In it, Pocahontas uses the marathon – which travels across Disney property – to experience everything the resort has to offer. “Pocahontas runs through the forest with grace and pride,” Ashley said. “It’s easy to imagine her wanting to participate in the Walt Disney World Marathon!” View the full article

Epcot’s World Showcase Wine Walk has been something of a hidden gem for many years. Wine Walk sign This program allowed guests to enjoy six pours of wine by stopping at three designated locations in World Showcase — the Germany Pavilion’s Weinkeller, Italy’s La Bottega Italia, and France’s Aux Vins de France — offering two pours each for a fixed price. Weinkeller in the Germany Pavilion Over the years, though, it’s gone from a GREAT deal at $20, to an OK deal at $32. However, during our time today in Epcot, we learned from Cast Members that the wine walk may have been discontinued. You can still try a variety of wines. For instance, at the Weinkeller, you can still try a Red or White Wine Flight featuring German pours. Current Wine Flight sign in Germany’s Weinkeller And you should still find Flights in the previously participating country pavilions. Wines in Italy France has a Champagne Flight available. France Champagne Flight Additionally, the acrylic wine glasses that were included over the past couple of years with the Wine Walk are still available for purchase. Acrylic Wine Glass sign But Wine Walks were not able to be purchased today, and it was the understanding of the Cast Members we spoke with that there are no current plans to bring the Wine Walk back. Guests who have already purchased the Wine Walk, but not finished it, can still receive their pours as tracked by the Wine Walk Passport received upon purchasing. We don’t know if this is long-term, short-term, or permanent. Stay tuned to the DFB newsletter for updates. Join the DFB Newsletter to get all the breaking news right in your inbox! If you’re planning a Disney World vacation you’ll probably discover that it can be just a bit overwhelming with Advance Dining Reservations, FastPass+ selections, and more — and you quickly come up with a whole list of questions that you don’t have answers to. Cinderella Castle Our good friends at Small World Vacations have been answering planning questions for years, even those that might sound strange to seasoned Disney World visitors but are totally logical to novices. These are five common questions along with ANSWERS from the agents at Small World Vacations! 1. “It’s my birthday, can I spend the day touring the parks with Mickey Mouse?” — While Disney goes out of their way to acknowledge your special celebration, the Disney Characters are not able to accompany guests for an entire day in the parks. You can find out where to meet your favorite Disney friend in the park map guides, your MyDisneyExperience account and by asking at your Disney Resort concierge or Guest Relations in the parks. 2. “Can a Disney Princess come to our room and read my child a bedtime story?” — Disney Princesses can’t tuck your children in at night but you can meet Disney Princesses like Belle, Merida, Ariel, Cinderella, or Pocahontas and take a pic with them in the theme parks. Or, you can dine with Disney Royalty including Snow White and Jasmine at select character meals. Check your MyDisneyExperience.com app for times and locations. Click here for Princess Experiences at Walt Disney World. Dine with Snow White! 3. “How can we sleep in Cinderella’s Castle?” — There really is a royal suite located high above the crowds in the castle in the Magic Kingdom. You can’t book it, but has been a top prize in past Disney sweepstakes. The next best thing to spending the night is dining with Cinderella and Friends at Cinderella’s Royal Table. And right next door, your little one can feel like a Princess with a magical make-over at the Bibiddi Bobiddi Boutique. 4. “Can I take the monorail from my Disney Resort to the theme parks?” — Yes, but only if you’re staying at one of the hotels closest to the Magic Kingdom – the Contemporary, Bay Lake Tower, Polynesian Village, and Grand Floridian Resort and Spa and Villas. You can ride the Monorail from the Ticket and Transportation Center to Epcot. There are also buses, boats, and the soon-to-be operational Disney Skyliner to take you from your Disney Resort to the theme parks (the Skyliner will be available at Caribbean Beach, Pop Century, and Art of Animation). And if you’d rather not wait for Disney transportation, you can call for a Minnie Van to drive you around Walt Disney World. Take a Minnie Van to your destination at Disney World! 5. “I don’t want to wait for the theme park rides. Can I pay to skip the lines?” — You don’t have to pay to skip the lines. Disney has a free service called FastPass+. Disney Resort guests can set up “reservations” in their MyDisneyExperience account 60 days in advance for three rides or experiences each day during their Walt Disney World Vacation. If you want to pay for super-duper access to the rides, a VIP tour with a Disney Guide for 7 hours is the ultimate “cut-the-line” experience. You have questions…Small World Vacations has answers! If you’re anything like us, you’re anxiously seeking details about Galaxy’s Edge at Walt Disney World’s Disney’s Hollywood Studios. Scheduled to open in the fall of 2019, work continues in earnest… at least as much as we can see. On a visit to the park yesterday, we were able to capture a little more detail of this building that’s being constructed adjacent to Tatooine Traders. Grand Avenue Structure Wrapping is down on this project (it was there just last week), so we can see a lot more detail, like the green tile roof and linear, simple overall design. Grand Avenue Structure No word yet on what this building is, but there’s a large opening on the front. Maybe a small storefront? A place to grab a snack? Or just a DVC sales location? Time will tell! Grand Avenue Structure We also peeked over the wall in Toy Story Land to see what we could see. There’s plenty of scaffolding still in place, but the topography looks really cool. Galaxy’s Edge Construction Check out these recently released details about Galaxy’s Edge! As for Disney’s Hollywood Studios Skyliner station: we spied more red detailing being added. Walls have gone up around Sleeping Beauty Castle in Disneyland marking the beginning of refurbishment season in Southern California. Walls up around Sleeping Beauty Castle During the slower months of January and February, Disneyland frequently closes some rides and attractions for refurbishment. In addition to Astro Orbitor and Splash Mountain closures scheduled for this Spring, the iconic Sleeping Beauty Castle will also get some much needed repairs. The roof of Sleeping Beauty Castle suffered damage from the 60th Anniversary Diamond Celebration decorations that were up way back in 2015 and 2016; there’s been some minor restoration works since then, but it was time for a big fix. Decorations from Disneyland’s 60th Anniversary Upon entering Disneyland, guests will find grey walls surrounding the base of the castle. To get to Fantasyland, guests are being asked to use the Big Thunder Mountain Trail or the Parade Route along the Matterhorn. For those of you worried about photos, you’ll want to take them further down Main Street as the top of the castle is uncovered – for now… Sign directs guests to Fantasyland during castle refurbishment According to the OC Register, Disneyland plans to spend $300,000 to re-roof Sleeping Beauty Castle. We’re expecting a pretty extensive renovation that will involve scaffolding and scrims that will likely block some of the castle from view. We checked out the permits – and fear not! – there will be no major changes to the castle beyond the fixes to the roof, which involved installing fibre-reinforced plastic on the turrets. Expect the same signature warm pink towers and bright blue roofs once the walls come down! Sign on Sleeping Beauty Castle construction wall As of now, the Sleeping Beauty Castle Walkthrough is still open to guests; however, construction will force that attraction to close beginning January 17th. This attraction will reopen, and the walls will come down, sometime in the Spring. Get Your Ears On — A Mickey and Minnie Celebration ©Disney Luckily, Disneyland guests have a few things to look forward to while the castle undergoes these renovations! Get Your Ears On – A Mickey and Minnie Celebration kicks off on January 18th with the return of Mickey’s Soundsational Parade and a brand new nighttime show – Mickey’s Mix Magic.
