The holiday season is already upon us here at Walt Disney World Resort, with our theme parks decorated in lovely seasonal decor once again. For the next several weeks, we’ll be sharing holiday spirit in our Disney Doodles series, as well. The inspiration for today’s Disney Doodle came from Disney’s Winter Summerland Miniature Golf, which offers guests a year-round dose of holiday cheer. According to artist Evan Peltier, Chip and Dale may make this wonderful miniature golf course their playground. View the full article

Walt Disney World’s Disney Springs is packed wall-to-wall with terrific places to grab a meal, but sometimes, even with all the new choices, you might want to enjoy an old favorite. For us, Earl of Sandwich has been a consistently tasty spot to pick up a quick service sandwich and sides. And at a recent media event, we were excited to revisit two holiday favorites and a brand new holiday offering! Earl of Sandwich in Disney Springs You know the holiday eats are a big deal with the Earl is in the house — holding his beloved Holiday Turkey Sandwich. Earl with Sandwich Since this was a holiday event, you’ll want to know how to treat yourself even while buying a little somethin’ for someone else. At Earl of Sandwich this holiday season, if you purchase a $25 gift card, you’ll get a $5 holiday reward card, too! Earl of Sandwich Holiday Gift Card Offer And the holiday food offerings? They’re even better than a reward card… because you can eat ’em! Earl’s holiday spread! First up, the something new this season! The Holiday Ham Sandwich is like holiday party leftovers in sandwich form — which can’t be bad! (Note that back in 2013, Earl also offered a Holiday Ham Sandwich — but this one is different despite the identical name!) Holiday Ham Sandwich This brand new sandwich comes on the Earl’s signature crispy artisan bread, toasted golden brown. Holiday Ham Sandwich Inside, you’ll find simple but delicious components that work really well together: sliced ham, cheddar cheese, yams, and cranberry sauce! Holiday Ham Sandwich The Holiday Ham Sandwich is packed with thinly sliced ham, which is salty and awesome. And the cheddar cheese is a great match for the protein. Holiday Ham Sandwich The yams are brightly colored and provide a cool visual contrast, plus they — along with the cranberry sauce — add a hint of sweetness and a ton of holiday flavor to the sandwich. Holiday Ham Sandwich Look, it’s not the prettiest thing you’ll ever see on the inside, but it’s so good. This is an awesome new addition to the holiday menu at Earl of Sandwich! Holiday Ham Sandwich The second holiday sandwich offering will be a familiar one for many of you: the Holiday Turkey Sandwich! Holiday Turkey Sandwich This baby used to be a holiday season only offering, but it was so popular, Earl added it to the menu permanently! So the good news is, you can celebrate the holidays all year long at Earl of Sandwich! The bad news… there is no bad news. It’s a delicious sandwich, and you can eat it every day of the year. Holiday Turkey Sandwich The Holiday Turkey Sandwich features that same artisan bread, which is a great size and vessel for the components. Holiday Turkey Sandwich We love how it ends up encasing all the interior bits, which means the sandwich stays nice and hot, and the components don’t immediately drop all over the place when you take a bite. Holiday Turkey Sandwich The Holiday Turkey Sandwich really has all the big hitters from Thanksgiving: turkey, cranberry sauce, gravy, and stuffing! The salty/sweet/tart combination is really the best part of this sandwich. Holiday Turkey Sandwich There’s also some mayo on there for a little added creaminess, but if you’re not a big mayonnaise fan, you can request they omit that (or give it a try, since the flavor is not pronounced). Holiday Turkey Sandwich The flavors really combine well, and you get a little of everything in every bite. The Holiday Turkey Sandwich is a classic for a reason! Holiday Turkey Sandwich If you want to sweeten up your holiday at Earl of Sandwich, go for the Peppermint Brownie. Holiday Peppermint Brownie This is a traditional Earl chocolate brownie with a slightly crackly top — and I seriously LOVE these. They’re some of the best brownies in Disney World. But what makes it holiday-ready is the smattering of peppermint bits that are sprinkled across the top. Holiday Peppermint Brownie The peppermint bits are truly crushed peppermints, so there are lots of irregular shapes and various amounts of crunch as a result. But that texture is a great foil for the moist brownie. Holiday Peppermint Brownie The peppermint pieces are only on the brownie, not in it, so if you want to share with someone who’s not big into peppermint, they might be able to pluck some brownie sans peppermint. Or just…you know…get a brownie without peppermint? Yeah. We like to help. Holiday Peppermint Brownie That crumbly top is one of our favorite things about a brownie, and this brownie has got it goin’ on! Holiday Peppermint Brownie The Earl has done it again: great holiday offerings that’ll fuel our holiday shopping and Christmas Tree Trail exploring in Disney Springs! And you can get yours from November 5 through December 31! And west coasters: remember that Earl of Sandwich in Downtown Disney Anaheim reopened for a “limited” time back in October, so you don’t have to miss out on any of the holiday fun! As a Guest Relations Hostess, J’Amy Pacheco is a great resource for Disneyland Resort guests. In addition to giving guided tours of Disneyland park, J’Amy also leads the popular “Walk in Walt’s Footsteps” tour, showing guests the inspiration and creativity behind Walt’s first theme park and the original Magic Kingdom. The guided tours program has been providing guests with the opportunity to view the Disneyland Resort in a different way for 60 years. J’Amy notes, “Guided tours go all the back to Walt Disney’s time. In fact, I think you could say that Walt Disney was the very first tour guide. The rest of us have just followed in his footsteps.” J’Amy also gives us a tour of her experience through Disney Aspire — an education investment program that covers 100% of tuition for cast members who want to pursue their dreams of college or professional skills. J’Amy was among the first Disneyland Resort cast members to sign up. In this “Every Role a Starring Role,” learn how J’Amy brings to life the Disneyland Resort for guests and understand her new journey returning to school with assistance from the new education program, Disney Aspire. You should see our list of things we can’t wait for at Disney; the Skyliner, Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge, and the two new rides at Epcot, Guardians of the Galaxy and Ratatouille. At least we get the Skyliner and Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge in 2019. Guardians of the Galaxy and Ratatouille are coming to Epcot in 2021. We checked on the construction progress of these two rides this week. Epcot’s New Ratatouille Ride Construction The new Ratatouille ride will be behind the buildings that are currently in the France pavilion in Epcot. Epcot’s New Ratatouille Ride Construction As we walked from the France pavilion to the Japan pavilion we were able to get a good look at the sheer size of the Guardians of the Galaxy ride building! This ride will change the Epcot skyline. Epcot’s Guardians of the Galaxy Ride Building from Japan In addition to changing the Epcot skyline, we are also watching the former Universe of Energy building transform into the queue area for the new Guardians ride. Epcot’s Guardians of the Galaxy Ride Queue Building Epcot’s Guardians of the Galaxy Ride Queue Building The removal of the solar panels from the roof is complete, and it looks like they are working on some of the accented “steps” on the end of the building that gave it a very distinctive look in its former life. Toy Story Land is a huge draw for everyone in the family. But Alien Swirling Saucers is especially appealing to the preschool set. There’s so much stimulation — bright colors, flashing lights, space-age music, and so much more. Make sure you look up, down and all around so you don’t miss the details. The first time I rode Alien Swirling Saucers I was so eager to take a spin, I walked right by the adorable toy robots who stand guard at the attraction entrance and just today I noticed the playful Cooties figures tucked away near the restrooms. There’s one thing you surely won’t miss — the 14-foot-tall Buzz Lightyear proudly positioned at the entry for awesome photo ops. As you pass through the Alien Swirling Saucers queue you wander into a galactic play set and board alien-guided rocket ships. From there, you gently twirl around Planet Pepperonia with an ominous claw looming overhead. A bonus for preschool families is the 32-inch height requirement, and although it spins and whirls, it’s perfect for young kids. View the full article

Oh boy! Mickey’s birthday month has arrived. If you’re as excited as I am to start celebrating, then read on for ways to show your favorite mouse some extra birthday love during your next Disney cruise. Watch “Mickey’s 90th Spectacular” on Funnel Vision. The world is coming together to celebrate Mickey Mouse with a star-studded event airing Sunday, November 4 at 8|7c on ABC, and we’re bringing the party to you on the big screen! Head to the upper decks to enjoy the dazzling show while surrounded by fellow fans. Catch the premiere this weekend, and then the replay during cruises throughout the month. Take a photo with the big cheese and post it with #Mickey90. Check your Navigator to find out when and where you can meet Mickey each day, both onboard and at Castaway Cay. Bonus points if you dress to match whichever stylish outfit he’s sporting, whether it’s his captain uniform, pirate garb, formal wear or tropical attire. Explore the ship for Hidden Mickeys. Our ships are filled with subtle nods to the timeless icon of Mickey Mouse. Make a game out of it with your family to see who can find the most. Hint: grab your snorkel and you might even discover hidden treasures under the sea at our private island paradise, Castaway Cay. Show off your Mickey-shaped snacks. Be sure to snap your Instagram-worthy photos before taking a big bite of your Mickey ice cream bar – or my personal favorite, Mickey waffles! Of course holding up your yummy food and drinks in front of the funnel or turquoise tropical waters will leave all of your followers craving their own celebration on Disney Cruise Line. Soak up the entertainment. Mickey takes the stage all throughout the cruise, and there’s no better way to pay tribute to the true original than letting him bring a smile to your face. Dance with him at deck parties, play swashbuckling games with him on Pirate Night and give him the standing ovation he deserves after our Broadway-style shows. Let the party begin!
