When Disney drops news on us that we weren’t expecting, there are some interesting reactions from fans. Hollywood Studios The Animation Courtyard in Hollywood Studios is undergoing a makeover and introducing The Magic of Disney Animation, where guests will experience Disney animation in new and exciting ways. What do the true Disney fans think about this? Let’s take a look! When we shared the news on Instagram, fans didn’t hold back! ©Disney For this new offering to come to Hollywood Studios, Star Wars: Launch Bay will be replaced. Many were concerned about the movie props and character meet-and-greets in the space, as well as where they would be moving to. Star Wars Launch Bay Others were upset about another area going under construction in the parks, especially in Hollywood Studios. “Another place closing for refurbishment, how many more? Too many changes at the same time.” ©Disney Right now, Muppets Courtyard is closed as it transforms into Monstropolis, the Monsters, Inc. themed land. This closed two restaurants and one attraction. Many commented on wait time concerns, especially in a park that doesn’t have too many attractions. We’ll be keeping an eye on the wait times to see how they are affected once everything closes. Monsters, Inc. Concept Art — Posted June 2025 in Hollywood Studios Some think the whole area isn’t very creative and “the lack of imagination in imagineering is astonishing.” These changes incorporate original Hollywood Studios (or MGM Studios) concepts, as well as building designs straight from Burbank or Disney California Adventure. One person said, “Pass. Not thanks. Do something good and exciting.” ©Disney Fans also pointed out that the archway isn’t in any of the concept art. Commenters were upset about losing another element of Hollywood Studios that has been there since day one. The iconic arch! And believe it or not, there were tons of positive comments! When Disney releases news, fans are quick to share their opinions, and that usually means negative ideas. Still, there were tons of overwhelmingly positive comments, including “love that this area is getting some extra magic.” ©Disney Another said, “Disney is soooo on the right track!” Now you tell us: what do you think about The Magic of Disney Animation? If you’ve ever tried to pack a hat in a carry-on, you know the struggle. I’m pretty insistent about wearing hats in the sun (shade that face!) but finding one that’s both cute and packable is harder than it should be. Trust me when I tell you you can literally wad this hat up in a suitcase! This summer, I took a chance on a $15 find from Walmart. And let me tell you—I’ve put this little hat through it. DISCLOSURE: This post may contain affiliate links, meaning when you click the links and make a purchase, we receive a commission. I travel almost full-time for my job. That means I pack, and re-pack, a lot — so I have pretty specific requirements for my travel wardrobe. I need things to be neutral so I can mix and match clothes. I need my clothes to be washable so I can do hotel sink laundry when I need to, and I need them to be able to be tumble dried so that when I need to empty my suitcase, wash the clothes and immediately re-pack them. I can. What can I say? It comes up more than I ever thought it would. That said, I dont go on a trip without bringing a hat. When I tell you this $15 hat has been stuffed in my suitcase, rolled up between sandals and charging cords, and wedged between packing cubes… I am not even exaggerating. And every single time, it has bounced right back. Yep, this little Walmart hat has crossed OCEANS with me. The secret? It’s a soft knit style that holds its shape surprisingly well. No creasing, no floppy weirdness, no ironing required. I’ve worn it across multiple trips this summer, and it’s become a staple. The brim is wide enough to give real sun protection without veering into “oversized beach hat” territory, which makes it perfect for city walking, beach time, and casual sightseeing. I bought it in brown, but this hat also comes in black and white. Now I have bought “packable” hats before that were woven out of paper, and I’ve still ended up with a creased brim or an odd dent — but that’s not the case with the knit fabric this one is made out of. And while I have yet to be caught in a downpour with it, fortunately, this hat seems like it would dry very quickly if I did get it wet. I own the brown version, but this panama hat is also available at Walmart in black and white — so you can go with the neutral that suits you best! VIEW ON WALMART.COM Why I Love This Hat Actually Packable: Rolls up in your suitcase and pops back into shape with no creases or crushed brim drama. Face-Shading Without the Flop: Wide enough to offer legit sun protection, but not so wide it blocks your vision or screams “beach only.” Lightweight & Breathable: The knit material is soft and airy, even in hot weather. Style-Ready: Looks cute as-is, but I also change it up by tying a scarf around it. Budget-Friendly: Have I mentioned this hat is JUST $15! Travel-Tested: Survived multiple summer trips in carry-on bags. At just $15, this one gets a solid recommend from me — especially if you’re a #carryoncrewforever traveler! A Colombian tourist’s trip to Walt Disney World turned into a trip to jail after she was arrested Monday for allegedly pushing a teenager while trying to get a better view of a parade. Martha Lucia Zapata Echeverrí, 51, was taken into custody on a charge of child abuse after the incident earlier that day at Disney’s Magic Kingdom theme park, according to records. Her attorney, Bryan Farinas, said via email she was in the U.S. on a tourist visa and was visiting for her daughter’s 15th birthday. Orange County Sheriff’s deputies separated Zapata Echeverrí and the victim and brought them to the park’s security office, where a deputy spoke to both about what happened, her arrest affidavit shows. The 17-year-old victim told the deputy she had been standing on the sidewalk at the park’s Main Street to watch a parade when Zapata Echeverrí put her hand on her “trying to make space,” causing her to ask the woman not to touch her in Spanish. She said when she moved back to help another park guest get past her, Zapata Echeverrí grabbed her by the arm and pulled her to the side, the affidavit said. The affidavit notes the victim had a small scrape and bruise on her arm and that she was the only one injured of the two. It also notes there were no independent witnesses or security footage of the incident. Zapata Echeverrí said she was following her daughter to try and get to the front of the crowd to watch the parade when the victim pushed into her, saying it was “her spot.” Zapata Echeverrí then demonstrated to the deputy how she pushed the victim back, the report said. When asked how the victim got nail marks, Zapata Echeverrí’s answer was unclear and she made a pushing gesture with an open hand, according to the affidavit. Zapata Echeverrí has pleaded not guilty. Farinas says she has posted bond and is in the process of being released. He also said the situation has been mischaracterized. “Based on the information that we have reviewed, Ms. Zapata Echeverrí was confronted and physically pushed by the alleged victim,” he said. “We are confident that once all the facts have been fully evaluated, it will be clear that there was no criminal intent and no abusive conduct by Ms. Zapata Echeverrí.” Zapata Echeverrí has no prior criminal history and has been cooperative with law enforcement, Farinas said. One of our favorite signature dining restaurants in Disney World just got a HUGE menu update! We’ve been singing the praises of Tiffins Restaurant for years and it’s the kind of restaurant at Disney World that leaves a lasting impression — in a good way. While we’ve enjoyed their menu items including their delicious Bread Service for years, they’ve recently made some changes to the menu that we decided needed investigating ASAP! Tiffins We recently stopped by Tiffins Restaurant at Disney’s Animal Kingdom to try out their newest menu items, and now we’re bringing you our FULL review. Is it worth a stop on your next trip to the Most Magical Place on Earth? Find out here! Atmosphere Tiffins Restaurant brings signature dining to Disney World’s wildest park. It marries together a celebration of travel between the theming, the menu, and atmosphere reflecting the locales that inspired the park itself. It’s gorgeous in here! The walls are lined with beautiful artwork found within each of the three dining rooms. When you stop by for a visit, your server will encourage you to make your way around each of the dining rooms to explore and enjoy the displays, the same way you would experience an art gallery. Don’t forget to explore! But enough about the restaurant — what’s on the menu here?! Menu There’s a fairly extensive menu offered here for lunch and dinner. You’ll start with a few appetizer options (which is what we were most interested in due to the changes)… ©Disney …then move on to main entrees. ©Disney There are also a few enhancements and desserts offered here, too! ©Disney Don’t worry — there’s plenty of options here for kids to enjoy… ©Disney …as well as a specialty drink! ©Disney For drinks, there are a few non-alcoholic beverages as well as cocktails! ©Disney If you’re looking for hot coffee cocktails, beers… ©Disney …teas… ©Disney …and wines by the glass, they’ve got those as well. ©Disney And now, onto the main event — the food! Eats To start, we had to grab the Bread Service for $18! This includes Thai Red Curry Milk Bread, Pão de Queijo, Papadam, Coconut-Curry Sauce, Guava Sauce, Ginger-Pear Chutney. Bread Service The Pão de Queijo was our favorite, which is almost always the case for everyone who tries it, but we also loved the Papadam. The Thai Red Curry Milk Bread was fantastic with the Ginger-Pear Chutney, but it is a LOT of ginger, so we don’t recommend putting much on. Yum! The spices, the crunch of the bread, and the overall flavors here are fantastic. We recommend it time and time again! So delicious! Then we grabbed the Seared Yellowfin Tuna with Pork and Shrimp Dumpling for $19.This is served with Rice Masago-crusted Tuna, and Gochujang Sweet Chili Sauce. Seared Yellowfin Tuna with Pork and Shrimp Dumpling Our only complaint here is that it’s an appetizer and not an entree, because it was incredible! The sweet chili spices partner perfectly with the yellowfin tuna, and the dumpling itself is an incredible texture. The textures here are all brilliant, and we overall can’t say enough wonderful things about it — PLEASE give it a try! Incredible! Next up was the Passion Fruit Hamachi Crudo, which will set you back $21. This dish is made with Passion Fruit and Sesame Leche de Tigre, Pickled Pineapple, Cilantro Oil, Szechuan Chili Crunch. Passion Fruit Hamachi Crudo The pineapple and passionfruit flavors here are very prominent, very in your face, so if you’re not a fan of those flavors or cilantro, this will NOT be the dish for you. The fish flavor is there as well, but it definitely takes a backseat. Honestly, it was like drinking your own personal sauce of pineapple, passionfruit, lime, and cilantro, which sounds rough, but we didn’t mind it since our reporter loves sour things. Overall, it’s pretty adventurous, but if you’re open to these flavors, it’s worth a try. It’s unique! To round us out, we also ordered the Coconut-Ube Cauliflower Soup for $14. It’s made of Miso Caramel, Roasted Cauliflower and Mushroom, Fried Garlic. Coconut-Ube Cauliflower Soup This was INCREDIBLE, we could eat literally every drop of it and have no complaints. It’s thick, sweet, and you can definitely taste that roasted miso caramel and garlic flavor coming through, and it almost reminds us of teriyaki in the best way. Again, this is a more adventurous option, but we absolutely recommend! Nosh or Not This Disney World restaurant is a must-visit if… You’re an adventurous eater You want a great, quality sit-down meal You’re spending the whole day in Animal Kingdom You should skip this Disney World spot if… You’re a picky eater, or have picky eaters in your group You’re in a rush and prefer quick service meals You’re not in Animal Kingdom and don’t plan on park hopping Overall Tiffins never fails to let us down, and we love pretty much every meal we have here. If you’re a pickier eater or don’t want to be adventurous with your eats, we don’t necessarily recommend it, but otherwise, it’s a must-visit in our eyes! Full Spread! In the meantime, we’ll be on the lookout for more restaurant updates from Disney World and beyond. Make sure you stay tuned to the Disney Food Blog for the latest Disney news and more! Sometimes you just want to escape from it all, and a vacation doesn’t feel far enough away. A social media break? Not cutting it. What you really want is to get off of planet Earth altogether. And what if you could? What if we could live…on the moon? ©NASA Well, with NASA’s latest ambitions, long-term residence on the moon could be possible. They’ve got a multi-step process all figured out, and while the end goal is for scientific advancement and not just leisure, it could be a massive step towards some even greater accomplishments. NASA announced on Instagram that it’s working with international and commercial partners to return to the moon and establish a long-term presence there. This would be the first setup of its kind, allowing people to actually LIVE on the moon. ©NASA Astronauts Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin first set foot on the moon 56 years ago, and since then, there have been a number of short-term visits, but no humans have stayed on its surface for very long. And while there has been a long-term human presence in space, thanks to the International Space Station (which has been continuously occupied since 2000), NASA is setting its sights higher — and further into the void. ©NASA NASA believes that a long-term presence on the moon’s surface is the first step to discovering more about Earth’s next-door neighbor, Mars. The organization aims to have crewed missions to Mars in the future, noting, “Mars is a rich destination for scientific discovery and a driver of technologies that will enable humans to travel and explore far from Earth.” NASA has said that learning more about Mars will help explain more of Earth’s past and future, as well as allow us to see whether life exists beyond our planet. At any given point in time, Mars is somewhere from 33 million to 249 million miles from Earth. When astronauts take the first mission to Mars and back, they’ll return with more than one billion miles on their odometer — more than a thousand times the distance that Artemis I traveled. One of the current project flight plans involves an 850-day journey for a mission opportunity in 2039. ©NASA With these lofty goals in mind, NASA will need more manpower down the road. Space Coast Daily announced that the University of Central Florida (known for being a top supplier of graduates to the aerospace industry) will be launching a new space MBA program in Spring 2026. “We have world-class researchers, direct connections to the space industry and the very best location,” says Greg Autry, associate provost for space commercialization and strategy at UCF. The Artemis Missions (what NASA has dubbed its plan to establish a long-term presence on the moon) are a major next step for the aerospace field. “We’re going back to the Moon for scientific discovery, economic benefits, and inspiration for a new generation of explorers: the Artemis Generation. While maintaining American leadership in exploration, we will build a global alliance and explore deep space for the benefit of all,” says NASA. The Artemis Generation will include missions around the moon, followed by the first journey to the lunar south pole. The major goal is to build the first lunar space station, which will be a foundation for long-term exploration. ©NASA So for those with ambitions of exploring the Final Frontier, we’ve got a long road ahead of us. We’ll be interested to watch the next steps from NASA as the journey unfolds. At first glance, there’s not much space in the Magic Kingdom that isn’t being used for something, especially with the recent closures of the Rivers of America and Tom Sawyer Island to make room for Piston Peak. Piston Peak ©Disney However, upon closer inspection of the park’s map, there are some areas that are woefully underutilized! Stitch’s Great Escape The show building at the front of Tomorrowland that once held Stitch’s Great Escape has actually been home to three different attractions over the years. Mission to Mars, a clone of the Disneyland original, opened in the Tomorrowland space in December of 1971 and operated until October 1993. It was replaced by the beloved by many (and reviled by others) EtraTERRORestial Alien Encounter from 1995 until 2003. The attraction was retooled into Stitch’s Great Escape in 2004, and remained in operation for the most part until 2018. The space has remained vacant, short of some limited meet & greets, leaving a huge piece of real estate at the front of Tomorrowland vacant. ©Disney Stitch’s Great Escape Monsters, Inc. Laugh Floor Just across from the former Stitch’s Great Escape sits Monsters, Inc. Laugh Floor. This attraction, housed in the building that once held the CircleVision theater and Timekeeper shows, isn’t technically abandoned, but its minuscule wait times may make you do a double-take to make sure. Monster’s Inc. Laugh Floor As if those wait times aren’t enough, Disney is currently constructing a massive Monsters, Inc. land in Hollywood Studios, which will make the Laugh Floor superfluous. Much like Stitch’s Great Escape, it feels like this massive piece of Tomorrowland real estate could be used for more. ©Disney Mickey’s PhilharMagic While this may sound like blasphemy to 90s kids, this 3D film featuring Donald Duck flitting through Disney Renaissance films, including The Little Mermaid, Beauty and The Beast, The Lion King, and Aladdin, as well as Peter Pan, and later addition Coco is showing its age. Given the dearth of available space in Fantasyland, this space could arguably be much better utilized. PhilharMagic Fairytale Garden Finally, there’s the Fairytale Garden area near the castle. This spot, which has hosted several different character experiences over the years, is currently home to a meet & greet with Mirabel from Encanto. While the footprint here isn’t large by any means, it definitely feels like it could be used for something more. Mirabel in Magic Kingdom The Magic Kingdom may initially appear like it has no further room to grow, but these abandoned areas in need of new life are hiding in plain sight. Disney Starlight has officially debuted in Magic Kingdom, and we couldn’t be more excited that there’s finally a nighttime parade back in Disney World! Disney Starlight There are two parades each night (unless there’s a special event happening that night, such as Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party), one at 9 PM and the other at 11 PM, with the Happily Ever After fireworks happening in between at 10 PM. So which parade should you see? Now that we’ve seen the parade a few times AND seen the crowds it’s attracting, here’s what we’ve found. 9 PM Parade The 9 PM parade is going to be most ideal for those who want to see the Happily Ever After fireworks as well. If you’ve gotten a great spot for the parade on Main Street, you can stay in that same spot for the next 45 minutes and hang out until the fireworks! Disney Starlight However, 9 PM is already pretty late, especially if you’ve been in the parks since rope drop. Therefore, if you’ve got kids with you, or you yourself need your sleep and know you’ll be exhausted after a full day in the parks, the 9 PM parade is totally for you. Now, this does mean that you’ll be facing higher crowds for these exact same reasons. We’ve learned the hard way though that if you force yourself (or your family) to stay up later than they’re prepared to and start pushing into tantrum territory (again, for kids AND adults, adults totally have tantrums too) by sticking around for the 11 PM parade, no one is going to be having a good time. It’s Bruno! Grab yourself a spot early (at LEAST one hour before showtime) and get ready to hang out for the parade (and fireworks if you’re sticking around). Pro tip: the closer you are to the front of the park (where the parade starts), the closer you’ll be to the exit, and you can miss the mass exodus of people exiting the park right after, and therefore get back to your hotel quicker! 11 PM Parade With that all being said, the 11 PM parade is going to be fantastic for those who don’t mind staying up late! Whether that’s because they didn’t rope drop and instead slept in, they went back to their hotel and rested during the middle of the day, or maybe late nights just don’t bother them, the 11 PM parade will be a great choice. Disney Starlight — Princess Float This is also the parade to go to if you, or someone in your group, doesn’t do well with crowds. When we tell you the amount of people we’ve seen for this parade has been EGREGIOUS, we’re not kidding. It’s intense, and if you know being in a big crowd causes anxiety, or just puts a bad taste in your mouth, then the 11 PM parade will be a much better fit. Check out those crowds! Since this parade will be less crowded, it also means you’ll likely have an easier time grabbing one of those iconic spots: near the Main Street Train Station (or on its second level, if it’s open), close to the Tony’s Town Square Theater, or in the Hub. However, if you’re looking to face the least amount of crowds at either parade, you’ll want to head to Frontierland, right towards the end of the parade route. Walt Disney World isn’t the same place it was last summer. Walt Disney World entrance You might be thinking you’ve got your August trip under control — park reservations are made, dining plans are mapped out, and your must-do rides are on the list. But there are some recent changes that could throw a serious wrench into your plans if you’re not paying attention. Here’s what’s already closed, what’s closing soon, and what you’ll want to rework in your schedule before you get hit with some surprise Disney curveballs. Planning a Magic Kingdom Day Around the Wrong Attractions If you’re headed to Magic Kingdom and planning to escape the crowds by hopping on the Liberty Square Riverboat or taking a quiet break on Tom Sawyer Island, we’ve got bad news. As of July 6th, both are permanently closed. Like, not refurb. Not seasonal. Gone. That whole quiet little corner of the park is changing drastically, and if those were part of your mid-day cool-down plans, you’ll need to pivot. Tom Sawyer Island Also, the Walt Disney World Railroad is no longer doing its classic full-circle loop around the park. Since July 7th, it’s been running in “shuttle mode,” only traveling between certain stops instead of the full route. It’s still operating, but if you were planning to use it for a scenic break or as a transportation shortcut, it’s not going to deliver what it used to. Counting on Buzz Lightyear in Tomorrowland? Better Rethink That Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin is going offline starting August 4th for enhancements—and it’s not coming back this year. The ride will be closed until sometime in 2026. For families with kids or anyone who loves a good ride-and-compete, this might be a bigger hit than expected. Buzz has always been one of those reliable crowd-pleasers, and without it, Tomorrowland feels a little emptier. ©Disney If that was one of your must-dos, switch gears now. Head to Monsters, Inc. Laugh Floor for some air conditioning and chuckles, or grab a Lightning Lane for Space Mountain. Just don’t show up at Buzz’s entrance in August expecting to join Star Command. Trying to Beat the Heat at the Dumbo Playground? Not This Month We’ve recommended this play zone a lot in the past as a great place for families with younger kids to cool off while waiting for Dumbo, but the Dumbo the Flying Elephant Playground is closed for now—“through later in 2025,” according to Disney. Dumbo the Flying Elephant It might seem like a small thing, but if you were banking on it as a quiet space for your kiddo to decompress or escape the heat, this is a sneaky inconvenience. With that off the table, you’ll need to scope out backup indoor spots like the waiting area inside Pete’s Silly Sideshow or duck into Casey Jr. Splash ‘N’ Soak if the weather cooperates. Assuming EPCOT Will Look the Same All Month Let’s talk about Spaceship Earth. This is the ride literally inside EPCOT’s iconic geosphere (you know, the giant golf ball), and it’s been a “first stop of the day” classic for decades. But starting August 25th, it’s shutting down for a lengthy closure. Disney hasn’t said when it’ll reopen, so if your trip is late August or later, this is another big one to cross off your list. EPCOT If EPCOT was your chill, low-key day where you planned to ease into the morning with a slow-moving, educational ride, you’ll want to have a backup plan. The Living with the Land boat ride might give you that same slow-ride energy, or head to the Seas with Nemo & Friends if you’re looking for something similarly calm (with air conditioning, too). Thinking Hollywood Studios Has the Same Old Food and Shows Hollywood Studios has seen some serious shakeups recently. MuppetVision 3D? Gone. PizzeRizzo? Closed. Mama Melrose’s Ristorante Italiano? Also closed. The entire Muppets Courtyard officially shut down in June to make way for the new Monster’s Inc. Land, and that little pocket of the park feels very different now. Former Muppets Courtyard blocked If you had lunch plans at Mama Melrose or were counting on PizzeRizzo for a quick bite, it’s time to adjust. We’re still big fans of ABC Commissary and Docking Bay 7 for decent food without needing a reservation. August Trips Need More Flexibility Than You Think With all these closures—some temporary, some forever—your August trip might feel a bit different than you expected. The biggest mistake you can make right now is assuming everything you loved last year (or even a few months ago) is still open. Double-check the ride closures. Confirm your dining plans. Make peace with the fact that you’ll need to adjust. Disney World in August is still magical, but it’s shifting, and being flexible is going to make all the difference in how much fun you actually have. In the meantime, we’re always on the lookout for the latest Disney news, so stay tuned for more. Ozzy Osbourne, godfather of heavy metal and iconic frontman of Black Sabbath, passed away on July 22nd, 2025, at age 76, Newsweek has reported. via Pitchfork The musician died just weeks after an emotional farewell concert featuring Metallica and Guns N’ Roses, where Osbourne performed from a throne onstage. “It is with more sadness than mere words can convey that we have to report that our beloved Ozzy Osbourne has passed away this morning,” a statement from his family read. “He was with his family and surrounded by love. We ask everyone to respect our family privacy at this time.” Osbourne was diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease and had chronic health issues following a fall in 2019. via Newsweek He rose to fame with Black Sabbath, known for hits like “Iron Man,” “War Pigs,” and “Paranoid.” Later in life, he found success as a solo artist and became a reality TV icon on MTV’s The Osbournes, which centered around his life with his family. His legacy includes two Rock & Roll Hall of Fame inductions — for both Black Sabbath and as an individual artist — along with five Grammy wins and worldwide fandom. It might come as a surprise that Osbourne had a few Disney connections — he voiced Fawn in Gnomeo & Juliet, and played the manager for the band Helment in The Jerky Boys: The Movie. He also guest-starred in Fish Hooks and voiced the Duke of Drear in The 7D alongside his daughter, Kelly. via The Independent His songs have also been featured in Disney films. Most notably, “Iron Man” is played in the first Iron Man film, and “Crazy Train” was featured in the teaser trailer for Inside Out 2. Osbourne is survived by his wife Sharon and five children from two marriages. Our thoughts are with his family and friends during this difficult time. Recently, it has felt like one thing after another has been closing down in Disney World. Parts of DinoLand, U.S.A. have already been demolished for Pueblo Esperanza, Muppets Courtyard is behind walls to make way for the new Monsters, Inc. Land, and the Rivers of America is permanently closed so construction on the new Cars area can begin. Construction Walls up in Disney’s Hollywood Studios There are lots of Disney fans who are mourning the loss of these various areas at Disney World, and I completely understand how hard it can be to lose something that holds so many fond memories. It is definitely bittersweet to see parts of Disney World changed, but I am also so excited about the fact that these iconic areas are closing for good. Alright, alright, before you come for me in the comments, it’s definitely been sad to see these areas behind construction walls and being demolished. BUT, it also means that soon there will be new experiences to have at Disney World and new memories to make. Sure, I may not love every new ride or restaurant, but I’m a sucker for exploring new things. DinoLand Construction I am fortunate to be close to Disney World, and I am able to visit the parks frequently. I am still always down for a day at the parks, but I do end up doing a lot of the same things over again. I love doing those things, but it is also extra exciting when a new attraction or experience opens. I know this is not something that everyone has to worry about, and I know how lucky I am to have Disney World in my backyard. But, even if you have never been to Disney World or have only been once, being able to explore a new area can be so much fun! Walls near the Haunted Mansion in Magic Kingdom For example, getting to step foot inside Epic Universe for the first time was like being a kid in a candy store. A really, really big candy store complete with roller coasters. It was an entirely new theme park that I had never seen before. I actually had to use a map to get around! I am pretty sure I spent 90% of the day with my mouth wide open in awe. I can’t wait for that same feeling at these new experiences in Disney World. Epic Universe We aren’t going to love everything about it, and that’s okay. We will probably compare it to what was there before and maybe even wish the old attractions were still around, but it is still something entirely brand-new to explore and I can’t wait. I always think about Walt Disney’s quote saying: “We keep moving forward, opening new doors and doing new things, because we’re curious and curiosity keeps leading us down new paths.” Walt always said that Disneyland will never be completed, and I would be willing to bet he would say the same thing about Disney World. So, I say bring on the new expansions, I can’t wait! Big Al checking out the construction! We’ve had some GREAT meals at Summer House on the Lake and as one of the newest Disney Springs restaurants, it’s quickly made our shortlist of repeatable favorites. We love when they change up their menu for different meal times, and if the meal we enjoyed of the latest summer-time offerings was any indication, we were in for a real treat with the new changes to their brunch menu. Summer House on the Lake We recently stopped by Summer House on the Lake at Disney Springs to check out the latest changes to their brunch offerings, and now we’re bringing you our FULL review. Is it worth a stop on your next trip to the Most Magical Place on Earth? Find out here! Atmosphere There’s just something that feels familiar when you step through the doors of Summer House on the Lake. Stepping inside feels like you’ve stepped through to another place and time, where everything slows down and you’re able to soak in the food, the company, and everything that surrounds you. Inside the dining room Dining at Summer House, you can expect California-inspired bites including everything from pizza and pasta to fresh salads and sandwiches during your next visit to Disney Springs! You can enjoy any of these meals inside the eatery or on one of the spot’s three expansive patios. View from one of the porch tables of Summer House on the Lake But enough about the restaurant — what’s on the menu here?! Menu Brunch here is served on Saturdays and Sundays from 9 AM to 2PM, giving you plenty of time to enjoy their offerings no matter if you’re an early or late riser! Here’s a look at what’s available then. Starters and their Signature Guac will get you rollin! ©Disney That’s followed by Brunch Specialties and plates with Eggs… ©Disney …griddle and iron platters as well as a few salads. ©Disney There are veggies and Sandwiches… ©Disney …followed by Summer Comfort plates are next. ©Disney Kids menus are also listed for smaller portions for little ones. ©Disney Coffee, espresso, and desserts round out the main menu offerings. ©Disney Cookies and bars are also offered… ©Disney …along with cocktails and spritz beverages. ©Disney Drinks like zero-proof cocktails, sangria, and wines by the glass… ©Disney …along with a few beer options are there to keep your food company too. ©Disney And now, onto the main event — the food! Eats To get our mouths watering, we grabbed the Jalapeño Cornbread for $13.95. This is served with honey butter in a hot skillet brought right to your table. Jalapeño Cornbread Alright — immediately our mouths were watering at the mere sight of this thing and we couldn’t get over its massive size! The cornbread in the skillet is served warm to the touch when it’s brought out, so you’ll want to be careful if you plan on relocating it around the table. As for how it tastes, well, it might as well literally melt in your mouth! It’s truly a masterpiece of sweet cornbread, similar to the ones served at Flame Tree Barbecue in Animal Kingdom, only a lot more moist and just folds right in with each bite. Slice of cornbread The jalapeño in the corn bread does add that extra spice, but it’s just enough to know it’s there and give a quick pop of flavor. The honey butter is spot on for flavor, and while it might sound like it’s a little too sweet when you spread it over the cornbread, you’ll just have to trust us until you try it for yourself that it’s not. The honey butter instantly melts Our first entree we picked up was Our Famous Giant Cinnamon Roll for $17.95. This is made with fresh blueberry swirl, candied lemon zest, house-made cream cheese frosting. Our Famous Giant Cinnamon Roll At first glance, this thing will look more like a full cake than a cinnamon roll, but we’re telling you it’s worth every penny. We’ll go ahead and caution you that you should plan to line up a few friends with you to tackle this gigantic cinnamon roll, but know that none of you will be leaving on an empty stomach. The backside of the roll It’s made of several pull-apart sections that look more like a flaky bread roll from the outside than a traditional cinnamon roll. It’s sitting in a shallow bed of fresh blueberry sauce that is partially soaked into the bottom of the rolls, and the toppings of blueberries and lemon zest cascade down around it with each section pulled out. Pull-apart section It’s soft, pillowy, and the creamy icing adds an interesting spin to what you might expect of it versus a traditional icing for a cinnamon roll. Truly, this is a spectacle and we had the best time digging into it and uncovering all of its flavor secrets! For something with a different vibe, we picked up the Savory Pancake Tacos for $21.95. These come as a set of 3 made of three pancakes filled with scrambled eggs, cheddar, and maple sausage. Savory Pancake Tacos Admittedly, there’s just something intriguing about a “pancake taco” in the name, and instantly we knew we were in for a flavor journey! It was like having an entire breakfast platter of flavors at your fingertips in the best way. The sausage tasted like the kind you would expect to find as a pizza topping with a spiced flavor, while the creamy cheese and scrambled eggs lent a helping hand in softening the inside contents of the taco. As the name implies, the golden mini pancake serves as your traditional tortilla for the taco and was a fluffy, warm change to a flat corn or flour outer covering. Scrambled eggs, cheese, and sausage This breakfast taco really levels up though when you pour the maple syrup on top of the inside and fold it over to contain it against the eggs, cheese, and sausage. While we did have a choice of either this savory version or a sweet one made with mixed berries, we think we made a solid choice for this visit and are already planning a visit back to try out the sweet ones, too. For dessert, we picked up the Cookie Butter Pie for $11.95. This is made of cookie butter, vanilla cheesecake mousse, and Biscoff® cookie crust. Cookie Butter Pie This dessert looked and smelled so good, it broke our hearts to cut into it when we had to! It was so aromatic and smelled just like a butter cookie tastes. It was wild to experience such a sweet and buttery flavor through smell, but when we picked up our first bite, we were instantly hooked! A piece of the pie The Biscoff cookie crust crumbles underneath the pie like a graham cracker crust’s consistency would, and the cheesecake mousse against the butter cookie flavors almost gives a hint of butterscotch to the taste. We’d highly recommend trying this one out while you can because Summer House on the Lake is known to switch up their pie flavors seasonally and we’d be remiss if you let this one pass you by on your next Disney World trip. Nosh or Not This Disney World restaurant is a must-visit if… You’re looking for a picturesque brunch spot at Disney World with even better food! We think that about sums up the entire experience you’ll have here, but it’s truly unmatched. You’re looking for more flavor out of traditional breakfast options served elsewhere at Disney World. You’re looking for exciting new offerings all the time! Summer House on the Lake is full of seasonal switches and menu shake-ups throughout the year. If you’re bored of the same menu, you won’t have to worry much about that here. You should skip this Disney World spot if… Traditional brunch offerings are more your speed. Summer House on the Lake will indeed have those to offer here; however, their specialties really shine in the more adventurous eats on the menu. You’re not looking to spend time away from Disney World’s parks. If you’re hunting a brunch spot that’s not going to take you too far away from its theme parks where you’re worried about losing out on time for more rides, attractions, and entertainment, this might not be the best option for you to consider since it’s located at Disney Springs. You’re just not a breakfast person. If the idea of breakfast doesn’t appeal to you, and your flavor palate vibes more with lunch and dinner, no amount of compliments we can throw Summer House on the Lake’s brunch menu will likely change your mind (although we feel very similarly to their own lunch menu as we do their brunch offerings)! Overall These new menu offerings simply blew us away! We’re still talking about how great the food is here, days later, and already planning out repeat visits to share with our family and friends. If you’re looking for one of the best sleeper hits at Disney World for a brunch that you won’t require you to get your day started right as the sun comes up, this is a wonderful option to consider booking for your next trip. We have eaten EVERYWHERE in Disney World, and we aren’t stopping there! We constantly review new food and revisit locations to give you the most up-to-date reviews. We even head to those hidden dining spots that most people probably haven’t even heard of. Disney’s Saratoga Springs Well, today, we are heading to one of those spots. We are stopping by Chip ‘n’ Dale’s Cafe at Disney’s Lake Buena Golf Course at Saratoga Springs Resort to see what was cookin’, and now we’re bringing you our FULL review. Should you seek out this hard-to-find dining spot? Find out here! Atmosphere You might be wondering why you have never heard of Chip ‘n’ Dale’s Cafe before. Well, this restaurant is tucked away at Disney’s Saratoga Springs Resort, and it can be VERY easy to miss. You will find it just off of Disney’s Lake Buena Vista Golf Course, and it used to be called Chips & Slices. This hidden location serves up lunch for golfers or anyone else who happens to stop by. Which, today, just so happens to be us! Welcome to Chip ‘n’ Dale’s Cafe Even once you find it, you may still be wondering if you actually found it. All of the magic happens from a window snack counter that can be found behind the lobby building near the Golf Pro Shop. You can even pull your golf cart right up to the spot for a quick and easy lunch spot! There are a few nearby tables, but all of the seating is outdoors here. However, since it is a relatively hidden snack counter, you will likely be one of the few people here. Chip n Dale’s Cafe But enough about the restaurant — what’s on the menu here?! Menu You can grab a quick breakfast at Chip ‘n’ Dale’s Cafe, too! They don’t have a big menu, but if you are looking for some fuel you can grab a Breakfast Sandwich or a Breakfast Burrito. ©Disney The dining location mostly focuses on lunch options, and you can find a variety of options including hot dogs, wraps, and sandwiches. With each item, you can choose to get it by itself, with chips and a fountain drink, or with chips and a domestic beer. ©Disney There are even more lunch options including a Chicken Bacon Quesadilla and a Country Club Wrap. ©Disney It also offers some snacks including pretzels, peanuts, and candy bars. ©Disney There are also a variety of options for beverages including the golf classic Arnold Palmer. ©Disney Plus, you can also get alcoholic beverages here as well. ©Disney And now, onto the main event — the food! Eats First up, we grabbed the Country Club Wrap for $11.50. This is a golf course classic. It is made with bacon, turkey, Swiss cheese, ham, and American cheese with lettuce, tomato, and mayonnaise. The Country Club Wrap! This thing is loaded with meat, which we were very impressed by. There is a large selection of condiments by the order window (mustard, mayo, ketchup, relish), and we would definitely recommend grabbing some for this wrap as it’s pretty dry without any condiments. There was a bit of mayonnaise on it, but we feel like with all the meat, it needed more. Another look at the inside! It was your classic deli meat, and as heavy as it was on the meat, it was very light on the lettuce. There were a few pieces of tomato in there, but it was barely there. We would have liked a bit more lettuce and tomato, but that is probably more of a personal preference. It wasn’t overly special, but it was fine and had some familiar flavors, so you know what to expect when you order it. Where are the veggies? We also grabbed Chicken Bacon Quesadilla for $10! It has grilled chicken, crisp bacon and melted cheese served with a side of salsa and sour cream. The quesadilla! This was easily our favorite of the two. It had tons of cheese, and the chicken was diced into smaller chunks, making it easier to enjoy. The bacon was used sparingly, but the cheese was so nice and melted that we didn’t notice it as much. It held together well and tasted like a perfect childhood quesadilla. The inside! The three flavors balanced nicely, and this was a solid option to grab if you’re already here. Nosh or Not This Disney World restaurant is a must-visit if… You’re already close by You have picky eaters Or you want to pull your golf cart up during the game for a snack You should skip this Disney World spot if… You want exciting options You have to go out of your way for it Or you want more than just handheld options Overall This spot offers familiar flavors for easy grab-and-go options while you’re playing golf or swinging by the area. (Swinging, get it?) We weren’t mad at this spot, but we can’t see ourselves recommending it outside of necessity eating! Both together! In the meantime, we’ll be on the lookout for more restaurant updates from Disney World and beyond. Make sure you stay tuned to the Disney Food Blog for the latest Disney news and more! More changes are coming to Disney’s Hollywood Studios theme park, including the replacement of Star Wars: Launch Bay in favor of a new attraction dubbed The Magic of Disney Animation. There’s also a giant sorcerer’s hat in the works again. And company-supplied renderings indicate the removal of the archway that currently is the entrance to the area. The park’s Animation Courtyard will be reimagined into a version of the real-life Walt Disney Studios. In the main building, “you will interact with and explore silly takes on the iconic Disney Animation headquarters, including the many different studio departments. Only this time, some of our favorite pals have taken over to create the fun adventures,” reads a post on the official Disney Parks Blog. Inspiration for the area comes from the short film “Once Upon a Studio,” in which characters came to life after animators step away. Also included will be a “Drawn to Wonderland” indoor playground inspired by Disney Legend Mary Blair’s “Alice in Wonderland” concept, character sketching lessons and meet-and-greets. The animation building will be fronted by a tall Mickey’s sorcerer hat (a la “Fantasia”) over its entrance. Disney mentions that the facade will be “just like the real building in California” but WDW aficiandos will remember a 122-foot giant sorcerer hat installed at Hollywood Studios that stood in front of the Chinese Theater building from 2001 through early 2015. Other plans for the area appear to include a re-landscaping that adds “lush trees” to the courtyard. Changes coming to the animation area include a new sorcerer hat and landscaping. Gone: the formidable archway and Star Wars: Launch Bay activities. (Walt Disney Co.)The changes are also a throwback to the earliest days of the theme park, which opened as Disney-MGM Studios in 1989. The company opened an on-site branch of Walt Disney Animation, and park visitors could peer at actual, real-life animators at work. The films “Mulan” and “Lilo & Stitch” were completed there, but the work was discontinued at the park in 2004. The last day for the current version of Animation Courtyand and Disney Jr. Play and Dance! will be Sept. 24. Visitors will still have access to “The Little Mermaid — A Musical Adventure” show and Walt Disney Presents. The new animation activities are expected to debut in 2026, Disney says. The park has other construction projects underway. MuppetVision 3-D and a restaurant recently closed to make room for a land inspired by “Monsters, Inc.,” and Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster will be reimagined to incorporate a Muppet theme. Hollywood Studios also recently added a stage show named “Disney Villains: Unfairly Ever After.” Email me at dbevil@orlandosentinel.com. BlueSky: @themeparksdb. Threads account: @dbevil. Hollywood Studios is about to change again! ©Disney Disney just announced a brand-new attraction and overhaul of Animation Courtyard in the theme park, and we have big feelings! As we get something new, it means losing a few things as well. Disney has confirmed a closing date for two Hollywood Studios attractions, and it’s sooner than you might think. In case you missed it, the Animation Courtyard is getting a retheme! This quiet area in Hollywood Studios is turning into “The Walt Disney Studios,” and it will be taking inspiration from the Burbank area with special nods to the Walt Disney Studios Lot! ©Disney Star Wars: Launch Bay will be turning into “The Magic of Disney Animation,” which is inspired by Walt Disney Animation Studios and will even feature Mickey’s famous Sorcerer Hat on top of the building. The new building will let you into the studio, “as the animators have temporarily stepped away,” and characters come to life and take over! This is heavily inspired by “Once Upon A Studio” and will even have moments where portraits come to life. Disney even teased that ” you’ll even pencil in some time to learn how to draw your very own character sketch.” ©Disney In addition to this overhaul, Disney is also adding a new “Drawn to Wonderland” playground inspired by Disney Legend Mary Blair’s concept art for Alice in Wonderland. This playground will be full of oversized flowers with musical instruments, a Mad Tea Party playset, and a Tulgey Wood exploration area! While there are tons of exciting changes, it does mean the closure of Animation Courtyard and Disney Jr. Play and Dance. ©Disney Animation Courtyard and Disney Jr. Play and Dance! will close on September 25, 2025, to make way for the new changes, which are planned to open in 2026. Disney confirmed that The Little Mermaid – A Musical Adventure and Walt Disney Presents will remain open during this time. They also confirmed that Disney Jr. Play and Dance will get a “fresh” take, but they didn’t expand on what changes we can expect. Changes are coming! We can’t wait to see what these changes will look like, especially because we’ve felt like this area needed some TLC for years. We just need confirmation that Darth Vader will still be available for meet-and-greets somewhere in Disney World. As always, be sure to keep following DFB for more Disney news and updates! Flying into Orlando just got a little less stressful. Orlando International Airport If you’re planning a Disney World trip this fall, there are a few new airport rules you’ll want to know before you even leave home. The good news? Some of the biggest travel pain points are getting smoother, from TSA lines to carry-on rules. Here’s what’s changing (and what to prep for) the next time you’re flying into Orlando International Airport (MCO). You Can Now Keep Your Shoes On Yep, that awkward moment at security where you’re hopping on one foot and hoping your sock doesn’t have a hole? Over. As of July 8th, 2025, TSA officially dropped the shoe removal requirement at all airports—including Orlando. The change is thanks to their cutting-edge technological advancements and multi-layered security approach. MCO Airport Basically they can now analyze footwear without needing you to strip down, so your sneakers, sandals, or Minnie-themed Crocs can stay firmly on your feet. It’s a small change, but if you’ve ever tried wrestling a toddler and a laptop and your shoes in the security line, you know it’s a game-changer. Families Get Their Own Security Lanes This one feels like it’s been a long time coming. TSA is officially expanding a program that started right at Orlando Airport—special “Families on the Fly” lanes. These are wider, less rushed security lines that give families a little more breathing room (and yes, a little more patience, too). Security at MCO Think fewer glares when your toddler melts down or your diaper bag needs to be triple-scanned. These lanes are designed with strollers, baby bottles, and young kids in mind. If you’re flying with littles this fall, definitely look for signage when you arrive at security — you might get waved into the family lane automatically. Military Members Get Free PreCheck and Dedicated “Honor Lanes” Here’s one more reason Orlando is leading the way: MCO now has dedicated Honor Lanes for military members, their spouses, and Gold Star families. Even better? You don’t need to pay for PreCheck—access is free if you’re eligible. ©AP There are even mobile sign-up stations in the terminals, so if you forgot to set it up ahead of time, you can still get it done on-site. These lanes work just like PreCheck: faster, less invasive screening with way shorter lines. TSA is planning to roll this out nationwide, but Orlando’s ahead of the curve here. REAL ID Is Now Enforced—And Orlando Isn’t Playing Around After years of delays and extensions, the REAL ID rule is officially live as of May 2025. That means if your state-issued ID doesn’t have the little star in the corner, you’re probably not getting through TSA without extra screening—or possibly not at all. ©DHS.gov Don’t assume your regular license is enough just because it worked last year. A passport still works too, but if you’re relying on a standard driver’s license, make sure it’s REAL ID-compliant before you get to the airport. The 3-1-1 Liquid Rule Might Be On Its Way Out The days of rationing shampoo and praying your moisturizer doesn’t get flagged could be numbered. TSA is actively testing tech that might finally end the 3-1-1 liquids rule. That means bigger bottles, fewer plastic baggies, and one less rule to memorize at 4 AM. ©Target Right now, it’s still in the testing phase, but Orlando is one of the key airports being considered for pilot programs. So if you’re flying this fall, you’ll still need to follow the usual 3.4-ounce rule for now, but don’t be surprised if Orlando becomes one of the first airports to loosen it. We’ll keep you posted. The Bottom Line Orlando International is one of the busiest airports in the country, especially during Disney season. These new rules are aimed at making things smoother and faster, but only if you know what to expect. Here’s the quick cheat sheet before your flight: No more shoe removal. TSA says keep ‘em on. Flying with kids? Look for the new family lanes. Military families? Use the Honor Lanes for faster screening—for free. REAL ID? You need it now. Check your license for the star. Liquids rule? Still in place, but it might be changing soon. Security at MCO We’ll be keeping tabs on all the latest travel changes, especially anything that affects your Disney World trip. Because the last thing you want is airport drama before you’ve even made it to the castle. In the meantime, make sure you stay tuned to the Disney Food Blog for the latest news! ALERT! This TSA Rule Is OPTIONAL When You Travel! Are you flying to Disney World soon? Let us know in the comments. Uh, Disney Adults? How are we feeling? Animation Courtyard Disney has just announced a new transformation coming to Hollywood Studios, unveiling something that fans have been asking for for years. Get ready to hold onto your hats because Disney has finally listened! Mickey’s Sorcerer Hat is coming back to Hollywood Studios! ©Disney Yes, please read that again. The hat is back. Sorcerer’s Hat at Hollywood Studios Back in the day, a giant Mickey Sorcerer Hat, from 2001 to 2015, served as the icon of Hollywood Studios. It was hard to miss when you walked in and saw it in front of the Chinese Theater (but of course, it was The Great Movie Ride back then). Now, 10 years later, it’s coming back! ©Disney The hat is coming to “The Magic of Disney Animation,” a new transformation at Star Wars: Launch Bay. This new space will invite guests to experience the magic of Disney animation through drawing classes, a playground inspired by Mary Blair’s concept art from Alice in Wonderland, and watch portraits come to life before their eyes. ©Disney While all of that is amazing, it was really the hat that stole the show! The building will be topped with the iconic hat, just like the real building in California, “which will cast a spell of pixie dust.” Back when Disney was starting to take down the hat! Will it light up? Play a song? Will Mickey himself jump out of the top like a birthday cake? Okay, probably not the last one, but we’re excited to see what the pixie dust will be. This new experience is scheduled for 2026, and we’re already starting to count down the days until we see the new hat. Make sure you keep following Disney Food Blog for more!
