In our Disney Doodle series, different Disney artists take turns imagining what different Disney characters would do or see first if they had the chance to visit the Walt Disney World Resort. In today’s Doodle, artist Ashley Taylor imagines what Anastasia and Drizella – and feline friend Lucifer – would do if they could visit Magic Kingdom Park. To Ashley, these wicked stepsisters and their pesky pet, used to being served by Cinderella, would have to go somewhere else to get served their own cup of tea. “The stepsisters are used to getting their cup of tea from Cinderella!” Ashley said. “But now that she’s living in the castle with Prince Charming, they have to find other ways to enjoy their tea!” View the full article

A beautiful new dining space is now open in the Downtown Disney District at the Disneyland Resort! As part of a larger phased renovation, Naples Ristorante e Pizzeria is pleased to unveil an upstairs restaurant with a quaint walkout patio. Twinkling chandeliers give the celestial atmosphere a warm and inviting glow. Inside, guests are welcome to comfortably lounge in plush booth seating while looking on as their meals are being expertly prepared in the open concept kitchen. Guests can order Napolini’s famous fresh-baked pizzas from the recently opened ground-level patio at Naples. It’s Halloween Time in Disneyland – and that means specials at most of the dining locations – and Bengal Barbecue is no exception. Bengal Barbecue Bengal Barbecue is celebrating Halloween Time with their version of Hawaii’s popular Musubi. Bengal Barbecue Musubi If you aren’t familiar with Musubi, it is Sticky Rice topped with a slice of Spiced Ham (traditionally it is Spam) and all wrapped together with Nori Seaweed. Bengal Barbecue Musubi Bengal’s version replicates the look of traditional Musubi very well. There is a slice of spiced ham on top of a block of lemongrass jasmine rice with a pineapple teriyaki sauce between them. Bengal Barbecue Musubi The Musubi is served with a side of Banhi style slaw which is topped with topped with furikake flakes. Bengal Barbecue Banhi style slaw We didn’t love this, but we DID like it better than we expected – and our team had varied opinions. It’s worth a shot if you love Musubi – but don’t go out of your way for this if trying it doesn’t interest you. The Plaza Restaurant is home to classic American lunch and dinner favorites like a Club or Reuben sandwich. And don’t forget those all-you-can-drink Milkshakes of the Month (currently an Un-Birthday Celebration Spectacular), but now you’ll be able to add breakfast favorites to the list of items at the Plaza! Starting November 4 and running through early January 5th, you’ll be able to have a table-service breakfast on Main Street U.S.A. while looking at Cinderella Castle! Disney just announced the addition of breakfast at The Plaza, and Advance Dining Reservations are open now for breakfast, available from 8:00AM-10:30AM daily. Breakfast at The Plaza Starts November 4 The full menu is not released, but from the announcement we know there will be a Classic All-American Breakfast with scrambled eggs with breakfast potatoes, sausage, bacon, a biscuit, and mini Mickey Waffles. There will also be a Lobster Benedict dish with crispy fried green tomatoes, buttery lobster, two poached eggs, topped with hollandaise sauce and house-made breakfast potatoes. So it’s time to book your flights, y’all. Just a few weeks ago, Casey’s Corner in Disney World’s Magic Kingdom put a bunch of mac and cheese and bacon on some french fries. Loaded Mashed Potato Dog at Casey’s Corner in Magic Kingdom Meet the Loaded Mashed Potato Hot Diggity Dog. This one is topped with garlic mashed potatoes, caramelized onions, cheddar, bacon, scallion sour cream, and green onions. October Loaded Mashed Potato Dog at Casey’s Corner You’ll find the Mashed Potato dog available ONLY for the month of October. But that’s OK…we probably don’t need it hanging around tempting us for too much longer. And by the way, there are a few more new items we need to tell you about at Disney World. (None of them are as important as mashed potatoes on a hot dog, but here you go, all the same.) This month on Best Bites I’ve got some exciting new eats at Epcot, Magic Kingdom Park, and Disney’s BoardWalk Bakery. My mouth is already watering just thinking about them, so let’s get right into it! Starting with Epcot, Le Cellier Steakhouse has added two new delicious poutine offerings to the menu both featuring Le Cellier’s freshly-cut fries. The first dish is Beef Brisket Benedict Poutine, which is topped with Canadian cheddar, Montreal smoked brisket, sauce choron, and a 62-degree poached egg. The second dish is Beef Bourguignon Poutine, which is topped with gruyere cheese, truffle, and garlic aioli. These two dishes are available all day and make a great mid-day meal. If you’re looking for the perfect place to eat lunch, stop by Le Cellier Steakhouse! At Magic Kingdom Park, Casey’s Corner is bringing the heat with September’s Hot Diggity Dog of the Month: the Jalapeno Popper Dog! It’s topped with cheese sauce, garlic ranch drizzle, bacon bits, jalapeno poppers, and pickled jalapenos. For October’s Hot Diggity Dog of the Month, get ready for the Loaded Mashed Potato Hot Diggity Dog topped with garlic mashed potatoes, caramelized onions, cheddar, bacon, scallion sour cream, and green onions. And over at Pinocchio Village Haus, you have to try September’s Flatbread of the Month – the Breakfast Flatbread topped with sausage gravy, cheddar cheese, and bacon. For October’s Flatbread of the Month, you’ll find the Apple Sausage and Brie Flatbread with apple butter spread, brie cheese, sausage, apples, sour cream, lettuce pico, and cinnamon sugar. Before you go to Under the Sea ~ Journey of the Little Mermaid in Fantasyland, why not head on over to Prince Eric’s Village Market for some Sweet Thai Chili Shrimp? This new dish is tossed in chili mayo and consists of vegetable slaw, ginger vinaigrette, poached shrimp with salt and lemon, and black sesame seeds. Hankering for a­ hand-held snack? Liberty Square Market has a couple new skewers just for you! Try the Chicken Skewer marinated with a spicy sweet sauce, or chow down on the Candied Bacon Skewer. These are definitely must-try savory snacks, and they taste AMAZING! I also have some exciting news regarding The Plaza Restaurant in Magic Kingdom Park! Breakfast is coming soon to this quaint little restaurant on Main Street, U.S.A. starting on November 4. Start your day by fueling up with a family-friendly hearty breakfast. Choose from dishes like the Classic All-American Breakfast featuring scrambled eggs with breakfast potatoes, sausage, bacon, a biscuit, and MICKEY WAFFLES. There’s also the Lobster Benedict with crispy fried green tomatoes, buttery lobster, two poached eggs, and hollandaise. This dish is also served with house-made breakfast potatoes. On the topic of breakfast, the BoardWalk Bakery at Disney’s Boardwalk is serving up a few new breakfast sandwiches! These on-the-go eats make for a great snack on your way to the parks. There’s the Butter Butter Sandwich, the Everything Everything Sandwich, and the Ooey Gooey Sandwich. The Butter Butter Sandwich comes with shaved ham, scrambled eggs, and buttery fontina cheese spread on brioche, and the Everything Everything Sandwich comes with a cage-free fried eggs and Tillamook cheddar on an everything bagel. My favorite sandwich, though, is the Ooey Gooey Sandwich! This one comes with a cage-free poached egg, cheddar, mozzarella, capicola, and an oven-dried tomato on an artisan roll. Right next door to the BoardWalk Bakery is the newly-reopened Pizza Window! Open for lunch and dinner, you’ll find a brand-new menu here. For the pizzas, order up a personal pizza or even a whole pizza for the entire family! Options include a cheese pizza, pepperoni pizza, mushroom pizza, and a white pizza with bacon and mushrooms. A Meatball Sub and an Italian Hoagie Sandwich are also available and come with chips. For the sides, try the Caprese Salad or the Antipasto Salad. To quench your thirst, pair your meal with a draft beer, sangria, or your choice of fountain beverage. And if you’ve got a hankering for something sweet, then the Mini Cannoli are just for you! When we told you about the closure of Tambu Lounge in Walt Disney World’s Polynesian Village Resort way back in May of this year, lots of questions remained about where we could get our drink on in this tropical resort. The Polynesian opened two temporary bars on the second floor of the Great Ceremonial House in August, leaving guests with ample options. Temporary Bar near doors to the Monorail And now we’ve spotted a new addition to the lounge that’s located near the Monorail doors: a Kona Beer Flight! The flight includes three 5-ounce samplings, and guests get to choose their beers from five Kona Brewing Co. offerings! Kona Beer Flight The Kona Beer Flight is a decent size and enough to share between a couple of people, if you’re so inclined! But if you’re feelin’ the island vibe and just want to kick back with your trio for a while, we wouldn’t blame you! And displays featuring this traditional confection at Disney Resorts are must-see Disney holiday experiences! Eat and Drink Around the World During Epcot’s International Festival of the Holidays Just when you didn’t think that Disney could become anymore delicious, the holidays arrive. And with them, there are plenty of special eats and drinks to enjoy. After all, it just wouldn’t be Christmas time without Hot Applejack Cider in the UK, or Glühwein in the Germany Pavilion. Mickey Ornament Stein We’re keeping our fingers crossed that the Caramel Kiss returns this year. (We missed it so much in 2017!) Be sure to take your power nap in the afternoon so that you can stay up late for the extra special New Year’s Eve Fireworks displays! Spy Festive Decorations on the Train Display in the Germany Pavilion Can’t get enough holiday decor in the Parks? It doesn’t matter how many times I visit the park, I always have to stop here, especially during the holidays, when the town square is decked out for the occasion! Personalize Your Ornament at Disney Days of Christmas It’s Christmas 365 days a year at Disney Days of Christmas in Disney Springs, but during the holidays, you have to make a pilgrimage here for the best souvenir of all — a personalized ornament! Good Tidings Ornament No time for a trip to Disney Springs? Stop by Ye Olde Christmas Shoppe in Magic Kingdom’s Liberty Square instead. These are souvenirs you’ll love to unpack year after year! Christmas Shop Ornament 12. Attend the Christmas Parade Taping! Both Walt Disney World and Disneyland actually tape portions of the Christmas Parade (as well as the Christmas Parade performances) for an ABC Television Special well before the actual holiday. Magic Kingdom Holidays In the past, taping has taken place the first weekend in December, but for the past two years, it was taped in early- to mid-November! So if this is something that you’d love to be a part of, be sure to keep a sharp eye out for when the date is announced in 2018. Enjoy a Hollywood-Style Christmas during the Flurry of Fun In 2017, Disney’s Hollywood Studios upped the holiday merriment with the Flurry of Fun! This event includes the Jingle Bell, Jingle BAM! fireworks and projection spectacular, and Sunset Seasons Greetings, with massive projections transforming the billboards and Tower of Terror on Sunset Boulevard! Projections on the Hollywood Tower Hotel during Sunset Seasons Greetings Flurry of Fun starts on November 8 and continues through the holiday season! And new in 2018, we expect Toy Story Land to bring the spirit to life with overlays on statues, holiday tunes, and much more! Take a Jingle Cruise in Magic Kingdom A couple of years ago, those enterprising Jungle Cruise Skippers became a little nostalgic for Christmas celebrations — and the Jingle Cruise was born! Take a Jingle Cruise! Don’t Lose Your Head Though! If you love the Jungle Cruise anyway, be sure to book your FastPass+ for this holiday version — complete with corny holiday jokes and extra fun holiday decor. 15. Grab a Spot for Mickey’s Once Upon a Christmastime Parade If you love a Walt Disney World parade, you’ve got to make time for this holiday version, which includes life-sized Dancing Gingerbread and marching Toy Soldiers come to life! Once Upon a Christmastime Parade This special parade takes place during Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party (through December 21; starting December 22, it also thrills during regular Magic Kingdom hours!) and features favorite characters on specially themed floats, as well as holiday icons. Look for Santa during the parade’s grand finale! Santa Claus! 16. Get ALL the Can’t-Miss Holiday Snacks Some seriously awesome Disney snacks appear just once a year — and that time is now! Be sure to keep an eye out for extra special snacks, like Olaf Sundae at Hollywood Studios’ Flurry of Fun! Olaf Sundae There’s no shortage of treats at Magic Kingdom as well. Observe the Epcot Tree Lighting Every night at 6PM, a Tree Lighting takes place in Epcot’s World Showcase Plaza. Epcot Christmas Tree From year to year, the theme of the Epcot tree is Peace on Earth. Epcot Tree — Peace Angel If a bright and cheerful Christmas tree is your favorite part of the holiday season, you definitely don’t want to miss this beautiful spectacle. 18. Find Carolers and Sing Along If singing Christmas Carols is a rite of passage for you during the holidays, you can get your jingle on with Carolers in different spots throughout Walt Disney World. And you should totally join in with the singing! In Epcot, look for the Voices of Liberty to don Victorian garb and transform into Dickens Carolers. Dickens Carolers Sing for Guests Find them in the American Adventure Pavilion. Animal Kingdom also features carolers singing holiday classics near the tree at the park’s entrance. Carolers also make regular appearances throughout the resorts and at Disney Springs. Check with guest services at any of these locations to find out when you can make merry with the carolers! 19. Book a Special Holiday Tour Special Holiday Tours are also a great way to add magic to your visit. Because the tours are usually limited to a small group, they have a much more personal feel than many of the other holiday-specific events. Decorate Christmas Cookies One of the tastiest ways to enjoy the Christmas season is by decorating cookies, and many resorts throughout Walt Disney World offer younger guests the chance to decorate their own! Check Out the Christmas Eve Golf Cart Parade One of our favorite pastimes during the holidays is a trip to Ft. Wilderness Resort and Campground to see the campsite decorations. Wilderness If you plan your visit for Christmas Eve, be sure to stick around for the traditional Golf Cart Parade, when guests deck out their golf carts in all manner of festive decor and parade around the resort! 22. Take a Sleigh, Wagon, or Carriage Ride While you’re at Ft. Wilderness, catch a Sleigh or Wagon Ride. Yep — that’s right. Through the magic of Disney, you can ride in a sleigh in Florida! Wagon rides are also available (and are a bit easier on the budget). Earlier this week we got up bright and early and headed to the first Early Morning Magic at Toy Story Land! Early Morning Magic at Hollywood Studios Crowds were low, and it was fun to feel like we had the park to ourselves. Read on for a full review, and our thoughts on whether the price tag is worth it… . Early Morning Magic in Disney World’s Toy Story Land Early Morning Magic in Toy Story Land runs from 7:30am – 10:00am. The Park opens to guests at 9:00am, giving you 1 1/2 hours of time in the park with limited guests. Note that if tickets are in high demand, Disney may open up more arrival times for Early Morning Magic. Early Morning Magic at Hollywood Studios Resort buses are running at this time. If you are driving, we recommend you get there a little earlier than you planned. There are no parking attendants, so knowing where to park can be a little confusing. Also, with the construction of the the new bus stop and Skyliner station, the walk to the park entrance is longer than usual. Empty Parking Lot at Hollywood Studios Hollywood Studios Entrance for Early Morning Magic When you arrive and check in, you will receive an event wristband similar to the ones given out for Halloween and Christmas Parties in Magic Kingdom. Early Morning Magic Wristband Your Early Morning Magic ticket includes time in Toy Story Land and breakfast at ABC Commissary. We were part of a media group, so were directed to ABC Commissary first. However, since you can get breakfast with your ticket as late as 10:00am (after the park officially opens), we recommend that you go to Toy Story Land first while the park is closed to other guests, and then head to ABC Commissary after the park opens to all guests so you can make the most of your morning. Early Morning Magic in Toy Story Land Breakfast Breakfast at Early Morning Magic is serious business. Head on over to ABC Commissary and choose your options from the posted menus — both an entree and continental breakfast buffet are included in your ticket. ABC Commissary Menus include several great options — it was really hard to choose! Entree Order Early Morning Magic in Toy Story Land Rides and Characters After breakfast, we headed over to Toy Story Land. We loved seeing 5 and 10 minute wait times posted! But, basically everything was a walk-on status. Look at that 5 minute wait time for Slinky Dog Dash and Alien Swirling Saucers! Slinky Dog Dash Alien Swirling Saucers Toy Story Mania! We could even choose our row for Slinky Dog Dash. People who wanted the first row did have to wait behind one or two groups, but that is about it for the wait. (FYI, we prefer the back row — the first row has a view of…huge dog ears, plus it’s slower than the ride at the back, similar to Big Thunder Mountain Railroad.) Slinky Dog Dash Buzz, Woody, and Jessie were also available for photos and autographs. Buzz Meet and Greet This is a great time to knock these character meet and greets out for the day – and the lines are short. Remember these lines can be crazy long during the day – and hot – with little shade. Woody and Jessie Meet and Greet If you are a little parched while in Toy Story Land no need to run to ABC Commissary for a drink – Woody’s Lunch Box is offering free coffee and water during the event. Woody’s Lunch Box Overall This event is a definite splurge. The cost for the extra event is $79 per adult, and $69 for children ages 3 to 9 (not including tax), so a larger family will be paying beau coup bucks. It starts at 7:30am and runs until 10:00, but the park opens to the public at 9:00am, giving you 1 1/2 hours in the park with a limited number of guests. And by limited we mean this: Early Morning Magic at Toy Story Land When are you ever going to see Toy Story Land look this empty? Early Morning Magic at Toy Story Land So yes, it is a splurge, and each family’s decision is conditional. After all, a family of five will be spending basically $365 for an hour and a half of short lines and a counter service breakfast. And that $365 could easily be another night’s hotel in a deluxe resort, or TWO nights’ hotel in a value or moderate resort. (Or, you know, could go toward your mortgage.) But, if your Disney trip is short; you don’t have time for lines or playing fastpass tetris; you MUST go on Slinky Dog Dash, Alien Swirling Saucers, and Toy Story Mania!; meeting Buzz, Jessie, and Woody without long lines is imperative; and experiencing Toy Story Land without crowds (and when it is a little cooler) is high on your family’s list, then this could be worth it for YOU. Tonight’s Disney Parks After Dark photography takes us to Frontierland at Disneyland park, where Día de los Muertos has returned to the Zócalo Park area, between Rancho del Zócalo Restaurante and Big Thunder Mountain Railroad. Colorful flower arrangements – anchored by marigolds – abound. Papel picado and colorful lights dangle from above. A trio of skeleton musicians, inspired by works of traditional Mexican folk art, don sombreros. You might also spot a sarape or two. An ofrenda, adorned with sugar skulls known as “calaveras,” sits at the heart of Zócalo Park. A sculpture of La Catrina towers gracefully above it all. Meanwhile, nearby Rancho del Zócalo Restaurante cooks-up delicious Mexican cuisine for lunch and dinner – that smell makes my mouth water! During your next visit to Disneyland park – between churros, attractions, shows and character encounters – set aside a few minutes to remember your ancestors, explore the décor, and savor all of the Día de los Muertos offerings. Día de los Muertos can be experienced at Disneyland park now through Nov. 4. For those of you who appreciate the inside workings of photography: this month’s photographs were made using a tripod, cable release and 24-105mm lens (locked at 24mm). The camera was set to ISO 100, aperture f/4, and exposed between 1/1.3 and 1/2.5 of a second. I ran a custom white balance based on grey card metering. And, it’s a minor detail that was totally out of my control, but I love what the clouds are doing in La Catrina photograph. View the full article

We popped into Epcot to see what was happening in addition to the Food and Wine Festival. We found quite a few updates around the park! Welcome to Epcot We’ll never tire of seeing this sight — especially on a sunny day! What’s New in Epcot’s Future World Our first stop was in Fountain View for a cool drink. We could choose from some of the Fall Drinks we’ve seen in all the Starbucks locations in the parks – Pumpkin Spice Latte and Salted Caramel Mocha Frappuccino. Fountain View Fall Drinks You can pair your drink with a Boston Cream Pie Cupcake, which is back in the bakery case! Boston Cream Pie Cupcake Boston Cream Pie Cupcake We also found the Chocolate Dipped Krispie Treats have returned. They look so festive with their Mickey sprinkles! We asked and were told some equipment is being fixed and it will be about three weeks until the flavored popcorn returns. We can’t wait to get in line for this ride opening in the Fall of 2021. The cast member we spoke to thought the vanilla with blue icing was being discontinued. Anna’s Birthday Cupcakes Even though Kringla is now open, the Midnattssol stand that served as Norway’s temporary bakery during Kringla’s refurbishment is still up, but not operational. We confirmed with a cast member that the Pizza Slices and Alcoholic Drinks are NOT snack credit eligible. However, they are Counter Service Credit eligible. Disney just announced 19 new, limited-time experiences coming to Walt Disney World in 2019. In the Magic Kingdom, Mickey and Minnie will be the highlights, with new parades, shows, and food (of course!) dedicated to the main mice! Cinderella Castle Mickey and Minnie’s Surprise Celebration Minnie and Mickey Not many details were released about this except that it will have new music, dancing, and “all sorts of other fun”. There will be live singers singing new arrangements of “Mickey Mouse Club” songs as well. The dates have been announced for the 2019 Epcot Festival of the Arts! The celebration of Culinary, Visual, and Performing Arts will take place January 18 – February 25, 2019! Festival of the Arts The 2019 Epcot Festival of the Arts will once again run 7 days a week and will feature the Food Studios (food booths similar to the Marketplace Booths at the Epcot Food and Wine Festival), the Disney on Broadway Concert Series, and more! Food Studios The Festival of the Arts features Food Studios located around Epcot’s World Showcase! Much like the Marketplace Booths for the Epcot Food and Wine Festival, the Food Studios bring enhanced food offerings to Festival guests. Unique to the Festival of the Arts is a focus on presentation of the dishes. Le Coucher de Soleil: Sunset Mango and Raspberry Cake Many of the items are their own works of art! Check out menus and food photos from the Festival of the Arts! Disney on Broadway Concert Series The Disney on Broadway Concert Series is expanding to seven days a week in 2019! And this is a Surprise Celebration, after all, so you can expect more Limited-Time Magic entertainment and other experiences to pop up periodically around Magic Kingdom Park. 6.
