Choosing a date for your Disney World vacation can be challenging, but if you’re on a tight budget, we’re here to help! All-Star Music The fall is a time of year when it’s notoriously a little cheaper to visit Disney World or stay in a Disney Resort. We did the research, and we’re sharing the cheapest nights to stay at a Disney hotel this fall…let’s get to planning! Before we dive in, if you’re interested in planning a trip to Disney World this fall, we recommend booking with our friends at Small World Vacations. They’re experts in the field with years of experience planning Disney trips, and they can help you find the best deals for your trip, even applying deals to your hotel stay if they come available after you book. We’ll give you the tips and news, but their expertise will make sure the planning process is smooth. Now, on to the cheapest days for you to stay! To gather this data, we looked at nightly rates for both a Value Resort and a Deluxe Resort throughout the entire fall season, marking down the nights that had the cheapest rates. We were a little bit surprised by our findings, as the actual cheapest nights varied a bit between the two hotels. Disney’s Contemporary Resort At Disney’s All-Star Music Resort, the cheapest dates from September 21st-December 21st fell during the months of October and November. That’s a little unusual, considering we often think of September as the cheapest month to go. At the Contemporary Resort, September was indeed the cheapest of the months. So it goes to show that price can vary depending on hotel as well as room type. If you’re curious about your specific resort, it’s a good idea to look around at a few different dates and compare. All-Star Music Resort September 21st-24th September 28th-30th October 1st October 5th-7th October 12th-14th October 19th-21st October 26th-28th November 2nd-4th November 9th-11th November 16th-18th Port Orleans Resort — French Quarter If you notice, most of these dates fall on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Wednesdays. Those are typically the cheapest nights of the week to stay in a Disney Resort, with prices rising on Friday and Saturday nights in particular, since it’s more popular to visit on the weekends. A few of the dates in the list fall on a Thursday. Bay Lake Tower If you’re visiting this fall, there are a few dates to avoid if you’re looking to save money. Thanksgiving week is fairly expensive and usually quite crowded. The same goes for Columbus Day/Indigenous People’s Day weekend — anytime there’s a holiday, there will be more folks in the parks and at the resorts. Also, prices really start to jump as you get into December. You’ll notice no December dates make it on the list, even though it’s still technically fall for the first three weeks of the month. There’s just something about Pixar movies that hits differently, which is probably why many of them have been so successful. This year has been a great year for Pixar movies, too, with the release of Hoppers, as well as Toy Story 5, which even has a new original Taylor Swift song on its soundtrack. ©Pixar So what’s Pixar’s next move? Well, the company previously mentioned a feature it’s been working on called Gatto, and now, the first teaser trailer for that movie has arrived — and let’s just say that Disney fans are STOKED. So it seems like Disney might have a hit on its hands, thanks to the subject matter (gotta’ love cats!) and its unique animation style. When we’re in EPCOT craving a snack, the Japan Pavilion is our go-to spot. Where else in Disney World can you get sushi, sake, and kakigōri all in one place? A5 Wagyu Nigiri Combo We love the quick-service stand Kabuki Cafe for a quick, authentic meal, but recently, we saw a new menu item that shook us to our core – you can now get quick-service wagyu in Disney World! The A5 Wagyu Nigiri Combo is $16.50 at Kabuki Cafe. It includes four pieces of California Roll and three pieces of A5 Japanese Wagyu Nigiri. A5 Wagyu Nigiri Combo The California Roll is your classic avocado crab roll. This is the same as the regular California Roll on the menu, which is made with avocado, cucumber, imitation crab, mayonnaise, and smelt roe. It’s very fresh thanks to the cucumber, and packed with earthy avocado and savory crab. California Roll But the real star of the show? The wagyu! The meat itself is chewy and lightly salted for flavor. The tender texture of the wagyu paired well with the crispy rice. There’s also a thin sauce on this. At first, we thought it might be eel sauce, but when we tried it on its own, it tasted salty, similar to steak sauce. Regardless, it really enhanced the flavor, making this a tasty yet complex nigiri. Wagyu Nigiri We loved this Wagyu Nigiri and wished that we could get it on its own. We’re in the market of trying all the “viral” items we find online that people say you need for Disney World or Disneyland trips, solely because we need to see if that’s ACTUALLY the truth, or if you can actually save some money and forgo grabbing whatever it is. Silicone Waterproof Shoe Covers We’ve tried some “essentials” that are far from it, and we actually recommend you stay far away from them, but we’ll also be honest and say there have also been many that we DO feel are necessary, even ones that we thought would be a total waste. In fact, one of the ones we were most skeptical about was those silicone shoe covers we saw go viral on TikTok. We thought they’d be totally useless, but alas, we were proven VERY wrong. We often talk about how important it is to bring umbrellas and/or ponchos into the park, because the last thing you want is to be soaking wet for the remainder of a Disney World day. It may not seem that bad, but when you’re all wet, and then you walk into a restaurant or ride with BLASTING AC? Yep, you’ll regret it almost immediately. Rainy Day in Magic Kingdom Shoe Covers Save The Day! While clothes can dry out decently quickly, especially on hot days, shoes and socks are a different story. While some people can walk around the parks in open-toed shoes all day and not have issues, we do recommend sneakers for the support they provide. When those get wet, though? That’s a recipe for blisters, and those can quickly ruin the rest of your trip. That’s where the Silicone Waterproof Shoe Covers come into play, and though they look silly, we can say firsthand that they DO help. Shoe Covers! All you have to do is put these on over your shoes and zip them up! If you’re in between shoe sizes, we recommend sizing up, just to be on the safe side, to ensure the zipper on top can close entirely. We put them on during a downpour in Magic Kingdom, and after just about 10 minutes, when we looked at our reporter, who didn’t have them on, and compared the dryness of our own shoes to theirs, we knew these were golden. Easy to put on! Now, if it’s raining particularly hard and you’re walking against the rain, meaning the rain is rolling down your legs towards your feet, that’s where you may notice some drops slipping through, so they’re not completely foolproof. However, they will save your socks from creating blisters that will hurt with every step for the rest of your trip, and we think THAT is a massive win. This way, too, you can still walk around the parks while it rains instead of hiding inside or under an overhang. Grab them here! Some big changes have hit Animal Kingdom recently, largely thanks to Bluey! The entrance to the Wildlife Express Bluey’s Wild World opened up at Conservation Station near the end of May, and it has been popular ever since. When it first opened, the experience required a virtual queue, but now there’s a standby line to see the Bluey show. However, that’s not the only offering out there — Jumping Junction is where you can meet some creatures native to Australia and it’s testing a big upgrade. To visit Jumping Junction, you’ll need to board the Wildlife Express train in the Africa section of Animal Kingdom and ride out to Conservation Station. Bluey’s Wild World is located inside the main building there, but outdoors, Jumping Junction takes over the former home of the Affection Section. Here, you can see kangaroos and wallabies. Jumping Junction When Jumping Junction first opened, you would only be able to see the animals from afar, but now, the park is testing the ability to walk through the kangaroo and wallaby enclosure. You are not allowed to pet or touch the animals, but the walkthrough experience gives you a close-up look while a keeper gives you background information about the creatures. Groups lined up to go in During our visit, testing involved bringing small groups of about 10 people through the enclosure, making sure that you continue walking the whole time so as not to trigger the animals’ territorial instincts. The goal is to slowly introduce groups and increase the comfort levels of the animals over time. Heading inside If you get the chance to do a walkthrough, the keeper guiding your group will give fun facts about the kangaroos and wallabies. There are 15 animals in the enclosure currently, and five of them have little joeys in their pouches! One of the group is a male red kangaroo, and he’s the only of his species at Jumping Junction because his species is known for being territorial. There they are! On June 11th when we stopped by, these tours were being paused as needed throughout the day, so it’s not a guarantee that they’ll be available when you visit. The comfort of the animals is the priority, so the keepers are keeping a close watch the whole time and will pause everything if they sense that the kangaroos or wallabies are getting restless. The pathway We’ll be interested to see how procedures for this change over time. The hope is that as the animals get more relaxed in their new home, Animal Kingdom will be able to open the enclosure for guests to visit freely. We’ll let you know if any more updates happen. This January, Disney started repainting the iconic Cinderella Castle in a new blue-and-white color scheme. The castle has now officially been repainted at Magic Kingdom, and it’s looking great! Magic Kingdom’s Cinderella Castle So when we went on the My Disney Experience app while in Magic Kingdom this morning, we noticed a massive change to the castle! Now that Cinderella Castle has a finished makeover, the My Disney Experience app has been updated with the new blue-and-white look! Isn’t she a beaut? ©Disney The page for Cinderella Castle has also been updated, featuring a new photo of the color palette behind the Partners Statue! It looks amazing next to Walt and Mickey himself. ©Disney But Cinderella Castle isn’t the only change coming to the My Disney Experience app. Disney will be rolling out new app and website updates over the next few months to take some of the stress out of Disney World vacation planning. These updates will include a trip checklist, an AI-powered search, and updated booking tools. ©Disney The app will get a redesigned home page so it’s easier to find the information you’re looking for, including your trip details, reservations, travel parties, and planning reminders. The homepage will be organized more around your actual vacation. A new trip checklist feature will keep you from forgetting things like Lightning Lane booking windows, dining reservations, hotel check-in, and more. The app’s search feature will be improved via AI. Over at Disney Springs, one of our favorite restaurants is bringing back a major dining deal — kids can eat FREE this summer! We’ve got all the details you need to know, so let’s get into it. Jaleo at Disney Springs has brought back its Kids Eat Free deal for the summer! From June 16th through September 3rd, kids can eat free from Monday through Thursday with each paying adult! Kids’ Menu To get this deal, each adult must spend a minimum of $30, which includes many of the entrées on the menu, and then your kiddos’ meals will be totally free. Each kids’ meal at Jaleo is $14, so depending on how many adults and kids are in your party, this could be a pretty decent savings! Kids’ meals include typical fare like cheeseburgers and chicken tenders, but for more adventurous eaters, there is also grilled flat iron steak, seared Atlantic salmon, and grilled chicken breast. Patatas Bravas Jaleo features an extensive menu of tapas that showcase traditional and contemporary Spanish cuisine, such as paella (cooked over a wood fire), hand-carved Jamón Iberico de Bellota, and wood-grilled Iberico pork. This Signature dining experience in Disney Springs is the first Florida location for Jaleo, which has other locations in the United States. Quesos selection of 3 cheeses Chef José Andrés — who started and owns Jaleo — has been named as one of Time Magazine’s 100 Most Influential People in 2012 and 2018, as well as Humanitarian of the Year by the James Beard Foundation. He was also nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize in 2019 for disaster relief work through World Central Kitchen, the non-profit organization he founded in 2010. We cover Disney parks heavily here at DFB, but we like to keep up with news from theme parks around the world as well. ©Hershey Park There are so many fun experiences you can check out if you’re a theme park fan, and one of them resides in Hershey, Pennsylvania. Hersheypark has been around for 120 years and has seen some significant changes during that time, but now, it’s about to close a popular ride. The Hersheypark website has been updated to note that Tidal Force will have its “final splash” at the end of the summer 2026 season. This log flume ride has been making splashes for 32 years, and the boats will dock permanently on September 7th, 2026. ©Hersheypark The ride takes you up a 100-ft hill before dropping down the hill at speeds of over 50 mph. The splash it creates is MASSIVE and even soaks bystanders. It’s a great ride to check out on a hot day in the parks when you’re looking for a way to cool off. You must be at least 42″ tall to ride. ©Hersheypark Even though Hersheypark doesn’t have the popularity of some other theme park giants in the U.S., it’s consistently ranking in the top 10 theme parks in the country. It has also been reviewed well for its dining offerings in the past, making it a good stop for foodies and chocolate-lovers alike. ©Hershey Entertainment & Resorts Company Hersheypark is just one part of the Hershey attractions property, also including The Boardwalk at Hersheypark (their water park) and ZooAmerica (accessible via bridge from Hersheypark). In addition, you can check out Hershey’s Chocolate World next door to learn about the history of the company and how chocolate is made. When it comes to dining at the Disney World Resorts, one of the hotels at the top of the game (perhaps even the #1 choice) is Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort. Enchanted Rose Lounge This Monorail-area hotel is a fan-favorite for many reasons, but its dining is out of this world. From the delightful 1900 Park Fare character meal and the charming Garden View Lounge tea experience to the Michelin-starred Victoria & Albert’s, there are plenty of delicious choices. And recently, we stopped at the hotel’s Beauty and the Beast-themed lounge for a full review. Atmosphere Welcome, ladies and gentlemen, dishes and furniture, to the Enchanted Rose lounge! This Beauty and the Beast-themed spot is located on the second floor of the main building at the Grand Floridian, and it is POPULAR. Enchanted Rose Enchanted Rose is currently operating from noon to 11 PM daily. It has several seating areas, including a section of couches and tables on the balcony overlooking the Grand Flo lobby. Menu On the inside of the restaurant, there are a few different rooms themed to different moments from Beauty and the Beast. One matches the enchanted forest, with dark, moody tones… The Garden Room …the main room with the bar is themed to the ballroom, with a chandelier inspired by Belle’s dress… The ballroom …and a third room is decorated to match the library. The library In this third room, you’ll find some hidden characters! It’s a fun detail to look for while you dine. Hello, Cogsworth! There’s also an outdoor balcony where you can dine on nice evenings. Now, let’s dive into the menu! Menu The menu here isn’t very large, but it has some decent variety in terms of food. You could go for lounge bites with the Guajillo-spiced Mixed Nuts or the Warm Marinated Olives, or you could get something heartier like the Charcuterie or Smoked Trout and Crab Dip. They also have a $125 caviar, if you’re interested. ©Disney Some of the highlights of the drink menu include the stunning featured cocktails, like the Roses & Rhubarb, Seasoned Old Fashioned, and Rye Not. They also serve Grand Cocktails, including a Manhattan and Negroni. ©Disney There are four different featured martinis on the menu, and a selection of beer and hard cider. The restaurant also has a rather extensive wine menu. ©Disney And if you’d rather not imbibe, you can go for one of the non-alcoholic beverages. They serve mocktails and coffee drinks, as well as hot tea. ©Disney Now on to our order! Drinks We started our visit here with two beverages. First was the Lavender Fog for $20.50. It’s made with Nolet’s Silver Dry Gin, Rothman & Winter Crème de Violette, Twinings English Breakfast Tea, Vanilla, and Cream. Lavender Fog Our reporter who tried this said they usually don’t like floral-tasting drinks, but this one resonated well with them. It’s not super flowery, but that’s definitely the dominating flavor. The gin is subtle and not as strong as we expected. The foam on top has almost a marshmallowy taste, which was quite sweet and balanced out the drink really well. It’s pretty! We also ordered the non-alcoholic Rosemary Cooler for $8. It’s made with Minute Maid Premium Lemonade, Vanilla, and Rosemary. We found it to be not very strong with the rosemary, but the lemonade flavor was punchy. The vanilla lightened it up a bit, making it taste almost like lemon sorbet or ice cream. Rosemary Cooler It’s a little on the pricey side, but rather unique for a non-alcoholic drink. Eats To eat, we snagged both the Charcuterie and the Smoked Trout and Crab Dip. The Charcuterie is $22 here and comes with Duck Rillettes, Bresaola, Serrano Ham, Sopressata, Tomato Jam, Cornichons, Citrus Mustard, Pickled Carrots, Olive Crostini, and Grissini. Charcuterie The Bresaola was similar to salami, a little spicy and fatty, while the ham was nice and tender with some decent fat content as well. The duck was alright. It was too tough for our liking, to the point where it was almost leathery. Charcuterie meat The citrus mustard was surprisingly spicy with a nice kick that balanced the other flavors, but we didn’t get anything citrus-wise from it. The pickled carrots were pretty sour but had a nice snap, and the breads were incredibly crunchy without tasting stale. However, we do think that the quantity of the bread was too little for a board this size. Our charcuterie creation The Smoked Trout and Crab Dip is $16 and served with Salmon Roe, Chive Oil, and Sesame Seed Lavosh. It was SO delicious, honestly. The texture is incredibly smooth and creamy. Smoked Trout and Crab Dip The crackers it’s served with are very crispy but hold their structure when pushed through the dip. They’re pretty flavorless, but this works because the dip is soooo flavorful that it might be overwhelming with punchier-flavored crackers. The flavor of the dip itself reminds us of lobster bisque, and the trout is very tender with a light lemon burst to it. If we told you to go to Enchanted Rose to get one food item, it would be THIS. The dip! So, how does the restaurant rate for us? Nosh or Not This Disney World restaurant is a must-visit if… You’re a Beauty and the Beast fan. There are a few different Beauty and the Beast restaurants in Disney World, and this is one of the most beautiful. The hidden details are so fun, and the theming is elegant. A great spot to grab a drink and admire the atmosphere. You’re doing a Monorail crawl. If you’re doing a Monorail crawl to grab drinks and apps around the Monorail resorts, this is the most themed bar at the Grand Floridian, though it’s far from the only option available. You’re mostly focused on drinks. Some of the drinks here are pretty unique and beautifully presented. If drinks are your priority, this is a good spot to stop, as they have a fairly full beverage menu. You should skip this Disney World spot if… You don’t care about the theme and just want a drink. The downside to this restaurant is that the drinks are PRICEY. If you just want a nightcap and don’t care where you go, there are several other bars available at the Grand Floridian or on the Monorail loop that you could choose. You want a meal with your beverage. The only food on the menu here is the selection of small plates and appetizers — it’s not really the place to go for an actual meal. You want a quieter, less crowded experience. In the evenings, this spot is popular, and it can be rather busy with other patrons. If you want a calmer bar, go elsewhere. Overall This restaurant is absolutely stunning, and it’s a great stop for a themed beverage and fun decor. However, is it a must-do? Maybe not if you’re not a massive Beauty and the Beast fan or if you’re ballin’ on a budget. The cocktails are on the pricey side, and there’s not much to the food menu. For some folks, it might be a one-and-done, but we think it’s worth visiting at least once. The rose! And if you stop by, make sure you get that Trout and Crab Dip…it’s incredible! The library! We’re big theme park fans here at DFB, which means we keep up with the major happenings at theme parks around the world. ©Kynren So when we learned that a UK theme park was opening an entire time travel-themed park expansion, we were incredibly intrigued. Kynren: The Storied Lands – an addition to the original Kynren attraction — is opening soon. And now we know how much tickets will be! Instead of traditional rides, this experience will emphasize live-action shows, immersive environments, large-scale sets, animals, and cutting-edge effects. Kynren: The Storied Landswill open on July 18th, 2026. Now, tickets are available for purchase online! ©Kynren The website says, “Kynren – The Storied Lands is a time-travelling adventure, where history, myth, and legend come to life through spectacular live-action shows.” Tickets are available for select days of the week, and when you go to purchase, you’ll need to choose a time slot to arrive for your visit. They’re 30 GBP each, which translates to $40 USD per adult. Children’s tickets are 20 GBP or about $26.66 US dollars each. ©Kynren The new lands at the theme park-like experience include: The Trusty Stead, a horse stunt show adapted from Fina and the Golden Cape, which will feature medieval knights clashing on horseback, a fearless female warrior showing off her courage in a breathtaking display of horsemanship and daring stunts, enormous sets, stunning special effects, and the real Auckland Palace as the backdrop. The Legend of the Wear, a water-based stunt show based on the local legend of the Lambton Worm, featuring water effects, fight scenes, and stunts on a large lake, apparently including a monstrous, cursed creature that emerges from the water. The Lost Feather, a bird show featuring 300 birds, is staged in a 3,600-seat arena inspired by a bird’s nest. The show is described as a “visually stunning free-flying bird show centered around the relationship between birds and humanity.” A Viking-themed area where warriors clash, and fires rage as part of a multi-sensory demonstration of the legendary warriors. A Victorian Imaginarium, where guests will enter a “Victorian library where imagination has escaped from the pages.” As they wander through an outdoor storytelling maze, guests will “encounter curious characters, inventive minds and theatrical surprises inspired by the wonder and creativity of the Victorian age.” This area will eventually tie to a larger Victorian Village planned for a future phase of development (currently targeted for 2027, subject to planning approval). ©Kynren This is an addition to the original Kynren, which is located in Bishop Auckland, County Durham. The entire park focuses around taking guests through iconic moments in British history. Magic Kingdom planning used to have a familiar rhythm. You knew which rides needed your attention first, which ones could wait until the afternoon, and which ones were there for when the Orlando heat and humidity become summer villain duos in your vacation story. Well, go ahead and gently crumple that old plan. Welcome to Magic Kingdom! Two major Magic Kingdom attractions are back in a big way: Big Thunder Mountain Railroad and Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin. And while these aren’t brand-new rides in the “cut the ribbon and sell the commemorative popcorn bucket” sense, they are new enough to mess with your strategy. Big Thunder is back with refreshed show elements, new magic in Rainbow Caverns, and a lower height requirement. Buzz is back with handheld blasters, updated ride vehicles, interactive targets, and enough score-chasing energy to turn your peaceful family vacation into a lightly supervised arcade tournament. That means we have some new Magic Kingdom rules. Rule #1 – Your Old Lightning Lane Plan Needs a Rewrite If you have been treating Magic Kingdom Lightning Lane Multi Pass like a copy-and-paste situation from your last trip, stop right there. Put the spreadsheet down. Take a sip of coffee. We need to talk. Big Thunder Mountain Railroad being back changes the value of your top Lightning Lane picks. This is not a cute little side quest anymore. It is a recently reopened classic with refreshed scenes, huge nostalgia pull, and a new wave of families who want to see what changed. Big Thunder Mountain Railroad That means if Big Thunder is a must-do for your group, it should be high on your Lightning Lane priority list. You may still be tempted by Tiana’s Bayou Adventure, Peter Pan’s Flight, Space Mountain, or Jungle Cruise, and those are the traditional priorities. Magic Kingdom’s Lightning Lane menu is basically a buffet where every plate is somehow shaped like a dilemma. Let’s go! But the rule is simple: do not assume Big Thunder can wait. If your family has not ridden it since the refurbishment, or if you have a kid who just hit the new 38-inch height requirement, this may be your top pick. Check availability when you book, look at return times, and do not sleep on it just because you remember it from the “old days.” The mountain woke up. Plan accordingly. We Rode the New Big Thunder Mountain Railroad, and We Have So Much to Tell You! Rule #2 – Buzz Lightyear Is Not Just “Whenever” Anymore Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin used to be one of those rides people would casually toss into the day. Buzz Lightyear Space Ranger Spin “We’ll do Buzz later.” “Buzz will be fine.” “Buzz is just over there.” That attitude may now get you a wait time you aren’t mentally prepared for. Getting longer… The updated version has handheld blasters, better aiming, interactive targets, onboard scoring, and a new support-bot named Buddy helping Space Rangers get ready for battle. The people are curious. Kids are excited. Competitive adults are about to discover an entirely new way to embarrass themselves in Tomorrowland. We love Buddy! Because Buzz is indoors, air-conditioned, all-ages, and newly refreshed, it has become more valuable than it looks on paper. It is not necessarily the ride you build your entire morning around if you are chasing the biggest headliners, but it is absolutely one you should stop treating like leftover itinerary confetti. Buzz is back! If you see a short standby wait early in the day, take it. If you can grab a reasonable Lightning Lane return time, grab it. And if your group is full of people who care deeply about fake space points, plan time for a possible re-ride. Some families leave Magic Kingdom with castle photos. Others leave with one uncle muttering about how the green blaster was “clearly not calibrated.” The ULTIMATE GUIDE To Getting Galactic Hero Status on the NEW Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin Rule #3 – Rope Drop Has a Fork in the Road Now Magic Kingdom rope drop was already a tactical sport. Now it has more branches than the Swiss Family Treehouse. Early entry sign! If you are staying at a Disney World hotel and using Early Theme Park Entry, Tomorrowland and Fantasyland are still your biggest morning playgrounds. Buzz can make a lot of sense in that first sweep, especially if you have younger kids, Toy Story fans, or someone in your group who talks about their Buzz score with the seriousness of a tax audit. Buzz But Big Thunder lives over in Frontierland, which means your morning route needs intention. You cannot just drift around Main Street, U.S.A. with a pastry and hope the day organizes itself out of politeness. If Big Thunder is your priority and you do not have a Lightning Lane, be ready to head that way early once the park opens. If you are using Early Entry, consider knocking out a Tomorrowland or Fantasyland ride first, then making your way toward Frontierland before the rest of the crowd fully thickens. Going in! The biggest mistake is zigzagging. Starting at Buzz, wandering to Pirates, doubling back to Space Mountain, then hiking to Big Thunder is not a strategy; it’s a case of Magic Kingdom wanderlust. Pick a lane. Tomorrowland/Fantasyland first, or Frontierland/Adventureland first. The monorail does not hand out medals for most unnecessary steps. We Have the Perfect Solution to an Annoying Disney World Rope Drop Problem Rule #4 – Big Thunder Is a Bigger Family Ride Now One sneaky-big change with Big Thunder Mountain Railroad is the height requirement. It is now listed at 38 inches, which puts it in reach for more younger riders. For families with little kids, Magic Kingdom strategy often comes down to inches. A child might be tall enough for Seven Dwarfs Mine Train and Big Thunder, but not yet ready for Space Mountain or TRON. Or maybe they are technically tall enough for something, but the vibes are saying absolutely not, thank you. Big Thunder Mountain Railroad Big Thunder has always lived in a useful middle zone. It is thrilling, but not too intense for many families. It feels big without being “please explain to Grandma why the child has gone silent” big. Now that more kids may qualify, expect more families to prioritize it. That means Big Thunder is not just a nostalgia ride for adults who remember riding it with their parents. It may become the first “real coaster” moment for a lot of kids. That number HURTS So the new rule is this: measure before the trip, not at the entrance. Know who can ride. Know who wants to ride. Know whether Rider Switch needs to be part of your plan. Nothing derails a Frontierland morning faster than realizing the entire family strategy was built on one hopeful kitchen-wall measurement from six months ago. Big Thunder Mountain Railroad Isn’t On Early Entry – Here’s the Best Time To Ride Rule #5 – Save Your Midday Energy For Air Conditioning, Not Standby Lines Magic Kingdom in the middle of the day is not where optimism goes to thrive. It is hot. It is crowded. Someone is crying near a stroller. It may be you. With two refreshed rides pulling extra interest, midday is not the time to casually join a long standby line for Big Thunder unless you have looked at the wait, looked at the sun, and made peace with your choices. Use midday smarter. Turnstile at PeopleMover This is when you lean into shows, lunch, snacks, shopping, PeopleMover (AJ’s pick, of course), Carousel of Progress, Mickey’s PhilharMagic, or whatever keeps your group from turning into a family-size order of melted DOLE Whips. Buzz can also be a great midday option if the wait is reasonable, because indoor rides become emotional currency in Florida. Donald! For Big Thunder, late afternoon, evening, or a Lightning Lane return time may be the better play. And if you can ride Big Thunder after dark, even better. It is one of those attractions that gets more dramatic at night, like it knows it has good lighting. The NEW Rules You Need to Know For Magic Kingdom Right Now Rule #6 – Evening Strategy Just Got More Important Do not underestimate nighttime Magic Kingdom. A lot of guests leave after fireworks, especially families with younger kids. Others get absorbed into the parade and nighttime spectacular crowds. That can create opportunities if you are willing to stay later and your feet have not fully seceded from the vacation. Disney Starlight Big Thunder at night should be on your radar. Buzz can also be a solid late-day or evening option, especially if your group wants one more competition before heading out. Big Thunder is just better at night If you are eligible for Extended Evening Theme Park Hours, check what is available on your date. When both Big Thunder and Buzz are operating during those quieter late-night windows, that can be a huge advantage. Magic Kingdom after dark, with lower waits, is a very different creature. Less stroller traffic. More castle glow. Fewer people are stopping in the middle of a walkway to hold a meeting about pretzels. Use that time well. I’ve Tried Every Ride Hack in Magic Kingdom, And I’m Sharing the 5 That Work Every Time The New Magic Kingdom Rulebook The return of Big Thunder Mountain Railroad and the refreshed Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin do not mean your whole Magic Kingdom day has to become complicated. But they do mean your old habits might not work as well. Rope drop wasn’t bad The big rules are easy to remember: Prioritize Big Thunder if it matters to your group. Stop treating Buzz like a throwaway. Be intentional with rope drop. Measure kids before you go. Avoid the worst midday lines. And take nighttime seriously. Magic Kingdom is still Magic Kingdom. There will still be castle photos, popcorn smells, surprise meltdowns, and at least one person in your group who suddenly needs a bathroom the second you get in line. But with these two refreshed rides back in the mix, the smartest guests will adjust their plans before they walk through the tapstiles. Through the escape hatch! Disney World is changing all the time, and we keep up with it ALL — whether big or small. There’s been a ranch change! Sure, there are new rides, new lands, new experiences, and more, but we pay special attention to little changes that you might not even notice. Recently, we spotted a dining change that you might want to know about, and, as a self-proclaimed ranch aficionado, this one hurts. It looks like Disney is switching ranch dressing brands, and depending on where your loyalties lie, you might not like it. For years, Ken’s has been the supplier of ranch dressing and other dressings at Disney World restaurants. While nothing tastes as good as the homemade stuff, we’ve come to love the familiar, tangy flavor of Ken’s Ranch Dressing. Ken’s dressings So, imagine our surprise when on a recent trip to Contempo Cafe at Disney’s Contemporary Resort, we spotted a different brand of ranch dressing! That’s right, instead of Ken’s, we spotted Kraft Ranch Dressing at this quick service spot. As a ranch fiend, I know how loyal people can be to their brands, and I, personally, am not a fan of this change — but that doesn’t mean others might not be as disappointed as I am! Kraft ranch dressing When we spoke with a Cast Member about the change, we were told that the brand of ranch dressing you get depends on which warehouse is sending Disney World restaurants their stock for the day. That means you might get Kraft one day or Ken’s the next. It also could depend on the restaurant, as well, so you don’t really know what you may get. So, it sounds like it’s not officially the end of Ken’s at Disney World, but it all just depends on who the supplier is and which restaurant you’re at. Ranch Dressing We’ve also spotted Heinz ranch dressing at Columbia Harbour House in Magic Kingdom — Heinz and Kraft are both owned by the same company — so it seems like you just never know what you’re going to get when it comes to ranch dressing at Disney World right now. Although our main focus is Disney World, Disneyland, and Universal Orlando when it comes to theme parks, we’ve been exploring theme parks outside of our normal comfort zone. Recently, we discovered Dollywood (and fell in love with the food), and we’re looking forward to checking out Universal Kids Resort in Texas soon. ©Six Flags So let’s talk about another popular theme park, Six Flags Magic Mountain, which is located in Valencia, CA. Why are we talking about this park? Well, the park just opened a brand new land, and if you love old school cartoons, you’re going to love it. A brand new Looney Tunes land just opened at Six Flags Magic Mountain. The new land is dedicated to all things Looney Tunes and is a “reimagined world where the timeless fun of Looney Tunes comes to life.” The area is designed for family-friendliness with “colorful environments, playful attractions, and beloved characters. ” ©Six Flags The new land has four themed areas “inspired by the iconic personalities and environments of the Looney Tunes universe.” It also includes a total of nine attractions: Camp Bus: “an unforgettably wacky ride” that goes “Forwards, backwards, up, down and all around” Camp Duck Amuck Fort: an indoor playground Canyon Cruiser: a roller coaster Daffy’s Forest Four Wheelers: a four-wheel outdoors jeep adventure Funny Flyers: a Dumbo-like ride where you ride in a vehicle that looks like a propeller plane Looney Balooneys: a floating balloon basket ride Merrie Melodies Merrie Go Round: a carousel Sylvester’s Pounce and Bounce: a bouncy free-fall ride Taz’s Tazmanian Train Tours: a train-themed playground ©Six Flags Each area of the family-friendly land was designed with the idea that you’re stepping inside the Looney Tunes cartoon universe. These days, international travel often requires a good deal of planning in advance. Passport If you live in the United States of America, the U.S. Embassy websites often offer travel advisories and tips for each country, so that you know how to prepare yourself before you hop on that international flight. And with the FIFA World Cup coming up soon, the United States has released a travel advisory for Mexico. The U.S. Embassy & Consulates in Mexico has released a warning about traveling to Mexico for the FIFA World Cup. The dates for this event are June 11th-July 5th, 2026. The website has posted some top issues to be aware of when traveling to Mexico, and there is now a Level 2 Travel Advisory for the country, which means visitors should “exercise increased caution.” ©Adidas So what should you note when traveling to Mexico? Here’s the list from the Embassy: Do not bring any weapons or ammunition into Mexico. It is a serious crime, and you could face severe penalties. Permits for gun ownership in the United States are not valid in Mexico. Drug possession or importation of drugs, including medical marijuana, is illegal in Mexico. It can lead to long jail sentences or fines. This includes all forms of marijuana, including for medical use with a permit, even if allowed where you live in the United States. It is illegal to bring e-cigarettes and vaping liquids into Mexico. Check your bags and clothing pockets before travel if you regularly use items prohibited in Mexico. Bringing in banned items can result in serious penalties even if accidental. Orlando Airport baggage claim The Level 2 Travel Advisory is due to terrorism, crime, and kidnapping. Some areas have increased risk. On the map below, yellow areas are places where you should “exercise increased caution,” orange areas are spaces where you should “reconsider travel,” and the burgundy spots mark “do not travel” zones. ©U.S. Embassy The U.S. Embassy encourages you to not travel between cities after dark and to not travel alone. Only rely on dispatched vehicles from regulated taxi stands or app-based services like Uber or Cabify and do not wave down taxis in the street. Emergency services are limited in remote areas. Uber If you’re heading to Mexico soon, these are the actions the embassy encourages you to take: Read the Mexico Travel Advisory and Country Information Page for travel details and entry requirements. Enroll in the State Department’s Smart Traveler Enrollment Program to receive safety updates. Download and print our contact information pocket guide or save it to your phone to use the clickable links. This handy tool can help you reach us in an emergency. Bring your passport and make sure it hasn’t expired. You cannot board an international flight without a passport. Limit the amount of cash you carry, be cautious when withdrawing funds from an ATM, and avoid isolated ATMs. Use official airport taxi stands, or app-based services like Uber and Cabify. Tell your friends and family about your travel plans, especially if traveling alone. Drive only during daylight hours. In Cancun, Playa del Carmen, Tulum, Cozumel, or other areas in Quintana Roo, download the “Guest Assist” app for emergency services and assistance. Call 911 in an emergency. One of Disney California Adventure’s most beloved dark rides is officially on borrowed time. Monsters, Inc. Mike and Sulley to the Rescue! While the attraction isn’t closing tomorrow, Disney fans now have a clearer picture of when they’ll need to plan a final ride. For guests who love visiting Monstropolis alongside Mike, Sulley, and Boo, the countdown is officially underway as Disneyland Resort continues its massive expansion efforts. Here’s what you need to know about the permanent closure timeline for Monsters, Inc. Mike & Sulley to the Rescue! and what it means for the future of Disney California Adventure. Monsters, Inc. Mike & Sulley to the Rescue! Will Close in 2027 Monsters, Inc. Mike & Sulley to the Rescue! will be permanently closing in 2027. The good news is that the timeline actually got extended. The ride was originally scheduled to close in early 2026, but Disney pushed the closure back to give guests more time with the attraction before it’s gone for good. Disney has not yet announced a specific closing date within 2027, so there’s no hard deadline to race against just yet, but the clock is definitely ticking. Mike in Disney California Adventure (he doesn’t move) The ride has been a fixture at DCA since 2006, and it’s a fan favorite, especially for families with younger kids. It’s the kind of attraction that sneaks up on you as a highlight of the day, so it’s worth making sure it’s on your list if you’re heading to the park before the end of next year. Why Is the Ride Closing? The closure is tied directly to the massive DisneylandForward expansion project, which is reshaping Disney California Adventure in a big way. The space where the Monsters, Inc. ride currently sits will eventually become a brand-new Avatar land, which Disney has confirmed will be inspired by the sequel films rather than replicating the existing Pandora at Animal Kingdom. ©Disney The new Avatar area is expected to include at least one unique ride, described as an adventure boat ride, and is not anticipated to open for several more years (we’re still waiting on an exact timeline from Disney). So even after the Monsters, Inc. ride closes, guests will have a bit of a wait before the replacement land is up and running. The Disneyland Expansion Is Just Getting Started. Here’s What Might Come Next… The Extended Timeline Is a Win for Disneyland Guests Here’s the thing: Disney didn’t just push back this closure randomly. Disneyland’s project management team found a way to sequence construction of the new Avengers Campus attractions, a new Coco boat ride, and the Avatar land without requiring the Monsters, Inc. ride to close on the original schedule or impacting the timeline for those new additions. That’s actually a pretty smart move, because it means fewer closures and more to do for guests visiting DCA during this heavy construction period. Monsters, Inc. Mike & Sulley to the Rescue! The focus on keeping the ride open a little longer also reflects Disney’s ongoing push to offer more for younger guests, since the Monsters, Inc. attraction has always been a strong draw for families with little ones. What You Should Do Before It Closes If you’ve got a trip on the horizon, this ride should be on your must-do list. The closure is still a ways out, but 2027 will arrive before you know it. We don’t know about you, but we’re pretty darn excited about the upcoming release of Toy Story 5. The movie officially premieres in theaters on June 19th, and it’s already predicted to break records. ©Disney Disney has been going ALL out with Toy Story 5, and we’ve been seeing tons of fun promotions and collaborations nearly everywhere. You’ll find a ton of new Toy Story souvenirs and merchandise (including Crocs) and even a collaboration with Papa Johns for Toy Story-themed pizza. We were lucky enough to see an early preview of the new movie, and you’ll never guess who stopped by! The actors joked with the audience about naming an attendee’s baby after a character from the franchise, and mentioned Jess/Jessie, Bonnie, and even Woodie, “with an -ie,” Tom said. Jessie in Frontierland Tim Allen, the voice of Buzz Lightyear, previously spoke about the new movie as well, explaining that the movie will largely focus on Jessie. According to Variety, he said, “I can tell you that it’s a lot about Jessie,” adding, “Tom [Hanks] and I do — Woody and I — do realign. And there’s an unbelievable opening scene with Buzz Lightyear. I can give you that, but I can’t give you much more.” Buzz The new movie is set to be released in theaters on June 19th, 2026. Disney teased that the film will follow the toys as they find their jobs harder than ever while competing with electronics. Something NEW has arrived on the savanna at Kilimanjaro Safaris, and we think you’re going to love it! Kilimanjaro Safaris Every time a new baby animal is born at Animal Kingdom, we get so excited — I mean, who doesn’t get excited about adorable baby animals?! Recently, we shared that a new baby giraffe had been born at Animal Kingdom and would soon make her debut on the Safaris, and now, that time has come. We’ve got a first look at Ivy, the new baby giraffe! It’s official, Ivy has made her Animal Kingdom debut! We got the chance to see Ivy out on the savanna before the park opened, and we can’t get over how adorable she is. Ivy was born at Disney’s Animal Kingdom this April at 120 pounds and nearly six feet tall. Ivy the baby giraffe! When we saw her, she was with her mom, Willow, and another female giraffe named Lily. The giraffes at Animal Kingdom have tree-themed names, since the majority of their diet is tree leaves. Ivy’s mom is named Willow after the willow tree, and another member of their herd is Maple after maple trees. The giraffe care team at Animal Kingdom came up with a list of 12 tree-themed names until they settled on Ivy! Ivy and her mom, Willow Animal Kingdom welcomed another baby giraffe last year — Tucker. Tucker quickly became a popular new addition to the African savanna. He would often be seen with their shared dad out on the savanna. ©Disney Masai giraffes are classified as endangered by the International Union for Conservation of Nature, and there are only around 30,000 left in the wild — that’s why it’s so exciting that new Masai giraffes are being born at Animal Kingdom. Ivy’s birth adds to the Masai giraffe family tree, keeping the population healthy and thriving so little ones can keep towering over the savanna for generations to come. Hi, Ivy!
