  2. Vacationers and travelers alike use a variety of methods to book their next trip. Making travel plans has become easier than ever with secondary sites having all the details conveniently in one place. Cinderella Castle You can go to each website directly to book hotels, airfare, and rental cars, or you can book all of them right on one travel marketplace website like Booking.com. Regardless of where you’re making all your reservations, it’s important to keep the security of your personal information in mind. Unfortunately, there have been multiple incidents of scamming reported by people who have booked trips through Booking.com. According to The Sunday Morning Herald Traveller, an Australian news source, many Booking.com customers have been receiving phishing messages and scamming emails since November. And the number increased sevenfold last year, in 2023, according to The Australian Competition and Consumer Commission’s (ACCC) Scamwatch program. ©Booking.com The ACCC program shared that there were 363 scamming reports related to Booking.com between January 2nd and December 31st, 2023. These reports showed losses of more than $337,000. This is compared to the reported 53 reports in 2022. The customers have received sophisticated emails that appear to be from the accommodation partner requesting information to keep their current reservation. Accounts of the phishing scandals were that they were very believable. ©Booking.com 2023 Booking.com shared that their platform had not been breached, but that many of their accommodation partners were being targeted by scammers to try to take over the host’s computer system. The scammers then impersonated the accommodation partners and tricked the guests into giving financial information. ©SpringHill Suites Orlando | Disney The Booking.com spokesperson shared, “We understand the importance of keeping the data we are entrusted with secure. That’s why we continue to make significant investments to limit the impact and have put new measures and alerts in place to update and protect our customers, as well as our accommodation partners.” They continued with what a customer can do if they have questions, stating, “If a customer ever has any concerns about a payment message, we encourage them to first carefully check the payment policy details outlined on the property listing page and in their booking confirmation.” Drury Plaza Hotel near Disney Springs If you notice a suspicious email after booking your vacation here are some steps you can take to avoid being scammed. Contact customer service via the booking website or by clicking “report an issue” on Booking.com Verify the email through the accommodation’s website Contact the hotel via phone using a number directly from their website (not from the received email) Using the Booking.com app or website through your account to confirm and verify your information and itinerary It’s also good to remember that no legitimate hotel or accommodation will ever have you send sensitive information such as credit card numbers through emails, chat messaging, text, or generally over the phone. ©Marriott If you’re ever unsure if the email you’ve received is legitimate, it’s better to be safe than sorry. 5. 2023 wasn’t the best year for Disney at the box office, but we’ve got our fingers crossed for 2024! AMC Theaters Between Inside Out 2, Deadpool 3, and Mufasa: The Lion King, there are likely to be lots of Disney fans in the theaters this year. We’ve been looking forward to learning more about these upcoming films, and we could get new trailers VERY soon! Deadline reports that it’s likely we’ll get a trailer for Inside Out 2 during the Super Bowl this year. It’s also possible that we see the first trailer for Deadpool 3 during one of the big game’s commercial breaks. ©Disney Disney has traditionally used its commercial spots during the Super Bowl to showcase upcoming Pixar and Marvel releases. This year, the company has a much smaller theatrical release schedule due to production delays from the writer and actor strikes, so the trailer options for Disney are more limited. ©Marvel Besides Disney, other major studios could drop some trailers as well. Deadline predicts that we could see footage from A Quiet Place: Day One, Kung Fu Panda 4, Dune: Part Two, or Despicable Me 4. It looks like it’s going to be a big year for cinema in general! ©Illumination We’ll keep you in the loop with any more Disney movie news, so stay tuned to DFB. 6. Disney World can be magical. Magic Kingdom It’s definitely a place where dreams come true and magical moments are around every corner. But there are a few habits that some visitors just can’t seem to kick. So let’s go over a couple of things we’re hoping to never see done again in Disney World. Let’s talk about a couple of things we’re begging you to stop doing in Disney World in 2024. Stop Trying to Park at a Hotel to Get Closer to Magic Kingdom Look, we get it — the excitement is real, and everyone wants to skip to the good stuff ASAP and make the most of their Disney experience. But trying to snag a parking spot at a nearby hotel to shave a few minutes off your journey to Magic Kingdom — not cool. Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort Disney’s got plenty of parking options, and trying to game the system just adds stress. Let’s all play by the rules and keep the magic alive. TTC Parking Lot Enough with the Rope Drop Madness The early bird catches the worm, as they say. But at Disney World, you might just find that all the early bird catches are a crowd of fellow rope-droppers, turning the peaceful opening moment into a frenzied race. Hollywood Studios entrance crowds at rope drop Instead of fighting for position in the early morning rush, how about stacking some Genie+ lightning lanes for the evening? This way, you’ll get to enjoy a more relaxed start to your day without missing out on those epic rides. Lightning Lane at Expedition Everest Keep the Budget Intact Sure, the magic is real, but the dent in your wallet can be real, too, if you’re not careful. Our best tip is to set a budget and stick to it. Patisserie a L’abricot There are plenty of affordable dining and souvenir options that won’t leave your bank account in a sorry state. Sticking to the budget means more cash for your next Disney adventure. Tiana’s Famous Beignets Clean Up After Yourselves It may seem like magic, but in case you didn’t know, fairies aren’t keeping Disney World spotless — it’s the hardworking staff. Cast Members creating magic Show some love and dispose of your trash properly. Let’s keep the park as clean and magical as it’s meant to be for everyone, including those unsung heroes making it happen behind the scenes. Seating area Quit Dining on Trash Can Tops Listen, we get it. Disney World has some delectable snacks. But turning trash can tops into makeshift tables? Not the most appetizing move. A prime dining spot for many But, if you must indulge in those tasty snacks on your makeshift table, do so while being aware of your surroundings. Please don’t block others from being able to toss their trash where it belongs. Trash Can Those are just a couple of the things we’re hoping you never do in Disney World this year. 8. If you’ve followed along with The Walt Disney Company news lately, then you’ve probably caught word of the annual shareholders meeting that will take place on April 3rd, 2023. ©Disney The meeting will highlight and discuss Disney’s financial performance as well as the strategic plans the Company has in place to better said performance. Plus, shareholders will have the opportunity to vote for the individuals to make up Disney’s next Board of Directors. By now, you’ve probably heard about Nelson Peltz and his activist investment group: Trian. He’s nominated himself to take a seat on Disney’s Board, has suggested his own plans for the future of Company finances, and will rival two other groups for those seats. Now, one of those groups has spoken up with their own plans for the future of The Walt Disney Company. The three main groups aiming for spots on Disney’s Board of Directors include Peltz’s Trian Group, Disney’s recommended group of 12 nominees, and then investment firm Blackwells Capital. While Blackwells does support Disney CEO Bob Iger’s leadership as well as the current Board, they are running for seats on the Board themselves and have some suggestions. Cinderella Castle in Magic Kingdom According to Variety, Blackwells officially filed its proxy statement for the 2024 shareholders meeting, and included a letter to Disney shareholders. Blackwell suggested that Disney could separate its owned real estate, which represents 44 percent of the conglomerate’s market capitalization. The real estate would be separated into independent publicly listed real estate investment trusts, or “a series of investment vehicles in which the shares, cash and/or interests could be distributed to shareholders.” Disney World Blackwells said in the letter, “Disney may simply be too complex for any one successor to Mr. Iger to manage holistically, and Blackwells believes that it is the responsibility of the board to oversee these types of analyses in the ordinary course.” ©PAUL SAKUMA/A.P. PHOTO (Obtained via Vanity Fair) This follows Peltz’s suggestion to focus on streaming (Bob Iger’s priority) and to combine ESPN+ with Netflix to become a preeminent, accessible sports streaming platform. Further, Peltz wishes to essentially upheave the current Board and bring in more “outsiders” so that the Board isn’t strictly made up of Iger and his pals, to put it simply. Peltz nominated himself (many times) as well as former Disney CFO Jay Rasulo for seats on the Board, and has also solicited endorsement from Elon Musk. Iger has had recent battles with Musk after Disney removed all company advertisements from X after Musk left antisemitic comments in a thread. ©Getty Images Regarding this, Blackwells Chief Investment Officer Jason Aintabi said, “Mr. Peltz has requested a seat on Disney’s board no less than 24 times in the last year and half. During that time, Mr. Peltz has not offered a single strategic idea that would benefit shareholders… Begging for board seats is not a strategy that will make any money for shareholders.” Mickey and Pals at Cinderella Castle Regarding Musk, Aintabi continued by saying, “[Peltz] seems to focus his efforts on soliciting endorsements from Elon Musk — who doesn’t own a single Disney share, and is aggrieved at Disney for withholding advertising dollars from his struggling social media platform. These are not winning strategies for Disney shareholders.” We tune in to shareholder calls each year, and we’re intrigued to see what comes of this year’s. We will be the first to let you know of any updates, and will continue monitoring for more statements regarding the Board of Directors and shareholder call in the meantime. 9. There are a few days out of the year that we all expect Disney World to be busy. Cinderella Castle Those are days like New Year’s Eve, Christmas, Thanksgiving, and other major holidays. While those days are expected to be busy, other days can randomly pop up on the calendar that bring large crowds. And speaking of random days, we thought we would give you a heads-up on two upcoming days that you’ll want to be aware of! The week of February 5th through February 11th is likely going to be a bit busier. This week, there is the UCA National High School Cheerleading Championship competition weekend at the ESPN Wide World of Sports in Disney World! That means lots of spectators and competitors will be headed to the parks. ESPN Wide World of Sports While date-based tickets no longer need park reservations, any ticket that is not date-based still requires a reservation to enter the Disney parks. Because of this, we keep track of which days are selling out for those non-date-based tickets, and the weekend of February 10th and 11th are selling out! Currently, EPCOT is sold out on Saturday, February 10th for both general theme park tickets and resort hotel tickets. ©Disney When we had checked previously, both Saturday and Sunday were sold out for all four parks, and Friday the 9th was sold out for some parks. Since today is showing more availability, Disney likely added more reservations for those days, but that doesn’t mean they won’t sell out again! Previously, the dates were sold out! ©Disney If you’re looking to get into the parks and have either an Annual Pass or a non-date-based ticket, you’ll want to hurry to make your park reservation! Lots of people are hoping to go to the parks this weekend, so grab those passes now. EPCOT Even if you get a reservation at one park, you can hop to any other park at any time if you’ve purchased the Park Hopper or Park Hopper Plus ticket option! This doesn’t guarantee entrance into a park, though, if it’s filled to capacity. But if you don’t get a reservation to EPCOT, don’t worry, you may still be able to visit the park. 13. We’re always looking for ways to keep from totally blowing our budget while on vacation at Disney World. The whole meal Making sure you’re as prepared for your Disney World trip as possible can come with its challenges. How do you know if everyone you’re traveling with is going to find something they like at the restaurants you choose? We decided to venture out of the parks in search of a worthy meal that could please multigenerational families with one swift experience, and we think this restaurant truly nailed it! Sebastian’s Bistro is nestled along the backside of the check-in building that houses Centertown Market at Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort. Its building is also attached to the neighboring Banana Cabana Pool Bar & Lounge. This moderately priced meal is served family style (meaning they have a set menu that’s brought out to your table and you can ask for more servings as your meal progresses) with a few appetizers to get you started, enhancements to add on to your meal, several beverage options, and all of this will wind down your dining experience with an included dessert. Sebastian’s Bistro We were looking for a fun night out with a tropical atmosphere. It had been a while since our last meal here, so we decided we would try it out to see if our experience could change! Atmosphere The vibe here is very light, and upbeat. There are lots of bright pastel colors set against some bolder tones (like red for Sebastian the crab) that really are aesthetically pleasing and make sense for the theme this restaurant is trying to convey. Inside the dining room As we stepped in through the entranceway we were greeted by several servers waiting to take on the next parties and noticed a bathroom by the end of the hall directly ahead. We swooped to the left and wound around the dining room… Stepping into the restaurant … until we were seated at our table that was nestled up against a huge window. This window seat was fabulous for a few reasons; it gave us some really great lighting (for some great photos to share) and we got an incredible view of the sunsetting and the nightlights turning on as the sun went down. Our table Although we sat at a table, there was also booth seating… Booth seating … and tables capable of hosting larger parties altogether. The dining room was very large and featured high ceilings so it really may have appeared larger than it truly was (but it worked!). We also spotted a fun wall painting featuring the main crab himself! The overhead speakers played tropical-themed music and really helped add to the overall ambiance throughout the evening. Sebastian! After we were seated, we were offered a table setting with a main dinner plate, rolled silverware in a cloth napkin, and a smaller plate in anticipation of appetizers. Table setting Our server excused himself to grab the more extensive menus and a glass of water for us while we decided on what we’d like to eat (spoiler alert: that didn’t take long since it’s a family-style meal here). Menu We were given a main course menu that featured a few appetizer and beverage options… Menu … along with a few enhancements that could be paired with our meal. Display menu outside We were also offered a separate menu for beverages… Beverage menu … and wine selections. Wine menu As we mentioned before, this meal is served family-style, meaning the entree is brought out to your table and replenished as you request more things so that helped to narrow down our choices. However, there is an option called Harvest of the Caribbean that can be enjoyed if you would rather opt for the plant-based version of the meal. Either version of the main entree will cost you the same price of $38 for adults and $20 for children ages 3-9. This price will include all the appetizers, either version of the shared entree meal, and dessert. Ultimately we settled on the appetizers, an enhancement, a few drinks (alcoholic and non), and the Taste of the Caribbean entree with sides. We placed our meal and were quickly met with the start of our islander meal! Drinks The first things we requested to be brought out to the table were our drinks. We chose to order the Flounder of Reason Colada and the Caribbean Smuggler to give us a variety. Drinks! Let’s talk about the Flounder of Reason Colada first. This drink was non-alcoholic and was made of a frozen blend of pineapple, coconut, and banana layered with orange-flavored ice cream topped with whipped cream. This drink cost us $6.49. Flounder of Reason Colada This drink knocked it out of the park for us in all the best ways. The presentation between the yellow and light blue layers really could help you see the resemblance to Flounder, Ariel’s fishy friend from The Little Mermaid movies. So yummy It was a fun call back but the drink tasted even better than it looked. While it kept a nice blended frozen consistency throughout, the flavors just really helped to set this drink up for success. As a mock-tail, you still could taste the colada style of the pineapple and coconut but there were definitely notes of the banana that were noticeable. The orange-flavored ice cream gave it almost a float consistency as it melted and it was delicious. This could easily be a fun kid-friendly drink for anyone to enjoy! Then it was time to turn our sights to the Caribbean Smuggler. This alcoholic drink was made with Captain Morgan Original Spiced Rum and Parrot Bay Coconut Rum with cranberry and pineapple juices for $14. Caribbean Smuggler Listen, this drink is truly a rum runner’s dream. It wasn’t too heavy on the rum, but kept a smooth taste to it that didn’t leave an overly intrusive aftertaste in your throat. We’re the reason the rum is gone The spiced rum and coconut rum combo really complement each other mixed in this drink, and the pineapple garnish was a nice touch to the presentation. Eats Shortly after our drinks were brought out we were offered the appetizers that come with the meal. This meant we were brought out both the Buttery House-baked Pull-apart Rolls and The Spice Necklace Salad. Appetizers Ok, we’ve got to talk about this beautiful salad first! The Spice Necklace Salad is made of Mixed Greens and Kale with Spiced Candied Pumpkin Seeds, Tropical Fruit, and Radish with Key Lime Dressing. The Spice Necklace Salad You’re probably going to hear this a lot throughout this review but the presentation here was beautiful! the leafy greens were in different hues giving it great dimension, and we enjoyed their crunch against the sweet spiced candied pumpkin seeds (which tasted more like sunflower seeds to us). Get on our plate! The radish slices were very thinly cut making them flexible enough to mimic a flower, and the key lime dressing drizzled over it all gave it a nice tartness against the sweet candied seeds. Brings out the flavor The tropical fruit that topped this was mandarin oranges and they were plump and juicy which burst in your mouth as you took a bite! Then we started in on the Buttery House-baked Pull-apart Rolls (which also featured a Cheddar Mickey biscuit!) Buttery House-Baked Pull Apart Rolls These are served with a few sides of spread in the guava butter… Guava Butter … and the caramelized onion jam. Caramelized Onion Jam The rolls were soft Parker House style rolls and were lightly crisped at the top and bouncy like a pillow on the inside. The guava butter really flipped the script on us for what we were expecting. At first glance, it looks like a guava sherbert… but when you taste it, you only get the sweetness of the flavor as butter. It was different, but a good different. Our mind was anticipating ice cream and met with a sweet flavored butter… and while that was a wild idea, we loved it! Breads and spreads The caramelized onion jam was equally as divine. It was a sweet spreadable jam that had a subtle savory flavor to it from the onions. This was another flavor combination that turned out to be a delight but really sent our taste buds and our minds into a battle of wills. The surprise cheddar Mickey biscuit was a delight! Cheddar Mickey biscuit This little thing was crisp yet flaky like a croissant would be and tasted like a Cheez-It! Flaky! We could easily have ordered a plate full of these to enjoy all night and be perfectly content! If you’re keeping up with us so far, we were just getting started at this point. Our meal enhancement was brought out with our main entree so there was A LOT of food to go around! We ordered the Crab and Fish Cake to go along with our meal which cost us an additional $13. Crab and Fish Cake enhancement This dish is served with tropical mango slaw and guajillo aïoli which worked together like a symphony of flavors. The crab and fish cake was delicious with a lightly crusted outside to hold the cake together, that when cut open… Inside … revealed all the delicious seafood meat inside along with several crunchy veggies mixed in. You may need to get creative with this one because it will fall apart easily once you’ve started cutting into it. The flavor is put on full force when you’re able to get some of the mango slaw (which really DOES taste like mango) and the aïoli sauce. So delicious! It was finally time for our main entree, the Taste of the Caribbean. This entire dish is massive taking up multiple plates since it can serve multiple people at one time. It’s made of oven-roasted citrus chicken, slow-cooked mojo pork with mango sambal, grilled chili-rubbed beef with mojito relish, and sustainable baked fish with Veracruz sauce. Taste of the Caribbean and sides The sides were served on another plate containing Cilantro Rice and Beans, Vegetable Curry, and Grilled Seasonal Vegetables. Entree sides There’s a TON to go over about this one so we’ll start with the more simple plate of sides. Kicking off the sides to explore we started by tasting the cilantro rice and beans. Cilantro rice and beans There’s certainly a cilantro flavor to the rice and the way they’re cooked makes them a tad sticky, like you typically can find with Caribbean-inspired rice. The kidney beans had a nice burst to them when you bit down on them but they didn’t provide much more in terms of flavor than the rice provided overall. A little sticky The vegetable curry tasted more like a spicy beef soup, just without the beef. Vegetable Curry It’s a warm tomato-tasting broth that also has distinct notes of each of the vegetables that make it up with the celery being the most forward. We really enjoyed this one and could have been content ordering this as a standalone dish. So warm The seasonal vegetable served with our particular meal was broccolini. Broccolini We found it to be buttery with hints of garlic that was cooked very well! The tops were soft while maintaining the crunchiness of the stalks (but not overcooked.) This served as an enjoyable side but not the most memorable part of our meal. Didn’t blow us away Now it was time to move on to the big plate! Taste of the Caribbean This dish served up the oven-roasted citrus chicken… Oven-roasted citrus chicken … slow-cooked mojo pork with mango sambal… Slow-cooked mojo pork … grilled chili-rubbed beef with mojito relish… Grilled chili-rubbed beef … and sustainable baked fish with Veracruz sauce. Sustainable fish We’ll break this dish down one by one, starting with the over-roasted citrus chicken. This may be one of our favorite flavors of chicken at Disney World. The chicken drumsticks and breast are tossed into great buttery spices, and the skin with the meat really added to the overall flavor. If we had to be nitpicky about this one, it’s that we found the inside to be a bit dry and would have loved to have had a bit more juicy meat against so many of the flavors that started off strong on the outside. Chicken The mojo pork was equally as enjoyable! This reminded us of pork carnitas meat coated with lots of lime, giving it an acidic flavor, but they were very moist with just enough fat in the meat to have a nice chew. There wasn’t a whole lot of this brought out on the initial plate but our server was happy to bring us out more when we asked for it! Mojo pork The grilled chili-rubbed beef with mojito relish was the highlight of this entire dish! It’s normally cooked at a medium to medium-rare temperature, but you can have it cooked to your liking (our server asked if we wanted ours cooked differently). It’s thinly sliced and packed with flavor, with a great chew that’s just enough resistance as you bite down on it. If you were wondering if it was good enough to order seconds on, the answer is YES! Beef To round out the entree plate we tried the sustainable baked fish. We found the fish option to be enjoyable but not super flavorful (or buttery). Not our favorite The Veracruze sauce reminded us of a chutney. It had a nice sweet flavor to the sauce but it was also very much a savory sauce at the same time. Sweet and savory If you’re thinking “Did they even make it to dessert?,” the answer is yes, but we were ready to tap out from being so full at this point. If it wasn’t for the opportunity to try the Our Celebrated House-made Coconut-Pineapple Bread Pudding, then we probably would have thrown in the towel well before. Our Celebrated House-made Coconut Pineapple Bread Pudding If this treat looks familiar to you, you’re not wrong. It’s also served at the neighboring Banana Cabana Pool Bar & Lounge and as a sister version (sans coconut) at ‘Ohana, Tambu Lounge, and Kona Cafe (even Kona Cafe To G0.) It’s paired with a signature caramel sauce and vanilla ice cream. We drizzled that warm caramel sauce (read that as poured the whoooole thing) on top of the bread pudding and cold ice cream and got to work! All the caramel sauce Once you’ve put the warm caramel sauce over the top, you’d better be ready to dig in because this dessert can get messy quickly. The sauce is super creamy with a rich caramel flavor highlighted against the vanilla bean ice cream flavor. The coconut addition to this version of the pineapple bread pudding is what really sets it apart from the rest in our opinion. It’s a little melty The coconut shavings that are included are mostly found on the outside in case you’re not a fan, but we’re begging you to try it along with the rest of the treat. They add a nice crunchy texture without overpowering the sweet juicy pineapple tidbits you’ll find peppered throughout the layers of the bread pudding. It was delicious, and we’re pretty certain we could have eaten our weight’s worth in this dessert alone. Overall Overall we definitely had some superstars that really stood out to us throughout this meal like the sliced beef, chicken, mojo pork, both appetizers, the vegetable curry, and of course, dessert. However, the rest of the meal was just average for us or less memorable. We certainly didn’t taste anything that we really wouldn’t try or eat again; there were just a few that really outshined the rest of the menu offerings. Great value The meal itself really can pack a punch and hold its own without ordering any of the extras, however, we’ve got to admit we really enjoyed the extra options of the fun and fruity drinks and the addition of an enhancement with our meal. This really elevated the dining experience for us and we’re still talking about how beautifully themed the restaurant is decorated! Nosh or Not We think you’ll enjoy this Caribbean-inspired meal if… You’re a big fan of Caribbean cuisine. Your taste buds will love you if you’re someone who has an appreciation for sweet and spicy Caribbean flavors, there’s plenty to go around here! You’re dining with a group! This restaurant very easily could accommodate larger dining groups and with the family-style meal, there’s very easily something to find for everyone to eat. You’re looking for a fun, vibrant meal without a hefty price tag. This family-style meal has a lot going right for it in terms of flavor, portion, and variety. It’s a budget-conscious option for anyone looking to enjoy a decent meal. Dining here will feel a bit more sophisticated, while you steer clear of restaurants that can provide a similar look and feel for a more expensive experience. You’d probably rather dine elsewhere if… You’re not a fan of tangy spices and flavors. This has a very heavily Caribbean vibe and the look and taste of the food here will match that throughout the offerings. You’re looking for a more intimate dining experience. This dining area does have several rooms however, they’re large and capable of accommodating large dining groups. If you’re looking for a more intimate experience, this wouldn’t be a great option for you. Family-style meals just don’t do it for you. Aside from the enhancements, all of the entrees and sides will be served together… touching each other. If you prefer to dine at restaurants that offer an option for either a family-style shared meal or a separate entree like Whispering Canyon Cafe does, you just won’t have that choice here as the main meal is only served family-style. 14. If you’re a Taylor Swift fan, then this year may very well be the first year you’ve cared about the Super Bowl in a long time. ©Time Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce became the internet’s boyfriend when he and Taylor Swift went public with their relationship. Swift has been seen at multiple Chiefs games cheering on her man — and celebrating on the field with Kelce when the team won the game that would take the team to the Super Bowl. This year, the Super Bowl will be held on February 11th in Las Vegas, and, of course, the Super Bowl Parade will take place at DISNEYLAND! Are you thinking what I’m thinking? Is there a possibility that Taylor Swift could be at Disneyland after the Super Bowl? Well, let’s talk logistics. The parade at Disneyland will take place on Monday, February 12th, at 1:30PM PT. For any of this to be a possibility at all, the Chiefs would have to win, of course! ©TIME Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour concerts will place her in Tokyo around the same time. She has a concert on February 10th in Tokyo, and then again on Friday, February 16th in Melbourne, Australia. ©Beth Garrabrant via Pitchfork Technically, since Tokyo and California are closer together, she could be back in the States in time for the Super Bowl and the Super Bowl Parade with plenty of time to spare before she has to head to Australia. ©TIME We think it’s entirely possible that Taylor could be at Disneyland for the parade, but we wouldn’t entirely count on it. She’s superwoman in our eyes, but even superwoman needs to rest up sometimes. ©TIME We have a feeling that a lot of folks are considering the possibility as well, or are simply hoping to celebrate the Super Bowl winners, because Magic Key reservations are SOLD OUT for February 12th in Disneyland. ©Disney We can’t wait to see if she’ll make an appearance at the game or the parade, and we’ll keep you updated with more details about it if we stumble upon them. 15. So many Disney fans, us included, are so excited for Tiana’s Bayou Adventure to arrive in Magic Kingdom and Disneyland this year. @Disney We know that the ride follows Tiana’s restaurant adventure after the film’s end, as she gets ready to throw a Mardi Gras party for the whole town. But she’s missing the final ingredient and needs help to find it. We’ve also gotten sneak peeks at other aspects of the ride as we get closer and closer to its, currently unannounced, opening date. But there’s one part of the ride specifically we’ve been really curious about, and now we have some commentary on it — what happens after the drop? According to a reporter for NOLA.com who got a sneak peek at the inside of the new attraction, the first floor of the barn, which is part of the ride’s queue (just as it was for Splash Mountain) has been painted yellow and houses the main offices for Tiana’s Foods, the company Tiana founded after the events of The Princess and the Frog film. ©Disney Tiana’s Bayou Adventure concept art Just outside the barn will be multiple speakers that will broadcast an old-time radio show featuring New Orleans classics performed by multiple NOLA musicians that were gathered by Grammy award winner Terence Blanchard. This will immerse guests further into the art-filled city that is New Orleans. ©Disney The loading area of the attraction will resemble Splash Mountain’s, but you’ll see boxes stamped with “Tiana’s Foods” all over. Inside the ride, all of Splash Mountain’s faux vegetation has been replaced with flora native to Louisiana, such as cypress trees and marsh grasses. ©Disney This is where guests will start to see all the new animatronics that are being added to the ride, including the Critter band, Louis the Alligator, Tiana, and more. While some may nod to Splash Mountain, “the animatronics in Tiana’s Bayou Adventure will be the latest and greatest, the same high-tech versions used in Hong Kong Disneyland’s recently opened World of Frozen area.” ©Disney While many of the rocks, boulders, and other pieces of interior architecture have been retained from Splash Mountain, one set piece that will not be there is the tree trunk that guests saw just before their big drop. It will be replaced by something new. And that’s where the tour stops — because Imagineers won’t show us what’s beyond the drop just yet! Tiana’s Bayou Adventure Concept Art ©Disney When pressed for details, Imagineer Ted Robledo said, “I’ll just say it’s got a lot to do with magic. It’s a magical moment that happens down there.” If it’s anything like the Disney magic we already experience in the parks, we’re really looking forward to it! 17. So you want to drink around the World Showcase in EPCOT, do ya? It’s not always for the faint of heart. Hello from EPCOT! Sure, grabbing a drink here and there is one thing — but if you’re looking to have the full Drinking Around the World Showcase experience, you need to be prepared. There are plenty of things to keep in mind if you’re attempting this challenge, like staying hydrated, drinking responsibly, and generally not being bothersome and obnoxious to other people. But, there are some tools you can keep in your park bag that might help you along the way! DISCLOSURE: This post may contain affiliate links, meaning when you click the links and make a purchase, we receive a commission. When it comes to drinking around the World Showcase in EPCOT, I consider myself to be somewhat of an expert. So, when I’m preparing for a day of responsible imbibing, these are the essentials I make sure to pack in my park bag. Get this set of reusable straws to avoid the dreaded soggy paper! ©Amazon Disney World ditched plastic straws in the name of sustainability a while back, and instead, you’ll find paper straws throughout the parks and hotels. While I love the eco-friendly efforts, I do not love drinking my libations through a soggy paper straw. Instead, I keep some reusable straws like these in my park bag! View on Amazon A drink sock like this one can keep your hands dry from condensation or warm from an icy bev. ©Amazon If you also hate the dreaded wet cup or can due to condensation from an icy drink, I’m right there with ya. Tossing a koozie or drink sock into my bag can help prevent dripping all over the place, and it can also help keep your hands from freezing if it’s cold outside. View on Amazon My general rule of thumb is a glass of water for every drink, so I always keep a water bottle like this on me. ©Amazon My number one rule when drinking around the world is staying hydrated! Trust me, you don’t want to get lost in the sauce when you’re at Disney World. Not only does it sometimes lead to a bad time, it can also leave you feeling… not great. Bringing a water bottle like this Owala one with me is a must. View on Amazon For extra hydration, I toss some Liquid I.V. packets in my bag! ©Amazon For a bit of extra hydration — or if those drinks start catching up to me because I’ve ignored my own number one rule — having a few hydration multipliers like these Liquid IV packets can come in handy. They’re essentially electrolyte packets that can help give you a boost if you’re looking View on Amazon Sunscreen is a must for any trip around the World Showcase if you ask me. ©Amazon Studies have shown that drinking alcohol can decrease the efficacy of sunscreen (I’m not a scientist though, I write about Disney food for a living so take that with a grain of salt), so even if I’ve put some on before heading to EPCOT I’ll make sure to bring more in my bag. This Supergoop! sunscreen is lightweight and one of my go-to’s. 19. You won’t go hungry in Disney World…we PROMISE. Disney Springs Especially in the month of February, there are SO many limited-time treats that you couldn’t possibly try them all in a week-long vacation. With Black History Month and Valentine’s Day, we’ve been running around all over the parks to test out the latest creations. And for one offering, we headed over to Disney Springs! EET is a new restaurant that opened in Disney World in December 2023, serving Indian food in a fast-casual environment. Located in The Marketplace area at Disney Springs, I already stopped by this spot for a review on opening day…but now I’m back just a few weeks later to try a new drink! But before we get into the review, there’s something you should know about EET — it’s like, WAY in the back of Disney Springs. If you’re parking at the Orange Garage like I was, it’s about a half-mile walk to get to this restaurant. So let’s see if the new treat is worth the 1080 steps I had to walk to get there! EET in Disney Springs One of EET’s signature offerings is its chai beverages. During the holidays, they had a peppermint chai drink, but now that Valentine’s Day is coming up, they’ve got a new option to try — the ValenChai Day Latte! Say hello to the ValenChai! I was among the first to order the drink after we saw the restaurant post about it on Instagram. In fact, they didn’t even have it listed on the menu yet! It’s $9 and made with black tea, sweet cream, whipped cream, chocolate sauce, and candy on top. It’s a little bit pricey, but is it delicious enough to make up for it? It’s topped with a piece of chocolate and a lollipop. The short answer? Uhhh…probably not. The black tea and sweet cream are delicious together and the candy adds a fun decorative element, but that’s about where my enjoyment ended. I’m a huge chai fan, and there wasn’t quite enough of that flavor there for me. That’s a LOT of whipped cream on top. The drink is also pretty ice-heavy and topped with a LOT of whipped cream, so you don’t get much liquid. I probably only got about five good sips, and that’s not enough for a $9 drink, in my opinion. The chocolate sauce in the drink is very syrupy and distracting, overwhelming the chai flavor. Once you get to the bottom, it’s pretty much all syrup. So sorry, EET! I’m sad that I didn’t enjoy this drink more (like I said, major chai lover!), but that certainly won’t stop me from returning to EET. I really loved some of the eats on their menu when I visited at the end of last year, ESPECIALLY the Tandoori Chicken Poutine. Those are totally worth the half-mile trek! 20. When it comes to falling in love with park bags, we’re guilty as charged. Winnie the Pooh Lug bag If you’ve been following along with us and all the recent merchandise we’ve found, then you’ve probably heard of the Lug bags. They showed up in the Disney Parks in January and sold out just as quickly — they’re THAT popular! They’re rectangular crossbody bags that allow your phone, wallet, and other park necessities to slide right in. It’s super compact and can slide into the storage compartment of rides with ease, or you can tuck it to the side and leave it on throughout the rides. We’ve seen a Winnie the Pooh collection as well as a Figment collection for EPCOT’s Festival of the Arts. Each of these collections sold out SPEEDY FAST but the Figment collection in particular was very popular, as it sold out TWICE. But… we found it online. There are a few listings for the Figment International Festival of the Arts Lug Bag on eBay. The prices? Astronomical. Figment Skeeter Crossbody Bag The Lug crossbodies were sold for $60 in the parks. On eBay, we found one for $199.99… ©eBay …and another for $119.99. ©eBay We’ve seen this happen quite a few times, especially with limited-edition souvenirs. Oh, and the folks seem to love all things Figment! Does anyone remember the Figment popcorn buckets? In 2022, there was a Figment Festival of the Arts popcorn bucket that people waited in line for HOURS for. Then, they started popping up on eBay for upwards of $200. Figment Popcorn Bucket For EPCOT’s Flower and Garden Festival, we’ll be getting an Orange Bird Lug bag, and we truly hope that there will be enough stock for folks to be able to snag them. So OF COURSE, we’re going to share with you all the secret menu items you need to know about Disney World restaurants. Sometimes these secrets mean uttering a certain phrase or asking for something specific. Sometimes, it’s just knowing what to order. Sometimes, you just need to ask your server for the secret menu (try this at Skipper Canteen in Magic Kingdom). Perkins Thai Noodles with steak at Skipper Canteen We also come up with ingenious hacks (well, they’re ingenious to us!) to create some NEW snacks at Disney World. From showing you how to create your own Mickey Ear Cookie Ice Cream Sandwich to Chocolate-Dipped Mickey Pretzels, we’ve got ALL the good food hacks. Click here for our best 8 Disney World food hacks! Getting CHEAPER ticket prices So the base Disney World ticket starts at $109, but that can go up depending on which park you’re visiting and what day, plus how many days you need tickets for. So how can you manage the CHEAPEST tickets? You’ll need to keep two things in mind. First, ticket prices tend to be cheaper at the beginning of the week, Monday through Wednesday. There’s a sneaky trick to save on park tickets Second, park tickets tend to cover a range of dates, so you have some wiggle room when you select your dates. So here’s the thing, when you buy your ticket and select your number of days, you do NOT have to use that ticket on the first day of your trip. But the ticket price is based on that start date. For example, if you choose a 4-day ticket with a start date on Tuesday (one of the cheapest days), but you’ll be in Disney World for seven days, you can wait and use that park ticket later in the week when it would have been more expensive. NEVER travel for full price with these 6 hacks. Stacking Lightning Lanes Okay, you’ve bought Genie+ for your park day and you want to ride as many rides as possible, maybe even more than the standard 2-3 rides that Disney suggests you can do in a day on Genie+. So Disney says you can only book one attraction on Genie+ at a time when you use Genie+. Well, technically, that’s not true. Lightning Lane at Spaceship Earth You can actually stack Lightning Lane reservations. When you reach your Lightning Lane return time window, redeem as close to the beginning of that time as you can. As soon as you scan into your Lightning Lane, you can book another one. Then you want to use the 120-minute rule to your advantage. Lightning Lane for Smugglers Run So here’s the thing, you can make your next Lightning Lane selection when you’ve used the first one you booked, your return time window has ended, or 120 minutes have passed since you booked your last one. Okay, so this is how you use the 120-minute rule in your favor: You can book another Lightning Lane 120 minutes (aka two hours) after reserving your previous one, essentially allowing you to have TWO Lightning Lane return times at a time. Lightning Lane at Kali River Rapids It may seem sneaky, but Disney is TOTALLY okay with it. Learn even more about the 120-minute rule here So there you have three things you can do in Disney World that might make you feel like you’re breaking the rules, but you’re not! So use this information to your advantage! Stay tuned to DFB for more! 23. Unless you’ve been totally off the grid lately, you’ve probably noticed that there’s been a lot of football talk recently! Football field at Disney’s All-Star Sports Resort We’ve seen celebrities pouring into Orlando for the NFL Pro Bowl and even heard that Jason Kelce and his family had a blast in Disney World. But another, even BIGGER football event is coming up soon, and that’s why this seemingly random day is already SOLD OUT in Disneyland! If you’ve made plans to visit Disneyland on what may seem like just another Monday to you, you’ll want to make certain you’ve already made your Park Pass Reservation. And if you haven’t, well… the bad news is that both parks are already sold out for February 12th. UPDATE: We have seen Disney restock Park Passes for the 12th, so make sure to keep checking back in case new availability shows up! ©Disney If you’re still shaking your head in confusion about what could be so important this particular Monday in the park, we can fill you in! The Sunday before this day (February 11th) just so happens to be the Super Bowl. This is the BIGGEST game of the year for football fans across the world. The San Francisco 49ers and the Kansas City Chiefs are set to play against each other in the big game in Las Vegas. Football Mickey Pin The following day on Monday, February 12th, Disneyland will be hosting a Super Bowl Parade in the park. This will be your chance to catch a glimpse of one or more of the champion team members along with Mickey and a few of his pals as they wave to everyone in celebration. Welcome! It’s typically a small cavalcade consisting of usually one main float with other performers leading the way, but it could be a prime opportunity to get in those photo ops! Last year’s Super Bowl Parade As we mentioned before, Park Pass Reservations for regular guests and Magic Key holders are already sold out for this day, so the only way you’ll be able to get into Disneyland at this point is to check for an available reservation before purchasing a park ticket for the day. 24. The political tête-à-tête between the Walt Disney Company and the Central Florida Tourism Oversight District (CFTOD) has largely dominated headlines since it began, and there are no signs that it will be stopping anytime soon. Reedy Creek Improvement District While Disney has just appealed the judge’s ruling in the federal case, the state case filed by the CFTOD has continued on with less fanfare. For reference, the CFTOD lawsuit came shortly after Disney filed a lawsuit against the Board and Florida Governor Ron DeSantis with the Board officially filing its own suit in May 2023 and Disney filing a countersuit in August. But now, we have an update on the CFTOD’s case against Disney. The Central Florida Tourism Oversight District Board’s lawsuit against the Walt Disney Company seems to be plagued by scheduling conflicts and other logistical hiccups, according to recent case documents. ©Disney | Walt Disney Company Headquarters Though Orange County Circuit Judge Margaret Schreiber has heard arguments from both sides, a ruling has yet to be made. The judge did, however, order both parties to submit proposed summary judgments in their favor. ©Central Florida Tourism Oversight Board Livestream At one point, CFTOD Administrator Glen Gilzean was scheduled to be deposed — but before he could, the court was advised he had retained separate counsel (apart from the Board’s lawyers) and would not be appearing for the deposition. This has yet to be rescheduled. The court documents state that as District Administrator, Gilzean “is an important witness” and that Disney is prejudiced by not being able to obtain his deposition before the Company’s summary judgment opposition is due. ©Central Florida Tourism Oversight Board | Glen Gilzean Apparently, the CFTOD has only produced 25 custodial documents regarding Gilzean and acknowledged that it has not searched for or produced the requested documents from Gilzean’s personal email or phone. The documents allege, “WDPR (Walt Disney Parks and Resorts, Inc.) has long suspected that the District has not been searching for or collecting documents from the personal email accounts or mobile devices of any custodian, including for the District Administrator, board members, or other key employees—despite WDPR’s discovery requests expressly contemplating their inclusion. See 1/22/24 Mot. to Cont. at 10–11. At the January 23 hearing on WDPR’s Motion to Compel, the District finally admitted it has not even begun searching for or collecting these documents. Nor did the District agree to start this process, instead suggesting the parties further meet and confer on the issue.” ©Central Florida Tourism Oversight Board Livestream Because of this, a six-month delay has been requested so that this can be resolved ahead of the summary judgment hearing. In response, the CFTOD filed a Notice of Supplemental Authority indicating that the ruling in the federal case shows “the irrelevance of Disney’s allegations of retaliation.” Walt Disney Company Headquarters ©LA Times Keep in mind that Disney filed another lawsuit against the CFTOD Board in state court, alleging they are failing to provide public records that the company had requested back in May of this year. Withholding public records is against Florida law and the state’s constitution, and Disney is suing. Cinderella Castle Disney also claims that the CFTOD has been allowing its employees to use personal phones, personal email, and messaging to conduct government business, which has led to inefficient processing and the lack of public records being preserved or provided. According to Disney, the district and administrator allow them to “self-select what documents they were willing to provide from personal devices including email and text messages– if those records had even been preserved in the first place.” Main Street Train Station Stay tuned to DFB as we bring you more updates about this lawsuit and the other legal battles Disney is currently dealing with.
