  1. Here in Hawaii, Aulani, A Disney Resort & Spa is proud to represent The Walt Disney Company in our community in many ways. Through Disney VoluntEARS service events, collaborations with local nonprofits, donations, and even visits from our beloved Disney friends, we treasure the opportunities to bring joy and a bit of Disney magic to local families. Recently, our community outreach came together in a very special way with a party themed to “Toy Story 4” for keiki (children) at Kapi‘olani Medical Center for Women and Children in Honolulu. The party was hosted by Aulani Resort and was made possible by the Disney Team of Heroes initiative. The Walt Disney Company’s signature philanthropic commitment, Disney Team of Heroes delivers comfort and inspiration to seriously ill children around the world. Here’s a peek at some of the smiles from our visit. Through Disney Team of Heroes, Kapi‘olani Medical Center receives an annual donation of toys, which coincided with this special visit from “Toy Story” friends Woody and Bo Peep. The duo shared hugs with keiki and their families and posed for photos. Disney VoluntEARS from Aulani Resort organized entertaining games and brought new Disney toys, books and comics for the keiki. To top off the “toyful”-joyful excitement, families enjoyed a special screening of “Toy Story 4” in the hospital auditorium. View the full article
  2. We’re back on Batuu and in its charming village, Black Spire Outpost, this time for an Annual Passholder preview. And when we stopped into Oga’s Cantina for our reservation this morning, we discovered a couple of new (and updated) options on the menu! Oga’s Cantina at Walt Disney World First, we couldn’t help but notice a massive (truly!) addition: the Rancor Beer Flight has been added to the Walt Disney World Oga’s menu! When we first visited Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge earlier this month (see our Oga’s visit here!), the Flight was missing from the menu with citizens of Batuu (aka Cast Members!) saying it was expected before the land officially opens August 29th. Oga’s Cantina Menu And now it’s here! We tried the Rancor Beer Flight at Disneyland’s Oga’s (we HAD to!) where it costs $75 for a flight of the Cantina’s four beers served in Rancor teeth on a board designed to hold them. The only change to the Flight at Disney World? It’s $10 more expensive. Rancor Beer Flight in Center See our FULL review of Oga’s Cantina in Disneyland Park here and a look at what was new on our first visit to Disney World’s Oga’s here! That’s right: you’ll hand over $85 for your board, its four (admittedly cool!) tooth cups, and the beer samples. We know that’s a little steep for most guests, but for a conversation piece that you can really use, it might be a must-have for some fans! Rancor Tooth But the Rancor Beer Flight wasn’t the only new addition to Oga’s playful menu: Batuu Bits have got a new twist at Walt Disney World! Batuu Bits Yup, that’s a bowl of super-garlicky Chermoula Dip, and when we saw this on the menu, we had to have it! Batuu Bits on Disney World’s Oga’s Cantina Menu Disneyland’s version of Batuu Bits includes the Bits but not the dip (we’ll check on this to see if they update it!), and that’s a bummer because this dip of garlic, spices, and capers is crazy flavorful. Such a treat! Batuu Bits on Disneyland’s Oga’s Cantina Menu Chermoula Dip To dip in the chermoula: a whole bunch of stuff! We spotted lots of fried, crispy vegetables including carrots and green beans. (Think potato chips but also make it green beans and carrots.) Batuu Bits The fried lotus root was our least favorite dipper; it was a little tough for us, although the light spices on them were tasty. Batuu Bits Also joining the savory crowd: little chocolate meringues. These left us humming “one of these things is not like the other,” so while they’re fun and tasty, we don’t get it. Batuu Bits A surprise hit (at least for us) was the fried seaweed. It was basically just a salty chip, and with the chermoula, you’re not getting a lot of seaweed flavor. Batuu Bits Overall we were impressed by the upgraded Batuu Bits (even more so because they still cost the same as the plain Disneyland version: $8!). We’re anxious to see if Oga’s Cantina will step a little more fully into the food game (they still offer two options for breakfast — Rising Moons Overnight Oats and the Mustafarian Lava Roll), but even if Batuu Bits remain the only late-morning to Cantina closing snack on the menu, these are a fun and flavorful option! 3. MORE Food & Wine Festival food announcements?? Yeah, we actually cannot WAIT for August 29th to come. Epcot’s International Food and Wine Festival After trying a few menu items at a Food & Wine preview and seeing a lot of chef themed merch, we heard the announcement of the new Donut Box baking over in Future World AND the festival additions to Cool Wash! And, now, we’ve got a little bit of insight into the menu items coming to the booth. Starting October 1st, Coca-Cola is mixing it up at Cool Wash with frozen slushes and alcohol combinations for Food and Wine! Cool Wash Ever mixed and matched your favorite slushy flavors together for a colorful frozen concoction? 4. We have traveled over the rainbow to Epcot for another colorful Disney treat. Rainbow Panna Cotta Lately, Disney has released a bunch of different rainbow treats like the Strawberry Dole Whip Cone, the Rainbow Popcorn Cupcake, the Rainbow Pride Cupcake, and the Rainbow Push-Pop. And now, we’ve found what just might be the cutest of the rainbow treats — the Rainbow Panna Cotta. This is a regular Panna Cotta with a bit of color added to make it look like a rainbow. A white chocolate Mickey rainbow adds a final bit of decoration. Rainbow Panna Cotta If you love Panna Cotta, then this should hit the mark since the texture was very nice and smooth. Rainbow Panna Cotta We didn’t taste any particular flavors, meaning that the layers of color were all flavored the same. It just tasted like a sweet custard. Rainbow Panna Cotta But this, like the Rainbow Push-Pop we found in Animal Kingdom, makes for a really fun photo-worthy treat. You can find it at Fountain View in Epcot for $4.99 or a snack credit if you’re on the Disney Dining Plan. Which rainbow treat do you want to try? Let us know in the comments below! Lucky Fortune Cookery Menu Lucky Fortune Cookery Menu During our recent visit to Lucky Fortune, we tried the Teriyaki Chicken, Szechuan Chicken, Pot Stickers, Japanese Mule, and Lucky Dragon IPA. Disneyland Resort Construction Update Pixar Pals Parking Structure We don’t have many construction updates to share this week, but we did notice some new trees outside the Pixar Pals parking structure! 12. Hey, friends! If you’ve been following Disney trends then you likely know about all the Designer Disney Ears. Alex and Ani Ears Disney has started to release designer ears created by Imagineers, celebrities, artists, and more a few months ago! Many of these range in style and price and are sometimes a bit over-the-top (which we don’t mind!). We have already had the opportunity to check out the designer ears from Harvey’s, Alex & Ani, Noah, Kim Irvine, and Betsey Johnson. But today, Disney has announced ANOTHER release date for a pair of ears that will be arriving SOON! The Loungefly designer ears will make their official park debut on Friday, September 6th! These ears will be available at Disney World, Disneyland, and online, which means that everyone will have the opportunity to get their hands on these. ©Disney The ears are blue and are covered in fun sketches of classic Disney characters and icons like Dumbo, Mickey, Cinderella Castle, and Peter Pan’s Flight. They also feature a sparkly black bow. Will these ears make you say goodbye to your paycheck? ©Disney The sad truth is that though many of these ears are freakin’ adorbs, they tend to be pricey. We’re interested to see how much this pair will cost! These ears will be available throughout Disney World and Disneyland, but the designer ears tend to appear at Disneyana in Disneyland and Ever After Jewelry Co. in Disney Springs first. Which pair of designer ears is your favorite so far? Let us know in the comments below! Related posts: MORE Disney Designer Ears Dates Released — Haunted Mansion, Tiki Room, Hipster Mickey, and MORE! 14. A few days ago we told you that Lucky Fortune Cookery in Disney California Adventure had introduced an all-new menu, and today we’re back to share our review on some of the new items!! Lucky Fortune Cookery And we hope you’re hungry…because this stuff is GOOD. We have loved this often-overlooked location for a long time and are happy to see that it is getting the recognition it deserves. This small quick-service location can be found in the Pacific Wharf area of Disney California Adventure. Lucky Fortune Cookery The previous menu had stuck around for about 10 years, but Lucky Fortune decided it was time for a change. Now, the build-your-own bowl experience is gone and there is a whole new assortment of meal options. Sadly, this takes the customization part out of the restaurant, but we think the new menu options are still really great. The New Menu The new menu features Teriyaki Chicken, Szechuan Chicken, a Beef Bulgogi Wrap, Vegan Banh Mi, and Pork Ramen. The side options include Chicken Wings, Pot Stickers, and Ramen Toppings. Lucky Fortune Cookery Menu Kids’ meals include Vegan Banh Mi and Chicken and Rice. A few new alcoholic beverage options have also been added to the menu, including the Lucky Dragon IPA and the Japanese Mule. Lucky Fortune Cookery Menu According to the chefs at Lucky Fortune, most of these meals are made from scratch, which is really great considering this is a quick-service location. Lucky Fortune Cookery The first thing we noticed was that Lucky Fortune has done away with takeout boxes and is now serving the food on nice, thick, black glass plates. This really elevated the entire dining experience and made it feel less like fast food. Entrées We love that many of these options are healthy alternatives to items from other quick-service locations in the park. So, let’s check out a few of the new menu items together! Beef Bulgogi Wrap The Beef Bulgogi Wrap ($13.99) is made with thin marinated beef, peppers, cabbage, and prawn crackers. Beef Bulgogi Wrap We have always loved the beef at Lucky Fortune Cookery and we were happy that this new beef option did not disappoint. The beef actually reminded us of the delicious meat found on Award Wieners’ Lava Fries. Beef Bulgogi Wrap Sadly, we weren’t too fond of the tortilla as it was tough to bite into, but we did enjoy the prawn crackers found inside the wrap. All of the veggies seemed fresh and the peppers didn’t make this wrap overwhelmingly spicy. Beef Bulgogi Wrap Szechuan Chicken Speaking of spicy, if you love a bit of heat in your food then the Szechuan Chicken is THE way to go. Szechuan Chicken This meal is $12.99 and is served with steamed rice and sautéed veggies. Szechuan Chicken Not only was the spice nice, but we thought that the portion size was amazing for the price. Szechuan Chicken Teriyaki Chicken The Teriyaki Chicken is also served with sautéed veggies and steamed rice and costs $12.99. Teriyaki Chicken We also thought that this was a great portion for the price. Teriyaki Chicken The veggies and chicken were cooked well and tasted very fresh. Teriyaki Chicken Our favorite part of the dish had to be the sauce; it wasn’t too sweet but added the perfect amount of flavor. Sides Now, onto the sides. We decided to check out the Pot Stickers ($6.49) this time around. Pot Stickers These are filled with chicken and veggies. Pot Stickers We were served four but thought they were quite small and a little overpriced. We did, however, think they were both crispy and yummy! Pot Stickers Beverages We also tried two of the new alcoholic beverage options — the Lucky Dragon IPA and the Japanese Mule. Pacific Wharf Menu Options Lucky Dragon IPA The Lucky Dragon IPA ($10.00) is a Pacific Wharf-exclusive! This drink has 100% Citra hops and is made with locally-sourced oranges and lemons. Lucky Dragon IPA If you love citrus then you will enjoy this beverage — the orange and lemon flavors came through really well. Japanese Mule The Japanese Mule ($12.50) is made with Japanese whiskey, ginger beer, and simple syrup. Japanese Mule This drink is VERY sweet but we still enjoyed it and thought it paired well with the food. Nosh or Not The new Lucky Fortune Cookery Menu will be great for you if: You’re in the mood for a hefty, yet healthy meal You love Asian food and are looking for a different type of quick-service dining experience Want to Mobile Order You can skip this meal if: You’re not a big fan of rice and veggies If you’re not super hungry Overall We honestly LOVED the new menu at Lucky Fortune Cookery. Everything felt very fresh and less like fast food, especially since the food was served on real dishes. The prices are not too high, which we really appreciated as well. Don’t forget that you can use Mobile Order to order food from this location. You can read more about Mobile Order here! 21. Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party returned to Magic Kingdom Park over the weekend – and it’s this popular guest event that’s the topic of today’s Disney Doodle by artist Ashley Taylor. According to Ashley, the party would be a must-do for this longtime resident of Halloweentown. “Sally has all sorts of potions to make Halloween frightfully amazing each year,” Ashley said. “It’s easy to imagine her wanting to share her concoctions to make Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party an amazing experience for everyone!” View the full article

While we were concepting the “Let’s Boo This” campaign for Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party, we wanted to showcase a popular makeup content creator to see if a few character looks from the party could be created. Over the course of two days of filming, Kay-Lani created three “hair-raising” Mickey’s Not-So-Scary looks with Madame Leota being the first to be rolled out. 24. Oooh have we got a great new breakfast or snack option for you in Disney World’s Animal Kingdom! Get ready for some new eats in Animal Kingdom! If cinnamon is your jam, Isle of Java just introduced a sweet treat that needs to be on your “snacks to buy” list in AK. And wait until you hear about the dipping sauce! Let’s dive in… So I gotta give props to Isle of Java, who keep delivering with random baked goods that tbqh are more than you should expect from a theme park coffee kiosk. Isle of Java in Disney’s Animal Kingdom Today, we ran across some brand new mini cinnamon buns at this Joffrey’s location, and you know we had to get ’em. Cinnamon Mini Buns sign at Isle of Java And, yeah, even though we’d just stuffed ourselves at the brand new Restaurantosaurus Burgers and Sundaes dinner experience…we were totally glad we’d tried these little sweeties. Isle of Java Mini Cinnamon Buns The buns themselves were moist and substantial. Even though it was evening, we still had a decent couple of rolls here rather than a set of dry, crumbly, stale pastries (which, let’s be fair, most cinnamon buns have degraded to this point by early evening in other baked goods locations). A bun of substance Inside, again, a good amount of buttery moisture made this one worth the dough…in every respect. Inside the Mini Cinnamon Buns But let’s take a minute to talk about that dipping sauce. This isn’t your standard cream cheese dipping sauce (don’t get me wrong — I am NEVER going to throw shade at a cream cheese dipping sauce), but instead, here’s Animal Kingdom giving us a little something exotic. Coffee Caramel Dipping Sauce Coffee…Caramel? I mean…why hasn’t this been happening FOREVER? It’s different. It’s exotic. But it SHOULDN’T be…right? Coffee and caramel seem like they should be made for each other. And with this sauce, they were. The coffee was the stronger flavor here for sure, but the caramel flavor cut through the bitterness and brought the sweet. Overall the cinnamon buns are a (remarkably decent version of a) reliable, recognizable pastry, and that dipping sauce brings a fun, unique-but-shouldn’t-really-be-all-that-strange flavor to the mix. Are we singing about them from the rooftops? Nope. But when we find a cinnamon roll that can hold up to our scrutiny, we’re definitely going to mention it to you. You can grab them for $4.29 or a Disney Dining Plan snack credit. What’s your must-get Animal Kingdom snack? Let us know in the comments! 25. Do you hear the thump thumping of big prehistoric feet and smell some incredible food grilling? Restaurantosaurus That’s right! We’re traveling back to the Mesozoic era in Animal Kingdom‘s Dinoland, U.S.A. to feast on some carnivorous and omnivorous eats at Restaurantosaurus‘s new dinner experience! While we’ve talked about how much we love the dino-themed quick-service location in our previous reviews, we were super excited to find out that they would be implementing a whole new dinner experience starting TONIGHT! Restaurantosaurus Atmosphere For a set price of $22.99 without tax per adult and $14.99 without tax per child aged 3-9 or a Disney Dining Plan quick-service credit, guests can select an entrée from a variety of burgers, a side dish, a token for a build-your-own-sundae bar, and a non-alcoholic drink. They had us at ice cream, tbh. Restaurantosaurus Entrance When we entered the restaurant, we checked in at a podium on the left side of room where we were greeted with a warm smile from the Cast Members. This is a podium dedicated only to the Burgers and Sundaes experience guests. Restaurantosaurus Dinner Check-In Note that Restaurantosaurus will continue to serve regular counter service options to other guests during this dining experience, but that Burgers and Sundaes folks will be seated in a special dining room. They handed us a small chalkboard with our name and table number and menus to glance through before placing our orders. Restaurantosaurus Regular Dinner Menu Restaurantosaurus Regular Dinner Menu There was even an allergy-friendly menu to accommodate guests further! Restaurantosaurus Allergy-Friendly Dinner Menu Restaurantosaurus Allergy-Friendly Dinner Menu Now there were many “magical moments” for us during the evening, but here’s the first: the burgers featured during the Restaurantosaurus dinner were developed by the same chef team who created D-Luxe Burgers at Disney Springs! YUM!! The burger blend is 7 ounces of seriously delicious brisket, short rib, and chuck. We settled on the Chili-Cheese (obviously we gotta have cheese) Corn Chips Burger and the Sunny-Side Up Burger. After placing our order with the Cast Member furthest to the left, we were given our ice cream tokens and our seater met with us to take us to our table. (How cute is this token?!?) Restaurantosaurus Ice Cream Token Along the way, she explained to us that there were unique dipping sauces we were welcome to help ourselves to (UM YES PLS ALL THE SAUCES)… Restaurantosaurus Dipping Sauce Station … cold and hot beverage cups were available by the drink station… Restaurantosaurus Drink Station …and that we could use the ice cream tokens to build our own dig site at the sundae bar after our meal! Adorbs. Restaurantosaurus Ice Cream Station After we sat down at our table and our chalkboard was taken from us… Restaurantosaurus Atmosphere …we were encouraged to doodle (and even write love notes to each other) with the white butcher paper and buckets filled with markers, crayons, and stencils. Table Doodle Bucket Table Doodle Bucket After all, the paleontologists who created the restaurant encourage guests to have a dino-mite time! Table Doodle Utensils Our Table Doodle! We were also told by our food runner that there wasn’t any outdoor seating for this experience at Restaurantosaurus. Instead, they stressed the benefit of AC and a fun meal without it being actual table service. We definitely didn’t mind staying out of the humidity, especially since it rained during our meal! Restaurantosaurus Dining Table Now let’s just talk about the cast members for a minute because THEY WERE AMAZING. So fun, so dedicated to making sure everyone had a great time, and 100% making the experience all that it could be. While we waited for our orders to arrive, cast members and managers kept walking around to check on tables and tell jokes to guests. “What’s a smart dinosaur called? A Thesaurus!” Restaurantosaurus Cast Member We hopped up over to check out the dipping sauces at the station. They had Buffalo, BBQ Mustard, Mayo Ketchup, and Horseradish sauces, all created by the same team who worked on the D-Luxe menu sauces! Dipping Sauces Okay, so we have to admit that Mayo Ketchup with its slightly sweet and slightly tangy taste and the BBQ Mustard with its smoky hints were our favorites, even though the Buffalo and Horseradish were still delicious. Dipping Sauces Moments after getting back to our table, we were surprised to have our food brought out so quickly (score a million for the chefs and food runners!!). Our Tasty Burgers! We started with the Chili-Cheese Corn Chip Burger… And, boy, did it taste like a grown-up sloppy joe! Chili-Cheese Corn Chip Burger The chili was seasoned beautifully and mixed with a hearty amount of sauce, meat, and more, but it never felt too heavy. Chili-Cheese Corn Chip Burger That bun was sturdy, you guys! No sloppiness here! Chili-Cheese Corn Chip Burger The Fritos on top added a satisfying crunch to every bite without getting soggy. Chili-Cheese Corn Chip Burger Chili-Cheese Corn Chip Burger The fries were basically steak fries — salty, thick, and ready to be dipped in as much sauce or chili as you like. Restaurantosaurus Fries Despite how yummy the Chili-Cheese Corn Chip Burger was, the Sunny-Side Up Burger was our favorite of the two (it was a hard decision to make!!). Sunny-Side Up Burger Each part of the burger was layered beautifully, making our mouths water before even tasting it! Sunny-Side Up Burger The mildly flavored cheese mixed well the the stronger tastes of the other ingredients. Sunny-Side Up Burger An ya gotta love that egg ooze. Sunny-Side Up Burger (Ugh, just look at all the peppered, eggy GOODNESS!!) Sunny-Side Up Burger D-luxe Burger in Disney Springs is known (to us at DFB anyway) for being one of the only places that doesn’t automatically cook your counter service burger to oblivion, and we appreciated that here as well. Sunny-Side Up Burger The chips placed on the bottom added some saltiness and texture to the soft burger. The onion rings were nice and crispy, although they tasted like typical counter service and not anything really special. Restaurantosaurus Onion Rings During our meal, we were told by the manager that they would be tentatively adding two bartenders to the staff at Restaurantosaurus so there would be one cocktail server to work the dining room and the other for quick-service. The same drinks served at Restaurantosaurus Lounge would be available during the dinner experience for an extra fee. Restaurantosaurus Lounge After our dinner plates were cleared, we were ready for our favorite part of the meal: ICE CREAM! Restaurantosaurus Ice Cream Station We took our tokens and were on our merry way to have a Cast Member give us the 2 scoops our coupon allowed. Restaurantosaurus Ice Cream Station The hand-scooped Edy’s ice cream featured regular flavors like Chocolate… Chocolate Edy’s Ice Cream … Vanilla… Vanilla Edy’s Ice Cream … Strawberry… Strawberry Edy’s Ice Cream … And a Raspberry Sorbet for guests with dietary restrictions and allergies. Raspberry Sorbet Edy’s Ice Cream But the real hero of the night: The SUNDAE TOPPING BAR! How much does my OCD brain love this map-o-toppings? SO. MUCH. Restaurantosaurus Sundae Topping Bar Hot Caramel and Hot Fudge were plentiful. Restaurantosaurus Sundae Topping Bar And then there was this sheer beauty. All the sauces, sprinkles, whipped cream, cherries, candy, and crunchies you could ever want — all there at the ready. These included chocolate chip cookies, whipped cream (x2), strawberry topping, pineapple topping, cherries, Mickey sprinkles, rainbow sprinkles, graham cracker crumbs, cake crumbs, fruity pebbles, M&Ms, chocolate cookie crumbles, chocolate rocks, waffle cone pieces, and (whew!) oreos. Restaurantosaurus Sundae Topping Bar Restaurantosaurus Sundae Topping Bar You can double up on flavors with your two scoops, so we chose vanilla and strawberry. Our Sundae Before And then aaaaaaaalmost used every topping in the haus. Our Sundae After I’m in love. Are you in love? Our Restaurantosaurus Build-Your-Own-Sundae Yeah — this whole situation was completely adorable, the cast members were wonderful, and we’d have no trouble at all coming back again! <3 Nosh or Not Restaurantosaurus’ new burgers and sundae bar experience will be great for you if: You’re in Animal Kingdom and are looking for a different take on counter service You love a good burger and are DONE with the “hockey puck special” you’ll get at most Disney counter service locations Your kiddo (or YOU) loves ice cream and can’t pass up a good sundae bar You want to take a little break in your touring, but don’t want to pay the prices for a table service restaurant You can skip this mesozoic meal if: You’re not a burger fan $22 for a counter service meal sounds over-the-top for your budget You’d rather mobile order, eat, and get back to the rides Overall We. Had. A. Blast. It was a very fun evening, and you could tell the cast members were having a great time with it. The food was remarkable (we love a good D-Luxe Burger and these were a super fun set of new options), and while the setting was still a counter service restaurant, we’ve never kept it a secret that we think Restaurantosaurus is an incredibly fun imagineering concept. But the thing that’s notable here is that this will be amazing for kids. The butcher paper and stencils, the sundae bar, the fun atmosphere — it’s perfect for your creative kiddo. And if mom and dad can have a great burger at the same time — SOLD. We’re not sure how long this experience will go on. It may be limited time during the Galaxy’s Edge crowd influx, or it may last a while longer. We’ll keep you updated here at DFB — see the link below to join our newsletter. Note that Pizzafari’s table-service dinner experience is still ongoing on the other side of Discovery Island, so it’s looking like Animal Kingdom continues to experiment with hybrid table service/counter service options for park guests.
