives fans the chance to step even deeper into the world of the film — to feel the music, the atmosphere and the tension all around them. Watching it come to life on this scale has been really special for all of us.” ©IMDb The Halloween Horror Nights house will transport guests back in time to the popular Club Juke, where they will encounter red-eyed vampires Remmick, Bert, and Joan, who appear with their insatiable hunger. You’ll need to evade the vampires at every turn! Fans will encounter some of their favorite characters from the film, including Sammie, Mary, Annie, Pearline, and Cornbread. You’ll be caught in a deadly struggle between the twins, Smoke and Stack, and the bloodthirsty vampires. Can you survive the night until the sun rises? 2024 Halloween Horror Nights “At Halloween Horror Nights, we push the boundaries of what a live horror experience can be,” said Executive Producer for Halloween Horror Nights, Universal Studios Hollywood, John Murdy. “Just as Ryan Coogler’s Academy Award winning film, Sinners re-invented the vampire movie, we are re-inventing the haunted house and creating new ways to scare our guests that we’ve never attempted and are thrilled to bring this amazing story to life in a truly terrifying and fully immersive way.” Universal Orlando Halloween Horror Nights “The moment Sinners premiered, we knew it was an undeniable fit for Halloween Horror Nights and it’s an honor to bring this story to life,” said Mike Aiello, Senior Director of Entertainment Creative Development at Universal Orlando Resort. “It’s rare for a film to fully satisfy hardcore horror fans while also inviting new audiences into the genre—and that’s exactly what Sinners does. Its world, characters and intensity will translate into a relentless haunted house. We can’t wait for our fans to step inside and experience the horror firsthand in a way that only Halloween Horror Nights can deliver.” Be prepared to be SCARED!
