  12. A few weeks ago, I shared a sneak preview of two new Dooney & Bourke collections being released this month at Disney Parks. Today, I’m excited to share additional details about a release party being held on July 22 in the Marketplace Co-Op at Disney Springs. We will release two new collections, and guests can meet Ian Ray, Creative Director for Dooney & Bourke from 10:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. that day. I spoke with Angelique Vu, Merchandise Product Developer for Accessories, about her favorite new design. “I love the Princess Tiana tote,” exclaimed Angelique. “This is the second release in our ‘Dream Big, Princess’ collection which followed the ‘Beauty and the Beast’-inspired collection from earlier this year. The new tote contains a beautiful engineered design meaning the Princess Tiana image will appear the same on all totes we release. Guests will also find a repeating pattern on the top and bottom of the tote, and a specially designed leather hangtag.” Artwork for the Princess Tiana handbags was created by Paola Gutierrez, Senior Graphic Designer with Disney Consumer Products and Interactive Media Creative Group. In addition to the Tote, a Crossbody and Foldover Crossbody will also be available. Paola also designed three handbags – Shopper, Lettercarrier, and Wristlet – inspired by The Haunted Mansion attraction. These purple handbags include images of Madame Leota and other icons from this classic Disney attraction. The Madame Leota design will also appear on a limited release retail MagicBand. Presented in a specially designed box and containing the innovation of MagicBand 2, guests can use it to unlock the magic of a Disney vacation – from effortless theme-park entry, FastPass+ redemption and Disney PhotoPass association, to skipping the front desk and going directly to your resort room. These items, with the exception of the retail MagicBand, will be released at Disneyland Resort on July 22. Guests may also find Dooney & Bourke handbags in select merchandise locations at Disney Parks, on DisneyStore.com, or via the Shop Disney Parks app. View the full article

  18. Wow. Some weekend, huh? SO MUCH news was released at the D23 Expo on July 15th regarding new experiences coming to Walt Disney World. A bit of it was specific to my personal favorite topic — Dining!! We learned that a brand new Space Restaurant (and RATATOUILLE attraction!!) are coming to Epcot. ©Disney But there was SO much more, such as the upcoming Gondola transportation system, additional new attractions, an opening timeframe for Toy Story Land, and more. But even among these SUPER newsworthy items, the announcement that a Star Wars-inspired themed Resort is coming to Disney World really rocked the Disney news world! ©Disney The difference between this upcoming resort and a stay at a traditional Disney Resort is that it will offer an entirely immersive experience. This “living adventure” will welcome guests to become part of a Star Wars Story! According to Bob Chapek, Chairman of Walt Disney World Parks & Resorts: “You’ll immediately become a citizen of the galaxy and experience all that entails, including dressing up in the proper attire. Once you leave Earth, you will discover a starship alive with characters, stories, and adventures that unfold all around you. It is 100% immersive, and the story will touch every single minute of your day, and it will culminate in a unique journey for every person who visits.” ©Disney I love the rendering above, which looks to show sleeping compartments. Necessary, I know. But who could possibly spend anytime sleeping in this place?!? Now, clearly some aspect of this immersive experience will include dining options to feed all the citizens of the galaxy. We already know that Galaxy’s Edge — the confirmed name for Star Wars Land coming to Disneyland and Hollywood Studios — will have a Cantina restaurant and a Star Wars Dinner Club. So, what kind of dining options, experiences, and food could be incorporated into the Star Wars-themed Resort? Time to brainstorm and daydream, my friends! What do you think? What kind of eating experiences would you like to see — and taste! — at the future Star Wars-themed Resort?!? Please let us know YOUR dining ideas and daydreams for the Star Wars-themed Resort in the comments below! Disney Food Blog Fans, be sure to check out our DFB Disney World Dining Guide e-Books! 20. Today marks the grand opening of the 14th Disney Vacation Club Resort – Copper Creek Villas & Cabins at Disney’s Wilderness Lodge! Inspired by the beauty of the Pacific Northwest, the resort features natural elements, such as wood and stone, in its design, as well as subtle nods to the American transcontinental railroad. The Deluxe Studios offer room for up to four guests, while the larger one- and two-bedroom Villas and three-bedroom Grand Villas seamlessly blend the comforts of home, such as full kitchens and in-room laundry, with the wonders of the wilderness to create a tranquil retreat for families of any size. The 26 all-new luxurious waterfront Cascade Cabins are the centerpiece of the resort. These two-bedroom, two-bath cabins sleep up to eight, offering modern luxuries with a rustic, yet upscale feel. Large dining and living room spaces, along with a screened-in wraparound porch (complete with a private hot tub!), allow for plenty of space for families. The resort is a short water taxi ride away from Magic Kingdom Park, and offers easy bus access to the rest of the Walt Disney World Resort, making it the ideal home base for families looking to explore a wide range of new Disney attractions, including the recently opened Pandora – The World of Avatar at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Theme Park. While staying at Copper Creek Villas & Cabins, guests have shared access to all of the amenities and activities available just steps away at Disney’s Wilderness Lodge. Geyser Point Bar & Grill, which opened earlier this year, offers picturesque views of Bay Lake, as well as explorer-worthy feasts and trails-end spirits in an open-air lounge. Roaring Fork, the resort’s original quick-service restaurant, has recently reopened featuring a refreshed look and expanded outdoor seating. The resort’s new leisure pool, Boulder Ridge Cove Pool, is themed to the legendary mining history of the Northwest featuring a zero-depth entry pool, a whirlpool spa and rustic first-come, first-served cabanas. Additionally, a brand-new sports court, BBQ pavilions and a refurbished fire pit and movie area have all joined the lineup of resort amenities. Those in search of extra pampering will want to stop by the new Salon by the Springs for pool-side manicures, pedicures and hair services. Stay tuned to the Disney Parks Blog for a video of today’s grand opening ceremony. Offering rousing musical entertainment, a visit from Conductor Mickey and more, it was an epic celebration that you’ll want to see for yourself! View the full article
