  1. We’ve got some pretty rough news coming out of Disney’s Animal Kingdom right now, unfortunately, and a lot of people are NOT going to be happy about it. Rafiki’s Planet Watch Disney just closed the remainder of DinoLand U.S.A. on February 2nd to make way for the new Tropical Americas land, and while we’re looking forward to it, it means there’s a WHOLE park of the park that won’t be available for the foreseeable future. However, now things are about to get WORSE, because Disney has just announced two MORE temporary closures for the park that close ANOTHER section. Disney has just announced that beginning on February 23rd, the Affection Section at Rafiki’s Planet Watch in Animal Kingdom will be temporarily closing to make way for the new Bluey experience coming to the park for Cool KIDS’ SUMMER. Affection Section However, there are other opportunities over in this area, like the Animation Academy, and checking out what the vet techs are doing that you can still check out, right? WRONG. Disney also announced that this temporary closure will also affect the Wildlife Express Train, which is the ONLY way to get from the main part of Animal Kingdom over to Rafiki’s Planet Watch. Therefore, this ENTIRE section of the park will also be closed until summer. The train will be entirely closed! While we’re relieved to see that these are temporary closures, and we’re hoping they’ll reopen for guests as soon as Cool KIDS’ SUMMER begins on May 26th, that still means we’re going to basically have three whole months where yet another land is closed in Animal Kingdom. As this park is already the one lots of people thought of as a “half-day park,” even before these closures (and we used to argue against that), now this park has REALLY become a half-day park while all this construction goes on. We’re looking forward to seeing this new Bluey experience this summer, don’t get us wrong, especially since we know kids will love it, but for the time being? It’s gonna be tough. Gabby the cow However, if you’re heading to Animal Kingdom during this closure, there are LOTS of fantastic experiences you can check out in the park! We love the rides, of course, but we also recommend making time to see Festival of the Lion King and Finding Nemo: The Big, Blue…and Beyond! These shows are great for all ages, and they’re truly spectacular. Don’t forget to also keep you eyes out for DeVine, who blends in with her surroundings, so spotting her feels extra special. DeVine! 2. One of the many perks that draws guests to staying at a Disney World hotel is Early Theme Park Entry, because it allows access to Disney World before others. Disney Springs Early Theme Park Entry is one of the most popular perks for Disney World hotel guests. Being able to enter the theme parks 30 minutes before official opening can make a huge difference, especially on busy mornings. But what about Disney Springs? Does Early Entry apply there, too? Early Theme Park Entry does not apply to Disney Springs. This perk is specifically for Walt Disney World theme parks (Magic Kingdom, EPCOT, Hollywood Studios, and Animal Kingdom) and is available only to guests staying at eligible Disney hotels. Disney Springs is a shopping, dining, and entertainment district, not a theme park, so Early Entry benefits do not extend here. But there are still reasons to head here in the morning. Disney Springs Officially, Disney Springs opens at 10 AM, which is when most stores and many restaurants begin operating. That said, Disney Springs has a bit more flexibility than the theme parks when it comes to mornings. According to planDisney, “So while there are no set times for the parking garages to open, you can generally expect them to be open by around 9 AM. This is usually the same for security, too.” This means guests can typically arrive, park, and walk around Disney Springs starting around 9:00 AM, even though most stores won’t open until 10 AM. Disney Springs What to Do Early at Disney Springs Even if most stores don’t open until 10:00 AM, arriving early still has its perks. Starting around 9 AM, you can explore the walkways, take photos without heavy crowds, and enjoy the atmosphere before the midday rush. Disney Springs is much calmer in the morning, which makes it a great time for strolling and sightseeing. While you can’t shop before 10 AM, being there early means you’re among the first guests inside when stores open, and popular merchandise is often freshly restocked. If you’re hunting for limited items or popular souvenirs, morning shopping can be a smart strategy. Disney Springs Slow Mornings at Disney Springs While Early Entry doesn’t apply, several dining locations open before 10 AM, making Disney Springs a great option for a laid-back breakfast or coffee run. Quick Breakfast Options: Joffrey’s Coffee & Tea Company – Opens at 9 AM and is great for coffee, donuts, and pastries. Starbucks – Opens at 9 AM, giving you a familiar stop for coffee and breakfast sandwiches. Earl of Sandwich – Opens at 9 AM and is ideal for a grab-and-go breakfast sandwich if you want something more filling. Everglazed Donuts & Cold Brew – Opens at 9 AM. This is a favorite for gourmet donuts and cold brew, perfect for a relaxed start to the day. The Basket at Wine Bar George – Opens at 10:30 AM, so while it’s not early-early, it’s a great brunch option if you’re easing into a late morning. These spots make Disney Springs a solid choice if you’re skipping rope drop or planning a non-park morning. Everglaze Perks of Going to Disney Springs Early Even without Early Entry, there are still advantages to an early visit. There will be lower crowds compared to midday and evening are a great reason to head over there early. Easier parking and quicker security, as well as Relaxed breakfast options instead of rushing into a theme park. It’s an especially good option for arrival days, rest days, or mornings before an evening park visit. Disney Springs! If you’re looking for a low-stress morning filled with coffee, donuts, and window-shopping before the hustle begins, Disney Springs might be exactly what you need. 3. This is one of those travel deals people kick themselves for missing. ©Southwest Airlines A limited-time promotion is currently available through Southwest Airlines, allowing travelers to unlock one of the airline’s most valuable benefits with minimal qualifying travel. The offer won’t last much longer, and knowing about it now could change how you plan future trips. If you’ve ever dreamed of flying with a friend or loved one for virtually free, now might be your last chance to take advantage of one of the best travel perks out there. Southwest Airlines is once again offering a limited-time Companion Pass promotion, but the window to qualify is closing soon, and you’ll want to act fast if you don’t want to miss out! Southwest at MCO The Southwest Companion Pass is one of the most coveted travel rewards in the airline world and for good reason. Once you earn it, you can designate one person to fly with you on any Southwest flight you book for just the cost of taxes and fees, whether you use cash or Rapid Rewards points for your own ticket. That’s essentially a buy-one-get-one-free deal on flights. Premium Seating on ©Southwest Airlines Normally, earning a Companion Pass isn’t easy. You must either accumulate a whopping 135,000 qualifying Rapid Rewards points in a calendar year or take 100 qualifying one-way flights which is a tall order for most travelers. But for a short time, Southwest has brought back a special promotion that dramatically lowers the barrier. Southwest Airlines Here’s how the offer works: if you register for the promotion and then purchase and complete just one round-trip flight (or two one-way flights) by the promotional deadline, you’ll earn a Companion Pass valid for the fall travel season — with flying dates typically spanning several weeks later in the year. This means you could book one qualifying trip now and enjoy nearly free travel with a companion later on. ©Southwest Airlines The catch? You must register and book soon! The deadline is coming up fast on February 5th — and the travel for that qualifying trip must be completed by March 31st to count toward earning the pass. Once you’ve earned it, you’ll be able to designate a companion to fly with you on any eligible Southwest flight during the promotional period falling between August 10th and October 7th, subject to seat availability. Airline Cabin This short-term Companion Pass is not the year-long version many frequent flyers chase, but it’s still an incredible opportunity to bring someone along without paying full fare. Whether you’re planning fall travel, seasonal getaways, or just want a flexible perk to use later in the year, this is one of those rare airline promotions that can deliver serious value if you act before the offer expires. Don’t go anywhere! We’re always sharing the latest travel news, updates, and spilling our best travel tips and tricks along the way. Be sure to check back in with us at DFB for even more soon. 4. Love is in the air…and so is the smell of fresh Disney desserts! Valentine’s treats! For the upcoming holiday, Disney World has introduced several new limited-time treats designed to celebrate Valentine’s Day in the most Disney way possible. We sampled a mix of desserts and drinks to give you a clear, honest look at how they taste and whether they’re worth building into your day. Love is in the air at the Most Magical Place on Earth! That’s right, Valentine’s Day is just around the corner, and Disney World has once again launched a lineup of limited-time treats and desserts to help you celebrate the season of sweets in the most delicious way possible. From February 1st through mid-month, you’ll find all sorts of themed goodies popping up across Disney World’s parks, hotels, and Disney Springs, each with its own spin on romance, playful presentation, and of course, flavor. ©Disney Whether you’re planning a romantic getaway with your sweetheart, a fun Galentine’s outing with friends, or just want an excuse to indulge while you explore the parks, we’ve rounded up some of the newest Valentine’s treats, and we’re here to tell you how they taste, which ones are worth the stop, and whether these Instagram-worthy bites live up to the hype (and the price). Berry In Love Beignets Let’s start this Valentine’s roundup strong because these Berry In Love Beignets are genuinely a pleasant surprise. Right out of the gate, the texture stands out on these treats! You’ll find these over at Scat Cat Club Café at Disney’s Port Orleans Resort — French Quarters. These feel noticeably fluffier than your standard Disney beignets, with that soft, pillowy interior and just-right exterior bake that gives you structure without any dryness. Honestly? I kind of wish all beignets were made like this. Berry In Love Beignets Flavor-wise, the raspberry element is subtle but distinct. It’s not a fresh, tart berry moment — think more along the lines of the raspberry candy coating Disney often uses on ice cream toppings. It does lean slightly artificial, but it’s clearly raspberry, and it works well with the powdered sugar and light marshmallow drizzle. A single beignet The raspberry flavor appears to come from a coating on the outside of the beignets, which also gives them that pretty pink-tinged finish. The marshmallow is intentionally restrained and just enough to let you know it’s there without overpowering the beignet itself. That said, a dipping sauce situation might have been even better, giving you more control over how much sweetness you get in each bite (or letting you fully dunk, which…tempting!) Inside of the beignet Visually, these are absolutely adorable. The little candy hearts and edible glitter make them feel festive without crossing into gimmicky territory, and they’re very much in the same family as past seasonal favorites like the Ghoulish Beignets in terms of consistency and presentation. You get three generously sized beignets for $9.49, and while I don’t know that we could polish them all off solo in one sitting, they’re hefty enough that sharing feels natural. Between the texture, flavor, and portion size, this ends up being a solid value, and if you’re already a fan of Disney beignets or just want something seasonal and a little different, these are absolutely worth the trip over. Love Potion 67 If you’re looking for a Valentine’s Day drink that’s fun, approachable, and genuinely easy to sip, the Love Potion 67 delivers exactly that. You can expect to find this drink at eet by Maneet Chauhan at Disney Springs and it’s made with vodka, lemonade, wild strawberry flavoring, lemon sour, and topped with a festive toy. This one immediately leans playful and yes, you get to pick your toy! From tiny cupcakes to donuts and heart-shaped toppers, it’s a cute, customizable touch that makes the drink feel extra special (and very photo-friendly). Love Potion 67 Flavor-wise, this cocktail is essentially a wild strawberry lemonade vodka, with just enough lemon sour to keep things from tipping too sweet. There’s a mild tartness, but the dominant note is that familiar strawberry lemonade flavor — bright, refreshing, and very drinkable. Interestingly, it almost drifts into a watermelon-like vibe at times, likely thanks to how the strawberry and lemon play together. Either way though, it’s a pleasing flavor profile that doesn’t require a “cocktail palate” to enjoy. So cute! What really stands out here is how smooth the vodka is. It’s well mixed and mostly settles toward the bottom of the drink, so you barely taste it at all, especially at the start. As you get closer to the end, the drink does feel a bit fuller and more spirit-forward, but never harsh. Honestly, if you weren’t told there was vodka in it, you might just assume you’re sipping a really good strawberry lemonade…which can be both a compliment and a gentle warning. A closer look The one pleasant surprise we found of this one is that it isn’t a frozen drink. We were fully expecting a slushy situation, and were glad that wasn’t the case. It’s served as a standard liquid cocktail, which makes everything feel better balanced and easier to enjoy (though it does mean the toy topper won’t stay perched quite as long!) Pro tip: if you’re hoping to grab photos, opt for one of the lighter toys, because heavier ones tend to tip quickly. We LOVE our little cupcake! At $15.95, this feels right in line with Disney Springs cocktail pricing, and the combination of flavor, presentation, and sheer drinkability makes it a standout. In fact, it’s the kind of drink that turns heads — someone literally stopped us to ask about it and immediately went inside to order one themselves! Be Mine Éclair When it comes to seasonal desserts, Amorette’s Patisserie at Disney Springs consistently understands the assignment, and their Valentine’s lineup is no exception! We tried two of their limited-time offerings, and honestly? These are the kind of treats that make you wish Disney would keep them around a little longer. Be Mine Éclair Let’s start with the Be Mine Éclair, because Amorette’s is known for doing éclairs very well — and this one absolutely holds up that reputation. At $8, visually it’s adorable: pops of pink and red, a sleek raspberry coating, and a polished chocolate accent stamped with the Amorette’s logo. Inside of the éclair Inside, it’s filled with a light, whipped raspberry cream that’s used again on top to anchor the chocolate garnish. Instead of the traditional chocolate glaze, the entire éclair is coated in a raspberry finish similar to the berry treatment we saw earlier with the beignets and the flavor leans tart! This is a true raspberry-forward dessert, with a noticeable pucker that fans of sour-sweet flavors will appreciate. It’s clean, classic, and very satisfying if you’re looking for something reliable and well-executed. Valentine’s Entremet The Valentine’s Entremet, however, is where things get more interesting! At $8.25, this one feels like a true “share-with-your-sweetheart” dessert that’s layered, rich, and visually stunning. The base is a thick, heart-shaped chocolate layer that eats almost like a dense brownie, giving it a substantial, slightly crunchy bite. Inside is a white chocolate mousse with extra chocolate elements that make it feel indulgent without being overwhelming. Sitting on top is a glossy, gel-like layer that holds Chantilly-style whipped cream and a pocket of strawberry filling complete with actual strawberry pieces for texture and freshness. Finished with gold heart accents and chocolate sprinkles, it’s as pretty as it is complex. Valentine’s Entremet That complexity does mean it melts faster and can be a little harder to dig into, but the payoff is worth it! There’s a lot going on here, both in flavor and structure, and it feels thoughtfully composed rather than busy. From the side If you’re choosing just one, the entremet edges ahead thanks to its layered flavors and creative construction. But if you want a tried-and-true pastry that delivers exactly what you expect, the éclair is a rock-solid pick. Truthfully? They’re both excellent, and we really hope Amorette’s brings back some version of these in future seasonal rotations, because they absolutely nailed them both! So complex To wrap it all up, Disney World’s Valentine’s Day treats really understood the assignment this year. From fluffy, festive beignets to a dangerously drinkable cocktail and beautifully crafted pastries that feel just as special as the holiday itself, this lineup proves that these limited-time offerings are more than just cute — they’re genuinely well thought out and, for the most part, worth both the stop and the spend. If you’re visiting during the Valentine’s season, these are the kinds of snacks that add a little extra fun (and sweetness) to your day, whether you’re celebrating with a partner, friends, or just treating yourself. Just don’t wait too long though! These treats are fleeting, and some of them are absolutely worth falling in love with before they disappear. 5. We’ve all had our fair share of strange requests at jobs we’ve had in the past. Sometimes your employer wants you to clean a specific way, greet customers with a specific saying, or maybe there are some practices that you feel would be more efficient if they were done differently. ©Getty Images We’ve had some of our coworkers here work at Disney World, and yes, they’ve got some stories to tell, but we just got word about a surprings new rule that a popular restaurant has implemented for their employees, and it’s gotten us thinking — yes, we’ve had some weird rules at our jobs in the past, but none of them have ever been quite like this! 6. For many of us, our love of Disney started before we ever set foot into the parks. Instead, it was Disney movies that ignited that spark. ©Disney And, while Disney is still a powerhouse in the entertainment world, the company seems to have shifted its focus to a particular type of movie: sequels. It’s no secret that Disney is obsessed with making sequels, and there’s a very good reason why that is. The more sequels Disney makes, the more money they make — and here’s why. The Walt Disney Company recently held its first quarter earnings call for fiscal year 2026, and there was a major focus on the entertainment portion of the business. Disney reported its third-biggest year ever in 2025, and its ninth year as number one at the global box office. But, the movies that made that happen weren’t the first iteration of that IP. Walt Disney Company Headquarters ©LA Times Disney noted Avatar: Fire and Ash and Zootopia 2 as the two movies that helped it cross the multi-billion dollar threshold in 2025 — both sequels. Even when talking about the future outlook of the movie aspect of the business, CEO Bob Iger mentioned upcoming sequels almost exclusively, with The Devil Wears Prada 2, Toy Story 5, Avengers: Doomsday, and the live-action remake of Moana set to hit theaters in 2026 and beyond. Even the Mandalorian and Grogu movie coming out isn’t exactly original, with The Mandalorian series on Disney+ already having a massive fanbase. ©Marvel Studios Every big theatrical release mentioned in the earnings call is a sequel, and executives didn’t even mention its upcoming animated film, Hoppers, despite promotion elsewhere. Sequels not only drive ticket sales, but they also drive repeat watches of previous films — which seems to be a huge guarantee that Disney can keep subscriber churn down on Disney+. People tend to watch original films before sequels are released, which Disney noted in the recent call. ©Pixar Disney noted the “lift” that Disney+ received ahead of the theatrical releases of Avatar: Fire and Ash and Zootopia 2, something that is expected to continue once the films are available on the streaming service. ‘Zootopia 2’ Sequels, live-action remakes, and reboots have been integral to Disney’s movie strategy in recent years, with Inside Out 2, Deadpool & Wolverine, and Moana 2 all being the biggest domestic box office hits of any movie in 2024. Iger has previously mentioned how live-action remakes can bolster new technologies that help Disney’s classic stories “reach new generations of viewers.” ©Disney It ultimately boils down to money and nostalgia. Many of the kids who grew up with classic Disney movies are now adults with their own kids, and they want to share their love for these movies and the Disney parks with them. That, in turn, brings in more money for Disney both at the box office and at the parks, by adding in more IP. It seems as though Disney is operating under an “If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it” sort of mentality with sequels, especially given the upcoming slate of movies that are almost entirely that. We’ll have to wait and see how long this strategy works for the House of Mouse, but for now, don’t expect the sequel train to slow down anytime soon. 7. It’s not often that we call something “cringey,” especially when it comes to people, or something they’re doing, but we’re in Disney World A LOT, and that means we’ve seen some…questionable things. Magic Kingdom Some of the things we’ve seen are a little silly, and many of them we’ve also done ourselves, like tripping over the trolley tracks, or forgetting to pack a sweater and having to buy one in the gift shop so we don’t freeze. While we usually live our lives in a way that makes us confident enough to not care what other people think of us (and encourage you to do the same, for the most part), when you’re in Disney World, we are BEGGING you to PLEASE not do these eight cringey things. Being Rude To Cast Members We know that things can be stressful in the parks, especially if your day isn’t going as planned. However, it is NEVER okay to be rude to Cast Members, and honestly? When we’ve heard someone getting rude with them in the past, all we can think about is how they potentially WOULD have gotten help if they had just been kinder. Cast Members Cast Members WANT to help you. They want you to have the most magical time, but oftentimes, there are situations outside their control that you may be going to them about. If you’re kind, patient, and understanding, you may be surprised at what magic they CAN make (but they’re never OBLIGATED to make — some situations just don’t have a fix), but if you’re rude? Yeah, you’re not getting ANY of that potential magic. Not Listening to The Rules The rules in Disney World aren’t just there for fun — they’re there for a reason. Whether it’s to keep you safe, other guests from getting hurt, or to protect Disney’s rides, shows, and/or Cast Members, there’s a reason it’s there. That means that if you just decide to forgo it? Well, you could be putting people in danger. Entrance of EPCOT You may think that YOU can run in Disney World because you’re coordinated and won’t fall, but what if you turn a corner and run smack into a guest that you couldn’t see? Or what if the terrain changes, you don’t realize, and you go down, face-first? Perhaps you don’t see a problem with your kids climbing on things they aren’t supposed to, because you know they climb on stuff all the time and are fine. But what if they DO fall, or they move their foot wrong and accidentally kick someone in the face? Just follow the rules, it’s really not that hard! Talking on Speakerphone We can’t tell you how many times we’ve been wandering around the park and heard people having LOUD conversations with others on the phone, while the person on the other line is on speakerphone, so now EVERYONE can hear what’s going on. Then, sometimes they get mad when they notice you’re giving them looks — friends, if you’re opening up your conversation for EVERYONE to hear on speakerphone…it’s now a public conversation. Canada Pavilion at EPCOT Now, we know that sometimes the phone’s speaker isn’t great and you may have a hard time hearing, but you want to tell your family and friends back home what you’re seeing. We get it! That’s where it’s best to invest in a pair of earbuds or headphones to put on so you can both hear each other better, and you’re not disturbing those around you. Or, you can find a quiet corner and talk on the phone normally (with it up to your ear), to make sure you can fully focus on the conversation. Stopping in the Middle of Walkways This happens EVERY DAY we’re in the park, and no, it’s not an exaggeration — we can’t tell you how many times we see people, sometimes large groups of people, fully stop in the middle of a walkway and block it for others. This is especially hard if the walkway is already pretty small, but stopping in the middle of anywhere just isn’t ideal. Animal Kingdom Now, I’ll be honest — there was one time that I got distracted by something and momentarily stopped in a walkway. A few seconds later, I went, “WHAT AM I DOING?!” and immediately moved off to the side. Things happen! However, try to keep in mind that there are literally thousands of other people in the parks around you at any given time, all trying to have their best vacation — try to pull over to the side any time you can to allow others to get by you! Reciting The Pre-Shows We know, we know, when you know a ride’s pre-show backwards and forwards, you may find yourself automatically repeating it, and not realizing how it can affect those around you. However, there are tons of people around you who have NEVER experienced the ride before, so hearing you recite the pre-show is really negatively affecting their first ride. They want to hear the original voice actor perform it, not you, no matter how great you might be! Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway Pre-Show Instead, we recommend mouthing along, or if it’s music, humming along quietly, which likely isn’t going to bother anyone around you. If I’m with someone, I love dramatically mouthing the words and making a face at them (as long as I know THEY don’t mind), and then it’s a private joke between the two of us, instead of impacting everyone around us. Saving Show Spots To The EXTREME If you’re trying to save a spot for a parade or fireworks, we know how important it can be, especially during busy times of the year. However, you’re technically not supposed to save spots; it’s first come-first served. Parade Crowds can be intense! Most Disney World guests don’t mind if you’re quickly saving a spot for someone who just went to throw something away before the show, or it’s still 20ish minutes before the show begins, but if you’re saving a spot an HOUR in advance, and the rest of your party is off riding attractions or getting food and doesn’t come back until 5 minutes before the show, OR you’re saving spots for 4, 5, 6+ people? Yeah, that’s not a great idea, and people around you WILL likely let you know. You also run the risk of someone informing a Cast Member, where you’ll be told that you’re not allowed to save spots. Judging Other People For How They Do Their Trip Finally, something that we really can’t stand, whether you’re in the parks OR outside of them, is seeing other people judge others for how THEY choose to do their Disney World trips. The truth is that EVERY single Disney World trip is different, and even if you tried to, you’d never be able to perfectly recreate someone else’s trip. Cinderella Castle Not to mention that every person and every group heading to the parks is different too, and what works for one person/group isn’t going to work with others. That’s the beauty of everyone being different! So if you think someone is “wasting” their Disney World trip by spending a day at the hotel, that’s not your job to tell them. That may be what they need to recharge, and they may look at your four FULL park days with no breaks and think, “they’re going to wear themselves out and be exhausted (and potentially even under the weather) by the end of their trip.” It’s also not their job to tell YOU that. It’s great to have conversations and share what we all love to do on our vacations, but we can’t be mad or judgmental when someone chooses to go a different direction. 9. Every year, Disneyland closes “it’s a small world” for a limited time to retheme it for the holidays, and then closes it again after the season to return it to its regular version. “it’s a small world” The attraction closed to remove its holiday overlay on January 26th, but it was up in the air on when the attraction would open again. Fortunately, now we have our answer, because hours are showing beginning February 6th on the Disneyland website and app! Currently, there are no hours showing between today and February 5th, but the attraction shows hours from 8 AM to 12 AM on Friday, February 6th. ©Disney This means the attraction will go back to its former version, which is the regular theming, minus all the holiday decorations. 10. 2026 is a year of change at Walt Disney World, with massive construction projects at the Magic Kingdom, Hollywood Studios, and Animal Kingdom. While EPCOT doesn’t have a massive construction project of its own right now, that doesn’t mean things aren’t changing at Walt Disney World’s second gate. Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure In particular, some big things are going down in the World Showcase, with the area’s two major attractions seeing game-changing updates that are going to alter crowd patterns. No More 3D Glasses on Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure So, this change actually happened at the tail end of 2025, but will likely be new to many guests in 2026. In November, Disney closed the ride for a brief refurbishment where the 3D elements were removed. The ride is now a completely 2D experience, so you no longer need the glasses. This development was welcomed by many fans, as the ride’s 3D visuals and clunky glasses were some of the biggest complaints about the attraction. However, it also means that guests who were avoiding the ride because of issues with the 3D. Hey, Remy! Many Guests Will Be Riding Frozen Ever After for the “First Time in Forever” In January of 2026, Disney closed the popular Frozen attraction to install new animatronics of Elsa, Anna, and Kristoff. These new figures will replace the ones that have been present since the attraction opened, which used projection instead of traditional sculpting for the figures’ faces. While some liked this look, seeing it as true to the original animation, others felt the approach was very uncanny valley, giving them a “creepy” bulb-headed look. So, what new “rules” will these changes bring? Well, it’s about crowds. Frozen Ever After Frozen Ever After is already one of EPCOT’s busiest rides, with waits often at around an hour. Those waits will likely continue to rise throughout the year as riders who’ve been skipping over the somewhat stagnant attraction and its out-of-date animatronics will want to see the upgraded versions of the characters. Hong Kong Disneyland Animatronics After Hours Events Guests who want to see these upgrades will have the opportunity to do so during After Hours events at the park throughout the rest of the year. These events will see the park open three extra hours (until 12:30 AM, though guests with party tickets can begin entering the park at 7:00 PM) and offer snacks as well as access to some of the park’s most in-demand attractions, including Frozen Ever After and Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure. Check In EPCOT’s remaining scheduled After Hours events for 2026 include February 19th, March 5th and 12th, April 2nd, 9th, 15th, 23rd and 30th, May 21st, June 11th and 18th, July 9th and 23rd, August 6th and 13th, and September 16th and 24th. *BONUS* Okay, so this final note isn’t happening in World Showcase, but it does involve the WORLD… in a manner of speaking. In celebration of America’s 250th birthday this coming July, EPCOT’s Soarin’ will recieve an “all-new airborne adventure across the US, honoring the heart and spirit of the nation.” Disney even brought in “aviation” legend Patrick Warburton (IYKYK) to announce the overlay. ©Disney So major changes — and in turn some major “rules” — are coming to EPCOT’s World Showcase in 2026. 11. Another small scheduling update has popped up for Epic Universe visitors! Isle of Berk Universal’s latest attraction schedule update shows that a popular new ride will remain closed longer than originally announced. The extended downtime now spans several additional days, making this an important note for anyone planning their Universal park days this week. If you were planning a visit to Universal’s Epic Universe this week with Fyre Drill high on your must-do list, there’s been a small change you’ll want to know about. According to the latest park hours and attraction status information, the popular How to Train Your Dragon-themed water ride will now remain closed through February 13th instead of its previously scheduled reopening on February 8th. That means you can expect Fyre Drill to return to operation on February 14th, however, that’s always subject to change. Fyre Drill Fyre Drill first closed on February 1st for what was initially announced as a brief refurbishment, likely part of routine maintenance or early-season adjustments for Epic Universe’s first winter season. Water attractions like this often get scheduled downtime during cooler months when demand is lower and mechanical systems benefit the most from detailed checks. ©Disney Although a one-week extension might not sound like a big deal on the surface, it’s worth noting for anyone with trip plans between February 7th and February 13th. Fyre Drill is one of Epic Universe’s more interactive, family-friendly attractions, perfect for visitors of all ages who want a break from thrill rides and a fun way to cool off when the Florida sun is out. Although, with the latest cold weather bout that Orlando has recently experienced, we wouldn’t blame you if it wasn’t ranking super high on your list at the moment. But if you were determined to try it out or ride EVERYTHING Epic Universe has to offer, you’ll want to build your day around the many other immersive experiences the park has to offer. Fyre Drill Universal hasn’t shared specific details on why the closure window has been lengthened, but if you’ve timed your visit during this period, you should plan your itinerary accordingly. Whether you’re focused on character encounters, coasters, or exploring the detailed worlds of Epic Universe, there’s still plenty to do while Fyre Drill gets ready to reopen! 16. Universal Orlando’s new ad campaign has a prime position during the Super Bowl broadcast Sunday. The series, dubbed “This Changes Everything,” includes a 60-second spot titled “Lil’ Bro” that airs just before halftime of the big game, Universal says. Epic Universe, the resort’s theme park that opened in May, has prominence in the campaign, but its tone includes all Universal Orlando Resort parks and is built on experiences made there. “It really is about the sum of the parts,” said Alice Norsworthy, president of global marketing for Universal Destinations & Experiences. “We spent most of last year, really, introducing Epic Universe, because there was such a story there to tell,” she said. Last year’s Super Bowl ad for Universal featured the park’s portals to its themed lands, including Super Nintendo World and Dark Universe. This year, “Lil’ Bro” revolves around the competitive dynamic between two young siblings. Viewers see them in their home setting, then experiencing Universal attractions such as Volcano Bay water park and Transformers: The Ride – 3D at Universal Studios Florida theme park. The older brother repeatedly teases the younger one, calling him “little man.” It culminates with scenes from Stardust Racers, an Epic Universe roller coaster, and the tagline “Four parks. One vacation that changes everything.” “The transformational experience is something that we just wanted to really highlight and push and capture within 60 seconds of storytelling,” said Danny Brooke-Taylor, founder of Lucky Generals, the agency that partnered with Universal for the five-installment series. Other ads within “This Changes Everything” include a blended family on their first vacation together, a teenager adjusting to her braces and “a group of super fans that includes one friend who just can’t seem to let loose,” Universal says. A fifth ad brings the other four stories together. “Finding the truth and the human truth in those experiences was our start point,” Brooke-Taylor said. “And the four spots in the anthemic spot are all of us just grabbing hold of those and putting them on a pedestal and shining a light at them so that, hopefully, you recognize yourself or recognize just life and just honesty and authenticity in it.” The spots roll out over the next few months on multiple platforms, Norsworthy said. Filming was done within the theme parks, taking over one attraction at a time. “I guess it would have been a lot easier to build everything on CGI and do it all green screen. And we didn’t,” Brooke-Taylor said. “There again, that authenticity is just really tangible. It made it trickier, but I think it was so critical.” Universal did not reveal the price tag for Super Bowl commercials, typically among the priciest of the year due to the enormous TV ratings the game traditionally earns. This year’s game, pitting the Seattle Seahawks against the New England Patriots at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, California, will be broadcast on NBC and the Peacock streaming service, Universal’s Comcast corporate siblings. NBC and Peacock also are the providers for the upcoming Winter Olympics in Milan, Italy. Other reported Super Bowl advertisers this year include first-timer Grubhub (with George Clooney); Sofia Vergara for Skechers; Sabrina Carpenter pushing Pringles; Instacart, featuring Benson Boone and Ben Stiller; Bowen Yang for Ritz; Emma Stone appearing for Squarespace; and Rocket Mortgage with Lady Gaga covering Rollins College almnus Mr. Rogers’ “Won’t You Be My Neighbor?” dbevil@orlandosentinel.com View the full article
  17. I go to Disney World for the rides. Yes, yes, I love trying new snacks that become new favorites and watching Disney’s nighttime spectaculars, which usually end with me in tears (I swear Happily Ever After was made to have you cry, okay?), but there’s something about the rides that always keeps me coming back time and time again. Slinky Dog Dash I’ve been on just about every ride at Disney World (okay, admittedly, I haven’t been on Astro Orbiters yet, but I have been at Disneyland, and that should count for something), but there are some I avoid at all costs — including the beloved Slinky Dog Dash. If you’ve ever been to Toy Story Land at Hollywood Studios, you’ve probably noticed how there is barely an ounce of shade and that it’s the hottest place on the planet. Maybe not the hottest on the planet, but I swear it feels 10 degrees hotter in Toy Story Land than it does in other places around the park. Of course, Slinky Dog Dash is in this super hot area. Have you seen the queue? That thing is HOT! While there is some shade coverage, the air feels still, and when you’re standing in place for a bit, trust me, you’ll feel the heat, especially since Disney World has about 10 hot months a year. Because of this, I’ll just skip Slinky Dog Dash! I’m miserable just looking at this queue Don’t get me wrong, I love the attraction. For a kids roller coaster, I think it’s shockingly great with super smooth corners and bumps. If I’m in the parks at night, which admittedly does not happen very much as a local, and the line is short, I might hop in line for Slinky Dog. I think the ride is even better at night! Remember how hot that queue was? Yeah, when you’re actually riding it, you’re getting more of a breeze from the speed, but it’s just as hot and sunny. At night, you can see all the lights around Toy Story Land and Hollywood Studios, and it’s beautiful. Being personally victimized by the sun Queues can really make it or break it for me at Disney World. I can love the ride to the moon and back, but if the queue (where you spend the majority of your time for the attraction anyway) isn’t ideal, I’m likely skipping it. And the line is always long, too Other rides I can throw on this list include Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure, where, even though it’s very air-conditioned and indoors, the dark tunnel-like switchbacks truly make me feel like I’m a rat in the sewers of Paris, which is not my ideal Disney World vacation. The space can feel cramped, and you only see a small portion of the queue at a time, so you can’t tell how close you are to the end. Love how immersive the theming is, don’t love the feeling of not knowing where I am. Please! I do not want to feel like a rat A special shoutout also goes out to Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind. Oof! Despite the ride opening in 2022, I’ve only been on the ride four times, even though I love it and want to try to get all six songs. The queue can be loud, dark, and it’s a very difficult queue to leave if you decide you don’t want to spend over an hour of your EPCOT day in line. It also has pretty steep hills and curves, and as a wheelchair user, it’s a bit intense. The Space Mountain queue also has massive hills at the beginning and end, and somedays I just don’t want to deal with the incline. Swirls of queues If queues aren’t your jam, how can you still experience the attraction? Lightning Lanes are one way to go, but keep in mind that you’ll still experience the same issues with the queues, just for a shorter amount of time. You can also plan some night rides when it’s not as hot, bring water, hats, sunscreen, and snacks, and try to get in line when the lines are shortest. Sometimes rope dropping or waiting until the end of the night can help with shorter waits, but the My Disney Experience app also has the most up-to-date information on current wait times. Kilimanjaro Safaris Lightning Lane Now it’s your turn: be honest, what rides do you not go on because you don’t like the queues? 18. The Walt Disney Company just announced Josh D’Amaro as the new Chief Executive Officer. We’ve been waiting and waiting for this news to be announced since the current CEO, Bob Iger, announced that he would be leaving by the end of 2026. Josh D’Amaro at Destination D23, 2023 ©Disney While D’Amaro becoming the next CEO is no surprise since he has been a big name in the company for a while now, and has been the Disney Experiences Chairman since 2020, we were a bit surprised to see his start date be March 18th, 2026. The CEO announcement was expected at the beginning of 2026, but since Iger’s contract was still set to end in 2026, it threw us off to see that D’Amaro was starting his position so soon. While we don’t know the reason, if we had to guess, this is such a big year for the company with so many projects happening, it’s likely easier to start soon versus waiting. Kermit, Miss Piggy, and Josh D’Amaro at the 2023 Destination D23 fan convention. Dana Walden, current Co-Chairman of Disney Entertainment, will also be becoming President and Chief Creative Officer of the Walt Disney Company and will also be transitioning to this position on March 18th. ©Disney According to the Wall Street Journal, Iger has also spoken about being ready to move on from the company, especially after spending so many years with it. While his contract was to the end of 2026, he mentioned planning on leaving earlier than that. This also gave the company plenty of time to find a successor and get them up and running. James Gorman, Disney Chairman, told CNBC that even though Iger felt like he could remain CEO till the end of the year, “he had developed the talent” to replace himself and felt that retiring “sooner was better.” ©Disney In terms of Disney Parks, something D’Amaro has been overseeing, there are new lands and rides being built, like Pueblo Esperanza opening in Animal Kingdom in 2027… The Tropical Americas Model in Walt Disney Presents …Walt Disney Studios opening this summer in Hollywood Studios… ©Disney …and ride reopenings like Big Thunder Mountain Railroad and Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin. Other new lands like Monstropolis, Villains Land, and Piston Peak will also be coming in the future. ©Disney Their newest cruise ship, the Disney Adventure, is also sailing starting in March out of Singapore, with other new Disney Cruise Line ships in the future. ©Disney Disney movies are also getting their time to shine this year! A new Pixar movie, Hoppers, is coming out in March, The Mandalorian and Grogu are premiering in May, Toy Story 5 is debuting in June, and the live-action Moana will be coming out in July. Of course, Avengers: Doomsday will be coming in December, too. ©Disney There’s so much happening within the company that D’Amaro seems eager to jump in and get to work. We’ll be interested to see how D’Amaro transitions to this new role as Iger steps down. Make sure you keep following DFB for more Disney news! 22. Disney has just shared a BIG update about its next CEO. The Walt Disney Company Following the company’s earnings call held on February 2nd, 2026, Disney announced that Josh D’Amaro will be the next CEO. The Walt Disney Company Board of Directors announced that Disney Experiences Chairman Josh D’Amaro was elected next Chief Executive Officer of Disney in a unanimous vote. Josh D’Amaro at Destination D23, 2023 ©Disney D’Amaro will take over the role earlier than planned, on March 18th, 2026, when The Walt Disney Company holds its Annual Shareholders Meeting. The Board also intends to appoint D’Amaro as a director immediately following the meeting. “Josh D’Amaro possesses that rare combination of inspiring leadership and innovation, a keen eye for strategic growth opportunities, and a deep passion for the Disney brand and its people – all of which make him the right person to take the helm as Disney’s next CEO,” said James Gorman, Chairman of The Walt Disney Company Board of Directors. Bob Iger and Josh D’Amaro address media at Walt Disney Imagineering event D’Amaro is a 28-year Disney veteran and the “architect of the largest global expansion in Disney Experiences history.” “Josh D’Amaro is an exceptional leader and the right person to become our next CEO,” said Bob Iger, CEO of The Walt Disney Company. “He has an instinctive appreciation of the Disney brand, and a deep understanding of what resonates with our audiences, paired with the rigor and attention to detail required to deliver some of our most ambitious projects. His ability to combine creativity with operational excellence is exemplary and I am thrilled for Josh and the company.” Josh D’Amaro at SXSW 2023 “I am immensely grateful to the Board for entrusting me with leading a company that means so much to me and millions around the world,” said Josh D’Amaro, incoming CEO of The Walt Disney Company. “Disney’s strength has always come from our people and the creative excellence that defines our stories and experiences. There is no limit to what Disney can achieve, and I am excited to work with our teams across the company and brilliant creative partners to honor Disney’s remarkable legacy while continuing to innovate, grow, and deliver exceptional value for our consumers and shareholders. I also want to express my gratitude to Bob Iger for his generous mentorship, his friendship, and the profound impact of his leadership.” Kermit, Miss Piggy, and Josh D’Amaro at the 2023 Destination D23 fan convention. In addition, Dana Walden, Co-Chairman of Disney Entertainment, has been named President and Chief Creative Officer of The Walt Disney Company, also effective March 18th. Walden will report directly to D’Amaro. “Dana Walden is an excellent leader who commands tremendous respect from the creative community,” continued Iger. “Given that creativity is at the heart of everything Disney does, she is a wonderful choice to serve in this new leadership role. In the years since Dana joined Disney, she has accumulated great knowledge about the many facets of our businesses and brands, and is very well prepared to be President and Chief Creative Officer.” Dana Walden ©Disney Bob Iger will be stepping down before the end of his contract, which was set to expire at the end of 2026. served as CEO and Chairman from 2005 to 2020, continued on as Executive Chairman of the Board through 2021, and then returned to the CEO position in late 2022. ©Disney Initially, his contract was meant to last through 2024, but it was later extended so he could stay on as CEO through the end of 2026. That will no longer be the case, with D’Amaro taking over in March. CEO Bob Iger ©Disney Succession was made a major issue upon Iger’s return. Disney’s Board provided a clear directive for Iger to work with them to find the right successor. A succession planning committee was created to find Iger’s replacement, and over the past few years, we’ve seen a variety of names listed as potential successors. It seems the Board has been very focused on finding the “right” replacement this time, given the challenges they reportedly faced with finding a successor for Iger during his previous term and ultimately Iger’s reported “regret” over picking Bob Chapek to succeed him. ©Disney We’ll continue to watch this situation closely as the Disney Company (and Iger, as CEO) is in the middle of a LARGE number of projects now, from new cruise ships to new movies, theme park expansions, and more. That, combined with a CEO shift, could make the next few years and the next Disney CEO’s job all the more challenging and interesting. Stay tuned for the latest updates! 23. The Walt Disney Company’s next CEO search is still underway. Current CEO Bob Iger’s time is winding down, and now inside sources are sharing exactly who is expected to take the helm. Josh D’Amaro at Destination D23, 2023 ©Disney If you’ve been following along with the search for the next leader of the company, like we have, you’ve likely heard whispers about different names at the forefront of the search. As the search draws to a close, sources are saying it’s clear that Josh D’Amaro is likely to be named the next CEO. According to the New York Times, inside sources are saying the Walt Disney Company is likely to name the next Chief Executive Officer later this week, and that name is likely Josh D’Amaro. The company’s board is expected to meet this week before announcing Bob Iger’s replacement. ©Disney It has long been rumored that D’Amaro, the Chairperson of Walt Disney Parks and Resorts, would take the top spot, but Dana Walden, Co-Chairman of Disney Entertainment, has also been mentioned. Bloomberg has also reported that D’Amaro is close to getting the job, leaving us with little doubt. It’s Josh D’Amaro in Magic Kingdom A Disney representative did comment, saying, “The board has not yet selected the next CEO of the Walt Disney Co., and once that decision is made, we will announce it.” During Disney’s most recent earnings call on February 2nd, 2026, CEO Bob Iger said that the company is on a path to growth and that he can’t speak for his successor, but he believes it’s that it’s important that any organization created is done so with creation and accountability in mind. ©Disney According to CNBC, the company’s experiences division exceeded $10 billion in quarterly revenue for the first time. While many believe D’Amaro is the choice for CEO, CNBN confirmed the decision lies with the Disney board and won’t be final until directors vote, which lines up with the representative’s comment. Bob Iger and Josh D’Amaro address media at Walt Disney Imagineering event In regard to his successor, Bob Iger said, “They’ll be handed, I think, a good hand in terms of the strength of the company, a number of opportunities to grow and also the expectation that in a world that changes, you also have to continue to change and evolve as well.” We’ve been watching the CEO search news since Bob Iger returned to the role in 2022, so be sure to keep following DFB for more CEO news and updates. 24. Disney World’s Hotel Cast Members are renowned for their excellent customer service and helpful disposition. However, just under the surface, there are some things they’re often biting their tongues to stop from saying. ©Disney From dining to luggage to check-in and check-out issues, Disney Hotel Cast Members are often dealing with situations that they have no control over, though some guests simply ignore that. These are some of the thoughts running through their heads. “A Hotel Stay Doesn’t Equal Dining Reservations” While many guests may think that staying at a certain Disney hotel may give them priority access to that hotel’s restaurants and dining offerings, that’s simply not the case. A guest staying at, say, the Polynesian still has to book ‘Ohana reservations the same way as anyone else. However, that doesn’t stop sometimes irate guests from taking it out on Cast Members if they’re unable to get the dining of their choosing. Grilled chicken “Only Bell Service has Luggage Information” While Disney Hotel Cast Members often have a wealth of information, one thing even front desk workers don’t have access to is luggage information, all of which is handled by the hotel’s Bell Services. Bell Services at Disney’s Polynesian Resort “Magical Moments are Not Guaranteed, Especially if You Ask. “ Many Disney fans are familiar with the concept of “Magical Moments” — usually small gestures from Cast Members that make a Disney fan’s day more — well — magical. When it comes to hotels, this could be something small, like giving you an extra treat with your Mobile Order or even sending a gift to your room. Cast Members love to celebrate YOU! While it is fun for Cast Members to create magic like this, asking for a Magical Moment takes away the fun. Additionally, a Cast Member must run a Magical Moment by leadership first, so it is not always up to the actual Cast Member to decide whether they can purchase something or not. “Eat Before You Leave the Park.” Most dining locations at Disney World hotels, such as the quick service areas, pool bars, and restaurants, close before most late-night guests have gotten back from their park of choice. While this is overall an issue Disney should probably adjust, it’s also a scheduling decision far above the heads of the Cast Members working at the hotel. Everything POP! “No, Your Room’s Not Ready Yet.” Don’t expect a room to be ready before 3:00 PM (or 4:00 PM for DVC villas). Guests often show up early, usually from Orlando International Airport (MCO), and sometimes get mad when rooms aren’t ready. While it’s understandable, it’s not fair to take it out on Cast Members, especially since the 3:00 PM time is made clear during the check-in process. Your room may not be ready when you arrive “You Need to Check Out On Time.” Moving from arrival to departure, Disney’s checkout policy is pretty strict, with guests expected to be out of their rooms and automatically checked out by 11:00 AM. Late check-out requests are at the full discretion of the housekeeping team and are usually reviewed the day of, once they have an idea of staffing for the day, but typically nothing later than 12:30 PM is approved. ©Disney “I Need to See the Person Who Made the Reservation.” Only the guests listed on the reservation can check in for a given reservation or get keycards for the associated room. This applies even if someone staying in a different room is paying for it all. In fact, Disney’s system doesn’t tell Cast Members the names on the credit card that paid for the room. Coronado Springs Resort Room Next time you’re staying at a Disney World hotel, be sure to keep these things in mind… because the Cast Member you’re speaking to almost assuredly does. For dessert, the lounge will serve up the likes of the Cheshire Cat Raspberry Macaron, the Chocolate Brownie Branch, and the Vanilla White Rabbit Cupcake! ©Disney Alright, so let’s talk costs. After years of being closed and prices going up at Disney World, it’s no surprise that this tea experience will also go up in price when it opens. The new costs are $79 per adult and $49 per child for afternoon tea service. Comparatively, however, this is still more affordable than similar experiences like afternoon tea at The Cake Bake Shop by Gwendolyn Rogers at Disney’s BoardWalk — which costs $95 per adult and $65 per child. ©Disney Reservations open on February 19th, 2026. This moment has been a long time coming.
