Tonight’s After Dark image was snapped at La Cabane Des Robinson at Disneyland Park in Paris. Doesn’t the Robinsons’ home look simply magical lit up at night? Here, guests can explore an intricate series of walkways and stairs that lead through the family’s kitchen, library and bedrooms – all cleverly decorated with shipwreck salvage. A pride full of Lion King-themed treats have popped up around Walt Disney World over the last few months. Lion Paw Cookie We’ve seen a Bugs ‘n Grubs Waffle Cone, a Grub Burger, a Simba Cupcake, an Asante Slush, and so much more. Now, a new Lion Paw Cookie is attempting to be the king of the jungle as it has popped up at just about every ice cream cart around Animal Kingdom. This pre-packaged Selma cookie is actually really good, friends! Ours had been kept in the freezer with the ice cream treats, so it was nice and cold! Lion Paw Cookie The Lion Paw cookie is also super freakin’ cute, so it’s perfect for those of you who are looking to snap some fun AK food pics. Lion Paw Cookie Ingredients The cookie is also really thick and sweet, so you might be able to share this treat with your family. Lion Paw Cookie And since it’s only $3.50 or a snack credit if you’re on the Disney Dining Plan, it’s quite the deal for its size! Are you ready to eat your way through Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge at Walt Disney World Resort? That day is coming fast, fellow travelers, because it opens on August 29 at Disney’s Hollywood Studios! When you visit Black Spire Outpost on the planet of Batuu, you’ll be greeted with a variety of food and beverage options, and you won’t want to miss out on any of them! Oga’s Cantina If you’re thirsty for a taste of adventure, then Oga’s Cantina might be just the thing to quench your thirst! This notorious watering hole serves as the hangout spot for all of the locals as well as smugglers, bounty hunters, and the groovy droid, DJ R-3X! Here you’ll find a variety of specialty beverages with and without alcohol. For the fully-grown Jedi and bounty hunters out there, the specialty beverages with alcohol are served throughout the day. There’s even a few morning specialties like the Bloody Rancor made with vodka, chile liqueur, spicy Bloody Mary mix, and a rancor bone cookie. The afternoon and evening specialties include options like the Outer Rim featuring silver tequila, açai liqueur, lime juice, pure cane sugar, black salt, and exotic fruit purée. There’s also the Yub Nub made with pineapple rum, spiced rum, citrus juices, and passion fruit as well as my personal favorite, the Fuzzy Tauntaun. This fun drink comes with peach vodka, peach schnapps, orange juice with tangerine, pure cane sugar, and “buzz button tingling” foam. Younglings and travelers of all ages can also enjoy an array of family-friendly concoctions like the Blue Bantha. Offered all day, this beverage features blue milk served chilled and topped with a bantha-inspired vanilla-butter sugar cookie. During the afternoon and evening, sip on concoctions like the Hyperdrive (Punch It!) with Powerade Mountain Berry Blast, white cranberry juice, black cherry purée, and Sprite or the Jabba Juice featuring Simply Orange with pineapple, kiwi, cantaloupe, and blueberry popping pearls. You can also try a new provision with alcohol (exclusive to Walt Disney World Resort): the Rodian Ration. This comes with vodka, sour apple liqueur, Sprite, and green apple popping pearls. Of course, there’s also a version without alcohol called Oga’s Obsession with Odwalla Lemonade, cotton candy flavor, and blue popping pearls. For snacking, you can order Batuu Bits – a trail mix featuring different seasonal crunchies and crispies that pair perfectly with any of the drinks on the menu! Docking Bay 7 Food & Cargo Step into a working hangar bay where you’ll find that Chef Strono “Cookie” Tuggs has docked his food freighter, “Tugg’s Grub: A Traveling Diner for Diners Traveling,” right on the roof. He’s serving up a variety of dishes prepared with ingredients from across the galaxy. Sit down in the spacious hangar (or grab a table in the rustic outdoor seating area) and chow down on eats like the Felucian Garden Spread (plant-based “kefta” with herb hummus, tomato-cucumber relish, and pita) or the Yobshrimp Noodle Salad with chilled shrimp, marinated noodles, and seasonal vegetables. To drink, sip on specialty beverages without alcohol like the Moof Juice with Simply Fruit Punch, Simply Orange with pineapple, and chipotle-pineapple. For a specialty beverage with alcohol (exclusive to Walt Disney World Resort) – try the Takodana Quencher with dragon berry rum, blue curaçao, Simply Orange with pineapple, and kiwi. And to satisfy your sweet tooth, indulge in the Batuu-bon featuring chocolate cake with white chocolate mousse and coffee custard or the Oi-oi Puff – a raspberry cream puff with passion fruit mousse. Milk Stand Stop by the Milk Stand to try Batuu’s legendary blue and green treats. Both the Blue Milk and the Green Milk feature a plant-based blend of coconut and rice milks and can even be ordered with alcohol (exclusive to Walt Disney World Resort). Sip on a Blue Milk Cooler with rum or a Green Milk Cooler with tequila! And don’t forget to order your Bubo Wumba Family Farms souvenir drink vessel. Ronto Roasters Roasted to perfection by our pitmaster droid 8D-JB, the Ronto Wraps are a great grab-and-go bite served at Ronto Roasters. They come with roasted pork, grilled sausage, peppercorn sauce, and tangy slaw wrapped in pita. You can also take a bite out of some Nuna Turkey Jerky, offered in sweet and spicy flavors. To quench your thirst, you can try the non-alcoholic Tatooine Sunset with Gold Peak Unsweetened Tea, Odwalla Lemonade, melon, and blueberry. Or you can enjoy the Walt Disney World Resort exclusive specialty beverages with alcohol: Trandoshan Ale (a spiced wheat ale) or the Coruscant Cooler featuring Kentucky bourbon, cherry liqueur, fortified wine, cranberry, and lime juice. Kat Saka’s Kettle Pop into this eclectic food stall (run by grain merchant Kat Saka) in the Black Spire Outpost Marketplace for a unique taste of Batuu. The Outpost Mix is a combination of sweet and savory popcorn and is the perfect snack for the traveler on the go! When menus were released by Disney World earlier this month for its Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge dining locations, there was one notable absence: alcoholic beverages. Love it or hate it, Walt Disney World restaurants typically serve adult beverages, and we expected to see some appear on the World’s Docking Bay 7 Food & Cargo and Ronto Roasters menus. Docking Bay 7 Food and Cargo And now, with under a month left until the 11-acre land opens to the public, online menus have been updated for both eateries. Now two specialty alcoholic drinks have been added for both Docking Bay and Ronto Roasters. Docking Bay’s offerings include the Takodana Quencher ($15) comprised of Bacardi Dragon Berry Rum, Blue Curacao, Simple Orange Juice, Pineapple, and Kiwi and the Gold Squadron Lager from Blue Point Brewing Co. ($13.25), a Galaxy’s Edge exclusive beer that’s offered in Disneyland’s Oga’s Cantina. (Oga’s Disney World location has yet to release its full menu, but we expect to see exclusive beers on the menu there, too.) Docking Bay 7 Food & Cargo Menu Ronto Roasters in Disney World’s Black Spire Outpost will offer the Coruscant Cooler (named after a Star Wars universe planet) will mix Maker’s Mark Bourbon, Luxardo Maraschino Liqueur, Carpano Antica Sweet Vermouth, and Cranberry and Lime Juices. Ronto will also serve Trandoshan Ale (another Star Wars-inspired name) from Concrete Beach Brewery out of Miami. This beer does not appear on Disneyland’s Oga’s Cantina menu, leading us to believe it may be a Disney World exclusive. Ronto Roasters Menu We’ll keep our eyes peeled for Disney World’s complete Oga’s Cantina menu and let you know as soon as it’s released. In the meantime, stick with DFB as we bring you all the latest from Disney World’s upcoming Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge! Are you looking forward to tipping back a new beverage on Batuu? We all know which restaurants are popular at Walt Disney World. They’re the table-service ones that are nearly impossible to get an advance dining reservation at or the counter-service spots that never have any tables open so you end up eating your food on top of a nearby trash can (no judgment — we’ve all done it!). Char Siu Pork But what about some lesser-known Disney World dining options? We’ve compiled a list of some of our favorite underdogs; the restaurants and menu items that most park guests often overlook. Here are our top 5 things that people aren’t eating at Disney World, but oughta try!!! The Gibsons Sandwich King Cheeseburger At Disney Springs’ BOATHOUSE Walt Disney World is home to many over-the-top eats, but The Boathouse’s Classic Cheeseburger is simplicity done right. You see, The Boathouse is managed by the Gibsons Restaurant Group, an iconic Chicago-based steakhouse, and these guys know a thing or two about meat. The Boathouse The all-beef burger is made from a custom blend exclusive to The Boathouse. And while you may think this fancy steak and seafood restaurant doesn’t fit into your budget, the Gibsons Sandwich King Burger won’t make you delay your next mortgage payment! Gibsons “Sandwich King” Burger Hop Champion An excellent beef burger is topped with pepper jack, fried peppers, and more fixin’s along with a spicy aioli that makes this one of our favorite burgers on property…and that’s saying something! Gibsons Sandwich King Burger The Baseline Tap House California Cheese And Charcuterie Plate At Hollywood Studios Tucked away between Muppets 3D and the ever-popular Sci-Fi Dine-In Restaurant, the unassuming BaseLine Tap House often gets passed by. The small-ish taproom boasts a fantastic outdoor patio which usually has plenty of seating available, and the $10 Charcuterie Board is not to be missed. You’ll receive a generous portion of California-produced cheeses and meats including chorizo and calabrese salami accompanied with cornichons, grapes, and toasted baguette slices. The board is a perfect size for sharing or can be made into more of a light meal with the addition of one of Baseline’s soft Bavarian Pretzels and Californian Craft Beer Flights! BaseLine Tap House Charcuterie You can check out our full BaseLine Tap House review here! “Hardy Har Char” Siu Pork At Magic Kingdom’s Jungle Navigation Co.’s Skipper Canteen While this table-service restaurant hasn’t been a smash hit with the majority of parkgoers, its become a cult-favorite among more adventurous eaters. Jungle Skipper Canteen Sign The flavor profiles are not what you typically expect to find in theme park cuisine and the restaurant itself is a feast for the eyes, offering three unique dining rooms — The Mess Hall, The Falls Family Parlor and the Society of Adventurers and Explorers (S.E.A.) secret room. The Jungle Cruise’s distinct brand of humor is told throughout many visual gags, props, decor, and artwork. In addition to all the comedic details you’ll see, you’ll be served by your very own rib-tickling skipper! Jungle Navigation Co., Ltd. Skipper Canteen S.E.A. Room As for eats, the delicious “Hardy Har Char” Siu Pork has notes of sweet chili, soy, and seared garlic. Char Siu Pork If you don’t dine on swine, “Tastes Like Chicken” Because It Is features a pile of chicken and vegetables served over a bed of fried rice with a mouth-watering hoisin sauce. Tastes Like Chicken The Skipper Canteen also does an amazing job at preparing veggies. Often the side vegetables are so perfectly cooked and well-seasoned, they’re as delish as the main entree! Take a look at our full Skipper Canteen reviews here to see if its a must-go place for your family! Brunch At The Grand Floridian Café While just a short monorail ride away from the Magic Kingdom and Epcot, not many park guests think to grab a quick bite at The Grand Floridian before hitting the parks. It’s a shame because this quiet, tranquil restaurant would become their instant favorite if that were the case. Grand Floridian Cafe Dining Room The caliber of food at The Grand Floridian Café can’t be overstated enough and the menu’s prices are an excellent value given the food’s quality. We’ve filled up many times on the Buttermilk Fried Chicken and Waffles — a moist piece of chicken hand-dipped in tangy buttermilk batter and drenched in crispy cornflakes served over a soft, warm waffle with hot honey-like syrup — yum! Buttermilk Fried Chicken and Waffles Or for an even more kicked-up brunch, enjoy the upgraded Mickey Waffles! These aren’t just your regular Mickey-shaped waffles. Your upgrade includes a specialty syrup and three additional toppings combinations to choose from such as sugar cookie crumbles with whipped cream, strawberries and strawberry sauce, or mandarin oranges with chantilly cream, craisins, and citrus-pecan syrup just to name a few! Mickey Waffle with ALL the toppings! And the trio of benedicts ain’t half bad, either! Trio of Benedicts Check out our Grand Floridian Café breakfast review here! Bread Service You may have walked right by Nomad Lounge on your way to Pandora: The World of Avatar without ever even noticing it was there! This sleepy little bar has a super-comfy vibe from its plush outdoor patio furniture to its cozy and intimate indoor seating. Since the bar serves as the lounge for Tiffins, Nomad Lounge offers many of the same signature Tiffins cocktails and small plates. This is a great way to try a Tiffins drink or dish without spending a fortune. Nomad Lounge A fantastic option for a snack is the Tiffins Signature Bread Service which costs $11 and features a variety of flatbreads served with Indian-spiced tomato chutney, spicy coriander yogurt, and fig tapenade. If you enjoy this tasty appetizer, we recommend you check out the Animal Kingdom Lodge’s Sanaa Indian-style Bread Service. At $17 you’ll be feasting on an even wider selection of breads and spreads with great up-close viewing of Animal Kingdom Lodge’s resident zebras and giraffes! Bread Service at Sanaa! We hope you’ve enjoyed our journey off the beaten path and will explore some of these less familiar places on your next Disney World vacation. And if you can’t get into your must-do restaurant, don’t forget to check out our video all about alternatives to Disney World’s most popular restaurants here! In just the past few years, Walt Disney World began installing refillable bottle stations (officially called hydration stations) in its Parks and Resorts. To date there aren’t many, but with the many pushes Disney is making to be more eco-conscious (see their controversial plastic plans here!), we expect more will be installed in the future. And lots of readers have expressed interest in these stations, so we’re here with answers for all of your refillable bottle station questions! Refillable Water Bottle Station What are refillable bottle stations? These are water fountains specifically designed to refill bottles. Whether you bring your own water bottle into the Parks or want to reuse a water bottle you bought in your Park travels, these refillable bottle stations make it possible to refill your bottles without having to do that comical and unfruitful bottle tilt at a typical water fountain. Where can I find these wonders of bottle filling technology? Presently we’ve confirmed five refillable bottle stations, but it feels like there’s more being added on the regular. Some of the earliest were spotted in the queues of Nav’i River Journey and Flight of Passage in Animal Kingdom’s Pandora. These are accessible only to those waiting in line. We’ve also spotted a station at the Hollywood Studios bus stop and Skyliner restrooms. Hollywood Studios Entrance Restrooms Readers have noted that there’s one at the Kidani Village bus stop at Animal Kingdom Lodge, and the most recent addition we’ve seen is at Cosmic Ray’s in Magic Kingdom. At present, these hydration stations are not noted on Guide Maps. How do they work? Refillable bottle stations are designed to send a single stream of water into the mouth of your water bottle without touching the bottle. There’s an outline of a bottle in the filling station that has a sensor. This sensor recognizes when you hold or place a bottle in front of it. Once the sensor senses a bottle is in place, it will automatically send that stream of water into the bottle. As long as you’ve aligned the bottle correctly, it should fill quickly without splashing. Refillable Water Bottle Station What if I like ice cold water? We have found that the water in the refillable stations is cool (but not cold). So if you’re fine with slightly-cooler-than-lukewarm water, you’re set to go. If you prefer freezing cold water, you may want to find a nearby quick service location that will give you a (free) cup of ice that you can dump into your bottle if it has a wide enough mouth. But hey — in zillion degree weather in Orlando, just about any water is better than no water. Do I need a bottle with a filter? The refillable bottle stations do filter the water that is dispensed into bottles. However, in our experience, the water still has that distinctive central Florida taste. So if you can’t stomach that iconic flavor, you’ll want to bring a filtered bottle that helps eliminate it or bring along flavor packets for your water (which you can buy at any grocery store and bring along with you, or order from a grocery delivery service). Why would I use one of these? For starters, they typically refill a bottle efficiently and without wasting as much water as the tip-a-bottle-in-a-water-fountain approach. They also don’t have quite as much danger of someone’s mouth just having touched the spout as water fountains do. But also, the refillable bottle stations keep a tally of how many plastic bottles have been saved by utilizing the refill station, and that’s a great thing for the environment. Refillable Water Bottle Station at Cosmic Ray’s We’ll keep an eye on this developing situation and update if any additional information comes to light. But in the meantime, if it works for you, jump on the refillable bottle station craze! Will you use these refillable bottle stations? For more than 64 years, the magic of the Disneyland Resort has been rooted in the people who make it—cast members. To honor the 31,000 magic makers at the Disneyland Resort, cast members were treated to fun surprises and exclusive opportunities during the 64th Anniversary Cast Celebration Week. The festivities included complimentary meals and snacks, attraction experiences before and after park hours, photo opportunities and more. For cast member Kim Towfigh, one of the organizers of the week-long extravaganza, her role as an operations support coordinator planning cast reward and recognition events has a special meaning. Having started her career in Fantasyland attractions, Kim knows what it means to be on the receiving end of this type of gratitude and appreciation, making her current role that much more rewarding. Learn more about Kim’s role at the Disneyland Resort in this video celebrating cast members and why we honor and celebrate them during this very special anniversary week each year.
