Imagine getting married with Spaceship Earth behind you. Imagine saying, “I do,” followed by a reception with Mickey and Minnie. Now that’s the DREAM, right? ©Disney But before you walk down the aisle, you’ll need a DRESS! If you truly want to feel like a Disney princess, you’ve got an entire collection of Disney Fairy Tale dresses to choose from. But what about those of you out there who don’t want a traditional Disney princess-style gown? Are you team villain? Looking for a dark and dramatic dress? Disney just released a NEW Disney Villains Capsule Collection of wedding gowns you HAVE to see. Who knows — you might convert to the dark side after seeing these dresses. The new Disney Villains Capsule Collection of wedding gowns includes gowns inspired by Maleficent, Jafar, the Evil Queen, and Ursula. Each gown is offered in both black & ivory colorways. Whether you’re going for a dark, moody wedding or want a more subtle Disney-inspired wedding dress, you’ve got options! ©Disney Let’s start with the Evil Queen dress. First of all, WOW. This dress is AMAZING! It’s got beautiful embroidery details and a dramatic ruffle shawl. During your wedding, you’re sure to be the fairest of them all — especially in this show-stopping dress! ©Disney Weddings The back has a long cathedral train, perfect for striding across your wedding venue in style. ©Disney Weddings Disney also released a new Jafar dress, complete with satin lapels! ©Disney Weddings This dress makes a STATEMENT! It’s got a deep plunging neckline and a simple yet impactful silhouette. We love the nod to menswear in the bodice, and those puffed sleeves add just the right amount of drama. The dress is available in ivory or black. ©Disney Weddings Maleficent is a classic Disney villain, and Disney’s new Maleficent-inspired dress is just as memorable as the wickedly compelling character. The gown features green velvet and lace appliqués with a black organza. ©Disney Weddings We can’t get enough of those ruffles! The black organza ripples down the dress and into a long cathedral train. Make sure your photographer snaps plenty of photos of this dress — it’s stunning. ©Disney Weddings Finally, Disney paid homage to Ursula with this dramatic mermaid dress! The gown is beaded and includes plenty of soft tulle and floral appliques. Don’t forget — this dress comes in ivory, too! Either way, we highly recommend a fun statement necklace to complete the look. ©Disney Weddings OK, which dress is your favorite? We can hardly choose! If you’ve got the budget, why not splurge on TWO dresses (one in black, one in ivory)? In the meantime, we’re always on the lookout for the latest Disney news, so stay tuned for more. It’s been just a little more than a year since Splash Mountain closed at Disney World, on January 22nd, 2023. Closing day for Splash Mountain in Disney World The ride in Magic Kingdom is being transformed into Tiana’s Bayou Adventure, which will be opening this year! When this year? Well, we don’t know, but we do know that Disney used to say “late 2024,” and that changed recently — making us think the ride could be done sooner than first expected. We check out the construction on Tiana’s Bayou Adventure every day, so sometimes in seeing incremental changes, we forget just how much change has happened over the past year, but when you compare the Splash Mountain photo to the state of the ride today, it’s easy to see the enormous changes! Check out all the progress! Beyond all the foilage transforming this “mountain” into the bayou, we have recently seen some big additions to the ride, including a weathervane... ©Disney And colorful lanterns hung at the top of the ride’s big drop. Lanterns! We also got to watch a painter working in the flume after the big drop this week! Faux painting happening! And we can’t wait to see what’s happening next! Disney has been keeping us on our toes with major news updates lately! Ariel in the Festival of Fantasy Parade at Magic Kingdom We learned that Moana 2 will be premiering this November, along with plenty of updates about other Disney sequels. Back in December 2023, Disney shared that a NEW Little Mermaid stage show would be coming to Hollywood Studios, and now we’ve got even more news to share from under the sea (see what we did there?)! Disney Legend and actress Jodi Benson recently teased that she’s working on a “new surprise project” on her Instagram page! And, the post appears to show that she’s working on something to do with The Little Mermaid — perhaps some more voiceover work? Benson originated the voice of Ariel in the 1989 Disney animated classic. via Instagram While we don’t know for sure, it’s possible that this could have something to do with the new Little Mermaid stage show coming to Hollywood Studios in Disney World. It’s not likely that Benson will be involved with the live show, but maybe Disney has recruited her to provide Ariel’s classic voice for some show elements. ©Disney “The Little Mermaid – A Musical Adventure” is a reimagining of the stage show “Voyage of the Little Mermaid,” which hasn’t opened since the parks closed in 2020. The theater has been left sitting empty for years now, but Disney is finally ready to put another live-action show back on the stage in fall 2024! Okay, it’s almost time for one of the biggest sporting events of the year. Football field at Disney’s All-Star Sports Resort Yep, the Super Bowl will be coming up soon! Now, we’ll admit that we always watch the Super Bowl mostly for the commercials (like a lot of people), but this year those commercials could be rather meaningful for one person. That’s because DoorDash is having a contest where someone will win EVERY SINGLE THING advertised during football’s big day. Yes, EVERYTHING. On February 11th, DoorDash is having a first-of-its-kind sweepstakes to showcase how you can get just about anything delivered to your door with DoorDash. So DoorDash will literally DoorDash EVERYTHING from all the Super Bowl commercials to one lucky person. ©DoorDash So what can you win? Well, the list includes a Clydesdale saddle (as seen in the Budweiser commercial), 30 lbs. of mayonnaise, a BMW electric car, a Kia SUV, a Volkswagen, a $20,000 vacation from Booking.com, a one-year subscription to e.l.f. Cosmetic’s Hottest Drops and the Entire Halo Glow Collection, a Google Pixel 8, a ton of snacks, and more. Yes, you read that right, so far, THREE cars are part of the giveaway, along with a random assortment of other things. Kofi Amoo-Gottfried, the CMO of DoorDash, said, “DoorDash was founded 10 years ago with a simple mission: grow and empower local economies. What started out as connecting consumers with their favorite local restaurants has transformed into a multi-category marketplace where you can get pretty much anything from your local neighborhood delivered – from food, to flowers, alcohol, retail items, and more – straight to your door. We believe there’s no better way to showcase what’s possible with DoorDash than literally delivering all the Big Game ads to one lucky winner.” ©Doordash So here’s how to enter to win: Bookmark Doordash-all-the-ads and then watch the Super Bowl. Watch the DoorDash commercial and figure out how to crack the code, which you’ll enter at the above website. Hit “Submit Now” and hope you’re the lucky winner. Yes, this sounds WILD, but it’s legit! So good luck to everyone entering. May ALL the things show up on your doorstep after the Super Bowl! Stay tuned to DFB for more. You Can DoorDash McDonald’s to Your Disney World Hotel. Here’s How. Disney tried something NEW this past winter. Something ambitious and — in theory — perfect for its loyal audience of holiday party guests. So what went wrong? Jollywood Nights As you may know, events like Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party and Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party are wildly popular. These parties sell out pretty much every year, and fans return over and over again. But Disney’s NEW Jollywood Nights holiday party didn’t seem to have the success many expected. Several party dates came and went without selling out, and the overall reception was lukewarm. Will Disney bring Jollywood Nights BACK in 2024? We may have a clue! From time to time, Disney sends out surveys via email. These surveys can cover a wide range of topics, from park cleanliness to overall satisfaction. The surveys are relatively short and include a mix of multiple-choice questions, Likert Scale questions, and open-ended questions. ©Disney But Disney offers another type of survey that’s a little more exclusive and a LOT more time-consuming. Recently, Disney sent an email to people who attended Jollywood Nights. The email invited recipients to participate in a new Disney Jollywood Nights research study. The email explained that Disney is looking to capture people’s thoughts and opinions about Disney Jollywood Nights. It’s Kermit and Miss Piggy! To participate in the 75-minute online interview, you must be selected based on your response to a series of screening questions via a short online quiz. The quiz asked questions like, “If Jollywood Nights were to be offered in the future, what is the likelihood that you will return to the event again?” Here, if participants answered, “Definitely will return,” the quiz ended. Rachel and the Alley Cats at the Tower of Terror Party If selected, Disney will award participants a $125 gift card for their thoughts and time. The study is set to take place a few days in mid-February It’s Phineas and Ferb! Disney ended the email by stating, “We are genuinely interested in your feedback and hope to connect soon!” So, what could this mean for the future of Jollywood Nights? We’ll have to wait and see! In 2023, some guests felt that the event did not offer enough party-exclusive entertainment (like a parade, exclusive fireworks, and characters), while others felt that compared to Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party, Jollywood simply didn’t measure up. Maybe Disney will take this feedback into consideration! It’s Gertie! We’ll be on the lookout for more Disney holiday news and updates. In the meantime, we’re here to share ALLLL latest Disney news, so stay tuned for more. Disney World has announced quite a few projects in recent years! Cinderella Castle in Magic Kingdom Some of those projects are currently underway (like Tiana’s Bayou Adventure), while we’re still waiting on updates for others (we’re looking at you, PLAY! Pavilion). And in Magic Kingdom, there’s one project that was announced…but we’re still waiting to hear more! Honestly, this one has us intrigued. Back in July 2023, Disney announced that they would be bringing a new offering to Storybook Circus in Magic Kingdom called Smellephants on Parade. It will be presented by Scentsy and was described as a “family-friendly ‘search and sniff’ adventure. ©Disney Since then, we haven’t heard any updates about the new offering, and the only change we’ve seen is that Scentsy logos have been added to some of the signs in Storybook Circus. Presented by Scentsy But now, we might have an update! We noticed recently that some bushes and foliage have been removed over by the Casey Jr. Splash ‘n Soak Station. These planters used to be filled with greenery, but now they’re down to the basics. It’s empty! Disney hasn’t specifically shared where the features will all be located for Smellephants on Parade, so is it possible that some of the statues will go over here? With the bushes out of the way, it would be easier to install the new additions. Could we see some smellephants here? We’ll make sure to keep watching these spots to see if anything changes, so stay tuned to DFB for the latest. We’re eager to find out what “smellephants” actually are and to sniff them out ourselves! I go to Disney World for my job a LOT. Like, a lot, a lot. Magic Kingdom’s Cinderella Castle In fact, I’m usually in the parks multiple times a week. Unfortunately, after a while, some things lose a little bit of their charm. Visiting The Emporium is less exciting when I’m fighting for my life while trying to take pictures of a new pair of Minnie ears, and Main Street, U.S.A. loses a tiny bit of its appeal when it’s slammed with fans before a parade. But no matter how many times I visit, some things never get old. Sometimes my best moments in the parks are those I experience through the people around me. The excited squeals of a child when Olaf walks onto the stage during Mickey’s Magical Friendship Faire. The shock and awe of the crowd when Mickey Mouse appears magically at the end of Fantasmic. The tears of joy when someone gets to hug their favorite character for the first time. Mickey’s Magical Friendship Faire The collective gasp and subsequent cheers from the crowd when Tinker Bell takes flight in Happily Ever After? Well, that one makes me shed tears every single time. Happily Ever After fireworks at Magic Kingdom Just BEING in Disney World can be magical. Even if I’m there to check quick service menus and scour gift shops instead of running around to rides with my family, I can still feel the excitement in the air. I see the hundreds of “First Visit” and “Happy Birthday” buttons pinned to shirts, the thousands of strollers filled with kids bursting with excitement, and the parents eager to make this vacation the best one yet. EPCOT Fantasyland smells like sunscreen and fried food, and it’s glorious. Why? Because that’s the scent of a place where memories are made. Magic Kingdom It’s all those little moments that make me realize how important this job is. Our countless days spent in the parks in the heat, battling the crowds, waking up for early mornings, and staying until long after the sun goes down — it’s all so that we can feed our readers the best tips and advice possible for their vacations. So that you (yes, YOU!) can take your family to the parks and enjoy those same magical experiences I mentioned before. Disney’s Animal Kingdom And getting to hear from our readers about their vacations? Well, that just might be the best part of working here. Knowing that we’ve helped you plan yet another successful trip fuels our team. So even on those days when the temperature is in the triple digits and the crowds are too thick to see the concrete below my feet, I think of all of you and I’m grateful that you make this job possible. Disney’s Hollywood Studios So here’s to hoping that your next trip is absolutely magical. That you’ll soon get the chance to laugh with your family on Mad Tea Party, smile for the PhotoPass photographers, dance along with the parade, and smell the sunscreen and fried food. And hopefully, the things we’ve learned from visiting the parks every day will make your trip just a little bit easier and a little more fun. 7 Embarrassing Things We Still Always Do in Disney World — Click Here! When you visit Disney World, there are rules that you need to follow as a guest. You should know the rules when you visit Disney World. Some of these rules are pretty well-known. Balloons are not allowed at Disney’s Animal Kingdom for the safety of the animals. You can’t bring alcoholic beverages into the parks. You can’t wear full character costumes to the parks unless you’re attending Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party. But did you know that there are MORE rules about what you can and can’t wear inside Disney World? Yes, believe it or not, Disney World does have a dress code. You must wear “proper attire” when visiting the parks. That means shoes and shirts must be worn at all times. Disney also asks visitors to “use your discretion and common sense” with what they wear to the parks because the environment is family-friendly. ©Disney So what does Disney consider inappropriate attire? Well, one thing that you need to know is that you can’t wear a skirt or dress that drags on the ground. So if you’ve got an extra long dress, skirt, cloak, or anything else, you’ll need to make sure it doesn’t touch the ground when you wear it. Of course, this is for your safety as something like that could easily get stepped on by other guests, as well as caught in things. Make sure your kids’ princess dresses don’t drag on the ground! Disney also considers the following clothing as inappropriate, in case you were wondering: clothing with objectionable language or material, excessively torn clothing, clothing that exposes a little too much skin for a family-friendly environment, and objectionable tattoos. Main Street Of course, when you’re packing for your trip, you’ll also want to keep an eye on the weather and pack accordingly. Make sure to bring rain gear, too, because sudden rainstorms pop up in Disney World all the time. Believe it or not, you may even need to pack a sweater if you’re visiting Disney World in the winter months. Rainy day Need ideas for shirts? Disney CEO Bob Iger has shared that improving streaming at Disney was his number one priority, and we’ve seen significant changes since his return. ©Disney But, just how close is Iger to achieving his goal of making streaming profitable? We learned quite a bit during Disney’s most recent earnings call — including the not-so-great news that Disney+ had lost 1.3 million core subscribers over the last quarter. And yet, Iger doesn’t seem to be worried at all — here’s why. During the Walt Disney Company Q1 earnings call on February 7th, 2024, CEO Bob Iger shared some insight on his “number one priority” — improving the streaming business. ©Disney At the end of the 2023 fiscal year, Disney+ Core had a total of 112.6 million subscribers, while Disney+ Hotstar had 37.6 million. But, in the first quarter of fiscal year 2024, Disney+ Core subscribers “decreased sequentially by 1.3 million,” which Disney reports is “in line with prior guidance and reflecting a substantial price increase in the quarter as well as the end of the global summer promotion.” ©Disney Even though Disney+ lost subscribers, Iger still doesn’t seem to be too worried about it — here’s why. Password Sharing Crackdown Disney had previously announced a crackdown on password sharing between households for Disney+, but Disney shared a bit more on how they plan to enforce it. Disney will actively start cracking down on account holders who share their account passwords with folks who do not live in the same household. ©Hulu The streaming platform was originally meant to be shared between devices including your television, iPad, computer, and phone, but it’s possible people were taking advantage of that. With people no longer sharing accounts, this could lead to an increase in new subscribers. Learn More About the Password Sharing Updates Here ESPN Improvements Disney also recently announced that it would be starting a NEW streaming service for sports assets that’ll combine content from ESPN, Fox, and Warner Bros. Discovery. This service will be available to ESPN+, Hulu, and Max subscribers, and each company will own one-third of the product. ©ESPN The full suite of ESPN’s channels will become a standalone and highly interactive streaming destination in Fall 2025. This will include ESPN Bet, ESPN’s sportsbook betting service that debuted in 2023. Read More About the NEW ESPN Streaming Service Here Price Hikes While we didn’t hear any updates on impending price increases for Disney+ or Hulu during this earnings call, we did recently just see a hike in October 2023. The ad-free tier of Disney+ rose to $13.99 per month and the cost of Hulu without commercials increased to $17.99 per month. ©Disney These price hikes, combined with the introduction of ads to the Disney+ platform are likely rather key reasons as to why Disney+ is still predicted to reach profitability by the end of Q4 of fiscal year 2024. Disney shared, “We expect Disney+ Core subscriber net additions of between 5.5 and 6 million and ongoing positive momentum in ARPU in the second quarter.” According to Disney, streaming is on track to become profitable by the end of Q4 2024 — a goal that was set when the service first rolled out in 2019. ©Apple Some experts have predicted that Iger’s obsession with streaming will pay off in 2024, possibly even with the acquisition of streaming rights to things like sporting events or the creation of a significant streaming bundle. All that remains to be seen, but we’ll definitely be watching for updates. ©Disney | Walt Disney Company Headquarters We’ll continue to keep an eye on more Disney+ subscriber news and the latest updates from Disney, so stay tuned to DFB for more! What if we told you that you could watch your favorite Disney movies… in 3D? ©Marvel No, we’re not talking about special releases in theaters or DVDs that used to come with those blue and red 3D glasses (although we kind of wish we were). We’re talking about something even cooler — being able to watch your favorite Disney Movies on Disney+ with Apple Vision Pro. Earlier in February, Apple released a new technology called Apple Vision Pro. It’s a headset that blends digital content with the space around you. We know — it sounds SO cool. Well, this new technology means that the way you can view content has changed: Now you can watch some of your favorite Disney movies in 3D using this headset. Apple Vision Pro On Apple Vision Pro, Disney+ subscribers can watch some of their favorite Disney films come to life in ways that they never could before. Right now, there are 42 movies that you’re able to view in 3D with this headset! Here’s the full list: Aladdin (2019) Alice Through the Looking Glass Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania Avatar Avatar: The Way of Water Avengers: Endgame Avengers: Infinity War Beauty and the Beast (2017) Black Panther Black Panther: Wakanda Forever Black Widow Captain America: Civil War Captain Marvel Coco / Coco en Español Doctor Strange (2016) Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness Elemental Encanto Finding Nemo Frozen II Guardians of the Galaxy Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 Incredibles 2 Inside Out The Jungle Book (2016) The Lion King (2019) The Little Mermaid (2023) Luca Maleficent: Mistress of Evil Moana Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales Ralph Breaks the Internet Raya and the Last Dragon Rogue One: A Star Wars Story Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings Star Wars: The Force Awakens Star Wars: The Last Jedi Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker Strange World Thor: Love and Thunder Thor: Ragnarok It looks like this list is mostly made up of movies that have come out within the last 10 years. We’re hoping they add some of our favorite classics soon — however, we’re sure that it won’t be easy to convert those into 3D… but we can (and will) have hope for it (actually, we’re begging). ©Disney Honestly, we’re just excited that we get SO MANY movies to watch in 3D right off the bat. With the inclusion of movies like Avatar: The Way of Water, Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales, and Encanto — we’re excited to be able to see these new movies in a whole new light. ©Disney If you’re a Disney+ subscriber, you get access to the entire catalog of 3D movies; however, if you don’t have a Disney+ subscription but still want to watch one, no worries! Non-subscribers are able to rent or buy these movies from the Apple TV app. ©Disney We’re keeping our eye on the latest 3D releases so you don’t have to! When visiting Disney World is your full-time job and you’re there almost as much as you’re in your own house, you start to pick up on some warning signs. Welcome to Magic Kingdom! Yep, we’re talking about warning signs that there could be BIG crowds soon. February is what many take for a slower season at Disney World, inspiring an influx in tour groups, field trips, and sports groups. This weekend marks no exception, as a big competition is happening in Orlando! The UCA Cheer Competition kicks off on February February 9th, 2024, and will continue until February 12th. Cheer teams from all over the country will flock to Disney World to compete, and the cheerleaders and their families tend to spend a lot of time in the parks for some R&R! Cheer squad The 4-day championship will take place at the ESPN Wide World Of Sports Complex, so you can probably expect to see some extra traffic over there, as well. ESPN Wide World of Sports Alongside the competition at the Wide World of Sports Complex, competitors will be able to experience extended evening hours at Magic Kingdom on Friday, February 9th, with a private celebration party occurring at Hollywood Studios on Sunday, February 11th. Tower of Terror With such a huge event occurring, we can expect to see an uptick in park and hotel crowds this weekend. We’ll be sure to keep you updated with more Disney news, so make sure to follow along so that you never miss a thing! This trick feels illegal in Disney World, but it’s not. Extra! Extra! Read All About It! EPCOT Disney’s latest quarterly earnings call happened on February 7th, 2024. Disney CEO Bob Iger revealed a LOT about the future of The Walt Disney Company, but there were a few notable exceptions. Although Disney still hasn’t answered some of our major questions, we do have an update on the company’s FOUR biggest priorities, which were first introduced during Disney’s 2023 Q4 earnings call. Let’s see how those plans are taking shape! In the 2023 Q4 earnings call, Disney CEO Bob Iger introduced these “four key building opportunities” for The Walt Disney Company. These priorities were touted as the central pillars that Disney would build upon over the next few years, and are “central” to Disney’s success. Those priorities are: Achieving significant and sustained profitability in our streaming business Building ESPN into the preeminent digital sports platform Improving the output and economics of Disney film studios Turbocharging growth in the Experiences business Disney World After the latest earnings call, we have some updates on these goals! Goal 1: Achieving significant and sustained profitability in the streaming business. Bob Iger has called Disney’s streaming business his number-one priority. That said, Disney+’s success has wavered since it was first introduced, though Iger has a plan. At the end of the 2023 fiscal year, Disney+ Core had a total of 112.6 million subscribers, while Disney+ Hotstar had 37.6 million. Now, as of the latest update, Disney+ subscribers decreased by 1.3 million, though this was in line with Disney’s expectations. Additionally, the company had a loss of $138 million this quarter. ©Disney Despite the loss in subscribers, Disney projected a rebound of 5.5 -6 million subscribers for the second quarter. Disney’s financial losses this quarter improved from the $300 million the previous quarter, and Disney is still projecting to reach profitability by the end of 2024. ©Disney The company had an overall streaming loss of $138 million this quarter. If Disney hopes to achieve profitability, it will need to continue to shrink its losses going forward. With Disney’s recent Hulu acquisition and the one-app Disney+/Hulu experience, plus Disney’s initiative to crack down on password sharing, it seems like Iger has a clear vision of how to achieve success within the streaming sector. Click here to learn more about Disney’s wins and losses in streaming Goal 2: Building ESPN into the preeminent digital sports platform. According to Disney’s latest earnings report, ESPN grew in both revenue and operating income, and Disney has big plans for ESPN. Disney announced that a NEW sports streaming platform will debut this fall. ©ESPN The new streaming service for Disney’s sports assets will combine content from ESPN, Fox, and Warner Bros. Discovery. The service will be available to ESPN+, Hulu, and Max subscribers, and each company will own one-third of the service. We now know that ESPN’s full suite of channels will become a standalone streaming destination in Fall 2025, including ESPN Bet, and at this time, Disney is still working on partnership opportunities with ESPN. Disney Reveals NEW Details on BIG Streaming Changes Goal 3: Improving the output and economics of Disney film studios. Recently, Bob Iger admitted that Disney has been leaning on sequels pretty heavily and promised to improve the output and economics of the Disney film studios. That said, most of the announcements from the latest earnings call focused on expanding Disney’s existing universes. ©Disney We learned that a Moana 2 film will be released in theaters this November. Iger confirmed that Frozen 3, a new Toy Story film, and a Star Wars movie on The Mandalorian and Grogu are set to release in 2026 and beyond. We even learned that Disney+’s wildly successful Percy Jackson series will get a second season. So, with so many sequels on the way, will Disney have better success at the box office in 2024 and beyond? Given the company’s recent history, Disney needs a new blockbuster, and it seems like they’re leaning on existing franchises to help. Disney Just Dropped a Trailer AND Release Date for ‘Moana 2’ Goal 4: Turbocharging growth in the Experiences business. Here, too, Disney remained pretty quiet in terms of its plans to “turbocharged” growth. In fact, Iger stated that 70% of the $60 billion Disney wants to invest in Experiences will be used for “incremental capacity-expanding” in the parks. That doesn’t sound very “turbo.” Possible Land Expansion in Magic Kingdom ©Disney Luckily, Iger shared that every park has been profitable this quarter. The company hit an all-time record in revenue, operating income, and operating margin in its Experiences department in the first quarter. People clearly are showing interest in the Disney parks. Now, it’s just up to Disney to bring something NEW to the table. Click here to learn MORE about the latest announcements After the earnings call, Disney’s stock was looking good. BofA analyst Jessica Reif Erlich noted, “In a little over a year since returning to the company as CEO, Bob Iger’s actions are already having an impact,” per Deadline. Although The Walt Disney Company has a long way to go in terms of meeting its goals, it seems like Disney is on the right track. Looking for more news from this earnings call? It’s been a BIG week for Disney news! Typhoon Lagoon We learned just how the parks and more are doing during the recent earnings call and also found out details about sequels for Moana and Zootopia. On top of that, a brand new sports streaming service is in the works from Disney, and — we officially have a reopening date for Typhoon Lagoon (which means a closure date for Blizzard Beach, too!) Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon Water Park will be reopening on March 17th, 2024! Typhoon Lagoon The water park had been closed since November 2023 while Disney worked on some refurbishments and sprucing up the place. While the park was closed, visitors could instead go to Blizzard Beach Water Park which was still open — but that’s about to change too. Typhoon Lagoon Blizzard Beach will be closed as of March 17th, 2024, so March 16th will be your last day to squeeze in a visit if you want! Blizzard Beach Water Park Disney shared on its website that the park will be undergoing refurbishment during the closure, but we don’t have any solid details on what those refurbs might entail. In recent years, Disney has only been operating one water park at a time based on demand and staffing capabilities. Disney has just shared some huge news…but one major thing was missing. Walt and Mickey During the Q1 earnings call for fiscal year 2024, Disney shared updates about its theme park business, the financial status of its streaming business, and more. But interestingly there was something important they left OUT. During the earnings call, Disney CEO Bob Iger discussed a variety of hot topics for Disney fans! For those who love the movies, he confirmed a fall release date for the upcoming Moana 2, a 2025 release date for Zootopia 2, and release dates in 2026 and beyond for Frozen 3 and Toy Story 5. ©Disney On top of that, we learned about some new content coming to Disney+ soon, like Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour movie and a second season of Percy Jackson and the Olympians. ©Disney We also got some big news about the theme parks! Iger shared that every Disney park location would be getting updates to them. It had been previously announced that there would be a $60 billion investment in Disney Experiences over the next 10 years, but now we know that 70% of the $60 billion will be used for “incremental capacity expanding” in the parks. Magic Kingdom’s Cinderella Castle But even with high hopes for expansions in the future and already announced plans for changes coming to Magic Kingdom and Animal Kingdom, there’s one project Iger didn’t talk about — one that’s coming much sooner than the others. Yep, that’s right, Tiana’s Bayou Adventure! ©Disney The new ride is coming to both Magic Kingdom and Disneyland Park, and it’s set to open sometime in 2024. It was originally announced as “late 2024,’ but then the “late” part of that phrase was quietly removed from Disney’s updates. With it already being 2024, we were hoping the earnings call would bring some news about the opening timeline for the ride. Tiana’s Bayou Adventure Concept Art ©Disney But alas, we still don’t have an opening date, month, or season for this attraction. We’ll be waiting with bated breath for more news, and we’ll make sure to let you know as soon as we get any details. We do know, however, that the ride will feature new animatronics and a specially-created storyline. You’ll get to travel through the bayou with Tiana, Naveen, Louis, and friends! ©Disney Tiana’s Bayou Adventure concept art You can bet we’ll be watching for updates on this matter and providing you with ALL the latest updates. Sometimes the unexpected can happen in Disney World, but we do our best to prepare you if we can. Magic Kingdom We always tell you about times when parks close early (which happens sometimes for special events). We also try to keep you updated on any weather that could impact your Disney World trip, especially when it might close rides. We also want you to know about both planned and unexpected ride closures. Tonight, one Magic Kingdom ride will be closing EARLY. Tonight, Under the Sea — Journey of the Little Mermaid will close early at 7PM. Now, we initially thought this had something to do with the nighttime fireworks because there are parts of Fantasyland that close early for that. But we spoke with a Cast Member who told us this early closure was more about ride maintenance. There’s a sign in front of the ride notifying guests of this closure. Ride closes at 7PM So if you’re headed to Magic Kingdom today and this is something you’ll want to ride, just make sure to get over to Fantasyland before 7PM to ride it. We haven’t noticed any other closures like this in Magic Kingdom, though, so even if you miss it, you’ll still be able to hop on other attractions. Under The Sea — Journey of the Little Mermaid is a dark ride that is basically a retelling of The Little Mermaid and is a must for Ariel fans. Journey of the Little Mermaid If you’d rather just meet Ariel instead, you can find her in the nearby Ariel’s Grotto for her character meet and greet. Stay tuned to DFB for more! Hold up for a sec!
