  1. In today’s Disney Doodle, artist Ashley Taylor imagines what Ursula from “The Little Mermaid” would do if she had the chance to visit the Walt Disney World Resort. According to Ashley, Ursula is always looking for a way to ruin Ariel’s plans. What better place to get up to her trickery than in Fantasyland? “Ursula is always up to her tricks,” Ashley said. “It’s easy to imagine Ursula transforming into Vanessa in order to fool Ariel at Under the Sea ~ Journey of The Little Mermaid.” View the full article

  3. Gasps, shouts, tears of joy – even eyes widened and jaws dropped in awe – have all been common reactions of guests visiting Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge at Disney’s Hollywood Studios. Since the highly anticipated land debuted at the park last month, guests have made Black Spire Outpost on the planet Batuu a must-experience vacation destination – the place where their dreams of embarking on a thrilling Star Wars adventure come to life. We asked a few travelers about their experiences inside the groundbreaking new land, and here’s what they told us: Guests at Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge can explore – and control – the Millennium Falcon, build their own droids and lightsabers, enjoy the out-of-this-world atmosphere of Oga’s Cantina, taste Blue Milk, acquire rare artifacts from Dok-Ondar’s Den of Antiquities, and choose a companion from the Creature Stall (note: they have Porgs!). The land is also populated by residents of Black Spire Outpost, as well as familiar faces from both the Resistance and the First Order. At Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge, unforgettable experiences and encounters seem to happen around every corner! 7. Are you ready for some good ol’ fashioned entertainment? Good! Because Disney has just announced a few NEW entertainment offerings coming to Frontierland and The Golden Horseshoe in Disneyland. The Golden Horseshoe We recently shared that a few shows were set to take their final Disneyland bow — one of which actually took place inside The Golden Horseshoe! But, now we can turn our frowns upside down thanks to this big announcement! NEXT WEEK, guests can expect to see a strolling magician. This magician will be performing different types of magic tricks throughout the day. You’ll find this “master of magic on the streets of Frontierland, aboard the Mark Twain steamboat, or mingling with patrons inside The Golden Horseshoe!” Seating and Stage Under the Rotunda A new piano show will also be making its way to The Golden Horseshoe later this fall. The pair of piano players will “challenge one another in a good ol’ fashioned showdown.” They will take turns playing Old Western tunes and they will even take requests from the audience! Magic and music? Sounds like a good time to me! Join the DFB Newsletter to get all the breaking news right in your inbox! Click here to Subscribe! Check out our Disneyland Food Reviews Here!! 8. We’re back with another DFB restaurant review for you! Today, we’re going to head back over to Tangaroa Terrace, which you can find at the Disneyland Hotel. Tangaroa Terrace Yesterday, we shared our thoughts on Tangaroa Terrace’s new lunch and dinner menu, and now we’re BACK to chat about the new breakfast menu. Tangaroa Terrace is a quick-service restaurant offering an American menu with a Polynesian flair. We love kicking back with a meal on the outdoor patio. This location offers Mobile Order, which makes it a great option for guests staying at the Disneyland Hotel. Tangaroa Terrace Outdoor Bar and Patio The new breakfast menu, which is offered daily until 11:00 AM, includes an American Breakfast, Thick & Fluffy Japanese Pancakes, the Loco Moco Burrito, Tangaroa Toast, an Açaí Chia Breakfast Bowl, and Avocado Toast. Tangaroa Terrace Breakfast Menu Little ones can enjoy a Kid’s Power Pack, Junior Scramble, Kid’s Thick & Fluffy Pancake, or Kid’s Mickey-shaped Tangaroa Toast. Tangaroa Terrace Kid’s Breakfast Menu For the purposes of our review today, we’re going to chat about every item on the breakfast menu aside from Tangaroa Toast, which we enjoyed earlier this year! Let’s dig in! Eats American Breakfast First up — the American Breakfast, which includes scrambled eggs, bacon, sweet potato hash, and a pineapple wedge for $15. American Breakfast We were happy with everything included in this classic meal! If you’re looking for a simple but hearty meal, the American Breakfast is your go-to. American Breakfast Avocado Toast Next, we tried the Avocado Toast ($14), which is made with toasted Hawaiian bread topped with a soft-boiled egg, furikake hollandaise, sliced Portuguese sausage, fried nori, and edible flowers. Avocado Toast Avocado lovers — this is for you! This was, without a doubt, one of our favorite things from our breakfast at Tangaroa Terrace. It was fresh and delicious! Avocado Toast Loco Moco Burrito We continued our breakfast with the Loco Moco Burrito, which is on the menu for $13. The burrito is filled with steamed rice, chopped beef patty, fried egg, gravy, and crunchy onions, and it’s served with medium-heat Salsa Roja. Loco Moco Burrito While we liked the burrito, it just didn’t feel like a breakfast item to us. It was a very heavy and filling meal, but still tasty. We’d just be more likely to order one of the other items for breakfast in the future. Loco Moco Burrito Thick & Fluffy Japanese Pancakes After that, we ordered the Thick & Fluffy Japanese Pancakes ($13). These vanilla pancakes are topped with tropical fruit compote, starfruit, and guava syrup, and they come with bacon. Thick & Fluffy Japanese Pancakes Oh goodness, these SUPER FLUFFY pancakes were so yummy! The guava syrup was incredible but not too overpowering. If you’re looking for a sweet and potentially shareable breakfast, do yourself a favor and order these pancakes. Thick & Fluffy Japanese Pancakes Açaí Chia Breakfast Bowl Finally, we tried the Açaí Chia Breakfast Bowl for $8. To make this bowl, Açaí puree is blended with bananas, strawberries, and coconut milk, layered with chia seed pudding, and topped with granola, berries, and cacao nibs. Açaí Chia Breakfast Bowl If you’re looking for something light and refreshing, this is the perfect find! We absolutely loved this bowl and thought the price was perfect as well. Açaí Chia Breakfast Bowl Overall We were very pleased with Tangaroa Terrace’s new breakfast menu and honestly have nothing bad to say about it. We enjoyed everything we tried, but our favorites were the Japanese Pancakes and Avocado Toast. Tangaroa Terrace Breakfast Items If you’re staying at the Disneyland Hotel (or even if you aren’t), head on over to Tangaroa Terrace to check out these yummy new breakfast options. Don’t forget to use Mobile Order while you’re there! Check out more Disneyland Food Reviews Here!! Join the DFB Newsletter to get all the breaking news right in your inbox! Click here to Subscribe! 9. Since opening in 1955, Frontierland has played host to a wide range of variety acts, from heroes on horseback to comedians and can-can dancers. This fall, Disneyland park guests can look forward to some new entertainment on the western front. A strolling magician arrives in town next week, with astonishing demonstrations of sleight-of-hand and other tricks. During the fall season, this master of magic can be found on the streets of Frontierland, aboard the Mark Twain steamboat or mingling with patrons inside The Golden Horseshoe. Following later in the fall, The Golden Horseshoe lays out the welcome mat for a pair of piano players, ready to challenge one another in a good ol’ fashioned showdown. They’ll take turns playing iconic tunes of the Old West and even take requests from the audience. Think you can stump them? You’ll have to stop in and give it your best shot! So mosey on over to Frontierland and The Golden Horseshoe this fall and say, “Hello, everybody!” These new performers will be mighty glad to meet you! View the full article
  10. Cast Members at Walt Disney World take a lot of pride in calling Central Florida our home, and for nearly five decades, we’ve brought the magic found in our parks out into the community by supporting local nonprofits who are inspiring lasting and impactful change. Each year, we invest in the unique and creative projects these nonprofits offer, and over the next few weeks, we will be going out into the Central Florida community to reveal and celebrate this year’s 2019 Disney Grants recipients! Investing in the community that’s near and dear to our hearts is the driving force behind Walt Disney World’s signature giving program, Disney Grants. This week, we presented McCormick Research Institute—a local nonprofit providing life-changing equine-therapy to veterans and individuals with special needs—with a $75,000 Disney Grant to help support their Heavenly Hooves and Horses & Heroes programs in Osceola County. These programs empower local residents through compassion and therapy and help provide the emotional and physical stability they need to continue healing and be the best version of themselves. The $75,000 Disney Grant will also help support the organization’s ongoing research to improve social functioning, self-regulating behaviors, and language and motor skills for veterans and children with cognitive disabilities. To celebrate the impact of this exceptional organization, Walt Disney World Resort joined veterans and families at the ranch to meet the team that makes it all possible. Walt Disney World’s active duty military and veteran employee group—SALUTE—even had to chance to watch McCormick Research Institute’s Veteran Drill Team cadence riding routine and share experiences as current and former service members. Watch the video below to learn more about McCormick Research Institute’s impact in Osceola County and join us in the special moment they were #GrantedByDisney. Stay tuned to learn more about all nine 2019 Disney Grant recipients! View the full article

  15. Disney World is home to SO MANY restaurants, and some of the BEST are in the four theme parks and in Disney Springs. Cinderella Castle BUT many of our favorite restaurants are found at the over 20 Disney World resort hotels! Today, we’re going to tell you about the best meals you can get without ever leaving your resort. Let’s get started! Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge is home to some pretty epic food — it’s certainly one of our favorite Disney World resorts for a good meal. While we enjoy both the guest-favorite buffet, Boma, and the hidden gem counter-service spot, The Mara, today we’re taking you over to Jiko and Sanaa. Animal Kingdom Lodge Jiko…The Cooking Place Jiko is located in the Jambo House section of Animal Kingdom Lodge and offers a signature dining experience for dinner. “Signature Dining” = expensive and two credits on the Disney Dining Plan, buuuuut it also means high-end service and thoughtful, seasonally-inspired eats. Jiko Dining Room The menu at Jiko changes regularly, reflecting the seasonality of the ingredients and creativity of the chefs. The drink menu offers cocktails taking their inspiration (at least in name) from Africa and a wine list consisting of wine representing several regions of the African continent. Victoria Falls Mist at Jiko A standout for us (and a favorite of many Disney guests) is undoubtedly the Oak-Grilled Filet Mignon. Its sides have varied over the years, but the ORIGINAL side with this dish was mac and cheese! Now, it’s sometimes still served with a fancied-up Bobotie Mac and Cheese, but we always ask for a side of the kid’s Mac and Cheese instead — for old time’s sake. YOU can do the same. It happens so often that the servers sometimes even remind guests that it’s still an option. If you typically enjoy filet, you’ve gotta try it at Jiko. Oak-Grilled Filet Mignon The Elk and Wild Boar are also excellent if they happen to be in the menu when you’re there. Wild Boar Tenderloin We should note that Jiko can be hit-or-miss now and then, but we still enjoy the slightly adventurous food and stunning atmosphere. The service here has often been exceptional as well. Read our recent full review of Jiko here! Sanaa Sanaa is perhaps our favorite restaurant at Animal Kingdom Lodge, and you’ll find it in the Kidani Village section of the resort. You can dine here for breakfast, lunch, or dinner, and it costs one table service credit on the Disney Dining Plan. Sanaa Seating What makes this restaurant so special is its view of the resort’s Sunset Savanna. While you’re enjoying a delicious meal, you just might spot a zebra or giraffe grazing outside. Because of this view, we highly recommend dining here for lunch instead of dinner. At lunchtime, you’ll have a much better chance of spotting the beautiful animals. At dinner it’s pretty much…dark. And the only animals you’ll see are the reflections of yourself in the big floor to ceiling windows. Savanna View On the drink menu, you’ll find a variety of cocktails and beers, including the Safari Amber and the Malawi Mango Margarita, which just so happens to be one of our favorite Disney margaritas. Malawi Mango Margarita Favorites on the food menu include the absolutely wonderful (but NOT complimentary) Indian-Style Bread Service (SO MANY dipping choices!!) and the Potjie Inspired with Butter Chicken. Sanaa does have some adventurous options on the menu, but it has some more accessible items too, like the Kenya Coffee Barbecue Sandwich. Bread Service at Sanaa! Seriously, we dream of that Butter Chicken. SO. GOOD. Potjie Inspired with Butter Chicken and Cilantro-Coconut Vegetables Sanaa is a bit off the beaten path if you aren’t staying at Animal Kingdom Lodge, but we think it’s worth the trip if you’re having a non-park day to try it out and to explore all the beautiful African art around the resort. Check out our full review of Sanaa here! Disney’s Contemporary Resort California Grill If you want a truly iconic meal with a fantastic view, look no further than California Grill, which is perched atop Disney’s Contemporary Resort. The restaurant offers dinner every day as well as brunch on Sundays. Reservations are HIGHLY recommended, but you can also dine in the restaurant’s lounge and order from the full menu. California Grill California Grill’s menu changes seasonally, but you’ll always find a selection of flatbreads, sushi, meats, and seafood on the menu. The beverage menu is chock full of more than 300 wines, and over 50 wines are available by the glass. If you’re in the mood for a delicious cocktail, we’ve enjoyed the Passion Fruit Margarita. Passion Fruit Margarita On the main menu, the flatbreads tend to appeal to us the most, and we typically enjoy the Oak Fired Filet as well. Rotisserie Chicken Flatbread Oak Fired Filet Perhaps the most popular reason for dining at California Grill is for its wonderful view of Magic Kingdom’s fireworks. If you time your meal right, you can either view the show from the restaurant’s windows or you can head out onto their viewing platform. Don’t worry if you can only get a reservation earlier in the evening — if you show your receipt, you’ll be able to come back for fireworks viewing. View of Fireworks from the California Grill While the consistency has gone down a smidge since Chef Piasecki left, we still think California Grill is a great destination for a special occasion or date night. If you’re on the Disney Dining Plan, this meal will cost you two meal credits, but in our opinion, you get a lot of bang for your buck with this meal. Read our full review of California Grill here! Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort Hoop-Dee-Doo Musical Revue Did you know the United States’ longest-running dinner show is in Disney World??? You can find it at Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort! Hoop-Dee-Doo Musical Revue is located in Pioneer Hall and assures guests a rollicking good time. Hoop-Dee-Doo Musical Revue Pioneer Hall Players Hoop-Dee-Doo offers an all-you-care-to-enjoy meal, and that includes unlimited beer, wine, and sangria for guests who are 21 and older. Sangria at Hoop-Dee-Doo What will you be dining on during your 2-hour dinner show? Fried chicken, BBQ pork ribs, salad, baked beans, cornbread, and strawberry shortcake, of course! You also may get a seasonal vegetable as well. Fried Chicken Smoked Barbecued Pork Ribs We LOVE the cornbread and strawberry shortcake, so be sure to save some room! Cornbread at Hoop-Dee-Doo Strawberry Shortcake Now, we do need to chat a bit about Hoop-Dee-Doo’s category seating. You have your choice of being seated in Category One, Two, or Three when you make your Advance Dining Reservation (prepaid in full, tax and gratuity included). Category One is floor seating right by the stage. Categories Two and Three are either farther back from the stage on the floor, or upstairs. Various Seating Arrangements We highly recommend choosing Category One or Two for an optimal viewing experience. We chose Category Three in the past, and we were facing a wall instead of the show. Category Three Seats Facing away from the Stage Yes, you’re stool swivels, but…not the same. Hoop-Dee-Doo Pioneer Hall Players If you’re looking for a truly unique dining experience, be sure to check out Hoop-Dee-Doo. Just note that it can be a bit pricey, and it will cost you two table service credits if you’re on the Disney Dining Plan. Well worth it, in our opinion, for a fun evening of laughs and good grub! Check Out Our Hoop Dee Doo Revue Cornbread Recipe HERE! Trail’s End Restaurant If you’re looking for similar food to Hoop Dee Doo without paying for the pricey dinner show, head on over to Trail’s End Restaurant! Trail’s End Restaurant Sign Trail’s End currently operates as a buffet for breakfast and lunch every day over there at Fort Wilderness, and it offers brunch on the weekend. It serves much of the same food you’ll get at Hoop-Dee-Doo Musical Revue! During dinner, you’ll find things like ribs, fried chicken, pasta, shrimp, and fruit cobbler, while breakfast offers items like Mickey waffles, KILLER cinnamon rolls, yogurt parfaits, breakfast hash, and more. Buffet at Trail’s End Mickey Waffles at Trail’s End The great thing about this meal is that it’s one of the least expensive buffets on Disney World property. We highly recommend this place for a low-key escape from the busy park crowds. Read our reviews of Trail’s End Restaurant here! Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa From Citricos and Narcoossee’s to 1900 Park Fare, Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort is home to a plethora of popular (and yummy!) restaurants. But our personal must-do dining spots are Grand Floridian Cafe and Victoria & Albert’s. Grand Floridian Resort in Disney World Grand Floridian Cafe Grand Floridian Cafe has been an underrated favorite of ours for quite a while. You can dine here for breakfast, lunch, or dinner, and it’ll cost you one credit on the Disney Dining Plan. Grand Floridian Cafe Dining Room This place does comfort food exceptionally well. If you’re in the mood for breakfast, look no further than the rich and decadent Floridian Pancakes. We’re not exaggerating when we say they’re totally epic!! These will fill you up for the majority of the day!! Floridian Pancakes Read our full review of the Floridian Pancakes here! You also can’t go wrong with the Buttermilk-fried Chicken and Waffle, which we used to order as a hack, but it’s now on the permanent menu! Grand Floridian Cafe Chicken and Waffle The chicken itself is delicious and SUPER crunchy thanks to the cornflake breading, and the waffle is golden and toasty. But the Sriracha Honey drizzle is what really sets this meal over the top. Learn more about the Chicken and Waffle here! For a more savory meal, we love the Lobster Thermidor Burger, which is available on the menu all day long. Lobster Thermidor Burger at Grand Floridian Cafe This is a seven-ounce Artisanal Burger Patty with Lobster-Parmesan Thermidor Sauce. It comes on a Seared Brioche Bun and is served with the Cafe’s Signature Seasoned French Fries. This thing is absolutely delicious and a MUST in our opinion! Read our full review of the Lobster Thermidor Burger here! Victoria & Albert’s If you’re looking for a truly elegant dining experience, you’ll want to try Victoria & Albert’s. Serving 8-12 courses over 2+ hours, Disney’s Victoria and Albert’s Restaurant is one of the most exclusive dining experiences in Florida. Main Dining Room at Victoria & Albert’s And with its AAA five-diamond rating, it’s also one of the three most critically acclaimed restaurants in Florida. New Zealand Langoustine with Pickled Daikon and Avocado Our personal favorite way to experience Victoria & Albert’s is by sitting at the Chef’s Table. In our opinion, this provides a more intimate setting, allowing guests to really interact with the chefs. Your food tastes even better when you’ve seen firsthand the passion that goes into preparing it. Learn from the Chefs at Victoria & Albert’s Chef’s Table Read about our most recent Chef’s Table experience here! While the Chef’s Degustation menu is pre-set, you’ll find a super extensive beverage menu, including — if you can believe it — $120 Svalbardi Polar Iceberg Water. Iceberg Water at Victoria & Albert’s It probably goes without saying that dining at Victoria & Albert’s will cost you a nice chunk of change. The Chef’s Table costs $235 per guest (Disney Dining Plan credits are not accepted here), and an optional wine pairing costs $150 per guest. Despite its high price tag, it is a truly unique experience and worth doing at least once if you can swing it. Read our full review of Victoria & Albert’s here! Disney’s Old Key West Resort Olivia’s Cafe At Disney’s Old Key West Resort, you can find one of our favorite hidden gems — Olivia’s Cafe. This out-of-the-way restaurant is open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Though Old Key West is a Disney Vacation Club resort, all guests are welcome. Olivia’s Cafe Olivia’s specialties include seafood and home-style eats with Florida Keys accents. One of our favorite things on the lunch and dinner menu is the Southernmost Buttermilk Chicken. The gravy alone makes this meal worth ordering! Love this comfort food! Read more about the Southernmost Buttermilk Chicken! A unique (and yummy!) offering on the breakfast menu is the Sombrero Beach Omelet, which comes with Olivia’s delicious breakfast potatoes. Sombrero Beach Omelet You really can’t go wrong with a nice meal at Olivia’s Cafe! And if you’re staying at OKW, you’ve got to make time for Olivia’s. Read our full review of Olivia’s Cafe here! Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort The Twilight Feast Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort is home to several standout locations, including ‘Ohana, Kona Cafe, and Trader Sam’s Grog Grotto. While we love going to these spots, sometimes at the end of a long Disney day, we just want to eat in the comfort of our resort room. That’s where the Polynesian Twilight Feast comes into play! Twilight Feast If you’re staying at the Poly, you can enjoy ‘Ohana’s tasty cuisine from your room’s balcony…or, why not??, in bed. Could it get any better?? The Polynesian Twilight Feast is listed on the in-room dining menu for $60 and features all the same menu items you’d get at ‘Ohana. In-Room Dining Twilight Feast Menu Maybe you’re thinking the $60 price tag seems a little high, and we totally get that. But two people can easily share a Twilight Feast serving meant for one person. The picture below displays the serving for ONE PERSON (though the diet cokes were extra) — it’s a lot of food, you guys! Twilight Feast And don’t worry, you’ll still get to enjoy the delicious ‘Ohana Bread Pudding as part of your meal! (Ice Cream sold separately.) Bread Pudding! As much fun as we have dining at ‘Ohana there’s something to be said about getting cozy and tucking in to your meal in the privacy of your room! Learn more about why we love the Polynesian Twilight Feast in our full review! Disney’s Port Orleans Resort — French Quarter Sassagoula Floatworks & Food Factory For a delicious and reasonably-priced meal, we recommend Sassagoula Floatworks & Food Factory, which you’ll find over at Port Orleans Resort — French Quarter. This counter-service location serves New Orleans fare in a laid-back and festive atmosphere. Sassagoula Floatworks and Food Factory If you visit Sassagoula during lunch or dinner, we recommend the Jambalaya, which is a traditional Louisiana rice dish featuring chicken and andouille sausage. We love the strong flavors and seasonings in this dish, and we find ourselves getting it almost every time we dine at Sassagoula. (FYI it comes with some yummy cornbread, too!) Jambalaya Definitely, don’t skip a Mickey Praline for dessert! This creamy, sweet New Orleans treat is even better with Mickey ears, if you ask us!! House-made Pecan Praline If you’re visiting during breakfast (or anytime, really), you’ve gotta try the Mickey Beignets. These are fluffy, sweet, and snack credit-eligible! Beignets at Sassagoula And if you’re in the mood to really “Laissez les bon temps rouler” we TOTALLY think you should duck into nearby Scat Cat’s Club to try out the boozy beignets on the menu! Godiva Chocolate Beignet These are the same beignet recipe from Sassagoula Floatworks, but with a kick! Beignets get kicked up with individual pipettes of your choice of Bailey’s, Khalua, Rumchata or SECRET MENU Godiva Chocolate Liquor (or mix and match flavors!) For our full review click HERE! Read our full review of Sassagoula Floatworks & Food Factory here! Disney’s Wilderness Lodge Storybook Dining at Artist Point with Snow White Storybook Dining at Artist Point with Snow White is a relatively new character meal at Disney’s Wilderness Lodge. Artist Point previously offered a signature dinner, but the restaurant has since been transformed. Artist Point The restaurant currently offers a prix fixe dinner (for one credit on the Disney Dining Plan), during which you can meet Snow White, Dopey, and Grumpy, and snap a photo with the Evil Queen herself! Snow White The Queen at Storybook Dining! The prix fixe dinner for Storybook Dining at Artist Point offers guests their choice of an individually plated entree, along with shared appetizers and desserts for the table, with each course offering items themed to Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs. Shared Appetizers for the Table During our visit, we especially enjoyed the Royal Prime Rib Roast and A Stroll Through Nature, which is a vegetarian gnocchi option. But all of the dishes we ordered were excellent. Royal Prime Rib Roast A Stroll Through Nature Storybook Dining at Artist Point also offers some intriguing beverages themed to the beloved film, like The Smoking Mirror and the non-alcoholic Transformation Lemonade. The Smoking Mirror Transformation Lemonade And don’t forget the special surprise at the end! Special Dessert at Artist Point We had hot and cold experiences at Artist Point before the transformation, but the new Storybook Dining option knocks it out of the park! We really love this experience. Read our full review of Storybook Dining at Artist Point here! Disney’s Yacht and Beach Club Resorts Beaches & Cream Last but certainly not least on our list is the cult-favorite Beaches & Cream, which is located at Disney’s Beach Club Resort. This old-fashioned soda shop serves a variety of ice cream treats and diner favorites and we enjoy the food every time we visit! Our absolute favorite meal to order is the Grilled Cheese and Tomato Bisque. That sandwich has a delicious combo of six types of cheese, and it’s easily one of our favorite grilled cheese options on property!! Grilled Cheese with Tomato Soup On the dessert side of things, our favorite option is the No Way Jose. This huge sundae is filled with chocolate and vanilla ice cream, generous pours of both hot fudge and peanut butter sauce, peanut butter and chocolate chips, whipped cream, and a cherry. No matter how many times we go to Beaches & Cream, we always love it. No Way Jose Sundae Read our full review of Beaches & Cream here! Now, we must note that at the time of this post, Beaches & Cream is temporarily closed for refurbishment. Thankfully, there is a temporary satellite location next door at Ariel’s, but we are anxiously awaiting Beaches & Cream’s reopening! Satellite Beaches & Cream Location (Don’t worry; you can still get the No Way Jose!) No Way Jose at Beaches and Cream Temporary Location Well, friends, that wraps up our list of some of our favorite meals you can eat WITHOUT leaving your resort hotel! 16. There are dozens of seminars, demonstrations, and food and beverage pairings during the Epcot International Food and Wine Festival, and with options from the Mexican Tequila Lunch to Parisian Breakfast, there’s something for everyone. Since football season has officially kicked off, we put on our game face and dusted off our touchdown dance to enjoy an evening at the BRAND NEW Tailgate Tasting! Tailgate Tasting The Tailgate Tasting is a low-cost Food and Wine Festival event that costs $19 per person and includes three sample-sized bites (much more on these below!), three sample-sized beverages for pairing, recipes to recreate the dishes, and a culinary demonstration. There’s even a themed souvenir (we’ll share pics in a bit!) to take with you at the end of the event! Atmosphere The Tailgate Tasting takes place in World ShowPlace over between the U.K. and Canada pavilions in Epcot’s World Showcase. World ShowPlace The event starts at 6:30PM, and on our visit, the crowd was let in at 6:30PM. (Check-in started at 6:10PM.) It was hot waiting. Very hot. Plan accordingly or time your arrival so that you’re moving inside relatively soon after arrival. Line for Tailgate Tasting Inside, there’s a stage at the front of the room. On that stage is a counter and work space for the chef doing the event’s demo. In our case, this was Chef Cy (who wanted to be sure everyone knew he was a Dallas fan even though he was wearing a Broncos apron!). Tailgate Tasting Stage During our event, there was no screen showing Chef Cy’s work at on the stage, so while he did a great job explaining what he was doing during the demo, we couldn’t SEE what he was doing. We were told the screen and live set-up were supposed to be complete in time for the first Tailgate Tasting, but it wasn’t. When this is in place, it will add a lot to the presentation. Tailgate Tasting Stage Also on stage were the helmets of the four teams being showcased at the event. Before you balk because your team’s helmet isn’t up there: the Tailgate Tasting will focus on teams with Monday Night Football games the night before those games. So yesterday’s event was for the Texans, Saints and Broncos,Raiders. Tailgate Tasting Stage at World ShowPlace The 2019 Tailgate Tasting schedule features 16 weeks of MNF games represented — so plan ahead to catch the week for your team! 2019 Tailgate Tasting Schedule The stage also featured some props and equipment, including the bottles and can for the event’s beverage sampling and a mixer, breadbasket, and more just for looks. Tailgate Tasting Stage at World ShowPlace The host for the Tailgate Tasting was Mark Daniel, whom you may know as the host of Disney’s web series “Inside Disney Parks.” If you’ve ever watched a live feed of a nighttime show in the Parks, you’ve likely heard and seen Mark. We’re happy to report: he seems like a really nice guy, and he kept the event moving in a smooth and lighthearted way. Tailgate Tasting Host In addition to everything happening on the stage, there’s also a cool photo op at the Tailgate Tasting, too! Guests could stand in front of a green screen to get their pictures taken, then choose a background to add to the shot! Photo Opp at Tailgate Tasting Photo Opp at Tailgate Tasting Photo Opp at Tailgate Tasting Table settings for the event were specific to the event and included some helpful tools. Table Setting at Tailgate Tasting There was a Beverage Seminar page for tasting notes. Beverage Tasting Notes And this event included recipes for the three dishes demonstrated by Chef Cy. Recipes from Tailgate Tasting Recipes from Tailgate Tasting Recipes from Tailgate Tasting The souvenir element of our place setting that we alluded to earlier? A team apron to take home! We received the Raiders, but cast members who were on hand to help guests during the Tasting were happy to grab a different apron for guests who wanted the Broncos instead (or vice versa). So speak up if you’re seated at a chair with your rival’s apron! Oakland Raiders Apron Denver Broncos Apron Eats Each place setting at the Tailgate Tasting has a menu, so when you arrive you’ll be able to peruse that and take the menu home to have as a souvenir (or so you can find those drinks to enjoy again at home!). Tailgate Tasting Menu The beverages — in our case Oskar Blues Dale’s Pale Ale, McBride Sisters Chardonnay, and Left Hand Milk Stout — are on display on the front of Chef Cy’s station. Beverages But when you’re seated, your beverage samples are already poured at your seat. The placemat is labeled 1, 2, and 3 so there’s no mixing up your milk stout with your pale ale (kinda hard to do that anyhow), and Chef Cy talks about the pairings as you move through the tasting. Tailgate Tasting Beverages Oskar Blues Dale’s Pale Ale from Longmont, Colorado, was very light tasting and refreshing. It was paired with the Smoked Rocky Mountain Trout Bruschetta. Tailgate Tasting Beverages The Smoked Rocky Mountain Trout Bruschetta was a big surprise hit for us! The fish was not in the least bit fishy and tasted very fresh. It was served with flavorful Tomato Jam that didn’t overwhelm the subtle fish. And the toast was crispy and a great conduit for the trout. Tailgate Tasting Eats The second beverage was the McBride Sisters Chardonnay (out of Oakland). This was crisp and delicious. We didn’t really get the pairing with the hot dog, but we loved the wine on its own. Tailgate Tasting Beverages The Coliseum Dog was our favorite of the three tasting items. Really how can you go wrong with Garlic Mac and Cheese and Chili on a hot dog? It was heavy and satisfying — and as you can see, it was not a sampling portion. We received a full dog topped with tons of mac and chili. Tailgate Tasting Eats In this case, the chili was ground beef-based, which Chef Cy specifically mentioned because, as he said, Disney chili typically is heavy on the beans. (Being a Dallas fan, maybe that was also his ode to Texas chili, which is traditionally just beef.) Tailgate Tasting Eats The Coliseum Dog also came with some jalapenos which, maybe it’s just us, look like a Hidden Mickey. Tailgate Tasting Eats The final beverage of the night was the Left Hand Milk Stout out of Longmont, Colorado. This was really smooth and rich to accompany the event’s dessert item: a cookie! Tailgate Tasting Beverages The Dark Chocolate Cookie with Orange and Blue Chocolate Candies (M&Ms) was a simple but satisfying treat to end the meal. The cookie was chewy and fun to eat. (If you make these at home, feel free to sub in the M&M colors of your choice!) Tailgate Tasting Eats Again, this was a full cookie — more than what we expected the sampling to be. So that was a tasty surprise, too! Tailgate Tasting Eats Overall At $19, the Tailgate Tasting is at least a field goal, if not a touchdown. (If you get your team’s apron, we consider that a successful extra point attempt!) We appreciated the full-size portions of the Coliseum Dog and the Dark Chocolate Cookie, and the Smoked Rocky Mountain Trout Bruschetta was a pleasant surprise. Honestly, that much food alone at Disney would probably cost close to $15 or more, so pairing it with a few tasting drinks, souvenir team aprons, and the “show” itself was a pretty decent deal. We enjoyed the Tailgate Tasting and hope the Food and Wine Festival continues offering a football-focused event for those guests who travel to the World during the season. (Can you handle one more football pun?) So blast your way into the end zone for the Tailgate Tasting to see if it makes you do a victory dance! (Sorry. We had to.) Are you planning to take the ball down field for a TD at the Tailgate Tasting? Let us know with a comment! Related posts: We Tackled the New CHEESE CRAWL at Epcot’s Food and Wine Festival!
