Brrr! If you’re in Florida right now, you might be feeling the cold weather blowing in. While anyone from a colder state with real snow might be saying, “It’s not that cold,” for us Floridians, we’re pulling out the winter jackets and knit caps. Typhoon Lagoon While a lot of activities in Disney World can be canceled for weather, we’re usually talking about storms! The lightning, rain, and wind can cancel fireworks, parades, and shut down your favorite outdoor attractions, but did you know the cold weather can shut down activities, too? Typhoon Lagoon, one of Disney World’s two water parks, is currently closed due to cold weather! The temperature for November 11th has a high of 59 and a low of 36 — that’s super cold for us! Humunga Cowabunga at Typhoon Lagoon Closures of the water parks due to weather are usually something that comes up on the day of or the day before, so you won’t necessarily be able to plan on skipping the water parks, but it’s a good idea to have a backup plan if you know you’re visiting during the colder months. Happy Landings All Disney World hotel guests get a free water park ticket on the day of their check-in, and while we recommend taking advantage of it, you might not be able to if it’s too chilly. Your hotel pool might still be open, and this could be a great time to check out the Christmas decorations at the different resorts. You can also head to Disney Springs for some shopping and food on your check-in day. Typhoon Lagoon Another option is to grab food at your resort and stay in for a movie day! If you’re paying the price of a Disney World hotel, you might as well take advantage of it as much as you can. You can also get extra blankets and snuggle up with some hot chocolate (Joffrey’s is my all-time favorite) from the coffee shops or quick-service locations in your hotel. Stitch at Typhoon Lagoon While Typhoon Lagoon is not planning to reopen today, Florida weather can change quickly, so it’s possible it will reopen tomorrow. Keep an eye on the hours listed for the water park, and you can also talk to the Cast Members at the front desk for any more information. Universal Orlando has changed A LOT in the last year. I’ve been visiting for over 30 years now, and with the possible exception of 1999 (when Islands of Adventure, CityWalk, and the first Universal hotel opened), there has never been a more transformative year in the resort’s history, thanks to the opening of Epic Universe and its three hotels. Wizarding Paris This massive expansion is changing everything about Universal Orlando, from how many days it takes to see everything on property, to how the transportation system works, and even the Holidays. That’s right, Christmas at Universal is about to get… Epic. In October of 2025, Universal confirmed that their Holiday festivities for 2025 would run from November 21st through January 4th, 2026. They confirmed that their parks would feature decor and festivities “inspired by beloved characters and seasonal traditions”, including select worlds at Epic Universe! WELCOME to Epic Universe! The Holiday decor will be immediately visible to guests entering the park, as Universal has confirmed that Celestial Park will be decked out in seasonal lighting and decorations that will complement the land’s “stunning architecture inspired by astronomical and mythological elements.” Perhaps unsurprisingly, the Epic Universe portal that will see the most Holiday decorations is the Wizarding World of Harry Potter: Ministry of Magic. In fact, decorations have already begun to go up… Do you think they were hung up with care? … in the park’s magical recreation of Paris. Love the gold! The Ministry of Magic joins Universal Orlando’s other two Wizarding World installations — Hogsmeade at Islands of Adventure and Diagon Alley at Universal Studios Florida — in getting into the Holiday spirit. The former will feature the Hogwarts Frog Choir… ahem… croaking out their takes on some seasonal songs, as the Magic of Christmas at Hogwarts Castle nighttime spectacular, which brings the beloved characters and stories of the Harry Potter movies to life in a breathtaking display of projection and special effects on Hogwarts Castle, while the latter will offer Holiday performances from Celestina Warbeck and the Banshees. A “Magical” Christmas All three Wizarding Worlds will feature Holiday decorations, treats like Warm Butterbeer, and exclusive seasonal merchandise. Christmas in Diagon Alley Beyond these Potter celebrations, there’s plenty more new and returning Holiday fun coming to Universal Orlando. As is tradition, Grinch-Mas is returning to Suess Landing at Islands of Adventure, including: The Grinchmas Who-liday Spectacular stage show. Meet & greet opportunities with The Grinch, as well as several Who characters. The new Who-ville Tree Lot, which features a collection of whimsical trees themed to various Dr. Seuss characters. The Grinch & Friends Character Breakfast at Circus McGurkus Cafe Stoo-pendous. This add-on experience is available on select dates beginning November 21st through January 4th, 2026, for $58.99 plus tax per adult and $32.99 plus tax per child (ages 3-9). Grinch-Mas! Over at Universal Studios Florida, Universal’s Holiday Parade featuring Macy’s is once again returning. The parade features larger-than-life balloons and floats – some directly from Macy’s’ famous Thanksgiving Day Parade – floating through the streets of Universal Studios Florida, along with appearances by the Minions from Illumination’s Despicable Me and some of your favorite characters from DreamWorks Animation’s Shrek and Madagascar films. It all culminates with the spectacular moment of lighting the park’s 80-foot Christmas tree. ©Universal CityWalk will feature seasonal drinks and offerings at various venues, including the space once occupied by the Red Coconut Club, which will transform into the Green and Red Coconut Club for the holiday season, complete with festive decorations, live entertainment and holiday cocktails. This year’s theme is the “Mistletoe Pines Ski Lodge,” where guests will enjoy nods to their favorite holiday songs. Upstairs, guests will encounter Earl the Squirrel, who has brought his usual chaos and charm to Earl’s Twelve Days of Christmas. Earl the Squirrel! Guests who want to experience as much of Universal’s Holiday offerings as possible may want to look into the Universal Holiday Tour. Offered from November 21st through January 3rd, 2026, the tour costs $79.99 per person plus tax, not including theme park admission. Annual and Seasonal Passholders can get a $10 discount per ticket. Last night, the Disney Destiny was officially christened during a sensational celebration at its year-round homeport, Port Everglades in Fort Lauderdale, FL. The waterfront concert-met-Disney-theater extravaganza was complete with live music, dazzling vocalists, and jaw-dropping drone effects in the night sky, while the ship itself became a canvas for scenic projections, all honoring the ship’s heroes-and-villains theme. Magic Kingdom Flag Retreat Ceremony Disney offers discounted tickets to their theme parks for veterans each and every day, allowing former veterans fantastic discounts. For example, the most expensive 2025 ticket for veterans costs $469, which is a 6-Day Disney Military Salute Ticket with Park Hopping included (4-day and 5-day tickets are also available with or without Park Hopper). If you’re thinking of traveling to Disney World or Disneyland in 2026, there’s a NEW ticket deal Disney has just announced for veterans that you won’t want to miss! 2026 is a very special year because it’s the 250th Anniversary of the United States of America, and to celebrate, Disney has just announced a new ticket deal for veterans. The new ticket is called the Disney Celebrates America Military Salute Ticket, and will be available for eligible U.S. service members and their families for just $499 per person plus tax. Disney World’s latest lounge — The Perch at the Grand Floridian Resort and Spa –– is officially open! Welcome to The Perch! Located in the Deluxe Resort’s lobby, The Perch pays tribute to the massive ornamental birdcage that once occupied the space where it sits, but also to the hotel’s overall Victorian Floridian resort theme. After having checked out The Perch during its soft opening on Saturday, we were also on hand for the bar’s official opening day, November 10th. First off, this bar is gorgeous. The Perch It fits right into the Grand Floridian’s aesthetic with beautiful wood carvings and Victorian-appropriate details, including mirrors, light fixtures, and even the barstools. The details on the bar definitely feel upscale, and you don’t even need to sit at the bar! You can also grab a drink from the bar and find a seat in the rest of the lobby if all the stools are full. Not a lot of seating at the bar Plus, we had it confirmed to us by a server that if you are waiting for your table to be ready at one of the hotel’s restaurants, you can even bring the drinks with you into the restaurant! A great option while you are waiting to be called in. The Perch Admittedly, it did feel a little weird having a bar in the lobby, but it makes the space feel more lively. Of course, this may change as the newness wears off, but it’s definitely true for now. The menu features two specialty cocktails: The Perch Menu The not-to-be-missed Sunshine State Rum Sazerac, which features Siesta Key Coffee Rum, Demerara, Absinthe Rinse, Peychaud’s Bitters, and lemon essence for $17.50…. Sunshine State Rum Sazerac …and the super-zesty $22 Floridian 75, which features Fords Gin, Florida Citrus Cordial, and lemon topped with Taittinger ‘La Francaise’ Brut Champagne. Floridian 75 There’s also the $8 non-alcoholic Blueberry and Basil Iced Tea… Blueberry and Basil Iced Tea … a full wine list… The Perch Wine List (We tried a glass of the Bodegas Chacra ‘Barda’ Pinot Noir, Patagonia, Argentina. It has a deep red cherry flavor with a bit of juicy and sweet notes. You get a bit of tartness, but nothing too overpowering. I would say it has lots of red fruit flavors and tastes smooth on the tongue, all of which made it a great wine to sip on while relaxing in the lobby!) Bodegas Chacra ‘Barda’ Pinot Noir …and three locally brewed beers – 3 Daughters Beach Blonde Ale from St. Petersburg, Florida, Funky Buddha Floridian Hefeweizen from Oakland Park, Florida, and Cigar City Jai Alai IPA, Tampa, Florida, available for $11.75 each. The Perch As of now, the menu is constrained to those items with no hidden cocktails or other items. However, we’re hoping this will change as the operations of the bar become more streamlined. We’re FINALLY aboard the Disney Destiny, Disney Cruise Line‘s newest ship, and we’re overwhelmed (in the best way) by how much there is to explore! We’re on the Disney Destiny! We’re taking you along with us as we explore all the decor on the ship, as well as the restaurants, entertainment, and everything in between, because we’ve NEVER seen theming like this before on a Disney cruise! The theme on the Destiny is Heroes and Villains, and when you board the ship, you’ll need to pick a side. Not only can you meet tons of heroes and villains onboard, as well as check out offerings inspired by both, but the staterooms are even designed to be inspired by them.
