Another cute cupcake alert for you ! We were over at Disney’s Contemporary Resort today to showcase the new Gingerbread Castle being erected for the holiday season and we couldn’t help stopping over at Contempo Cafe for a couple of yummy treats! Pastry and Baked Goods Case at Contempo Cafe Today we get to show you a seriously adorable Limited Time Only (VERY limited…as in today ONLY.) Minnie’s Not-So-Scary Berry Cupcake as well as a seasonal (i.e. limited time, but not quite as limited as Minnie) cupcake — the Apple Cupcake! Minnie’s Not So Scary Berry Cupcake She’s definitely ready for her close-up! This adorable one-day-only Minnie Mouse Not-So-Scary Berry Halloween cupcake features dyed vanilla cake, raspberry jam filling, and vanilla buttercream icing. The Minnie witch hat is made of white chocolate and filled with blackberry marshmallow. Minnie Mouse Not So Scary Berry Cupcake This cute dessert is such a work of art! The frosting is a vanilla buttercream that actually has a pretty good flavor, but it is very green! Minnie’s Not-so-Scary Berry Cupcake from Contempo Cafe Notice the bow, the chocolate ears, and the spiderweb. So detailed! Minnie’s hat is held on with bright orange icing. Minnie’s Not-so-Scary Berry Cupcake It’s so clever how they’ve filled Minnie’s white chocolate witch hat instead of just leaving it hollow! Unfortunately, we couldn’t taste much flavor in the blackberry marshmallow at all. Minnie’s Not-so-Scary Berry Cupcake How perfectly Halloween-y is the inside? SO GREEN! At first glance, the filling looks black, but it’s actually dark purple. What a great filling-to-cake ratio, too! Not only does this cupcake have the perfect look for Halloween, but it tastes good! The dyed-green vanilla cake is fluffy and moist. Our favorite part was the jam filling, though! It was sweet but not too sweet and had a nice, complex flavor and a bit of tartness. The filling was wasn’t runny, either. Kids will probably love the Minnie’s Not-so-Scary Berry Cupcake because it’s so bright and fun, and adults might be pleasantly surprised by the flavor. Just don’t forget to grab extra napkins! Apple Cupcake While it’s not as frightful as its bewitching Minnie counterpart, the Apple Cupcake from Contempo Cafe in Disney’s Contemporary Resort is a great choice if you want an autumnal treat that’s a just little more neutral-hued. Apple Cupcake from Contempo Cafe This seasonal sweetie is an apple cupcake filled with apples and cinnamon buttercream icing and topped with apple pie filling. The first thing we noticed was how heavenly it smells! Just like fresh-baked apple pie. Apple Cupcake from Contempo Cafe The apple topping was our favorite part: it tasted just like apple pie filling, but the little bits of apple were still nice and crisp. That texture went really well with the soft, fluffy cake! The filling inside of the cupcake was similar, but it had fewer apple bits. Apple Cupcake Inside We were excited about the cinnamon buttercream frosting, but this version seemed to be missing a little something. The cinnamon and vanilla flavors didn’t really come through. If you’re an apple pie fan or you were hoping for more apple flavor and less frosting from the Not-so-Poison Apple Cupcake, try this! Happy Halloween! It may be Halloween, but we saw a sure sign of Christmas today! The Contemporary Resort’s Gingerbread Castle in Disney World is going up! Hello from the Contemporary We can see the Castle, is in its “new” home for the second year in a row by the windows on the fourth floor. There it is — peeking out from between the Contemporary shops on the Grand Canyon Concourse! Contemporary Gingerbread Castle We can smell the gingerbread in the air! Here come the holidays! The castle is a clear nod to Mary Blair, Disney imagineer and artist responsible for the design of “it’s a small world” in the parks as well as the amazing mural opposite the gingerbread castle in the Contemporary itself. Can you see the “iasw” elements to this? Contemporary Gingerbread Castle It will grow into, we’re assuming, a place for gingerbread figures of Cinderella and her Prince Charming to greet Contemporary Resort guests through the holiday season like they did last year! 2017 Contemporary Gingerbread Display You can also see the little gingerbread stand off to the left, where we’re hoping to find sweet eats and treats very soon! Gingerbread Cookies at the Contemporary in 2017 I LOVE THAT THIS IS ALREADY HAPPENING! Can’t wait to see the other displays take shape in the resorts. OK, I’m dead. This is easily the most adorable thing ever. Mike Wozowski Cupcake We’ve shown you countless halloween cupcakes over the past two months — caramel poison apple cupcake at Wilderness Lodge, the not-so-poison apple cupcake at Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party (my love.), and more — but this one is, by far, the most adorable. Our team member here at DFB, Emily Beck, couldn’t pass up the Mike Wozowski cupcake at Sunshine Seasons in Epcot’s The Land pavilion today. And it’s a good thing, because he’s ONLY. AVAILABLE. TODAY. Yep — if you’re in Epcot tonight, head on over to pick him up, because he’s a one day only kind of guy. HIS LITTLE HANDS!!!!! His adorable little teeth! Those wrinkly hands! And sitting on a fluff of Sulley fur?! What?!? OK, OK, AJ, FOCUS. The cupcake itself is chocolate cake. The center was supposed to be stuffed with caramel and pretzel, but Emily noted that…well…there was pretty much nothing there. The icing is buttercream (and delicious), and the fondant Mike actually had flavor. Overall, a good buy if you like chocolate cupcakes with a bunch of buttercream…or you like Mike Wozowski…or you run a Disney food instagram account. ;-D The cupcake is $5.99 and, again, LIMITED TO TODAY ONLY! Here’s a scary thought on this Halloween. Did you know that all Internet communications in North America run through a single building … and that they let filmmakers in that place?! In part three of my six-part conversation with “Ralph Breaks the Internet” producer Clark Spencer (“Lilo & Stich,” “Bolt,” “Winnie the Pooh,” “Wreck-It Ralph” and “Zootopia”), the Oscar winner recalls his team’s research trip to a Los Angeles office tower that helped shape the filmmakers’ vision for the physical world of the Internet. Look for a new clip from our conversation here on the Disney Parks Blog each Wednesday until “Ralph Breaks the Internet” opens in theaters on Nov. 21. View the full article

There are signs of change and building anticipation for the arrival of the new land Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge in Hollywood Studios all over the park. We checked in on three things on this visit: the changing Tatooine Traders to see the progress of their refurbishment, the work being done for the missing Star Wars: A Galaxy Far Far Away stage show, and finally what we can see of construction progress on Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge. Star Wars: A Galaxy Far Far Away stage area As you can see, the stage area for Star Wars: A Galaxy Far Far Away is still undergoing some serious work. Hollywood Studios is a changing park these days. In addition to all the work being done for the arrival of Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge in the Fall of 2019 a new ride is coming to the Chinese Theater, and the former Pixar Place is being transformed into a city block in Municiberg, home of The Incredibles. Hollywood Studios Chinese Theater The Chinese Theater is being transformed for the new ride, Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railway coming in 2019. There was some scaffolding up around the Theater, but that has been removed as well as the signage for the Great Movie Ride that used to be in this building. It also looks like some elements of the the Theater have been removed such as the gold figure in the photo below from last summer. Hollywood Studios Chinese Theater On your way to Toy Story Land you’ll find the construction walls to the left of this Joffrey’s stand are still up, but a lot of the walls blocking the view of the stand are no longer there. One of the activities (besides eating and drinking) at the Epcot Food and Wine Festival that has proven to be popular is Remy’s Hide and Squeak Scavenger Hunt. We saw a lot of you and your kiddos completing this fun activity this year, and it has been so popular they ran out of the prizes — but don’t despair, new prizes are here! Remy’s Hide and Squeak Scavenger Hunt Prizes If you aren’t familiar with this activity, the map is available for purchase at a few locations around Epcot, then you and your kiddo look for a small statue of Remy hidden in each country. When you find it pop the sticker on the map. Once your map is complete you have earned a prize. Originally your prize was one of the plastic cups shown above, but those are now out of stock. The new prize is a Can Koozie with the same design on it as the cups. The only difference is the cups had a bit of a 3D effect on them, these Koozies do not have any special effects, except keeping your can cool! Remy’s Hide and Squeak Scavenger Hunt Prizes We find both of these prizes to be useful and like that they carried the same design onto these Koozies. Remy’s Hide and Squeak Scavenger Hunt Prizes What do you think of this substitution? If you’re coming to the Food and Wine Festival (hurry up, it ends November 12!) will you still complete this activity with your kiddo? At Disney’s Animal Kingdom, we know the importance of taking a break from the every day for some fun. For animals in our care, this fun comes in the form of enrichment, and it plays an important part in their day-to-day routine with mental and physical activities that appeal to the animals’ behaviors. With Halloween and fall in full swing, we’re celebrating the spirit of the season in our enrichment by crafting some pumpkin treats. Our animal care team looks forward to decorating the pumpkins each year and coming up with new, novel ways to excite and encourage play and foraging behaviors among the animals. Some of the keepers even add bugs, worms and other tasty treats inside the pumpkins, which prompts the animals to do a little exploring, too. When the animals discover the pumpkins in their habitats, some start to paw and pounce, others dig into snacks, and others shred and smash the gourds within minutes. Here’s a peek at our pumpkin palooza with mandrills, gorillas, tigers, meerkats, hippos and more. View the full article

Meet and Greet Vampirina at Hollywood Studios You and your kiddo can meet Vampirina in Animation Courtyard in Disney’s Hollywood Studios. Vampirina is set up in Hollywood Studios’ Animation Courtyard in a replica of her room. She’s ready to welcome you and your family for a meet, greet, and photo. In today’s special Halloween edition of Disney Doodles, artist Ashley Taylor imagines what Moana would do if she could visit the Walt Disney World Resort. According to Ashley Taylor, Moana is terrific at pulling together costumes, just as she did when she ventured with Maui into the Realm of Monsters to retrieve Maui’s hook. So, she may seek out a place where she can show of her skills at Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party at Magic Kingdom Park. “Moana wore a disguise to try to trick Tamatoa, so it’s easy to imagine Moana wanting to wear that sparkly seashell outfit to Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party,” Ashley said. “Especially if she can bring Pua along!” View the full article

Today we’re sharing our final look at the Haunted Mansion at Magic Kingdom Park, in which we learn the story behind a family of busts that appears in the mansion’s cemetery. Not only does this family – the Dreads – feature a series of humorously unamused expressions – they also display a mystery right out in the open for guests to solve! The tradition of busts appearing at the Haunted Mansion originated with the work of Disney Legends Marc Davis and Blaine Gibson in their original visual development of the attraction. According to Imagineer Steve Vagnini, there was once a plan to include a marble bust of the Ghost Host inside! In the version we know today, busts with wandering eyes follow you through the mansion’s library and come to life during the “swinging wake” in the graveyard. In today’s video, provided by Walt Disney Imagineering, Imagineer Diana Brost lets us in on the storyline behind the Dread family, who appear as a family of busts in the cemetery. According to her, a murder mystery has been planted among the busts, ready and waiting for guests to solve. The Dread family was led by wealthy Uncle Jacob, who ended up succumbing to a mysterious poisoning. Guests who take the time to examine the smaller details of the busts and read the epitaphs underneath may be able to solve the mystery! According to Diana, guests who solve the mystery also may spot a callback to this storyline inside the mansion itself! Check out the video above to hear all the “dreadful” details and see if you can solve the mystery on your next visit. Want to learn more secrets of The Haunted Mansion? Tomorrow is Halloween, and VERY soon, Disney World will be trading jack-o-lanterns for Christmas trees and holiday garlands. But Pumpkin Spice season is NOT over yet, my friends! Kringla Bakeri og Kafe Case in point: Kringla Bakeri og Kafe in Epcot’s Norway Pavilion is serving up Pumpkin Pretzels! Pumpkin Pretzels You’ll find them tucked in the case near the other sweet pretzels like the Chocolate and Almond and Cinnamon. Pumpkin Pretzel The Pumpkin Pretzel is decorated with fall leaf sprinkles (along with some chocolate), dusted with spices, and drizzled with icing. Pumpkin Pretzel The nice thing is, you can really taste the pumpkin in the pretzel — it’s not just the spices (though there is also lots of cinnamon flavor to be enjoyed). Pumpkin Pretzel There are even some raisins mixed in, too. The entire thing tastes great, with terrific fall flavors. Pumpkin Pretzel But you’ll want to get your Pumpkin Pretzel at Kringla Bakeri soon… because Epcot’s International Festival of the Holidays begins on November 18th, when pumpkin treats will make way for Holiday Kitchens. And it will all be here before you know it! Find all sorts of great Disney World pumpkin treats and eats in our DFB YouTube Video! Would you like to try a Pumpkin Pretzel at Kringla Bakeri og Kafe?
