Today we’re kicking off the week on the Disney Parks Blog with an adorable Disney Doodle that features three brothers – Huey, Dewey and Louie – looking for a fun way to cool off. Learn About: San Angel Inn Restaurante Epcot Restaurants Disney World Restaurants Because in addition to selling awesome Cupcakes and Frosting Shots and Cookie/Brownie Ice Cream Sandwiches, for the month of July, Sprinkles is also serving up truly refreshing Moscow Mule Mocktail Floats! That’s right. We’ve all come to know and love Sprinkles in Disney Springs, with its cheerful decor and hyper-cool Cupcake ATM. But we’ve discovered that it’s so much more than a sunny place to grab a cupcake. In fact, we’ve devoured just about everything on the menu with reckless abandon, stopping in to see what’s new in the dessert case and on the menu every chance we get. Because Sprinkles is always cooking up (or churning out!) something new and interesting. Back in May, they offered a Margarita Cupcake, which we thoroughly enjoyed. So when we saw that they were offering Moscow Mule Mocktail Floats, we ordered one STAT! Sprinkles Cast Members Making Magic The Moscow Mule Mocktail Float starts with two large scoops of Vanilla Bean Ice Cream (which, well, that’s the best way to start most things). They’re packed into a Sprinkles To-Go cup, which is a decent size. Cast Member Building the Float The ice cream is topped off with a Moscow Mule mixer. This one is made by Owen’s, a company out of New York City. Moscow Mule Mixer The Ginger + Lime Owen’s Mixer is non-alcoholic and carbonated, bringing some bubbles to the ice cream. As with nearly all floats, it’s a match made in heaven. Owen’s Craft Mixers And the flavor? Totally, totally, 100% terrific. Maybe it’s the real juice of lime and pure cane sugar that they use, but it’s bangin’! Moscow Mule Components The flavor being so potent, it’s gotta be good — and it so is. But because it’s a mocktail, you want it to taste like a classic Moscow Mule, and this mixer is very similar to ginger beer. But those bubbles… they create some serious foam. Float away on this one! The vanilla bean ice cream is a perfect accompaniment to the mixer. And because that initial pour of the Owen’s doesn’t empty the bottle, you get to take the rest with you to keep topping off your drink. It’s refreshing and fun new flavor profile! Moscow Mule Mocktail The Moscow Mule Mocktail Float is a specialty item to celebrate National Ice Cream Month (wait — what about the other eleven months?), so you can only get this through July 31. But if you’re in the vicinity of Sprinkles at any time this month, go get this drink. It’s $8.00 very well spent! Moscow Mule Mocktail Magic! The only thing that could possibly make it better? This week, we continued sharing some great summertime experiences at Disney Parks, including details on our newest “must-see” show at the Walt Disney World Resort – “Disney Movie Magic. ” Each night this summer at Disney’s Hollywood Studios, “Disney Movie Magic” is transforming the iconic Grauman’s Chinese Theatre at Disney’s Hollywood Studios with special lighting and state-of-the-art projection mapping technology to put you right in the middle of a celebration of Disney films. Sweet on You is one of the newest (and sweetest!) additions to the Disney Fantasy unveiled earlier this summer. More than just an ice cream shop, it’s your one-stop spot for all things sweet. Themed after iconic Mickey Mouse cartoon shorts, and designed with charming art details, Sweet on You features hand-crafted gelato, ice-cream and chocolates, specialty sundaes, truffles and a large selection of candy for purchase. After enjoying a weeklong vacation on the Disney Fantasy, it’s likely you’ll want to make some of these sweet treats at home to keep satisfying that sweet tooth. Over the next few weeks, I’ll be sharing recipes for my favorite Sweet on You desserts, starting today with chocolate dipped marshmallows that are as fun to make as they are to eat. Chocolate Dipped Marshmallows Makes 10 marshmallow sticks Ingredients: 30 large marshmallows 1 cup dark chocolate ½ cup white chocolate 10 lollipop sticks Suggested toppings: Skittles Mini gummy bears Petite mints Mini river rocks candy Mini Oreo cookies Directions: 1. Place three marshmallows on each lollipop stick. 2. Melt the dark chocolate on the stove or in the microwave, stirring every minute so the chocolate melts evenly. 3. Dip the marshmallows into the melted chocolate and place on parchment paper to set. Repeat for all 10 sticks. 4. Melt the white chocolate and drizzle it over the marshmallow sticks. 5. Add toppings immediately after drizzling the white chocolate. If the white chocolate sets before you add all of the toppings, dip the toppings in the melted chocolate and place on the marshmallow. Do you remember our recent trip to the new Market at Ale & Compass Counter Service and grab-and-go location in Disney’s Yacht Club Resort? The Market at Ale & Compass Well, that isn’t the only change we can expect in regards to dining at the Yacht Club! First: you may already be aware that Captain’s Grille is currently closed for a refurbishment. But it seems that the changes will result in much more than your typical refurb. The Grille will reopen with a whole new feel AND a new name! Look for the re-imagined Ale & Compass Restaurant (part of the overall Ale & Compass concept) to present a “gastropub ambience” and offer “New England-inspired comfort food” for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. ©Disney The atmosphere will also feature an on-stage hearth oven in a room reminiscent of a lighthouse. And it has already been verified that the updated spot will operate as a Table Service restaurant on the Disney Dining Plan. But, wait… there’s more! The Ale & Compass lobby lounge will also undergo a transformation of its own with a new interior and expanded seating for 58 guests. Recently I told you about how our friends over at Disney Golf were adding a little more Disney magic to the golf experience at our Walt Disney World Resort golf courses with new Disney-themed golf clubs. Well, they are back at it again, this time rolling out new refreshment carts themed around beloved Disney characters. At our Palm, Magnolia, and Oak Trail courses, you’ll see refreshment carts with designs inspired by Mickey, Minnie and Goofy, and at the Lake Buena Vista course there’ll be a Mickey-inspired cart. Check out these images of the carts: The character-themed refreshment carts are a result of Disney Golf’s ongoing efforts to continually explore fun ways to enhance the overall guest experience during play. As a result, in addition to the roving Disney-themed carts, the courses will each have fixed food & beverage outlets at the course. So the next time you’re on the links at Disney and you want a bite to eat or something to drink, look for the Disney-themed refreshment carts. Reservations open July 11 for three ways to ring in the New Year at Disney’s Contemporary Resort, part of the Enchanting Extras Collection, which gives guests “can’t-miss” experiences that enhance the Walt Disney World experience. For an evening of dining and dancing, “Disney Countdown to Midnight” includes delightful dining, live music, libations and more. An interactive band and DJ will fill the dance floor (and we hear that Mickey and Minnie may make a special appearance). Then welcome in 2018 with a flute of bubbly and a viewing of those legendary New Year’s Eve fireworks in the Magic Kingdom. Hours are 8 p.m. to 1 a.m. in the Fantasia Ballroom. This party is designed for guests 18 and older. “Pixar Party: A New Year’s Eve Celebration” is for children of all ages, a family-friendly way to ring in the New Year with a Disney•Pixar-inspired dinner. Sarge welcomes you to the Ballroom of the Americas that features vignettes of beloved Pixar movies. From Andy’s Room in “Toy Story” to and Metro City with The Incredibles, the immersive celebration will include theatrical backdrops, dramatic set pieces and fun props that re-create the fantastic worlds of the Pixar films. And, of course, favorite characters will be on hand from “Toy Story,” “The Incredibles,” “Cars” and “Up.” Kids can have fun at Pixar face painting, a balloon artist and a boot camp with Sarge, while an interactive DJ will spin hits from Radio Disney (he’s going to be in a “Cars”-inspired DJ rig from Radiator Springs). Dinner is buffet style. At midnight, head outdoors to ring in the New Year with a viewing of the Magic Kingdom fireworks. Hours are 8 p.m.-12:15 a.m. Fine dining is the theme of the third party, “Down in New Orleans: A Disney New Year’s Eve Dining Experience” in the Grand Republic Ballroom. Inspired by the Disney animated film “The Princess and the Frog,” the room is beautifully decorated French Quarter style to transport you to the Big Easy. Actions stations will feature flavors such as oyster beignets, smoked salmon mousse cones with caviar, Kobe beef tartare and sheep’s milk ricotta gnocchi. Signature dishes will include herb-crusted Louisiana redfish, crayfish etouffee, Balck Angus beef cooked two ways, braised short ribs and filet of beef with truffled celery root silk. A N’awlins jazz band will entertain during dinner, joined later in the evening by a vocalist who will bring to life the Academy-Award-winning classics from the film. Then slip outside with a glass of bubbly just before midnight to ring in 2018 with a private viewing area for the Magic Kingdom fireworks. Look for a Gourmet Apple, Crispy Treat and Marshmallow Wand – each enrobed in sweet milk chocolate, rolled in chocolate cookie pieces, drizzled with dark chocolate and peanut butter, and topped with chopped roasted peanuts. A new specialty cupcake is now available from the pastry chefs at Disney’s Contemporary Resort! Look for a vanilla cupcake with blueberry filling and a cinnamon-blueberry buttercream frosting, topped with sprinkles and white chocolate shavings, available until July 29. Cupcakes can be found in the grab-n-go section of Contempo Café! New little loves have landed at Amorette’s Patisserie in Disney Springs – Sunday Coffee, Crème Brûlée, an Exotic Fruit Parfait with layers of coconut, raspberries and passion fruit and a Blueberry Lemonade pastry, with blueberry mousse, coconut dacquoise, white glacage, fresh blueberries and coconut. Also at Disney Springs, Sprinkles Cupcakes will be offering some sweet new specials during July! Look for a lemon-blueberry cupcake, which features a lemon cake bursting with wild blueberries and a lemon-cream cheese frosting. There are also a couple sweet new ice cream treats! The Market at Ale & Compass is the first step in a major re-imagining of dining at Disney’s Yacht Club Resort, including a re-imagined lobby lounge and new concept for the former Captain’s Grille. The airy, new market offers a small merchandise area (which is set to open later this month) and 28 seats for casual dining. With both made-to-order and grab ‘n go, you can start the day with an egg white wrap, spinach and feta pastry, or sticky bun. Lunch and dinner include specialties such as grilled paninis, ham and Cheddar on a pretzel roll and a veggie sandwich with roasted broccoli and garlic, kale, almond, golden raisins and cheese on a whole-grain baguette. A grab ‘n go selection offers sandwiches, salads and other eats, including kid-friendly items. For sips, there’s a Coca-Cola Freestyle Machine, beer and wine, and a specialty drinking station that offers both specialty coffees and smoothies. A whole new Ale & Compass concept debuts at Disney’s Yacht Club Resort in October, when the lobby lounge is transformed with a new interior and expands to 58 seats, offering a new menu of classic cocktails and light bites. But the biggest change is the adjacent Captain’s Grille, which becomes Ale & Compass Restaurant. The Ale & Compass Restaurant menu is still in the works, but the re-imagined restaurant will have a gastropub ambience with New England-inspired comfort food, open for breakfast, lunch and dinner. An on-stage hearth oven is the focal point. Décor is inspired by the cozy warmth of a lighthouse, as a comforting respite from the outside world.
