This week we’re happy to share another look inside Pandora – The World of Avatar, which is currently under construction at Disney’s Animal Kingdom. Our friends at Walt Disney Imagineering just shared another video on the construction of this new land, which is set to open May 27, 2017. In this video, several members of the Pandora project team explain just how important research has been in bringing Pandora – The World of Avatar to life. Culture plays a huge part in the park’s other lands, like Asia and Africa. Therefore, researching a realistic culture that would exist on Pandora has been a priority. In addition to culture, placemaking has also extended to designing what guests will hear when they enter the new land. What should guests hear in the natural environment of Pandora? To learn more, check out the video below. See the post below for more All in the Details of Pandora – The World of Avatar: All in the Details: How Pandora – The World of Avatar Will Continue the Values of Disney’s Animal Kingdom View the full article

GOOD MORNING from Magic Kingdom! Learn About: Joffrey's Revive Magic Kingdom Disney World Restaurants Of course, it’s pretty much always a good morning when you’re in Disney World. But if you’re in Magic Kingdom’s Tomorrowland, the mornings are even brighter thanks to the arrival of the brand new Joffrey’s Revive Coffee Kiosk! Tucked next to the Tomorrowland Stage where you can sometimes find the Mr. and Mrs. busting a move at the #INCREDIBLESSuperDanceParty, the newest Joffrey’s Kiosk is the first in the Magic Kingdom. (Until now, the closest kiosks to Magic Kingdom have been at the Ticket and Transportation Center and the Contemporary Resort.) There are two things you can count on with a visit to a Joffrey’s kiosk in Disney World: one, fun theming to perfectly match its suroundings. And two: a good cup of coffee (or tea, if you prefer). Joffrey’s Revive sign We’re here to check out both. So, Blast Off with us to Tomorrowland to hang out and caffeine up at the new Joffrey’s Revive! Atmosphere As anticipated, Joffrey’s Revive fits right in its new Tomorrowland home. Joffrey’s Revive The retro-futuristic dome top and color scheme to match and complement the nearby Tomorrowland Transit Authority (WEDway People Mover), help Joffrey’s Revive to have a familiar feel, even as a brand new addition. Joffrey’s Revive While all Joffrey’s kiosks around Disney World are small and basic window order operations, it’s always fun to see how well they blend in with their location. Joffrey’s Revive Window This new kiosk is no exception. Short, but sweet! Now, let’s grab a cup o’ joe! Eats If it’s coffee you’re after, you’ve come to the right place. The key items on the menu are specialty espresso beverages, but tea drinkers will find options here as well. Joffrey’s Revive Menu A quick glance also reveals the Seasonal Specialties, which currently include the Dreamscicle Iced Latte, Island Swizzle Iced Tea, and the Dulce de Leche Iced Latte. You can doctor up any beverage to your taste with the sweeteners and cream selections available at the counter. Sugars and Cream Sweeteners An assortment of pastries is also up for grabs, with cookies, twists, croissants, and fritters. And, of course, several Big Ol’ Donut King Donuts. Pastry Selection Pastry Selection So, as you can see, the offerings here match those at the Joffrey’s Coffee Kiosks in Hollywood Studios, Animal Kingdom, and Epcot, but with two exceptions. First, you won’t find any options to add alcohol to your beverage as you will find in several other park locations, in keeping with all snack and Counter Service locations at the Magic Kingdom. And second, Joffrey’s Revive is the only home to an exclusive Tomorrowland beverage: the Mission to S’mores Latte! Mission to S’mores Latte sign And of you trip up because you’re in Tomorrowland and ask for a “Mission to Mars Latte” instead, I’m sure the Cast Member assisting you will understand :). It’s a fun little nod. Like all the other espresso drinks, you can choose to have your Mission to S’mores Latte served hot or iced, and the key ingredient is artisan roasted espresso. But “Joffrey’s Beverage of Tomorrow” is mixed with chocolate sauce and Mars-mallow (ha!) syrup, and uniquely topped with whipped cream, graham cracker “space sprinkles,” and more Mars-mallows. Mission to S’mores Latte Yep, that’s whipped cream AND marshmallows — not just one or the other. Because Joffrey’s understands. Mission to S’mores Latte Toppings This is one of those unapologetic, hey-it’s-vacation, let’s-have-dessert-for-breakfast drinks. And once you get through all those toppings, you’re left with a rich espresso sweetened by the chocolate sauce (this one’s also sweeter than your typical specialty drink due to the addition of marshmallow syrup). Plus, there’s an added caffeine bonus to prepare you for the very short jaunt over to Space Mountain. Mission to S’mores Latte And don’t worry — if that doesn’t exactly float your boat as a day starter, you can always come back for it as an afternoon pick-me-up, or choose whichever other boost that boosts you the best! (Umm... can you tell I’ve had some caffeine here? ) Overall Welcome, Joffrey’s, to the Magic Kingdom at long last! I’m all for having more coffee options at the parks; not only for when the lines at the in-park Starbucks are super long (that’s Main Street Bakery, if you’re in Magic Kingdom), but also to have another choice to meet different coffee tastes and preferences. So remember Revive the next time you’re in need of an energy lift during a fun — but always wonderfully full! — day in the Magic Kingdom! Will you be paying a visit to Joffrey’s Revive? Today, I am pleased to share details surrounding the exciting renovation currently underway at Disney’s Grand Californian Hotel & Spa at the Disneyland Resort! The most extensive refurbishment since its opening, Walt Disney Imagineering has developed an impressive plan that not only elevates the premium hotel experience, but also brings a modern approach to the Arts & Crafts design style. The hotel-wide refresh will include reimagining all guest rooms, pool areas and the concierge-level Craftsman Club as well as new furniture for the lobby. Recently named a AAA Four Diamond hotel by the Automobile Club of Southern California for the sixteenth year in a row, Disney’s Grand Californian Hotel & Spa opened in 2001 as a deluxe retreat capturing the romantic spirit of California’s Arts & Crafts movement in the early 20th century. For our first sneak peek, here’s a closer look at the enhancements to the guest rooms: Guest rooms will be completely redesigned to create a fresh sense of luxury. Every single element will be new—from the floors and walls to the furnishings, beddings and linens as well as upgraded bathrooms. Upon entry, you’ll notice hardwood flooring transition into soft, bright-toned carpeting. The room decor is a contemporary take on the Arts & Crafts style featuring all-new furniture made of natural oak, specially designed for each room, as well as California-inspired artwork created by artists and Imagineers, including beautiful headboard walls with wood inlay designs featuring orange trees and Chip ‘n Dale! Guests with a sharp eye will catch other uniquely Disney details throughout these newly refreshed rooms. Refurbishments are well underway at Disney’s Grand Californian Hotel & Spa and guests will begin enjoying the first phase of refreshed guest rooms soon. The multi-phase roll-out is expected to be completed by the end of 2017. Stay tuned for more updates and progress on the other hotel elements Disney Parks Blog! View the full article

With a kick-off that’s less than 10 days away, now is the time to mark your calendar and make plans to take part in the most authentic St. Patrick’s Day celebration in Central Florida: The Mighty St. Patrick’s Festival at Raglan Road Irish Pub and Restaurant at Disney Springs. (I’d suggest you circle the dates—March 16-19, 2017—in green pen!) The team at Americas #1 Irish Pub takes the holiday seriously and recently shared their top tips on how to “celebrate like the Irish:” Please don’t call the holiday “St. Patty’s.” It’s either “St. Patrick’s Day” or “St. Paddy’s.” A shamrock has three leaves (not four – that would be a clover). Americans invented the St. Patrick’s Day parade in 1737 in Boston. Most Irish pubs do a full month’s business on St. Patrick’s Day. Guinness sells 13 million pints on St. Patrick’s Day versus the usual 5 million daily. Green beer is an American invention. Raglan Road does not serve green beer. Though green beer isn’t on the menu, a full line-up of entertainment is on tap, along with a mighty selection of beers, spirits and craft cocktails served alongside exceptional Irish fare. New to the Raglan Road stage this year, the Young Dubliners will bring their hearty rock and Irish-infused tunes to the celebration, as will the Byrne Brothers, featuring brothers Luca, 12, Finn, 10, and Dempsey, 7; expect them to dazzle the audience with fun interactions during their sets. Rounding out the entertainment schedule are HanaLena Band, The Raglan Roots Coalition, Swingin’ On the Gate, Rollickin’ Rua and the Raglan Road Irish Dancers. For the full entertainment listing, visit raglanroad.com. On the food and beverage front, guests can order from popular brunch, lunch, bar and dinner menus, including loin of bacon and cabbage, the authentic Irish dish of St. Patrick’s Day. My favorite continues to be the pub’s fish and chips, which will be available throughout the weekend in the main dining room as well as at the nearby Cooke’s of Dublin Counter-service eatery. Pair your selection with Guinness, the new Mighty Festival brew (a collaboration with the local Orange Blossom Brewing Co.) or a Bailey’s Shake for the perfect combo. Irish holiday attire is encouraged, but for those who need an extra dose of shamrock flair, complimentary face painting will be available from noon – 8 p.m. daily during the festival. Please note: On March 17, St. Patrick’s Day, guests will be seated on a first-come, first-served basis with a cover charge of $10 for each guest age 18 and older. To make reservations for other festival days, call 407-938-0300. The festivities take place from 11 a.m. until 2 a.m. March 16-19, 2017. Will you be celebrating at Raglan Road this St. Patrick’s Season? If so, share your photos with us on Twitter and Instagram using hashtag #DisneySprings for your chance to be featured on our social media feeds. Sláinte! View the full article

Each year, Disney cast members volunteer to bring a bit of Disney magic to children undergoing treatment in hospitals all around the world. It’s a part of our heritage dating back to the 1930s, when Walt himself took Disney characters and animators on outreach visits. This commitment continues today through a number of programs, including the annual distribution of themed care packages delivered to more than 400 children’s hospitals in the U.S. and Canada. Last month, Disney VoluntEARS from Disneyland Resort and Walt Disney World Resort delivered packages of toys, games, books and movies to patients at the Children’s Hospital of Orange County (CHOC) and Nemours Children’s Hospital. For the first time, these included exciting new merchandise featuring characters from Star Wars and Marvel – even an exclusive Marvel mini-comic created in partnership with the Association of Child Life Professionals showcasing the strength of friendship. The deliveries are an annual tradition, but they’re just a small part of what our cast members do to support children throughout the year. Here’s a look at some of the ways our amazing cast brought smiles to young patients last month. Cast from our Animals, Science and Environment department hosted interactive animal encounters as part of a monthly program at three hospitals in Central Florida, teaching children how we take care of the residents of Disney’s Animal Kingdom. In California, VoluntEARS hosted special games and activities at local hospitals, supporting the healing process with a bit of fun. In China, cast members helped transform the Shanghai Children’s Hospital of Fudan University’s inpatient area into a Chinese New Year celebration, delivering winter vests, blankets, thermoses and hundreds of handwritten postcards with well wishes for the New Year. VoluntEARS from Disneyland Paris made a surprise visit with Mickey and Minnie Mouse to the pediatric department of Robert Ballanger Intercommunal Hospital Center, where they led patients in making fun balloon animals. Walt’s legacy also lives on in the Company’s 36-year partnership with the Make-A-Wish Foundation, making more than 9,000 wishes come true each year, of which 7,900 are granted by Walt Disney Parks and Resorts. To learn more about citizenship efforts at Walt Disney Parks and Resorts, visit our website and keep an eye out for more stories about our Disney VoluntEARS on the Disney Parks Blog. Have you seen “Rivers of Light” yet? The show is a celebration of the beauty, fragility and wild unpredictability of animals and nature that’s told using live performers, Animal Spirit Guide floats, fire, water and projections. But did you know that “Rivers of Light” also features remarkable moments of animals in the wild, as seen in Disneynature films? Moments from Monkey Kingdom, Bears, African Cats and Born in China – which hits theaters for Earth Day 2017 – are all featured. According to the show’s project team, partnering with Disneynature really helped bring the show’s animals to life. And the Disneynature team, who has spent so much time with these animals during production for their own films, were delighted to see the animals they care for be celebrated in a whole new way. “Most of the animals that we are watching out there out on the big water displays we’ve spent two or three years of our lives with,” said Disneynature Director Mark Linfield. “They became like close friends and seeing them in this new context…across these huge sheets of water is really something I think only Disney could’ve done.” Disneynature Alastair Fothergill agrees. “For me, the best bit of ‘Rivers of Light’ is it seemed to me like the most extraordinary family album. All the great stars of Disneynature were there and for the first time we could share them with the guests at Disney’s Animal Kingdom.” Learn more about the collaboration with Disneynature in the videos above. May 27, 2017, marks the opening day of an entire new land in Disney’s Animal Kingdom: Pandora – The World of AVATAR! Pandora Concept Art ©Disney Of course, that also means that the land’s main restaurant, Satu’li Canteen, and drink station, Pongu Pongu, will open on May 27th as well. And today, we have new details regarding these upcoming dining and drinking experiences! Satu’li Canteen Concept Art ©Disney Pongu Pongu Concept Art ©Disney Let’s start with Satu’li Canteen, which – according to the restaurant’s brand new page on the Disney website – will be a “Fast Casual” location. Satu’li Canteen Page Screenshot from Disney World website A few other restaurants (including D-Luxe Burger and Be Our Guest Restaurant) receive the Fast Casual label from Disney World, so we’re guessing that Satu’li Canteen will be the “order your stuffs at a counter and they’ll bring it to your table” kind of place. (And I’d say pay no mind to the “Dining Plans Not Accepted” note just yet; this isn’t unusual when a page is newly listed. We’re pretty sure this spot will take quick service dining credits eventually.) The setting of Satu’li Canteen is a former RDA (Resources Development Administration) Mess Hall located inside a Quonset-hut structure. These days, the Canteen offers a peaceful dining experience for travelers to Pandora and is run by Alpha Centauri Expeditions (ACE). Satu’li Canteen Page Screenshot from Disney World website Though a full menu does not appear on the website yet, it states that guests will “discover healthful dishes and familiar flavors from another world—wholesome grains, fresh vegetables and hearty proteins.” And Disney specifically mentions “international-inspired cuisine, vegetarian options and specialty libations.” We have known for some time that Pongu Pongu – Pandora’s upcoming drink stand – is said to be run by an expatriot who paid a visit to Pandora and decided to stay. Pongu Pongu Page Screenshot from Disney World website From the language on Disney’s website, it seems you may even be able to meet this expat on your visit! “Hike to the corner of Windtraders (Editor’s Note: a shop in Pandora) where you’ll find Pongu Pongu—when you spot a friendly expat serving out-of-this-world drinks, you’ve come to the right place.” Pongu Pongu Page Screenshot from Disney World website Pongu Pongu, which means “Party, Party” in the Na’vi language, will feature a “bioluminescent frozen cocktail” (read: $4.99 light-up ice cube) and “indigenous beers,” along with a bite of something sweet that will be exclusive to the location. We seem to get a tiny glimpse of the treat from the thumbnail image in the screenshot above. Again, no menu yet, but that sounds pretty promising to me! So, which location are YOU most excited about? I don’t think I can decide just yet, but you know DFB will be there as soon as they open! Pandora Construction signs How about you?
