Disney World is seeing a lot of construction from theme parks to resorts. Pop Century Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort has construction walls in the lobby for the new birdcage bar that is coming! Disney’s Animal Kingdom has walls up for Tropical Americas’ construction, while Magic Kingdom has the Rivers of America drained to begin construction for the new Cars area, Piston Peak. But, there’s another popular resort that we can add to this list that is seeing some construction. Disney’s Pop Century Resort is getting its rooms refurbished, but Disney also recently announced that the hotel is getting some work done on its lobby. The Disney World website indicates that the construction will last from July 28th through October. ©Disney That means in a few weeks, we could see a totally different lobby here at Pop Century! The lobby at Disney’s Pop Century “will be getting a retro-inspired refresh.” The lobby will remain open during this time, although you may see and hear construction. All hotel amenities will also be available. Pop Century Lobby The rooms at Pop Century are also undergoing some updates: that work started in March and won’t be completed until February 2026. We’re not sure what this renovation will entail because these rooms look the same as the other value resorts. We’d love to see this whole super colorful retro theme in the rooms, too. Pop Century Rooms In March 2025, we saw Everything Pop Food Court get an upgrade with bright, retro colors and new furniture. Could this be the theme that will overtake the lobby and the rooms? We will have to wait to see what Disney has up their sleeve. Everything Pop We will report the changes and updates as they come, so be sure to stay tuned to DFB! You never know what you might find while you are online shopping! We recently spotted this strange Disney World find on Amazon, so of course, we had to give it a try. We want to test out if it is worth the purchase for your next Disney trip! We are testing out this strange find! We put this product to the test during a full day at the Disney World parks, and we are telling you everything. Is this strange find worth $40? We are here to find out! DISCLOSURE: This post may contain affiliate links, meaning when you click the links and make a purchase, we receive a commission. What exactly are you looking at? It’s the VentaPak Lightweight Ventilation Backpack Spacer. Essentially, the product is trying to provide some ventilation between your backpack and your back. While at the same time, also providing some additional back support and assistance with your posture. VentaPak Lightweight Ventilation Backpack Spacer The product clips onto your backpack and acts as a support to keep your backpack from laying on your back. The support allows air to flow between your backpack and your back and helping to prevent the back sweat. We are in the theme parks every single day, and we know how gross it can feel when your entire back is drenched in sweat from carrying around a backpack all day. But there are a lot of essentials that you might want to have with you at the parks, so ditching the backpack entirely might not be an option. Can this product keep your back dry? We found out! VentaPak Lightweight Ventilation Backpack Spacer We wore it ALL day long, and we were impressed that it really helped with excessive sweating from wearing a backpack. It allowed some great air flow, and we didn’t have a backpack shaped sweat spot whenever we took off our bag. It also alleviates some of the weight of the bag by redistributing it more evenly. Our back felt SO much better after a day in the parks than normal. Clipping on There was one big negative, though. In order for it to work properly and have provide the proper weight distribution, we had to keep our straps pretty tight. With the tightening of the straps, we ended up sweating more in our armpits because of the snug straps. We also found that it made the backpack more difficult to get on and off. Look at that air flow! However, even with the negatives, we found that this product made our day in the park much better! Less sweat and less back pain equals a much happier backpack wearer. This product is a bit on the pricy side, so we don’t think it is a necessity unless you really hate back sweat, have someone with back problems carrying a backpack, or someone needs to carry a really large bag for a whole family. We definitely left the park feeling much better, but you can still easily make it through your day without this item! Get this backpack spacer here! Stay tuned to DFB for more product reviews! When it comes to travel, our team has been collecting the best tips and tricks for over 15 years. Let’s fly! From Disney World to Disneyland and all around the world, we know quite a few hacks for surviving long travel days. We also know about the one weird rule you need to plan on for long travel days, and we learned this one the hard way! When it comes to traveling overseas, we have definitely learned what’s right and wrong the hard way. Everyone has their little tricks to get them through those long days, like packing the perfect blanket, bringing the must-have pillow, or taking melatonin before you even sit down on the plane. For us, our weird travel rule is that we have to set reminders to eat! Let’s take a flight! Don’t click out, hear us out! You might be thinking, “This isn’t an issue I have. I know when to eat.” To that, we say, you only think you know! During a trip to Hong Kong a few years ago, we were headed to the region’s Disney park. It felt like we were living life on a high. We were checking out everything the park had to offer, like the World of Frozen and the exclusive Mystic Manor attraction. Hong Kong Disneyland On our first day, as we ran around the park, we were busy checking out the characters, merchandise, rides, and more! We were suffering from jet lag, but we weren’t noticing the slowdowns until it all came to a screeching halt. Suddenly, we felt sick, sluggish, and had developed headaches. In our haste to enjoy the park, we never considered how the 12-hour time difference would affect our eating habits. Disney Friends Dim Sum at Hong Kong Disneyland When we would normally be eating our meals, we were sleeping. When we would normally be sleeping, we were running around nonstop. While we knew we had changed time zones, our stomachs hadn’t quite caught up, meaning we slept through our normal hunger cues and then were too distracted while we were awake, trying to take it all in. We went almost the entire first day without eating, and it put a halt to the latter half of our day. Chinese breakfast in Hong Kong Disneyland After that, we learned that on the first day of international travel, we have to set literal reminders to eat! As crazy as that sounds, this is a rule we live and breathe by now that we know it. Feeling sick and sluggish on the first day of our trip was not in our plans, and while it didn’t ruin the trip, it definitely wasn’t a highlight. Duffy and Friends float during the “Friendtastic” Parade There are tons of different ways that travel, international or domestic, can go wrong! It doesn’t mean it’s the end of the world. Learning to take these bumps in stride is just part of becoming a travel pro! As always, be sure to keep following DFB for more travel tips, tricks, and secrets. This CHEAP Way To Book Vacations Is a Travel GAME-CHANGER What is your weird travel rule? Tell us in the comments! Wondering when the best time to visit Disney World is? You’re not alone – it’s one of the most common questions people ask when they’re planning their Disney vacation. The good news: Disney World has great options to plan your best trip ever, no matter what time of year you’re traveling. With flexible ticket deals, hotel offers, and exciting new experiences, it’s easy to create the vacation that makes sense for you. Here are our top tips to help you find the best time to visit Disney World for your family, budget, bucket list, and beyond. Best Time to Visit Disney World for the Lowest Prices Best Time to Visit Disney World for Lower Crowds Best Time to Visit Disney World for Holiday Décor Best Time to Visit Disney World for Unique Experiences Tips for Visiting During Different Weather Seasons Current Disney World Deals You Should Know About Best Time to Visit Disney World for the Lowest Prices Use the calendar on the Theme Park Ticket page to view the lowest-priced days at a glance. Summer offers many of the lowest-priced dates, including some of the least expensive ones in August and September. Last minute trip, anyone? Keep the offers page in your rotation to see some of our best Disney deals, like 50% off kids tickets this summer or a free dining plan with 2026 vacations (for kids ages 3-9). Tips for saving on your Disney trip: Adjusting your dates by even one or two days (especially around major holidays) can unlock big savings on both tickets and hotels – just like when you’re looking for a great flight deal. Can you travel a day earlier or stay a day later? Deal hunters can even stack some offers to find better value, like a great resort room discount and our 3-Day, 3-Park ticket offer. Park hours are typically longer in the summer, which means there’s more time to explore. Best Time to Visit Disney World for Lower Crowds We know many guests are looking for ways to experience the theme parks with fewer crowds. Typically, summer (with its longer hours), early September, and a couple of weeks before the holidays are good times to plan around. One of my favorite ways to enjoy more magic in less time is at an After Hours event. These limited-capacity, separately ticketed events offer access to some of the most popular attractions with shorter wait times, smaller crowds, and snacks included. After Hours events in 2025 take place at EPCOT, Disney’s Hollywood Studios, and Typhoon Lagoon, with the final scheduled dates in September. Treats like ice cream, popcorn, and bottled beverages are included. Staying at a Disney Resort? On check-in day, use the waterpark admission included with your resort stay before heading to the park in the evening. Resort perk: If you’re staying with us at a Deluxe Resort hotel, look for extended evening hours on the calendar and enjoy up to two hours extra after the park closes on select nights. Best Time to Visit Disney World for Holiday Décor Can’t resist the holiday magic? You’re in luck! We love to kick off seasonal celebrations early and the magic lasts longer than just the holiday itself. This means you can get the full experience even if you travel before the actual holiday. Halloween: The spooky season starts in late Summer (the first Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party was on August 15!) and lasts through October. Christmas: Did you know our cast members pull the merriest all-nighter of the year to transform pumpkins into a festive wonderland? Plus, Jollywood Nights at Hollywood Studios and Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party at Magic Kingdom are some of the best times to visit for exclusive holiday shows and seasonal treats you can only find during these events. Best Time to Visit Disney World for Unique Experiences If you love live music and creative cuisine, EPCOT’s festivals are reason enough to plan your visit around. These events offer something different every season, and they’re all included with your regular theme park admission. International Festival of the Arts (January-February): Performances from Broadway stars, interactive art walls, and colorful Instagram-worthy food. International Flower & Garden Festival (Spring): Character topiaries, garden exhibits, fresh flavors, and favorite artists at the Garden Rocks Concert Series (performing three concerts daily). International Food & Wine Festival (Late Summer-Fall): A culinary adventure across six continents and live music from global artists at the Eat to the Beat concert series. International Festival of the Holidays (November-December): Traditions from around the world, festive eats and the beloved Candlelight Processional featuring celebrity narrators. Tips for Visiting During Different Weather Seasons Nearly year-round sunshine in Florida means there’s always a chance to enjoy Disney World park days, outdoor dining, and resort time. While every season brings its own magic, some travel windows stand out for those who want to make the most of the weather: Summer: Beyond the best prices of the year, it’s also the ideal time to dive into one of Disney’s water parks, Typhoon Lagoon and Blizzard Beach. Plus, longer days mean more flexibility to start your park day early, enjoy a pool break at your Resort hotel (did you know there are more than 100 unique pools?), and then return for the brand-new nighttime parade, Starlight at Magic Kingdom. Get all our Tips for Staying Cool at Disney World in the summer months. Early fall (late September into October): A fan favorite for sunshine and the start of festive decor, explore EPCOT’s outdoor festival kitchens by day, and save your warmer outfit for Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party at night. Late winter and early spring (January through March): Clear skies and comfortable conditions (‘Spirit Jersey weather’) make for a great time to stroll the parks after the holiday hustle and bustle. Spring (Late April-May): Take advantage of warm weather, Flower & Garden Festival in full bloom, and a perfect lead-in to summer before the kids are officially out of school. Current Disney World Deals You Should Know About Florida Resident 4-Day Summer Magic Ticket for $60 per day 3-Day, 3-Park Ticket for as low as $89 per day 50% Off Kids Tickets this summer Free Kids Dining Plan for 2026 vacations So, when’s the best time to visit Disney World? Disney’s Wilderness Lodge is stunning. Between the grand lobby, the cozy fireplaces, and the quiet boat ride to Magic Kingdom, it feels like stepping into a rustic retreat right in the middle of Disney World. Wilderness Lodge But here’s the truth: as dreamy as it is, I quickly realized there were a few things I wish I had bought before staying here. If you’re planning a trip, these essentials are about to make your stay way more comfortable (and less stressful). DISCLOSURE: This post may contain affiliate links, meaning when you click the links and make a purchase, we receive a commission. Flat Plug Power Strip Flat Plug Power Strip If you’ve ever stayed in a Disney hotel, you know the outlets are never where you need them—or there aren’t enough of them. Wilderness Lodge rooms are gorgeous, but between charging my phone, laptop, Apple Watch, camera, and everything else, I was playing musical chairs with the outlets. This flat plug power strip would’ve solved it all. It turns a single outlet into three outlets plus two USB-A and two USB-C ports—so seven devices charging at once. The flat, angled plug means it sits flush against the wall and doesn’t block other outlets, which is perfect in a hotel room where every inch of space matters. The braided cord is durable, the USB-C is fast charging, and it’s compact enough to throw in your park bag. Honestly, it’s the kind of thing you don’t realize you need until you’re fighting your family for the only free outlet. View on Amazon Travel Blanket Throw ©Amazon The Wilderness Lodge lobby is magical, but sometimes the AC in Disney hotels can feel like Elsa set it to “permanent winter.” I had packed a hoodie, but I wish I had brought this plush travel blanket with me. It’s super soft, big enough (70 x 48 inches) to actually cover you, and comes in its own little travel pouch that doubles as a pillow. This would’ve been perfect for curling up on the balcony to watch the Electrical Water Pageant or to nap under after a long park day. It even clips to your luggage, so you don’t have to waste bag space. And unlike Disney’s hotel blankets, this one is actually soft and cozy. View on Amazon 8 Set Packing Cubes ©Amazon These packing cubes would’ve saved me from chaos. The set comes in multiple sizes, which means I could’ve kept my park clothes separate from my dinner outfits, and my pajamas separate from everything else. The mesh tops help you see what’s inside without unzipping, and they keep clothes from getting wrinkly. They also make unpacking way faster—just pull the cubes out and pop them into the dresser. If you’re staying more than a couple of nights, this is a game changer. View on Amazon BAGSMART Travel Toiletry Bag BAGSMART Travel Toiletry Bag Wilderness Lodge bathrooms are beautiful, but counter space can feel limited. Between toothbrushes, makeup, sunscreen, and all the other stuff, I was juggling everything in a pile on the sink. This BAGSMART toiletry bag would’ve fixed that. It’s roomy with four compartments, so you can keep things upright and organized. The waterproof lining is a lifesaver if something leaks (because of course the shampoo bottle wants to leak). It zips open wide, which makes grabbing things so much easier than digging through a pouch. It even stands upright, so bottles don’t tip over. If you’re a family sharing one bathroom, this is worth every penny. View on Amazon Travel Toddler Bathtub ©Amazon If you’re staying at Wilderness Lodge with a little one, this is the number one thing you’ll wish you would’ve packed. Our room had a giant soaking tub and a glass-door shower, neither of which were baby-friendly. That means, you might end up doing bath time in the sink, which is not ideal. This inflatable travel bathtub would be perfect. It inflates quickly, has a little saddle horn to keep babies from sliding, and even has a drain plug for easy cleanup. Plus, it folds down small enough to fit in a suitcase. If your kiddo is between 6 and 24 months, this makes bath time way less stressful. Trust me, trying to bathe a slippery toddler in a deep tub is not the kind of Wilderness Lodge adventure you want. Travel days are HARD. We’ve been there so many times ourselves, but we have to be honest: sometimes MCO Orlando Airport gives us some pretty intense issues. MCO Airport Security Between all of our team members, we’re flying somewhere at least once a month (often times way more), and many of us fly in and out of MCO Airport. Which means we know the airport like the back of our hand, so trust us when we say that if you’re flying in or out, these are the two situations we recommend avoiding at all costs. Getting Stuck on the Tarmac If you’ve ever been stuck on the tarmac for any reason, you know it’s not a fun time. The plane door is closed, so there’s no getting off — you’re expected to stay in your seat strapped in, but instead of being up in the air, you’re just…sitting there. Southwest Planes An issue that plagues Orlando often is storms, especially in the summer, because of the high temperatures. Planes often have trouble taking off in heavy storms, as it’s not safe, so if you’re flying out, you’ll sit on the tarmac waiting until it’s safe. As it turns out, when it storms in Florida, “there is only one path out,” so all the planes line up to take off one right after the other…which takes FOREVER when there’s a delay. Orlando International Airport We’ve had this happen to us on multiple different occasions with TWO different airlines, so it’s not an issue specifically just with one. The longest one of our team members has waited was 70 minutes, which is a LONG time to be doing nothing on the tarmac. To avoid this, we recommend flying out in the morning if you can, when severe storms are less likely to hit. Lack of Dining Options Terminal C is currently most travelers’ favorite terminal at the airport for many reasons, namely because it’s the newest and has the most updated look and feel. That includes the dining options that are there too, so eating any meal of the day, we find to be easier in this terminal. MCO Airport However, the opposite goes for Terminals A & B. We’ve found that the dining options here are few and far between, especially for breakfast. That’s hard, because lots of people fly in or out of Orlando earlier in the day to make the most of their vacation or get home at a decent time, so not having many options for breakfast isn’t great. Welcome to the Orlando International Airport We’ve had multiple situations where there are only 1-2 breakfast spots in Terminal B, especially, and the ones that are there are PACKED. If you get to the airport early, you won’t run into much trouble and will have time to wait in that line, but if security takes longer than expected and you’re concerned about making it to your flight on time, waiting 20 minutes in a breakfast line isn’t going to make your day any better. With that being said, if you know you’re flying out of Terminals A or B, allow for a little extra time if you know you want to grab something to eat ahead of time. For decades, many Disney Adults vehemently argued that the only acceptable way to circumnavigate World Showcase was to begin in Mexico. However, that’s changing for some… Mexico Pavilion In the last decade+, two major additions to the World Showcase have altered how many approach their visit to the Mexican Pavilion. Even I, who without fail headed to Mexico first over my first 30 years visiting EPCOT, have rethought my strategy. The first came in 2009 with the opening of La Cava del Tequila within the pavilion. Offering over 200 tequilas, top-shelf cocktails, as well as a selection of Mexican beer and wine, this bar has become a go-to spot for many Disney Adults, especially those planning to “Drink Around the World.” La Cava del Tequila The second came in 2019, when Disney opened the Skyliner gondola system, which included a station at the International Gateway near the park’s French pavilion. While this secondary entrance had existed for decades, the addition of the new transportation system made it a much more viable entrance for thousands of guests to use each day. Disney World’s Skyliner The combination of La Cava’s popularity and the increased use of the International Gateway entrance near France due to the Skyliner has led to many Disney Adults making Mexico their final stop of a trip around the World Showcase, often involving a nightcap/celebratory final drink of tequila at the pavilion. Cheers While there are still many Disney guests who begin their journey around World Showcase in Mexico, a group of Disney Adults has started capping their night there instead. Stay tuned to DFB for more Disney trends. 4 Rules You’re Accidentally Breaking in EPCOT What’s you’re preferred route around World Showcase in the Skyliner era? Let us know in the comments below! Choosing where to eat at Disney World isn’t easy — but that’s what we’re here for! Disney’s BoardWalk We recently stopped by Trattoria al Forno for dinner at Disney’s Boardwalk Inn Resort to see what was cookin’, and now we’re bringing you our FULL review. Is it worth a stop on your next trip to the Most Magical Place on Earth? Find out here! Atmosphere Along the stretch of restaurants and games that line the Boardwalk, you’ll find Trattoria al Forno. Here, they’re known for their memorable breakfast and dinners served daily, and have quickly risen in the ranks, thanks to serving an “original Italian” menu. The dinner here features regional specialties with classic preparations, and many of the ingredients are crafted in-house (including their hand-crafted mozzarella and handmade cavatelli). Trattoria al Forno also features seasonal risotto and serves only Italian wines. Trattoria al Forno As you make your way into the restaurant, you’re greeted by the host stand to check in until your table is ready. Here you’ll catch your first glimpses of the Italian chic decor you’ll find throughout the restaurant, which helps give it a sophisticated vibe. Check in here As you make your way through the dining room, you’ll pass the spacious open kitchen counter, where you’ll witness the chefs prepare dishes that will eventually make their way to their corresponding tables. Open kitchen The walls are lined with vintage portraits of scenic Italian cities, and you could be seated at either a table with high-backed chairs… Lots of browns and reds …or a deep burgundy booth. Wall decor But enough about the restaurant — what’s on the menu here?! Menu As we mentioned before, this restaurant has come to be known for serving some of the best Italian dishes you’ll find in all of Disney World. Your menu offerings will start off with a few appetizers… ©Disney …entrees and pizza options… ©Disney …sides… ©Disney …desserts… ©Disney …and even kids’ meal options! ©Disney For drinks, you’ll have your choice of non-alcoholic beverages… ©Disney …cocktails… ©Disney …and a variety of beers. ©Disney And now, onto the main event — the food! Eats First up, we had the restaurant’s bread service delivered to our table. The bread service here was incredible and definitely an upgrade from our last visit. Bread Service The regular bread here is plant-based, so the entire table could enjoy both the bread and the roasted garlic in olive oil that they brought out with it. The roasted garlic was so gooey and creamy, and it spread onto the bread with ease like butter. However, it comes with a garlic overload! Garlic overload Thankfully, our reporter reviewing this meal is a MAJOR garlic lover, so this was perfect for him, but anyone on the fence about garlic should know it’s done really well, yet really intensely. There was even a bit of heat to it because of how much garlic was used, and we could see some people might be sensitive to how strong the flavor is. The first dish to arrive was the Calamari for $18. This is served with Spicy Marinara, Parsley, and Pepperoncini. Calamari The whole dish contains smaller pieces of calamari, and if they had been bigger pieces with the same amount of breading, we think it would’ve been perfect! The ratio was just slightly off because of the size, but it wasn’t bad. As for how they taste, we didn’t find them rubbery at all, and the flavor was solid. So much on one plate The batter was well-seasoned, which we appreciated, and the dipping sauce was a little on the watery side. We would have loved it if it had a bit more body and a little better adherence when dipping the calamari into it. We also grabbed the Red Wine-braised Beef Short Rib for $37. This is made with Gremolata, Creamy Polenta, and Arugula. Red Wine-braised Beef Short Rib The polenta was delicious, and the flavor of the short rib was good, but we thought it could’ve been more layered. The wine didn’t come through as much as it could have, and we would have loved to have tasted the flavor developed a little more. Admittedly, the short rib’s meat was a little dry on the inside. The added granola and arugula on top helped liven up the dish, but they didn’t do as much to help out as we had liked — we think they needed more of both to balance out the richness. A closer look That said, the portion was solid, and the creamy, cheesy polenta really was good! We also snagged the Off-Menu Plant-Based Piccata for $15.49. Off Menu Plant-Based Picata It was packed with fresh vegetables that our server told us were grown at The Land Pavilion in our beloved Living with the Land attraction. The sauce was more of a butter, garlic, and lemon situation—so there was no creamy consistency at all, which we were fine with. Overall, we thought it was really, really delicious. The pasta wasn’t al dente, but it was perfectly soft with just enough bite. The mix of vegetables was impressive—broccoli, onion, artichoke, capers, zucchini, and squash. You need to add this to your wish list We’re big fans of the plant-based Bolognese here, but we’d certainly order this one almost every visit since it was light, fresh, and genuinely cool knowing the veggies came directly from Living with the Land. Then it was finally time for dessert, so we ordered the Plant-based Olive Oil Cake for $11. This is made with blueberry preserves and blackberry gelato. Plant-Based Olive Oil Cake This was our reporter’s favorite thing he ate all night! It’s actually now his new favorite fruit dessert at Disney World, and he couldn’t think of anything that even comes close to it. The cake was incredibly moist thanks to the olive oil, and it had an amazing plant-based whipped cream on top. There was a blueberry compote, fresh blackberries, and the blackberry gelato covering the cake. So fruity! If you love berries and intense fruit flavor in a dessert, this is it! Our server said she recommends it to any guest who wants something different from the tiramisu or the flourless chocolate torte, and that’s regardless of whether they’re plant-based or not. According to her, a lot of people love it and don’t even care that it’s plant-based, and we can totally see why! But we also grabbed the Chocolate Flourless Torte for $10, too. Ours came served with a kids’ scoop of gelato on the side for an extra $3. Chocolate Flourless Torte Our server told us that this is the hack—skip the full gelato portion and get the kid’s scoop instead. At just $3, it’s absolutely worth it. The torte itself was delicious—muted, cocoa-forward, not overly sweet. The marinated raspberries and whipped cream added great balance. Just the torte Honestly, the torte was good on its own, but the scoop of vanilla gelato added just enough moisture and creaminess to keep the chocolate from feeling too dense or overwhelming. It felt more like ice cream than gelato, but it worked, and we have no complaints. Nosh or Not This Disney World restaurant is a must-visit if… You’re a HUGE fan of Italian food. We’ve harped on this one, but the menu here ranks among the best in Italian offerings at Disney World. You like a repeatable restaurant and crave quality consistency when you try out new dishes. Plant-based diners will have no issues finding flavorful dishes to tingle their taste buds here! You should skip this Disney World spot if… You’re on a strict schedule that doesn’t include leaving the parks for even a moment. You’re more into buffets and family-style eats over an a la carte menu. Italian food just isn’t what you’re looking for flavor-wise. Overall Overall, this restaurant consistently proves it’s one that will win your heart (and flavor palate) over time and time again. It’s also refreshing to find a restaurant where most everything you’ll order here will be a hit for your taste buds to enjoy, so you don’t have to worry about sticking to a favorite each time you dine here and can rest easy switching up your order each time! Bon Appetit! In the meantime, we’ll be on the lookout for more restaurant updates from Disney World and beyond. Make sure you stay tuned to the Disney Food Blog for the latest Disney news and more! Riding the Monorail at Disney World can be magical—or mildly chaotic. Walt Disney World Monorail Sure, it’s one of the most iconic parts of the Disney transportation system, but let’s be real—crowds, heat, and the occasional long wait between trains can make the experience a little less “pixie dust” and a little more “please get me out of here.” The good news is, a few simple items can completely change the game. Today we’re breaking down nine things you can bring (or buy) that will make your ride on the Monorail 10x better. DISCLOSURE: This post may contain affiliate links, meaning when you click the links and make a purchase, we receive a commission. Earplugs or Noise-Canceling Headphones Disney is filled with joyful sounds—but sometimes you’re not in the mood for all of them. A crying toddler, a loud tour group, or that one guy taking a conference call can turn your peaceful Monorail ride into a mini headache. Earplugs are small enough to toss in your bag, and noise-canceling headphones can double as a way to catch up on your favorite playlist or podcast without interruption. ©Amazon View on Amazon Cooling Towel or Mini Portable Fan Most Monorail cars have air conditioning, but they aren’t always perfectly chilled—especially on packed days. If you’re coming from the park in the middle of a sweltering afternoon, stepping into a warm, crowded Monorail car can feel like standing in a humid greenhouse. A cooling towel around your neck or a small portable fan in your bag can make a huge difference until you get moving again. The 4-pack of cooling towels View on Amazon Small Travel Blanket This one’s for the people who always pack a sweater for movie theaters. Sometimes the air conditioning in the Monorail cars can be unexpectedly strong, especially if you’ve just gotten soaked on one of the water rides and you’re still drying off. A lightweight travel blanket can keep you cozy, give kids something to snuggle with, or even serve as an impromptu picnic blanket if you want to relax in a park later. ©Amazon View on Amazon Compact Travel Pillow If you’ve been going hard from rope drop to fireworks, those Monorail benches can start to look pretty inviting for a power nap. A compact travel pillow is easy to stash in your backpack and can make even a quick ride between parks feel like a mini reset. Bonus: it also makes the floor slightly less awful if a little one ends up sitting cross-legged. Donut Neck Pillow View on Amazon Portable Charger/Power Bank Between snapping castle photos, mobile ordering meals, and checking attraction wait times, your phone battery doesn’t stand a chance. The Monorail is the perfect spot to give it a quick boost, and having your own portable charger means you’re not scrambling for an outlet later. Opt for one that can fully recharge your phone at least twice—park days are long. INIU Portable Charger View on Amazon Reusable Water Bottle Dehydration sneaks up on you fast at Disney. Even if you’re just hopping between resorts or heading to EPCOT, keeping a reusable water bottle with you ensures you can sip while you ride. You’ll save money compared to buying bottled water every time, and many Disney resort hotels have water refill stations you can use before boarding. The Rapunzel Owala View on Amazon Small Fidget Toy If you’re traveling with kids, a Monorail ride can go from fun to “are we there yet?” in about two minutes. A small fidget toy can keep little hands busy, whether you’re doing a long loop or waiting for your stop. It works for adults too—sometimes a little distraction helps the ride feel faster. Daisy Fidget Toy Antibacterial Wipes or Hand Sanitizer Thousands of people touch those Monorail poles and seat edges every day. Having antibacterial wipes or sanitizer handy means you can quickly clean your hands after grabbing a spot or wipe down a seat before sitting. It’s a small thing that can make you feel a lot more comfortable. Moana hand sanitizer Sunglasses or Hat The Monorail windows are big, and if you end up near one on a sunny afternoon, that glare can be intense. Sunglasses keep you from squinting through the ride, and a hat can help keep the sun out of your eyes while you’re waiting on the platform. Bonus points if it’s a Disney-themed hat—it’s functional and on brand. Minnie Mouse Rayban Sunglasses Whether you’re doing a quick hop between Magic Kingdom and EPCOT or just riding the loop for fun, these little upgrades can make the Monorail experience way more enjoyable. Disney days are long, and the Monorail can be more than just transportation—it can be your mini break, your recharge zone, or even your cool-down spot before heading back into the magic. Pack a few of these items and you’ll be ready for anything. EPCOT Monorail Don’t want to go through all of the stress of booking your Disney World trip alone? We are obsessed with the Disney Cruise Line! ©Disney Over the last few years, the cruise line has expanded to include new ships like the Disney Treasure and Disney Wish. In 2025, they’re growing the fleet even more with the addition of two new ships, the Disney Destiny and Disney Adventure. While we are eagerly awaiting the new sailings, Disney is finally giving us a sneak peek at the new food coming to one of the ships this December! We are getting closer and closer to setting sail on the Disney Adventure! The brand-new addition to the Disney Cruise Line will take her maiden voyage out of Singapore on December 15th, 2025. Disney has called this ship the “biggest adventure yet,” featuring Disney, Pixar, and Marvel stories on board. ©Disney The ship will have seven themed areas and “be packed with immersive experiences and entertainment featuring beloved characters where families can create memories to last a lifetime… without ever leaving the ship!” Now, as we’re just a few months away from the maiden voyage, Disney is giving us a glimpse at what food we can expect to chow down on between adventures! First is the Jackfruit Masala Kosha Taco, which you can expect to find at the Enchanted Summer Restaurant. ©Disney Cruise Line It will feature tempered dahl and water chestnut black garlic raita. Enchanted Summer Restaurant will include Tangled and Frozen themes in a “cozy village dining hall.” Next, they teased the Laksa Lemak from Animator’s Palate! ©Disney Cruise Line This dish will feature prawn, tau pork, laksa leaf, and chili. Animation, Pixar, and Disney films will be showcased at Animator’s Palate, Animator’s Table, and Pixar Market Restaurant. Over at Mowgli’s Eatery, you can try the new Bread Curd Fire Roll – Dahi Je Sholay. ©Disney Cruise Line This will have cashew butter toast, dates, and a coriander chutney. Anyone else drooling? Mowgli’s will be a quick-service restaurant on the ship. If you’re looking for a fresh dish, you can try the Yellow Fin Tuna and Prawns Mumbai Bhel at Hollywood Spotlight Club. ©Disney Cruise Line It will have sweet corn, rice puffs, avocado, cilantro, aioli, and tamarind. Okay, this might be the one we’re anticipating the most! Hollywood Spotlight Club will be one of the ship’s rotational dining offers. This restaurant will feature the “traditions and glamour of the golden age.” It’ll have entertainment and appearances by Mickey, Minnie, Donald, and Daisy! The next dish Disney teased can be found at Mike & Sully’s Flavors of Asia. ©Disney Cruise Line It’s the Taraba Kani Chawanmushi! It will be made with tempura Alaska crab, egg custard, and yanagi matsutake mushroom. This is one of the premium dining options on the ship and will feature “four distinct experiences,” including a full-service Japanese steakhouse, a teppanyaki room, a bar with Omakase-style dining, and outdoor dining where you can enjoy sushi and sashimi. ©Disney If you need a little something sweet, swing over to the Animator’s Table for the Mickey Chocolate Tarte. This will have Valrhona chocolate fudge, chocolate ganache, and a florentine crunch. It’s probably safe to say that this one will be pretty rich! ©Disney Cruise Line We thought it couldn’t get any better until we spotted the Pure Blood Sanchoku Wagyu Striploin from Palo Trattoria! It will feature pink peppercorn, broccolini, and a yakiniku sauce. Palo Trattoria is the other premium dining option the ship. ©Disney Cruise Line Finally, they teased the Pacific Scallops from the Concierge Kitchen! It will have cremini-arborio, hazelnut, and sylvetta arugula. ©Disney Cruise Line We are seriously hungry after seeing all of the delicious pictures, and we can’t wait to see even more when the ship sets sail. The Disney Adventure will primarily offer 3 and 4-night voyages, so be ready to eat up! As always, be sure to keep following DFB for more Disney news and updates. Heads up if you’re heading to Magic Kingdom soon to see Disney’s newest nighttime parade, Disney Starlight, there’s some important news you need to know! Disney Starlight Currently, Disney Starlight plays each night at 9 PM and 11 PM, but soon, that’s going to change! You’ll need to plan accordingly, because these show times are moving UP. From now through August 30th, Disney Starlight will continue to have showtimes at 9 PM and 11 PM. ©Disney However, beginning August 31st and through as far as Disney World’s calendar goes right now, the shows will now take place at 8:30 PM and 10:30 PM! ©Disney This is due to the fact that the sun will begin setting earlier and earlier as summer turns into fall, and oftentimes park hours get a bit shorter in the parks overall. This very likely won’t be the last time we see these times change — as we get further into fall and winter, these times will likely change to earlier as well. Be sure to check your My Disney Experience App for the latest showtimes and news on the day(s) of your trips. Mickey! We personally love this new parade and all the magic it brings us. It’s full of nostalgia, incredible floats, wonderful music, and so much more. If you’re thinking of catching a showtime and want a really great spot, be sure to grab a spot at least an hour in advance, and AT LEAST twenty minutes ahead of time no matter what! According to Deadline, Snoop Dogg has made comments about Pixar’s 2022 Lightyear movie, which featured a same sex couple. ©Deadline Lightyear, the Toy Story spinoff, features LGBTQ+ characters and a same sex kiss scene. The film did not play in theaters in certain countries, such as Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Bahrain, Egypt, Kuwait, Oman, and Qatar. Snoop Dogg appeared on the It’s Giving Podcast, where he said he was scared to bring his grandchildren to the movie theaters over themes and ideas shown in movies. ©Disney+ On the podcast, he said, “What you see is what you see, and they’re putting it everywhere. They’re like, ‘She had a baby — with another woman.’ Well, my grandson, in the middle of the movie, is like, ‘Papa Snoop? How can she have a baby with a woman? She’s a woman!'” ©Pixar He then said he didn’t come in to deal with these subjects but just wanted to watch a movie. He continued to say that he was scared to go to the movies because it would throw him into the middle of themes he didn’t have an answer for. He also said, “What part of the movie was this? These are kids. We have to show that at this age? They’re going to ask questions. I don’t have the answer.” ©Pixar When Disney released the movie in 2022, they had a same-sex kiss scene but removed it. They ended up putting it back into the movie before the release. ©Pixar Earlier this year, Disney pulled a transgender storyline from Pixar’s Wine or Lose TV show. The show was a Disney+ original, and each episode focused on a different player of the co-ed middle school softball team. A Disney spokesperson said, “When it comes to animated content for a younger audience, we recognize that many parents would prefer to discuss certain subjects with their children on their own terms and timelines,’ according to The Hollywood Reporter. ©Pixar Elio, another Pixar movie, which was released in 2025, was originally supposed to feature LGBTQ+ themes, coming from the film’s original director, Adrian Molina, who is an openly gay filmmaker. These scenes ended up being cut and altered to have the storyline be “more masculine,” according to the Hollywood Reporter. Molina left the project in 2024. ©Disney Make sure you keep following the Disney Food Blog for more Disney news. If you’re heading to Disneyland Resort soon, there are so many different dining options to try! Centrico Especially if you’re heading to Downtown Disney, which is the shopping and dining district located close to the parks. We realized it had been a while since we’d been to Céntrico, a popular table service spot in the area, and figured it was time to try out some new eats. As it turns out, nothing has changed — this restaurant is INCREDIBLE and we need people to stop sleeping on it! Céntrico is an open-air Mexican restaurant and bar from Michelin-starred Chef Carlos Gaytán, and you’ll need to make a reservation to dine here, but thankfully, they’re not hard to get during the week. We didn’t have any trouble getting a reservation for ourselves, especially since we were able to sit at the bar! Centrico To start, we grabbed the Smokey Paloma Cocktail for $17, which is made with Mezcal 33 Joven, Fever-Tree grapefruit, lime juice, grapefruit juice, and agave. Smokey Paloma Cocktail This was delicious and very well-balanced, though it is certainly grapefruit-forward. You’ve got some sweetness from the agave, as well as lots of smokiness from the mezcal, so you’ve got to be a fan of both! Consider us big fans! Our appetizer was the Avocado Flatbread for $18, which is made with ricotta cheese, avocado, preserved Meyer lemons, salsa macha, serrano, and chives. Avocado Flatbread We’ll admit: with our first bite of this, we didn’t get the preserved Meyer lemons or the serrano, and we felt it was really missing the acidity. However, once we got that in every bite, we were huge fans! This isn’t a crispy flatbread; it’s a softer bread, so that’s something to keep in mind if you may be adverse to that texture. This is a REALLY big portion, so we think it could easily be used as a meal itself, or it’s best to share with 2-3 people. Delicious! Finally, our entree was the Chicken Mole Tacos for $23! These are made with mole negro, sour cream, queso fresco, sesame seeds, pickled red onion, and corn tortillas. Chicken Mole Tacos These were so good, they practically changed our reporter’s life. All the ingredients worked beautifully together — the meat was so tender, the mole sauce had a fantastic smoky sweetness to it, and the pickled red onions had a fantastic sharpness and tang that cut through the mole sauce. We also think the onions added a great crunch to the dish, which is great as a texture element since everything else is soft. We were in love! If you’re looking for a great spot to go for date night or a spot to get together with friends, we can’t recommend it enough! Looking for more recent Disneyland Resort news? Ride closures are never fun, but they’re part of how Disney keeps the magic alive. It’s closed! September is bringing some big refurbishment news to Magic Kingdom and EPCOT, and if you’ve got a trip planned, you’ll want to know what’s temporarily unavailable. Three rides are closed during the month, and while two of them will be back before long, one is going to be down for quite a while. Let’s walk through what you need to know so you don’t get caught off guard. Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin officially went dark on August 4th, 2025, and it won’t be reopening until sometime in 2026. This is not a quick touch-up — it’s a major overhaul of one of Tomorrowland’s most popular rides. Disney is calling this an “enhancement,” and based on the details Imagineers have shared, it’s shaping up to be a pretty big deal. Closed for Refurbishment First, there’s a brand-new character joining the story. “Buddy,” a friendly robot designed by Walt Disney Imagineering and Pixar, will greet guests as they prepare for their mission. Buddy’s job is to run through last-minute system checks and give riders a little boost of encouragement before takeoff. This addition also means you’ll get a chance to test your aim on interactive targets before the mission even begins. ©Disney The ride vehicles are also getting a major glow-up. The new design is inspired by Buzz Lightyear and Star Command, and each Star Cruiser will feature onboard video monitors. Those screens will show real-time scoring updates and a few extra surprises along the way. This is a huge step up from the current setup, where you have to squint at your score display on the dashboard. ©Disney Probably the most exciting change? Handheld blasters. No more awkwardly steering your blaster around while it’s bolted to the ride vehicle. Now, you’ll be able to pick it up, aim, and shoot with much more precision. The new handheld design also includes an always-on laser, so you’ll actually know where your shots are going. Kids in particular will find this makes the game a lot more fun, and the new lighting, sound, and vibration effects will add to the overall energy of the ride. ©Disney On top of all that, the classic “Z” targets are being replaced with interactive ones that light up and react when hit. Imagineers have already been testing out gameplay updates, and the goal is to make this ride feel more like an evolving video game than just a moving shooting gallery. It’s a long wait until 2026, but this refurbishment looks like it’ll be worth it for Space Ranger recruits. ©Disney Alternative: If you’re craving another Tomorrowland attraction while Buzz is closed, check out Space Mountain for a thrill or Astro Orbiter if you want a spinning ride with an awesome view. For a shooting-style game, Toy Story Mania at Hollywood Studios is the next-best option in Disney World. Dumbo the Flying Elephant Playground This closure isn’t quite as dramatic, but it will definitely matter for families with little ones. The indoor playground inside Dumbo the Flying Elephant’s queue is currently closed and will remain closed through at least September. Dumbo If you’ve never used it, this play area is basically a lifesaver for parents. While waiting for Dumbo, kids can run, climb, and slide in an air-conditioned indoor space, and parents get a buzzer that lets them know when it’s their turn to ride. It’s a rare chance to escape the Florida heat without having to give up your spot in line. Trust us — you’ll want to get into that tent Right now, Disney’s official note says that the playground is “expected to reopen later this year,” which means sometime in late 2025. Until then, families heading into the Dumbo queue will need to plan for a more traditional wait. Without the playground, the line loses that built-in entertainment factor that makes it so appealing for kids. Dumbo the Flying Elephant If Dumbo is a must-do on your trip this fall, keep in mind that you’ll be standing in a regular queue. You may want to time it for earlier in the morning or later at night when wait times are lower. Alternative: While the playground is closed, head to the Casey Jr. Splash ‘N’ Soak Station nearby to let kids burn off energy. You can also make use of The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh, which has an interactive queue with plenty of things for little ones to do while waiting. Big Thunder Mountain Railroad The last ride closure on the list is the one that stings the most: Big Thunder Mountain Railroad. “The Wildest Ride in the Wilderness” has been closed since January 6th, 2025, and it’s not scheduled to reopen until 2026. That means this classic Magic Kingdom coaster will be unavailable throughout September. Big Thunder Mountain Railroad Construction Disney hasn’t released many details about what’s changing, but this is clearly a massive project. The scale of the closure almost certainly ties into the larger construction happening nearby — including the upcoming Villains Land expansion and changes to the Rivers of America area. Big Thunder Mountain Railroad will eventually serve as a connection point between Liberty Square, Fantasyland, and the new land, so its refurbishment is a critical piece of that puzzle. Big Thunder Mountain construction What we do know is that Disney is promising “a little bit of new magic” when it reopens. That could mean updates to the ride vehicles, new effects inside the mountain, or enhanced storytelling. Whatever it looks like, it’s going to be a long time before we hear the familiar click-clack of those trains running again. Construction at Big Thunder Mountain Railroad Alternative: If you’re looking for another coaster to scratch that itch, Seven Dwarfs Mine Train offers a smoother but still fun experience. For more thrills, head across the park to Space Mountain or hop over to Animal Kingdom for Expedition Everest, which gives a similar outdoor runaway train vibe. Spaceship Earth Over in EPCOT, Spaceship Earth is also going offline for a while. The ride will be closing on August 25th, 2025, for what Disney is calling a “routine refurbishment,” and it’s expected to reopen later this year. EPCOT This is one of EPCOT’s most iconic attractions, taking guests on a slow-moving journey through the history of human communication. The closure shouldn’t last as long as some of the others, but it still impacts EPCOT’s ride lineup, especially since Spaceship Earth is the very first attraction you see when entering the park. Spaceship Earth! Disney hasn’t announced exactly what’s being worked on, but routine refurbishments usually focus on ride mechanics, lighting, and audio updates. So don’t expect a massive story overhaul — this one’s about keeping things running smoothly. Inside Spaceship Earth Alternative: While Spaceship Earth is closed, consider starting your EPCOT day at Soarin’ Around the World or Living with the Land for classic EPCOT vibes. If you’re looking for another iconic slow-moving ride, The Seas with Nemo & Friends gives you a similar calm, family-friendly experience. Thank the Phoenicians September might not be the month to hit every Disney World favorite, but knowing what’s closed can help you plan smarter. With Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin, Dumbo’s playground, Big Thunder Mountain Railroad, and Spaceship Earth all unavailable, it’s a good idea to shuffle your must-do list and have backups ready before you go. Stay tuned to DFB for more Disney updates. Did Disney Demolish the Liberty Square Riverboat After It CLOSED at Magic Kingdom? Will you be heading to Disney World in September?
