Today, Walt Disney Presents, a re-imagined version of the One Man’s Dream attraction at Disney’s Hollywood Studios, officially opens its doors to offer a new look at the past, present and future of Disney Parks. One of the exciting pieces of the “future” that Walt Disney Presents showcases is a model of the park’s Toy Story Land expansion, which will be on display for guests to view starting today. The Toy Story Land expansion, which will open in Summer 2018, will shrink guests to the size of a toy and allow them to explore all the fun of Andy’s backyard, which as you can see in these images, has been delightfully filled with familiar toys and sights from the “Toy Story” films. You can also see some of the charming detail our Imagineers have created for this new land and its two major attractions – Slinky Dog Dash and Alien Swirling Saucers. The Slinky Dog Dash attraction will be a family coaster themed as if Andy used his Mega Coaster Play Kit to build the ultimate coaster for Slinky. The land’s other major attraction, Alien Swirling Saucers, has been designed as a toy play set that Andy got from Pizza Planet, in which Aliens are flying around in their toy flying saucers and trying to capture guests’ rocket toy vehicles with “The Claw.” But the Toy Story Land model isn’t the only exciting draw to Walt Disney Presents. Tracing Disney history from Walt Disney’s beginning sketches, photos and storyboards, the attraction celebrates milestones in Disney film and theme park history up through today and beyond. Expect to see models, maquettes, sketches, artist renderings, a portion of the Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge model, concept art for the new Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railway attraction and more. Tonight’s Disney Park After Dark image was snapped in the Town Square area of Magic Kingdom Park, which is looking extra spooky this time of year. Already dressed up for fall, Town Square is stacked with not-so-scary jack-o-lanterns, pumpkins, wreaths and more. On Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party nights, themed background music and lighting effects transforms it even more into a Halloween wonderland. Halloween Time at the Disneyland Resort is expanding into Disney California Adventure park, bringing the first-ever Haul-O-Ween in Cars Land. The residents of Radiator Springs are getting into the spirit, decorating each of their establishments and even donning their own car-stumes! Lightning McQueen is already a super hero to race fans, and his car-stume reflects that. Here he is next to the scare-car which makes its Haul-O-Ween debut this year. Mater may not have a trunk, but that won’t stop him from trunk-or-treating in his vampire costume. Is it magic or Mystic Arts? You decide as you’re the first to see Doctor Strange levitating above the top deck of a Disney ship. That’s a just a glimpse of what’s to come during Marvel Day at Sea aboard select Disney Magic cruises. Doctor Strange is one of the most powerful sorcerers in existence. Once an expert surgeon, a car accident severely damaged his hands, sending him on a quest that led to his discovery of the Mystic Arts. His magical repertoire includes energy projection, matter transformation, teleportation, dimensional travel and time travel, to name just a few. During Marvel Day at Sea, you can see Doctor Strange in his very own show in the Walt Disney Theatre. Through stage illusions, projections and special effects, Doctor Strange demonstrates his mastery of the Mystic Arts to confront villain Dormammu and attempt to send him back to the Dark Dimension. When he’s not defeating Dormammu, Doctor Strange may be encountered around the ship, summoning his powers and seeking enlightenment, as well as appearing in the nighttime deck show. Planning a visit to Walt Disney World Resort for the holidays? Then you can’t miss Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party at Magic Kingdom Park, which celebrates the season with festive decor, glittering holiday lights, special photo opportunities, holiday entertainment you have to see to believe, snow on Main Street, U.S.A., and so much more. Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party, which requires a special ticket to attend, will be held on the following nights: November 9, 10, 12, 14, 16, 17, 26 and 28; and December 1, 3, 5, 7, 8, 10, 12, 14, 15, 17, 19, 21 and 22. Party fun takes place from 7 p.m.-midnight, although party ticket holders may enter the park as early as 4 p.m. to enjoy regular park offerings. Kicking off the evening is the must-see offering, “A Frozen Holiday Wish.” Guests arriving early for the party can watch as royal sisters Anna and Elsa lead a celebration for their friends on the Castle Forecourt Stage that culminates in Queen Elsa using her incredible powers to transform Cinderella Castle into a shimmering ice palace for the holidays. Later in the evening, the stage plays host to “Mickey’s Most Merriest Celebration,” a live show in which Mickey and his pals hold an unforgettable holiday gathering that celebrates friendship and music. Another party must-see is “Mickey’s Once Upon a Christmastime Parade,” which steps off twice during each party night. This enchanting holiday parade features dancing gingerbread men, marching toy soldiers, Disney characters, Santa Claus and more bringing the fun straight down Main Street, U.S.A. Then the highlight of Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party night is “Holiday Wishes Fireworks– Celebrate the Spirit of the Season,” a special fireworks show set to holiday tunes that lights up the sky above Magic Kingdom Park. The party also offers guests a chance to snack on complimentary hot cocoa and cookies, enjoy party exclusive character greetings (and photos!), as well as pick up event-exclusive merchandise and holiday treats. It may seem early to start thinking about the holidays, but I’m counting down ‘til Christmas with more anticipation than ever before. Why? I have a brand-new baby at home – a little boy named Lincoln, who is the love of my life. I’m already thinking about traditions, both old and new, that are in store for my entire family. Luckily, at Disney Springs, we can create family memories, celebrate the season and find special gifts for all of the special people on my list – plus a treat or two for me! Make your holidays more magical, too, by enjoying everything Disney Springs will have to offer this holiday season… The secret is out. Disney Springs has the most complete collection of Disney-inspired products anywhere! Because of that, it’s where I’ll be starting my holiday shopping. My little guy may be too young for the awesome collections at the LEGO store or Star Wars Outpost, but the perfect plush toy is sure to be waiting for him at World of Disney – with over 50,000 items, it’s the world’s largest assortment of Disney merchandise. My family and friends will love one-of-a-kind gifts from Sugarboo & Co., and jewelry from PANDORA is always a hit. For the fashionistas in my life, UNIQLO and Francesca’s delight without breaking the bank. (And I think we can all agree that these fantastic finds are sure to have earned me a cupcake from Sprinkles, right?) While holiday shopping is certainly more magical here at Disney Springs, it’s just one of the many reasons I’ll be visiting. I can’t wait to introduce my son to some of my seasonal “must-dos”: A Bigger, Better Disney Springs’ Christmas Tree Trail: Last year we introduced custom decorated holiday trees to the Marketplace, each themed to a popular Disney story or character. This year, I’m thrilled to share that the Christmas Tree Trail will expand to twenty-five trees – many of them larger than last year’s evergreens – including ten new trees inspired by Disney classics such as Sleeping Beauty, Peter Pan, Snow White and Dumbo. I can’t wait to see Lincoln’s eyes light up and watch him choose a favorite. Santa’s Chalet: Santa Claus is accepting Christmas wish lists and welcoming guests to his chalet near the exit of Disney Springs’ Christmas Tree Trail, making the Marketplace the most magical nook in all of Disney Springs. We’ll be visiting in our holiday best, smiling for Disney PhotoPass Photographers who will be on hand to capture photos, and probably taking a few selfies with our own camera, too! Santa Goofy will take over when Saint Nick heads back to the North Pole on December 25 – so we may have to visit twice. Stitch’s Holiday Gift Hunt: The mischievous experiment 626 is at it again with an expanded scavenger hunt featuring four new stops, including a special stop at the more-magical-than-ever Disney Springs’ Christmas Tree Trail. A great activity for families with kids older than mine, it’s your chance to work together, decipher clues, and discover all the spots where Stich is hiding. Complete the mission and receive a limited-edition button. (We may have to do this so we can add the button to Lincoln’s baby book!) Meet & Greet with the Coca-Cola Polar Bear: My son has a plush stuffed animal of the iconic bear, so it will be fun to see what he thinks of the eight-foot tall version, available for meet and greets on the second floor of The Coca-Cola Store. I’m a long-time fan of the beloved brand ambassador and I have a feeling he’ll put a huge smile on Lincoln’s face, too. La Nouba by Cirque du Soleil: After nearly twenty years, “La Nouba” will take its final bow on December 31, 2017. I’ve seen the show a handful of times and can attest that there’s nothing else quite like the gravity-defying, jaw-dropping thrill of this stunning 90-minute show. There’s a good chance we’ll be getting a sitter so we can see it one last time before the curtain closes. The Epcot International Festival of the Holidays (previously known as “Holidays Around the World”) will return to Epcot from November 19 through December 30. What can you expect this season? The return of the guest-favorite Candlelight Processional, new Holiday Kitchens, entertainment additions and more. First up, the Candlelight Processional, a highlight of a holiday visit for many guests, features a retelling of the traditional Christmas story by a celebrity narrator and music from a 50-piece orchestra and mass choir. This year the show will welcome a few new narrators to the season’s lineup, including Matt Bomer, CCH Pounder and Pat Sajak. Returning favorites Neil Patrick Harris, Whoopi Goldberg and Jaci Velasquez are also scheduled to appear. The Candlelight Processional is performed three times each evening, 5:00, 6:45 and 8:15 p.m. at America Gardens Theatre from Nov. 24-Dec. 30. Candlelight dinner packages can be reserved now by visiting Disneyworld.com/holiday. Guests can also enjoy entertainment throughout World Showcase, with each pavilion’s holiday traditions coming to life for guests through the sharing of joyful music and time-honored traditions. New this year is the group Mostly Kosher, who will perform holiday classics celebrating Hanukkah in the America Pavilion. Returning favorites also include JOYFUL! A Gospel Celebration of the Season and Canadian Holiday Voyageurs. In addition to more entertainment, the park will also feature a total of 15 Holiday Kitchens this year, serving up more holiday cookies and other sweet seasonal treats than ever before. Stop into the Odyssey for snowflake sugar cookies and warm apple fritters with cinnamon ice cream, or head to the Canada pavilion for Maple Buche de Noel. The holiday season returns to the Walt Disney World Resort on November 9 – and this year, it’ll be more magical than ever before at Disney’s Hollywood Studios with the addition of a new nighttime experience, new stunning decorations, the return of “Jingle Bell, Jingle BAM!” and more. Our newest holiday nighttime experience – Sunset Seasons Greetings – will feature spectacular projections of Mickey, Minnie and other beloved Disney characters sharing their favorite Christmas stories as a snowy Sunset Boulevard twinkles with holiday decorations. Billboards will come to life and the famous Hollywood Tower Hotel will transform into a pile of Christmas gifts, a gingerbread house and a frozen winter wonderland throughout the night. A summer-loving snowman might even make an appearance. This season, you’ll also notice enhanced holiday decor around Echo Lake at the park. Colorful garlands and a giant Christmas tree centered on the water will make Echo Lake the merriest of places this holiday season. Even its famous Dinosaur will be dressed for the occasion with a dino-Santa hat. And the hit holiday show, “Jingle Bell, Jingle BAM!” is also returning and sending Disney animated characters on a spirited yuletide adventure to get Santa back to the North Pole in time for Christmas Eve. As many of you know, “Jingle Bell, Jingle BAM!” combines state-of-the-art projections, fireworks, special effects and Christmas music to create a dazzling, one-of-a-kind holiday experience for guests – capped by a special message from Santa himself. Santa Claus will return to the Once Upon a Time shop on November 9 through December 24 at Disney’s Hollywood Studios as well. As Halloween Time at the Disneyland Resort expands to Disney California Adventure park, guests will discover a new adventure when night falls at The Collector’s Fortress. Guardians of the Galaxy – Monsters After Dark picks up moments after the events of Guardians of the Galaxy – Mission: BREAKOUT!, which continues throughout the season during daylight hours. While escaping The Collector’s Fortress, the Guardians have accidentally left Groot behind, so Rocket needs your help to find and rescue his little buddy. But along with the creatures that have been accidentally released inside The Collector’s Fortress, one terrifying monster you will encounter is Surtur’s Fire Dragon, seen in the artist’s rendering above from Walt Disney Imagineering. This terrifying monster will also appear in the upcoming “Thor: Ragnarok” in theaters on November 3. Earlier this month, we shared the exciting news that the first ride vehicle for Slinky Dog Dash, one of two major attractions planned for Toy Story Land at Disney’s Hollywood Studios, has arrived at the park. The ride vehicle, which is themed after the character of Slinky from “Toy Story,” took Imagineers from multiple disciplines a few years to design, so the group was thrilled to see the finished product arrive on the site firsthand. According to the Imagineers, the vehicle was created to reflect Slinky’s personality, the movement and motion of a Slinky toy, and of course Slinky’s adorable look which will be visible throughout the land as the coaster moves along the track. “This is a ride for the whole family: it’s fun, it’s exciting, it’s thrilling, but it’s not scary,” said Imagineer Bob Vignec. “It’s a rollercoaster, but it’s also this fun character that will be out in the land. You sort of get a little bit of goosebumps seeing it here for the first time.” Toy Story Land is set to open at Disney’s Hollywood Studios in summer 2018. Last year, the Disney After Hours ticketed event nights debuted at Magic Kingdom Park and delighted guests with quick access to some of the park’s most popular attractions and character greetings. We’re happy to share today that Disney After Hours events will return for select dates in January, February and March 2018. If you’re new to Disney After Hours, an event night is limited to a small number of guests, allowing attendees to maximize their time in the park with little to no wait at 25 attractions and experiences, like Seven Dwarfs Mine Train, Under the Sea ~ Journey of The Little Mermaid, Space Mountain and many more. The Disney After Hours ticket allows park entry as early as 7 p.m., which gives attendees time to enjoy the park’s nightly “Happily Ever After” fireworks, and then remain in the park until 11 p.m. and some nights to 12:00 a.m. Disney After Hours event nights are currently set for January 19, 26, and 30, February 8 and 15, March 1 and 8. New entertainment, new seating, two cool themed evenings – there’s lots that’s new for the 2017 Party for the Senses, the sensational evening of food, live entertainment and elegant fun at World ShowPlace in Epcot World Showcase. And it’s the 35th anniversary of Epcot, another reason to celebrate during the Epcot International Food & Wine Festival. If you’ve never been, Party for the Senses is a culinary extravaganza with dozens of tasting stations with wine pairings and craft cocktails and beers. While food plays a leading role, the incredible talent line-up on the stage provides the backbeat for an unforgettable evening. Here are six things you’ll need to know: 1. Start your evening early: when you buy your ticket for Party for the Senses, you also get reserved seating for the 5:30 p.m. and 6:45 p.m. performances of the East to the Beat concert series at America Gardens Theatre – so enjoy the live music, then stroll over to World ShowPlace for the party from 7:30-10 p.m. (Note: Epcot admission is required.) 2. There are three levels of seating this year, and every guest has a seat: Wine View Lounge includes early admission (at 7:15 p.m.); a private reserved table in the lounge, artisanal cheeses and a specialty cocktail, with transportation to and from the Epcot main entrance. Reserved Seating is a private table on the main floor. Guaranteed Seating is with other guests on the main floor. All three have limited availability, so a reservation is a good idea. 3. This year’s dates: Sept. 23, Oct. 7, Oct. 14, Oct. 21 and Nov. 11. 4. Two themed evenings worth considering: Sept. 23 will feature the chefs from Disney Springs – look for everything from Mexican (Frontera Cocina) to Asian (Morimoto Asia) to seafood (The BOATHOUSE and Paddlefish) to Southern (Homecomin’ by Art Smith) … the list goes on, and it’s great fun to interact with the chefs at each of their tasting stations. Then on Oct. 21, chefs from Disney parks around the globe will come together to create an evening of international tastes – this has been a super-popular event the last couple of years. Disneyland Paris, Tokyo Disneyland, Shanghai Disney, Hong Kong Disneyland, Aulani and Disney Cruise Line chefs will join our Walt Disney World chefs to showcase the best of their cuisine. 5. Wow entertainment: the music takes this year’s event over the top. For the very special Disney Springs’ night on Sept. 23, popular entertainers from Disney Springs’ venues will take the stage, including the House of Blues Gospel Choir, Raglan Road musicians and Irish dancers, jugglers Nate and Aaron, magician Meraux Dantes, flamenco guitarist Nicholas Marks and more. Oct. 7 is John Pizzarelli, an American jazz guitarist and vocalist; Oct. 14, Femmes of Rock, a “hard rock” violin act with video, lights, choreography and comedy in a high-energy show; Oct. 21, Grace Kelly, American musician, singer, entertainer, songwriter, and Nov. 11, Vintage Vinyl Band (a big hit last year), an Orlando band that takes today’s pop hits and retrofits them into jazz, swing, Motown and doo-wop. 6. On Monday, Sept. 4, Circle D horses and cast members participated in the annual Labor Day parade in Norco, Calif. Although Disneyland Resort horses have participated in Norco parades before, this year the Circle D team put together the largest group of horses and cast members ever to participate in a community parade. The equine stars included Dallas, Chief, Bug and Finn, and participating cast members included Disneyland Resort Ambassador Alexa Garcia and Circle D Ranch Manager Roy Hungerford. Question: If you go to the Magic Kingdom at Walt Disney World and skip Casey’s Corner, were you ever really there? Learn About: Casey’s Corner Magic Kingdom Disney World Restaurants Well, I can’t speak for everybody. But in my case, the answer is: Nope! Especially now that plastic cheese is back. Wait. That’s not right. PLASTIC CHEESE IS BACK! You know how I love this King of All Condiments — ooey, gooey yellow cheese that comes on rib-sticking favorites like Chili Cheese Nachos. Well, by now you know that Plastic Cheese disappeared for a while. We found some from time to time, but it was never enough. And we still couldn’t dunk our Corn Dog Nuggets in it whilst gazing lovingly at Cinderella Castle from the quaint patio of Casey’s Corner. Thank goodness those dark days are over! Welcome back to Casey’s Corner, home of amazing hot dogs and even more amazing plastic cheese! Atmosphere Casey’s is quintessential Main Street, U.S.A., fulfilling Walt’s vision of a Main Street reminiscent of one of his childhood home in Marceline, Missouri. It’s got tremendous architectural detail, from intricate molding to fabulous window casings. Casey’s Corner Inside the small ordering area are lots of decor pieces harkening back to a simpler time. Oh, and there’s lots of classy striped wallpaper, too (which I kind of love). Casey’s Decor Casey’s celebrates Casey at the Bat, so there are baseball details throughout, highlighting America’s pastime. Atmosphere Details at Casey’s Corner Mudville Banners The ordering area, unsurprisingly, continues the theme, right down to the beautiful wood moldings overhead. Casey’s Ordering Area You’ll also find a well-appointed toppings and condiments area, complete with sauerkraut, ketchup, and onions. Condiments and Toppings Indoor seating is available these days, for those desperate for air conditioning. (I say “these days” as a reference to the ol’ small bleachers that once occupied this space). Indoor Seating But when the weather conditions cooperate, it’s even better outside. It can get crowded out there, and the ducks and other birds do make the rounds. Outdoor seating by Hub refurbishment But the view? You’d be hard pressed to beat it. Cinderella Castle Eats On my most recent visit, I wanted to (continue to) test my theory that more cheese is always better. So before I ordered up a cup of “Cheese Sauce” – that’s the official name of plastic cheese — I ordered a Mac and Cheese Hot Dog. Mac and Cheese Hot Dog Yep, the Mac and Cheese Hot Dog is back in all its glory! Like all Casey’s hot dog creations, this one starts with an All-Beef Hot Dog on a Potato Roll. (FYI: Foot-long hot dog options are served on a regular roll — sans potato.) Casey’s Mac and Cheese Hot Dog That salty centerpiece is topped with a massive amount of gooey Mac and Cheese, plus a sprinkling of Bacon! This is a knife and fork kind of hot dog, folks. Or, at the very least, several napkins. So much mac. So much Cheese. So much hot dog. It really is an awesome combination of savory flavors and textures: salty hot dog, creamy mac and cheese, and BACON. Delicious in every way. Now, tremendous mac and cheese dog indulgence aside, it was time for the real star: Plastic Cheese. And, guys, it’s only $1.00 for a decent amount of cheese! I ordered mine with Corn Dog Nuggets (just the entree, minus the side of fries). I tried this combo (with queso blanco!) at Pecos Bill’s recently, and it’s so good! Corn Dog Nuggets with PLASTIC CHEESE The Nuggets are wonderfully golden brown, crisp on the outside and full of corn meal batter and mini dogs on the inside. One big cup of plastic cheese! And right beside it, a fabulous yellow pool of cheesy goodness! Now that I’ve provided guidance on the Cheese Consumption, you should know that Casey’s serves up Odwalla Lemonade Slushies — with a Mickey Straw! These frozen lemonade drinks (and there are many, many frozen slush-style drinks in every park) are crazy refreshing. To drink it while relaxing in the Hub eating Corn Dog Nuggets and Plastic Cheese? Frozen Lemonade with Mickey Straw! Please. Can I just do this everyday with my buddy, Mickey? You gotta have one! Or ten! Nosh or Not? Casey’s Corner is a must for you if: You’re looking for a classic American quick service meal in the Magic Kingdom. You don’t mind staring down a line for the best hot dogs ever. You love dining in the middle of all the Magic! Casey’s Corner is a skip for you if: You’re more into burgers (Cosmic Ray’s), Mexican food (Pecos Bill’s), seafood or healthier options (Columbia Harbour House). Waiting in line isn’t your thing (they’re just about ever-present here, folks). You’re making a beeline for all the attractions, so you’re not spending that much time on Main Street, U.S.A. Overall Casey’s Corner is simply iconic — and I have to stop in every time I visit the World. Plus, you can’t really get a more convenient location, right in the center of everything the Magic Kingdom has to offer. The fact that they serve up totally delicious (and Plastic) food means that even though it may not be a must-do every time for you, it’s a must-do at least once in the Magic Kingdom.
