  3. We’re suckers for hidden details anywhere, but ESPECIALLY inside the Disney parks. Especially since we get to be in the Disney Parks nearly every day, we’re always looking for details we haven’t spotted, new experiences for you to check out, and everything in between. Sleeping Beauty Castle We love Disneyland Resort for so many reasons, but the official Disneyland Magic Key Instagram account (@disneylandmagickey) just posted a TON of hidden Easter eggs across Disneyland and Disney California Adventure. We’re betting a lot of you haven’t noticed (because some of them we haven’t spotted before)! Buzz Lightyear in The Cozy Cone Motel We love it when Pixar stories combine, and that’s exactly what’s happening here! ©Disney If you’re checking out the Cozy Cone Motel in Disney California Adventure, look closely to find Buzz Lightyear hiding beneath one of the cones. Remember that from Toy Story 2, when the toys cross the street under the cones? We love the connection! Your Favorite Toy Story Characters Are Coming to a Popular Magic Kingdom Restaurant For the Villain Fans If you’re in Fantasyland and want to get a peek at an iconic Disney villain, you’ll want to head over to Snow White’s Enchanted Wish (but not go INSIDE!). ©Disney Look up at the very top of the attraction, at the gorgeous stained glass window, and you’ll be able to see the Evil Queen herself! She genuinely looks pretty scary, so beware. The Disney Golden Era T-shirts Every Disney Adult Is Buying from Target Back to The Days of Building When you’re building something as massive as Disneyland, you need a few spots to check out what’s going to work best for the site. You can get a look at this history over in a corner of Main Street, U.S.A.! ©Disney If you look closely at this wall, where a water fountain is, you’ll find many different pattern variations of bricks. This was the test wall to see what would look best in the rest of the park! See How Disneyland’s Creation Defied The Odds in New Documentary The Little Man of Disneyland Now, this is one we did know, but that doesn’t mean we love it any less! If you’ve ever wanted to find the Little Man of Disneyland, you’ll want to head over to Indiana Jones Adventure. ©Disney You’ll want to look closely at one of the large trees near the attraction, and that’s where you’ll find a whole little house built into the base — this is the home of The Little Man of Disneyland! DFB Video: 50 New Disneyland Tips for 2026 There’s An ELEPHANT That Was Bound For Paris? Yes, Yes There Is! Did you know there’s an elephant tucked away in Adventureland, above the Tropical Imports Snack Shop? It’s true! If you’ve noticed her, though, you may not know her history. ©Disney She’s GORGEOUS, made out of jade, and her name is Penny! She’s named after the Penny Arcade, but she originally wasn’t meant for any of the United States parks — she was actually originally supposed to be put in Disneyland Paris. However, she was placed in the Penny Arcade in Disneyland in 1993, then moved to the Gibson Girl Ice Cream Parlor years later. That wasn’t it, though — in 2012, while the ice cream parlor was being refurbished, she disappeared. An elephant crypt was even made for her in the Haunted Mansion in 2016, but then by 2017, she arrived at her current home, the Tropical Imports Snack Shop. Inside Disney’s Haunted Mansion: Everything You Don’t See When the Lights Are Out A Former Ticket Booth Ticket booths are now only located outside the parks, but when Disneyland opened, there were ticket booths inside the park where people could purchase tickets for the individual attractions. Did you know that at least ONE of them is still in Disneyland? ©Disney The lighthouse outside of Storybook Land Canal Boats is actually a former ticket booth! It’s been repurposed into being a decoration for the ride, as they didn’t want to get rid of it completely, but yes, some people have memories of heading to this exact ticket booth in the early days of the park. Avoid My Disneyland Horror Story and DON’T Do This The Weathervanes Tell A Story! Over in Fantasyland, you’ll want to look UP and check out the weathervanes at the top of each ride. ©Disney As it turns out, each of these weathervanes is themed to the rides they sit on top of! The one on top of Peter Pan’s Flight has a pirate ship, the top of Mr. Toad’s Wild Ride is, indeed, Mr. Toad in the car, and there’s a whale on top of Pinocchio’s Daring Journey. So much detail! 5. I cannot tell you how many times I’ve been at Disney World and suddenly it starts pouring down rain. I’m stuck with wet clothes, shoes, and hair, so after a few times, I learned the importance of being prepared with rain gear. Rainy day in Disney World If you’ve ever visited Disney World during the rainy season, or basically any time in Florida, you know that sudden downpours are basically part of the experience. One minute it’s sunny and perfect, and the next, you’re scrambling for cover while water soaks everything in sight. That’s why having rain gear on hand is essential for keeping your vacation on track and your spirits high. DISCLOSURE: This post may contain affiliate links, meaning when you click the links and make a purchase, we receive a commission. It might be tempting to grab one of those Disney ponchos the moment the rain starts, but here’s the thing: they aren’t ideal. Disney World Ponchos average about $12 each for adults, and seriously, I could get two Disney snacks for that price, and the worst part is, they aren’t super sturdy! Ponchos at Disney World Also, they tear easily, especially when you’re hustling through crowded walkways or slipping them over backpacks. And once the rain stops? There’s not really a good way to store or reuse them, meaning you end up tossing them and paying again if it rains the next day. Over the course of a multi-day trip, those costs add up fast. So what’s the alternative? Rain gear at EPCOT That’s where Frogg Toggs ponchos come in. Unlike the disposable park ponchos, these are lightweight, breathable, and perfect for Florida’s unpredictable weather. They fold up neatly into a small carrying bag, so you can toss them in your backpack and be ready for the next storm without slowing down your day. When rain hits, you don’t have to stop your vacation to hunt for ponchos, spend a ton of money, and then throw them away at the end of the day, only to do it again tomorrow. Frogg Toggs Poncho These ponchos are genuinely waterproof, and water practically falls right off them every time we use them. They come in a variety of colors and include their own carrying bag, keeping everything else in your bag dry. Best of all, they’re reusable, durable, and make rainy days at the parks a breeze. View on Amazon Frogg Toggs Poncho Plus, Frogg Toggs aren’t just for Disney! Heading to another vacation, taking a theme park trip elsewhere, or just dealing with unpredictable weather at home? Pack one in your suitcase, and you’re covered. They’re affordable, reliable, and built to last multiple trips, which makes them a smart investment for any traveler. View on Amazon Frogg Togg Poncho When it comes to staying dry at Disney World, skipping the park ponchos and opting for a Frogg Toggs poncho is the way to go. They’re comfortable, durable, and reusable, saving you time, money, and stress during sudden storms. For more tips on Disney travel, gear, and food, follow Disney Food Blog. 7. If you’re thinking of cheating on your normally preferred style of vacationing in favor of cruising…you’re not alone. Disney Wish docked at Castaway Cay Cruising is so hot right now — and no, it’s not just because ships are getting bigger, flashier, or filled with more novelties that would make Las Vegas blush. The real reason cruising feels so appealing right now is actually much simpler. Cruises scratch that very specific itch right between an international all-inclusive resort stay and a traditional land vacation. When you book a cruise, you’re essentially locking in a price that covers A TON of your vacation basics upfront. Disney Magic Cruise Ship Everything from transportation between destinations, to your lodging, to your food, to even your entertainment is ALL COVERED AHEAD OF TIME. However, unlike some all-inclusive resorts that feel like you’re paying for everything whether you want it or not, cruises give you flexibility. ©Disney Want to stick to included dining and drinks and keep your budget steady? Cruises let you do that. Want to splurge on a specialty restaurant, beverage package, or a once-in-a-lifetime shore excursion? Hey, you can do that as well! The point is that nothing’s mandatory. You’re taken care of on all fronts, all while you get to CHOOSE which benefits and experiences you’d like to tack on. Palo Steakhouse Logistically, cruises can make more sense than a traditional vacation. Between rising airfare costs, baggage fees, hotel resort fees, rental cars, rideshares, and other costs you don’t think about like REAL ID requirements, traditional vacations can start nickel-and-diming you fast. While airfare does play a factor in cruising, if you’re within driving distance of a cruise port, a cruise can actually end up being cheaper than flying somewhere and staying in a hotel. Disney Destiny Oceanview with Verandah Stateroom For a lot of folks, cruising actually feels like a vacation. Once you’re onboard, the planning stress basically disappears. You’re not coordinating transportation every day, or constantly checking reservations, or overplanning. Everything is handled for you, and your biggest daily decision can be as simple as whether you hit the pool or take a nap. Disney Cruise Line Compare that experience to something like Disney World. While we love the planning and excitement of a theme park vacation, there’s no denying that it takes WORK. You’re timing Lightning Lanes, securing dining reservations, planning park strategies, and making sure you hit everything on your itinerary. A cruise — on the other hand — prioritizes relaxation. And that’s honestly the sexy part. ©Disney Right now, people aren’t just looking for travel — they’re looking for ease. Predictable costs, fewer decisions, ACTUAL DOWNTIME…yeah, we get the allure. Cruising delivers all of that in one neat package, without sacrificing great food, entertainment, or memorable experiences. How do you feel about cruising compared to traditional vacations? 8. Have you ever wondered what happens when the Disney World Monorail goes down and can’t move on its own? We admit, we’ve certainly had the thought, and since it fortunately doesn’t happen THAT often, it’s not something we see frequently. Monorail Yesterday, though? We were standing right in front of Magic Kingdom when it happened — the Monorail went down, and we got to see firsthand what happens when it needs some help moving. That’s how we learned that it gets its own little tugboat to pull it along! Isn’t this so cool? There’s so much that happens “behind the scenes” in Disney World that we love to see. Now, we know that for people who are on a once-in-a-lifetime vacation, or those who don’t get to travel here often, you want everything to go perfectly. 11. As part of the Orlando Sentinel’s 150th birthday, on the first Sunday of each month, we will report on a topic that helped shape the Central Florida of today and how we covered that topic. This month, we cover tourism and theme parks. Before there were thrill rides, costumed characters, nightly fireworks spectaculars and millions of out-of-towners, Central Florida had a very big draw for tourists: The sun. The warmth and natural beauty of the Sunshine State drew Northerners seeking seasonal escapes and setting the table for Central Florida’s tourism industry to bloom. Decades later, Walt Disney’s strategic, secretive land purchases would ignite the transformation of Orlando into the “theme park capital of the world.” Today, more than 75 million tourists travel to Orlando each year, filling more than 130,000 hotel rooms in the area and spending $60 billion at theme parks and other attractions. The hospitality industry employs more than 290,000 people. Tourists’ extended visits fill Orlando International Airport with arrivals and departures, jam roads with rental cars and fill local coffers with more than $380 million in tourism-tax dollars, some of which are used through Visit Orlando to entice even more people to come to Central Florida. While the future could hold even more theme parks in Central Florida, a new business industry with reach far beyond Orlando has already been spawned. For now, just as it was in the early days of area tourism, there’s a sunny outlook. A steamboat approaches the dock at Silver Springs in June 1886. The privately-run tourist attraction, known for its glass-bottom boats, was transformed into Silver Springs State Park in 2013. (Orlando Sentinel file) Early attraction In February 1884, not even a decade after Orlando was founded, a real-estate advertisement in the Orange County Reporter, a predecessor of the Orlando Sentinel, touted Sanford property as “lands to suit everybody – the invalid, tourist, fruit grower or farmer.” A month later, the newspaper reported thousands of “northern people” in Orange County. Mostly, they were “tourists seeking to escape the rigors of a northern winter,” the paper said. Visitors were fairly affluent folks who would travel by steamship out of New York, stop at Charleston, South Carolina, or Savannah, Georgia, then disembark in Jacksonville, said Rick Kilby, an Orlando-based writer and graphic designer. “The big thing was to go to Silver Springs up the Ocklawaha River,” Kilby said. “As Central Florida started to develop, you could disembark in Sanford, and then it was a treacherous trip to get to Orlando from Sanford,” he said. “One of the things that kept Orlando from developing initially was because it was so hard to get here.” In 1884, the Ocklawaha boats were so crowded that some tourists skipped that excursion, the newspaper said. “No such season was ever before known in the state,” it read. The Orlando Morning Sentinel featured stories about the Central Florida Spring Festival, a multi-night, flower-themed pageant at Tinker Field, which began in 1935. (Orlando Sentinel file) By 1935, Orlando had learned to entertain the snowbirds and created the Central Florida Spring Festival, a multi-night, flower-themed pageant at Tinker Field designed to “hold thousands of winter visitors until late in April,” the newspaper said. The event featured two stage shows, one in a 12th-century England setting that was “accurate in all details, including a thrilling tilting tournament on horseback,” according to the Orlando Morning Sentinel, which published a 12-page festival preview. A second show revolved around the character of Lady Orlanda, Lady of the Azaleas, who welcomed nine “flower princesses” from neighboring communities, who performed musical segments with 100-person casts. Sanford did “Shamrock of Ireland,” DeLand presented “Lotus of Egypt” and Cocoa had a “Rose of Persia” scene. Orlando Mayor V.W. Estes asked businesses to close at 4:45 p.m. so everyone could attend. General admission tickets were 50 cents. The Sentinel said it set an Orlando entertainment record — “the largest audience ever gathered at Tinker Field, overflowing every seat in the grandstand and bleachers.” A photographer for Florida’s Department of Commerce captured this view of Orlando’s Wigwam Village Motel in 1956. It was demolished in 1973. (Florida state archives) As transportation systems expanded on rails and roadways, more visitors made their way south. Roadside attractions became a Florida mainstay, Kilby said. Owners would sell citrus or show off wildlife, he said. “The larger ones tended to be near places of great beauty, like Silver Springs or Cypress Gardens on the lake, and those are the ones that endured,” Kilby said. “But there were a lot of little mom-and-pop ones that sprang up.” Travelers started pulling overnight trailers, but motels such as Wigwam Village — 27 teepee-shaped rooms on Orange Blossom Trail — were common. Destination postcards touted hotels, lakes, citrus trees and the streets of Orlando, doubling as advertisements to folks back home. Enduring attractions of this era include Weeki Wachee Springs, Bok Tower Gardens and Busch Gardens in Tampa. In 1949, Owen Godwin opened the Florida Wildlife Institute, soon renamed Snake Village and Alligator Farm and then, in 1956, became known as Gatorland. Godwin told the Orlando Sentinel-Star in 1952 that the Orange Blossom Trail attraction had free admission “so visitors can see a good slice of Florida without having to pay.” From left, Orlando Sentinel front page asks "Is Our 'Mystery' Industry Disneyland?" for the first time on Oct. 21, 1965, referring to reporter Emily Bavar as "Girl Reporter Convinced By Walt Disney." Filmmaker Walt Disney famously flew over Central Florida land in 1963 to scout properties, possible stealth acquisitions for his Florida Project, eventually being known as Walt Disney World. The Orlando Sentinel covered the public buzz surrounding the mysterious purchases of rural land southwest of the city. Among the speculated-upon buyers were Boeing, Ford Motor Co. and billionaire Howard Hughes. Front-page headlines in the Oct. 21, 1965, edition of the Sentinel were “Is Our ‘Mystery’ Industry Disneyland?” and “Girl Reporter Convinced By Walt Disney.” Emily Bavar, editor of the newspaper’s Florida Magazine, had face-to-face denials from Disney, but also stacks of clues from him that suggested otherwise. Four days later, Florida Gov. Haydon Burns confirmed Bavar’s prediction. So the Oct. 26, Sentinel headline was “It’s Official: This Is Disney’s Land!” At the same time, Walt Disney Productions said there were details to iron out and that other locations were being considered … but there would be an announcement in Orlando on Nov. 15. At 2 p.m., he held a news conference alongside Burns and his brother Roy Disney at the Cherry Plaza Hotel in downtown Orlando. The event was thin on details, but the announced investment was $100 million. Less than six years later, Magic Kingdom theme park opened to the public. Within 50 years, the Lake Buena Vista resort contained four theme parks, two water parks, a shopping district and 30,000 hotel rooms. Disney World now employs about 80,000 workers. “It’s all happened slowly … but it’s been a consistent growth overall,” said Jeff Vahle, current president of Walt Disney World. He moved to Florida at age 9. “When I grew up, and I would drive up [U.S.] 27, it was all orange groves … and the Citrus Tower didn’t overlook houses,” he said. Disney World, Orlando and their visitors have matured together, Vahle said. “They’ve grown up with us over those 50 years … and keep coming back,” he said. Many Orlando-area theme parks and attractions didn’t last as long. Gone are varied places such as Circus World, Florida Splendid China, Holy Land Experience, Dolly Parton’s Dixie Stampede dinner show and Terror on Church Street. (Courtesy Bob Snow) Church Street Station, a collection of nightclubs and entertainment venues that were tourist magnets, had a lengthy run after founder Bob Snow was drawn to an abandoned train depot in downtown Orlando. “To me, it’s kind of a full-circle moment, where you go from tourism starting at the train station, going to Bob Snow, going back because the train station was there,” Kilby said. After several ownership shifts, the attraction faded away in the Y2K era. A common theory was that tourists found options at Disney’s Pleasure Island and Universal CityWalk more appealing. (Orlando Sentinel file)Expand The wealth of entertainment offerings affected the business of Gatorland, said Mark McHugh, the company’s president and CEO. The park, born in the roadside attraction phase, also navigated the megapark years when four Disney and Universal parks opened within a 10-year span. “The competition just almost killed us in the ‘90s,” McHugh said. “People prior to that went on vacation, and they had an extra day or two to go to Gatorland. … It almost put a nail in us.” The attraction then re-emphasized natural beauty and down-home Florida hospitality, he said. “I think that’s something that people like when they come here. We kind of courted that old roadside history,” McHugh said. But, big picture, the presence of the big parks helped Gatorland, he said. “Without Disney, we would have been gone a long, long time ago. … There’s no doubt,” McHugh said. (Rich Pope/Orlando Sentinel file)Expand From here? Orlando reigns as the theme park capital of the world, but could big get bigger? Some experts expected Disney World to announce a fifth park in the wake of Universal expansion or even a rapid addition to Epic Universe, which opened last year. Executives won’t officially go there yet. Disney has announced projects, some of which visitors can see under construction at Magic Kingdom, Disney’s Animal Kingdom and Disney’s Hollywood Studios theme parks. They have ties to “Encanto,” “Cars,” “Monsters, Inc.” and Indiana Jones films. Vahle, the WDW president, said the company’s park plans aren’t driven by intellectual property – its characters or movies. “You kind of go look at and say, ‘What’s the park or a property need, and then what’s a great idea to fill that need?’” he said. Coming to Frontierland at Magic Kingdom, a new area themed to Pixar Animation Studios' "Cars" will leave Radiator Springs and head to the wilderness with two new attractions, including an off-road race. (Courtesy Walt Disney Co.) Solid plans exist for Disney World – some already announced, some not – through about 2033, he said. “We always have to stay that far ahead as you think about how long it takes to design something and build something,” Vahle said. “So the things that we’re thinking and talking about now are 2034 through 2040.” Universal also has multiple projects in the pipeline, Irwin said. “They are years in the making, and they’re big investments. … We do have quite a few on the books right now for all of our parks in Orlando,” she said. “I’ve been doing this for almost 36 years now, and I’m incredibly excited about what’s in the plan,” Irwin said. Hidden hub Although eye-catching theme park architecture and flashy rides hold tourist attention, the Orlando market has surged in tourism businesses that provide behind-the-scenes creativity for attractions here and beyond Central Florida, experts say. “There’s a talent pool here, and there’s a lot of available talent, post Epic,” said Adrian Jones, managing director of CONDUCTR, an interactive design agency based in Manchester, England, with an Orlando office. “I think the fact that we’ve got a hub in Orlando is extremely important for us as a business because not only does it make it that we’re in the hub of technology advancements in the best theme parks in the world, but also the talent,” Jones said. Universal Creative workers based in Orlando are involved with Universal’s projects elsewhere, including the year-round haunt in Las Vegas, the kids’ parks in Texas and the proposed theme park in England. Many Walt Disney Imagineering plans for worldwide projects are created by folks based in Central Florida. “Orlando isn’t just a place where people come and play and have fun. It’s an industry, a knowledge hub,” said UCF’s Fyall. “Increasingly, people from around the world, a lot from the Middle East and Japan, they’re coming here to see how it’s done.” Jakob Wahl, chief executive officer of the International Association of Amusement Parks and Attractions, thinks the future of Orlando is beyond Orlando. “Fifty years from now, people won’t just look back at Orlando as the theme park capital of the world,” he said. “We think they’ll point to it as a place where the future of tourism and the future of attractions actually was built.” Challenges and changes Moving forward, the tourism industry faces a shifting list of challenges. Current hot topics include political turmoil, affordability, international travel competition, changes in technology and consumer tastes. “I think price and value proposition are the things globally that we just got to keep an eye on,” Jones said. “Ten years ago, Saudi Arabia and Middle East, they were all about, how do we become the next Orlando?” he added. “They are basically spending vast amounts of money on the biggest, the longest, the fastest, the this, the that, the other.” Jennifer Parnell, Rescue Specialist at SeaWorld Orlando, bottle feeds an orphaned manatee at SeaWorld Orlando at 3 a.m. on Sept. 21, 2017. Look for theme parks to remain king, though. “I think there is a continued need for people to have fun, to be distracted, to enjoy time with each other,” IAAPA’s Wahl said. “The city has the mindset to attract people, to attract visitors here, to make them feel welcome and to make them have a good time.” Email me at dbevil@orlandosentinel.com. 12. Becoming a tourism mecca was years in the making. It started with nature-driven attractions and was jump-started by Walt Disney. Along the way have been alligators, mermaids, Mickey Mouse, Elvis, dinner theaters, Dolly Parton, the Holy Land and assorted entrepreneurs. Here are some industry highlights from the past 150 years. • 1878: Silver Springs (and its glass-bottom boats) becomes the first commercial tourist attraction in Florida. • 1910: Joyland, featuring swimming, waterslides, a dance hall, dock-and-picnic area, opens on Lake Ivanhoe in what would become the College Park neighborhood of Orlando. • 1920s: A network of roads known as Dixie Highway connects Orlando and other Florida towns with northern cities. • 1920: Hand Tourist Camp welcomes snowbirds and other visitors on 20 acres between Central and East South streets in downtown Orlando. • 1923: Central Florida Zoo & Botanical Gardens opens. It moved to its current location in Sanford in July 1975. • April 1923: Orlando’s Tinker Field is dedicated. It played host to minor-league baseball for decades. In 1964, Martin Luther King Jr. gave a speech from the pitcher’s mound. • 1929: Bok Tower (aka The Singing Tower) is completed in Lake Wales. A Cypress Gardens water show is pictured in 1965. Cypress Gardens, Florida's first theme park, opened in 1936 and closed in September 2009 due to declining attendance and financial difficulties. Merlin Entertainments purchased the site in 2010 and opened Legoland Florida Resort on the property in October 2011, restoring and preserving the original historic botanical gardens as a featured attraction. (Courtesy Cypress Gardens) • January 1936: Cypress Gardens springs up in Winter Haven. It starts as a botanical attraction and later develops a reputation for water skiing shows and Southern Belles. • 1945: Midget City, a roadside attraction that features a tiny version of a town, opens in Longwood. 17. This might be one of the more versatile Disney bags Loungefly has released recently. Fantasia convertible Loungefly Loungefly may be known for its mini backpacks, but this convertible bag’s style steps outside that box in a really interesting way. After using it in real-life situations (not just holding it or trying it on), I have some pretty solid thoughts on where it shines, who it’s best for, and what you should know before buying. DISCLOSURE: This post may contain affiliate links, meaning when you click the links and make a purchase, we receive a commission. If you love Disney bags but wish you could get a little more space and versatility than a traditional Loungefly mini backpack, this convertible bag is a really solid option! The design centers around Sorcerer Mickey, and it definitely leans more toward a statement piece than a subtle park bag — but in a way that still feels wearable for everyday use or park outfits. Fantasia convertible Loungefly The first thing you’ll notice is the iridescent blue exterior. It has that color-shifting sheen that stands out without feeling overly flashy. The front panel features a gold embroidered Sorcerer Mickey over a crushed velvet blue backing, which gives it a little extra texture and makes it feel more premium than a standard printed bag. View on Amazon What really surprised me was functionality. It’s noticeably larger than a typical Loungefly mini backpack and has multiple interior… ©Amazon …and exterior pockets, so you can actually carry the things you normally want with you, like a tablet, small electronics, books, or travel essentials, without feeling cramped. I didn’t feel like I needed an insert organizer for this Loungefly either, because the internal pocket layout already does most of that work. With the shoulder strap The convertible design is easily the standout feature. You can wear it as a tote, shoulder bag, or backpack, depending on how you attach the straps. The hardware clips directly into built-in anchors, so switching styles takes seconds. Anchors in place for the included straps The straps are made from that seatbelt-style material you see on some specialty bags, which makes them feel sturdy and comfortable, especially when worn backpack-style for long park days. View on Amazon There are a couple of trade-offs to know going in, though. The iridescent finish can scratch if you’re rough with it, so you’ll want to be careful with lockers or tight storage. And since it’s larger than a mini backpack, you’ll want a plan for ride storage when needed. As a backpack Overall, I’d give this a 4.5 out of 5. You don’t need it for a trip, but if you want a statement Disney bag that’s actually functional, this is a really strong option — and I’d absolutely buy it with my own money! They also have other things like wraps and bowls for lunch, and some treats for dessert. Now, they have this new 7-Layer Bar! Kusafiri Coffee Shop & Bakery The 7-Layer Bar is available for $5.79, and it’s a graham cracker crust with coconut, pecans, sunflower seeds, chocolate chips, and butterscotch chips with a sweetened condensed milk filling that’s topped with Maldon Salt. Seven layers of GOODNESS! 7-Layer Bar! The bar is pretty thick, which goes without saying since it’s seven layers. This treat was fascinating because you could taste each ingredient with every bite. The salty nuts and seeds complement the super-sweet condensed milk filling. This was tasty! We also really enjoyed the texture of the bar! It was chewy, crunchy, soft, and gooey all at once. We have to say that this was one of the most unique desserts we’ve had at Disney World. It reminds us of the Magic Cookie Bars you used to find around Disney World, but a bit nuttier! The texture for this was great! The next time you’re at Animal Kingdom, we definitely recommend that you try this treat! 20. If you’ve ever wondered what people who are in Disney World constantly actually carry with them, hi, it’s me. We love our essentials I’m in the parks all the time, and trust me, I’ve learned a few things the hard way. Disney days are long, hot, unpredictable, and incredibly unforgiving if you show up unprepared. There are a handful of items I will not do a park day without, and they’re all things you should absolutely grab before you arrive. Not only will you save money, but you’ll also save yourself from scrambling around gift shops when you should be riding rides or eating snacks. Frogg Toggs Poncho Frogg Toggs Poncho If you go to Disney World without rain protection, you’re basically tempting fate. Afternoon storms are common, and they show up fast. This poncho is one of our go-to picks because it doesn’t feel like wearing a plastic trash bag. It’s lightweight, breathable, and actually comfortable to move around in. It folds down into a compact pouch that’s easy to toss in a backpack, so you won’t feel like you’re hauling around bulky rain gear all day. Bonus points for the fact that it comes in fun colors, so you don’t look like everyone else stuck in the rain. View on Amazon — 41% Off Now JISULIFE Handheld Mini Fan JISULIFE handheld fan Yes, we talk about this fan a lot. No, we’re not going to stop. Florida heat is no joke, and this little fan works overtime in the parks. It’s rechargeable, powerful, and easy to hold or stash when you’re done using it. The real reason we love it is because it does more than just blow air. It also works as a portable power bank and even has a built-in flashlight. That means one item is pulling triple duty in your bag, and we love efficiency. View on Amazon — Coupon Deal Happening NOW MultiCharger for MagicBand+ MultiCharger for MagicBand+ Charging chaos is real in Disney hotel rooms. There are never enough outlets, especially if you’re traveling with family or friends. Since MagicBand+ needs to be charged, this multi charger makes life so much easier. It lets you charge multiple MagicBands at once, or mix and match with phones. Everything plugs in using USB-A, so you don’t need anything fancy. If you’ve got a group sharing a room, this is one of those items that instantly becomes the MVP of the trip. View on Amazon — Less Than $10 Disney Princess Rapunzel Owala We love our Owala water bottle! Staying hydrated is non-negotiable at Disney World, and having a bottle you actually want to carry matters. This Rapunzel-themed Owala checks all the boxes. It’s cute, functional, and very Disney without being over the top. Owalas are popular for a reason. They’re easy to drink from, don’t leak, and keep water cold for hours. The Rapunzel colors and floating lantern detail just make it feel extra magical, especially if you’re a Tangled fan. View on Amazon FuelRod USB-C Portable Charger Kit FuelRod chargers You’ve definitely seen these around the parks, and for good reason. FuelRods are incredibly convenient, especially if your phone battery drains fast. The kit comes with two chargers and all the cables you’ll need, including USB-C. The best part is the swap system. When one dies, you can exchange it for a fully charged one at a kiosk in the parks. Buying this kit ahead of time usually costs way less than grabbing one once you’re already there. 22. I didn’t expect much from these Disney Minnie ears from Amazon, and I was very wrong. Amazon Minnie ears I picked up a pair of classic Minnie ears from Amazon mostly out of curiosity, just to see how they compared to park ears. After actually wearing them and paying attention to comfort, weight, and overall quality, I ended up way more impressed than I expected to be. DISCLOSURE: This post may contain affiliate links, meaning when you click the links and make a purchase, we receive a commission. I know I’m not the only one who loves wearing ears, but hates how some of them feel after a few hours. I recently tried a pair of Minnie Ears from Amazon that promised a lighter, more comfortable fit, and after wearing them for a while, I have some pretty solid thoughts on whether they’re worth swapping into your Disney park bag. ODOCARE Minnie Ears If you love wearing ears in the parks (or just love a classic Disney accessory), these solid black Minnie ears inspired by Minnie Mouse are honestly a really strong option, especially if comfort matters to you. They keep that iconic Minnie look with the black ears and the red bow with white polka dots, but without the heavier, sometimes stiff feeling you can get from some park ear headbands. View on Amazon The first thing I noticed when I picked these up was the texture. The ears themselves are plush and fuzzy, which makes them feel softer and lighter than I expected. They’re very simple design-wise, so no sequins, no extra embellishments, but that’s honestly part of the appeal. They feel classic. They go with basically any park outfit, Disney-bound, or even just a casual Disney day. And I’ll be honest, the fuzzy texture is weirdly satisfying. I absolutely caught myself absentmindedly touching them like you would a soft blanket or pet fur. Soft ears Where these really shine is weight and comfort. These are noticeably lighter than most park ears, which makes a huge difference if you’re someone who gets pressure headaches from tighter or heavier headbands. If you’ve ever taken ears off halfway through the day because your head just needed a break, these are worth looking at. For the price point, the value here is honestly really strong. View on Amazon There are a couple of small things to know going into buying this pair, though. The only real giveaway that they aren’t official park ears is when you feel the fabric around the base of the headband. It’s a little looser and feels slightly less structured. Park-like quality The headband itself is also a bit thick, and like most headbands, it can be a little annoying to hold onto in windy conditions. I also wish there were a smaller kids’ version, because I think these are great for older kids or preteens who want comfortable ears, but may be too large for small children. View on Amazon Do you need these for a Disney trip? No. Are they a really comfortable, budget-friendly alternative to park ears? Absolutely! Great, affordable ears Overall, these exceeded my expectations in comfort, price, and style. If you want a classic Minnie look without the higher price tag or risk of a headache halfway through the day, these are an easy recommendation.
