  3. WEDNESDAY is our favorite day of the week! ALDI! That’s because Wednesday is when ALDI releases its upcoming “Aldi Finds.” Every week, Aldi brings in new items, and this week we spotted a pair of $15 items that EVERY Disney Adult needs. Yep, this is a need not a want! Aldi is releasing Mickey and Minnie-shaped candles! Just look at ’em! I mean, these will add some Disney style to your desk, kitchen counter, or coffee table! The Mickey Mouse candle is Teakwood & Cedar-scented, while Minnie Mouse has a Blushed Cherry Blossom scent. We LOVE ALDI! The Mickey Mouse and Minnie Mouse candles are priced at $14.99 and should be in stores on Wednesday, July 23rd. One important thing to know about ALDI — stores typically just get one shipment of “ALDI Finds” items, and once they’re gone, they’re gone. So you’ll want to get there soon if you have your heart set on these. 4. Waiting in a long Disney World line when you don’t have to is a whole new level of pain. Line for Flight of Passage in Pandora There’s a little-known trick that allows solo guests to skip ahead on certain popular rides — and no, it has nothing to do with Lightning Lanes. We’re talking about rides that don’t even have an official Single Rider line, but still give solo guests a major advantage. If you’re flying solo or don’t mind splitting from your group, this tip could save you tons of time in the parks — and we’ve got all the details. Getting Pulled Ahead on Select Rides Okay, here’s the deal: even if a ride doesn’t have a Single Rider line, Cast Members sometimes need single riders to help fill in empty spots, especially on large-capacity attractions. If you’re by yourself (or tell them you’re willing to ride alone), you can often get pulled ahead of the main standby line to fill in those gaps. It’s not guaranteed every time, but it works more often than you’d think — especially on certain rides. Flight of Passage (Animal Kingdom) Let’s start with one of the biggest offenders when it comes to long wait times — Flight of Passage in Pandora. Flight of Passage This ride groups guests into pre-show rooms and then loads them into individual “link chairs.” The number of guests has to be just right for each ride cycle, and when the math doesn’t add up, Cast Members will look for a solo rider to balance it out. “And, uhh… FLY!” If you’re in the standby line by yourself, you’ve got a solid shot at being pulled forward. We’ve seen it happen so many times — enough that we’re confident calling this a real tip, not just a fluke. Soarin’ Around the World (EPCOT) Another great example: Soarin’ might not offer a single rider line, but it’s one of the most consistent places where Cast Members grab solos to fill seats. Soarin’ Around the World Each row on the ride system holds a set number of guests, and rather than leave an empty spot, Cast Members will ask if there’s a party of one waiting. If you’re a solo guest and you’re relatively close to the front, don’t be surprised if you’re asked to skip ahead and help fill a theater. Mission: SPACE (EPCOT) Mission: SPACE doesn’t offer a Single Rider line either, but since each ride pod seats four, it’s not uncommon for Cast Members to pluck solos from the line to complete a group. Mission Space It won’t happen every time, but it happens enough that if you’re alone, it’s worth standing out a bit so a Cast Member knows you’re available to fill a spot. Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run (Hollywood Studios) Full disclosure, this ride does have a single rider line, but we’ve seen Cast Members grab additional solo riders from the standby line, especially when they’re short on “pilots” or “engineers” to round out a crew. Smuggler’s Run If you’re willing to take any role and go it alone, let the Cast Member at the merge point know — there’s a good chance you’ll get bumped up. What You Can Do to Make This Work Here’s how to boost your chances of getting picked: Let the Cast Member at the front of the line know you’re a solo rider and happy to fill in if needed. Be ready to move fast if they call you forward. Don’t expect it, but definitely hope for it. Smuggler’s Run Queue And no, you don’t need to lie or sneak around. This isn’t a cheat or a hack — you’re just making yourself available when Cast Members are looking for someone to help operations run more smoothly. Is This Worth It If You’re With a Group? If you’re in a group but willing to split up, one of you might get pulled forward while the others wait it out. It’s a great strategy if you’ve already done the ride and just want to do it again without everyone waiting. That said, this works best for true solo guests. Most Cast Members are looking for exactly one person to plug into a gap — not two, not three. The Bottom Line This is one of those weird, unofficial Disney World tips that can genuinely save you time without needing to buy anything extra or plan six months in advance. It won’t work for every ride or every time, but if you’re traveling solo or okay riding alone, it’s absolutely worth a shot. Keep your eyes open, make yourself available, and you might just find yourself skipping the line on some of the most popular rides in the park. Stay tuned to DFB for more Disney World tips! 7. When it comes to dining at Disney World, you’ve got a TON of options. But how do you know you’re getting the best of what each menu has to offer, especially if a restaurant has recently seen changes to their menu offerings? Don’t worry, we’re happy to investigate for you to make sure you’re confident in your selections and what you’re spending to dine at Disney World. The BOATHOUSE in Disney Springs We recently stopped by The BOATHOUSE at Disney Springs to test out the best eats on their menu, and now we’re bringing you our FULL review. Is it worth a stop on your next trip? We hope you’ve come on an empty stomach because we’re about to find out now! Atmosphere The BOATHOUSE is one of the resident signature restaurants located at The Landing within Disney Springs. They’ve been a favorite of ours (and our readers like YOU) for years, and we’ve fallen in love with their wide array of steaks, chops, and seafood. The BOATHOUSE The BOATHOUSE offers seating for up to 600 hungry visitors (400 inside and 200 in outside seating alone), so there’s not a bad seat in the house. And we’re begging you not to pass on the chance to stroll around the dock and check out the beautiful vintage “dream boats” from the 30s, 40s, and 50s! The BOATHOUSE indoor seating Another highlight of this unique restaurant is the Amphicars. These unique vintage-style cars are some that can give you a one-of-a-kind experience here. They’re actually able to “drive” on water for a memorable experience you’ll be talking about for years to come afterwards (or kicking yourself for passing up the opportunity while you had it!) Advanced reservations are highly recommended for this experience, so we encourage you to make them as soon as possible for your best chance at riding. Amphicar But enough about the restaurant — what’s on the menu here?! Menu The menu here starts off with the Raw Bar offerings and starters… ©Disney …and then moves on to Dockside Classics like Dockside Shrimp Boil and various Sandwiches. ©Disney The rest of the menu is made of salads, fish… ©Disney …steaks, and surf & turf options. ©Disney There’s also shareable sides and several desserts to dig into in case you’re not already completely stuffed! ©Disney Don’t worry — they’ve not left the youngsters out, either! There’s a full kids ‘ menu offered here along with their own dessert offerings. ©Disney And here’s where the menu gets EXPANSIVE quickly! The BOATHOUSE has an impressive selection of Beer, Sangria, Ciders & Seltzer… ©Disney …Florida Craft Beers, Sparkling and White Wines, Red Wines and blends… ©Disney …as well as BOATHOUSE Signature Cocktails. ©Disney There are even dessert drinks after dinner… ©Disney …and then we dive into the long list of Whiskey and Bourbon selections… ©Disney …and Scotch. ©Disney And now, onto the main event — the food! Eats Right after we ordered, we were served some warm Parker House Rolls served with butter. It probably comes as no surprise that these were excellent. They’re soft, they’re fresh, and they pull apart so nicely. They were served with melted butter on top, with additional butter to spread on the roll. There wasn’t anything spectacular about the rolls or the butter, but hey, do rolls with butter need to be spectacular to be delicious? Parker House Rolls First up, we grabbed the Filet Mignon Sliders for $22.50. These are served as 3 Sliders with a side of Maître d’ Butter. Filet Mignon Sliders The sliders were cooked to a medium temperature, and they were perfectly pink and tender. This filet mignon just melts in your mouth. The addition of the butter was perfect — the sliders didn’t even need anything additional. The meat was delicious all on its own, but we appreciated the simplicity of these. If you’re someone who likes a lot of toppings, we think you should try giving these a shot — they’re SO flavorful on their own. STEAK! We also ordered the Dockside Shrimp Boil for $27.50. This meal consists of Corn on the Cob, Red Potatoes, Andouille Sausage, and BOATHOUSE Seasoning. Dockside Shrimp Boil We’ve had plenty of lackluster seafood boils in our day, and we’re happy to say that this was NOT the case here. It was SO flavorful. At first, the spices had kind of settled, but as soon as we gave everything a mix, the party got started again. The potatoes were soft and buttery without being mushy, and the corn retained some of its pop. The andouille sausage was smoky and had a bit of spice to it, and had a great snap. Even our reporter — who isn’t the biggest shrimp fan — enjoyed the shrimp. The spices were sweet, smoky, and had that Cajun kick you’d expect. SHRAMPS To round out our meal, we also opted to grab the Maine Style Lobster Roll for $36. This dish is made of Chilled Maine Lobster, Lemon-Chive Dressing, Buttered Toasted split-top bun served with Kettle Chips. Maine Style Lobster Roll Okay, y’all, the lobster roll is basically perfect. It’s not a buttered lobster roll, but instead is served with a lemon chive dressing that really complements the butteriness of the meat well. The lobster wasn’t overcooked; instead, it was nice and soft and fell apart easily. It’s served with a lemon wedge so you can squeeze that over it, and there’s also some lettuce and tomato for a bit of crunch and variety. The bun was soft and well-toasted with a bit of butter on it and paired really well with the rest of the sandwich. PLENTY of lobstah For dessert, we picked up the Caramel Apple Bread Pudding for $11. This comes with a butter pecan caramel sauce and vanilla ice cream. Caramel Apple Bread Pudding This was STELLAR. Imagine apple pie mixed with bread pudding, and you’ve got this — it’s excellent. We loved that the caramel sauce was on the side so that we could add as much as we wanted. The butter pecan sauce drizzled on top tasted like pralines, and we couldn’t get enough. It was buttery, cinnamon-y, and nutty. The bread pudding itself just melted in our mouths, and when it was paired with the ice cream, it was incredible. The bread itself wasn’t too mushy, and there were some caramelized bits that added a nice crunch. Delightful So, what’s the verdict? Nosh or Not This Disney World restaurant is a must-visit if… You’re looking for upscale, quality seafood that won’t disappoint. You want fun vibes and great theming without sacrificing taste. You’re at Disney Springs and want a break from the hustle and bustle. You should skip this Disney World spot if… You’re not a seafood fan. While there are other dishes here, seafood is their specialty! You want a quick bite to eat so you can continue enjoying Disney Springs. You want something a bit more unique. Overall We can’t recommend The BOATHOUSE enough — it’s truly one of our favorite restaurants in all of Disney World, and there are a lot of them. Whether you’re looking for fresh seafood, drinks at the bar, or just a place to relax during your busy Disney Springs day — consider making a reservation on your next visit! 8. The long-awaited Walt Disney animatronic has made its long-awaited debut at Disneyland, but our readers are still somewhat split on the latest addition to the “Happiest Place on Earth.” ©Disney In 2024, Disney announced that a brand-new Walt Disney animatronic show would be coming to Disneyland. Running in the park’s Opera House (it will eventually share the space with a refurbished Great Moments with Mr. Lincoln), the show is described by Disney as a “cinematic journey tracing Walt’s life from his early endeavors to the bright lights of Los Angeles and beyond. The experience culminates with a visit to Walt’s office. Here, encounter Walt like never before: watch as he shares heartfelt stories, anecdotes and words of wisdom through the magic of the Audio-Animatronics storytelling he helped pioneer.” Walt Disney – A Magical Life is accompanied by an exhibit with artifacts from San Francisco’s Walt Disney Family Museum. Reader Jon, expressed approval of the animatronic, linking it to Walt’s on actions. They wrote, “Walt made an animatronic of his hero, Abe Lincoln. Why wouldn’t Imagineers make an animatronic of their hero?” Reader Ashley chimed in, “Walt never wanted to be an animatronic, but he is so beloved I’m glad they are doing it. His voice should be in his parks.” However, other readers were more negative. Several readers brought up the Walt animatronic’s resemblance to the man, or lack thereof. Reader Kristy wrote, “I’m not sure if it’s controversial but I don’t think the animatronic looks like Walt. I feel like Walt was taller and leaner. However, I don’t think any of the animatronics in the Hall of Presidents look like the real Presidents either.” Walt Disney — A Magical Life Reader James was more blunt, writing, “For as long as it took, you’d think they could have made it actually look like Walt Disney.” Reader Ilze wrote, “I get why it could be controversial if they make the animatronic say/endorse things that Walt would never”, but they then added, “I have faith that Disney will uphold his legacy.” Walt Disney — A Magical Life In celebration of Disneyland’s 70th anniversary, the first-ever Walt Disney Animatronic has debuted at the park. However, some fans still aren’t quite sure what to think. Stay tuned to DFB for more on Disneyland’s milestone. 10. A woman is claiming she was permanently injured in Disney World. Typhoon Lagoon Just last month, a Disney World guest filed a lawsuit after getting injured at one of the park’s water parks, and now a similar lawsuit has been filed just over a month later. According to WFTV 9, a California woman is suing The Walt Disney Company for $50K after being injured at Typhoon Lagoon. The lawsuit claims that back in 2023, she was in the wave pool and was hit with a massive wave that knocked her into the bottom of the pool, leaving her with permanent injuries. Wave Pool She’s asking for $50,000 in damages. Wave Conditions Sign Now here’s the thing — the wave pool here is NO JOKE. These waves are often WAY stronger than people expect them to be, and that’s where issues like this come into play. This is especially true for kiddos, and we 100% recommend them having life jackets on when in the wave pool, as well as any adults who aren’t as strong of swimmers. Coca Cola Bottle These special containers are shaped like thermal detonators, a Star Wars-universe explosive that bears a resemblance to real-life explosives. When Galaxy’s Edge first opened, there was even talk that the Coke bottles would be banned from flights due to the TSA’s rule, which stated, “Replica or inert explosives aren’t allowed in either carry-on or checked bags.” Coke Price at Kiosks After some back and forth, the TSA eventually decided not to ban the bottles, instead saying they were allowed in both checked and carry-on bags as long as they were empty. While agents have gotten more used to the bottles in the intervening 7 years, they often still prompt issues going through security, with fliers often required to pull them out of their bags. Diet Coke Galaxy’s Edge Coke Bottles aren’t the only Disney souvenirs that could potentially cause issues. Some others include: Liquids: TSA rules say that containers of nonflammable liquids must be 3.4 ox or smaller be allowed in a carry-on. Meaning that any drinks, or cosmetics like those sold by Disney under the H20 brand or from Disney Springs stores like Basin in larger containers must be checked or left behind. Electronics: Most electronics are allowed in carry-ons; however, they need to be removed from the bag to pass through the X-Ray machine. The same goes for any electronic you purchase at Disney World, including things like Bluetooth speakers or the droids form Galaxy’s Edge. 12. We are always looking for ways to bring more Disney into our homes and regular lives when we can’t be in the parks. Bring Disney to your car! That’s why we absolutely have a mouse ears display rack sitting in our living rooms to show off our massive ear collection. We also have a park wait time sign sitting on our desk so we can pretend we’re just waiting for a ride in Disney World. And, yes, we’re watching Happily Ever After videos EVERY NIGHT before we go to bed to add a little extra magic to our day. However, we just found a NEW way to put a little more Disney in our lifes…by adding Disney ride dialogue to our cars — and we’re going to tell you how to do it. Well, now you can do that, too (and we’re already planning to use the Doom Buggy dialogue from Haunted Mansion for our own cars because HOW FUN). We’re going to give you a step-by-step guide (thanks to Motor1) on how to set up Apple CarPlay to play Disney sounds when you start your vehicle. Here’s how: Make sure your car has Apple CarPlay compatibility, and be sure to have an iPhone or other iOS device that you use when in your vehicle. Choose your custom start-up sound (the most common file formats for these files are MP4 or Mp3). You can either search for specific sounds or find tools that allow you to download tracks from YouTube or Spotify. You can also use tools to edit sound files. Once you have your sound ready, go to the Photos app on iPhone and trim it down to what you want, if necessary. Find a video-to-audio converter tool and upload that clipped track. Once that file has processed into either an MP3 or MP4, download it to your files app. Go to the Shortcuts application on iPhone. Hit automation > then the + sign on the top right. Hit “CarPlay.” This allows you to play this sound when Apple CarPlay connects. Make sure the “Connects” function is switched to “On.” Also, make sure the “Run Immediately” option is on, as well as the “Notify me when Ran.” If you choose “Run After Confirmation,” your phone will prompt you each time CarPlay starts the sound. Hit “Next,” and choose “New Blank Automation.” Pick the file you saved and want to play when Apple CarPlay starts. Scroll down to the “Files” app and select your audio clip. Once you’ve selected the file, you’ll see its URL under “When CarPlay connects.” Beneath the URL, tap the “Search Actions” bar and type in “Play sound.” This lays your sound whenever your car is started and your phone connects to your car. “And now, a carriage approaches to take you into the boundless realm of the supernatural. Take your loved ones by the hand, please, and kindly watch your step. “ Yes, it’s a lot of steps, but if you do it right, you’ll be able to bring a little Disney to every car trip you make, and isn’t that the BEST? You can also set a sound to play when CarPlay disconnects, which could be a fun way to add “Now I will raise the safety bar, and a ghost will follow you home!” right before you get out of your vehicle. 13. It’s an interesting summer in Disney World. There’s construction in 3 of 4 parks, and even more construction walls are on the way. Hollywood Studios However, the wildest thing that’s happened so far has got to be the flesh eating bacteria in Florida. Yes, you heard us right — there’s unfortunately been an uptick of flesh eating bacteria in the state this summer, but hey, there are other things to focus on too, like this cool offering in Hollywood Studios! Alright yes, let’s get the elephant in the room out of the way first — there IS flesh-eating bacteria in Florida, and it’s unfortunately caused four deaths so far in the state. It’s called Vibrio vulnificus and it’s been reported in Hillsborough Bay, Broward, and St. John Counties. The bacterium is most notably found in salt water and becomes an issue mostly during hurricane season when seawater makes its way inland. ©The News Press To avoid coming in contact with it, you’ll want to stay away from swimming or wading in floodwaters, as well as standing water, seawater, and brackish water. It can enter the body through open cuts and wounds, so you’ll also want to ensure any of yours are covered up with waterproof bandages, or don’t come in contact with the water. However, you can also ingest the bacteria by eating raw or undercooked seafood, so you may want to avoid that this summer as well. Chilled Seafood Trio But enough about that — do you remember that there’s a way you can have a DIFFERENT experience when riding Millennium Falcon: Smuggler’s Run in Hollywood Studios? The normal experience itself, narrated by Hondo Ohnaka, is great, don’t get us wrong, but there’s a way you can alter the experience and do something tons of Disney guests have no idea about. Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge What if we told you that you can have your whole experience in the ship narrated by Chewbacca instead of Hondo? It’s totally possible, but it’s tricky! It’s called Chewie mode, and the only way to make it happen is for all members in the ship (so all six people) to follow these instructions EXACTLY before hitting the red button to start the ride: Pilots: push their controls to the far left or right and far up or down, then push the red activation button Gunners: hit one of the white buttons on their console before hitting the red activation button Engineers: hit one of the white buttons on their console before hitting the red activation button Smuggler’s Run However, there’s another different experience you can have as well, but you have no control over this one — on some rides, right after you come out of lightspeed the second time, you may notice you get caught in an asteroid field before coming back in to land. You get tons of additional dialogue and a bit of a longer ride, and while we don’t know it for sure, our assumption is that this happens when someone in a different ride vehicle needs more time exiting or entering. Hollywood Studios Can you imagine being in Chewie mode and hearing this happen? How cool would that be? Now, here’s the thing — sometimes you can make Chewie mode happen if you have fewer than six people, but you will need a Cast Member’s help, and sometimes it’s not always possible. Ask politely, and if it’s not possible, don’t argue! We know, it may be a bit of a bummer, but it just means you can try again next time. 14. Here at DFB, we specialize in Disney World snacks! S’mores Popcorn It’s quite literally our job to eat around the theme parks, which means we spend quite a bit of time in restaurants and in line for snack stands. We notice which snacks are popular and which kind of people are ordering those treats! So today, we present to you — the most popular Magic Kingdom snacks for each generation. Boomers — classics like popcorn & mickey bars; Gen X — corn dog nuggets; Millennials — spring rolls; Gen Z — dole whip or anything viral Boomers Starting out this list with the Baby Boomers, our team has decided that they’re prone to eating the classics! They love a traditional theme park snack, especially if it’s something Disney does well — popcorn, Mickey Premium Ice Cream Bars, churros, and the like. Disney World souvenir popcorn bucket You’ll often find the Boomers waiting in line at the snack stands and rolling carts around the park, and they’re jumping at the opportunity to buy their grandkids a Mickey-shaped ice cream. You can’t hate on the classics! Gen X For Gen X, things start to get a little more nontraditional. The Gen X members of our team thought their generation was best represented by the Corn Dog Nuggets you can find at both Casey’s Corner and Westward Ho. Corn Dog Nuggets! If you get them at Casey’s Corner, we recommend paying the extra $1 to get plastic cheese as a dipping sauce, but if you’re at Westward Ho, you can head inside Pecos Bill and get queso as your dip! Corn Dog Nugs are a DFB fave, so we definitely approve of this message. Millennials For the Millennials, it’s all about the spring roll cart! This cart is located next to the Adventureland main entrance, and it’s home to some fun flavored spring rolls — the most popular flavors (and the current ones) are cheeseburger and pepperoni pizza. Adventureland Spring Roll cart The spring rolls come with corresponding dipping sauces, and though they’re a bit on the pricey end, they’re savory, crispy, and oh so delicious. Man, my mouth is watering just thinking about them! Gen Z And finally, we have Gen Z, the youngins! They’re all about the latest and greatest treats, so they’re apt to get whatever is viral on TikTok or Instagram at the moment. Whether that’s the unique menu items at Gaston’s Tavern or the customizable popcorn at the Main Street Confectionery, they’re ON TREND. Snickers Popcorn Mix However, we couldn’t settle on just the one option for Gen Z. This generation is known for a high rise in vegan diets, and one of the best vegan snacks to get in Magic Kingdom is Dole Whip! So it’s no surprise that we often see teens and 20s standing in line at Aloha Isle. Dole Whip from Aloha Isle at Disney World No matter which snacks you choose when you go to Disney World, you can have an absolutely delicious day if you follow our recommendations! 15. Disney trips are full of endless possibilities…including moments we’d rather forget. Magic Kingdom Disney Adults have seen it all — the good AND the bad. While a trip to the Disney Parks is packed with magic, it can also feature some awkward and uncomfortable moments, as well. Unfortunately, you can have some pretty good intentions or follow typically sound advice and still wind up in a tough situation. From personal experience to chatting with other Disney Adults, we’ve come up with at least 3 times we made plans at the Disney Parks, only to have them blow up in our faces in truly awkward fashion. ©Disney While the Disney Parks are moving away from the virtual queue system, it still exists in a limited capacity. Back when Disneyland’s Rise of the Resistance attraction used it, one of our team members was burned by it, despite using it as intended. Rise of the Resistance When our team member visited the resort back in 2021 for their honeymoon, they were having dinner at Carthay Circle — one of the best and most prestigious restaurants at Disney California Adventure and all of the Disneyland Resort — when it was time for their Rise of the Resistance virtual queue. In order to make the window, they skipped dessert and hustled over to Disneyland. They got on the Disneyland Railroad and made it in time for their reservation. HOWEVER, they were met with the unfortunate news that the ride had gone down two minutes earlier. OOF. They did everything they were supposed to and sacrificed a delicious dessert in the process — and it was all for naught. Rise of the Resistance Another time a decision backfired — and this one happens ALL THE TIME — is rope-dropping without considering the consequences. Hollywood Studios at rope drop To rope drop, you’ll arrive at a park early and then enter each land slowly — a rope literally keeps you back and lifts when it’s time to move forward. This process lets you be one of the first guests of the day to experience a ride. By most accounts, this is a great way to avoid the long lines that form later in the day. But it comes with sacrifices. Main Street, U.S.A. For starters, you’re up EARLY and starting your day with some serious activity. You have to make your way to the park of your choice, then battle crowds who are just as eager as you to avoid the long lines. It can be a madhouse and require a ton of energy well before noon. Rope Drop And that’s the thing — you can run out of energy too fast. Maybe you wanted to see the fireworks later at night or do dinner in the park. That all becomes incredibly difficult when you find yourself crashing out way before you anticipated. We’ve had experiences where we started our day so early and spent so much energy at rope drop that we found ourselves ready to tap out around lunch. You may feel like rope dropping a park is smart, but if you aren’t prepared to catch a second wind, you might want to reconsider. Rope Drop crowds! Another moment where doing something logical backfired that might actually be an awkward blessing is needlessly buying Lightning Lane Multi Pass. Slinky Dog Dash Lightning Lane Lightning Lane Multi Pass allows you to bypass the standby lines in favor of a usually faster line — for an added fee. This paid service is almost always worth it, as it will surely allow you to spend more of your day riding attractions instead of waiting in queues. However, there have been rare occasions where we’ve bought Lightning Lane Multi Pass and not used it enough to justify the cost. Rise of the Resistance Lightning Lane Sometimes the parks just aren’t that crowded, or rides that use Lightning Lanes aren’t up and running. Either way, Lightning Lanes become a bit useless, and you won’t really have a good bead on the situation unless you bought the Pass day-of — which isn’t recommended since you can buy them and make ride reservations in advance. If you wait, you may miss out. When a wait time is in the 5 to 10 minute range, Lightning Lanes definitely aren’t a necessity. However, it’s worth noting that you can still use your Lightning Lane Multi Pass and ride an attraction with a short wait. In fact, it’s a great way to ride multiple times throughout a day! Lightning Lane entrance at Disneyland’s Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railway This ticket add-on won’t break the bank, but the cost adds up if you’re paying for multiple people. When you hardly use it but you’ve bought several, the reality is less awkward and more frustrating. 18. Been toying around with the idea of becoming a Disney Vacation Club member? We’ve been there. ©Disney DVC is essentially Disney’s timeshare program, in a way — it allows members the opportunity to lock in their “future vacations at today’s purchase price.” Unlike a traditional timeshare program, members are not “locked in” to a particular Disney destination, Resort, style of accommodation, season of travel, or length of stay. Instead, Members utilize a Vacation Points system, which offers more flexibility. If you’ve been thinking of becoming a member, but haven’t totally been sold, you’ll want to check out this NEW deal that just landed online! Disney just announced a new deal where Disney Visa Cardmembers who sign up for a DVC membership with their home resort being The Cabins at Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort can save $10,000 on their membership! ©Disney How exactly does this breakdown? Well, you’ll save $8,500 on the membership itself, and then save an additional $1,500 for being a Disney Visa Cardmember, totaling savings of $10,000. Fort Wilderness This offer expires on September 29th, 2025, so you’ll want to act fast if it’s been on your mind! You do have to take part in the “tour” for DVC, either in person or over the phone, and in order to qualify for the deal, you’ve got to buy an ownership interest with at least 250 Vacation Points in The Cabins at Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort. Typically, all together, a deeded ownership interest in a Disney Vacation Club Resort is priced at $24,500 to $61,250, but that is subject to change and does not include these savings. Welcome to Fort Wilderness If you want to take advantage of this deal or learn more, you’ll want to call 1-888-257-3272. Looking for more recent DVC news? Check out our posts below! 19. There is a lot happening at Disney World right now, and we don’t want you to be caught off guard by closures! Magic Kingdom A Magic Kingdom attraction is closing this week. While it is only for a short time, we don’t want you to be surprised if you were hoping to ride it! Under the Sea – Journey of the Little Mermaid will be temporarily closed this week. The good news is that it is a super short closure, but it could be bad news if you are only at Disney World for a few days. Under the Sea – Journey of the Little Mermaid will be closed from July 21st through July 25th. You will be able to ride the attraction again on July 26th! Make sure you plan accordingly if you are in Disney World this week! Under the Sea – Journey of the Little Mermaid Let’s take a look at what other attractions and locations will be closed this week, July 19th through July 26th, at Disney World! Magic Kingdom Liberty Square Riverboat and Tom Sawyer Island An iconic part of the Magic Kingdom is now permanently closed. As of July 7th, the Rivers of America, including the Liberty Square River Boat and Tom Sawyer Island, are closed for good to make way for the new Cars area, Piston Peak National Park. There are some construction walls up in the area now, and we have seen workers on Tom Sawyer Island. Rivers of America Piston Peak National Park will be replacing this area of Magic Kingdom, and construction is expected to begin in the area this year. Disney has not yet released an opening date for the new Cars area, but we do know that it will feature two brand-new attractions and be themed to look like a National Park. SURPRISE! A Popular Magic Kingdom Attraction Has Finally Reopened Following a 5-Month Closure! Big Thunder Mountain Railroad On January 6th, Big Thunder Mountain Railroad closed for an extended temporary closure. Big Thunder Mountain Railroad The “Wildest Ride in the Wilderness” will be closed for at least a year and will reopen sometime in 2026. The ride will be undergoing maintenance while it is closed. When it reopens, it will have some “new magic,” according to Disney. We can’t wait to see what changes will be coming to this ever-popular roller coaster! We recently spotted some ride testing happening, which was very exciting, and a train car has arrived! It was still covered in a tarp, but it was exciting to see. Tortuga Tavern Just like Tomorrowland Terrace, Tortuga Tavern is a seasonal restaurant in Magic Kingdom. It has been a bit since we saw it open. Most recently, it was used as a cookie location for Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party. Tortuga Tavern We had previously spotted shrubs around the restaurant as they worked on the flooring. However, all the shrubs have been taken down now. We don’t know exactly when/if this restaurant will reopen, but we will keep you updated if we learn more! “This Is Not a Party, This Is a Journey” — Why Magic Kingdom’s NEW Parade Is Unlike Anything You’ve Ever Seen Before EPCOT Test Track Test Track closed on June 17th, 2024, and Disney gave this ride a BIG makeover! This attraction will be officially reopening on July 22nd, 2025! Test Track The newly updated Test Track features a brand-new queue and lots of new scenes on the ride itself. The track still features the same movements (although the ride vehicles did get an upgrade!), but the new scenes make the ride feel fresh and different. 8 HUGE Changes at the NEW Test Track 3.0 in Disney World Disney’s Animal Kingdom It’s Tough to Be a Bug It’s Tough to Be a Bug is officially closed for good. This attraction in Disney’s Animal Kingdom once invited you to join the bug kingdom on an adventure. While the show didn’t usually make it to the top of favorite attractions in Disney World, it has now officially closed to make way for a new show. It’s Tough to Be a Bug is closed! It’s Tough to Be a Bug closed on March 17th. The show is permanently closed to make way for a brand-new show, “Zootopia: Better Zoogether!”, expected to debut in winter 2025. TriceraTop Spin, Chester & Hester’s Dinosaur Treasures, and Fossil Fun Games The first round of closures began in DinoLand U.S.A. on January 13th, 2025. TriceraTop Spin, Chester & Hester’s Dinosaur Treasures, and Fossil Fun Game were closed down, and construction has begun on the brand-new land themed to the Tropical Americas, Pueblo Esperanza. The walls have been up since the closure, and things have been disappearing from behind the walls. Almost everything has been taken down behind the walls, including the large green dinosaur. DinoLand Construction It is definitely a sad sight, but we are also excited to see Pueblo Esperanza! DINOSAUR, Restaurantosaurus, the snack stands, and The Boneyard remain open. The Boneyard will be closing for good on September 2nd, 2025. Disney hasn’t announced an official closing date for the rest of DinoLand. However, they have announced that “2025 is your year to visit before it goes extinct!” NEW Aerial Photos Give Us a Glimpse Into Construction Progress at Animal Kingdom Disney’s Hollywood Studios Muppets Courtyard including Muppet*Vision 3D, PizzeRizzo, and Mama Melrose’s Ristorante Italiano Muppet*Vision 3D AND PizzeRizzo closed on June 8th, and Muppets Courtyard has been walled off so construction can begin on the new Monsters, Inc. land. Mama Melrose’s Ristorante Italiano has been closed since May 11th. Construction Walls up in Disney’s Hollywood Studios Don’t worry, the Muppets won’t be missing from Disney’s Hollywood Studios forever. The Muppets will eventually be taking over Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster in 2026. Something NEW Has Popped Up in Disney’s Hollywood Studios! 23. We have recently talked about an increase in cases of Vibrio vulnificus, a flesh-eating bacterium, in Florida. At the end of December 2024, 83 cases of Vibrio vulnificus were confirmed, up from 46 the previous year. Lookout Cay This increase was due to an active hurricane season in 2024, and although this hurricane season has been fairly quiet so far, the flesh-eating bacteria are back. According to WESH, the bacterium has recently caused the deaths of four people in the state. Cases of Vibrio vulnificus have been reported in Hillsborough Bay, Broward, and St. John Counties in the state, according to the Florida Department of Health. The reports did not specify where the cases were contracted, but the bacterium is most notably found in salt water, particularly during hurricane season when salt water is directed more inland. Dr. Daniel Egan, an infectious disease specialist at Orlando Health said, “There’s a lot of bacteria that just live in different areas, even in, like, waterborne spots. So there’s fresh water, salt water, and this bacteria called Vibrio vulnificus likes salt water.” ©The News Press Vibrio vulnificus causes illness when it’s ingested (such as in raw or undercooked seafood) or when open wounds are exposed to water contaminated with the bacteria. If you’re traveling to Florida, you’ll want to avoid swimming or wading in floodwaters, as well as standing water, seawater, and brackish water. You’ll also want to cover open cuts or wounds with waterproof bandages. As the bacteria can also be found in raw shellfish like oysters, you’ll want to rethink what you eat during the summer. Cinderella Castle It moves very fast, so it’s important to understand the symptoms, which include a sudden redness that begins spreading very quickly over a day to a few hours. If you notice something like that, head to the emergency room ASAP. Although death is rare, it still does happen, so getting care as soon as symptoms appear is vital. In 2024, the health department reported 82 cases and 19 deaths from Vibrio vulnificus. Stay tuned to DFB for more. Join the DFB Newsletter to get all the breaking news right in your inbox! 24. If you’ve ever flown from any airport, even if you were flying to Disney World, you’re probably very familiar with all the procedures and rules you need to know about to get through the TSA security checkpoints at the airport. TSA lines at MCO Those procedures, though, are starting to change. For example, for a long time, you’ve had to take your shoes off when you go through security, but that rule recently changed, and you can now leave your shoes on. Another TSA security checkpoint rule involves liquids: you can currently only carry 3.4 oz. of any liquid, and all those containers have to fit into a quart-sized bag. However, according to ABC 7, those rules regarding liquids might also soon be changing. The limits on liquids were first introduced in 2006. Before that, you could bring full water bottles, tubes of toothpaste, and any other kind of liquid in your carry-on bag. Now, we’re all used to pulling out our little baggie full of small bottles, crammed as full as we can get them. MCO Airport Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem recently suggested that this rule could change in the near future. At a conference, she said, “The liquids, I’m questioning. So that may be the next big announcement, is what size your liquids need to be.” As to what that means, though, is anyone’s guess, although it suggests that the size of bottles of liquids might be upgraded to something larger than the 3.4 oz. bottles we currently have to use. It could even mean we can have multiple baggies with small bottles. MCO airport So why the new changes? Well, security technology has improved a lot over the past decade, so detecting anything that could be dangerous might just be a lot easier now without making fliers jump through extra hoops. The changes in rules could also speed up the process of getting people through security (and make it faster for fliers, too). If the rules do change, fliers would need to understand that the rules only apply in the U.S. and not in other countries. So, some additional research might come in handy to see what other airports require at security checkpoints. We’ll just have to see how it all plays out. Until then, stay tuned to DFB for more.
