  1. The 2024 Disney California Adventure Food & Wine Festival is open now through April 22nd, serving up tastes of the Golden State! It’s time for Food & Wine! The Disney California Adventure Food and Wine Festival celebrates the bounty of California with food, beverages, and special events. This year’s fest runs from March 1st through April 22nd, which means you’ve got over a month to check out the best this festival has to offer. Speaking of which, we’re bringing you our BEST of the 2024 DCA Food & Wine Festival! It wouldn’t be a true Disney festival unless we were there to try allllllll the NEW eats and some returning favorites, too! Since we’ve tried everything, we feel pretty confident about bringing you our BEST of the 2024 Disney California Adventure — so get ready, ’cause it’s time to dig in! BEST New Items for 2024 Impossible Beef Stroganoff at Earth Eats The IMPOSSIBLE Beef Stroganoff for $9 comes with egg noodles tossed in a mushroom cream sauce with IMPOSSIBLE beef and sour cream. Now, that’s a lot of stuff to convert to a plant-based diet, so how does it hold up? IMPOSSIBLE Beef Stroganoff This was EXCELLENT. We thought it could use more of the creamy sauce, but that’s a minor detail we can overlook. The mushrooms are the star, though, and the flavors aren’t too bold for a stroganoff. It’s like an upgraded beef stroganoff, and it’s nice to see Disney really making some vegetarian options that are SO good. Check out our full review of Earth Eats here! Watermelon Cucumber Mojito at Earth Eats The Watermelon Cucumber Mojito for $17 is made with white rum, watermelon liqueur, mojito and cucumber syrups, watermelon purée, and lime juice, topped with Topo Chico and garnished with a watermelon spear with Tajín twist. This sounds like a Cancun beach vacation converted into a drink — so obviously, we had HIGH expectations for it! Watermelon-Cucumber Mojito We’re happy to report that this drink EXCEEDED our expectations. It is SO refreshing, even with the tajin kick. The watermelon flavor is what you mostly taste, meaning this is the perfect summer drink. There’s just a hint of cucumber, so it only adds a little bit of flavor. However, you do need to be okay with a bit of spice to enjoy it. Check out our full review of Earth Eats here! Shrimp Papas Locas at Peppers Cali-Ente The Shrimp Papas Locas are made with cheddar-bacon potatoes, jalapeño cheese sauce, and chipotle shrimp. You can snag it for $8.75. Shrimp Papas Locas We’re SO glad that this new item earned a spot on the menu! It had such GREAT flavors! The shrimp was cooked to perfection and the salsa on top added the perfect freshness to balance out the potatoes with cheese sauce. Speaking of cheese, there was a lot of it, and we certainly weren’t mad about it. We would gladly order this dish again: it packs a TON of flavor! Read our full review of Peppers Cali-Ente here! Peach Cobbler Cocktail at Golden Dreams The new Peach Cobbler Cocktail for $17 is made with moonshine, peach and amaretto liqueur, peach nectar, condensed milk, vanilla and cinnamon syrups, and lemon juice garnished with frozen peaches. Honestly, if Southern hospitality and charm could be concentrated into a cocktail, this might be it! Peach Cobbler Cocktail It basically tastes like a boozy peach cobbler. That sweet peach flavor is the most prominent, and the cinnamon gives it that rich dessert taste. The moonshine in this drink makes it pretty strong, but all the sweet, fruity flavors make the drink go down smoothly. This was a WINNER — we loved this one. See our full Golden Dreams review here! Kiwi-Apple Lemonade at Cluck-a-Doodle-Moo The non-alcoholic Kiwi-Apple Lemonade, which is $7, is made with Minute Maid Lemonade and apple juice together with kiwi and Granny Smith apple syrups. It’s all garnished with a lovely purple orchid! Non-alcoholic Kiwi-Apple Lemonade Um, YUM! This was absolutely delicious! It looks as good as it tastes — our drink was super refreshing, and the flavors work so well together. Read our full Cluck-a-Doodle-Moo review here! Raspberry Almond Cake at Uncork California This is a new item this year and is simple, classic, and elegant — just what you’d expect from a wine booth. It’s an almond cake with raspberry mousse and fresh raspberries. We thought it tasted almost like a muffin top with delicious raspberry flavor sprinkled throughout! The cake was dense but very moist, and the mousse on top was fresh and tart. The raspberry flavor really shines through. Raspberry Almond Cake You can pick this treat up for $7.50. Read our full review of Uncork California here! Cheeseburger Bao at California Craft Brews The Cheeseburger Bao for $8.50 comes with Thousand Island dressing, grilled onions, pickle, and tomato relish. We were super excited to see this menu item because we LOVE the Cheeseburger Pods at Satu’li Canteen in Disney World, and this is giving us some strong Cheeseburger Pod vibes…so does it measure up? Cheeseburger Bao This cheeseburger pod is essentially a Big Mac in a bao bun, and that’s what we love about it! We really enjoyed the grilled onions inside which added great flavor. The bun is thick, but light in taste. If you love a good Big Mac, you’ll really enjoy this cheeseburger bao. Check out our full review of California Craft Brews here! Frozen Mangonada Beer Slush at California Craft Brews The Frozen Mangonada Beer Slush for $18 is made with Brewery X Baja Boi, mango purée, rock melon syrup, grapefruit juice, and mango-chamoy glaze. Frozen Mangonada Beer Slush This bad boy is BIG. It might be your best bang for your buck at this booth and maybe at the festival in general. It is a refreshing play on a true mangonada. The beer flavor is hidden by the mango and chamoy, and overall the flavors are well-balanced. It would be a great pick for a hot day! Check out our full review of California Craft Brews here! Big Bad BBQ Pulled Pork Mac & Cheese at Nuts About Cheese The Big Bad BBQ Pulled Pork Mac and Cheese for $9 sports BBQ pulled pork and macaroni and cheese, and it’s topped with crispy dill pickle onions. We found it to be VERY tasty. The pork is cooked nicely and tastes great on its own. It’s seasoned well and the tangy barbecue adds a very pleasant sweetness. Big Bad BBQ Pulled Pork Mac & Cheese with crispy dill pickle onions The macaroni and cheese is creamy, delicious, and everything that good mac should be. Just make sure to get EVERYTHING in one bite to get a true explosion of flavor. (That might sound CHEESY but it’s true. ) $9 for mac and cheese is wild, but dare we say that this is worth it? Read our full review of Nuts About Cheese here! Olive Oil Cake at D-Lish The Olive Oil Cake for $7 is glazed with lemon curd, topped with vanilla bean Chantilly, and finished with fresh candied lemons, strawberry crunch, and lemon-lime gelée. Olive Oil Cake This cake has so much wonderful flavor with a mix of tart and sweetness. It’s refreshing and really tastes like spring. The cake is dense but moist. The vanilla bean Chantilly cream is light and airy and adds just an extra hint of sweetness. Confession time: we couldn’t stop eating this cake. Yes, D-Lish, we WILL be back. Check out our full review of D-Lish here. Huckleberry Citrus Cooler at D-Lish The Huckleberry-Citrus Cooler for $7 is non-alcoholic but still gives us those “treat yo’self” vibes. It is made with Gold Peak Black Tea, huckleberry and agave syrups, grapefruit soda, and lemon and orange juices garnished with an orange wedge. Perhaps the perfect drink to sip on while you are in a rocking chair on your front porch watching the sunset. Huckleberry Citrus Cooler It really is delicious and so refreshing. You get a nice tart lemonade flavor, but it’s still on the sweeter side. Both flavors balance each other out, though. We’re thinking this drink might be SUPER popular. Check out our full review of D-Lish here. BEST Returning Items for 2024 There weren’t a ton of returning bests this year, mostly just because there were so many new dishes at the 2024 festival! But there were definitely a couple of stand-outs that we have to mention. Carbonara-Garlic Mac & Cheese at D-Lish This dish moved to D-Lish from Garlic Kissed this year! The Carbonara Mac and Cheese is cheesy, crunchy, rich, and has tons of flavor thanks to the garlic and the bacon. You can grab it for $9. Carbonara Garlic Mac & Cheese featuring Nueske’s Peppered Bacon If you’re a mac and cheese aficionado or just can’t get enough garlic, give this one a try. Check out our full review of D-Lish here. BBQ Beef Brisket Slider at Cluck-a-Doodle-Moo We loved the BBQ Beef Brisket Slider at Cluck-a-Doodle-Moo. This slider features Fiscalini Farmstead Smoked Cheddar with dill pickles on salt & pepper on brioche. This slider is $9. BBQ Beef Brisket Slider with smoked white cheddar and dill pickles on salt and pepper brioche This is a GREAT sandwich. We got a generous portion of brisket, and we loved the smoked cheddar flavor that accompanied the meat. The pickles on the sandwich gave a nice crunch. The salt and pepper brioche bun was soft and fresh and complimented the brisket perfectly. Check out our full review of Cluck-a-Doodle Moo here. 2. Which is better Disneyland or Disney World? This might be a debate forever, but if you live in California or think Disneyland is the best, you likely visit Disneyland regularly. Sleeping Beauty Castle in Disneyland Those who prefer Disneyland can soon purchase the original Disney Park annual passes, Magic Keys, again SOON! Disney just announced these highly sought-after Magic Keys are going back on sale, and you’ll need to be ready to get yours. Magic Key tickets go on sale on March 5th! That’s tomorrow, y’all! All four pass types will be available for purchase starting at 9 AM PT. But you’ll be able to enter the online queue at 8:45 AM PT. ©Disney Since the passes go on sale right away in the morning, you might want to be prepared ahead of time by having a Disney account set up, because you’ll need to be logged in before going to the Magic Key sales page. You’ll also need the first and last name, date of birth, address, phone number (for anyone 18 and older), and email (for anyone 18 and older) for each person you’ll be buying a pass for. ©Disney You can enter the waiting room no earlier than 8:45 AM, and sales will not begin before 9 AM. 3. This is not the LA Style you’re thinking of. It wasn’t inspired by Project Runway, you won’t find any couture labels or fashionistas, but we still think Tim Gunn would give it a high score. 2024 booth The 2024 Disney California Adventure Food & Wine Festival has officially begun at Disneyland Resort and there are LOTS of things to do. From now through April 22nd, you can devour some tasty eats and drinks, check out unique entertainment, and more. Wondering just what you can eat at the LA Style booth? Well, we’ve checked it out, and now we’re sharing our FULL thoughts. Menu Over at LA Style, you’ll find a full menu of dishes inspired by the complicated and unique flavor trends from the City of Angels. 2024 Menu Now that we’ve taken a look at the menu, let’s dive into the food itself! Eats First up, we grabbed Carnitas-style Pork Belly for $9. Carnitas-style Pork Belly with esquites corn mac salad featuring Tajín Habanero The Carnitas-style Pork Belly comes with esquites corn mac salad featuring Tajín Habanero. Pork Belly is nothing new to this booth; we’ve seen it in many various forms over the years, and we’re not mad at it! Carnitas Style Pork Belly The pork was super juicy and packed with a sweet barbecue flavor. It has a nice glaze that really adds to the flavors and kind of seals them all together if that makes sense. The mac salad is cold and creamy, and the tajin topping gives it the perfect kick. The flavors totally work, but we think they’d work BETTER if the mac salad was warm. And now to try the new Baja-style Fish Tacos for $7.25. Baja Style Fish Taco The Baja-style Fish Tacos come with cabbage slaw, cilantro-lime crema and pico de gallo. These fancy and fresh tacos are plant-based, so they’re super-friendly bites for vegans and vegetarians! Baja-style Fish Taco with cabbage slaw, cilantro-lime crema and pico de gallo at LA Style This is plant-based fish, but it tastes like fish. Good fish does NOT taste like fish, so this was a major fail at imitating it. Like, this is actually not good. We tried it and said YUCK. Plus, the slaw is super bland and the cream sauce adds zero flavor. The flour tortilla is also super doughy and doesn’t add anything positive. It’s a big fat NO from us. Drinks And you can’t have an LA-inspired meal without an LA-inspired cocktail. Lucky for us, those fabulous West Coast Disney chefs and mixologists put together a Spicy Strawberry Cocktail for $17. Spicy Strawberry Cocktail This sweet and spicy potion is made with gin, strawberry and tamarind purées, strawberry syrup, pineapple juice, chile spices, and Tajín chamoy garnished with a Tamarindo straw. This has a super strong strawberry syrup taste. You can’t taste the booze because you’re too busy puckering from the sweetness of the syrup. It also has a good kick at the end — just a light spice to tie a little knot on all the taste notes. The tamarind taste is pretty dominant, which we loved. This is a good drink, but it could be made better with some sort of tart citrus to cut all that sweetness. OVERALL Overall, we’d totally recommend this booth to anyone who loves pork. The pork belly was delish. However, if you’re seeking a plant-based option, PLEASE go elsewhere. Imitation fish that tastes like poorly prepared fish just ain’t it. Oh, and if you’re looking for a cocktail that could double as a dessert, the Spicy Strawberry Cocktail is a great option. Overall, we wouldn’t go out of our way for this booth, though. LA Style That’s it for this booth, but there’s a LOT more where that came from! Click here to see FULL reviews of EVERY. SINGLE. BOOTH. at the Food & Wine Festival at Disneyland Resort! 4. If you’re thinking about dining at California Grill at Disney’s Contemporary Resort, you’ll want to keep reading. California Grill So the best thing about dining at California Grill is that you get a great view of Magic Kingdom. If you time your dinner just right, you can even watch the Happily Ever After fireworks (the music is piped into the restaurant) — dinner AND a show! But you may be a little hesitant to book that dining reservation for one reason: the menu is prix fixe (which means you pay one price and choose one item for each course from a limited menu) and none of the entrees appeal to you. But we’ve got a hack that changes everything. California Grill costs $89 per adult and $39 per child. For that, you get an appetizer, an entree, and a dessert. But let’s just say that none of the entrees appeals, to you or you like more of what you see on the appetizer menu. Don’t worry, WE GOT YOU! Fire Roasted Venison Okay, so everyone knows how good the sushi is at California Grill, right? Well, if you would rather just eat sushi as your entree, YOU CAN! Yep, you can order two appetizers, and have one of those be your entree instead. So if you want to double-up on sushi, you can do just that!!! We like to do this with the Wagyu Surf & Turf Roll (yep, we get two) because you’re getting two MASSIVE sushi rolls with Wagyu beef on top, meaning it’s a good value. Sushi at California Grill You don’t have to do this with just sushi, though — you can substitute your entree for any item on the appetizer menu. So you could get two appetizers and a dessert as your prix fixe meal. This just opens up more options for you if you want them! So keep that in mind if you do have plans to eat at California Grill in the future. Stay tuned to DFB for more! With DOZENS of places to eat at Disney World, we know it can be tough to plan your meals. That’s why we wrote the DFB Guide to Dining at Walt Disney World. 5. Y’all… we are truly SPEECHLESS right now. Disney Springs We have been to Disney World more times than we can count. We have learned SO MANY things about the parks over the years, and we thought we knew almost everything there was to know (silly us). However, we recently learned one thing on a recent visit to Disney Springs, and… we are upset. Since then, we’ve been asking ourselves how we even got to this point and are questioning our sanity (okay, maybe that’s dramatic). Since we learned this fact, we thought we needed to share it with y’all so you can also be in the know. Picture this: It is a sunny day at Disney Springs. There is a light breeze, and it’s the perfect temperature outside. You just walked out of World of Disney, and are admiring the LEGO displays outside the LEGO store. You wander over to the lake to check out the LEGO dragon in the lake… when all of a sudden, your world changes FOREVER. Aww, look at him! Now, we’re sure you’re wondering how this LEGO dragon fits into the upsetting thing that changed our lives forever. Unfortunately, he is the cause of our anguish. Deep down, under the water… this dragon is DISEMBODIED. Our world is shattered. That’s right! Underneath that waterline is just a base holding his neck up… not the rest of his body. Somehow we REALLY thought that underneath that water, the dragon’s body just continued and eventually came up out of the water again. Please, excuse us for a moment. Reliving this experience has been a hard moment for us. We’re obsessed with him Honestly, we’re not even sure why we thought that his body continued under the water since that doesn’t make the most sense, but here we are. When our reporter discovered this, most of us were SHOOK. Of course, we had a few team members who knew about this already and could laugh at our shock (and we love them anyway). We can never look at him the same way. What is most shocking is how many of us had NO IDEA that this was a thing. We truly didn’t know that this LEGO dragon was disembodied, but knowing that also answers a lot of our questions — like, how do they upkeep those LEGOs underwater? Newsflash DFB team, they don’t. We love him anyway Well, regardless of how much sense it made that this dragon had a body under all of that water, we were still shocked and lowkey upset about it. It took us a minute to gather ourselves, but now it’s something fun to laugh about (seriously, how did we NOT know?!). We hope that after your initial shock, you got a laugh out of it, too. Oh, LEGO dragon, the anguish you have caused. We’re always on the lookout for fun things like this to share with y’all, so keep checking back in with us at DFB to see what we find next! 10 Not-So-Magical Truths in Disney World Join the DFB Newsletter to get all the breaking news right in your inbox! 6. If you’re hungry, you have been WARNED. Seriously, reading this post while having a rumbly in your tumbly may be dangerous and cause you to book a trip to Disneyland ASAP. Still willing to read on? Okay, then, let’s get into the delicious details! Craft Brews 2024 The 2024 Disney California Adventure Food & Wine Festival has officially begun at Disneyland Resort, and there are LOTS of things to do. From now through April 22nd, you can devour some tasty eats and drinks, check out unique entertainment, and more. Wondering just what you can eat at the California Craft Brews, booth? Well, we’ve checked it out and are now sharing our FULL thoughts. Menu Over at the California Craft Brews, you’ll find a variety of available items. If you’re in the mood for an ice, cold brew (or two, or… seven…) and a fun twist on some comfort food, then this is your booth. Craft Brew Menu Now that we’ve taken a look at the menu, let’s dive into the food itself! Full Spread Eats First up, we grabbed the Cheeseburger Bao for $8.50. This is a new item for this booth this year. The Cheeseburger Bao comes with Thousand Island dressing, grilled onions, pickle, and tomato relish. We were super excited to see this menu item because we LOVE the Cheeseburger Pods at Satu’li Canteen in Disney World, and this is giving us some strong Cheeseburger Pod vibes, so does it measure up? Cheeseburger Bao This cheeseburger pod is essentially a Big Mac in a bao bun, and that’s what we love about it! We really enjoyed the grilled onions inside which added great flavor. The bun is thick, but light in taste. If you love a good Big Mac, you’ll really enjoy this cheeseburger bao. Cheeseburger Bao Next in the munchie category at this booth is the S’mores Caramel Tart for $7.00. This is another new item for this booth this year. The S’mores Caramel Tart is a graham cracker tart shell filled with caramel and chocolate ganache topped with a toasted marshmallow. S’mores Caramel Tart The chocolate in this s’more tart is rich and heavy. Tasting a traditional s’more treat in this tart was our favorite part about it. All the flavors of the chocolate, marshmallow, and graham cracker work very well together. You might think that the mousse will be flavorless because it has a light color, but don’t let it fool you — it’s full of flavor! While it was all really good, we thought the caramel was honestly unnecessary and not needed. S’mores tart And now that’s we’ve filled our bellies with cheesy, chocolatey goodness, it’s time to get our drink on! Drinks This booth is all about the brews — there are twelve in total! And if you can’t decide which one (or several) you want to try, Grab a flight! This booth offers 3 different beer flights for a little taste of everything. Beer Flights First up is the Cal-IPA Beer Flight for $18.50. This flight is comprised of the Crowns and Hops Brewing Co. Inglewood Sun, West Coast IPA, Unsung Brewing Co. Intracore IPA, Russian River Brewing Co. Blind Pig IPA, and the Stone Brewery Ruination Double IPA. IPA Beer Flight Our impression of this flight was, sadly, not great. We thought the Crowns and Hops Brewing Inglewood Sun was very good, but that was the only one we would recommend unless you drink IPAs regularly. The Inglewood Sun was very floral with a subtle fruity aftertaste. We also noticed hints of pine. We were quite impressed with it. The others, however, didn’t go down as smoothly. Cal – IPA beer flight Next up is the Spring Favorites Beer Flight for $18.50. This flight is comprised of the Bottle Logic Brewing Watermelon Lemonade Seltzer, Full Circle Brewing Co. Peachy Vibes Wheat Ale, Mission Brewing Foggy Shores Hefeweizen, and the Eagle Rock Brewery Golden Ale. Spring Favorites Flight The Spring Favorites Flight was our favorite flight at this booth! It was the lightest and most refreshing flight of drinks with the seltzers and ales. It also had the most diverse flavors. If you’re a beer drinker who doesn’t like the traditional taste of beer, then you’ll likely enjoy this flight. Spring Favorites Beer Flight The last flight of this round-up is the West Coast Beer Flight for $18.50. This flight is comprised of the Brewery X Baja Boi Mexican Lager with Salt and Lime Left Coast Brewing, Del Mar St. Dortmunder Style Export Lager, Delahunt Brewing Co, Salvatore Italian Pilsner, and the La Bodega Brewing Co. Pay the Piper Double IPA. West Coast Beer Flight If you’re planning to enjoy a flight with someone who has the opposite taste for beer than you, this is the flight you might want to opt for. Two of the beers are lighter and less hoppy (Brewery X Baja Boi Mexican Lager with Salt and Lime Left Coast Brewing and Del Mar St. Dortmunder Style Export Lager), while the other two are far hoppier and more bitter (Delahunt Brewing Co Salvatore Italian Pilsner and the La Bodega Brewing Co. Pay the Piper Double IPA). West Coast Beer Flight And if you’re looking for something a bit more fruit and sweet, this booth has you covered, too. New this year is the Frozen Mangonada Beer Slush for $18. This fun slush is made with Brewery X Baja Boi, mango purée, rock melon syrup, grapefruit juice, and mango-chamoy glaze. Frozen Mangonada Beer Slush This bad boy is BIG. It might be your best bang for your buck at this booth. It is a refreshing play on a true mangonada. The beer flavor is hidden by the mango and chamoy, and overall the flavors are well-balanced. It would be a great pick for a hot day! Frozen Mangonada Beer Slush OVERALL If you’re a fan of trying new beers, then this could be a must-stop booth for you! We had some hits and misses here, but since beer preferences vary so much, it might be worth stopping by to give one of the flights a try. And Big Mac and s’mores fans will surely want to visit Craft Brews. Full Spread 2024 That’s it for this booth, but there’s a LOT more where that came from! 8. Over the years of visiting Disney World daily, we’ve rounded up a pretty hefty list of our favorite snacks. Disney’s Hollywood Studios From the delicious Dole Whip treats to the yummy Adventureland spring rolls to our beloved Cheeseburger Pods in Pandora, there are plenty of great things to eat on your Disney vacation! But recently, it looks like Disney quietly CHANGED one of our favorite snacks. And we’re not happy about it! The Wookie Cookie has been a staple at Backlot Express for a few years now, and it has been a fan-favorite snack for Star Wars lovers and those who appreciate a simple oatmeal creme pie. But we got a heads-up from some of our followers on Instagram that the cookie changed recently…so I had to go check it out! Wookie Cookie from 2022 I headed to Backlot Express in Hollywood Studios and purchased one of the cookies for $6.79. Lo and behold, this definitely looks different than its predecessor! This cookie is not the same! When I took a bite, I found that the cookies were not quite as soft as the former version, and overall less similar to a Little Debbie Oatmeal Creme Pie. One of the complaints we heard about the new cookies is that they were hard and crunchy, and while mine were not, I could definitely see how these would be crunchy if you overbaked them a little bit. Not loving this one My main problem now is with the cookie filling. It has essentially no flavor besides just sugar. I would love some vanilla in here or more creaminess to it overall, but it was just whipped sugar and not much else. Nothing to write home about. Inside the cookie Ultimately, I do think this updated cookie is a bit of a downgrade from the original. I might not recommend this version as heartily anymore. Here’s to hoping they change it back to the OG soon! Stay tuned to DFB for more food news and updates from Disney World. 10. The Haunted Mansion queue is getting a make-over and we are “dying” to see all the changes! Haunted Mansion is closed and under construction. We are STILL mourning the loss of Haunted Mansion at Disneyland as of January 2024. While the white walls bring sorrow to our hearts, we are also excited for what is to come! We are expecting BIG changes over at Haunted Mansion, and we are breaking them all down for you! Haunted Mansion officially closed for refurbishment on January 21st, 2024, and while we don’t have a reopening date yet, we are expecting this closure to be fairly lengthy. A LOT is happening to the Haunted Mansion queue, and we can’t wait to see what is hiding behind those white walls! Disney announced the closure back in August 2023, and we are walking you through ALL the changes we are expecting to see! So, without further ado, let’s get started! Expansion of the Grounds with Enhanced Theming We love the lore of the Haunted Mansion, and we are SO excited to see that Disney is going to be further expanding on the story of the Haunted Mansion. The refurbishment will include an expansion of the outdoor queue with additional theming for guests to be immersed in. The legend behind the Haunted Mansion is that it was built by a sea captain. And ever since, the staff has been devoted to taking care of the “haunting grounds.” There will be more theming, but the pet cemetery isn’t going anywhere! The expanded queue will delve deeper into the stories of the Haunted Mansion and its grounds. Have no fear though, Disney did confirm that the pet cemetery and horse-drawn funeral hearse are not going anywhere! We definitely would have cried if they took away the pet cemetery! Check out this other Disneyland attraction that is undergoing refurb! New Garden Spaces The expansion of the grounds will also introduce some new garden spaces. The gardens are going to be inspired by Master Gracey, Madame Leota, and the one-eyed cat. Expanded Queue Concept Art ©Disney Every garden space will be unique and will have special elements like water fountains, gazebos, statuary, and themed landscaping. We have a feeling these gardens will be a ‘hauntingly’ good time! New Greenhouse The new garden spaces wouldn’t be complete without a greenhouse to grow the plants in! A new greenhouse will be added to the queue where the groundskeepers will grow all the plants! We want to see where those plants are grown! We must say that the ghosts really do know how to impress, and we can’t wait to see behind the scenes of their impressive landscaping! Additional Queue Accessibility We are also happy to report that along with the expanded queue, Disney will also be making the queue more accessible. An accessible queue is a GREAT queue! This will include installing a new elevator exit from the Haunted Mansion. We LOVE a good accessible queue! Stand-Alone Retail Shop Owned by Madame Leota Last but certainly not least, the Haunted Mansion will also be getting its own stand-alone retail store! WE ARE SO EXCITED!!! This new store will be owned by Madame Leota and will feature plenty of Haunted Mansion merchandise. The shop will be housed in the Carriage House of the mansion. Retail Store Concept Art ©Disney While this shop could be similar to Memento Mori in Magic Kingdom, it could also be completely different. Either way we are so thrilled for this addition! There you have it! These are ALL the queue changes that have been announced so far! We can’t wait to see the grand reveal and of course bring you all along with us! 12. Disney World is known as The Most Magical Place on Earth. Cinderella Castle And while this statement is true, sometimes wild, unbelievable, and creepy things take place at Disney World. Disney World is filled with magic and pixie dust, and that can make is seem as if nothing strange or scary could happen, but think again! Here are four wild, unbelievable, and creepy true stories that happened in Disney World. Before we get into it, let’s talk about a few persistent, creepy Disney World rumors that AREN’T true: No, Walt Disney’s body was not frozen, and no, it’s not being stored in the tunnels under Cinderella Castle. No, the ghost of a construction worker named George does not haunt the Pirates of the Caribbean ride. And YES, turkey legs are actually turkey — and not emu or ostrich as the rumors say! OK, let’s get back to those things that ACTUALLY happened! Cinderella Castle Fire Back in December of 2021, there was a small fire in the Magic Kingdom near Cinderella Castle. Emergency vehicles could be seen going down Main Street — which is certainly not something that you see every day. The fire was found behind the castle, and it was assumed that a tree had caught on fire due to a falling firework. Emergency vehicles in Magic Kingdom Guests who were dining at Cinderella’s Royal Table were evacuated as a safety precaution and had their meals comped by Disney. Magic Kingdom was completely back to normal the next day, and Cinderella’s Royal Table also welcomed back guests the next morning. Dining Room at Cinderella’s Royal Table When you think about the nightly fireworks over Cinderella Castle, it really is suprising that there are not more issues like this! If you’ve ever noticed sprinklers going on the roofs of buildings near the castle in Fantasyland, now you know why — Disney wets down the roofs before and during the fireworks to prevent trouble from the sparks that are flying in the sky. After more than 50 years of nightly fireworks, they know a thing or two about fire prevention! Maleficent Dragon Float Fire Speaking of fire in Magic Kingdom, there is another fire took place in May of 2018. In the Festival of Fantasy Parade, the Maleficent dragon float breathes real fire. Unfortunately during this parade, the float malfunctioned, causing the float to catch on fire. Guests watched as Maleficent’s head was engulfed in flames. Maleficent Dragon Float on Fire || ©Orlando Sentinel The fire-breathing effect had to wait five years until it was used again in Magic Kingdom in 2023. While not at Disney World, Disneyland’s Maleficent dragon also caught on fire back in 2023 during Fantasmic! Fantasmic! is set to return this May in Disneyland after being closed since the night of the fire. The Maleficent dragon on fire in Disneyland Again, Disney uses pyrotechnics safely nearly every day in Disney World, and they take every precaution. But sometimes, accidents do happen! Bear in Magic Kingdom Yet another story from Magic Kingdom, but don’t worry — this one does not involve fire. In September 2023, guests visiting Magic Kingdom were met with half of the park being closed. Why? Oh because a bear was roaming around the park! The Magic Kingdom bear || @WESH And no, we’re not talking about Big Al or Wendell from Country Bear Jamboree. This was the local wildlife, but we can’t help but think this guy wasn’t just trying to ride Big Thunder Mountain Railroad before the midday crowds picked up! The bear was found in a tree and was later captured and released into the wild. The rest of the park re-opened the same day. Country Bear Jamboree Let’s not forget Disney World was built on largely undeveloped land — much of it home to alligators, bobcats, deer, Florida panthers, and yes, the Florida black bear. You might be surprised to know that 62% of the land Disney World owns is STILL undeveloped, and covenants on the land require that 30% of it always remain undeveloped for conservation. So yes, all of those species still live around Disney World, but you won’t see most of them in the parks — guess they aren’t Annual Passholders yet! Cremains on the Haunted Mansion It is no secret that there is always “room for one more” in the Haunted Mansion, but unfortunately, people have taken this too literally. People have actually brought their loved ones’ ashes to be scattered in the Haunted Mansion. The Haunted Mansion Not only is this illegal, but the fate of the ashes is not great. Disney uses HEPA-filtered vacuums to clean the ashes up, which means your loved one will end up in the trash. This is gross and causes a safety hazard, so please do not attempt to do this. Stretching Room Not to mention that sometimes when the Haunted Mansion goes down, this is the reason. We understand that many people love Disney World so much that their loved ones may want to leave a piece of them behind there, but this just isn’t the place. These stories may be wild or creepy, but Disney’s high safety standards are on display every day throughout Disney World. There are thousands of employees and tens of thousands more travelers in the parks and hotels every day — having a blast in a safe environment. If you ever have a safety or security concern at Disney World, every Cast Member is trained on what to do in an emergency, so don’t hesitate to contact them! Want to Read More Disney Stories? 13. We’ll say it once and we’ll say it again: Cast Members are what makes Disney World SO magical. Cast Members creating magic Cast Members are always going above and beyond to sprinkle a little extra pixie dust on our day. They’re always so sweet in sharing their personal stories. That’s why we are always telling you to use that Cast Compliment feature on the My Disney Experience app because we want to give back to them after they’ve given so much to us. Well, one Cast Member has received so much feedback from you that he’s been recognized by Disney! If you’ve ever visited Disney’s Hollywood Studios, you may have met Willie, one of the PhotoPass photographers at the park. Well, Disney just recognized Willie as the most complimented Cast Member in Disney World for two years in a row! If you’ve met Willie, you’ll know why. However, if you watch the video, you’ll see why we all love him so much! We could learn so much from Willie. As he says, “I won’t let nobody take away my smile.” Congratulations, Willie, you’ve deserved every single Cast Compliment you’ve been given! PhotoPass Cast Members If you’d like to recognize a special Disney Cast Member (again, we highly recommend you do this as often as you can), you can do so by sharing a compliment with the hashtag #CastCompliment on social media or by visiting Guest Services in whichever park the Cast Member works. You can also recognize a Cast Member through the My Disney Experience app. To do that, open the app and click on the three bars in the bottom right corner. Scroll until you see Cast Compliment. Tap on that, and you’ll be taken to Mobile Cast Compliment, where you can give a compliment to a specific Cast Member by entering their first name, hometown (or college), and date of interaction. The more information you can provide about the Cast Membes, the better Disney can identify them! ©Disney Stay tuned to DFB for more. 8 Confessions of a Former Disney Cast Member Join the DFB Newsletter to get all the breaking news right in your inbox! 14. We’ve told you to read the fine print. You know to double-check those flight dates before purchasing your airline tickets. We even make sure to comb through all the Disney World park hours to make sure you’re aware of any important changes. But even Disney EXPERTS make mistakes. Even people who go to the parks every single DAY may be surprised by a sneaky sign or an unexpected closure. Casey’s Corner That’s what we’re here for! We’re here to let you learn from our mistakes. During a recent visit to Magic Kingdom, we overheard an interesting conversation in Frontierland. That conversation sparked an investigation, and we suddenly found ourselves running all over Magic Kingdom, looking for proof. We came to a confusing conclusion. Time to explain. It all started at the Golden Oak Outpost. It was later in the afternoon, and we found ourselves in line for some beignets. Tiana’s Famous Beignets in Magic Kingdom Here’s the thing — this snack stand has some wonky hours and closes rather early in the evening. But when you walk up to the stand in Frontierland, there’s no way to tell when the stand will open or close! When you walk up to most restaurants in your hometown, you can bet that there is a clear sign with the hours posted front and center. But for some reason, Disney makes it VERY hard to tell when those outdoor snack stands and quick-service restaurants will open or close. Let us show you. This spot has mysterious hours! After juuuuust making it to the front of the line before closing, we successfully procured some beignets. But that got us thinking — is this a common problem? Turns out it is! We walked over to Tortuga Tavern and searched high and low for some kind of signage. No luck. There’s no easy way to see when this spot will be open or closed in Magic Kingdom! Luckily, our reporters visit this spot enough to know that Tortuga Tavern is typically open 11-5, but unless you’re a Magic Kingdom regular, you probably wouldn’t know that! It’s hard to tell when this place is open! Next stop: Pecos Bill’s Tall Tale Inn and Cafe. Once again, we found a little menu board…but no operating hours. What gives, Disney?! The hours are a mystery! Our predictions were confirmed at Pinocchio Village Haus. No hours are listed outside. Are you seeing a theme here? Even if you visit the parks all the time, put yourself in the shoes of a first-timer. Figuring out what’s open early in the morning and later in the evening is just plain confusing! Pinocchio Village Haus Oddly, there was ONE Magic Kingdom restaurant we found that DID have hours listed outside. Good old Columbia Harbour House had a handy sign that told us exactly when the restaurant would be open. Ta-da! Do you see that?! This is clearly a recurring problem, and we can’t figure out why Disney won’t just post the hours. We’ve seen so many people walk up to Tortuga Tavern, see that it’s closed, and assume that it’s only open seasonally. But in truth, that sign reading “Tortuga Tavern isn’t operating at this time” (but, you know, in fancier Disney language) really just means it isn’t CURRENTLY open. You may just be passing by too early (or late) in the day! They don’t make it easy! Let this be a friendly reminder to pay close attention to those Disney World snack stands! When in doubt, the restaurants closer to the front of Magic Kingdom are often open later, as Main Street, U.S.A. is the last part of the park to close each night. In the meantime, we’re always on the lookout for the latest Disney news, so stay tuned for more. REVIEW: Should Disney World Turn This Restaurant Into Tiana’s Palace?! 15. The Magic Kingdom Expansion has been a big talking point and Disney World fans are excited to see what is to come. Magic Kingdom Some things have changed since the idea of what lies beyond Big Thunder Mountain was teased at D23 in 2022. Let’s take a look at what is different compared to the original announcement. Back at the D23 Expo (Disney’s fan convention) in 2022, Disney gave us a glimpse at some Blue Sky ideas for Magic Kingdom. A Blue Sky idea is a project that the company is talking about, but it’s still in the “dreaming” stages of development. Blue Sky ideas can and do happen — but they rarely come to fruition exactly as they are first conceived. They’re a “first draft,” if you will. Concept art of potential Magic Kingdom expansion including ‘Coco’ and Villains So at that first “Blue Sky” discussion in 2022, Disney talked about ideas for lands that would lie beyond Big Thunder Mountain Railroad. This talk included the possibility a Coco-themed land, a Disney villains-themed land, and an Encanto-themed land. Possible Villain Land Expansion Coming to Magic Kingdom What we do know right now is that those ideas have probably changed! At Destination D23 (another Disney fan event) in September 2023, Disney gave us a big clue about what we WON’T see as a Magic Kingdom expansion — Encanto. But don’t worry Encanto fans, this is because this idea is being taken to another park in Disney World! Animal Kingdom At Destination D23, Disney announced that DinoLand U.S.A. in Animal Kingdom will undergo a re-theme to a land inspired by the Tropical Americas. This area would take elements inspired by movies that take place there — like Encanto. ©Disney Dinoland re-theme concept art During a special edition of 20/20 celebrating Disney100, Disney shared the concept art for the DinoLand re-theme. Lin-Manuel Miranda made an appearance on the special and said “I want to go inside Casita, don’t you? I don’t even know what that would look like, but some genius imagineer does!” Lin Manuel-Miranda While we still do not know what will be officially part of the Magic Kingdom expansion, it is safe to say that an Encanto-inspired land is more likely in Animal Kingdom rather than Magic Kingdom like it was originally teased. DinoLand Another possibility teased for this new Tropical Americas land in Animal Kingdom was an Indiana Jones ride! This seems especially likely since the Indiana Jones Adventure ride in Disneyland uses the same ride system as Dinosaur –which is already sitting in Dinoland U.S.A. ©Disney This still leaves imagineers with two other Blue Sky ideas for what lies beyond Big Thunder Mountain, a Disney villains-inspired land and a Coco-themed land. We hope Disney will drop new details soon, and when they do we will make sure to keep you updated! Read More About the Animal Kingdom Expansion Here! 17. There’s something BIG coming soon to Magic Kingdom! Pecos Bill Tall Tale Inn & Cafe Tiana’s Bayou Adventure is opening summer 2024, replacing the former Splash Mountain. With such a major new ride in the park, we’re left wondering what else might change over in Frontierland to adapt to Tiana’s arrival. One thing that has been speculated for months is that Disney will turn the nearby Pecos Bill Tall Tale Inn & Cafe into a Tiana’s Palace restaurant…but should they REALLY do that? A Tiana’s Palace quick service restaurant opened in Disneyland Park in 2023, and many have wondered if Disney would do the same on the east coast. Pecos Bill seems the obvious choice for a retheme, but the restaurant has some pretty unique offerings as is. Would it be worth it to replace the Tex-Mex food with Louisiana fare? I took a trip recently to Pecos Bill Tall Tale Inn & Cafe to do a full review, and to see if the restaurant is worth scrapping for a change of scene! Atmosphere When you walk into the main entrance of the restaurant, you’ll head straight into the ordering counters. One side of this room is occupied with Cast Members taking orders… The counters inside …while the other is often dedicated solely to Mobile Order pickups. Mobile Ordering through the My Disney Experience app is usually pretty easy and straightforward here. Mobile Order pickup Once you’ve got your food, don’t forget to stop at the condiment bar! This used to be a full-fledged toppings bar, but now it’s just home to prepackaged condiments like mustard, ketchup, and mayonnaise. Condiment Bar There are a few different dining spaces throughout the restaurant. One of the rooms is themed like an outdoor marketplace at nighttime. Seating The main dining room has dozens of tables, and it’s usually the easiest place to find a seat. It also has access to the outdoor seating area. Main room The outdoor seating area is great for those nice-weather days. Some of the tables have umbrellas for coverage, but this is probably not your best option when it rains. Outdoor seating If you can’t find anywhere to sit, a great place to scope out is the upstairs seating area. Simply find the ramp and head on up! Upstairs This space is shared seating with Tortuga Tavern, but it typically only fills up on really busy days. It’s also a little bit quieter up here. Shared Tortuga Tavern seating Throughout Pecos Bill Tall Tale Inn & Cafe, you’ll find some fun wild west artifacts and nods, like Annie Oakley’s pistols. Theming details And of course, they’ve got the Code of the West posted on the wall as well. You think you can handle these rules? They’ve even got a code! Now that we’ve fully explored the restaurant, let’s dig into the menu. Menu The list of entrees here is pretty hefty, with 13 different options on the main menu. They’ve got everything from tacos to cheeseburgers to fajitas to rice bowls. It’s a smorgasbord! ©Disney If you’re a plant-based eater, you can get the Veggie Rice Bowl. For sides, they serve offerings like tortilla chips, guacamole, rice, pinto beans, and Uncrustables. ©Disney Your kiddos can get in on the Tex-Mex menu as well, with meals like tacos and rice bowls. ©Disney And of course, we can’t skip dessert! They have mini churros, a strawberry limeade slush, doughnut holes, and a trifle. ©Disney Now let’s see if the eats taste as good as they sound! Eats During my visit, I wanted to try a variety of items to really get a feel for Pecos Bill. Here’s the full spread that I ordered. The full spread! Starting with an appetizer, I got the Chips and Queso for $5.99. You can order each of these items separately or as a combo through Mobile Order. Starting out with some chips and queso! The chips here are pretty authentic chips like you’d get at your local Mexican restaurant. They’re corn tortillas, fresh-fried, and covered with just the right amount of salt so that they’re not too salty. They have a nice crunch, and honestly, I wish Disney served these as a side all around Magic Kingdom instead of those house-made potato chips that are often overcooked. Just LOOK at those beauties! The queso is also a winner! You get a pretty large cup of it, and it’s cheesy with a little creaminess. There’s a tiny hint of pepper spice to it, but not too much that your kids or spice-averse friends should avoid it. Delicious. I want this on EVERYTHING From there, I moved on to the entrees, and things got significantly less exciting. First I went for the Fajita Platter, which is served with pork carnitas and seasoned chicken with cilantro rice, pinto beans, fajita vegetables, lettuce, tomato, sour cream, salsa, and flour tortillas. You can get this hefty platter for $15.49. Fajita Platter Starting with the pork carnitas, the meat was tender and shredded, but it didn’t have a lot of flavor to it overall, coming off kind of bland. A few pieces were overly fatty, as well. Pork Carnitas The chicken wasn’t much better, as it had some gristly pieces and wasn’t seasoned very much either. Meat is the big area where Pecos Bill has let me down in the past, and that trend seemed to continue with this meal. I would just expect a little more spice and pizzazz from Tex-Mex meat. Chicken The platter comes with pinto beans, but I think black beans would’ve been a better choice. The beans were really mushy and once again, underseasoned. They felt like just a plate filler. The same goes for the peppers and onions. Disney really piles a LOT of them on the platter and it seems like they’re just doing it to keep from giving you a decent portion of meat. The beans I didn’t really have any complaints about the tortillas, as they were just plain flour tortillas. The rice, however, was fairly bland but pretty severely undercooked. Many pieces were still quite crunchy and hard to chew. Rice and tortillas Okay…so the Fajita Platter didn’t fare too well. But what about the Pork Carnitas Rice Bowl for $12.29? It’s made with cilantro rice topped with seasoned pork, grilled peppers and onions, pinto beans, lettuce, tomato, sour cream, and salsa. Pork Carnitas Rice Bowl This meal is a smaller size overall, but you get a decent portion of pork. I had the same problems with the meat here that I did in the fajita platter though — it wasn’t seasoned very well and some pieces were a bit on the fatty side. It’s a decent portion of pork! The bowl is half filled with peppers and onions. They had a nice crunch, but the portion size is a bit excessive. And again, you’ve got pinto beans. Fine, but not really interesting in any way. SO many peppers and onions The description says the bowl comes with cilantro rice, but I couldn’t detect the cilantro flavor in it at all. It was fairly bland, and like the rice on the platter, it was undercooked…leaving plenty of crunchy pieces throughout. A good forkfull With your entrees, you can also opt to purchase a side of guacamole. This will raise the cost of your meal by $2. It comes prepackaged The guacamole they give you is prepackaged, but it’s not bad! The avocado flavor is strong and it’s pretty creamy with a few little chunks throughout. It has a nice bright lime flavor to it as well. If you’re a big guacamole fan, it might be a good addition to your meal. The GOODS So I had a good appetizer, some questionable entrees, and a yummy side of guac. What’s next? The final part of the meal was dessert, and I opted for the Peach and Raspberry Trifle for $5.99. It’s made with crumbled cake, strawberry pearls, and edible flowers. Peach and Raspberry Trifle And this? This was a pretty good way to wrap up! There are legit chunks of peach in the cake layer, and the raspberry sits at the bottom, just waiting to be scooped up in every bite. The cake might be dry without the whipped cream and raspberry sauce, but the fruity and tangy flavors meshed really well together. Mmmmm So how does Pecos Bill fare? Should it be replaced? Overall Honestly, this isn’t on my list of go-to restaurants in Magic Kingdom. I’ve had enough rough experiences here (typically with their meat!) to warrant me avoiding it often. The entrees aren’t particularly interesting, and the Tex-Mex food isn’t quite good enough for me to say that this restaurant deserves to stick around. I’m personally team Tiana’s Palace instead! All the eats The redeeming qualities here are the chips, queso, and trifle. But if Disney could just move those items to another nearby spot (like Tortuga Tavern, for instance), I would be totally okay with Pecos Bill getting a full overhaul. Nosh or Not? Mosey out to the wild west and dine at Pecos Bill if… You’re REALLY craving some Tex-Mex food. There aren’t really any other Tex-Mex options in Magic Kingdom, so Pecos Bill would be your best choice if that’s what your craving. The queso is worth a try for sure! You’re sick of burgers, hot dogs, and pizza. Outside of those three food options, there aren’t too many choices leftover in Magic Kingdom. Columbia Harbour House might be another good spot if you’re craving seafood, but Pecos Bill adds a bit of variety for sure. You want a seat indoors. There are lots of indoor seats at this restaurant, and if you walk a few laps, you’re bound to find one…even during the lunch rush. Saddle up and stroll to the next place in town if… You have a high standard for Mexican food. This place certainly isn’t going to blow your local Mexican restaurant out of the water, and I’ve personally enjoyed meals at chains like Moe’s and Chipotle more than Pecos Bill. You’re okay with walking to another part of the park. If you don’t have to eat in Frontierland, there are great options in both Adventureland and Liberty Square. I had a delicious review at Tortuga Tavern recently, and Columbia Harbour House is a fan favorite. Inside Pecos Bill That’s a wrap on my visit to Pecos Bill! 19. There are two times a year when we can’t WAIT to visit Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa. Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort One of those times is during the holiday season when the hotel puts up its elaborate — and life-sized– gingerbread house. The other time of the year is NOW, just before Easter, when the hotel puts out its amazing chocolate Easter egg display. Well, the day has arrived, and that display is NOW UP! Seriously, just WAIT until you see some of these gorgeous eggs MADE BY HAND. Prepare to be amazed because this year’s Easter egg display could be the best one yet. Seriously, the amount of artistry and creativity it takes to prepare these eggs just blows us away. Check out these amazing details on this Beauty and the Beast egg. How beautiful is this thing? We just can’t even! The ROSE!!! This Moana Kakamora display is defying gravity! Kakamora There’s even a display dedicated to Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railway. It’s a reimagined version of the Grauman’s Chinese Theatre as an egg! One of our fave rides! What’s most impressive about this are the little details, like Donald’s webbed footprints on the Walk of Fame. The level of detail! Of course, we might have a favorite egg here because it’s dedicated to Disney snacks! Okay, this one wins; everyone can go home now. Disney snacks egg Um, they even made little Mickey pretzels and turkey legs for this thing! ICONIC. LOOK!!! Okay, we lied — the most impressive egg in this display is this stunning Alice in Wonderland egg. Yes, it looks like a clock, but guess what? It really is a clock. It WORKS. Like it can tell us the time. The clock WORKS The other side is made the same way — with a working clock! HOW DID THEY DO THAT? Mind blown We could spend all day telling you about all the amazing eggs, but we encourage you to go see the display for yourself if you have a chance. We do have a word of warning if you’re thinking about driving to the Grand Floridian to see the Easter display. Here’s the thing: we were not allowed to park at the resort and were sent to the Transportation and Ticket Center, where we had to take the Monorail to the Grand Floridian. So keep that in mind. 22. A LOT has changed in Disney World over the past several years. Disney’s Hollywood Studios We’ve seen new rides open in both EPCOT and Magic Kingdom. We’ve witnessed the launch of Genie+ and all the changes its seen since then. We watched EPCOT completely transform! Well, we’ve got a new CHANGE to tell you about. Meeting characters in Disney’s Hollywood Studios is DIFFERENT. If you’ve visited Hollywood Studios recently, you may have noticed that some characters there don’t have actual meet and greets, but they do appear in “character sightings.” This means they’re just kinda doing their own thing and maybe occasionally waving at guests from a distance. For example, we can’t tell you how many times we’ve watched Chip ‘n’ Dale have a picnic in the center of the park. Chip ‘n’ Dale having a picnic Well, that has changed! Now, these characters are available for actual meet-and-greets! Instead of having a picnic on the lawn, Chip and Dale are waiting to meet YOU (and probably also trying to get up to some hijinx, knowing them). Those mischievous chipmunks As long as the weather permits, these two will meet by Echo Lake. You’ll also find information on how to find them in the My Disney Experience app, which has also been updated with new meet-and-greet times and locations. ©Disney Also, Donald and Daisy are no longer participating in character sightings but actual meet-and-greets. These two are SO much fun. We love how Daisy always keeps Donald in line. Donald and Daisy! You can find their new meet-and-greet location on the app, too. They’re over by Dinosaur Gertie! ©Disney Goofy and Max have moved over to Grand Avenue for their meet-and-greet! Goofy and Max Now, this meet-and-greet isn’t brand-new, as Goofy has been hanging out here for a while, but we wanted to make sure you knew the pair had moved. You used to be able to see Max over at Echo Lake, and Goofy even visited the Tower of Terror from time to time back in the day. ©Disney So that means you have an opportunity to get photos with even MORE characters at Hollywood Studios. For those of you who rely on Disney Cast Members for your Disney photos — we saw PhotoPass photographers with each character couple! Note that times and locations could change from day to day, so be sure to check the My Disney Experience app to get the most updated information. Stay tuned to DFB for more! Hold up for a sec! 23. This week was a BIG week for EPCOT. EPCOT Of course, there is a LOT that happens in each of the Disney World parks every day, but sometimes individual parks tend to get all the spotlight. This was the case for EPCOT, which started its 2024 Flower and Garden Festival this week. You already KNOW we were there and having the time of our lives trying all the springtime sips and savors. Well, we’re taking you with us for a few EPCOT highlights from this week. Let’s go! Aright, who’s ready for some Flower and Garden Festival?! We Paid $32.75 for DOLE Whip At the festival, you can participate in something called Garden Graze. To participate, you’ll need to buy five of the qualifying food items from festival booths around EPCOT. When you get one of the items, make sure to get your Passport stamped at that booth. Although you only need to eat five of those items, this year’s list includes eight options, so you’ll be able to pick those things that sound best to you! This year’s Garden Graze items are: Bauernmarkt: Farmer’s Market (Germany Pavilion): Potato Pancakes with House-Made Apple Sauce BRUNCHCOT (Near Test Track presented by Chevrolet): Avocado Toast with Marinated Tomatoes and Plant-Based Cheese Crumbles on Toasted Ciabatta EPCOT Farmers Feast (Near Test Track presented by Chevrolet): Grilled Street Corn on the Cob with Savory Garlic Spread and Plant-Based Cheese Florida Fresh (Near Disney Traders): Florida Strawberry Shortcake La Isla Fresca (Between the France and Morocco Pavilions): Coconut Tres Leches: Vanilla Cake soaked with Oat, Almond, and Coconut Milks topped with Toasted Coconut Refreshment Outpost: Seasonal Fruit Parfait with Sweet Chili Sauce and Mango DOLE Whip® Refreshment Port (Near Canada Pavilion): Plant-Based Buffalo Chicken Tender Poutine on Crispy Potato Barrels with Plant-Based Ranch and Blue Cheese Crumbles Trowel & Trellis (Near Disney Traders): Impossible Farmhouse Meatball with Lentil Bread, Spinach, Marinated Vegetables and Creamy Herb Aioli After buying five items, we were able to collect our prize! Garden Graze Prize It was a DOLE Whip in a souvenir cup with a pack of seeds. Yep, we paid $32.75 for a DOLE Whip and have no regrets. We Won ANOTHER Prize For Finding BEES Spike’s Pollen Nation Exploration scavenger hunt takes place throughout EPCOT and lasts for the duration of the festival. The Disney honeybee character named Spike is pollinating his way through the festival, and visitors can follow his trail. You can buy a scavenger hunt map and stickers from World Traveler, Creations Shop, Port of Entry, Disney Traders, and even some of the festival booths! It’s Spike! The map costs $9.99, but you can apply Annual Passholder and Disney Vacation Club discounts. You’ll search for Spike the Bee around EPCOT and place the stickers in the correct spot on the map. Spike’s Pollen Nation Exploration Once your map is complete, you can return it to Creations, World Traveler, Port of Entry, or Disney Traders and collect a prize! Back in 2023, the prize was an array of cups and plates featuring Orange Bird, Spike the Bee, Figment, or Snow White! This year’s prize is even BETTER in our opinion — you get to choose a miniature game of corn hole! Mini Corn Hole Honestly, this is so cute. 10/10. Finally, let’s talk about a big CHANGE. Soarin’ CHANGED This Week! Soarin’ Over California came BACK to Disney World for a limited-time run to celebrate Disney’s 100th anniversary, but we never guessed it would last this long. Soarin’ Around the World is back We’re excited that this version of the ride is back, but we’ll miss Soarin’ Over California. 24. What do Te Fiti, Mrs. Incredible, and Princess Tiana all have in common? They’re just a small sample of the many STRONG and powerful females in the Disney cinematic universe. (And we get excited every time we see each of these ICONS in the Disney parks, too!) Journey of Water OK, so why are we talking about iconic Disney women? Well, it’s officially Women’s History Month! To celebrate the occasion, Disney is releasing a TON of new treats around the parks and resorts, including cupcakes, shakes, and more! With all these tempting treats to try, it can be hard to decide what’s worth it. Luckily, we’re here to help! Come with us on a snack-filled JOURNEY around Disney World as we try TONS of new Disney treats. Let’s start our food tour at Magic Kingdom. Over at the Main Street Bakery, you can try the NEW Minnie Mouse Cupcake! This is a chocolate chip cupcake with cheesecake filling topped with chocolate buttercream, chocolate “ears,” and a chocolate bow! You can try it for $5.99, and it will be available through March 31st. Minnie Mouse Cupcake Okay, so if you’re a frosting person, this has a VERY fudgy, chocolatey, rich, and creamy frosting (can we just get a cup of this icing, please?). We also thought the chocolate chips inside the cheesecake filling provided a nice little crunch. You get plenty of cheesecake filling, and it gives the cupcake a nice cream cheese flavor. That frosting! BUT…the cupcake we got was VERY dry. The whole thing is also exceptionally rich, which might be too much for some people. But we think chocolate lovers will appreciate this treat. If you can handle a lot of SWEET flavor, this cute little cupcake might make a fun treat during your day in Magic Kingdom. In the meantime, we’re always on the lookout for the latest Disney news, so stay tuned for more. See ALL the treats available during Women’s History Month HERE! 25. We love the My Disney Experience App … until we can’t stand it. ©Shutterstock Now look, we love getting to see Disney World wait times in real-time no matter where we are in the world, and we love that we can Mobile Order our food ahead of time from so many different quick-service spots, and make reservations for table-service dining. But sometimes the app glitches, big time, and that’s caused some MAJOR problems for our readers on Facebook, so here’s how you can be prepared! Constantly Being Logged Out Consistently being logged out of My Disney Experience is quite the common occurrence, and it’s pretty annoying, especially when you’re trying to do something quickly. ©Disney This is especially true when you’re trying to grab Lightning Lanes throughout the day, or a Virtual Queue or Individual Lightning Lane at the beginning of the day. To combat this issue, we suggest logging into your My Disney Experience App at least 5 minutes before you’ll need to use it quickly (but not more than 10 minutes!) so you can ensure you’ll be signed in. Even better, just keep the app open on your phone and don’t let it fall asleep! Here are our 5 top tips for snagging that virtual queue spot! Virtual Queue or Individual Lightning Lane Disappearing Many of you shared with us that they dealt with their spot in the virtual queue or their Individual Lightning Lane selection completely disappearing from the app! This is a big deal, and it means it may be really difficult to prove to a Cast Member that you did indeed have those reservations. TRON Lightcycle / Run Virtual Queue In this specific case, we had a reader tell us that they were informed by the Cast Member that the items hadn’t saved because of the age of their phones! We don’t have any research to back up this claim, but it is something to keep in mind if you’re going to Disney with an older phone. And we also recommend doing exactly what our reader did — take screenshots of all those reservations and plans you have in the app that you worked hard to get! This way, you have proof that you did snag that spot before it was filled up, or that you paid for the Individual Lightning Lane. Here are 3 proven ways to avoid stressful situations in Disney World. Dining Reservations Being Deleted Accidentally Speaking of things disappearing, we also had multiple people share with us that they ran into their dining reservations disappearing in the app! This can also cause some pretty serious issues, especially if it’s a very coveted reservation that you successfully grabbed 60 days before your trip. Cinderella’s Royal Table How to avoid this hassle? Again, just take those screenshots! And not just of the page saying you have the reservation, but also who’s included on the reservation, just in case it only kicks *some* of your party off (it’s happened!). Here are 3 HUGE tips for getting hard-to-get reservations in Disney World! Couldn’t Get Into Their Rooms! And last but most certainly not least, we have a nightmare that you may not have thought of. You know your MagicBand that you’ve connected to your app and it’s going to let you open your door without a key from the hotel? Guess what happens if the app won’t work? Disney’s Boardwalk Inn Yep. Two of our readers shared with us that this horror story happened to them — the My Disney Experience App wasn’t working properly, which meant that their MagicBands wouldn’t let them into their rooms. One of them told us that after that experience, they ALWAYS get at least one key from the front desk during the beginning of their stay, just to ensure it doesn’t happen again. If this ever happens to you, don’t panic! Head down to the front desk right away and explain the situation. They’ll be able to issue you a keycard with no issues and you’ll be back in your room in no time. Disney’s Pop Century Resort All in all, when it doubt, take those screenshots and have them saved safely on your phone in case everything goes wrong! And remember, it’s not the Cast Members’ fault the app is down, so please be kind to them as they’re helping you with your needs. No one likes to be yelled at!
