HUGE news for burger fans, especially those who have been missing a certain chain in Orlando since it left back in 2009. ©Whataburger Whataburger is very popular in many states and has been slowly expanding throughout the country. While the chain opened in Orlando in 2005, it only lasted a few years before it closed due to a lack of sales and popularity. That’s all changing now, though, and it looks like we’ll be getting another chance to experience it in the near future! According to the Orlando Business Journal, new permits filed with Orange County have revealed that a new Whataburger location is on its way. It’ll be located at 12305 E. Colonial Drive near the Waterford Lakes Shopping Center, the former home of Aussie Grille (the fast food concept from the creators of Outback Steakhouse). ©Whataburger The permits reveal that work could begin as early as February 2nd of this year, so it’s likely we’ll begin to see construction begin soon. There are currently 48 Whataburger locations in Florida as a whole, but the Orlando locations closed back in 2009. The 2,500-square-foot building with a drive-thru is expected to be worth about $700,000. ©Whataburger However, it’s looking like customers are looking for more burger options across the market as a whole, as well as ways to find cheaper meals that are still filling. Other franchises that are currently looking to expand in the Orlando market are: North Star Dining USA Inc. is looking to open five more Five Guys restaurants White Castle is planning to build locations in Kissimmee and Daytona Beach Jack in the Box aims to bring 26 locations to Central Florida (it’s local debut will be in Longwood later this month) ©Business Insider This spot will only be roughly 30 minutes from Disney World, so if you’ve been wanting to try it, the drive isn’t terrible. Disney fans are clamoring for Toy Story characters to be added to the Roundup Rodeo BBQ restaurant at Hollywood Studios. However, the concept isn’t nearly as simple as it seems. Roundup Rodeo Originally opened in 2023, Roundup Rodeo is a BBQ restaurant located in the park’s Toy Story Land area. Guests are treated like “Andy’s honorary toys” in an environment designed to look like it’s made out of cardboard boxes, toys, and other household items. To add further immersion to the Toy Story theme, at intermittent intervals, an announcement of “Andy’s Coming” will ring out through the restaurant, and servers and guests will freeze in place like the toys in the Toy Story films. Howdy This intricate level of theming and attention to detail has led many to wonder why there are no live character interactions in the restaurant. Many guests believe that the restaurant is ideal for a Toy Story character dining experience, and question why the only “characters” present are static statues. Calls for characters to come to the restaurant have only increased recently with the announcement that a live character Jessie’s Roundup show is coming to the Diamond Horseshoe at the Magic Kingdom, a much less thematically appropriate venue. Forky Cupcake So, why isn’t Disney adding Toy Story characters to the restaurant? It may have to do with the aforementioned “Andy’s coming” story. Those of you who have long memories of viral Disney trends may remember that several years ago, a story spread on the internet that Toy Story characters would throw themselves on the floor and stay still if you say “Andy’s coming”, often accompanied by a photo of Toy Story characters on the ground. ©Theme Park Insider To be clear, this was NEVER protocol, and while it may have happened on and off in the past, it has been explicitly stopped for Cast Members’ safety in the years since the images went viral. So, it stands to reason that after doing their best to clamp down on the story, Disney doesn’t want to have live characters “freezing” during the “Andy’s coming” portion of the meal. In addition, the restaurant’s heavy theming and layout would likely have to be changed in order to accommodate characters the size of Woody, Buzz, and the rest of the gang. Hi from Woody and Jessie! While the idea of adding Toy Story characters to the Roundup Rodeo BBQ might seem like a slam dunk, reality isn’t quite that easy. Stay tuned to DFB for more Disney thoughts. As we’ve said many times, there are few things more important to bring on a Walt Disney World vacation than a good park bag. ©Amazon The latest park bag we’ve found has CHANGED the game to the point that we might never go back! DISCLOSURE: This post may contain affiliate links, meaning when you click the links and make a purchase, we receive a commission. Loungefly Convertible Tote Bag/Backpack Purse This stylish bag is perfect for anyone who loves Loungefly bags, loves Mickey (more specifically sorcerer Mickey), or simply likes shiny hues to their bags or to make a statement. Aesthetically, it also works for cosplay or DisneyBound in the parks, or if you just like a statement piece to wear around home. Either way, from our experience, you’ll get loads of compliments wearing it. Fantasia convertible Loungefly On a practical level, in backpack form, it’s an ideal size for kids/preteens that might be carrying along an iPad for travel, books, or a small game system, making it easy to handoff between kids and adults. The bag’s front design features Sorcerer Mickey embroidered in gold against a crushed velvet blue backing, as well as two included straps that feature gold-tone hardware and blue seatbelt-like straps as a carrying strap, and another two smaller looped ones for the included spots to convert it easily to a backpack. And if you don’t want straps, there are also two built-in carrying handles. We actually really like this convertible style. It addresses the complaint some guests have about not being able to fit much in their mini-backpacks, while at the same time retaining their portability. Plus, the conversion is super easy. The anchors are already set, and all you have to do is set the strap’s hardware clasp to it, and it slides open to let the anchor through. It wasn’t hard to detach either. Fantasia Loungefly To put it bluntly, it’s much larger than the typical Loungefly, but still has the same quality, branding, and theming elements we’ve come to associate with Loungefly and appreciate about them. You won’t even need the additional internal organizer thanks to the number of pockets! With the shoulder strap Now, that being said, the bag isn’t perfect. First off, while we loved the shiny iridescent blue covering, it can scratch really easily if you’re not careful, so you’ll want to carry it with caution and be extra gentle when shoving it into lockers. Speaking of lockers, it’s not tiny, so be sure you’ve got a plan for where to put it when you can’t take it on rides with you, and that you’re extremely careful putting it into a metal locker for holding while on rides. SHOP HERE Thanks to phenomenal quality, comparable cost, value, durability, size, style, and re-wear potential, we’re giving this bag a near-perfect 4.5/5 score, and can definitely see it becoming a staple for many Disney World guests. Stay tuned to DFB for more on our latest favorite finds! View the full article

At this point, it shouldn’t shock you that we’re getting more construction news at Disney World! Magic Kingdom is getting a massive expansion, Hollywood Studios is getting a new land, DinoLand just closed at Animal Kingdom, and a new resort is coming. Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort Another refurbishment that is happening right now is at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort. The resort has been undergoing refurbishment for a little while now, and Disney just announced that it won’t be complete any time soon! Disney has confirmed that renovations will continue in select areas at the resort — specifically, the porte cochere. This process will last through early 2027. So, if you have plans to stay at the resort at all this year, this is something you’ll want to be aware of. Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa Disney always warns guests that they may “see or hear refurbishment” during the daytime. They also noted that guests may need to take “alternate paths of travel.” Some minor inconveniences, but Disney usually does a great job of staying out of the way of guests as best they can. Grand Flo This refurbishment has been a process for the resort, adding new flooring and furniture, a new lobby bar called The Perch, and the reopening of the Garden View tea room — which is coming soon! The construction has come with its pains. The lobby wasn’t itself for a while, changing the aesthetic for guests visiting. The popular gingerbread house was also unable to be put up in 2025 during Christmastime as well. The Perch The agents at Small World Vacations know how to save money on your Disney Vacation! Is there anything sweeter than dining in Disney World? We mean that literally because we’re talking desserts. The Strawberry Shortcake Cheesecake There are classics like the iconic Dole Whip, and there are new bites like the ever-rotating options at the Cake Bake Shop Bakery. Sometimes the best desserts are hidden away at Disney resorts, so we recently stopped by Disney’s Saratoga Springs resort to see if this new bite would be a hidden gem or a total skip! Saratoga Springs is located in the Disney Springs Resort area. There are several restaurants to check out at this spot, like the Turf Club Bar and Grill and Chip ‘n Dale’s Cafe. One of our favorite spots is The Artist’s Palette, which is the resort’s quick service! The Artist’s Palette During our stop at the quick service, we tried out the new Strawberry Shortbread Cheesecake for $6.29! This had a thick piece of cheesecake as the base with whipped cream, strawberries, strawberry sauce, and a Mickey shortbread cookie on top. The Strawberry Shortcake Cheese! This “no-bake” style cheesecake was filled with a strawberry sauce. Add that together with the strawberries on top, and this is a strawberry lover’s dream. The cheesecake itself was very soft but held its shape well. The sauce inside helped to balance the cheesecake’s sweetness because it was slightly bitter, but not in an off-putting way. A look inside! We would have preferred a little texture on the bottom, like a graham cracker crust, but we will admit it still satisfied our sweet tooth. The strawberry flavors did lean a little artificial, but that wasn’t a deal breaker for us. The portion size was decent for the price. While we did enjoy it, we wouldn’t necessarily recommend going out of your way just for this snack! It was pretty tasty! This can be a good bite-sized snack on your pool day at the resort or something to satisfy your sweet tooth after a long part day. Magic Kingdom is one of the busiest theme parks in the world, and to keep everything running smoothly, there are rules that every guest must follow while visiting. Cinderella Castle While planning your Disney World vacation, you are probably focused on what Lightning Lanes to book and where you will eat. But, there is one thing you should do before packing your bag and heading to the parks, and that is to understand the park rules. We’re here to bring attention to the rules you might be shocked to learn about at Magic Kingdom. Stroller Wagons are Banned Wagons have become a popular form of strollers, especially when you have multiple children. But they are not allowed at Disney World. Disney’s policy is that “Wagons are prohibited at any theme park or water park. It’s best not to bring your wagon to Magic Kingdom or any other park, because you will be made to return it to your vehicle or hotel. Certain sizes are acceptable for strollers. “Strollers that are greater than 31″ in width and 52″ in length. Stroller wagons are also prohibited.” Make sure your stroller is in compliance before heading to the park. Stroller parking at Prince Charming Regal Carrousel Loose Items Go in a Locker at TRON This might shock a lot of guests, but TRON Lightcycle / Run is officially the first Disney World attraction to require the use of lockers. This is for the safety of guests on the ride and also below the ride, as visitors can stand underneath the coaster outside. Before you get to the vehicle loading area, guests will be directed to the lockers where larger items can be stored. To open a locker, just scan your MagicBand or ticket, and make sure you keep track of which number locker you selected! Here’s Everything You Need to Know About the Lockers at TRON TRON in Magic Kingdom No Tripods or Selfie Sticks Bringing selfie sticks and tripods into the parks is flat-out not allowed. Disney’s official property rules state, “Selfie sticks, hand-held extension poles for cameras or mobile devices, flags, and banners are not allowed in any theme park or water park.” This might shock many guests because, of course, everyone wants to capture their memories here. So, why such a harsh stance? For one, safety. A selfie stick mistakenly swung or dropped in a fast-moving ride can seriously injure other park guests or even damage ride mechanisms. Then there’s etiquette: those sticks extend into others’ personal space, block views during shows or parades, and generally add a layer of inconvenience in already crowded areas. Disney knows that even one guest misusing a stick can ruin the experience for many. Selfie Stick in the Wild No Costumes for Adults We know many guests love dressing up at Disney, but costumes for adults, especially those themed to Disney Princesses, should stay in the suitcase. The only exception to this is Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party, but be sure to schedule it during your party time and avoid wearing masks or toy weapons. This could create confusion with other guests about who is a Disney character for meet and greets and who is another guest. Security can and will ask you to change before you get into the parks. Guests in costume Obstructing Walkways You might hear Cast Members telling you to keep walking during the parade or fireworks. This is because Disney’s policy states, “Obstructing sidewalks, entrances, driveways, patios, vestibules, stairways, corridors, halls or landings” is forbidden. Unless you are inside the taped-off area on the ground, you will need to keep moving. This is for safety reasons, and you will want to adhere to the Cast Members’ directions. It can be frustrating when looking for a spot, but try to secure your spot early so you aren’t frantically looking at the last minute. New Year’s 2025 Fireworks crowds Keep these rules in the back of your mind the next time you’re heading to Magic Kingdom. Can you hear that sound? It’s kinda quiet? Oh yeah, it’s our hearts breaking into two. So. Many. Walls. DinoLand U.S.A. formally closed in Animal Kingdom in February 2026, and it has truly been a bittersweet process. The land is being replaced with a Tropical American-inspired area called Pueblo Esperanza, which we are excited about, but it hasn’t made saying goodbye to Dr. Seeker any easier. Now, another huge part of DinoLand has disappeared forever, and we aren’t handling it well. The land entrance sign to DinoLand U.S.A. has been removed from Animal Kingdom. That’s right, that lovely sign with a brachiosaurus and the phrase “DinoLand U.S.A.” on it has disappeared. The sign is GONE! This sign signaled your official entrance into the land, where it boasted about “exploration, excavation, and exultation.” Sure, the land, along with the DINOSAUR attraction, closed permanently on February 2nd, but this feels particularly painful. The former Dinoland U.S.A. sign! On the back of the sign, it said “Thank you for visiting DinoLand, U.S.A.,” and yes, we cried the last time we read it. It was an honor to visit! The back of the sign. It really does feel so empty without the signage! The rest of DinoLand is covered with walls and shrubs to cover the construction that’s going on. It’s so empty. While we are so sad to lose this original land, we are pretty excited to see what’s on the way! Pueblo Esperanza will be the home of Indiana Jones and the Family Madrigal from Encanto. ©Disney || Tropical Americas Land coming to Animal Kingdom There will be 2 signature attractions (an Encanto ride and a new Indiana Jones adventure ride) as well as a carousel with hand-carved characters, a new play area, and a new quick service that Disney boasts will be one of the largest quick service restaurants at Disney World. Pueblo Esperanza Market Concept Art ©Disney There really are some very exciting things to look forward to, especially because there is still a lot we don’t know about the land. The new land is opening sometime in 2027, and Disney is wasting no time getting it built. Be sure to keep following DFB for more Disney news, updates, and more! 2026 is a year of transition for Walt Disney World, including construction, openings, refurbishments, permanent closures, and — our focus today — DINING changes! YUM From refurbishments and new menus to character integration and LONG-awaited reopening, these updates are changing the landscape of Disney dining. Jessie’s Roundup The Diamond Horseshoe — one of the Magic Kingdom’s oldest and longest neglected eateries — is getting new life with the Toy Story-themed Jessie’s Roundup show during the Cool Kids Summer promotion. The show will allow guests to join Jessie, Woody, and friends to craft, dance, and “yodel their hearts out.” Diamond Horseshoe Level99 coming to Disney Springs This new establishment — built partially in the former site of DisneyQuest and later the NBA Experience — will be an interactive, social entertainment experience featuring “real-world, challenge-based, social entertainment” for adults, featuring physical and mental challenges set in artistic environments. Level99 The Disney Springs location, the largest Level99 to date, is set to feature over 60 “themed challenge rooms, duels and art hunts that will test your mental and physical prowess.” ©LEVEL99 According to Level99, the full breakdown includes: Rooms are cooperative games for teams of 2-6 players. Each room features a unique experience in either the PHYSICAL, SKILL, or MENTAL categories. Physical rooms test “strength, balance, and flexibility.” Skill rooms test “accuracy, timing, and reflexes.” Mental rooms test “memory, problem-solving, spatial thinking… and more!” Duels are head-to-head challenges found throughout LEVEL99. Art Hunts are “a low-key scavenger hunt involving the playful art found all throughout the space. Each piece of art contains a hidden Glyph. Completing Art Hunts is the surest way of seeing and exploring every inch of our bright and whimsical wonderland, so make sure to complete them while you’re ‘rehydrating’ in your downtime between games.” ©LEVEL99 If all that gaming sounds like it may make you hungry, fear not, as Level99 will also offer food and drink options at a 2-story bar, including “handcrafted cocktails, local beers and made-from-scratch bites—including LEVEL99’s signature Detroit-style pizza.” ©LEVEL99 Gideons expanding with Six Ravens On January 16th — the anniversary of Gideon’s Bakehouse’s opening — owner Steve Lewis took to social media to announce a new location: Six Ravens. Lewis stressed that the new location would be focused on savory offerings, specializing in “Coffyns.” Described as an “old school hand pie”, the fluffy yeast bread pastry will be “filled with flavors created not only by the talented minds in Gideon’s kitchen but also by some of your favorite Orlando culinary superstars,” according to Lewis. The location will also serve savory potatoes, local draft beer, and, obviously, “some tasty desserts.” According to Lewis and Gideons and Lewis, Six Ravens is scheduled to open at Disney Springs later this year. ©Six Ravens Wailulu Bar & Grill Now Takes Reservations While this began late in 2025, it’ll still be news to 2026 guests that the Wailulu Bar & Grille — located in the Polynesian’s Island Tower is now accepting reservations. The restaurant offers stunning views of Seven Seas Lagoon and Cinderella’s Castle at Magic Kingdom, plus it features some incredible infinity pool elements as well. Wailulu Bar & Grill Tea Room Reopening The Grand Floridan’s Garden View Lounge – Tea Experience is reopening this spring after several years closed. Reservations for the traditional afternoon tea service open on February 19th, with service beginning March 19th. Garden View Lounge Harambe Market Reopening Animal Kingdom’s Harambe Market quick service location reopened after a long refurbishment, this time with a new menu featuring dishes including chicken tenders and salads to make up for the permanent closure of Dinoland’s Restaurantasuarus. The full spread! Sprinkles Closed The Sprinkles Cupcake location — along with its iconic cupcake vending machine — shuttered its doors on January 1st. This closure wasn’t exclusive to Disney World, however, as every Sprinkles location unexpectedly closed at the beginning of the year. At the time of the closure, Sprinkles creator Candace Nelson made a TikTok video talking about the closure. She created the company in 2005, but then sold it to private equity in 2012, so she hasn’t had any involvement in over a decade. She mentions in the video that she thought Sprinkles would continue to grow and be around “forever.” Sprinkles Cupcakes is closed Renovations Several major Disney World dining locations, including ‘Ohana (beginning January 15th, views of the Seven Seas Lagoon have been obstructed), and both the Crew’s Club Lounge (February 23rd through May) and The Yachtsman’s Steakhouse (May through August) are all undergoing refurbishments. Inside the lounge! Trader Sam’s Hours Extended The mega-popular Trader Sam’s has bumped its opening down from 3:00 PM to 11:00 AM, greatly extending the location’s operating hours. Trader Sam’s Grog Grotto Reservation Changes In early 2026, Disney’s dining reservation system changed. Formerly, guests were able to input allergy information directly when making a reservation. Now, that’s been replaced by a message which reads, “Guests must notify their server about any allergen-friendly requests. While we take steps to help mitigate cross-contact, we cannot guarantee that any item is completely free of allergens. Our allergy-friendly recipes may use refined oils, such as soybean oil, and/or ingredients that are processed in facilities that also process allergens. It is ultimately our Guests’ discretion to make an informed choice based upon their individual dietary needs. For more information about allergy-friendly requests at Disney-owned and operated locations, please ask to speak with our special diets-trained personnel upon arrival at the location.” One of the dining rooms Kids Eat Free Guests booking a room at a Disney Resorts Collection hotel and dining plan for each guest ages 10 and up on their reservation can receive FREE dining plans for kids ages 3 to 9. This offer extends through 2026 bookings and is dependent on purchasing the vacation package (which includes a hotel stay and park tickets) as well as dining plans for every other guest. Typhoon Lagoon If you’re a big fan of Disney’s water parks, you know that they typically rotate which park is open at a time. We’re back at Disneyland Resort with another snack review — so you know what’s worth your time and money on your next visit! Schmoozies! We recently stopped by Schmoozies! in Disney California Adventure’s Hollywood Land to try a NEW treat, and now we’re bringing you our FULL review. Is it worth a stop on your next trip to the Happiest Place on Earth? Find out here! Schmoozies! is home to specialty coffee drinks, tea, and smoothies on the list. But “Extreme Refreshers” like seasonal lemonades and over-the-top, spectacular shakes are served along with tasty donuts featuring flavors that rotate with the seasons! We stopped by to try the new Cake Shake, and boy, are we glad we did. You can grab this treat for $13.79, which might sound like a lot — but it comes with a whole slice of cake on top! Cake Shake This was our reporter’s favorite shake from Schmoozies yet! It’s basically a vanilla shake and a massive vanilla cake slice. The sprinkles make it taste like a funfetti shake, which was such a fun detail. All in all, it was a simple shake that’s not overly sweet, and the cake slice makes this a massive shareable dessert! One thing to note, though, is that you might want to eat the cake slice pretty quickly, otherwise it will disintegrate into the shake — which actually doesn’t sound that bad, now that we’re thinking about it! If you’ve ever had a Cake Shake from Portillo’s, this is kind of similar to that. A whole slice of cake! In the meantime, we’ll be on the lookout for more restaurant and snack updates from Disneyland and beyond. Make sure you stay tuned to the Disney Food Blog for the latest Disney news and more! 5 Rules Disney HAD TO CHANGE in 2026 Join the DFB Newsletter to get all the breaking news right in your inbox! Is there a time we absolutely refuse to visit Disneyland? NEVER. With that said…some days are better than others. Sleeping Beauty Castle! Guests visiting Disneyland in 2026 are in for a real treat with special celebrations, enhanced rides, and an unforgettable experience. With that said, if your main goal is to avoid crowds or catch the resort when it’s offering lower wait times, these are the dates you’ll want to stay away from Disneyland in 2026… March/April Disneyland is primarily for the kids, and the kids come in DROVES in late March and early April. Disneyland crowds Spring Break season is March 28th through April 11th, 2026, and Easter is April 5th. With kids out of school, expect the parks to be surprisingly packed midweek during these spring months. May/June Memorial Day Weekend isn’t as busy as other major holidays, but don’t be surprised to see families pack the parks for the long weekend! Crowds This year, Memorial Day Weekend is May 22nd through May 25th, 2026. Crowds You’ll also want to avoid Disney Grad Nites. While they take over Disney California Adventure at night, teens get to the parks much earlier and cause wait times to skyrocket AT BOTH PARKS. Unfortunately, because they are teenagers, mischief can also be afoot. ©Disney If you’re not too keen on sharing the parks with busloads of teenagers, avoid the Disneyland Resort on May 8th, 12th, 13th, 15th, 17th, 20th, 21st, 28th, 29th, and 31st — and June 3rd, 5th, 7th, 10th, and 12th. July Summer is always annoyingly busy at Disneyland with school out, but the busiest days could wind up being around Independence Day. Together Forever With this year’s festivities getting a heightened sense of importance thanks to the country’s 250th birthday, expect Disneyland to be packed on July 3rd through July 5th. August August will wind up being one of the busiest months of the year at Disneyland. For starters, Disneyland’s 70th Anniversary celebration ends on August 9th, so it’s fair to assume a bunch of folks will rush to the resort in the final days to get one final experience with all of the celebration’s offerings. Disneyland Train Station Shortly after, D23: The Ultimate Disney Fan Event is returning to Anaheim, and the Disneyland Resort between August 13th and August 16th, and this WILL bring in fans from all over the world. ©D23 When they’re not watching panels at the Honda Center or exploring booths and exhibits at the Anaheim Convention Center, expo attendees of the most popular Disney fan event of the year will be found flocking to the Disneyland Resort. October In October, Halloween Time takes over the Disneyland Resort, and attendance usually stays consistently busy. Halloween in Disneyland Halloween, especially, is a very popular date to be in the parks. December The holiday season is so busy at Disneyland that even the highest-paying Magic Key Members are blocked out from entry during this time! Christmas at Disneyland Mid-December through New Year’s is an incredibly busy time at Disneyland. Magical, festive, and worth the visit? Yes. Crowded beyond belief? Also yes. You may want to specifically avoid December 24th, 25th, and 31st if you’re trying to avoid the biggest crowds… Disneyland And there you have it! It’s time for an Uno reverse! Instead of “I’m going to Disney,” Disney is going to the Super Bowl! ©Disney In 2027, ESPN is hosting Super Bowl LXI, and they are wasting no time preparing. The day after the Seahawks beat the Patriots at Super Bowl LX, Disney and ESPN dropped their first campaign called “We’re Going!” It’s over a year away, but this has made us so excited! Disney and ESPN are headed to the Super Bowl! The new ad, which debuted on Good Morning America, takes the classic “I’m Going to Disney” campaign and turns it around. The commercial opens with that iconic first commercial starring Phil Simms in 1987 before switching to Woody and Buzz from Toy Story, saying they wish they could go to the Super Bowl. ©IMDb Buzz says, “Maybe we can,” before chaos ensues! Buzz launches into the air before a ton of rapid-fire cameos kick off. Fans can see characters like Darth Vader, Iron Man, Frozen’s Anna, Elsa, Sven, Olaf, and Kristoff, Moana, Deadpool & Wolverine, Grogu, Stitch, The Muppets, Zootopia’s Judy Hopps & Nick Wilde, Bart Simpson, R2-D2, and C-3PO! Even Peyton and Eli Manning make an appearance, encouraging the boys to “be on their best behavior.” ©ESPN In the end, tons of characters race along Route 66 as Lightning McQueen says, “See you in 2027!” Tinker Bell flies in to reveal the Super Bowl LXI logo. 2027 will be the first year that ESPN hosts the Super Bowl, so it’s no surprise they’re starting off a year in advance. Tina Thornton, Executive Vice President, Creative Studio and Marketing at ESPN, shared that this commercial is just the beginning. She said, “‘We’re Going’ is just the beginning of a year-long adventure to our first Super Bowl. It sets the tone for how we’re approaching Super Bowl LXI — by bringing together the storytelling power of Disney with the scale, voice, and passion of ESPN. Together, it allows us to build momentum, create emotional connection, and bring fans with us every step of the way.” ©ESPN Disney teased that more details about ESPN’s Super Bowl initiative will be “announced in the coming days.” You can see the full commercial right here! Something BIG just happened in Disneyland…and we got to be there for it! The Super Bowl Parade! Now, there are some big things already happening in Disneyland, including some expansions, a new land, and a new ride. But today was the day of a rare parade. Yep, today was the annual Disney Super Bowl parade, complete with celebrities and everything! Disneyland is crowded today with football fans because last night the Seattle Seahawks beat the New England Patriots in the 2026 Super Bowl in San Francisco. Following in true Disney tradition (aka the “I’m going to Disneyland! commercial), the Super Bowl parade made its way down Main Street, U.S.A. Let the parade begin! Ahead of the players, the band marched by… The band! …the cheerleaders hyped up the crowd… Hi friends! … and some familiar Disney faces led the way! Our Disney friends! The annual Super Bowl parade happens in either Disney World or Disneyland every year, with the location decided by the host city. With the host city being San Francisco this year, it only made sense to have the parade and celebration in Disneyland. This year, the parade featured Super Bowl MVP Kenneth Walker III and Quarterback Sam Darnold. There they are! The parade began at 1:15 PM today, February 9th, and made its way through Disneyland’s parade route through Main Street, U.S.A. The tradition of Super Bowl champs saying they were going to Disney World or Disneyland dates back to 1987 with New York Giants quarterback Phil Simms. How cool is this?! This year, they also streamed the parade live! ESPN broadcast live from Main Street, U.S.A., and it included First Take with Stephen A. Smith, editions of SportsCenter, NFL Live, and a live interview with Sam Darnold. The stage was set up before the festivities began! You can see him walking to his interview after the parade here. Look at those crowds! Hey, Sam! We love getting to experience this fun and unique experience once a year in Disney World or Disneyland. Congratulations to the Seahawks on their big victory. We’ll be covering even more news from Disneyland and Disney World, so stay tuned to DFB for more. 7 Hidden Details You Can’t Miss At Disneyland DON'T DO IT ALONE! If you think this is just a place at Disney World to grab cake…think again! The Cake Bake Shop Restaurant The Cake Bake Shop Restaurant at Disney’s Boardwalk Inn Resort has built a reputation as Disney World’s newest dessert destination, but some of the biggest surprises during our lunch were actually on the savory side. Let’s talk about what we ordered, what stood out, and what’s worth it. Atmosphere Walking into The Cake Bake Shop Restaurant at Disney World honestly feels like stepping into a real-life fairytale bakery — the kind you’d expect to find tucked away on a charming European street, not just a few steps from the parks. The space is bright, elegant, and completely over-the-top in the best way, with sparkling chandeliers overhead, soft pastel tones, and a dreamy, vintage-inspired aesthetic that makes it feel both cozy and grand at the same time. It’s the kind of restaurant where you immediately want to slow down, look around, and take in all the little details before you even think about the menu. Table As you move deeper inside, the dining rooms feel almost like a series of little jewelery boxes, each one beautifully styled with its own personality, but all tied together by that same whimsical, celebratory vibe. The rooms are layered with ornate touches, from decorative mirrors and floral accents to soft lighting that makes everything feel warm and a little bit magical. It doesn’t feel like a typical Disney restaurant dining room where tables are just tables. Here, the entire space feels curated, like you’re dining inside a boutique ballroom in a storybook. WOW! And even the table setup adds to the experience. The place settings feel polished and special, with pretty dishware, elegant glassware, and that “afternoon tea meets upscale dinner” kind of charm. Sitting down feels like an event in itself (whether you’re there for a full meal or just a slice of cake) because everything about the atmosphere encourages you to linger. It’s fancy without being stuffy, glamorous without feeling unwelcoming, and genuinely one of those restaurants where the ambiance is just as memorable as what you’re eating. Champagne Bar But enough about the restaurant — what’s on the menu here?! Menu The menu here feels cultured, thoughtfully curated, and distinctly restaurant-worthy. The lunch offerings lean into elevated comfort food with a global twist, blending familiar flavors with fresh, bright ingredients. Think crisp salads that are packed with texture, rich pastas that balance creaminess and brightness, and beautifully plated sandwiches that are more “chef’s creation” than quick bite. Every dish feels like it was designed to be savored, not rushed, which fits the atmosphere perfectly. Lunch menu Unlike some places where lunch feels like an afterthought before dessert, here it is a full dining experience. The menu manages to deliver dishes that are hearty enough to satisfy but refined enough to feel special. There’s a sense of playfulness in the pairings, too! A hint of Mediterranean influence here, a touch of classic American comfort there, all united with fresh produce, quality proteins, and thoughtful garnishes that elevate every plate. Dessert menu It’s the kind of lunch where you find yourself taking an extra minute to appreciate the composition of a dish, from the way the flavors layer to the way it’s presented, and then that much more excited to get to the next course: a vast array of delicious cakes and decadent desserts. Cakes There’s also a separate Children’s Menu to choose from, too! Children’s Menu And now, onto the main event — the food! Eats First up, we grabbed the Gumbo Poutine for $27. This is made with chicken and andouille gumbo, pommes frites, and cheese curds. Gumbo Poutine The gumbo poutine here is genuinely phenomenal — and we don’t say that lightly, because we eat a lot of loaded fries around Disney World. The gumbo itself is the real star. It’s rich, flavorful, and has just the right amount of spice, with a smooth, creamy gravy-like texture that works unbelievably well over fries. There’s a generous amount of chicken and sausage mixed in, too, so it actually feels hearty and substantial instead of just being fries with a drizzle on top. So savory And then you get to the cheese curds, which are huge, soft, and super melty, more creamy than squeaky, which honestly makes them even more satisfying in this context. The fries are also excellent on their own: perfectly balanced between crispy and soft, and seasoned really well with that seasoned-salt flavor that makes them addictive before you even add toppings. Overall, this was one of the best “loaded fry” appetizers we’ve had on Disney property, and we would absolutely order them again! We also grabbed the Truffle Pommes Frites for $18. These are made with fruffle oil, smoked sea salt, thyme, and Parmesan cheese, served with the restaurant’s homemade garlic aioli. Truffle Pommes Frites The truffle pommes frites feel like the elevated, sit-down restaurant version of the black garlic truffle fries you might grab at quick-service spots — familiar, but definitely leveled up. The truffle flavor itself is more subtle than you might expect, but the fries make up for it with a heavy hit of garlic and parmesan that’s incredibly satisfying. They’re savory, rich, and just really well-seasoned. With the dip The real standout here is the garlic aioli on the side. It’s creamy, smooth, intensely garlicky in the best way, and honestly, the kind of sauce you want to bottle up and put on every form of potato imaginable. While our reporter who tasted these dishes would personally choose the gumbo poutine first for sheer uniqueness and flavor, these fries are still a really solid appetizer, and probably the safer pick if you’re dining with someone who prefers something a little more classic. Next up, it was time to try out the Croque-Monsieur for $27. This dish is made of Country bread, French ham, Gruyère cheese, Maille Dijon mustard, and béchamel sauce. Croque-Monsieur This one was honestly a little surprising, and not necessarily in the way we expected. We’ve had a few different versions of this sandwich around Disney World (especially at places like Les Halles), so our reporter went into this one thinking it would be a pretty classic, comforting ham-and-cheese situation. Almost too pretty to eat And in many ways, it is. The portion is fairly large, with those signature layers of ham and melted cheese inside, plus a béchamel sauce poured over the top. The sandwich is toasted so that the béchamel gets this really nice, crispy, golden finish while still staying creamy and soaking slightly into the bread. Texture-wise, it’s rich, indulgent, and definitely satisfying. Croque-Monsieur It also comes with an arugula salad on the side with tomatoes and what looks like a sprinkle of Parmesan, though if we’re honest, arugula salad always feels a bit like a filler side to us. It’s light, not very substantial, and doesn’t add a ton beyond being something green on the plate. You can substitute fries if you want, but after already having plenty of fries for this review, we decided to stick with the salad. Half of the sandwich The biggest thing to know about this sandwich, though, is the mustard. There’s a specific Dijon mustard on it that I assumed would be standard…but it is not. It’s spicy, horseradish-forward Dijon, and it comes in hot. The heat hits quickly, kind of zaps your tongue, and you get that sharp horseradish kick in every bite. If you don’t like horseradish or aren’t expecting spice in your croque monsieur, this will absolutely catch you off guard. The whole plate Overall, it’s a decent sandwich, though a little greasy, and for the price point, we honestly found ourselves thinking the gumbo poutine was the better value and more memorable choice. But if you love bold mustard flavor and don’t mind that horseradish bite, this could be a fun twist on the classic! As we wound down our dining extravaganza, it was time to tackle the most anticipated dish of the meal — dessert! We opted for a slice of Gwendolyn’s Famous Earl’s Court Chocolate Cake for $22. This is made with Valrhona French chocolate cake filled with Callebaut Belgian chocolate ganache and malted chocolate cream. Topped with Callebaut Belgian chocolate fudge and Fleur de Sel. Gwendolyn’s Famous Earl’s Court Chocolate Cake This cake is honestly on another level! It reminded us a little bit of the classic chocolate cake you can get at Steakhouse 71… but we would easily put this one a step above. You can taste the quality immediately; the ingredients feel richer, the execution feels more intentional, and it honestly made us realize we’ve been missing out by not trying more of the cakes here. Look at the layers The cake itself is fluffy but still has that slight density you want in a really good chocolate cake that’s rich and satisfying without being overly sweet. The chocolate flavor is deep and well-balanced, and then between each layer, you get this thick, creamy chocolate ganache that might have been our favorite part of the whole dessert. It’s smooth, sweet, intensely chocolatey, with even a little hint of nuttiness, and it’s layered so perfectly throughout the cake. A bite Inside, there are also layers of malted chocolate cream, which are lighter in flavor and cooler in texture, and they do such a good job balancing out the heavier chocolate notes. It keeps the cake from feeling too rich all at once, even though it’s definitely indulgent. And then the top is just incredible: a thick Belgian chocolate fudge layer finished with fleur de sel, which adds this subtle saltiness that cuts through the sweetness in the best way. It’s beautifully done, beautifully plated, and even dusted with a little edible glitter, because of course it is. So decadent Is it expensive? Yes — at $22, it’s definitely a splurge. But it’s also absolutely a dessert meant for two people to share, and as a split treat, it feels completely worth it. Overall, an excellent, memorable piece of cake and one of the best chocolate desserts I’ve had at Disney World. Also, we wanted to offer a super quick shoutout to Chris, our server for this meal, as it was a delight being able to pick your brain about the menu items and the restaurant! Nosh or Not This Disney World restaurant is a must-visit if… The Atmosphere Feels Like an Experience All on Its Own. Lunch here isn’t just about grabbing a meal; it genuinely feels like stepping into a whimsical, storybook bakery dining room. Between the chandeliers, pastel elegance, and beautifully styled spaces, it’s the kind of place that feels special the second you walk in, even if you’re just stopping by midday. The Appetizers Are Surprisingly Standout. If you love starting a meal with something fun and indulgent, the appetizers here are a major reason to come. The Gumbo Poutine in particular is one of those dishes you’ll be thinking about long after the trip, that’s rich, flavorful, hearty, and honestly one of the best loaded fry options on Disney property. The Cakes Are the Main Event (And Worth Planning Around.) Let’s be real: this is a cake destination. The desserts here aren’t an afterthought — they’re the highlight. If you want a lunch spot where you can enjoy a solid meal and finish with a truly show-stopping slice of cake that feels shareable and memorable, this is absolutely the place. You should skip this Disney World spot if… It’s Definitely a Splurge. This is not a budget-friendly lunch stop. Between the entrée prices, appetizers, and especially the cakes (which can be $20+ a slice), it adds up quickly. If you’re trying to keep dining costs lower or save splurges for a signature dinner, this might feel like a lot for a midday meal. The Food Can Be a Bit Hit-or-Miss Depending on What You Order. While the appetizers and desserts really shine, some of the lunch entrées may not feel as universally worth it. For example, dishes like the Croque-Monsieur have bold flavor twists that could surprise picky eaters, and the sides (like a simple arugula salad) may feel a little underwhelming for the price point. It’s More of a “Leisurely Lunch” Spot Than a Quick Park Break. This is the kind of restaurant you go to when you want to slow down and make lunch an experience. If you’re on a packed park schedule, trying to maximize rides, or just need something quick and efficient, The Cake Bake Shop might feel too time-consuming compared to faster Disney dining options. Overall Overall, lunch at The Cake Bake Shop Restaurant was a really memorable experience, with some genuinely standout highs, especially when it came to the appetizers and dessert. The Gumbo Poutine in particular was phenomenal and easily one of the best loaded fry-style dishes we’ve had on Disney property, and even the Truffle Pommes Frites felt like an elevated, sit-down version of a familiar park favorite. The Croque-Monsieur was a bit more surprising than expected, with a bold horseradish-spiked Dijon that won’t be for everyone, but it was still a solid, indulgent entrée. And then the real showstopper was the Earl’s Court Chocolate Cake — rich, beautifully layered, and absolutely worth sharing. Between the whimsical atmosphere and the quality of the food (especially the sweets, which are clearly where this place shines), The Cake Bake Shop feels like a lunch spot that’s as much about the experience as it is the meal, and definitely one to consider if you’re looking for something a little more special than the usual Disney dining routine.
