  1. Today, we’re excited to share a peek behind the curtain at some of our long-term plans to expand and grow here at Disneyland Resort! All-New Parking Structure and Transportation Hub Coming to Resort Area Plans are underway for a new parking structure and transportation hub that will be built on the east side of Disneyland Resort, on a portion of what is currently the Manchester cast member parking lot. This new area will provide approximately 6,000 parking spaces, shuttle and rideshare areas, security screening and dedicated access for traffic off of Disney Way, improving parking and traffic flow throughout the resort area. As you can see from the artist concept rendering above, this new parking and transportation hub will also feature a pedestrian bridge over Harbor Boulevard, leading to an all-new esplanade arrival experience. This pedestrian bridge will also provide convenient public access to and from Harbor Boulevard. These enhanced parking, transit, and arrival offerings are the first step in our next phase of construction, creating the infrastructure necessary to prepare for future growth and to welcome more guests as new experiences are added – including two all-new attractions that will double the size of Avengers Campus, plus the new “Coco”-themed ride and Avatar destination coming to Disney California Adventure park. The multi-year construction of this new arrival experience is slated to begin in fall of 2026. Updates on the Location for the “Coco” Attraction As we continue to add new experiences to Disney California Adventure, we’re excited to share that the upcoming attraction themed to Pixar Animation Studios’ “Coco” will be built near Paradise Gardens Park and Pixar Pier, in areas that are predominantly backstage today. Construction on this attraction is set to begin backstage this fall! Avatar Experience Location Details Additionally, we’re looking forward to transforming a portion of the current Hollywood Backlot area into our Avatar destination in Disney California Adventure. This project is still in the early stages of development, and additional details will be shared later, including construction timeframes. To make way for this new experience, Monsters, Inc. Mike & Sulley to the Rescue! will close in early 2026. This is just the beginning of exciting growth here at Disneyland Resort, and we look forward to sharing more about all of these projects in the future. As always, stay tuned to the Disney Parks Blog for the latest Disneyland news! The post Future Expansion Plans for Disneyland Resort appeared first on Disney Parks Blog. View the full article
  2. Who’s ready to party in our favorite tiny town?! Welcome back to tiny train town! The Tiny Train Town in EPCOT’s Germany Pavilion is well known around here for its mischief-making residents, and we love checking in on them to see how things are going. What’s happening there this week? Let’s go see! For our first excursion of the day, we’re heading to a local farm where a crime was committed a few weeks ago. If you recall, we were investigating a series of livestock murders which originated here, with some unlucky cows. Today, we were grateful to see that the farmers who’d been affected have since added to their herd, and everyone seems to be in good health. We’ve since locked up the criminal responsible for the dastardly deed. A happy ending! Back to the scene of the crime Late last year, teenagers and young adults in the town began meeting at the various train stations around to socialize and try and find dates. This unofficial “singles club” is now seeing fewer and fewer participants as so many people have now paired off. I have it on good authority that our few small churches are currently booked out with weddings for fall 2025 — how exciting! Anyone know a wedding planner? Sounds like we’re going to need one! Alongside the rails However, it’s not all good news this week. A while back, some of our town’s residents had been hiking into the mountainous region of the village to escape the werewolf attacks that were common in the summertime. We’ve since gotten that problem under control, but after several months, one of the shepherds has DISAPPEARED in the wilderness. If you hear word of a wandering man separated from his herd, please contact the village police! Where is their other shepherd? Last but not least, our local real estate agent has asked me to share a rare listing for the village! A small cottage up near the woods in the hill country has recently gone up for sale, and we would love to have some new residents. The views are spectacular, and of course, this comes with the added benefit of literally living INSIDE Disney World. Terms and conditions apply.** Hmmm… Thanks for coming along with me on this visit! Can’t wait to see you next time in the Tiny Train Town. Check out the video below to see more must-dos in EPCOT. Stay tuned to DFB for more news and fun in the parks! The anarchy within is mostly created by natural occurrences, like giant squirrels, wind, rain, and relatively godzilla-sized lizards who frequent the town; but we find it fun and entertaining to make up fictional stories about what COULD be happening. We are grateful to the folks who create and maintain this Tiny Train Town for Disney World, as it’s one of our favorite parts of EPCOT and always has been. **Note: Residents of Tiny Train Town must be willing to subject themselves to the experiments of scientist Wayne Szalinski, otherwise, you will not actually be small enough to live inside your new home. 3. When it comes to dining at Disney World, you’ve got a TON of options. Want something quick and easy? You’ve got it. Something middle of the road and comforting? Yep, that too. And if you’re looking for something upscale and luxurious, you can find that as well. Welcome to Disney World We recently stopped by B.B. Wolf’s Sausage Co. at Disney Springs to see what was cookin’, and now we’re bringing you our review. Is it worth a stop on your next trip to the Most Magical Place on Earth? Find out here! Has science gone too far with this latest hot dog creation at B.B. Wolf’s Sausage Co.? Impossible, if you ask us. We stopped by to try the Bacon Mac & Cheese Dog, which you can pick up now for $12.99. This bad boy is made with an all-beef quarter-pound hot dog, mac & cheese, crispy bacon, BBQ sauce, corn chips, and a house-made bun. Bacon Mac & Cheese Dog OK, the perfect hot dog does exist, and it’s here at Disney Springs. This Bacon Mac & Cheese Dog was literally everything we thought it would be and then some. It’s made with mac and cheese, which is creamy but not overly cheesy to where it’s gonna make it gooey and melty. The bun for the hot dog is slightly toasted and buttered on the sides, which we really liked because it had that toasty, buttery taste to it. The hot dog itself is cut in half, which we appreciated because it wasn’t so hard to take a bite, and it allowed for kind of all the condiments sitting on top of it to have a place to sit, versus trailing off the sides. Bacon Mac & Cheese Dog It’s also got some sweet barbecue sauce that does have a little bit more of a tomato paste, ketchup-y kind of consistency to it. It’s just a little thicker whenever it sits, but it’s good and it’s sweet. There are a few green onions on top, plus some chewy bacon bits. They weren’t those hard bacon bits, the imitation kind; these are actual, real bacon, like chewable bites, and they were delicious. This hot dog is delicious, it’s precious, it must be protected at all costs. If you are a Casey’s Corner defender and you cannot get into Magic Kingdom, but you are craving the perfect hot dog, you need to head to B.B. Wolf’s for sure. Bacon Mac & Cheese Dog We’ll be on the lookout for more new snacks you need to know about at Disney World! EPCOT Being a Disney World Annual Passholder is already filled with perks like year-round access to the parks and water parks, discounts on dining and merchandise, and even a few exclusive souvenirs! But just when you thought things couldn’t get any sweeter for these V.I.Passholders, Disney’s just announced a brand new experience that will be exclusive to APs available for a limited time! Disney World is celebrating its Annual Passholders all summer long. Deciding to join this exclusive Disney group is practically a rite of passage for lots of Disney fans, and Disney World is looking to help its APs know they’re appreciated. Disney’s already kicked off the start of V.I.Passholder days, where, for a limited time, Disney World APs are offered bigger discounts on select dining and merchandise, an exclusive lounge, and even ways to get in on the extra savings from home. PhotoPass But, there’s something else coming for the first time for V.I.Passholder days and we’re excited for it! Disney has just announced that a new character meet-and-greet experience will be opening soon for APs. The character will make appearances starting June 9th through July 31st from 10 AM to 6 PM at Der Teddybar in the Germany Pavilion at EPCOT.. They’re also recommending that you arrive early so you have an opportunity to join the queue, because this experience could see a high demand. ©Disney We’re eager to see who shows up to this meet and greet! It is a bit sad to see that it’s exclusive to the summer event for Disney World Annual Passholders to visit, but hopefully they’ll extend it or add another event like this in the future. ©Disney You can bet we’ll be out on its opening day to get a peek at this experience and unlock the mystery of who Disney is referring to as “a beloved Disney pal.” We’re keeping you updated on all the latest Disney news, updates, and more! 6. Hold up — Disney just dropped some MAJOR sneak peeks, and we are not okay. Coming to Frontierland at Magic Kingdom, a new area themed to Pixar Animation Studios’ “Cars” will leave Radiator Springs and head to the wilderness with two new attractions including an off-road race. We’re talking brand new lands, upgraded rides, and a nighttime parade that has our inner 10-year-old screaming. Concept art has been flying out of Disney like pixie dust lately, and we’ve been analyzing every detail (so you don’t have to). Here’s a quick breakdown of the four biggest reveals Disney just shared about what’s coming soon to the parks — and trust us, you’re gonna want to see this. A Cars-themed Land Is Hitting Magic Kingdom Disney announced that the brand-new Cars-themed land coming to Magic Kingdom will be called Piston Peak, and the concept art is packed with juicy details. This isn’t just a Radiator Springs copy-paste — it’s a whole wilderness-themed expansion with two new attractions, a river, and enough nods to the OG Frontierland to keep the theming purists happy. Piston Peak ©Disney The map is full of hidden gems. Like Rainbow Geysers from an old Disneyland concept, a barrel bridge that screams Tom Sawyer Island nostalgia, and even a mountain that looks like a mashup of a sequoia and Disneyland’s petrified tree. Oh, and the water from Tiana’s Bayou Adventure looks like it connects to Piston Peak, which could mean a more seamless transition between lands, which we love to see. ©Disney Also, shoutout to Ranger J. Autobahn Woodlore — a punny tribute to the classic Disney cartoon ranger. That’s the kind of deep cut we live for. Ranger J. Autobahn Woodlore ©Disney Disney even seems to be keeping the Rivers of America boardwalk (major win), and possibly the Liberty Square Riverboat loading dock. Sightlines have been a big deal in the planning of this land, and it shows — this expansion blends into Frontierland with a vintage National Park aesthetic that somehow makes Cars in the Old West…make sense? ©Disney Bottom line: This isn’t just a random IP drop. It’s clever, it’s creative, and it’s bringing some seriously fresh energy to Magic Kingdom. Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run Is Getting a Whole New Mission If you’ve been skipping Smugglers Run lately, it’s time to rethink your priorities — because Disney just confirmed that a brand new storyline is coming to the ride in 2026. And yes, The Mandalorian and Grogu are involved. ©Disney The updated mission will let YOU and your crew choose your destination — like actually pick where you want to go. We’re talking Bespin, Tatooine, the ruins of the Death Star, Coruscant, Beggar’s Canyon, and more. Death Star ruins on the new version of Smuggler’s Run ©Disney This isn’t just a couple of new scenes — it’s a full refresh that turns the experience into something way more customizable. ©Disney One piece of concept art shows a Starspeeder from Star Tours casually parked in Cloud City, which means these ride storylines might be more connected than we thought. (Cue the Star Wars nerd meltdown.) ©Disney As for the story, Hondo Ohnaka is back and recruiting you to “borrow” the Falcon to help the Mandalorian capture some ex-Imperials making shady deals on Tatooine. Bonus: The engineer position is now elite, because they’ll be communicating with Grogu. Yep, Grogu. Probably just requesting more frogs, but still. ©Disney Whether you’re into chasing pirates or flying through Death Star wreckage, this upgrade is shaping up to be a must-do. Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin Is Getting a Glow-Up Disney confirmed that Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin is getting new ride vehicles, an updated scene, better gameplay, and a fresh sidekick named Buddy (adorable). ©Disney The new vehicles are inspired by Buzz’s Star Command color palette and loaded with video monitors that show off real-time scores and other gameplay updates. Basically, it’s about to feel a lot more like a modern video game than a clunky ‘90s arcade shooter. ©Disney And the biggest upgrade has to be the HANDHELD BLASTERS. That’s right—no more awkwardly twisting that fixed cannon into position while your arm cramps. These new ones are always-on lasers and come in two colors, so you can flex your score and aim precision. ©Disney The ride will close in August 2025 and reopen sometime in 2026, so get your rides in now if you want one last go at the OG version. A Brand New Nighttime Parade Is Coming to Magic Kingdom It’s been YEARS since Magic Kingdom had a new nighttime parade, and finally, Disney is delivering. Starting July 20, 2025, we’re getting a full-blown glow-up called Disney Starlight: Dream the Night Away—and the concept art has us so excited. ©Disney The parade kicks off with the Blue Fairy lighting up the sky, inviting everyone to “wish upon a star.” From there, it’s a nonstop lineup of iconic characters and scenes: Isabela from Encanto swinging on vines ©Disney Moana with Pua, HeiHei, and a manta ray repping Gramma Tala ©Disney A massive Princess float featuring Aurora, Tiana, Belle, Cinderella, and their princes ©Disney Miguel front and center on a vibrant Coco float backed by live mariachi sounds ©Disney A Wish float with Asha, Star, and Valentino ©Disney And the grand finale will see Mickey, Minnie, and Goofy in brand new Starlight costumes, cruising by on a float that’s clearly inspired by the Main Street Electrical Parade. Nostalgia meets new-era Disney in a BIG way. Grand Finale Float Concept Art ©Disney So there you have it—four HUGE sneak peeks into what’s coming soon to Disney World, and we are already mentally clearing our calendars. 7. Who’s in the mood for a snack?! Pinocchio Village Haus No trip to Magic Kingdom is complete without a yummy treat to enjoy partway through your day, and it seems like Disney’s constantly adding new options to try. Recently, we headed over to Pinocchio Village Haus to try out a sweet snack that just arrived. Say hello to the new Pinocchio Cookie Tart for $6.29! This new snack is filled with chocolate ganache and topped with chantilly cream, cookie dough crumbles, and a chocolate piece. Pinocchio Cookie Tart If you’re a fan of chocolate, you’re definitely going to want to try this! The ganache is smooth and sweet without an overwhelmingly chocolate taste. The chocolate chip cookie dough pieces add to the chocolate flavor, but add a little bit of chew to the texture. It’s really cute! The tart shell doesn’t have any sweetness, so it helps cut down on some of the sugar in the filling. It’s fairly stiff, so it can be hard to cut, but it holds together well when you pick it up. The white chocolate piece on top doesn’t add much overall besides look, but it does make the treat extra cute! The filling Ultimately, this was a pretty good snack, and not a bad value for the price. It’s probably not going to be the most popular snack in the park, but it’s a good addition if you want a little dessert to round out your meal at Pincchio Village Haus. 10. MagicBands are great…but they could be better. MagicBand+ MagicBand+ is an interactive accessory that makes visiting Disneyland, Disney World, and the Disney Cruise Line a little easier and more exciting. These bands let you link admission, access your hotel room, make purchases, check in for Lightning Lanes and virtual queues, connect to your PhotoPass photos, and become part of the Disney experience as they light up, vibrate, and enhance the world around you. Still, there could be a few features that would surely enhance this accessory. A More Interactive Interface MagicBand+ can interact with park elements and even lights up during shows, but it’s limited when it comes to any sort of watch face interface.’ MagicBand+ A cool thing about the MagicBand+ is that there are so many variations based on different themes, Disney IP, and more. That makes collecting them worthwhile. However, it’s possible that those themes could still stay unique while having some sort of digital interface — not unlike a digital watch. ©Disney It would be cool to see your favorite characters move around on the MagicBand+, or if you could see the time, or to be able to personalize the band even more than you already can. ©Disney While interface interactivity has not been a feature of the MagicBand in any iteration, its evolution to include more and more interactive elements gives some hope that we could see something like this in the future. The Ability To Easily Unlink A MagicBand+ When you set up your MagicBand, you will link it to your account and then assign it to the admission you’d like. However, unlinking a MagicBand isn’t as simple… MagicBand+ Neither MagicBand nor MagicBand+ can be unlinked once it’s been assigned to an account, so if you made a mistake or want to move a band from one account to another, you’ll need to contact Disney directly for assistance. MagicBand+ We understand the importance of linking a band to an account and making sure it sticks — there’s a lot of sensitive information attached to these bad boys. But still, it would be nice to have the option to be able to unlink an account without having to go through all the bells and whistles. More Uses MagicBands are exclusive to Disney World, and MagicBand+ can only be used at Disney World, the Disneyland Resort, and aboard the Disney Cruise Line. If you want some use at home or at the Disney Parks overseas, you’re out of luck. Tron Lightcycle / Run MagicBand+ It would be great if there were more incentives to buy MagicBands. At Disneyland, they’re still a fairly new arrival, and it’s great that you can now use MagicBand+ on both coasts. But it would be nice if we could use them at EVERY Disney Park. MagicBand+ It would also be great if MagicBands had some sort of interactivity OUTSIDE of the Disney Parks. Maybe you can turn on an option so they line up with a Disney parade or nighttime spectacular, displaying different lights. Just something to let us take home some of that famous Disney magic. 13. Change is certainly no stranger to Disney fans, and another change is coming to Downtown Disney in Anaheim — but it’s not a totally welcome one. Earl of Sandwich Tavern We’ve already seen some restaurants close for good, while others have opened in their place. Yet another restaurant is permanently closing at Downtown Disney soon, and it happens to be one of our favorite, underrated, quick spots to grab a bite to eat — Earl of Sandwich Tavern. The Orange County Register has reported that Earl of Sandwich Tavern will close its temporary location at Downtown Disney so that a new Porto’s Bakery can take its place — and will lay off 167 employees in the process. Earl of Sandwich Tavern will close its temporary location in the former home of La Brea Bakery as construction continues on a permanent location for this sandwich shop. Earl of Sandwich Tavern The layoffs were first announced in a Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification (WARN) letter sent to state employment officials on May 29th. The layoffs will begin on July 28th and will end by August 10th, the letter states. The temporary Earl of Sandwich food truck that has been operating on the west end of Downtown Disney since 2024 will continue to operate, according to the Earl of Sandwich website. Temporary Earl of Sandwich location at Downtown Disney But, all is not lost because a NEW two-story Earl of Sandwich location is under construction near the Downtown Disney performance lawn. This restaurant will feature a quick service walk-up counter, a sit-down Earl of Sandwich Tavern restaurant, and an upstairs cocktail bar. The original location was torn down in 2022, with AMC Theatre, Starbucks West, and Sugarboo and Co. as part of the continued renovations at Downtown Disney. Earl of Sandwich Construction on the new Porto’s Bakery & Cafe is set to begin sometime this year, though it has seemingly been delayed. We’ll be on the lookout for additional updates from Downtown Disney. In the meantime, make sure you stay tuned to DFB for the latest Disney news! Want to Learn More About Disneyland? 14. Universal Orlando has identified its first haunted house of the 2025 Halloween Horror Nights lineup, and we can expect some “Fallout” — as in the Prime Video series based on the post-apocalyptic videogame of the same name. The “Fallout” house will include scenes and characters from the series, which is set in a time after nuclear war has destroyed civilization. The year is 2296. What’s left at this time are mutated animals and creatures, but people live in luxurious underground shelters known as Vaults. Other “Fallout” elements, according to a Universal news release, will include a bounty hunter with radiation exposure, a bloody massacre, survivors called Scavengers and Raiders, “RAD Roaches” and a place called Super Duper Mart. Horror Nights, an after-hours event that requires separate ticketing at Universal Studios theme park, starts Aug. 29 and runs 48 select nights through Nov. 2. It will feature 10 haunted houses as well as scare zones and live shows. “Live the horror you love to watch,” a narrator says in a new HHN promotional video. The “Fallout” house will also be part of Universal Studios Hollywood‘s Horror Nights event. Universal is now selling single-night HHN tickets and some upgrades, including express passes. Prices vary with dates. Some packages include a day at the new Epic Universe theme park. Frequent Fear passes are not yet for sale for the Orlando event. HHN’s Premium Scream Night will return Aug. 28, the evening before the official launch. The event has limited capacity, shorter wait times and food options as part of its admission fee. 15. Let’s talk about something nobody really warns you about when you’re heading to Disney World: the charging situation in your hotel room. Bed area You’d think a place as magical as Disney would have figured out how to give everyone enough outlets, but the reality is that it can be chaos. You’re trying to plug in your phone, your Apple Watch, your AirPods, your partner’s stuff, your MagicBand+, and maybe your kid’s tablet too — and suddenly, it’s an outlet war. There’s one simple solution that’ll change your hotel room game completely. Trust us — this is the one item you’ll wish you’d packed if you didn’t. DISCLOSURE: This post may contain affiliate links, meaning when you click the links and make a purchase, we receive a commission. 3 in 1 Foldable Charging Station for Apple Devices ©Amazon This compact charger is like bringing a tiny tech butler with you. It charges your iPhone, Apple Watch, and AirPods at the same time — and it only needs one cord. So instead of crawling under the nightstand looking for an extra outlet, you just unfold this little guy and you’re set. It even works as a phone stand, which is perfect if you’re watching videos while winding down from a long day in the parks. ©Amazon This fits easily in a backpack or even a belt bag if you’re that committed. It folds flat when you don’t need it, then snaps into place when you do. You get back from the parks, your battery is hanging by a thread, and boom—drop your phone on this and it’s charging instantly. No tangled cords. No unplugging the hotel lamp. No stress. ©Amazon Quick heads-up: this charger only works with iPhones 12 and newer unless you’re using a magnetic phone case. So if you’re still hanging on to that iPhone 11 (no judgment), just make sure you have the right case. It’s also not compatible with Samsung phones, but if you’re in the Apple ecosystem, you’re all good. It supports pretty much every version of the Apple Watch and AirPods 2, 3, or 4, as long as your case is magnetic. ©Amazon The charger comes with an 18W adapter (no need to hunt one down separately), and it’s got all the safety features: temperature control, overvoltage protection, short circuit protection, you name it. Basically, it’s designed to not destroy your phone, which is nice. ©Amazon There’s something about the end of a Disney park day—you’re tired, sweaty, maybe slightly sunburned, and the last thing you want to deal with is trying to untangle five cords just to make sure everything’s charged for rope drop tomorrow. This charger fixes that. ©Amazon It’s simple, it’s compact, and it works. And right now, it’s available on Amazon with everything included—no extra accessories needed. If you’re heading to Disney World soon, toss this into your bag. It’ll save you space, save you time, and probably save you from a tech meltdown at 11PM when your phone’s at 3%. 16. Few companies have CEOs who draw as much attention (and criticism) as The Walt Disney Company’s Bob Iger. Iger has been a top Disney executive for decades, assuming the role of CEO in 2005. Iger rose to popularity with wins like Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge and Toy Story Land, left his position as CEO, handed the reins over to Bob Chapek, and returned (ousting Chapek) in 2022 with a new goal to find a worthy successor before retiring in 2026. ©Disney These days, one question looms large: Who has what it takes to run The Walt Disney Company? Many names have made headlines as potential CEO candidates — some internal and some external contenders. These days, though, there are four main candidates who seem to have the best shot at taking over the company, and many are betting big on the current Chairperson of Walt Disney Parks and Resorts. Despite the questions swirling around who will replace Bob Iger, one thing is certain. Iger’s current contract expires in 2026, and he will “definitely” step down as CEO. Disney has previously stated that the process of succession is “robust,” though Iger has not revealed much about what’s going on behind the scenes. Walt Disney Company Headquarters in Burbank Although Disney has not publicly commented on its succession plans, rumors run rampant online. The Hollywood Reporter recently published a piece on the “real-life Game of Thrones” power struggles happening right now in Hollywood, including Disney. Given Disney’s public failure when Iger was first replaced in 2020, the new bid to name a successor is being called “the most watched succession game in town (and maybe the world).” Disney even hired James Gorman, chairman emeritus of Morgan Stanley, to oversee the selection process. Bob Chapek and Bob Iger ©CNBC It’s too soon to say who will officially take over, so Disney fans and Hollywood experts are left to speculate. Many believe that Josh D’Amaro, the Chairperson of Walt Disney Parks and Resorts, is the most likely successor. The Hollywood Reporter revealed that sources say D’Amaro “is now in pole position” given his work overseeing a $60 billion expansion of the parks business and helping Disney expand into video games with Epic (the maker of Fortnite). In public announcements and media events, like Disney’s mega D23 conferences, D’Amaro appears to be the most public-facing figure of the top candidates. Josh D’Amaro at Destination D23, 2023 ©Disney Other CEO candidates include Dana Walden (Co-Chairman of Disney Entertainment), Alan Bergman (Co-Chairman of Disney Entertainment), and Jimmy Pitaro (Chairman of ESPN). Each contender has their own set of strengths and weaknesses, though no one person seems to have experience with ALL areas of The Walt Disney Company — from sports to streaming to movies to parks and experiences. ©Disney Regardless of who takes over the position in 2026, they will inherit some major projects. Disney announced a massive theme park expansion in California, a set of brand-new cruise ships, a massive overhaul of several areas in Disney World, a new addition in Disneyland Paris, and, most recently, a new theme park in Abu Dhabi. And that’s just within the Disney Experiences division. Disney has been leaning heavily into its Experiences sector lately, which could be a good indication that it is eyeing D’Amaro as the next CEO. ©Disney At its core, the Disney brand is all about storytelling, so the new CEO must play the role of a main character as much as a businessman (or woman). We’ll continue to look out for updates as we approach Iger’s retirement. In the meantime, we’re always on the lookout for the latest Disney news, so stay tuned for more. “We’ve Learned From the Past” — Disney CEO Bob Iger Comments on Succession Process Join the DFB Newsletter to get all the breaking news right in your inbox! 17. A celebrity duo just vacationed at Disney! Disneyland’s Jungle Cruise We’ve developed a keen eye for spotting celebrities on vacation over the years, and it turns out, they’re just like us! While not everyone has had their chance to spot their favorite celebrities around Disney World and Disneyland, it’s a touching moment when they take to social media to talk about their visits, too. Robert and Bindi are no strangers to growing up in the celebrity spotlight. Now that they’re both grown adults, they’ve chosen to carry on their parent’s legacy working alongside the Australian Zoo and Crocodile Hunter Lodge as conservationists and zookeepers educating adults and children alike on their passion for wildlife, creatures, animals of all shapes and sizes, and how everything we do affects how we continue to enjoy the Earth. These giraffes needed to have this picture taken of them. Bindi Irwin is also not one to shy away from giving us a further peek into their time they spent together on vacation as a family. She posted several photos on Instagram of her family by Sleeping Beauty Castle… ©bindisueirwin on Instagram …heading into Disney California Adventure… ©bindisueirwin on Instagram …a warm hug from Princess Tiana… ©bindisueirwin on Instagram …a group photo taken in New Orleans Square… ©bindisueirwin on Instagram …and of course, a quick ride through the jungle aboard a skipper boat on the Jungle Cruise! ©bindisueirwin on Instagram Bindi captioned the photo carousel we’ve found ourselves feverishly scrolling through in awe to read, “I haven’t been sharing a lot here because May has been a truly enormous month, filled with highs and lows. Here’s a small collection of those moments. “I love you” will never be enough for my family.” These photos look like sweet memories being made between the Irwin family! It’s always a pleasure when we get an opportunity to see Disneyland through their lens and realize we’ll all be captivated by the same memories we make on our own vacation. 18. New attractions are coming to Magic Kingdom, so your trip is going to look a lot different in a few years! Cinderella Castle On top of the new land themed to the Disney Villains, parts of Frontierland are going to be transformed into a Cars-inspired space with two new attractions. People have had mixed opinions about this change since it was first announced, but now we’ve got more information that will hopefully help people feel better. The new Cars area of Frontierland is going to be called Piston Peak, and it will be home to two new rides — one that’s a rally race and one that’s made for the whole family. The land will feature fan-favorite Cars characters, as well as some new ones. But what might be most exciting? It’s going to have LOTS of water elements. Piston Peak ©Disney When Disney announced that the Cars attractions would be replacing the Rivers of America and Tom Sawyer Island, one of the main complaints from fans was that we’d be losing some major water elements of Magic Kingdom. Water is a big component in helping a theme park feel “alive” and in motion, and people were definitely disappointed that they would have to say goodbye to the river. Rivers of America But worry not! Disney has shared that the new Piston Peak area will have plenty of water. Disney described the expansion by saying: “Imagine an awe-inspiring wilderness filled with towering trees, snowcapped mountains, breathtaking waterfalls, roaring rivers, and impressive geysers.” ©Disney There will be a river that flows through Piston Peak, and Disney Imagineers have said they “lost count” of how many waterfalls there will be. The whole area was inspired by National Parks, specifically the Rocky Mountain National Park in Colorado. The area is called Piston Peak from the fictional land, Piston Peak National Park, from the 2014 movie Planes: Fire & Rescue. Even though that’s where it gets its name, the new expansion will not be based on a specific Cars franchise movie or show, and it will look different than the national park from Planes: Fire & Rescue because it’s inspired by different parks. ©Disney Hopefully, this news makes people feel more confident in the new area of the park. We’ll be interested to learn more about the upcoming attractions and changes to Frontierland! Check out the video below to learn more about the expansions coming to Disney World. 19. Two NEW shows recently premiered at Hollywood Studios, and they’re already changing our game plan for Disney World’s third theme park! Hollywood Studios On May 27th, both The Little Mermaid — A Musical Adventure AND Disney Villains: Unfairly Ever After premiered at the park. The former, an update of the classic Voyage of the Little Mermaid show, uses “lively puppets, props, digital puppetry and jaw-dropping effects” to tell an abridged version of the film’s story, including performances of “Kiss the Girl”, “Daughters of Triton.” “Part of Your World”, “Under the Sea”, and “Poor Unfortunate Souls”. The latter is a “spellbinding show with moving music and a most memorable finale—where you help decide who has been treated most unfairly.” So, how will these two shows alter your next Hollywood Studios day? Well, let’s break it down. Currently, The Little Mermaid — A Musical Adventure is scheduled to run continuously from 9:15 to 7:15 each day, while Disney Villains: Unfairly Ever After has shows scheduled for 10:00 AM, 11:00 AM, 12:00 PM, 12:30 PM, 1:00 PM, 1:30 PM, 2:00 PM, 2:30 PM, 3:00 PM, 3:30 PM, 4:00 PM, 4:30 PM, 5:00 PM, 6:00 PM, and 7:00 PM each day through early August, the furtherest possible days listed on the Disney calendar. The Little Mermaid — A Musical Adventure As of right now, neither of these two shows are part of the Lightning Lane program. Interestingly, the Little Mermaid show was initially stated to be Lightning Lane eligible; however, that changed shortly before the show’s official opening. That said, Lightning Lanes could still play a part in figuring out which show times you’d like to see. Cruella The Little Mermaid show is staged in the same theater as its predecessor in the park’s Animation Courtyard area, while the Villains show takes place at the former home of the Lightning McQueen Racing Academy, Sunset Showcase, which is located near the Rock ’n’ Roller Coaster. So, if you have Lightning Lanes booked for attractions near one of the shows (Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway and Toy Story Land for the former and the aforementioned Rock ’n’ Roller Coaster as well as the Tower of Terror for the latter), you can time seeing each show with those Lightning Lanes to try and maximize your time in each area of the park. Ursula! One further thing to keep in mind? Both of the new shows are indoors, which means that in the event of inclement weather shutting down major attractions in Toy Story Land and the Tower of Terror, each show may see a huge jump in demand during the closure. The same could hold true during periods when popular attractions like Rise of the Resistance or Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway go down due to technical issues. Kiss The Girl scene The Little Mermaid – A Musical Adventure and Unfairly Ever After have barely opened, and they’re already changing the face of Hollywood Studios. Stay tuned to DFB for more on the park’s transformation! The New Procedures You Have to Follow in Disney’s Hollywood Studios Join the DFB Newsletter to get all the breaking news right in your inbox! 20. If you were hoping to cruise through Ornament Valley this summer, you might need to hit the brakes. Disney California Adventure One of Disney California Adventure’s most beloved attractions is pulling into the garage for a little tune-up, and we’re talking more than just a tire rotation. Here’s all you need to know! Radiator Springs Racers at Cars Land will be temporarily closed starting August 18th, 2025, for a scheduled refurbishment that will last approximately one month. Let’s roll! Just like any high-performance racer, this attraction needs regular care to keep it running smoothly. During the closure, crews will be resurfacing sections of the track to make the ride smoother than a fresh coat of paint. And it’s not just the pavement getting some polish. Guests might also experience improvements to audio, lighting, and behind-the-scenes tech that’ll help everything run more reliably when it reopens, according to Scott Gustin. Radiator Springs at Disney California Adventure In other words, the folks in the pit crew are working to make sure this Cars Land staple keeps delivering those high-speed thrills and jaw-dropping scenic views for years to come. No official reopening date has been announced just yet, but the closure is expected to last a little over a month. Radiator Springs Even while Radiator Springs Racers is parked for maintenance, the rest of Cars Land will still be open and ready to roll. You can spin around with Mater at his Junkyard Jamboree or take a twirl with Luigi’s dancing roadsters. And of course, Flo’s V8 Café will still be serving up that sweet nostalgia (and those even sweeter shakes). Flo’s V-8 Cafe Just keep in mind that the shortcut between Cars Land and Avengers Campus is still blocked off due to construction on the upcoming Avengers attraction. That detour will remain in place through summer 2026, so plan your route accordingly. Luigi’s Rollickin’ Roadsters So while it may be tough to see Radiator Springs Racers temporarily closed, this refurbishment is the kind of maintenance that keeps a fan-favorite attraction feeling fresh and firing on all cylinders. 22. Disney+ is home to all the Disney content you could imagine. It’s where you’ll find every movie and TV show made by Disney Animation, Pixar, Marvel, Star Wars, and National Geographic — a streaming platform created truly for every Disney fan. ©Disney Get a movie night scheduled in your calendars, because Disney+ is getting something NEW next week! Heigh Ho, Heigh Ho, it’s to the couch we go! The live-action adaptation of the Disney princess who started it all will finally be coming to Disney+ on June 11th. Of course, we’re talking about Snow White! ©Disney The movie stars Rachel Zegler (Snow White) and Gal Gadot (Evil Queen), as they reimagine the Disney animated 1937 classic film. Follow the journey of Snow White who flees from the Evil Queen, and finds refuge with Dopey, Bashful, Grumpy, Sneezy, Happy, Doc, and Sleepy. When the palace guards embark on a mission determined to bring her back, a commoner and his group of woodland bandits band together to protect her. ©Disney Although it’s inspired by the Disney animated classic, there are quite a few changes that were made to the film. The film wasn’t that well received in theatres, becoming a box office flop, and earning a 40% on Rotten Tomatoes (however, it did get a decent 71% audience score). The movie grossed $205.5 million worldwide at the box office, falling short of the $400 million production and marketing budget. ©Disney Maybe fans just didn’t think it was worth watching in theatres, and were waiting for this moment to give it a try. Snow White is a fan-favorite princess, and maybe more people just need to give this film a try. If you love musicals, the movie features 11 songs. The new ones are composed by Benj Pasek and Justin Paul, who composed the music for La La Land. You’ll get to hear new songs like “Good Things Grow” and “A Hand Meets A Hand.” Of course, the movie also features the classics we all know and love, including “Whistle While You Work” and “Heigh-Ho.” ©Disney It’ll be interesting to see what the viewership count is like on streaming, based on how it was received in the theatres. The talk around this movie has died down quite a bit due to Disney’s NEWEST live-action adaptation, which has become a hit so far. Lilo and Stitch earned $610 million worldwide after just ten days in the theatre, and it has all the buzz right now. Fans might want to just move past the Snow White flop, and anticipate Lilo and Stitch coming to streaming instead (but that won’t be for a while). ©Disney If you haven’t seen Snow White, you’ll get your chance on June 11th to give it a try. 25. Back in 2024, Disney shared that a new area inspired by the Pixar Animation Studios movie Cars would be coming to Frontierland in Magic Kingdom, and we FINALLY got more details on this new space. ©Disney Disney shared that this NEW part of Frontierland will be known as Piston Peak, and is inspired by National Parks — specifically, Rocky Mountain National Park. We’ve been diving into all the details, and we happened to notice that it looks like some of the concept art for this new land has changed. We must admit — we’re pretty excited about the new Cars area coming to Magic Kingdom, Piston Peak. When this project was first announced, Disney shared some early concept art designs that fans didn’t seem to be too thrilled about. Whether Disney listened to those fans or whether this was just a natural part of the planning process, that concept art has seemingly changed. Cars Area Concept Art ©Disney Below is part of one of the original concepts that was released when Disney announced the new Cars land, and you can see there is one large rock formation at the top that resembles a piston from a car engine. It stands tall and is definitely something that looks like it could be seen from anywhere in Frontierland — and maybe even anywhere in Magic Kingdom. ©Disney But, recently, Imagineers shared a new map of Piston Peak, and you can see that the concept art has changed. Instead of one snowy peak, there are three. Not only that, but Imagineers also shared that they are being particularly careful about sightlines in Piston Peak and Frontierland — and they confirmed that these snowy peaks will only be seen when on the ride, not from the land itself. And, the pistons will be a pass-through element you’ll actually get to experience on the ride, too! ©Disney Piston Peak is based on Rocky Mountain National Park, which includes red rocks, mountains, rivers, and tons of diverse landscapes. But it’s also based on Disney animated parks, and even existing park buildings like Disney’s Wilderness Lodge and Grizzly Peak in Disney California Adventure! ©Disney The buildings in Piston Peak will have “car-ified” elements like lower windows so that cars can see out of them, entrances and building additions that are big enough for cars, and architecture that shows the cars are using found materials — like old wagon wheels — in their buildings. Disney also shared that Big Thunder Mountain Railroad will be subtly updated to fit into the Piston Peak area — you’ll see rainbow geyser pools scattered around the base of the mountain, and possibly even some tire tread tracks in the dirt! @Disney Oh, and did we mention that this area will have a LOT of water elements and shade?! Both are things that have been sorely missing in some of the other lands opened recently. Imagineers said they lost count of the number of waterfalls being added to this new area. We also know that there will be a geyser inspired by Old Faithful called Old Tankful — which is just the best pun. ©Disney We can’t wait to learn more about Piston Peak coming to Magic Kingdom.
