  1. A brand-new, billion-dollar resort is opening soon near Disney World. ©Evermore Orlando Resort There is a lifelong debate when planning a trip to Disney World whether you stay on property, at a Disney World Resort hotel, or off property. But with a new family-focused, beach-front (yep, in the middle of Orlando!), billion-dollar resort opening, the choice becomes even harder! And for a billion dollars to build it, we would hope to find some pretty sweet accommodations there. Let’s take a look at what’s coming to the Evermore Resort! The Evermore Resort has begun taking reservations for its opening date, January 1st, 2024, and later. It’s a massive resort “with 2,013 bedrooms throughout 69 houses ranging in size from five to eleven bedrooms; 206 four-bedroom flats; and 41 two- and four-bedroom villas,” according to a recent announcement. And it features its very own private beach, in the middle of Orlando. ©Evermore Orlando Resort If you would like to stay in a more traditional hotel room, the Conrad Orlando is also available with 433 rooms, including suites and family suites. The Conrad Orlando is also booking rooms for their opening date of January 9th, 2024, and beyond. ©Dart Interests | Conrad Hotel Concept Art But other than the rooms, what else will you be able to experience at this resort? Well, for starters, the whole resort circles an 8-acre, crystal-clear lagoon, which furnishes its beaches to the resort. You can rent paddleboards and kayaks to explore the lake, hang out in a hammock for some quiet, relaxing time, or swing off a rope into the 12-foot-deep Blue Hole. There are TONS of water activities and rentals for you at the beachside resort. ©Evermore Resort You can also enjoy lawn games, live music, Bayside Bashes, Bayside Blockbusters, and private fires. Enjoy your creative side with sand art, DIY lightsabers, gardening, natural creative classes, and so much more! ©Evermore Resort There are activities for adults and for kids of all ages. Learn how to be a Jedi, encounter cool animals, and build a fort. Hang out at the bar or participate in one of their many group exercise classes. We could go on and on about all the different activities coming to the resort, but we know this post has to end eventually! ©Evermore Resort If you’re a golfer, they will have “visually captivating Jack Nicklaus-designed golf courses.” Bars, restaurants, and the Evermore Bay will all be accessible during your stay. There’s an endless amount of fun to be had at this new resort (who even needs Disney World?!). ©Evermore Orlando Resort But if you do decide to venture to the House of Mouse, you’re only a quick 15-minute drive to the Transportation and Ticket Center to catch the Monorail to Magic Kingdom or EPCOT. Transportation and Ticket Center Honestly, this resort looks and sounds AMAZING. It is geared toward families and larger groups, giving them a luxurious and comfortable stay while they are visiting the area. We can’t wait to experience it. 3. Driving to Disney World is a norm for many, but for some of you, it might sound like one of the worst things imaginable. Disney World Long road trips aren’t for everyone, but there are times when they could be more ideal. Plus, booking plane tickets and getting through the airports and your flight in one piece is a dreaded experience in itself. If you’re exploring the idea of driving to Disney World in 2024, we have something that might encourage you to take that leap. According to WSILTV News3, gas prices are set to continue to fall in 2024 — for the second year in a row. Analysts believe that the average gas prices across the United States will average $3.38 per day in 2024, a drop from 2023’s average of $3.51 per day. Disney World entrance sign They go on to say that Americans will spend as much as $32 billion LESS in 2024 on fuel. So, what does this mean for us travelers? Well, driving to Disney World was already (in most cases) cheaper than flying. In 2024, it will be even cheaper, based on these predictions. Driving to Disney World could be a smarter financial decision in 2024 This truly adds to the list of reasons why it might be more ideal to skip the whole plane and airport ideal. When you take into consideration the amount of time it takes to drive to the airport, check in, check your bags, wander through the airport, board the plane, fly, de-board, grab your luggage, and then arrange transportation to Disney World, it might take up the same amount of time that it would take to drive. Plus, you won’t have to worry about delays, cancellations, or issues like the ongoing pilot shortage. Air travel can be really hard However, there are some things to consider when choosing whether or not to drive. For starters, 2 new law updates have been introduced in Florida that could affect your trip. Plus, you have to think about the money that you’ll then be spending on parking at the parks (if you choose to drive yourself around property, too). Consider parking prices, too! 6. The end of the year is almost here, and we’re ready to kick 2023 to the curb. BoardWalk Deli We’ve had a lot of amazing food this year, most recently at the EPCOT Festival of the Holidays. We’ve also had some great holiday snacks. But it’s a New Year, New You (or New Us in this case), so the first of the 2024 snacks are starting to pop up in Disney World, and we just tried one of the first! This new snack can be found at BoardWalk Deli at Disney’s Boardwalk Inn. This isn’t necessarily a NEW snack because the Mickey Brownie has been here for a while. However, this NEW Mickey Brownie got a little bit of a 2024 upgrade and is now topped with dark chocolate ganache, sprinkles, and “2024” icing. Yes, you can tell that the “2024” is hand-lettered, but hey, it looks way better than what we could do! You need some steady hands to fit those numbers on that treat — we’re impressed. 2024 Mickey Brownie We’re going to tell you right now that if you love chocolate, you will WANT this brownie. It’s soft and maybe not the BEST brownie we’ve ever had (mostly because we prefer fudgy brownies over cake-like brownies), but the ganache on top was INCREDIBLE and that completely sold us on this one. The ganache on this thing is SO good The ganache adds a nice dark chocolate flavor, making this a brownie that’s rich and decadent but not too sweet. The sprinkles are also a fun touch and add a nice crunch to each bite. It’s honestly a great brownie, and if you’re in the area and need a quick chocolate fix, it’s worth picking up. Not as fudgy as we like, but it’s still good If you’re looking to get your hands on this treat, it’s available now for $5.79, which isn’t a bad deal at all. A great rich snack for under $6 in Disney World? Okay, we’ll come back for you, 2024 Mickey Brownie, for as long as you’re around. We’ll be trying even more new treats in Disney World soon, so stay tuned to DFB for more reviews. WE KNOW – there are SO many great snacks at Disney World! 7. We’re in the middle of the winter season and with the chill comes seasonal colds. Magic Kingdom Unfortunately, people across the country are seeing an increase in sickness. According to the LA Times, about 23% of people who participated in a text message survey in Los Angeles County have experienced “a cough or shortness of breath for the week that ended Dec. 10.” This is up 2% from the late summer surge of respiratory illness. During a lull in sickness, the percentage was only 10%. And COVID-19 numbers are higher now than they have been in other months, as well. This surge is not secluded only to California, rates are higher everywhere. So here are some tips for how you can avoid getting sick on your Disney vacation. If you decide to take a trip to Disney, you are acknowledging and accepting that you may get sick. There are so many people from all over the country and world in the parks, it’s a very likely possibility. But we have a few tips for avoiding it as best you can and a couple of things you can do if you end up sick on your trip. Wash Your Hands Disney World and Disneyland are full of people, even on the least busy days of the year. That’s why it is especially important to wash your hands regularly throughout the day. Journey of Water Restroom Washing your hands for at least 20 seconds with soap and water can drastically reduce the number of germs, bacteria, and viruses that are spread. It’s important to keep your hands clean, especially before eating, so any of the nasty germs that you’ve picked up on the rides don’t enter your system and cause you to get sick. Avoid Touching Handrails In any Disney park, on any coast or continent, it’s nearly impossible to not touch the same things as thousands of other people. Every time you get on a ride, chances are you’re touching a part of it that every other person that came before you touched (this is why hand washing is SO important). But when you can avoid it, we recommend it! Look at all those people touching everything! We don’t want to creep you out but think about all the potentially sick people who are touching the rails, the harnesses, the seats, and all the things on every ride that you are also touching. Seriously, try to only touch the things you NEED to touch (and then go wash your hands!). Keep Space From Others We’re not saying go back to COVID-19 standards, here. And we know that on busy days (or nearly any day) in a park, it’s hard to stay away from other people. But, if you can, maintain a little distance from the people around you –you could be doing your immune system a favor. We understand that it’s difficult to avoid people when the park looks like this! When you’re in line, stay back a bit from the person in front of you. If you’re waiting for a show, stay off to the side, away from others. You get the idea, just do your best to not get too close to the other guests. Cover Your Mouth Sometimes, though, getting sick at the parks is simply unavoidable. When you’re around such a large crowd of people, chances are that it’s going to happen. If that is the case, please remember to cover your mouth and nose when you cough. Health and Safety Reminders Coughing into the crook of your elbow is a good way to make sure you’re fully covered. We’re not saying to wear a mask, but at least have the courtesy to not cough on others. And remember, wash your hands! Health Care Services If you do end up sick in Disney, there are several places you can go if you need to see a healthcare specialist. In Disney World and Disneyland, all the parks have registered nurses available for first aid, quick remedies, and over-the-counter medications. You can check with Guest Relations on where to find the First Aid Center in the park you’re visiting. Magic Kingdom First Aid Center And if something REALLY bad happens on your vacation (we hope it doesn’t!!), Disney World has a brand-new emergency hospital that is amazing! The AdventHealth emergency room is the place we would want to be taken to if we ever needed a trip to the ER. They even have DoleWhip there! Advent Health ER Lobby We hope no one in your party ever has to see the inside of the ER at Disney World, but it is comforting to know it’s there. Please, stay safe and healthy on your trip, whether it’s to Disney World or Disneyland! And keep following DFB for more Disney news! 9. The future of The Walt Disney Company lies within streaming. Disney World At least, that’s what Bob Iger said when he shared that streaming and transforming Disney+ was his main priority as he continues his leadership as the CEO of Disney. At the final quarterly earnings call of 2023, Iger shared that Disney+ increased domestic subscribers by 7 million, and the company is set to profit from the platform for the first time since before the pandemic by the end of 2024. Disney+ isn’t the only thing on Disney’s radar, though, as they recently acquired the remainder of shares in Hulu, and could branch out further. Now, folks are making predictions regarding the future of streaming — and we found some of them to be interesting. CNBC interviewed 13 (anonymous) former and current entertainment, media, and sports executives at major companies to share their predictions on the successes and downfalls of media giants in 2024. Within those predictions were thoughts on the future of streaming, and Disney was mentioned a few times. Prediction 1: NBA rights will go to Disney, Warner Bros. Discovery, and/or Apple The National Basketball Association (NBA) is aiming to hand off media rights, which is being closely followed by sports fans, executives, and analysts everywhere. One executive predicts that media rights will be given to Disney and Warner Bros. Discovery, who have already shown interest in “maintaining carriage relationships” with the NBA and have expressed that they’re financially prepared to take on the job. Mickey and Minnie However, the NBA has mentioned that they’re looking for a “robust streaming option,” which is where Apple would make sense, according to this exec. Prediction 2: The College Football Playoff won’t get a rights fee increase, because ESPN will be the only significant bidder. Similar to the NBA situation, the College Football Playoff (CFP) “may be the next most important rights deal to be renewed next year. The CFP is currently under a 12-year contract with ESPN, which ends after the 2025 playoff. ©ESPN After the 2025 playoff, the CFP will expand from four teams to 12, which the CFP is hoping will sound enticing to major sports broadcasting companies — and is seeking a hefty price for media rights. However, this executive predicts that because of ESPN’s “desperation” for live rights as they pivot to utilizing a direct-to-consumer service, ESPN will be the highest bidder, and CFP won’t get as much for media rights as they were hoping. Prediction #3: Warner Bros. Discovery’s Max, Netflix, and Disney will offer the first significant streaming bundle. Media execs and analysts have predicted for years that companies will eventually partner up to offer a significant streaming bundle that’s offered similar to the way channels are offered on traditional cable TV. However, this has yet to happen. One exec thinks that 2024 will be the year that it does! ©Netflix They say that 2024 will be the year that we see Disney partner with Max and Netflix to offer one big streaming bundle that includes the two latter platforms as well as Disney+, ESPN+, and Hulu — at a discount. However, a separate exec chimed in here and said that if this discount were to happen, a separate anchor distributor would have to step in. They mentioned Amazon as the key distributor, here. And there you have it! We’ll continue to keep you updated with more Disney news, so make sure to follow along so that you’re always in the loop. Looking for more 2024 predictions? Click here! 11. We are only a few days away from the New Year! Disney’s new park pass reservation rules will be in effect on January 9th, 2024, and with that is coming a slight change to virtual queues. TRON Lightcycle / Run Now that people with date-based tickets will NOT need to make a park reservation, they will be able to book a virtual queue for any ride with one in either park (Magic Kingdom and EPCOT, currently) at the 7AM drop. Currently, TRON Lightcycle / Run in Magic Kingdom and Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind in EPCOT are the only two rides with virtual queues. But will they be sticking around and could we see others join the lineup? Here are our thoughts. Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind We’re going to start with the very popular ride in EPCOT. This new ride opened in 2022 and has continued to have a virtual queue since then. And truthfully, we don’t see that going away any time soon. Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind This super cool roller-coaster has continued to be a hot ticket item (and for good reason). With as popular as it is and the fact that there are currently no new rides slotted to open in EPCOT, we’re guessing we’ll be seeing the virtual queue stick around in 2024 for our trusty heroes. However, the ride is going on 2 years old, so perhaps the virtual queue could go away similar to how Rise of the Resistance‘s did after a few years. TRON Lightcycle / Run TRON just opened this year, in 2023, but we have a feeling that the virtual queue for this ride may be going away sometime in 2024. TRON Lightcycle / Run We wonder if Disney gave us a little hint about the virtual queue going away when they announced that it will be removed during the upcoming After Hours events in 2024. During the events in Magic Kingdom, you won’t have to snag a boarding group, you can just enter the standby line. Perhaps this will be a test run to see how it would go if they removed it. TRON Lightcycle / Run We also have a feeling it could go away when a highly anticipated new ride coming to Magic Kingdom opens in 2024. Up to this point, we’ve only seen one ride per park with a virtual queue. So perhaps if the new ride gets a virtual queue, then the TRON standby line will be used instead. It is a much newer ride than Guardian’s but this just seems to make sense with a new attraction slotted to open in 2024. Tiana’s Bayou Adventure Tiana’s Bayou Adventure is the new, highly anticipated ride coming to Magic Kingdom in 2024. Since we are all so curious about the ride that is replacing a classic and favorite ride, we’re guessing Disney expecting it to be very busy. This makes us believe it is a very good candidate to get a virtual queue. Tiana’s Bayou Adventure construction If Tiana’s Bayou Adventure gets a virtual queue, like we’re expecting it to, then we’re guessing that TRON’s will go away. But we will have to just wait a few more months to officially find out! Until then, keep following DFB for more Disney news! Join the DFB Newsletter to get all the breaking news right in your inbox! 12. Traveling can be stressful for everyone. Air travel can be really hard However, it can be especially stressful for those traveling with young kids or large families. While they do often get extra time to board, the actual plane ride itself can be very difficult for younger kids. It can also be difficult for YOU if you’re seated around young children. And one of the most frustrating things that can happen is when a child is contiually kicking the back of your seat. Yeah, we’ve been there, too. So HOW do you handle it without coming off as mean, or without reprimanding someone else’s child — which just never really goes well? We thought we’d bring you a couple of ideas. Patience goes a LONG way Yes, it’s annoying as all get out. Yes, it could be disturbing your rest, your work, or just your relaxing start to your vacation. But we always put on our patience pants when we’re headed for a day of air travel, and we hope you do, too. Chances are good that as soon as an adult with the child notices the kicking, they’ll put a stop to it. So take a deep breath and give it a few minutes. Other airline passengers can be a source of stress on your flight. If the kicking continues… If you don’t hear an adult asking the child to stop and the kicking continues, kill them with kindness, as the old saying goes. As Flight Attendant Susan Marks told CN Traveler, “Parents know their kids are being disruptive. It only adds fuel to the fire if another passenger jumps in and reiterates that to the parent as if they weren’t already aware.” Turn around and smile at the parent and the child. That should signal that you’re very aware of the child’s presence and actions, and perhaps prompt the adult to reiterate that the child should stop. @JetBlue Airways Help out a parent in the trenches If the adult with the kicking child seems to be struggling with managing the situation, you may want to offer help or a distraction if you’re comfortable doing so. Do you have keys that jangle that a baby may enjoy? What about some extra paper to make a paper airplane, or do you have any items you brought for your own child that they’re not using? ©Southwest At your wits’ end? If the kicking continues with no end in sight, then it’s time to get a flight attendant involved. Night flights sometimes aren’t any easier Flight attendants are trained to handle all kinds of disturbances, and will be able to address the parent and/or child with kindness and empathy. They may also be able to offer distractions, such as a small toy or a blanket to make the child more comoftable. Sunset on a Southwest plane It’s important to avoid escalating and getting flight attendants involved unless it’s being used as a last resort. As we said earlier, while a disruptive child is hard to deal with on the flight, 90% of the time the child’s parent is just as stressed, if not more stressed, than you are. A little empathy and understanding can go a long way! ©Delta Looking for more recent travel news? Check out these recent posts! More Travel Posts! 15. Traveling by airplane can be stressful. It’s not too hard to get caught up in flight changes and cancellations, gathering everyone and everything traveling with you and trying to make sure you’re as prepared as possible to make getting on the plane as smooth of a transition as can be. While we’re still waiting on developments that would help make security screening easier (and potentially faster), accidents still can happen. ©Getty Images If you’ve ever been traveling by airplane only to get to your seat and realize that you’re missing something you may have thought “Well, that’s it; I’ll never find it now.” However, we’re here to help you learn who is the BEST source to reach out to when these things happen and how to go about reclaiming your lost items. It’s not the most ideal situation but it happens more often than you think. Traveling with “all the things” at the airport is bound to reach a point where you could easily leave an item or two behind and not realize it until it’s too late. Checking In! So what do you do when you realize you’ve lost something while flying or going through the airport? Who do you reach out to? The answer is really pretty simple. Orlando International Airport TSA has set its own Lost and Found protocol. On their website, they’ve listed contacts for items left at TSA security checkpoints. Once you’re there to search, simply type in the airport code to bring up the correct contacts. This department is also able to assist in locating items missing from checked baggage. ©Orlando International Airport This site also has a full FAQ about lost items, how they’re handled, and how arrangements are made to reunite you with your belongings. Orlando International Airport can get very busy If you’ve realized that you’ve lost items in other areas of the airport (or have checked with TSA and been unable to locate your item further), they ask that you check the airport’s website for contact information for help in locating your items beyond their reach. 20. Disney World is our happy place. Disney World It’s fun, magical, and all things good — in most cases. However, making sure that things stay fun, magical, and good requires a bit of WORK. Yes, that means that sometimes, we have to do some no-fun things for the greater good. Sigh. It’s hard being a Disney adult. There are a few terrible, horrible things that we totally recommend in Disney World in 2024 to ensure that you have the BEST time possible. Before we begin, let us clarify that you can still have an awesome time at Disney World without doing any of these things at all. Without further ado, let’s jump right into the terrible things we recommend doing at Disney World in 2024! Waking up early to ensure you snag a virtual queue. Visiting Disney World is TIRING. This means it might be harder than usual to wake up bright-eyed and bushy-tailed. However, we totally recommend making sure that you’re up before 7AM each day to snag a virtual queue for Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind or TRON: Lightcycle/Run. TRON: Lightcycle / Run After January 9th, if you don’t get one of them, you can try again for the other, and just decide based on that which park to visit. Spending a pretty penny on Genie+. Disney World’s skip-the-line service, Genie+, operates based on surge pricing. This means that the service could be as expensive as Disney deems fit — based on crowd predictions and demand. Genie+ Although it’s pricey, and has even reached $39 per person during the holiday season, we recommend it in many scenarios. It’s often the only way to experience everything Disney World has to offer if you’re visiting for less than four full days. Visiting the parks in the rain. Rain comes often at Disney World, especially in the summer and fall. The almost-daily rain showers drive a lot of folks out of the parks for a while so that they can stay dry. Rain on Main Street That makes the rainy hours the BEST times to visit indoor rides! While the outdoor rides will often close, the indoor rides are often still operating — with shorter lines because everyone else headed back to the hotel. Splurging on a fireworks cruise. Fireworks cruises are a great way to experience the fireworks at Magic Kingdom and EPCOT in a new way! You can book private cruises where a Cast Member will take you and your crew on a boat where you can watch the fireworks alone. Fireworks Cruise Plus, the cruise usually involves some special snacks and drinks! It’s a bit pricy, but a GREAT experience. Plastic cheese. Listen, don’t knock the orange sludge on all your food until you try it, okay? Plastic Cheese It’s delicious, and we will definitely be bringing it into 2024 with us, and you should too. We’ll be sure to keep you updated with more Disney news and advice, so make sure to follow along so that you never miss a thing and are always in the loop. Looking for more Disney tips for 2024? 21. It’s hard to believe, but the holiday season at Disney World will soon be over, and we’ll be ringing in 2024. Disney World entrance sign Now, we already know that a LOT of changes will be happening in Disney World in 2024: Park Pass reservations are going away for most visitors, park hopping is returning to normal, and the Disney Dining Plan will be back. However, do you know about two new laws that will be going into effect in Florida in 2024, too? Well, don’t worry; we’re here to fill you in. Thanks to ClickOrlando, we have a full list of new laws that will be going into effect as of January 1st, 2024. Granted, many of these new laws might not affect you if you’re just visiting Disney World in 2024, but you should probably be made aware of them, just in case. Walt Disney World Railroad Main Street station First, there has been a revision to the law concerning campsite rules in Florida’s state parks. Florida residents can now make reservations for campsites and cabins up to 11 months in advance, but they must provide the number from their Florida ID card or driver’s license. Those who do NOT live in Florida can make reservations up to 10 months in advance. The Fort Wilderness Campsite Florida’s “Move Over Law” has expanded and may affect those driving in Florida. The law already requires drivers to move over a lane (if it is safe to do so) for law enforcement, emergency workers, sanitation crews, etc. The law will expand to include vehicles that have stopped on the road, including vehicles with hazard lights on, vehicles using emergency flares or signs, and any vehicle stopped with at least one person visibly with it. 24. Okay, y’all, we are DAYS away from 2024 — and we have some advice for you. Fireworks! We have reporters in the parks every single day, so we learn what some big mistakes are very quickly– by making them ourselves. With the New Year right around the corner, we want to share some of those mistakes with you so you can avoid them! Since Disney trips take a lot of planning and preparation, we want to give you all the tools you need to have the BEST trip ever — even if that means admitting to our mistakes. It is human to forget things, make mistakes, and feel overwhelmed. We get it, we’ve been there. It’s okay to take a step back, take a deep breath, and let us tell you about mistakes that you can avoid in the parks in 2024! Not Paying Attention to Park Hours Park hours at Disney World can make or break your trip. They are the one thing that determines how long you officially can spend in a park and may be one of the most important things to pay attention to. Cinderella Castle at Magic Kingdom However, you want to keep an eye on the park hours as your trip gets closer. Disney reserves the right to change their operating hours whenever they’d like, for whatever reason. This can either be something that is really great or something that can cut hours from your park day. ©Disney Park Hours for January 2024 at Magic Kingdom! Let’s talk about the bad side of this first. There are many events at Disney World throughout the year– and sometimes those can be added into the calendar after you booked your trip. This means that the parks close early to make time for those different events. This can be done for anything from cast member appreciation days to someone booking out the entire park. Whatever the reason, it is good practice to keep checking on the park hours for the date of your trip every once and a while. Usually, Animal Kingdom is closed early– but not tonight! On the flip side of that, this could benefit you! They don’t only shorten hours at Disney World, they also extend them! Sometimes Disney will change the operating hours on the calendar to extend how long you’re allowed to be in the parks– no extra ticket needed. This could add tons of extra time to your day and allow you to do so many other magical things. Your Ultimate 1-Day Plan For Magic Kingdom Not Keeping an Eye Out for Closures Every so often things will close at Disney World. Whether it is for a major refurbishment, a retheme, or a smaller refurbishment– things close all the time, and sometimes with little warning. This goes for attractions, transportation, shows, resorts, and more. They do this to keep things fresh for you and to ultimately improve the vacation experience as a whole. However, these shutdowns and refurbishments can make a BIG impact on your vacation. Refurbishments on the Grand Floridian One of the biggest closures that is currently happening and will continue into 2024 is Splash Mountain since they are re-theming it to Tiana’s Bayou Adventure at Magic Kingdom. They plan to open this attraction in late 2024 for all of us to enjoy! Another closure happening in the parks in 2024 is Kali River Rapids at Animal Kingdom. This attraction is set to temporarily close on January 8th for a refurbishment, and we are unsure of when it will reopen. There are other attraction closures set to happen at some point in 2024, and we’ll share more information as we hear it. Splash Mountain closed for a complete overhaul into Tiana’s Bayou Adventure! Closures don’t only impact attractions. Keep an eye out for transportation closures, resort closures (or other construction work), and the water parks. The water parks will close if the weather is too cold, so if you’re looking to take a trip during the colder months make sure you keep your eyes out for that! A List of 50 Restaurants and Attractions That Close EARLY in Disney World Overspending on Your Hotel This is one of our favorite tips from 2023, so we knew we had to bring it back for 2024. The Polynesian Village Resort Disney World is an expensive vacation. If you’re planning on spending the majority of the time in the parks, maybe booking a super expensive deluxe hotel may not be the best option. There are a ton of “moderate” and “value” hotels on property that can save you hundreds — or even thousands of dollars that you could use elsewhere. You may not have as many different dining, entertainment, or swimming options — but you’ll still have some and you won’t feel guilty for using your hotel room just for sleeping and showering. Deluxe resorts are beautiful and an amazing experience, so if you think it is worth it, please do! However, if you’re not planning to spend a lot of time there, a moderate or value resort may give you the best bang for your buck. The PROS And CONS Of Staying At Disney World’s Value Resorts Buying Genie+ for EVERY Park Day We love Genie+ and appreciate the service when it is a busy park day or a peak season. However, there are some days when Genie+ isn’t necessary, and it is important to keep those things in mind. Not buying Genie+ Could save you tons of money — especially if you’re traveling with a big group of people. ©Disney Genie+ is great for a busy park day at Magic Kingdom so you don’t need to wait in those long lines. However, if you’re in a park like Disney’s Animal Kingdom, it may not be super necessary. We tend to notice that the wait times may be longer for some of the major attractions, like Flight of Passage, but for the most part, you can get on every attraction without too much of a wait. Of course, this is all personal preference, and if you want to bypass every line at every park– go for it! Don’t Make My Mistake. These Are the Days When Disney Genie+ is a Waste of Money. Wearing Uncomfortable Clothing Spending an entire day outside in the Florida heat can take a toll on you — especially if you’re wearing the wrong clothes. A sunny day in Magic Kingdom! By wrong clothes, we mean things like high heels, uncomfortable fabrics (we’re looking at you, denim), and things that may cause you general discomfort throughout the day. We have found tons of ways to be cute while at the parks — even in athletic wear. Wearing the wrong clothing can make or break your trip to Disney so make sure you’re choosing the best outfit options for you in the hot Florida sun. A beautiful, sunny day! We really want to highlight shoes here. You spend a ton of time walking around at Disney World, and wearing the wrong pair of shoes can really ruin your day. Make sure you bring broken-in, comfortable shoes to wear in the parks. Don’t forget those extra socks, too — the rain can come at any time! We Wore Crocs in Disney World All Day. Here’s What Happened. Not Preparing for Rain Florida and rain are almost synonymous at this point. Stitch came prepared Spending time in Florida means that you’ll encounter a random mid-day thunderstorm at some point during your trip, and it is important to be prepared for that. This means having a poncho, extra socks, and possibly some waterproof shoes. It is impossible to avoid the discomfort of being rained on completely, but having these things with you will make a good jumping-off point to being prepared for the rain. Throw on those ponchos and continue walking around the park and heading to rides (keep in mind, outdoor attractions are closed for inclement weather!) while everyone else is hiding in shops to avoid the rain and spending $20 on one poncho. 25. It’s been just over a year since Bob Iger returned to The Walt Disney Company as CEO. ©Disney When he returned, he made it clear that his leadership within the company wouldn’t last forever. However, he did promise that he would be involved in the search and training of his successor — the person who would take over as CEO after Bob Iger’s (updated) contract ends in 2026. Bob Iger’s successor is a major concern not only for Disney fans, but for company stakeholders and investors in The Walt Disney brand. Well, media executives are now chiming in with their predictions for who they think the successor could be. After speaking with 13 former and current media executives, CNBC reported their predictions for Iger’s successor. The executives chose to remain anonymous, but these three predictions still captured our interest. Let’s talk about it! Prediction #1: Iger will extend his contract. Whew! One executive shared that they believe that Iger will extend his contract past 2026, despite his claims that he would walk away from the company “forever” once his contract ended. However, we’re not sure whether or not we should put all our faith in that statement, as Iger has extended his contract as CEO five different times. ©MasterClass And yes, in 2021, when he was passing on the baton to Bob Chapek, he declared he was done for good, too. We see how that went! The executive who predicted that Iger will once again extend his contract said, “Fool me five times, shame on me.” They also went on to say that Iger is the one person who has the ability to understand and lead the company with a steady hand. Prediction #2: Dana Walden will succeed Iger. Dana Walden currently serves as the co-chairman of Disney Entertainment. Many (and not just this executive) believe that Iger will choose Walden as his successor before he moves back into a chairman role — just like he did when Chapek took over in 2020. ©Disney The executive shared that they believe the announcement that Walden will take over will come in late 2024, even though reports in September stated that the successor would probably be announced in 2025 so that the upcoming CEO has ample time to prepare. Prediction #3: Disney will buy Cable Media and Kevin Mayer will take over as CEO. Kevin Mayer, who once worked as the Chairman of Direct-to-Consumer and International segment, stepped down in May of 2020 as Rebecca Campbell was given control over the role. He went on to become the CEO of TikTok and then the CEO of privately-held Candle Media.
