And with the Disneyland Resort 70th Celebration still underway, we’re here to share that the fall nostalgia and festive frights will be especially memorable. You may be wondering what Halloween, autumn and anniversary experiences you can look forward to at the Disneyland Resort. Broom-stick with us to find out! Halloween at Disneyland Park Halloween Time at the Disneyland Resort will take place Aug. 22 through Oct. 31, 2025. So much iconic Halloween magic is on its way back, as quintessential fall sights, sounds and flavors take over the resort. Signature decoration elements — ambient orange lighting, bunting, leaves, and of course, more pumpkins than anyone could count — will once again materialize. Mickey Mouse, Minnie Mouse and their friends will dress to impress this Halloween in bright new looks featuring swirling colors of purple, green and orange — a twist on their 70th Celebration outfits! Make sure to wave “hello” and snap a photo. At Disneyland, the beloved Haunted Mansion Holiday attraction overlay invites you into a world where Halloween’s spooky charm collides with Christmas’s magical glow. It’s a must-see for fans of “Tim Burton’s The Nightmare Before Christmas” who want to reunite with Santa Jack, Sally and Zero inside the eerie estate. Catch “Halloween Screams,” the nighttime spectacular filled with haunting projections and special effects showing creatures of the night and Disney Villains like Hades and Ursula. Are they truly evil — or just misunderstood? On select nights, your experience may be accompanied by fireworks over the skies of Disneyland. Disney’s Happiest Haunts Guided Tour unearths chilling stories and thrilling experiences in a two-hour walking tour across Disneyland park. The tour includes Lightning Lane access to a select attraction and reserved viewing for “Halloween Screams.” Halloween at Disney California Adventure Park Radiator Springs will take on its wheelie boo-tiful transformation — Radiator Screams — featuring Halloween overlays like Luigi’s Honkin’ Haul-O-Ween and Mater’s Graveyard JamBOOree. Lightning McQueen and his friends will take part in the fun in their creative car-stumes! Available in the evenings at Avengers Campus, don’t forget to check out Guardians of the Galaxy – Monsters After Dark. Something’s brewing in the Disney Theater for kids and the kids at heart… it’s Mickey Mouse and his pals dressing up to celebrate Halloween in “Mickey’s Trick and Treat”! This interactive show will temporarily replace “Disney Jr. Mickey Mouse Clubhouse Live!” during the fall season, ringing in the spirit of spooky without any real scares. You’ll even get to take home a special treat. If you also love the warm feelings of tradition and remembrance, you won’t want to miss the return of Plaza de la Familia at Disney California Adventure park, Aug. 22 through Nov. 2, 2025. This heartfelt celebration at Paradise Gardens Park, inspired by the spirit of Día de los Muertos, will once again feature live entertainment from the “Storytellers of Plaza de la Familia Celebrate the Musical World of Coco!,” delicious Mexican cuisine, artful crafts and a special photo opportunity with a hand-animated dimensional figure of Miguel. As Disney’s Hollywood Studios barrels towards its 40th anniversary, the park a generation will forever refer to as “MGM” holds a bevy of secrets that few are aware of during their visit. Disney’s Hollywood Studios Studios has changed a lot in the last 4 decades, from its original incarnation as a true working studio to its modern collection of intellectual property-based cinematic experiences. And let us just tell you, this park has secrets. These secrets run the gamut from original version easter eggs to a hidden ride mode in the park’s newest land. Chewie Mode Let’s begin in that land, Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge. Specifically, did you know there’s a secret mode of Smuggler’s Run starring everyone’s favorite Wookie, Chewbacca? Millennium Falcon: Smuggler’s Run The special mode replaces Hondo Ohnaka’s “communications” with the ship with the voice of Chewie himself! Here’s how to do it: Ride Smugglers Run with a full cabin of 6 guests. It won’t work with less. Before the ride starts, do NOT activate your position right away. First, the left and right pilots need to push their control sticks to the far left or right and far up and down. Once the pilots do this, they need to push their activation button. Engineers and Gunners also ignore the pre-flight instructions and hold down one of the white buttons on their control panel, and then hit the activation button. Resistance Colors The signed colors for each ride group on Rise of the Resistance actually serve a purpose! Each row provides a different experience and vantage point of the attraction. Those assigned blue and red go to the front vehicle, while orange and white go to the back. The former is our pick for the slightly better experience since it has a closer encounter with the Probe Droid and the AT-AT. Onboard the ride Lightsaber Colors One final Galaxy’s Edge “secret”: If you’ve purchased a Lightsaber from Savvi’s Workshop, you can change the color of your blade with a simple purchase! ©Disney If you pick up any Kyber Crystal from Dok-Ondar’s Den of Antiquities, you can pop the crystal into your saber’s hold to immediately switch the color of your blade. Kyber Crystal colors The Visa Side of the Force Staying in a Galaxy Far Far Away, but moving across the park, there’s a special meet and greet in the Star Wars Launch Bay. Disney Visa Cardholders simply need to show their card to enter an exclusive meet & greet with Star Wars characters, including the Chosen One himself, Darth Vader! Vader PB&J with a KICK! We’re moving over to the 50’s Prime Time Cafe. Many guests know this sitcom-themed restaurant offers a Peanut Butter & Jelly Milkshake. PB&J Milk Shake However, what many may not know is that the cafe – and its attached Tune-In Lounge – offer an alcoholic take on the concept: The Tune-In PBJ Cocktail. The drink features Skrewball Peanut Butter Whiskey, Bols Blackberry Brandy, and Baileys Irish Cream Liqueur, topped with a Maraschino Cherry. The Tune-In PB&J Cocktail Roger Rabbit Lingers At the time of the Disney MGM-Studios opening, Roger Rabbit was arguably Disney’s most popular character, coming off the success of 1988’s Who Framed Roger Rabbit, so it’s not surprising that the park featured several nods to the character on opening day. Plans were in place for several full-scale attractions based on the character, including a full-scale mini-land at one point. A Roger Rabbit billboard at Hollywood Studios However, due to legal issues surrounding the character as well as the initial financial failure of EuroDisney, those plans were scuttled, and most references to the character disappeared. However, some have remained, including a Maroon Cartoons billboard and a silhouette of the character bursting out of Eddie Valiant’s window, both located in the park’s Echo Lake area. Roger? Summer in Disney World is about to be different from what it was before, but what does that really look like? Summer in Magic Kingdom Disney introduced that this year they’d be doing something called Cool Kid Summer, and while it sounds great on paper, we’ve been really curious to see how it would come across in real life. But what really IS Cool Kid Summer, and is it worth heading to the parks to experience? Cool Kid Summer is spread across all four parks this season and includes special ticket deals, character experiences, and so much more. But what is Disney really offering this summer? Are these offerings just for kids, or can adults enjoy them too? Let’s break it down! Stitch Ticket and Hotel Offers You can save some big money on tickets this year with Cool Kid Summer — there’s a special 3-day, 3-park ticket offer that doesn’t include Magic Kingdom, for $89 per day, plus tax, which brings it to a total of $267, plus tax. In addition to that, parents can save 50% on their kids’ 3-day or longer standard Walt Disney World tickets, which is a GREAT deal! All-Star Music Resort Additionally, if you’re thinking of staying at a Disney World hotel and you’re a Disney+ subscriber, select hotels start from $99 per night, plus tax (total starting from $198, plus tax for a 2-night stay). You must be staying for at least two nights and traveling between June 29th to July 31st, 2025. Magic Kingdom LOTS is coming to Magic Kingdom this summer, and one of the most exciting new additions is the Disney Starlight Parade! This new nighttime parade will debut on July 20th, 2025. Disney Starlight debuts July 20th in Magic Kingdom ©Disney There are also TWO new DJ-led dance parties in Magic Kingdom. Big Top Bash is located at Storybook Circus, and kids can dance to their favorite tunes and marvel at the stilt walkers and jugglers performing. And over in Tomorrowland, you can join Stitch at the Rocket Tower Plaza Stage to dance! Big Top Bash We’ve also seen lots of new wandering character interactions happening around the park throughout the day. If you’re staying at a Disney World hotel and are stepping into the park for Early Entry, you’ll especially want to keep your eyes peeled! EPCOT Again, you’ll want to keep your eyes peeled for the wandering character interactions at Early Entry. Phineas and Ferb from the hit TV show are also meeting guests through June! You can find them at the front of the park near Spaceship Earth. Phineas and Ferb The main attraction here is GoofyCore at CommuniCore Hall, which includes games like Loopy Limbo and Parachutes ‘n’ Pipsqueaks, as well as dancing along to tunes with Goofy. Parachutes ‘n’ Pipqueaks This is a great place to get in the AC for a little while, but let your kids run around and burn off some energy! Disney’s Hollywood Studios You can also spot iconic characters like Donald, Goofy, and Chip and Dale out and about, along with magicians, jump rope extraordinaires, and more, over in Animation Courtyard! So fun! There’s also a new show in Animation Courtyard called Get Animated, which is a new dance show with some of your favorite Disney Junior characters. Kiddos are sure to love it! Get Animated! There’s also a new snack stand nearby, Get Refreshed, which is sponsored by Once Upon a Farm. Get Refreshed Disney’s Animal Kingdom There’s a handy dandy new guide in this park that has a ton of different animals to find and circle throughout your park day. We think it’s super cute and wish it would stay around together! Map of all the animals to circle You can also unlock a limited-time Wilderness Explorers badge when you pick up your Wilderness Explorer book at the station on Discovery Island. The Cool Kids Summer badge is located at that little gazebo in front of Feathered Friends in Flight and Yak & Yeti in Asia! It’s all about learning to play outside, which is perfect for summer. Wilderness Explorer activity With that being said, we think these Cool Kid Summer activities are certainly fantastic for kids, but adults who love meeting characters, especially seeing them in environments they don’t usually get to (ie. outside of regular meet and greets, wandering around, etc.) will also really find extra value in booking a trip during this time. Rapunzel and Flynn Ryder Going to Disney World in the summer isn’t for the faint of heart, so be sure you pack that sunscreen, grab your cooling towels and mini fans, and get ready to step into the AC whenever you need to cool off for a moment. Driving to Disney World could soon be a little easier. The Central Florida Tourism Oversight District (CFTOD), a planning district in charge of the Disney World area, has two major roadway design projects planned. Welcome to Disney World! The projects are still in the early stages of development; in fact, the CFTOD has just opened its projects to engineering firms and teams to bid on project contracts in an upcoming Design Forum. There are two important upcoming roadway design projects up for bidding: Buena Vista Drive/Western Way Interchange Western Way Widening Traffic in Disney World So, what can we expect these projects to accomplish? First, the Central Florida Tourism Oversight District plans to make improvements to the Buena Vista Drive/Western Way intersection to facilitate the movement of traffic through the area. Between commuter traffic, Disney College Program buses, and families driving to Disney World, this area is known to get pretty backed up at peak times of day. ©Google Maps According to the Central Florida Tourism Oversight District, the project proposes a “grade separated interchange, with Buena Vista Drive elevated above Western Way with interconnected ramps to facilitate traffic movements.” ©CFTOD The changes along Buena Vista Drive will extend 1.02 miles from the existing Buena Vista Drive/World Drive Interchange to an area near Disney’s Winter Summerland Miniature Golf Course entrance, while the changes along Western Way will span approximately 0.59 miles near Disney’s Coronado Springs Resort and the existing intersection of Western Way and Buena Vista Drive. Finally, the changes will bring new alignment from the intersection at Buena Vista Drive to the intersection at the Blizzard Beach driveway. Welcome to Disney World The Central Florida Tourism Oversight District is also set to add a stormwater conveyance system and stormwater ponds “to provide treatment of stormwater runoff from the project and the relocation and reconstruction of existing utilities running through the project area.” We don’t have a proposed timeline for this project yet, but the CFTOD stated that the project will be completed in phases. Winter Summerland Mini Golf Additionally, the Central Florida Tourism Oversight District has a second project on the horizon. In project #2, the CFTOD intends to widen Western Way from the State Road (SR) 429/ Western Way interchange east to the Coronado Springs Resort. Views from the rooftop lounge at Coronado Springs Resort Engineers will widen Western Way “approximately 2.45 miles from the CFTOD/Turnpike property boundary near the SR 429/Western Way interchange to approximately 535 feet north/west of the driveway serving Disney’s Coronado Springs Resort.” When this project is complete, the road will expand from four lanes to six lanes. ©CFTOD There is no proposed timeline for this project yet, but the CFTOD stated that the project will be completed in phases. Our Hollywood Studios evenings are usually filled with rides on Slinky Dog Dash, eating fun ice cream by the Tower of Terror, and rounding off the night with a showing of Fantasmic!. This summer, there’s a day when our evening adventures will be cut short! Slinky Dog Dash We keep an eye on all the park hours at Disney World so you can best plan your vacation, and we noticed on a random night this summer, the Hollywood Studios hours are drastically different. On August 16th, Hollywood Studios will be closing at 6 PM. If you’re planning on coming to the parks around that date, you might need to rearrange your schedule! Disney’s Hollywood Studios When parks close early, they can sometimes be emptier than usual during the day. We’ve seen this with events like Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party and Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party. If you don’t have the Park Hopper option to jump over to another park, most guests would rather have a whole park day when they’re paying per ticket. Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge If you have the Park Hopper add-on, you might want to consider visiting Hollywood Studios in the morning and then heading over to EPCOT or Magic Kingdom, which are open until 9 PM and 10 PM, respectively. Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railway Really want that full day at Hollywood Studios? You’ll want to switch around what day you go to each park to make sure you get all the hours you need to ride attraction after attraction and get that snack you’ve been thinking about for months. Here are all the park hours on August 16th, 2025: Magic Kingdom: 9 AM to 10 PM EPCOT: 9 AM to 9 PM Hollywood Studios: 9 AM to 6 PM Animal Kingdom: 8 AM to 6 PM Snacks at Woody’s Lunch Box We’ll be keeping an eye on the schedule to see if anything changes, but in the meantime, make sure you’re following Disney Food Blog for all the Disney news you need for your upcoming vacation. There’s a fresh face at Peppa Pig Theme Park. Baby Evie, a second little sibling to Peppa, will soon be now available for meet-and-greet duties at the Winter Haven attraction. The park will welcome Evie on June 13. It will then be home to Peppa, Mummy and Daddy Pig, brother George and little Evie, who was born last month. The characters are from a British animated series and, like Peppa Pig Theme Park, aimed at preschoolers. Park visitors can see the family at Mr. Potato’s Showtime Arena. Evie’s birth was announced via Instagram and media blitz on May 20. Since then there have been tie-ins with Spotify and Jeep, “Peppa Meets the Baby: The Album,” the Baby Cinema Experience and assorted messages discussing how another little one affects the lives of the Pigs. Peppa Pig Theme Park, operated by Merlin Entertainments, opened as part of Legoland Florida Resort in 2022. Since then, the company has opened Peppa Pig Theme Parks near Dallas and in Gunzburg, Germany. It also developed Peppa Pig World of Play locations in Grapevine, Texas; Schaumburg, Illinois; and Auburn Hills, Michigan. The family is featured in a new Lego Duplo Peppa Pig Playground at Legoland New York. “We look forward to continuing our collaboration with Hasbro over the coming years as we bring Peppa Pig to new audiences and create even more joy for families and young children for years to come,” said Fiona Eastwood, Merlin’s CEO, after the Dallas park opened in March. “There is so much in store for Peppa Pig as she becomes a big sister twice over, and we can’t wait to celebrate each milestone for Baby Pig in this new park with our friends at Merlin,” said Matt Proulx, Hasbro senior vice president, in March. The Florida attraction, the first of its kind, includes multiple play areas, a nature trail, a restaurant, shows, a movie theater, a fairground with games, Daddy Pig’s Roller Coaster and slow-paced rides. There’s also Muddy Puddles Splash Pad, which is more soggy than dirty. Email me at dbevil@orlandosentinel.com. BlueSky: @themeparksdb. Threads account: @dbevil. X account: @themeparks. There’s a brand-new lounge hiding in EPCOT, and let’s just say…it’s not where you think it is. Geo-82 Disney just opened the GEO-82 Lounge, and while it’s all sleek lines and grown-up vibes on the inside, you’ll probably walk right past the entrance if you don’t know what you’re looking for. This is EPCOT’s first adults-only lounge, and Disney did not phone this one in. So if you’re on the hunt for next-level cocktails, smooth jazz, and a spot that doesn’t scream “theme park,” here’s exactly how to find it. First, Let’s Talk Location You know that massive geodesic ball that EPCOT is known for? That’s Spaceship Earth, and GEO-82 lives right inside it. Kind of. Where it located The entrance is tucked behind Spaceship Earth—yep, you’re heading to the back of the big ball. Look for the Project Tomorrow area (you’ve probably exited the ride here before). Down there, you’ll find a lit-up sign and a gold hallway that just screams “this place is going to be bougie.” That’s your check-in desk. GEO-82 From the moment you walk up, things feel fancy in the best possible way. At check-in, we were handed a cold “tranquility-scented” towel, and yeah—it smelled like a luxury spa. Scented towels After that, it’s up the stairs (or elevator) to the lounge itself. You’ll hear the smooth jazz playing as soon as you get close. Honestly, the transition from theme park chaos to adult serenity is pretty incredible. Inside GEO-82 If you’ve been inside Spaceship Earth before, the vibe of this lounge will feel familiar—but elevated. It’s a total tribute to the attraction’s iconic design: geometric shapes, textured walls, warm metallics. It feels retro and futuristic at the same time, and somehow Disney nailed the balance. GEO-82 There’s a waiting area when you enter, then the lounge opens up into a warm, inviting space. GEO-82 Seating ranges from cozy booths to tables to bar seats. Pro tip: Sit at the bar. The view of EPCOT’s nighttime show might be better from the booths, but the bartenders at GEO-82 are on another level. The bar! Watching them mix drinks is part of the experience, and they’re more than happy to talk you through the ingredients and techniques. GEO-82 Also, look up—the lighting fixtures are a whole moment. What’s On the Menu This place isn’t just a pretty face. GEO-82 is serving up small plates and cocktails that are just as thoughtful as the design. Truffled Ahi Tuna The food menu leans global and modern. You’ll find dishes like Cannellini Hummus and a Charcuterie Selection, plus a few other small bites that pair perfectly with your drink of choice. But make no mistake—this is a cocktail lounge first. Chef’s Selection Charcuterie The drink menu is the real star here. Disney calls it “global flavors blended with culinary artistry in classic cocktails,” and that’s actually pretty accurate. These drinks aren’t just strong—they’re complex. Think craft ingredients, gorgeous presentation, and flavors you’re not finding at your standard park bar. Caramelized Leek Martini There are two Zero-Proof cocktails on the menu too, so if you’re skipping alcohol, you’re still getting something special. They’ve also got a nice selection of beer and wine, but let’s be honest: You’re here for the cocktails. Should You Go? GEO-82 isn’t for everyone, but for the right crowd, it might just be the best hidden gem in EPCOT. If you’re looking for an upscale, adults-only space to escape the noise of the parks, this lounge checks all the boxes. GEO-82 It’s quiet, it’s beautifully designed, and it feels like a calm reset button in the middle of a theme park day. The cocktails are top-tier—crafted with care and packed with interesting, layered flavors—and if you’re someone who genuinely appreciates a great drink, you’ll probably love watching the bartenders work their magic behind the bar. Sit at at the bar…trust us. It’s also a perfect stop if you just need a breather from the crowds and want to feel like you’re somewhere entirely different. Brulee Banana Highball That said, GEO-82 won’t be a fit for everyone. If your plan is to drink around the world, this probably isn’t the place to start. The drinks here are strong and intentional, not the kind of thing you want to slam back before heading to your next stop. Strawberrry-Black Pepper Sour And if your go-to order is something on the sweet and simple side—think vodka cran or a classic margarita—these more complex, elevated cocktails might not match your taste. Also, since this lounge is strictly 21 and up, it’s not a place to bring the whole family. You’re either carving out some solo time or coming back later when the kids are with someone else. Peach Shrub Whiskey Smash Whether you’re a lounge junkie or just looking to escape the crowds for a bit, GEO-82 delivers something rare in Disney World: quiet sophistication with a view. It’s hidden, it’s fancy, and now you know exactly where to find it. Make sure you stay tuned to the Disney Food Blog for the latest Disney news and more! Disney World’s next festival, the EPCOT International Food and Wine Festival, is right around the corner, and August 28th can’t come fast enough! Food & Wine Festival This is often EPCOT’s most popular festival of the year, which means the largest crowds on opening and closing days, as well as on weekends. If you’re preparing to head to the festival this year, while we’re still waiting on lots of information to come out, based on what we do know, here are the changes you may want to prepare yourself to see! CommuniCore Hall & CommuniCore Plaza With each festival so far this year, we’ve seen Disney turn CommuniCore Hall into a new exhibit or experience for guests to enjoy during the festival. Currently, it’s themed as GoofyCore at CommuniCore Hall for Cool Kid Summer, but we have a feeling it’ll undergo another transformation for this festival. GoofyCore in EPCOT At least, that’s what we’re hoping to see! When guests first stepped into this space for the first time, they were a little disappointed in the area and called it a “college cafeteria,” but since then, we’ve seen what it can really become! Festival of the Arts had a fantastic exhibit for Disney on Broadway, and we thoroughly enjoyed the flower-based exhibit for the Flower and Garden Festival as well. CommuniCore Hall during the 2025 EPCOT Flower & Garden Festival Therefore, you may want to expect this area to be closed for a little while before the festival officially begins so they can prepare, but you’ll likely have no issues exploring what CommuniCore Plaza has to offer outside! It’s also possible Disney keeps GoofyCore for a bit into the festival since Cool Kid Summer runs through September 1st, but we’ll just have to wait and see. 3 Booths CONFIRMED for the 2025 EPCOT Food & Wine Festival Eat to The Beat Concert Series While we know this popular offering is returning to the festival this year, Disney hasn’t announced exactly which artists will be performing at the Eat to the Beat Concert Series in 2025 just yet. You can score reserved seat by buying an Eat to the Beat dining package! With that being said, we’re hoping (and expecting) to see some new artists on the list when it’s released! Some of these artists might be more well-known, and if that’s the case, and you want to ensure you’ll get a spot, you may want to look into the Dining Package. Packages are available for breakfast, lunch, or dinner, and you’ll receive a voucher allowing you entry into the show of your choice later that day. This Popular EPCOT Restaurant Gave Me Serious Anxiety, and It Ended Up Being Totally Valid Seminars With CommuniCore Hall and CommuniCore Plaza ready to go, we’re really hoping we’ll see seminars return to this festival this year! Last year, as the area had just recently opened, we didn’t think it would be ready to host any (and we were right), but we’re hoping things are different this time around. EPCOT Food and Wine Festival Seminar 2019 Disney has not announced that any of these are returning at this time, but in the past, we’ve seen Beverage Seminars for $19 a person, so we’re really crossing our fingers we’ll see them return this time around. In the past, they were located at the World ShowPlace Events Pavilion, but we’re assuming that, if they return, they’ll be held in/around the CommuniCore Hall and CommuniCore Plaza area. Learn more about Food & Wine Festival Seminars! Living With The Land Lines Each festival, Living With The Land gets a special overlay with fun themes that vary year-to-year and festival to festival. Because of that, we’re thinking that we’ll see some longer lines for this attraction during the festival, so everyone can see what’s new, especially right when the festival starts! Living with The Land This ride also might have longer waits in the afternoons due to those good ‘ol afternoon summer thunderstorms, and since the Land Pavilion is all indoors. Just be prepared — we’ve run into it many times ourselves! As always, we’ll be in EPCOT on day one of the festival to share everything you need to know to prepare, so you won’t be going into your trip feeling lost. Be sure to stay tuned to DFB for all the latest EPCOT festival news — we’ve got you covered! Everything We Know About the 2025 EPCOT Food & Wine Festival in Disney World IT'S WINE & DINE TIME! If you are already planning your 2026 Disney World vacation, there are some changes coming that could impact your favorite rides! Cinderella Castle 2025 has brought a lot of changes to Disney World. Some of these include new shows and a new nighttime parade. Disney guests might also be aware of the several attractions that are closed for refurbishment this year, including Test Track and Astro Orbiter — both are set to reopen in 2025. However, looking ahead to 2026, there are rides that will be changing for good. 1. Big Thunder Mountain Big Thunder Mountain Railroad closed in January 2025 for what will be at least a year-long refurbishment. Disney has said that Big Thunder Mountain Railroad will reopen “with a little bit of new magic”. We’re not sure what this means, but we have seen some pretty extensive work being done on the attraction, including a new track. Big Thunder Mountain Railroad In May, we saw ride envelope testing vehicles on the tracks. These are meant to check ride safety and clearance. They have these extenders that reach out from their frame and act as the maximum reach of riders. This makes sure that nothing on the ride extends into that maximum reach area to keep guests safe. Big Thunder Mountain Railroad 2. Buzz Lightyear Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin will close in August and reopen sometime in 2026. There are a few changes Disney has shared with us that are coming to this ride. If you’ve ridden the ride before, you know about the static targets. Those will be upgraded with new technology that will allow them to react and light up when hit. ©Disney There will be new ride vehicles that will also have new blasters. These will be handheld, meaning that you’ll be able to aim and shoot easily. The new blasters will now include an always-on laser and come in two different colors, one for each guest in the vehicle. We are excited to see the updated changes when it reopens in 2026. As of right now, Disney has not shared a more specific reopening time. ©Disney 3. Dinosaur DinoLand, U.S.A. in Disney’s Animal Kingdom is being transformed into Pueblo Esperanza. This new land will include an Indiana Jones themed ride which will take over the current Dinosaur ride. The Indiana Jones ride will be a new adventure ride, different from the one currently at Disneyland and other Disney parks around the world. DINOSAUR It will feature a brand-new story following “the man with the hat” during a time when he has “recently discovered a perfectly preserved Maya temple, and that can only mean one thing: it’s time to explore it.” We know that DINOSAUR will be closing in 2026, but we don’t have an official date just yet. We aren’t sure when the Tropical Americas will open, but we will bring you any news we get on this new area. The new Tropical Americas land coming to Disney’s Animal Kingdom lets guests explore a preserved Maya temple – and the ensuing adventure – alongside Indiana Jones. Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Disney announced that they would be rethemeing Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster to the Muppets, and they just confirmed that the new version will open in 2026! The Muppets are set to be the star of the show on Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster and will be teaming up with some of “music’s biggest stars for a rockin’ music festival.” Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster This will be the first Disney ride to feature The Muppets and there are sure to be “laughter, screams and new tunes for this attraction for fans to enjoy throughout the adventure.” Disney has not shared when the attraction will close or reopen with the new theme. It could be in 2026, but it could also go beyond. We hope to hear more news on this change soon. ©Disney We hope this helps as you begin planning your 2026 Disney World vacation! A popular show just got canceled after one season, despite its two-season order! ©Amazon If you’re a fan of ballet, drama, and Paris, you’ve probably watched season one of Étoile. Well, we hate to break the news to you, but the Amazon Prime original series is getting cancelled. Let’s take a look at what happened! The creators, Amy Sherman-Palladino and Daniel Palladino, released the show for its debut in late April. Despite fairly positive reviews from critics, here we are six weeks later with the news that it’s over. All eight episodes were dropped simultaneously on Prime Video, which follows a trend of dropping a series on one day to be binge-watched. We’ve seen other streaming services like Disney+ and Netflix follow this pattern. ©Variety The show starred Luke Kirby and Charlotte Gainsbourg, who played ballet company directors and followed their story as they team up to save each other’s institutions. The show was ordered to series in 2023, coming around one month before the series finale of The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel — another show created by Amy Sherman-Palladino and Daniel Palladino for Prime Video. ©Hollywood Reporter The original series was actually greenlit by Jennifer Salke, who used to be the head of administration at Amazon MGM Studios. She had that title for seven years before choosing to step down in March 2025. This fell one month before Étoile premiered on the streaming site. ©Gold Derby There was a commitment towards a season two coming out; however, both creators seemed tentative about the outlook of the new season. This happened during an interview with Variety back in April 2025. So even though the streamer greenlit the production with a two-season commitment, it fell through. ©Amazon It just sucks when shows get cancelled, you sit there with this ending dangling over your head that you know will never come. A lot of change is happening over at Disneyland Resort, but it’s not all happening inside the park! Disneyland Resort If you’ve ever driven to Disneyland, you may have noticed that the traffic can be pretty bad at peak times of day. In an effort to reduce this congestion, there’s a big new project beginning in the Disneyland parking area that you’ll want to keep your eye on. While a lot of it is backstage right now, we did get a look at what some of the area will look like! Plans are underway for a new parking structure and transportation hub to be built on the east side of Disneyland Resort. Currently, a portion of the Manchester Cast Member parking lot is planned for use. The purpose of this new area is to provide approximately 6,000 parking spaces, shuttle and rideshare areas, additional security screening, as well as dedicated access for traffic off of Disney Way. This is all in an effort to improve parking and traffic flow throughout the resort area. ©Disney Shown in the artist concept rendering above, this new parking and transportation hub will also feature a pedestrian bridge over Harbor Boulevard, which will lead to an all-new esplanade arrival experience, as well as convenient public access to and from Harbor Boulevard. We headed over to where the current Manchester Cast Member parking lot is, as well as the intersection where the bridge will go, to get a look. Manchester Cast Member Parking This is the parking area that will now become public, and then, if you face the other way, you’ll look out onto the intersection where the pedestrian bridge will go. The intersection! As you can see, this is quite a busy area, so having a pedestrian bridge will be much easier than having to walk across the crosswalks like you do now. There’s a lot going on! If you’re traveling, there are some precautions you may take. Orlando International Airport You’ll probably want to pack extra items in case of emergencies, and you may work extra hard in the weeks leading up to your trip to make sure you don’t get sick. But have you ever checked your hotel room for bed bugs? If you haven’t, you may want to start. KTLA reports that two guests of a Ventura hotel recently won a major payout when they sued the hotel for having bed bugs. The Shores Inn was forced to pay the two visitors $2 million in what may be one of the largest bed bug-related lawsuit payouts to date. Bedbugs inside a home just outside of Paris via CBS News Alvaro Gutierrez and Ramiro Sanchez stayed in the hotel for one night in 2020. “The bed bugs latched onto the plaintiffs while they slept, sucked their blood until they were gorged, and resisted eradication,” says the lawsuit. The plaintiffs claimed that the hotel management was aware of the bed bugs through multiple online reviews but failed to solve the problem. Gutierrez was awarded $400,000 and Sanchez was awarded $600,000 for charges like “pain” and “disfigurement.” The jury also awarded each man $500,000 in punitive damages. The hotel is expected to appeal the decision. Make sure to check the bed in your hotel room! If you’re worried about bed bugs in your hotel room, make sure to check when you arrive, BEFORE you lay down on the bed or place your belongings on soft surfaces. Pull back the sheets, check the corners of the mattress, and look in any small holes or crevices. Do your due diligence! And if you find bed bugs during your search, make sure to alert hotel staff and get new accommodations! Trust us — you don’t want these bad boys to follow you home. The countdown is on. Rivers of America In 2024, Disney shocked the theme park world when they announced that a new Cars-based expansion was coming to the Magic Kingdom’s Frontierland, replacing the entirety of the Rivers of America, including Tom Sawyer Island and the Liberty Square Riverboat AKA the Liberty Belle with construction beginning in 2025. Despite the ire of many fans and Disney traditionalists, Disney has now formally announced a closure date for the Rivers and its two attractions. According to a June 2025 Disney Parks Blog post, the Rivers of America, Tom Sawyer Island and the Liberty Square Riverboat will close beginning July 7th, meaning that the last day to experience these Magic Kingdom originals will be July 6th. Rivers of America In addition, July 7th will also bring changes to the Disneyland Railroad. To accommodate the construction of the Cars area — revealed by Disney to be titled Piston Peak National Park, an “awe-inspiring wilderness filled with towering trees, snowcapped mountains, breathtaking waterfalls, roaring rivers and impressive geysers” — and the upcoming Villains Land, the iconic railroad will be rerouted for the foreseeable future. All aboard! Instead of circumnavigating the entire Magic Kingdom, the Walt Disney World Railroad will instead operate in “shuttle” mode, running back and forth between Main Street U.S.A. and Fantasyland while the Frontierland Station is closed. Disney will also be reversing some of the seating on the railroad cars, so guests can still face forward heading each way (or backwards, if they so choose). Train station We’re just about a month away from the closure of some of the Magic Kingdom’s iconic original elements as Disney World’s flagship theme park embarks on a controversial new future. Stay tuned to DFB for more on the Magic Kingdom’s changes. 5 Magic Kingdom Secrets Disney Doesn’t Want You to Know Join the DFB Newsletter to get all the breaking news right in your inbox! It’s hard to walk through the Grand Californian lobby without being lured over by the smell of something sweet. Grand California Hotel Right off the main hall, the Great Hall Cart has been dishing out cute seasonal treats, and we stopped by to check out a couple of the latest offerings. We tried the Pluto Whoopie Pie and the Daisy Loaf Cake, and wow—let’s just say one of them surprised us in a big way. If you’re planning to make a dessert detour during your Disneyland day, here’s what you need to know before grabbing either of these treats. We recently made a trip to the Grand Hall Cart in the Grand Californian in Disneyland to try out two treats on the menu: the Pluto Whoopie Pie for $10 and the Daisy Cake for $14. Daisy Loaf Cake and Pluto Whoopie Pie Pluto Whoopie Pie ($10) Let’s start with the one that looked like it had the most potential. The Pluto Whoopie Pie is brightly colored, very themed, and hard to miss in the display case. You’ve got green frosting sandwiched between two soft yellow-ish cake rounds, topped with a chocolate Pluto medallion that ties the look together. That being said, looks can be deceiving. Pluto Whoopie Pie The flavor here was just… off. The cake part was soft, which we appreciate, but the taste leaned hard into “artificial.” The coloring was intense, and it didn’t just stay on the cake—it got everywhere. Fingers, lips, napkins—good luck walking away from this one without looking like you had an accident with a highlighter. Pluto Whoopie Pie The green frosting had a very processed sweetness to it, and the whole thing tasted more like dye than dessert. We wanted to like it, but we just couldn’t get past the weird aftertaste and messy presentation. It’s a cute photo, but not a treat we’d go out of our way to grab again. Daisy Loaf Cake ($14) Now this is where things turned around. After the Pluto Whoopie Pie, we were cautiously optimistic about the Daisy Cake, and we’re happy to report it was the standout of the two. This one is a blueberry lemon cake that’s as pretty as it is delicious. It’s got a soft, moist texture with real blueberries baked right in, and the flavor balance is spot on. Daisy Loaf Cake The lemon isn’t overpowering—it hits right at the end with just enough sweetness to make you want another bite. Honestly, this is the kind of dessert you hope to find at Disneyland. It’s fresh, light (for cake), and has a unique flavor that makes it feel worth the detour. We’d take this over a basic churro any day. Daisy Loaf Cake It’s also not a huge portion, which actually worked in its favor. It’s rich enough to satisfy without making you feel too weighed down to enjoy the rest of your day. What Else is on the Menu? The Great Hall Cart isn’t just dishing out Pluto and Daisy. There’s actually a pretty full menu of treats, drinks, and even some fancy novelties. Great Hall Cart menu Here’s a quick rundown of what you’ll find: Sweet Treats: Goofy Crisped Rice Treat ($9) 70th Celebration Sugar Cookie ($10) Mickey-shaped S’mores Cookie Kit ($10) Pluto Whoopie Pie ($10) Chocolate Chip Cookie Cup with Milk ($10) Daisy Loaf Cake ($14) Wildflower Honey Jar ($14) Pretzel Rod Sticks ($16) Clarabelle Macarons ($25) Alcoholic Beverages: Chocolate Chip Cookie Shot with your choice of liqueur ($18) Options include Baileys, Kahlúa, Amaretto, Jameson, RumChata, and more. Signature Selections: Cookie Shot with Clase Azul Ultra Añejo or Louis XIII Cognac (Inquire for pricing) Novelty Items: Disneyland 70th Celebration Light-Up Mickey Balloon Bucket ($28) — comes with a sugar cookie Disneyland 70th Celebration Mickey Mouse Bucket ($52) — also comes with a sugar cookie (Note: Both novelty buckets have a two-per-person limit and are not discountable.) Great Hall Cart menu So yeah, there’s a lot packed into this little cart. It’s easy to walk past it without realizing just how many options are on deck, especially since it’s tucked inside the Grand Californian rather than in the parks. But if you’re in the area or planning a break from the hustle of the park, it’s worth checking out—just maybe skip the Pluto treat. Final Thoughts Here’s the quick and dirty summary: the Great Hall Cart is worth a stop, but choose wisely. The Pluto Whoopie Pie might look fun, but the taste is forgettable at best and off-putting at worst. On the flip side, the Daisy Cake is a standout—light, flavorful, and totally worth the walk over from the parks. If you’re looking for a sweet break from your day at Disneyland or Disney California Adventure, head to the Grand Californian lobby, grab that cake, and thank us later.
