There are PLENTY of Disney witches out there… But, whose fingers are these?! The Evil Queen at the Oogie Boogie Bash Halloween Time in Disneyland is full of treats, merch, and even the Oogie Boogie Bash! Over in Disney California Adventure, though, there’s some double toil and trouble brewing up with a returning snack. The Witch’s Fingers are back again at Carthay Circle Restaurant! While these “lady fingers” have made their creepy, crawly appearance previously, they’re back for this year’s Halloween season! Carthay Circle Restaurant The soft pretzel breadstick “fingers” come with roasted almond “nails” on the ends and a honey butter dipping sauce. Witch’s Fingers Although the Disney witches might be villainesses, the Witch’s Fingers are wickedly delicious! The soft pretzel breadsticks are complemented by the crunch of the roasted almonds. The honey butter melts onto the warm breadsticks, mixing sweet and salty flavors together with just the right balance. Witch’s Fingers You can get your own Witch’s Fingers for $13 before the Annual Passholder discount. Check out more Disneyland Food Reviews Here!! Do any of you remember the Disney Sing-Along Songs videos that were released on VHS starting in 1986 (and later on DVD)? Some of the videos were hosted by Professor Owl, who is the lucky subject of today’s Disney Doodle! In the video series, Professor Owl, encouraged a classroom of little birdies (and viewers watching) to sing along to Disney songs. According to Ashley, if Professor Owl was able to visit a Disney theme park, he’d likely make Walt Disney’s Enchanted Tiki Room his first stop. “I love the Disney Sing-Along Songs videos,” Ashley said. “It’s easy to imagine Professor Owl and his class wanting to sing ‘The Tiki, Tiki, Tiki Room’ together! Nobody wants to experience FOMO…or “fear of missing out”…especially, not DISNEY FOMO! Cinderella Castle There’s so much to see, do, eat, and buy while visiting Disney that it can be really easy to get overwhelmed. How do I know what’s a must-do, and how do I know I’m choosing the RIGHT things?! These are all questions that can shoot through your mind when planning a Disney vacay. But the hard truth is that there is literally NO WAY you can see or do it all when visiting Disney World. There’s simply too much STUFF for that to be possible! So…to help you avoid that awful Disney FOMO, we have come up with eight helpful tips so you can make the most of your vacation. Animal Kingdom’s Asia Pre-Planning 1. Do Your Research Research is one of the most important parts of getting ready for a Disney World vacay. We say it all the time, but you’ve got to read up on what to do while on your trip. (And aren’t you SMART, you’re already doing that?!) Keep checking out DFB (and watch our youtube channel!) so you know what’s worth your $$$ and what you can pass up. Cinderella Castle Research is SUPER useful when trying to figure out which resort hotel to choose, dining reservations to book, and FastPasses to secure. It will also help you create a list of things you KNOW you NEED to see and do visiting the park. Then, you can start laying out your must-do attractions and top priorities! Welcome to the Polynesian Village Resort! If you’re planning your very FIRST Disney vacation — check out these tips! 2. Avoid Overbooking Your Time While planning, prioritize your one or two must-dos in each park and for each day, then give yourself some flexibility. Overplanning and overbooking your time can often leave you 1) exhausted 2) overwhelmed 3) disappointed when you don’t get everything done. Rivers of Light Dessert Party in Animal Kingdom To avoid this, try placing your top dining locations and attractions on your itinerary. Then, leave a little room for extras…like napping, grabbing a fun snack, or swimming in the hotel pool!! And you never know when you’re going to see something NEW that you want to do at the parks. But if you’re already booked to the gills, you won’t have any room to explore and enjoy new options. We also suggest leaving a bit of time for rest and relaxation. Let those feeties take a break, sit down at a relaxed spot like BaseLine Taphouse and sip on a brew, or maybe even take a nap. All of these small moments of rest will help make your overall vacation feel a bit more chill. Want our best tips for chillaxing on your Disney vacay? Check out our video below! 3. Know What You Want In Advance…So You Don’t Miss Out On The Best of the Best Another great tip that will save you lots of time and MONEY is knowing what you want to eat BEFORE you get to Disney! A great way to figure out what snacks and dining locations are worth it is to check out our Disney food reviews. Sunny Side Up Burger at Restaurantosaurus We have reviewed just about EVERYTHING Disney has to offer in order to help make your decisions a little easier. We did the dirty work for you. African Sunshine Cupcake Check out our full Disney World restaurant guide HERE! While You’re There There are a few little tips that you can do to maximize your Disney vacation while at the parks. 4. Go to a Character Meal Instead of Waiting in Line If meeting characters is a priority for your family, be sure to make a few character dining reservations. We suggest this because going to a character meal instead of waiting in lines to meet the characters can actually knock out two birds with one stone…and save you time to do even more fun stuff! Will you be dining with Tigger at Crystal Palace? Instead of waiting in a long line, you’ll be able to chill out in the AC, chow down on some yummy food, and wait as four or five characters come to you!! Ultimately, this will give you the ability to meet a large number of characters in a fraction of the time it would take in the parks. Goofy at Chef Mickey’s Now, keep in mind, there are some characters that can only be met at a meet-and-greet location. A few of these include Mulan, Gaston, and Elena. But if you’re looking to meet more classic characters like the princesses or Mickey and Minnie, then character dining is a great option. Dopey Of course, booking character reservations is where a bit of research and planning comes in because you want to make sure that you are dining at a location with good food and characters that you want to meet. Some of our favorites? Storybook Dining at Artist Point where you can meet Snow White, a couple Dwarfs, and the Evil Queen; and Tusker House in Animal Kingdom where you can meet Mickey and his pals in their safari gear! Daisy Duck at Tusker House Check out our full list of character meals here!! 5. Rope Drop the Parks if You’re a Morning Person If you’re a morning person, plan on rope dropping whatever park you are visiting that day. This means that you get there a few minutes before the park opens so you can be one of the first people inside. WHY get up EARLY when you’re on vacation, you ask? Well, we enjoy doing this because the parks aren’t very crowded (better chance to knock out more of your high-priority attractions) — and the temperatures are typically cooler. Empty Main Street, U.S.A. We also really recommend doing this if you weren’t able to snag a FastPass for a big-ticket attraction like Flight of Passage or Seven Dwarfs Mine Train. Sever Dwarfs Mine Train This will allow you to get into the park and hop on those rides before the massive crowds pour in. Wait times should be lower, giving you the ability to ride more popular attractions in a shorter period of time. Check out more tips to make the most of being an early riser by clicking here 6. Stay in the Parks Late if You’re a Night Owl If you’re not a morning person (SAME!), then plan on staying at the parks late. Often, the park crowds begin to thin out after the fireworks end, so this is when you can expect wait times to reduce a bit. If you were unable to snag a FastPass for, say, Space Mountain or Peter Pan’s Flight, later in the evening should be a good time to hop those. Wait times may also be lower during the fireworks show. So, if you’re ok with skipping the fireworks, you can use that to your advantage as well. Disney World’s Galaxy’s Edge at Night Another great thing to do is to take advantage of those Extra Magic Hours whether they be in the morning or night. Extra Magic Hours are additional hours where the parks remain open for guests staying at a Disney Resort or a few good neighborhood hotels. We loveeee those Extra Magic Hours because the parks really tend to be less crowded during those times. Early Morning Magic at Hollywood Studios Extra Magic Hours change parks and hours daily, so be sure to check your My Disney Experience App for more information. Click here for more tips on making the most of extra magic hours! After Your Vacation 7. Use shopDisney to Your Advantage One big way that most people experience FOMO is seeing everything they DIDN’T DO…right after they have left the parks! People often start thinking, “SHOOT, we didn’t do this.” or “Darn, we didn’t buy that!” Arendelle Aqua Loungeflys It’s OK! Pretty much everyone goes through it. But, there are ways to avoid a bit of this, especially if you are experiencing FOMO over Disney merchandise. Floral Dress Minnie Plush If you realize that you have forgotten to purchase a souvenir, but you’ve already left the park, then take a look at the shop merchandise feature in your My Disney Experience app. This feature will allow you to purchase theme park merchandise straight from your phone! Farewell IllumiNations Ears So, as long as what you’re looking for is on the app, you can get it with no FOMO at all! Instead, you can just purchase what you forgot and carry on. If you don’t spot it on My Disney Experience, take a look shopDisney.com as they tend to have a lot of merchandise from inside the parks as well! Click here to check out all the park goodies available from shopDisney! 8. Check Out the DFB Guide Another great way to avoid the fear of missing out or Disney regret is to plan for your next Disney trip with the DFB Guide. Our guide will provide you with tons of useful information based on our experiences in the parks. This means tips on dining, rides, time management, and more! Click here to check out all the DFB Guide has to offer! What do you do to avoid Disney FOMO? Let us know in the comments below! AHOY THERE MATEYS! Are you ready to set sail on the Seven Seas Lagoon on the hunt for treasure?! (Er, fireworks.) Disney’s Contemporary Resort Then come along with us as we present to you, our review of the Pirates and Pals Fireworks Dessert Voyage at Disney’s Contemporary Resort. Yo-ho, yo-ho a pirate’s life for us! Much like other Disney World dessert parties, the Pirates and Pals Fireworks Dessert Voyage starts off the evening with treats, and ends with a special view of a nighttime spectacular. However, this view of Happily Ever After is unlike any other! But we’re getting ahead of ourselves…let’s start at the beginning. Check-in: The Pirates and Pals Fireworks Dessert Voyage largely takes place at Disney’s Contemporary Resort. Which is precisely where you check in! Pirates and Pals Fireworks Dessert Voyage Check-in The event begins one hour and fifteen minutes before the scheduled fireworks time, and it’s requested you check-in at least 10 minutes prior to the event’s start. Pirates and Pals Fireworks Dessert Party Decor Check-in for the Pirates and Pals Fireworks Dessert Party is on the 2nd floor of the Contemporary. And they’ve brought in some Buccaneer Decor just for the occasion! Pirates and Pals Fireworks Dessert Party Check-in You’ll find a Pirate themed podium where you’ll check-in with a first mate — um, Cast Member. After you’re all taken care of, they’ll give you a boat assignment and bandanna for each member of your crew. Pirates and Pals Fireworks Dessert Party Bandanna and Boat Assignment It’s requested everyone wear the bandanna somewhere on their person as to identify them as part of the crew — so have fun with it! Wear it on your head, your arm, or your neck. We promise your kids will love seeing you get into it! And speaking of kids, if you’ve got little ones (or big ones!) that want to dress up with some pirate gear, you totally can! ARGH! Pirates and Pals Fireworks Dessert Party Activity Table While waiting for everyone to get checked-in, we spotted a cute kids’ activity table! Pirates and Pals Fireworks Dessert Party Coloring Pages On the table, we found crayons, coloring pages, and activity sheets. These are perfect for entertaining small swashbucklers before the event really gets going. Pirates and Pals Fireworks Dessert Party Activity Sheets Dessert Party: Right on schedule we were greeted by a pirate named Patch, who welcomed us into a ballroom themed for the event! Pirates and Pals Fireworks Dessert Party Decor Several standing cocktail tables are scattered around the room, draped with netting and Jolly Roger mats. We also couldn’t help but notice a few chocolate coins on the table! And if this isn’t enough booty for your liking, there’s a whole treasure chest of chocolate coins! Feel free to plunder. Treasure Chest of Gold Coins Also, how cute are these trash cans! A subtle, but enjoyable touch. Pirates and Pals Fireworks Dessert Party Trash Can Anyway, back to snacks! First up, the sweet stuff. We noticed a small cooler stocked with some of our favorite Frozen Goodies. Frozen Treat Cooler Mickey Cookies n’ Cream Ice Cream Sandwich Olaf Strawberry Lemonade Bar No Sugar Added Strawberry Bar There are also non-chilly desserts for the taking as well! Nothing was extraordinarily exciting as far as design went. Perhaps Pirates enjoy the simple pleasures in life… On the line we saw Chocolate Chips Cookies, Chocolate Chip Cookies Mini Cupcakes in both chocolate and vanilla, Mini Cupcakes and decorated Rice Krispie Treats. Rice Krispie Treats Not a fan of the sweets? Never fear matey — there were several savory options available as well. Though, they were about as exciting as the desserts. For example, a treasure chest of salty faves: Popcorn and Pretzels You can also grab some Chips and Salsa, Chips and Salsa or hummus and pita chips. Hummus and Pita Chips There was also an array of individually packed veggies and fruits for the pillaging. Apples and Grapes Bananas Carrots and Ranch Dressing Clearly, the snack selection is geared towards the youngest crew members. Need somethin’ to swallow down yer booty off the snack line? Don’t worry — there are beverages a plenty. Drink up me hearties yo-ho. Pirate Punch On the cold bar, you have your choice of Water, Iced Tea, Apple Juice, and Pirate Punch. Pirate Punch is yet another alias for the infamous POG juice — a refreshing blend of passion fruit, orange, and guava. Hot Drink Bar There’s also a hot beverage bar, complete with to-go cups. We highly recommend getting a cuppa to take with you — don’t forget you’re hitting the high seas soon! Coffee On the hot bar, we found Coffee — regular and decaf — along with extras like honey and flavored syrups. Coffee Additives There is also tea and hot water, should that be your warm poison of choice. Tea Bags and Coffee Additives Hot Water and Lemons Once we fixed a few plates, it was time to dig in! Pirates and Pals Fireworks Dessert Party Plates We tried the savory dishes first. And to be honest, there was nothing exciting about either of the dips. In fact, we’re pretty sure it’s Sabra Brand Hummus and Tostitos Brand Salsa and Chips. Tasty: sure. Exciting or unique: no. Pirates and Pals Fireworks Dessert Party Desserts But of course, at a Dessert Voyage, we’re more into…dessert! The Chocolate Chip Cookie was a good chocolate chip cookie. It was gooey and chewy with fair amounts of chocolate. Not the best cookie we’ve ever had, but not the worst. Chocolate Cupcake The little Cupcakes were actually quite tasty. They were perfect one or two bite-sized portions and were nice and moist. There is a little drop of vanilla icing on both, which was sweet but not overpowering. We enjoyed the Chocolate and Vanilla cupcakes, but we’re giving the slight nod to the chocolate. The combo of the chocolate cupcake and vanilla frosting is more decadent than the vanilla-vanilla in our opinion. But you can’t go wrong! Vanilla Cupcake Lastly, the bite-sized Rice Krispie Treats! They are standard (read: delicious) Disney Rice Krispie Treats, pre-cut into bite-sized squares and topped with a thin layer of vanilla frosting and pirate-colored sprinkles. Rice Krispie Treat Overall, the desserts were incredibly simple, but also well-executed. They weren’t anything unique or exceptional, but they weren’t bad either. As we were eating, a few special guests showed up… Captain Hook and Mr. Smee What’s a pirate party without pirates?! Captain Hook and Mr. Smee joined the room and were available for photos (including PhotoPass!) and autographs. They also mingle with the tables and guests, as time allows. Caption Hook, Patch, and Mr. Smee When it was time to set sail, Patch joined Hook and Smee and chose a small buccaneer to help carry the pirate flag. And then it was time to head to the docks! It’s important to note that rain doesn’t necessarily mean you won’t set sail. As long as it’s just raining (no thunder or lightning), you’ll be handed a poncho and off you go. If inclement weather is going to cancel your cruise, guests are given the choice to rebook based on availability, cancel and receive a refund, or stay for just the party and characters for a 50% refund. Also note, it’s highly recommended to book the Pirates and Pals Fireworks Dessert Voyage in advance by dialing 407-WDW-DINE or on the Official Disney Website. Fireworks Cruise Once we got to the Contemporary boat docks, we spotted our vessel: the Calm Seas. Pirates leading the way to the docks Calms Seas This is where the boat cards we were given at check-in come in handy! They let you know which ship you’re sailing on and which row your crew will be seated on. During our voyage, only one boat was necessary as we had a small gang. But on busy nights, multiple boats will set sail as a fleet. Patch the Pirate Patch the Pirate joined us on the ship and led the entertainment as we began to sail the Seven Seas Lagoon. He led sing-alongs, Disney and pirate trivia, and told horrible (in a good way) pirate jokes. Spoiler alert: most of the answers involve shouting ARRRRRR. Electric Water Pageant While sailing towards the Magic Kingdom, we got the BEST VIEW EVER of the Electric Water Pageant! This was certainly a highlight of our voyage. Electric Water Pageant After the oldest running parade in Walt Disney World sails by, you drop anchor with a gorgeous view of the Walt Disney World Train Station and Cinderella Castle. And now…it’s time for the main event: Happily Ever After FIREWORKS! During our cruise, we saw Magic Kingdom’s normal fireworks spectacular: Happily Ever After. However, during special times of the year, you may be seeing Disney’s Not So Spooky Spectacular or Minnie’s Wonderful Christmastime Fireworks. Happily Ever After The soundtrack is piped into speakers on the boat, and this is truly a breathtaking view of the show. While you can’t see the castle projections very clearly, it’s still a very special way to watch Happily Ever After. Happily Ever After After the fireworks finale, it’s time to cruise back to the Contemporary. Patch led the crew in a few last games, and handed out pirate prizes to the winners! Pirate Prize But there was one surprise left — as we reached the dock, a final guest was waiting for us! Peter Pan It’s Peter Pan! He was waiting on the Contemporary Boat Dock, with Tinker Bell in hand. As we disembarked, Peter led us to a courtyard area. Peter Pan Peter spent a good amount of time talking to each family, before posing for PhotoPass photos and signing autograph books. It was a wonderful surprise and conclusion to a magical evening! Worth It? The Pirates and Pals Fireworks Dessert Voyage is certainly a unique and enjoyable experience. But before we get into the pros and cons, let’s look at the numbers. Currently, the event is $76.44 per adult (ages 10 and up) and $45.66 per child (ages 3 to 9), including tax and gratuity. However, next year the party price will increase, along with the other Magic Kingdom Dessert Parties. Starting February 1, 2020 adults will pay $83.83 and kids $49.87. The biggest pro of the Pirates and Pals Fireworks Dessert Voyage is the incredible view of Happily Ever After. As someone who has seen the fireworks show dozens of times, I was blown away by this unique perspective. That said, if you’ve never seen Happily Ever After before, we’d still recommend getting a good spot on Main Street (or even considering the Tomorrowland Terrace Dessert Party, which is comparable in price.) We also enjoyed the fact that we got to meet THREE characters — including Captain Hook and Mr. Smee who are generally only out for visits on special occasions. The biggest con of the event is the food. The offerings are pretty generic and nothing stands out as a must-eat. We do appreciate the mix of savory and sweet, and to be fair, we’ll never turn down free (well, included) ice cream. Dessert Parties are a great way to splurge or upgrade a Disney vacation or celebrate a special occasion! And for a pirate loving kiddo, or someone who wants to mix it up, the Pirates and Pals Fireworks Dessert Voyage just might be a great choice for your crew. Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party has become a perennial favorite of guests looking to get into the spooky mood (even if it’s only August or September). Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party With villainous on-stage entertainment, an exclusive nighttime parade, specialty eats and candy galore, and a one-of-a-kind fireworks show, it’s easy to see why guests love the Halloween Party so much. But is Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party worth it this year? The 2019 Halloween Party has introduced a few new entertainment options that are a true blast and retained some fun old favorites, too, meaning it might be an exciting time to get your Halloween creep on with Mickey. But the Party is also pricey, late, and exhausting — and that means some families may want to postpone their Magic Kingdom haunting ’til another time. We’re taking a look at some of the variables you’ll want to consider when you decide whether or not to make a go of Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party this year. Why MNSSHP Might Be A GO: New Entertainment at Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party A couple of new entertainment options at the 2019 Halloween Party makes this is a fun year to attend! Disney’s Not-So-Spooky Spectacular We’re starting with the biggest of the new experiences at Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party: Disney’s Not-So-Spooky Spectacular! This brand new fireworks and projections spectacular replaced the 14-year-old HalloWishes, and while we weren’t sure we were ready to say Hallow-bye to HalloWishes, Disney’s Not-So-Spooky Spectacular is awesome! Disney’s Not-So-Spooky Spectacular The show is hosted by Jack Skellington and incorporates villains and Mickey and the gang as well as seriously stunning projections. It’s truly not to be missed! Catch it at 10:15PM during the Party! Jack is the Master of Ceremonies Boo-To-You Halloween Parade This year’s Boo-To-You Halloween Parade — which runs at 9:15PM and 11:15PM during the Party — added a few new segments! The first is a fun and colorful collection of Tomorrowland favorites including Buzz Lightyear, Elastigirl, and Mr. Incredible! Buzz Lightyear is accompanied by those little green Aliens (no Claw in sight). If you look closely ahead of the float, you’ll see Edna Mode holding court! Toy Story Float And Elastigirl took the night off from superheroine duty to wave to her adoring fans. Swoon! Incredibles Float We loved these new additions to Boo-To-You, but if we’re being fully honest, it paled in comparison to the other new addition: the Haunted Mansion segment included the Spectral Bride this year! Spectral Bride in the Haunted Mansion Segment We’ve always loved the gravedigger portion of the Parade, where they create sparks and spooky clangs with their metal shovels… Haunted Mansion Segment …but the Haunted Mansion additions gave us chills. The bride is creepy and cool at the same time! Haunted Mansion Segment The Spectral Bride really appeared to float as ghostly dancers twirled around her. This is one unique parade you don’t want to miss, friends! New Attraction Overlay This year, Monsters Inc. got a brand new attraction overlay! The Laugh Floor has been turned into a trick-or-treat trail, where guests get candy at the beginning and end of the show! In the middle of it all, take a load off and relax while monsters ad lib and improve directly with the audience! Monsters Inc Laugh Floor Trick Or Treat Trail It’s super cute, and a great way to get some A/C and a seat for a while. Plus those monsters are SO talented! Click here for more on the NEW Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party offerings! New Party-Exclusive Treats! We’re not saying you should go to Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party just for the Party-exclusive treats, but we’re not saying that’s a bad idea either!!! Our favorite treat from a thematic standpoint this year is Constance’s For Better or For Worse Wedding Cake — a teeny tiny personal wedding cake complete with an axe topper! It’s beyond fabulous. Read our full review of this treat here! Constance’s For Better For Worse Wedding Cake Pumpkin fans will want to stop in at the always-on-trend for Halloween Sleepy Hollow where there are two Party-exclusive pumpkin-y treats: the Headless Horseman Cheesecake (basically Pumpkin Mousse) and the Mickey Waffle Sundae (with Pumpkin Gelato!!). Headless Horseman Pumpkin Cheesecake To check out ALL the Halloween Party-exclusive treats AND the all-day Halloween treats at Magic Kingdom, click here! Old Favorites at Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party In addition to the new entertainment and food, Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party retained some compelling old favorites, not the least of which is Halloween-inspired attraction overlays! We love the colorful lighting and spooky tunes added to the Mad Tea Party… Mad Tea Party Overlay …real, live swashbucklers on Pirates of the Caribbean… Live Pirate from Pirates of the Caribbean …and an entirely-in-the-dark flight on Space Mountain complete with themed music! Space Mountain And if it’s wrong to love the Hocus Pocus Villains Spelltacular, we don’t want to be right. Something about those Sanderson Sisters keeps us comin’ back year after year. It’s almost like they’ve… cast a spell on us! Hocus Pocus Villains Spelltacular Click here to read about 12 things you didn’t know you could do at Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party! Spooky New Extras In addition to new entertainment and food and fun attractions overlays, there are a few more reasons the Not-So-Scary Halloween Party might be a good option for you this year in particular. Halloween Party Pass If you were lucky enough to snag the Halloween Party Pass for the short window it was available, you could visit as many parties this year as you like, except for Halloween night. That’s a LOT of trick-or-treat candy!!! Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party The pass was available for $299 for adults or $284 for kids 3-9, but sadly, they are no longer available. We’re keeping our eyes peeled for next year though! Read more about this limited release pass here! Cruella’s Halloween Hide-A-Way Additionally, if you’re all about that De Vil life, there’s a Party add-on called Cruella’s Halloween Hide-A-Way that you might want to consider. The Hide-A-Way is hosted at Tony’s Town Square Restaurant, and aside from the tasty Italian-inspired eats, you’ll also get to have a run-in (or two or three!) with the lady herself and score reserved viewing for the Boo-To-You Parade. Hi Cruella!! Plus you can come and go as you please and eat and drink all-you-care-to-enjoy! This separate party does NOT come cheap — it costs $99 per guest ON TOP of your Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party ticket! But if you have the means, it can be a great spot to call home base for much of the party. See our review here to decide if Cruella’s Halloween Hide-A-Way makes the Party even sweeter! So Why Might the Party NOT be a Good Fit for You?? Of course, what works for some doesn’t work for others, and there are some variables that might make the Halloween Party not quite right for your family. Price Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party tickets start at $79 for adults and $74 for kids 3-9 with prices varying depending on the date of each Party. As you get closer to Halloween, prices start over $100. For a family of three or more, that’s pretty expensive for a handful of exclusive hours in the park…even if it does include all the candy you could ever eat. Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party Late Night Fun (or Not) The other drawback for families with young kids is the timing of the Halloween Party. Starting at 7PM with entrance to the park as early as 4PM, and going through midnight or later, the Halloween Party is perfect for night owls… and not so great for kids with bedtimes. Remember, even if you use your ticket to get in to Magic Kingdom at 4PM, the party fun doesn’t begin until 7PM. So, if maintaining some semblance of a sleep schedule while in the World is important to you, Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party might be a pass for your family. Little ones might need to make an early exit… Does that mean you’re doomed to miss all the fun? Not necessarily. If you find a sitter or have an adult family member traveling with you who’s willing to stay in with the kids, the grown-ups (and older kids) can still enjoy the Halloween Party. But that will require some forethought and planning, so start scheming now! Attractions Aren’t the Star For You If you’re an attraction fiend and not into stage shows and fireworks spectaculars, it may go without saying that the Halloween Party might not be worth it to you. While most attractions are open, wait times are still a little extensive in some cases (we regularly saw Space Mountain over an hour wait during our time at the Party this year), and you could spend the whole Party time waiting in line for a handful of rides. Haunted Mansion is perfectly Halloweeny! The overlays are admittedly fun, but otherwise, the ride and attraction situation isn’t the focus of the Party, and you’re likely better off hitting up Magic Kingdom during regular hours or trying to reserve a ticket for an After Hours event. If you want to learn more about how After Hours can help you ride all the rides on your list, click here! What we’re saying is: there’s tons to do at Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party, but some of the logistics just aren’t right for everyone. You’ll want to consider all of these factors before deciding if the Party is worth it for you. Want to know more about Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party? Check out DFB’s ULTIMATE GUIDE here! Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party is in full swing in Disney World! Amuck Cupcake With all the tricks, treats, merch, and MORE available in the parks for the event right now, Halloween is easily one of our favorite times of the year. But, somehow, our DFB readers can make spooky season even better with the help of a few adorable snacks! Thanks to the Weiss family on Instagram who tagged us to take a peek at their treat themed costumes for Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party this year. (There’s nothing butter than this, you guys!) Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party While we give PLENTY of food reviews here at DFB, it’s only fitting that these snacks get their own article! We have to say that this hot dog was doggone adorable, while the popcorn‘s outfit was definitely poppin’ and stylish. And, we can’t forget the sweet lollipop that tied the whole ensemble together! And of course, in this case, they’re all on the Disney Dining Plan. We have to say that we would totally use some snack credits on this bunch! Disney California Adventure’s Oogie Boogie Bash — A Disney Halloween Party officially kicked off THIS WEEK. And though all of the parties are sold out… we had the opportunity to check out all of the spooktacular NEW and returning offerings — and it’s SO. FUN! Oogie Boogie Bash I’m not gonna lie, this party was pretty incredible. So, grab a candy bar…or two and get ready for all the NEED to KNOW details about DCA’s Oogie Boogie Bash. The party was filled with SO many different meet-and-greets, shows, and snacks, that it felt impossible to see or to do it all. Honestly, we felt like we could have used another solid hour or two! Oogie Boogie Bash But, heck we’re not complaining. The event kept us entertained and we really enjoyed the shows and interactions that we were able to watch or be a part of. Shows and Events Villainous! The new “World of Color” show, known as Villainous! shares the tale of Shelley Marie. Shelley is a young girl trying to make a decision about what Halloween costume she should wear this year. She begins to wonder if she could be as unique and independent as her favorite Disney characters. Shelley This ultimately takes Shelley on a fun and unforgettable journey where she meets a slew of Disney villains, ultimately showing guests that there’s a little villain in all of us. Villainous! The show is filled with wonderful music, water, projections, FIRE, lights, and so much more. Villainous! Now…note that there are two showings of Villainous! The first is VERY crowded, while the second show tends to have fewer viewers. Villainous! So it might make sense to do all the OTHER fun stuff first, then watch Villainous during the later show to avoid the crowds. Read more about Villainous here! Villains Grove Villains Grove was a highlight of our Oogie Boogie Bash experience. This is pretty much a maze with different projections and themes throughout. Villains Grove Sign The maze is filled with different villainous scenes and each one is presented through lights, projection, etc. The overall effect was STUNNING. We loved getting lost in each scene and feeling as if we had been transported into another film. Cheshire Cat We were so happy that this experience felt laid back and relaxed. No one is there to really rush you through it, so take your time and enjoy! Queen of Hearts There was a LONG line to get in for this one. So you may want to knock it out at the beginning of the night if this is one of your priorities. Read more about the Villains Grove maze here! Trick-or-Treat Trails This year, Disney introduced an interactive element to their trick or treat trails by adding in Disney villains. These villains will sing, dance, and even chat with you on the rare occasion. Though villains have been added, they did not act in a menacing way…so no worries if you have little ones! We still thought it was very family-friendly. Dr. Facilier There are five interactive treat trails and each one features a different Disney villain. This year, the treat trails were hosted by Dr. Facilier, Oogie Boogie, The Mad Hatter (not really a villain, but okay), Evil Queen, and Maleficient. Mad Hatter The sets created for each of the villains was phenomenal and really made it feel as if you were a part of their story. Oogie Boogie We found that it was a hit or miss when it came to lines. Some of the lines were very long for the treat trails, while others were pretty short. (Often at the beginning of the evening lines are SUPER long; then, once everyone’s filled their candy bags, lines get shorter.) But, since you never really know what to expect, be sure to plan flexibly enough to leave if the line’s too long and come back later. Maleficent Sadly, we felt a little rushed while on some of the treat trails. We were really hoping to interact more with the characters, but the Cast Members were really keeping the flow of the lines moving. I mean, how many times do you have the chance to talk to Oogie Boogie or The Mad Hatter? The Evil Queen While we felt a bit rushed on the treat trails, we felt like they provided us with an ample amount of candy! Like bags and bags full of candy! Trick or Treat Bags With CANDY! So, if you’re looking for immersion, villains, AND candy, then this should definitely go on your must-do list. Read more about the Oogie Boogie Treat Trails here! The DescenDANCE Party DescenDANCE Party, which is also making a beat at Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party in Disney World, was a fun new addition here as well. DescenDANCE Party Showtimes The show starts with a spell, which summons the dance crew from the Isle of the Lost! These dancers lead everyone in moves set to songs from the Descendants films and they will encourage the crowd to dance and sing along. DescenDANCE Party Once the dance crew is summoned back, the Backlot DJ keeps the party going with some poppin’ music! DescenDANCE Party While we felt a little out of place, we think that this would be a great thing for the little ones. It’s very lighthearted and is a good option, especially if villains freak out your kiddos. DescenDANCE Party We checked out the very first dance party and it seemed to be pretty empty. If you’re looking for more people to dance around with, we suggest going to a later show! Frightfully Fun Parade The “Frightfully Fun Parade” has moved from Disneyland and is now taking over Disney California Adventure. Frightfully Fun Parade We always love Disney’s incredible attention to detail within the parade. Each float and section feels well thought out and makes it feel like a bit of each film portrayed has come to life before you. The Mayor of Halloween Town Our hearts seem to skip a beat when the evil sea witch herself takes to the street. Ursula We also loved seeing Disney’s newest addition to the Frightfully Fun Parade — Cheshire, finish the parade off. Cheshire Cat This is a nice option for those of you who are looking to take a break. Sit, stand, or chill for a bit and just take in the sights and magic that Disney has to offer with this one! Jack and Sally The streets can fill up pretty fast, so if you’re looking to sit down, you may want to snag a spot early. Read all about Disney’s Frightfully Fun Parade here! Mickey’s Trick and Treat Show An addition that really surprised us was Mickey’s Trick and Treat Show. While we thought that this would be aimed more at the little ones, Mickey and his pals had us up and dancing from the start! Mickey’s Trick & Treat Party Showtimes The show only lasted 15 minutes, but it was filled with dancing, laughter, and a few Halloween stories. And the best part? The candy given to us at the end!! Mickey’s Trick & Treat Show Even if you don’t have little ones we suggest checking out this lighthearted and fun show. You can catch it five times throughout the night at the Disney Theatre in Hollywood Land. Mickey’s Trick & Treat Show Read all about Mickey’s Trick and Treat Show here!! Carthay Circle Halloween Magic As you maneuver your way throughout Disney California Adventure you may want to take the time to stop by Carthay Circle. Carthay Circle at Oogie Boogie Bash The building is being brought to life throughout the night with incredible projections of bats, lightning, and so much more! Carthay Circle While this little show is simple, we thought it was rather spellbinding. Carthay Circle at Oogie Boogie Bash Get a peek at the Carthay Circle projections here! Character Meet and Greets Villain and rare character lovers GET READY. We had the opportunity to see and meet so many different characters that we hardly ever see around the parks. Gong Li While trick-or-treating our way around Oogie Boogie Bash, we happened to see some spelltacular Disney friends. Many of which we weren’t expecting! Claude Frollo We saw Claude Frollo, Gong Li, Ron Stoppable and Kim Possible. Ron Stoppable and Kim Possible And Kingdom Hearts lovers, both Donald and Goofy were seen meeting in their Kingdom Hearts gear!! We found that this line could get pretty long, so plan accordingly! Kingdom Hearts Goofy We also spotted Governor Ratcliffe, Prince John, the Sheriff of Nottingham, and MORE. Donald! Honestly, we were impressed with the characters that are meeting this year. But the rare character lines were LONG, so be prepared my if you’re wanting to get those pics! Merchandise A BUNCH of merchandise was released for this new event. New Oogie Boogie sipper! We already shared that you can get the Oogie Boogie Ears and the Oogie Boogie Sipper throughout the Disney California Adventure, even if you aren’t attending the party. Oogie Boogie Bash Ears You can also get the ever so spooky Oogie Boogie Popcorn bucket! This thing is pretty stinkin’ rad; I mean his devilish eyes even light up! You can view ALL of the Halloween popcorn buckets at Disney World and Disneyland here. Oogie Boogie and Purple Cauldron Popcorn Bucket This is just a glimpse of all of the fun and unique Oogie Boogie Bash merchandise you can get — check out ALL of the merch here! Treats My Bugs! My Bugs! Spooky season at Disneyland Resort also calls for TREATS. A few of our favorite Oogie Boogie-themed treats this year are the My Bugs! My Bugs! drink, the Oogie Boogie Cake Pop, and the Oogie Boogie Churro. And the great news?! These are available throughout the Halloween season, so you don’t need a party ticket to try them out. My Bugs! My Bugs! My Bugs! My Bugs! is a non-alcoholic drink that can be found at Hollywood Lounge. This is a limeade slush swirled with cherry syrup and adorable wiggly gummy worms for $5.99. My Bugs! My Bugs! You can read our full My Bugs! My Bugs! review here! Oogie Boogie Cake Pop The Oogie Boogie Cake Pop ($5.49) can be found at Trolley Treats. This little guy isn’t filled with bugs; instead, he’s filled with vanilla cake! Oogie Boogie Cake Pop We love the bright green color and the attention to detail! Oogie Boogie Cake Pop Check out our full Oogie Boogie Cake Pop review here! Oogie Worms and Dirt Funnel Cake And perfect for the little ones is the Oogie Worms and Dirt Funnel Cake. These funnel cake fries, which can be found at Award Wieners for $8.99, are topped with crushed chocolate creme-filled cookies, cream cheese sauce, cookie pieces, gummy candies, chocolate-coated candies, and whipped cream. Oogie Worms and Dirt Funnel Cake Fries These are sweet, messy, and yummy if you like you’re a sucker for funnel cake fries. Take a peek at our sweet Oogie Boogie Worms and Dirt Funnel Cake review here! And if you’re looking for MORE Halloween Time treats that will be available throughout the season, you can check them all out here!! We really think that Oogie Boogie Bash is a great option if you love Disney villains and if you’re looking to load up on some candy. The shows and the character offerings really did blow us away and we think that it has the potential to be a lot of fun for the whole family. Oogie Boogie I’d avoid Oogie Boogie Bash if you have little ones who have an early bedtime, or get tired out quickly…because it really was a go-go-go to see it all kind of event. Also, if you’ve got kiddos who are afraid of the villains, they were pretty much everywhere, so they’re pretty difficult to avoid. Though, Mickey’s Trick and Treat Show and the DescenDANCE Party were villain free! Overall, this is a really fun addition to Halloween Time in Disneyland Resort! And remember for next year — get your tickets EARLY if you’d like to go! All dates are sold out for this year at the moment. Join the DFB Newsletter to get all the breaking news right in your inbox! No matter how prepared you think you are for your Disney vacation, you’re still likely to face a setback or two (or three… or four…) while staying at Disney World. Cinderella Castle Don’t panic– these things happen to almost everybody! Here’s our best advice for dealing with a few of the most annoying — but still SOLVABLE — problems you might face when visiting the parks! The line is too long for food… Unless you’re eating all of your meals at odd times of the day, you’re probably going to face the feeding frenzy of crowded counter-service restaurants. These places can get a little crazy during lunch and dinner time rushes, and this is where Mobile Order will become your new BFFF (Best FOOD Friend Forever!). You’re going to want to avoid lines like these with mobile order! A number of quick-service restaurants throughout Disney World have this feature enabled on the My Disney Experience app –– some even offer secret menu items only available to the app’s users! Mobile Ordering at Contempo Cafe Once you make your selections, you can prepay for your food through the app by using a credit card or even an applicable Disney Dining Plan credit. Simply tap the “I’m Here” button in the app to let the kitchen know it’s time to start prepping your meal. Mobile Order Screenshot Believe it or not, Mobile Order is still highly underutilized around the parks! Many locations will have a loooooong line for food, but the Mobile Order pickup window is right there and empty! Don’t wait in those lines — do what the pros do and hit up Mobile Order! Read ALL About Mobile Order — and See Where You Can Use It! — HERE Phone’s dead… After a long day of posting pics and sending selfies to your friends and family back home your phone’s battery is officially DOA. Here’s how to get a quick re-charge in time for that parade or fireworks — look for a Fuel Rod Charger Station! Fuel Rod Portable Charger Station These vending machines are located throughout the parks and resorts, and if you can’t find one on your own, ask a friendly Cast Member! Fuel Rods are portable chargers for all of your electronic devices — the full kit including multiple charging cables for various iPhone or micro USB Android devices is $30. Don’t Let Your Phone Die in the Parks! When your Fuel Rod is depleted, simply recharge it or swap it out with a new one at any location on property for FREE! Fuel Rods AREN’T exclusive to Disney World, so you may want to pick one up at the mall or at the airport before your flight. And here’s a DFB TIP: Fuel Rods are actually LESS expensive in most other locations — including the Fuel Rod website — than they are at Disney World (by about $10), so if you’re thinking you’ll be using Fuel Rods throughout your vacation, pick one up before you go and save some dough. Oh no! It broke! So you just shelled out some big bucks on a Disney World light-up toy or bubble wand, but it went kaput faster than you can say “Mickey Mouse.” Or maybe that Mickey Premium Bar that was in your kid’s hand a second ago is now melting on the pavement. What can you do?? A classic Mickey Premium Ice Cream Bar! Simply head to where you purchased the item (or another location that sells the same thing) and a Cast Member will likely replace the item or snack for you, no questions asked! This is especially true with spilled or dropped foods — accidents happen! One of our DFB team members had to have an expensive lemonade drink and a churro replaced one right after the other when her child dropped them, and the sweet cast members were extra-kind about it — even kindly hugging her crying kiddo. Cast Members will exchange most merchandise purchases as well, but it’s always good to keep a receipt for the item handy just in case. If pre-loaded batteries die (especially in mini-fans), sometimes Cast Members will even help you replace them. Mickey’s 90th Glow Wand But keep in mind if you run out of those darn bubbles for the bubble wands, they’ll likely point you to available refills for purchase, so no freebies there. In the event a souvenir suffers an untimely demise by your own hands, be it an ornament or mug shattering in your backpack after one-to-many dips on Space Mountain, return to the place where you purchased the item and explain what happened. In most situations, the Cast Members will exchange the item if they can, but it’s not a guarantee (don’t go breaking all your goodies just to test the theory!). So many mugs, so little time… Consider Package Delivery! If you want to ensure your items make it to your resort safely and you’re staying on property, consider using Disney’s package delivery service to send your items to your Disney Resort for free. You need to be staying at your resort at least 2 nights beyond when you purchase the items so they’ll have time to get to you. Not enough time? Consider having them sent to the front of the park you’re in instead and pick them up on your way out. Lose something? Hey, we get it — it’s hard to keep tabs on all of your stuff at Disney World! If you ever misplace an item while visiting the Parks (like when I left my sunglasses in the pouch on Slinky Dog Dash!), riding the bus or monorail, or staying at a Disney Resort, you’ll want to reach out to Guest Services. Grab your valuables before getting off the bus! They’ll likely direct you to the Disney World website to fill out a report, or you can go directly to www.chargerback.com/disneyworld. Through this process, you’ll get regular updates on the search for your item, and if found, Disney will send it to your home! The chargerback website covers anything and everything lost on Disney property except for on the Magical Express. If you lost something on your ride to or from the airport, you’ll want to call 866-599-0951. Dude, where’s our car? What if the thing you lost was something bigger…like your car! Don’t worry, the parking Cast Members got your six! With so many cars filing into those giant lots each day, this happens more than you’d imagine! Hollywood Studios parking lot Simply tell a Cast Member about your dilemma. The staff keeps detailed logs of when each section and row was filled, so they’ll need to know approximately what time you recall parking. Epcot Tram To potentially avoid this problem altogether, consider snapping a quick pic of the nearest parking lot sign before you head off from your car that day. BONUS TIP: If you experience car trouble while in a Disney parking lot, a cast member can help you find a good solution — whether that’s contacting a service or calling a Minnie Van. Don’t forget that Disney World does have a Car Care Center near the Magic Kingdom, where you can deal with vehicular issues of many kinds as well as rent a car as needed. I’m running late! Whether it’s crowds, slow or stuck transportation, getting stuck in line, or a zillion other possible obstacles, it is REALLY easy to find yourself running late at Disney World. If you’re already running late for your next adventure, what can you do to salvage those FastPasses or reservations? Fastpass Entrance for Splash Mountain For FastPasses, there’s usually a 15-minute grace period after your return window closes that you can still ride. STILL not going to make it in time? Open up your My Disney Experience app on your phone and modify the FastPass before your return window closes to another attraction at a later time. If all else fails, do someone a solid and cancel your FastPass — you never know who’s day you might make by freeing up a FastPass they were looking for! Sci-Fi Dine-In If you’re late for a dining reservation, you can try to modify the reservation time on the My Disney Experience app. Keep in mind that if you cancel a reservation within 24 hours, you’ll incur a fee. If you’re running a few minutes late, you can always call Disney’s reservation system and try to speak to someone who can help — or better yet, possibly connect you to the restaurant to see what they can do. Restaurants typically allow a 15 minute grace period on Dining Reservations as well, but milage may vary. Next time you find yourself in a sticky situation while on your Disney vacay, don’t panic! There’s often a quick, simple solution that will keep your trip to the Happiest Place on Earth on track! For even more great solutions to everyday problems at the Parks, check out our video below! Lock, Shock, and Barrel might be up to some tricks, but you can get ALL the treats on these Oogie Boogie Bash Trick or Treat Trails! Oogie Boogie Bash Overlay While dressing up in your favorite character might be your favorite part of Halloween Time in Disneyland, the candy is definitely one of ours. And, these five famous villains are serving up some ghoulish goodies for the swingin’ event in Disney California Adventure. The Oogie Boogie Bash is terrifying guests with their merch, eats and treats, entertainment, and MORE! But, we were ready to travel down the rabbit hole and through these Trick or Treat Trails to gather as much candy as possible (stay tuned: we had A LOT). Trick or Treat Trails Station Before we got some hot-and-cold running chills from our inevitable sugar rush, we grabbed our Trick or Treat bags — complete with the gorgeous Frozen 2 poster — maps, and event guides so we weren’t late for our very important date. Trick or Treat Bags, Map, And Event Guide Located at the Hyperion Theater Courtyard… Mad Hatter Trail The Mad Hatter had us cackling with his witty (and slightly cooky) commentary! Mad Hatter Trail After asking guests’ names so he knew who to add to his ever-growing list of hat customers… Mad Hatter Trail … He made sure to offer his services to everyone at the party by asking what our head circumferences were. Mad Hatter Trail He specifically told us he was really feeling the color red that night (it’s a good thing red is totally our color). Mad Hatter Trail After collecting our candy (no “Drink Me” Bottles and “Eat Me” Cakes here, friends!), we made our way to our next sinister stop at Stage 17 to visit Dr. Facilier. Dr. Facilier Trail Once we entered his voodoo lair, he asked us, “Does anybody here need a change or a transformation perhaps?” Dr. Facilier Trail With all the voodoo cards and skulls scattered around, we had a feeling that probably wouldn’t be the best idea. We didn’t feel like getting turned into frogs tbh. Dr. Facilier Trail He gave us all the deets about his friends on the other side and how they could make our Halloween a little more spooky. Dr. Facilier Trail Before leaving, he made sure to tell us, “When you head to this next trail here, bring me something a little extra!” (Little did he know that we planned on eating our entire bag of candy ourselves.) Dr. Facilier Trail Well, well, well… What have we here? Oogie Boogie?? Ooh, we’re really scared!! Oogie Boogie Trail At the Disney Animation Courtyard, Oogie Boogie was flipping the switch from silly to scary as he welcomed everyone to his party. ‘Cause after all, it was the Oogie Boogie Bash, y’know. Oogie Boogie Trail He assured us that there was enough candy for everyone before giving us the song and dance about Halloween Town, Jack Skellington, and even his bugs. Oogie Boogie Trail While the screens around were filled with casino-style slot machines, the really horrifying game was deciding if Oogie Boogie was the most terrifying villain of the night Oogie Boogie Trail (He was the host with the most, though!) Oogie Boogie Trail Finishing our candy trails off, we stopped at Grizzly Peak Mountain Road to catch the “natural beauty,” the Evil Queen. Evil Queen Trail While she asserted that “Now, you’ve come to the best part of the party… Getting to see my face!” while reading from her spellbook… Evil Queen Trail We were a bit more intrigued about what she was cookin’ up in that big cauldron. (Kinda hoping it was a pot of Ghoulish Delight ngl.) Evil Queen Trail Right next to the Evil Queen was another villainess who haunted us with her horns and flowing cape at Grizzly Peak Airfield. Maleficent Trail Maleficent greeted us by calling us her pets before wondering, “Have you come all this way just to gawk at me in all my glory?” Maleficent Trail Um, yes, we definitely did because Maleficent looked FABULOUS!! Buuut, we were also there for the candy. (Just don’t tell her that.) Maleficent Trail While the Oogie Boogie Bash Trick or Treat Trails were ah-mazing in theory, they were sort of a hit or miss with interaction. You couldn’t stop and chat with characters since you were rushed through the lines, making it difficult to personally interact with the villains. Cast Members Dressed in Their Oogie Boogie Bash Costumes However, even with all the rushing around, the lines varied in length. Some were very long, and others only took a few minutes. Yet, we still LOVED seeing the characters out in a new way where they were able to actually talk to you, letting you in on all their sinister secrets. Beginning of the Oogie Boogie Trail Obviously, our favorite part was the CRAZY amount of candy you get at the end of these trails. Our bags were completely full when we finished off our walks (which was totally fine by us). So, if you’re looking for some treats without having to actually buy anything in the park, you’ll want to go for a stroll on the Trick or Treat Trails for FREE candy! Trick or Treat Bags With CANDY! Just be careful not to eat any poison apples. Hello, there friends! It’s officially spooky season in Disneyland Resort, as the NEW (and already sold out!) Oogie Boogie Bash Sign We’ve already told you all about the new Treat Trails — which you can learn about here! Now we want to chat about all the new entertainment offerings we experienced at the party, from parades to shows and everything in between. There’s a lot to unpack, so let’s dive in! Shows and Events Villainous! Villainous!, the new “World of Color” show located in the Paradise Bay area of DCA, tells the tale of Shelley Marie, a young girl on an unforgettable journey. The show is filled with fountains, lights, lasers, projections, and special effects. The show describes that deep down, there may be a little villain in all of us! Shelly Marie — and Oogie Boogie! During the show, the Pixar Pal-A-Round lit up in different colors, so we could spot Mickey’s face throughout the nighttime spectacular! Villainous! Since the emphasis of the show is, of course, Disney villains, we weren’t surprised to spot Dr. Facilier… Dr. Facilier in Villainous! …and The Evil Queen’s Magic Mirror! Magic Mirror in Villainous! And we were jazzed to see the man of the hour himself — Oogie Boogie. Oogie Boogie in Villainous! Honestly, we’re interested to find out what you guys think of this new show! For us, it was…interesting. The show itself starts off in a very lighthearted and fun way, but gets weirder and weirder as the story progresses! Villainous! The lighting and special effects were very impressive, though, so we still recommend checking out Villainous! It was catchy and featured lots of fire and water as well. If you are able to do so, we recommend catching the second show at 10:45 as the 9:00 show got very crowded. Villainous! Villains Grove During Oogie Boogie Bash, the Redwood Creek Challenge Trail transforms into Villains Grove. Here, guests enter the delightfully spooky world of Disney villains. Villains Grove Sign You do NOT want to miss Villains Grove! It’s a maze with a variety of projections and themes. Thankfully, they don’t rush you through most of it, so be sure to take your time. Honestly, we would’ve loved to go through it again! Villains Grove While we were walking through Villains Grove, we felt like we were in Pandora at night. And that is not a bad thing! Villains Grove Several characters are spread throughout Villains Grove, including the Cheshire Cat… Cheshire Cat …and the Queen of Hearts! Queen of Hearts While it’s a bit spooky, Villains Grove is still great for the whole family and not to be missed! Villains Grove The DescenDANCE Party The DescenDANCEParty — which is also part of Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party in Walt Disney World —features the greatest dance crew from the Isle of the Lost. DescenDANCE Party Showtimes The show begins with a spell, which summons the dance crew from the Isle of the Lost! These dancers lead everyone in moves set to songs from the Descendants films. After the dance crew is summoned back, the Backlot DJ keeps the party going with fun upbeat music! DescenDANCE Party We honestly felt a bit out of place during this party, but if your kiddos enjoy the popular Disney Channel movies, they’re sure to enjoy this high-energy party! DescenDANCE Party Frightfully Fun Parade The fan-favorite “Frightfully Fun Parade” from Disneyland has taken over Disney California Adventure for the first time! Frightfully Fun Parade During Oogie Boogie Bash, we spotted none other than Mickey and Minnie dressed in their Halloween Time finery. Aren’t they the cutest?? It’s Mickey and Minnie! We were totally spooked by Ursula, who made a wonderfully menacing part of the parade. Ursula We’re always glad to see the Headless Horseman in the Frightfully Fun Parade! As far as we’re concerned, no one makes an entrance quite like him. Headless Horseman Our favorite residents of Halloween Town took part in the parade as well, including the Mayor of Halloween Town… The Mayor of Halloween Town …and Sally and Jack Skellington, of course! Jack Skellington and Sally We couldn’t possibly forget the Haunted Mansion float, which features none other than the Hatbox Ghost and Gus! The Haunted Mansion Float Hades fans, you’re in luck! He is front-and-center during the Frightfully Fun Parade. Hades Also featured prominently is The Evil Queen herself, who works steadily over her bubbling cauldron. Hopefully, she’s not trying to poison us! The Evil Queen and her Cauldron A new addition to the parade is the Cheshire Cat! We’re so glad he and his mischievous smile are part of Oogie Boogie Bash. Cheshire Cat We love this parade and we’re so glad it’s part of the Oogie Boogie Bash festivities. You can catch the parade at 8:10 PM, and you can spot the Headless Horseman before the parade begins at 8:00! Mickey’s Trick and Treat Show Mickey’s Trick and Treat Show has also made its way to DCA for the first time! The show features Mickey, dancers, Halloween stories, and candy, of course! You’ll find this show at the Disney Theatre in Hollywood Land. Mickey’s Trick & Treat Party Showtimes This was a really cute show and had us dancing while we watched it! It’s only 15 minutes long and fun for all ages. PLUS, we got even MORE candy at the end of the show. Mickey’s Trick & Treat Show During the show, we spotted Minnie, Mickey, Donald, AND Goofy! Mickey’s Trick & Treat Show You can catch this show several times throughout the evening and we’d recommend taking a bit of time to see it! Mickey’s Trick & Treat Show Carthay Circle Halloween Magic We just so happened to spot some intriguing new effects on the outside of Carthay Circle. And they were so cool, people! Carthay Circle at Oogie Boogie Bash We noticed swarming bats, green lighting, and even more transformative displays! Carthay Circle at Oogie Boogie Bash Can you spot the bolts of lightning on the building? Just so cool. Carthay Circle at Oogie Boogie Bash Character Encounters We couldn’t possibly forget about the awesome character meet-and-greets you’ll find at Oogie Boogie Bash! We found a variety of beloved villains and Disney characters around the park, including Claude Frollo… Claude Frollo …Maleficent… Maleficent …and Gong Li! Gong Li If you grew up watching the Disney Channel in the early 2000s, you NEED to take the time to meet Ron Stoppable and Kim Possible at Oogie Boogie Bash! Ron Stoppable and Kim Possible We couldn’t help but snap a few photos when we saw Donald Duck… Donald! …and Goofy! Goofy The lines appeared to be LONG for the special characters during Oogie Boogie Bash. We were lucky to walk by while the lines were fairly short so we were able to snap a few photos, but if you want to meet a certain character, be prepared to line up early and/or wait a while! Overall Thoughts WOW, there’s a lot to experience at Oogie Boogie Bash! If you were able to snag a ticket to this year’s event, your in for a wonderful time! There were tons to do and see, but just know there is no way to get everything squeezed in. We felt like we were running around the entire night. Our favorite part was the Villains Grove section by far! Overall, we loved the Oogie Boogie Bash and its entertainment offerings, but we would’ve just enjoyed a couple more hours. Recently, cast members from Disney’s Hollywood Studios were treated to a surprise sneak peek of the progress underway at the Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway attraction – by none other than Disney Parks, Experiences & Products Chairman Bob Chapek himself! The attraction, which will open at Disney’s Hollywood Studios in spring 2020, will put guests inside the unpredictable world of Disney Channel’s Emmy® Award-winning “Mickey Mouse” cartoon shorts. Once they step into the cartoon world of Mickey and Minnie, they’ll board a train with Goofy as the engineer. Then, one magical moment after the next leads to an out-of-control adventure filled with surprising twists and turns. The attraction will use an original story, lovable theme song, state-of-the-art technologies and dazzling visual effects to create an unforgettable multidimensional experience. Fall is one of my favorite times of year to visit the Walt Disney World Resort. There’s simply so much fun to be had right now: my son and I simply adore Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party, my foodie husband loves the Epcot International Food & Wine Festival, and we can’t wait to take our whole family to Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge at Disney’s Hollywood Studios for the first time! Here are some of my top recommendations for making the most of your visit this fall: Indulge in spooky thrills at Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party – Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party is already delighting guests with the “treat” of a new fireworks show this year – “Disney’s Not So Spooky Spectacular.” Other must-sees at the event are the “Hocus Pocus Villain Spelltacular” stage show and “Mickey’s Boo-To-You Halloween Parade,” which features Disney characters in new Halloween costumes – and the spectral bride from the Haunted Mansion (get your smartphone cameras ready!). Don’t miss out! Grab tickets early here. Indulge your taste buds at the Epcot International Food & Wine Festival – Where else but at the Epcot International Food & Wine Festival can you sample mouthwatering international fare at more than 30 Global Marketplaces, watch live culinary demonstrations, and learn tips and tricks from celebrity chefs? Eat to the Beat concerts also keep the fun going in the evening, bringing the sounds of pop, rock, R&B, country, Christian, swing and Latin artists to the America Gardens Theatre, three times nightly. Catch “Illuminations: Reflections of Earth” at Epcot one last time – While you’re at Epcot for the Epcot International Food & Wine Festival, be sure to stay for “IllumiNations: Reflections of Earth.” The show will take its final bow on Sept. 30, in order to make way for the park’s new nighttime show, “Epcot Forever.” Make out-of-this-world memories at Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge – Guests can now become part of their own Star Wars story at Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge at Disney’s Hollywood Studios, where they can try galactic food and beverages, craft their own lightsabers, build droids and even help fly the “fastest hunk of junk in the galaxy” at Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run. (Also, now through September 30, guests can interact with an exclusive Snapchat filter that’ll put you inside a realistic hologram – available in certain U.S. regions only – start your transmission from the planet of Batuu today). Dive into a Disney water park – Now is the perfect time to cool off in the Cross Country Creek lazy river at Disney’s Blizzard Beach or jump the waves in the Surf Pool at Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon water park.
