  2. It’s the circle of SNACKS! Animal Kingdom Animal Kingdom is our hidden gem for incredible snacks and treats, and with these five new bites, you’re going to want to run to Disney World right now (but you’ll probably want to come on an empty stomach). We ran straight to Harambe Market in Africa to get the Mango Vanilla-Mousse for $6.19. Mango Vanilla Mousse It’s a tropical fruit-glazed vanilla milk mousse with a mango-passion compote and whipped panna cotta. It was so light and airy, with a gorgeous, soft texture. There were chunks of mango that added a more of a bite, contrasting with the soft mousse. The mousse is on top of a soft graham cracker crust, which adds a nice crunch to each bite. The mango flavor is forward, and for $6, this is a steal! It’s a great dessert that feels special for a great price point and a perfect balance of sweetness. Inside Next to Harambe Market, we stopped by the snack stand with the open grill and yellow bike in front of it. We ordered the Grilled Corn on the Cob for $5.29. Grilled Corn This corn is grilled right in front of you and is coated in African spices. Animal Kingdom has had grilled corn in the past, and this version is a little different, but it is still packed with flavor. The spice rub was salty with a bit of sweetness, and the curry spices were strong. It wasn’t spicy, and we overall thought it was a fun snack to pick up. Yum! Heading to DinoLand U.S.A., we went to Dino-Bite Snacks and grabbed the Strawberry Shortcake Ice Cream Sandwich for $8.79. Strawberry Shortcake Ice Cream Sandwich This ice cream sandwich is made with strawberry ice cream between two strawberry crumble-baked sugar cookies dipped in a strawberry crumble. Look at that crumble! It melted FAST, but that’s okay because we also wanted to eat it fast! The ice cream had chunks of strawberries inside for a bite, and the outside cookies were incredibly soft. Because the cookies are plain sugar cookies, they help balance out the strawberry flavors and create an incredible bite. It’s definitely strawberry forward but not overwhelming! Whole chunks in the ice cream At Satu’li Canteen in Pandora, we had the Specialty Cold Brew Flight for $8.79. The flight comes with three Joffrey’s Coffee Cold Brews, including their traditional brew, matcha cold brew, and ube cold brew. Specialty Brews The traditional cold brew was Joffrey’s classic cold brew, which we know and love! It’s slightly sweeter than other cold brew brands, but it’s always refreshing. Traditional The ube cold brew was our favorite because it had the same vibe as an ice cream float, complete with all the whipped cream on top. There were also freeze-dried strawberries inside, which added a delightful sweetness. Ube Cold Brew Matcha lovers, listen up! This one is for you! It is not too overly sweet and has crumbles of freeze-dried strawberries on top of the pile of whipped cream. If you’re not the biggest matcha lover, you might want to pass this to the matcha fans in the group. Matcha Cold Brew We can’t believe we got three cups of cold brew for $8.79! It’s a great deal and would be easy to share. We’re looking forward to ordering a full cup of the ube cold brew when we come back next time. Cold Brew Flight Even after all of those snacks, we needed to round off our day with dinner. At Satu’li Canteen, we got the Combination Bowl: Chimichurri Beef and Chili-Garlic Shrimp for $18.79. Our bowl This bowl is packed with chimichurri beef paired with shrimp tossed in a chili-garlic sauce with crunchy vegetable salad and boba balls on top. You get to choose your base, and we picked noodles with black beans. Delicious! We love the size of the bowl, and all of the elements were cooked perfectly. The black beans were covered in a sauce that added some spice, and while it wasn’t overwhelming, it was definitely present. The boba balls fought against the spice by being filled with sweet! Some bites were spicy and others were sweet from the boba, so be ready for a bit of differences between each bite. Animal Kingdom, they could never make us hate you. We loved all the snacks we tried and know that there are always more to discover at the next location. While we’re setting out to try them all, make sure you’re following Disney Food Blog for more! 3. Gawrsh, there’s a lot of stimulation going on at GoofyCore, the new limited-time activities area at Epcot that’s part of the Cool Kid Summer push at Walt Disney World. GoofyCore is heavy on sights and sounds but light on smells, thankfully, inside CommuniCore Hall, the theme park’s multi-use space that prompts the event’s, well, kinda goofy name. The activity starts on ground level with carpeting that doubles as a dance floor and the curvy track of a gigantic game board. Think Candy Land but more neon. In the center of the room is a brightly colored DJ booth – aka Goofy’s Game Machine – made to look like it’s melting. Giant game cards dangle from the ceiling with characters on one side and instructions (“Oh, boy! Take two turns,” “Strike a pose, collect three bows!”). But on the Disney scale, the theming is pretty subtle. But something about this space makes kids literally run around in circles. And that’s fine. Burn off that energy. The parents have grown-up furniture on the sides and take deep breaths while watching the circular movements of those kiddos. The young ones have pretty free rein in here until they try to climb up onto the DJ ledge. That’s when kindly cast members swoop into action. There's sometimes room to roam at GoofyCore (normally known as CommuniCore Hall), and the themed carpet may energize young Disney World visitors. (Dewayne Bevil/Orlando Sentinel)“We are going to dance to every kind of music there is,” the DJ warns, and he spins a wide range of tunes beginning with Jonas Brothers (“Live to Party”) and traveling through the decades to drop in on Chubby Checker doing “The Twist,” Styx and “Mr. Roboto.” The DJ called out for ballet moves leading to “Once Upon a Dream” moments – the DJ did a jete – and that was followed by really young boy banders dancing to “Bye, Bye, Bye.” But wait, there were also salsa, hip-hop, disco, supermodel struts and high-kick routines. A twentysomething woman broke out a core choreography memory for “We’re All in This Together” from “High School Musical.” There were also games involving hula hoops and a round of Red Light! Green Light! All this happened before the arrival of in-the-flesh/plush Goofy, which raised the intensity of the youngest folks. He’s a rock star in this crowd. But the beat goes on, which includes interaction with the character without having to stand in line. It’s the latest incarnation of CommuniCore Hall, which previously has been staged as a museum exhibit, gift shop and festival food kiosk (There’s no food inside in the current version, but there’s a small menu outside that includes Oreo ravioli). I’ve seen a rainy day version of the park’s “Celebracion Encanto” show in there, too. Another selling point of GoofyCore: Glorious air-conditioning. Goofy must have drawn the long straw and other Cool Kid Summer dance parties are sweating it out at Magic Kingdom and Disney’s Hollywood Studios. Along with dance parties, Disney World is packaging Cool Kid Summer with some discounted park tickets for kids, character interactions and hotel deals into September. For more information, go to disneyworld.com. Sky and sea Also new this summer is a drone show that leads into the “Ignite” fireworks show at SeaWorld Orlando. What visitors see: Drones forming sealife in the sky. That includes floating jellyfish, an electric eel, an enormous tortoise and rays swimming away. Each of these images has some animation to it, adding to the underwater illusion. It’s not drawn out though; of the 12-minute “Ignite” experience, drones are seen for about 5 minutes. And if you’re seated in Bayside Stadium, the scaffolding for Club Sea Glow on the stage can interfere with the air show. “Ignite” continues to be a big presence, from fountains on the park’s central lake, augmented by fiery effects, lights, music and bursting fireworks all near the park’s signature Sky Tower. The show is not nightly, just on select evenings during the park’s Summer Spectacular nights, which runs through Sept. 1. Check seaworldorlando.com for showtimes and dates. News and notes ‱ As MuppetVision 3D was closing at Disney’s Hollywood Studios, the company gave an update on the Muppet front via a video featuring Kermit the Frog. The character said the new version of the park’s Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster – featuring Muppets, not Aerosmith – will open in 2026. A closing date for the current version of the attraction has not been released. ‱ There’s change coming down the tracks for Walt Disney World Railroad. As of July 7, the train will only run between the station at the front of Magic Kingdom and the one at Fantasyland. And word on Main Street is that the engines will run backward in one direction. The shutdown is due to construction in and around Frontierland for the park expansion with “Cars” attractions and a villains-themed land. Sea Life Florida Aquarium visitors check out the hotel theming of part of the attraction, which is now open at Legoland Florida Resort in Winter Haven. (Merlin Entertainments)‱ Sea Life Florida Aquarium has opened at Legoland Florida Resort in Winter Haven. Inside: more than 3,000 creatures representing 150 species as well as a 180-degree tunnel designed with a “theme park under the sea” motif. Email me at dbevil@orlandosentinel.com. 4. When you think of Disney World hotels, you probably picture themed rooms, amazing pools, and easy transportation to the parks—and you’re not wrong. Disney’s Yacht Club Resort Whether you’re staying at a Value, Moderate, or Deluxe Resort, Disney hotels are packed with little perks and hidden gems that go way beyond just being a place to rest your tired legs after a long day at the parks. From Movies Under the Stars to fun-filled pool parties and surprise character sightings, there’s always something extra to do. But what if we told you that you are missing out on extending your vacation for just $25? The Disney blues are about to set in. You’ve packed up, checked out of your Disney hotel room, and now you’ve got a few hours to kill before your bus to the airport arrives. What now? Here’s a little secret: Disney hotel arcades are the perfect spot to hang out, stay cool, and squeeze in just a little more fun before you officially say goodbye to the Most Magical Place on Earth. Nearly every Disney World resort hotel has one, and they’re filled with everything from Disney-themed pinball machines to racing games to photo booths where you can grab one last magical souvenir. Pop Century Arcade To play, you’ll need to grab an arcade card, which can be found at a machine right inside the arcade. You can load it up with play points and use it like a game pass. The pricing is actually pretty decent: $1 gets you 50 play points, $5 gets you 275 points, and $25 gets you 2000 points. The more you load, the better the deal. Most of the games cost anywhere from 20 to 100 points per play, depending on what kind of game it is. If you’re doing the math, a $5 card will get you at least a few solid rounds at different games—and probably keep your kids busy long enough to avoid the dreaded “I’m bored” complaint. Pricing for Arcade Cards You’ll find everything from classic games like air hockey to more modern stuff like interactive racing games and, yes, themed pinball machines. Some of the arcades even have digital photo booths that you can use your play points for, so why not squeeze in for one more silly group shot to remember your vacation? So many game options This is one of our go-to tips for checkout day. It’s easy, it’s fun, it doesn’t involve standing in the sun with all your bags, and it lets you stretch the magic just a little bit longer. Pro tip: if you have play points left over, the arcade cards are reusable—so hang on to them for your next trip! Port Orleans — French Quarter Arcade We hope you keep this in mind on your next Disney World vacation to make the most of your time on checkout day. 5. It’s time for a NEW Happy Meal, folks, this is not a drill! McDonald’s Happy Meal We’re constantly on the lookout for McDonald’s news, and one of the most popular topics is when the fast food brand releases a new Happy Meal option. And when that Happy Meal is themed to a Pixar movie? That’s the intersection of some of our favorite things! The new Happy Meal toys are inspired by Pixar’s latest film, Elio! The movie follows an outcast boy named Elio who gets accidentally beamed up to a council of aliens and mistaken for the representative from planet Earth. So naturally, some of these toys are pretty alien-looking! ©McDonald’s There are eight different toy options based on characters from the film. Each toy comes with a little character, a blue dish that they sit in, and a “launch” tool. What does that mean? You attach the launch tool to the disk, then squeeze, and the characters will slide across a flat surface! ©McDonald’s These toys are available (or coming soon!) to McDonald’s locations across the United States. Elio releases in theaters on June 20th, so make your plans to grab a Happy Meal and then go see the film! ©McDonald’s We’ll make sure to keep you in the loop with all the movie news. If you’re heading to Disney World anytime soon, there’s a temporary Elio experience in Tomorrowland where you can make your own postcard to space and try out a themed float. 7. Epic Universe is coming in hot, but not everything you’ve heard is just hype. Epic Universe We’ve been keeping our ears to the ground (and boots on it, too), and while some rumors are just wild internet talk, a few of them? They’re actually legit. Whether it’s about ride wait times, kid-friendliness, or unexpected sleeper hits, we’ve seen it firsthand — and we’ve got thoughts. So let’s break down the five rumors that turned out to be TRUE (or at least, mostly true). There’s No Shade OK, this one is
kinda true. This rumor was one of the first things we heard floating around about Epic Universe and unfortunately
yeah, we kinda see where it’s coming from. Epic Universe Is it totally devoid of shade? No. There are spots you can duck into when you need a break from the sun, and you’ll find covered seating areas and some indoor relief here and there — especially near restaurants and gift shops. But in terms of general walkways, queues, and just moving around the park, well, get ready for a lot of time in direct sunlight. Frosty Moon We’re talking long stretches between lands where you’re fully exposed. Some of the lands do try to use themed shade structures (like trees or overhangs that blend into the environment), but it’s not always 100% effective. The bottom line is, if you’re going on a hot, sunny day, plan like you’re headed into a desert. Sunscreen, a hat, and a personal fan aren’t just nice to have — they’re survival gear. Some of the Kids’ Rides Are Total Sleeper Hits Okay, confession time. When I saw the names “Mine Cart Madness” and “Hiccup’s Winged Gliders,” I fully assumed these were filler attractions. The kind you breeze past unless you’re wrangling a preschooler. But after riding them? It turns out, we were wrong. Like, really wrong. Mine-Cart Madness These rides are straight-up fun, even for adults. Mine Cart Madness, for example, has a surprising amount of thrill and clever theming. It’s not just a kiddie coaster — it’s a full-on whimsical adventure that nails that perfect middle ground between family-friendly and actually entertaining. Mine-Cart Madness And Hiccup’s Winged Gliders? Don’t let the cutesy name fool you. There’s a smooth glide, great views of the park, and just enough excitement to keep everyone smiling. These rides ended up being some of our favorite surprises of the day — and the best part? You can ride with your kids. So instead of standing on the sidelines, you’re right there in the action with them. Hiccup’s Wing Gliders If you’re headed to Epic Universe with family, don’t skip these thinking they’re throwaways. They might just end up being the rides you talk about all the way home. There’s Not Much for Babies or Really Little Kids Unfortunately, this one is just
true. If you’ve got a baby or toddler who isn’t ready for rides yet, Epic Universe doesn’t give you a ton to work with. There are two stage shows and a carousel — and that’s it. The shows are cute, but unless your little one is super chill (or loves sitting still for 20 minutes), they might not even enjoy those. Everything else is pretty ride-focused and geared toward older kids or adults. Definitely something to keep in mind if you’re planning a family trip with really young kiddos. Constellation Carousel As with any new theme park, things are going to keep evolving at Epic Universe now that it is officially opened and the crowds start settling into patterns. If you’re planning your visit now, these are the things we’ve seen with our own eyes and tested out ourselves. A little planning (and realistic expectations) go a long way — and knowing what’s actually true can help you enjoy the park a lot more. Stay tuned to DFB for more on Epic Universe! 11. ATTENTION ALDI SHOPPERS: A product recently sold at the popular market chain has been recalled by the Food & Drug Administration (FDA). ALDI! Back in April, ALDI offered Casa Mamita Churro Bites, mini churros filled with chocolate hazelnut cream. However, according to the FDA, the product has been recalled because it may contain undeclared milk. While the agency reports that NO illnesses have been reported, the presence of undeclared milk means that those “who have an allergy or severe sensitivity to milk run the risk of serious or life-threatening allergic reaction if they consume these products.” ©FDA According to the FDA, the recall was initiated “after a consumer discovered that the milk-containing product was distributed in packaging that did not reveal the presence of milk. Subsequent investigation indicates the problem was caused by a temporary breakdown in the company’s production and packaging processes that has subsequently been corrected.” The recalled boxes, which carried a BEST IF USED BY DATE of JUL/14/2025 and Lot Number 01425, were sold in ALDI locations in the following states: AL, AR, FL, GA, IA, IL, KY, LA, MO, MS, NC, SC, and TN. The original product listing ©ALDI The FDA recommends that those who purchased the 7.05 oz boxes of Casa Mamita Churro Bites Filled with Chocolate Hazelnut Cream return the item to the place of purchase for a full refund as soon as possible. 12. This is not the news we thought we’d be sharing with you today! Come on in! A forgotten attraction in Magic Kingdom just reopened — well, part of it reopened. The lobby for The Hall of Presidents attraction in Liberty Square is now open! The lobby You can walk around to view the artifacts while enjoying that sweet air conditioning. Inside What’s odd is that the Hall of Presidents currently has no reopening date. It closed in January 2025, and Disney has not provided any updates, details, or further information about what is happening inside. It’s common for the show to close around each presidential election to switch animatronics, but the lack of information has us questioning what’s happening inside. Hall of Presidents (2016) Many have speculated that the attraction would permanently close, but Disney has not released any information to confirm or deny this. Artifacts The lobby is the queue for the attraction, and by opening it up to the public, it has us questioning whether the show is coming back or if Disney just wanted to add another cool-down spot to Magic Kingdom. We certainly won’t say no to hanging out in the air conditioning! 16. Recently, Disney has announced new lands, attractions, and entertainment headed to the theme parks, new ships coming to the Disney Cruise Line, and so much more. Magic Kingdom Keeping up with the latest construction permits Disney World files can be a great way to find out just what is going on around the parks and hotels, and we recently spotted some you might want to know about! It’s certainly no secret that a ton of changes are in store for Disney World, and we can’t wait for what’s to come. Several new Notice of Commencement permits have been filed by Disney lately, giving us a clue into how some projects are going — and what else we can expect to see going forward. Let’s check them out! Tomorrowland! Changes are coming to Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin at Magic Kingdom! Disney has announced that a new show scene, updated ride vehicles, and gameplay enhancements will be coming to this ride sometime in 2026. And, we just spotted a new permit for this update. An “electrical work” permit lists Elite A/V System Inc. as the contractor. ©Disney As part of the new adventure, an all-new character — a friendly robot named “Buddy” — will make sure you’re prepared for your mission. This will also be a great time for you to see some of the new, interactive target features before blasting off. The attraction is set to close sometime in August, though we don’t have an exact date from Disney yet. ©Disney We spotted quite a few permits for different guest buildings at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort as well! This hotel is undergoing refurbishment in some areas, including the reconfiguration of the front entrance roadway and bus area. The permits we spotted were listed as “general construction,” and Disney advised that some views of Magic Kingdom and other surrounding areas might be impacted. Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort You may have heard that some huge changes are coming to Magic Kingdom’s Frontierland, and you’d be right! Not only is a brand-new Cars-themed area coming to the park, but so is a massive Villains Land expansion. Of course, these changes are going to take some time, but we do know that parts of this land are set to close for renovations on July 7th. Construction crane working behind Big Thunder Mountain That’s why it’s really no surprise that multiple permits have recently been filed in this area. Disney has filed permits for Tiana’s Bayou Adventure, Golden Oak Outpost, and a pumping station behind Tiana’s Bayou Adventure. It’s unclear whether these permits have anything to do with the Frontierland changes or if these are just general maintenance permits, but we’ll keep an eye out for changes in the park either way. Big Thunder Mountain Railroad We’ll be on the lookout for more permit updates you need to know about from Disney World. 17. When it comes to dining at Disney World, you’ve got a TON of options. Want something quick and easy? You’ve got it. Something middle of the road and comforting? Yep, that too. And if you’re looking for something upscale and luxurious, you can find that as well. Disney Springs We recently stopped by Erin McKenna’s Bakery NYC at Disney Springs to see what was cookin’, and now we’re bringing you our FULL review. Is it worth a stop on your next trip to the Most Magical Place on Earth? Find out here! Atmosphere Erin McKenna’s Bakery NYC specializes in allergy-friendly, vegan baked goods. Erin McKenna is the founder of BabyCakes NYC, and this Disney Springs location is home to both sweet and savory options. Erin McKenna’s Bakery NYC According to the website, Erin McKenna’s focuses on food for those with “gluten, dairy, egg and soy sensitivities” and their menu advises that everything is also kosher. Since this is a bakery, you won’t find much seating here, but you’ll find plenty of tasty treats to go! LOTS of goodies! But enough about the restaurant — what’s on the menu here?! Menu This menu is FULL of gluten-free, vegan, and allergy-friendly treats and sweets. You’ll find cupcakes, crumb cakes, regular cakes, cookies, donuts, and even some savory items like bagels and cream cheese. Erin McKenna’s menu And now, onto the main event — the food! Eats We grabbed a few different goodies on our visit here, starting with the Pizza Cookie. This is a giant chocolate chip cookie “crust” topped with vibrant red frosting “sauce” and colorful candy “toppings” that look just like pepperoni, olives, and cheese. This is part of a line, at Erin McKenna’s, being offered this summer, where all of the bakery items look like savory foods — and they are all very cute. Pizza Cookie There’s a lot of frosting on this cookie, and because of that, it is very, very sweet. One thing we’ve noticed about dairy (and thus, butter) free baked goods is that they tend to be overly sweet, and that was the case here. The cookie itself was good, but it was not super crispy, likely because of all the frosting on top. Pizza Cookie Of course, we also had to grab the Taco Cookie. Despite the name, there are no tacos here! A folded chocolate chip cookie “shell” is filled with rich chocolate frosting “meat,” yellow frosting “cheese,” green candy “lettuce”, and red candy “tomatoes.” It was filled with brownie, which we’re certainly not mad about, and the brownie inside also had a really good texture. It was chocolatey; the cookie was chocolatey — but it was not super crispy because it had been sitting with all those toppings on it. HOWEVER, it was remarkably tasty. Taco Cookie This is really, really, really sweet, which is something that often happens with gluten- and dairy-free baked goods, so there was some chocolate flavor here from the brownie and the chocolate frosting on the bottom, but otherwise this is just a whole lot of sweet. We definitely could not eat this in one sitting, so it may be something you want to split with someone else, or you may want to have a few bites and then take it back to your room. Taco Cookie The Cupcake Slider was our next pick, which looks like an adorable little burger slider. It features fluffy vanilla cupcake “buns” layered with colorful frosting that perfectly mimics burger toppings – green “lettuce,” yellow “cheese,” chocolate “patty”, and red “tomato.” Cupcake Slider We love this as people who frequently turn our regular cupcakes into cupcake sandwiches, because that’s exactly what it is. It’s a cupcake that has been halved with the frosting in the middle, but it is all made to look like a little cheeseburger. So, it’s all buttercream again. There’s no candy or anything in there, but there are buttercream sesame seeds on the top, and then there’s a buttercream patty and cheese and lettuce, and tomato. This definitely gets points for being cute! The cake is more dense than we would typically appreciate, but, texturally, it’s a good version for something that is both vegan and gluten-free. Cupcake Slider We love this take on Dessert Fries — golden vanilla cake sticks dusted with cinnamon sugar served with sweet berry dipping sauce for “ketchup.” This is cute. It is the same cake as the cupcake slider, but it is rolled in that delicious cinnamon sugar. We enjoyed this one quite a bit because texturally, everything else felt kind of dry and crumbly, and here you’ve got the dip of the strawberry jam to help make things moister. We loved that this was a large portion size, and the sweet berry dipping sauce was tangy and sweet! Sweet Fries with Ketchup The Dessert Faux Dogs are vanilla cake “buns” filled with rich buttercream frosting, “hot dogs,” and topped with colorful yellow and red frosting that looks just like mustard and ketchup. This is a cake made to look like a hot dog bun with frosting inside that mimics a hot dog and then frosting toppings on top. So again, a lot of frosting with just some cake. Luckily, the cake is tasty, and it’s texturally firmer than we typically enjoy for a cake — almost like a pound cake, which in this case is a good thing as it mimics a hot dog bun and holds all of the frosting toppings. This is, again, really cute, a novelty item, and if you’re interested in that kind of novelty item, then this is worth it. If you are not a vegan or gluten-free eater, there are definitely better treats to be had around Disney Springs. Faux Dog Next up, we tried the Twinkie Dog — a Corn Dog on a Stick! A golden-battered “corn dog” is filled with signature vanilla cake cream, and of course, put on a stick. This is essentially a Twinkie on a stick designed to look like a corn dog — which is another fun idea. Again, though, this is more cake — just in a twinkie shape — filled with buttercream inside. It’s the same cake that is in the hot dog, and the cupcake slider, just denser and less moist. It’s a good version with the dietary restrictions here. There was definitely more cake than butter cream here. So if you want one of these treats and want less frosting, this is the best one to pick. Corn Dog on a Stick You can also pick up a Bakery Sink — it’s like a kitchen sink, but with five to six of yesterday’s unsold baked goods in it. Bakery Sink MAN! That’s a lot of treats. So, what’s the verdict? Nosh or Not This Disney World restaurant is a must-visit if
You follow a special diet (whether it’s vegan, gluten-free, kosher, or allergy-friendly) and are looking for some sweet treats you can eat! You’re interested in fun, creative, and tasty desserts. You’re looking for a special treat for someone who is vegan or gluten-free. You should skip this Disney World spot if
You don’t care about eating gluten-free or vegan when it comes to desserts. You’re looking for a seriously fantastic baked good you’ll be screaming about from the rooftops. You don’t like frosting or overly sweet desserts. Overall Erin McKenna’s Bakery NYC is a must-visit for gluten-free and vegan folks in Disney World — it might even be worth a special stop to Disney Springs if you aren’t already planning a visit there! Even if you don’t follow a special diet, Erin McKenna’s is still baking up some seriously tasty treats. 18. We try Disney snacks for a living, and sometimes we find one that we just KNOW is going to be a hit. Sometimes those snacks are in unsuspecting locations like a small food stand! Walt Disney World While trekking through Magic Kingdom, we came across a brand-new snack that we’re obsessed with (and yes, we already are planning on getting it again). Meet the Mickey-shaped Bacon-Pecan Caramel Cinnamon Roll for $8.49 at Westward Ho, a snack stand in Frontierland. OBSESSED OMG. This is our new ultimate breakfast at Magic Kingdom. The cinnamon roll is so large, making it perfect to share, especially considering the price. This has to be the freshest cinnamon roll we’ve ever had at Disney World (and hey, we eat a lot of cinnamon rolls). Westward Ho There was so much filling that it was crumbling onto our fork, and it was delicious. Combined with the softness of the dough, we were in heaven. Look at those layers What really makes this dish so incredible is the toppings. It was practically swimming in caramel sauce, and we appreciate Disney not skimping out on the sauce. Swimming in sauce The candied bacon and pecans on top added everything we needed. The bacon gave it a chew, and we could tell these were thicker cuts of bacon, which gave a meaty flavor and texture. The pecans added a great crunch, and once you get a bite with everything, you’ll be looking back to see if you should grab a second. Lots of toppings We can’t believe we’re saying this, but this might be better than the cinnamon roll at Gaston’s Tavern, which is a breakfast treat we get time and time again. It’s hard to deny the freshness of the Westward Ho cinnamon roll, along with the size. But we do still really like Gaston’s! Breakfast is served at Westward Ho from 9:30 AM to 11 AM, so make sure you head over there in the morning before they stop selling it in the afternoon. The menu We’re going to be dreaming about this for a while, but in the meantime, make sure you’re following Disney Food Blog for the best snack reviews so you know what to eat during your next Disney World trip. 19. SeaWorld Orlando visitors can come face-to-face with emperor penguins later this week, the theme park confirms. The birds, native to Antarctica, will become available to the public Saturday, although SeaWorld’s annual passholders will have early access Thursday and Friday. The 16 emperor penguins were transported to Florida from SeaWorld San Diego, making Orlando the only place in the Western Hemisphere that folks can check them out. SeaWorld Orlando renovated its Antarctica realm to meet environmental needs of the species, including reducing temperatures to around 28 degrees and mimicking Antarctic light cycles to reflect their natural rhythms. “This is an incredibly rare and exciting opportunity for guests to encounter one of nature’s most extraordinary species,” Jon Peterson, park president of SeaWorld Orlando, said in a news release. “We’re proud to continue SeaWorld’s legacy of penguin care and conservation, while giving our guests a rare chance to connect with these animals in remarkable ways,” he said. Emperors penguins are the largest of the world’s penguin species, growing as tall as 44 inches and weighing between 60 and 90 pounds. They live 20 to 25 years in the wild. The SeaWorld family has a long connection with emperors. The San Diego attraction started breeding the birds in the early 1980s, the first outside of Artarctica to have success. It hatched and raised more than 20 of the species, including one two years ago. The SeaWorld parks currently are homes to emperor, king, Adelie, gentoo, chinstrap, rockhopper, macaroni, Magellanic and Humboldt penguin species. The latest Orlando additions also are tied with the inflatable penguin promotion in downtown Orlando. The faux birds can be spotted atop three buildings along Orange Avenue. “Big City Penguins,” presented in partnership with Creative City Project, will remain in place through June 19. 20. When you’re in Disneyland, there are tons of different dining locations to choose from, but you want to make sure you’re choosing one that you’ll be happy with. Disneyland Entrance and Train Station We’ve tried all the restaurants around Disneyland Resort to help you decide what’s the best fit for your vacation. If you’re hoping to book an Advance Dining Reservation for your trip, we’re here to help you decide what reservation is the right fit for you so you’re not disappointed in your choice and know what to expect going in. If you’re heading to Disneyland soon and are thinking of checking our Carnation Cafe, we’ve got our full, honest review for you! Atmosphere Carnation Cafe is located on Main Street U.S.A. and is known for its striped umbrellas outside! This old-fashioned piece of Americana is reminiscent of the older times, but offers modern versions of cafe classic dishes. Carnation Cafe Seating is available both inside and outside, and you’ll even find some classic old photographs in there, right up against the wallpaper that will remind you of your grandparents’ house and/or the house you grew up in. We love this artwork! The seating inside is pretty close together, so it’s not a very large space, so if you’re not wanting to sit close to other families and want some more room, you may want to request sitting outside in your dining reservation. Seating inside Outside, the red and white striped umbrellas offer shade outside, so even if you’re seated outside, you won’t be directly in the sun’s rays. Seating outside But enough about the restaurant — what’s on the menu here?! Menu Breakfast classics are served alongside fan favorites like Mickey Waffles and comfort menu options like Country-fried Steak and Eggs. Menu For lunch and dinner, you can enjoy options like meatloaf and Walt’s Chili, in honor of Walt Disney’s favorite dish. Back of menu Malts, shakes, and sundaes are also offered for dessert, and alcoholic beverages are available as well. But how does it all taste? We’re about to find out! Eats For our starter, we grabbed Walt’s Chili for $12. This is Hearty Chili topped with Cheese, Sour Cream, Chives and Cornbread Crisps, and it’s hard to skip a classic like this! Walt’s Chili This has a little bit of kick to it, so keep that in mind if you’re spice adverse. We couldn’t reall ytaste the corn bread crisps and the chili soaked them, which took away the crisp — we think Fritos would’ve been the better option! This didn’t ruin the dish or anything though, thankfully, so if you like a meaty dish and don’t mind a bit spice or want to get one of Walt’s favorites, we’d highly recommend this. It’s got a kick! One of our two entrees was the Guacamole Burger for $22. This is an Angus Chuck Patty, Monterey Jack, House-made Guacamole, Grilled Onion, and Lettuce on a Brioche Bun. It’s also served with your choice of fries or seasonal fruit, and we chose the fries. Guacamole Burger This was a little messy, but REALLY good! The guacamole soaks the top bun and the lettuce got the bottom one, so if you’re texture sensitive, that’s something to be aware of. The burger was cooked to a perfect medium, and it has a peppery seasoning that adds a little kick to it. The grilled onions had a nice and sweet flavor that complimented everything else, but the fries might’ve been our favorite part! They were nice and crispy with what tasted like a light Cajun seasoning on them, so overall, we were impressed. Yum! Our other entree was the Chicken Fried Chicken for $22, which is Herbed Mashed Potatoes, Seasonal Vegetables and Country Gravy. The country gravy added a savory, almost bacon-like flavor to the fried chicken, and the chicken’s skin had that gravy flavor mixed with herby and buttermilk flavors. The chicken itself was tender, but most of the flavor came from the skin. Chicken Fried Chicken While this tasted good, our only complaint is the fried skin was a pretty thick layer compared to how much meat there was. The potatoes had hints of herb and vegetable flavors mixed in, and the seasonal vegetables at the time of dining were peppered green beans. They weren’t too chewy and had a light spice, so it’s flavor central over here. Again, we were impressed, but we do wish there was a better balance of chicken to the fried skin. We would have loved some more chicken! For dessert, we snagged the Peach Pie à la Mode, which is Warm Peach Pie served with Vanilla Ice Cream for $10. Peach Pie à la Mode We ADORED how sweet and fresh this was! All of the ingredients went perfectly together — the vanilla ice cream was fresh, rich, and creamy, and the peaches tasted fresh, no artificial flavoring at all. The pie crust was sweet and buttery with a flaky texture. We couldn’t love it more — 5/5 stars from us. Nosh or Not This Disneyland restaurant is a must-visit if

  21. RED ALERT! Something major just happened at EPCOT, and if you weren’t excited for the summer before, you’re going to be now. Test Track construction Test Track is opening late this summer, and this is a huge step forward. The construction walls around Test Track are now GONE. We repeat – the walls are down! The walls were replaced with bushes, but that means Disney can easily move them when they’re ready! Bushes instead of walls! EPCOT is no stranger to walls, and we had a few months of wall-free EPCOT before Test Track went under construction and the walls came back. The walls are gone, and we couldn’t be happier. Hey, Test Track sign! New signage for Test Track was released last week, and now you can see it in front of the attraction. We still don’t have news on a reopening date beyond late summer 2025, but when the walls come down, we know we’re getting closer to hopping in and taking a ride. Let us in, please! Disney has dropped a few details on the changes coming to the attraction, but hasn’t released too much information. 24. Okay, I absolutely love Disney character dining experiences, and I try to book at least one character breakfast during EVERY SINGLE TRIP. Plaza Inn in Disneyland It doesn’t matter if I’m in Disney World or Disneyland, I’m probably eating breakfast with characters at some point during the trip. Now, I usually book a breakfast for my last day, and when I’m in Disneyland, I usually just book the breakfast at Storytellers Cafe at Disney’s Grand Californian Resort. However, during a recent trip, I decided to buck the trend and chose to do a breakfast INSIDE Disneyland at Plaza Inn — and y’all, that was the best Disney character dining experience I’ve ever had. So this breakfast is Minnie & Friends themed, so you’re guaranteed to meet Minnie, but the other characters are pretty much a surprise. As I understand it, you never quite know what characters are going to show up. So before you are seated, you get to meet Minnie Mouse first. Minnie took time to interact with everyone in our group of five before we took a photo. I’ll admit that I got a little teary-eyed (also, I was Disneybounding Minnie that day!). Already, this is a good start to our day. Minnie at Plaza Inn If you’ve never been to Disneyland, let me tell you that the characters just go a little extra harder in Disneyland than anywhere else (I have a theory that it’s because most of them are probably pursuing acting careers with Disneyland being so close to L.A.). They really spend time with you and they do everything to make interactions memorable, no matter your age. So after we met Minnie, we stepped inside this GORGEOUS Victorian-themed restaurant, and saw a buffet of food laid out for us and characters EVERYWHERE mingling with guests. Now, I’ve been to some character dining experiences where you might see one or two characters at a time, but we saw four or five of them at any given time walking around. Plaza Inn Buffet We barely had a chance to sit down before some characters came up to our table and we got our first of many interactions. Like I said, these characters can be random, so we were surprised to see some rare characters like Perla and Suzy, two of the mice from Cinderella. We also saw Pooh, Tigger, Chip, Dale, Pluto, and Daisy Duck. And they came to our table multiple times. Perla But let’s talk about those interactions. Again, I’ve been to some character experiences where you might see each character once and the interactions are sometimes short and sweet (and that’s fine). But we saw many of these characters multiple times and they spent a lot of time with us, although we were a table of adults. They were also working the room when given the chance: at one point, the entire room was chanting “Tigger! Tigger!” while Tigger bounced around the buffet. Tigger was QUITE the character The food was pretty standard for a Disney breakfast buffet. You’ve got your usual options like eggs, bacon, sausage, pastries, French toast, and some of the best breakfast potatoes I’ve ever had in my life (I went back for seconds). However, instead of Mickey waffles, you get Minnie waffles, and that was such a cute touch. FOOD So how much did this experience cost? Well, if you’ve been to a character dining experience in Disney World or Disneyland, they’re generally not cheap. This is one of the CHEAPEST, though, and is just $50 per adult and $30 per child. Considering how many characters you see and the quality of the interactions, I’d say it’s worth every penny. Dale What was even more fun is we were with someone who had never done a character breakfast before, and I have to say that Plaza Inn set the bar pretty high for her. Overall, this is the best character dining experience I’ve ever had, and I can’t wait to book it again. Stay tuned to DFB for more. 5 Unspoken Rules for Character Dining in Disney World DON'T DO IT ALONE!
