There are soooo many things to do in Disney World that it’s almost impossible to do it all in one trip (even a really long one)! Mickey Mouse Of course, with so many things calling for your attention, there are some secrets that even the most seasoned Disney vets might not know about. That’s right, we’re not talking Hidden Mickeys here folks, we’re looking at some Disney experiences that are under the radar and super magical. Check out 5 Super Secret Things You Didn’t Know You Could Do in Disney World! You certainly won’t find talk of these five experiences on any map or times guide in the Disney Parks. So what exactly are these super-secret things? Well, we’ll tell you, but keep it a secret OK? 1. Meet Moana or Other Rare Characters in Hollywood Studios Moana is a pretty difficult character to meet in Disney World, even though she’s a super popular modern princess! When Moana was released in 2016, there was a limited time meet and greet with the island princess, but it wrapped up pretty quickly. Now, it’s pretty darn hard to meet Moana! She’s been spotted at special events like Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party and Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party, but you can pretty much forget about meeting her with regular park entry. That is unless you know about a super-secret event in Hollywood Studios! Moana ©Disney Character Palooza is an almost daily event in Disney’s Hollywood Studios, but you won’t find it on any times guide! Basically, Character Palooza allows guests to meet characters-in-training from the finale of Fantasmic — which means super rare characters, and sometimes ones you can’t find anywhere else in the parks — including Moana on some days! This event takes place on days that there is a Fantasmic show (depending on crowd levels) between the hours of 4 PM and 7 PM. Fantasmic! Now, the event only lasts for 20 minutes, so you have to hope for the best for when the characters will appear. And characters definitely vary. The location of Character Palooza also varies and has been seen behind the Tower of Terror gates, at the Streets of America, or near Echo Lake. If you want to take advantage of this opportunity, stay on the move during the afternoon and keep an eagle-eye out for a gathering of guests or a squad of characters (like Moana)! Echo Lake Want to see more Fantasmic characters AND eat a tasty meal? Click here! 2. Get a No Strings Attached Voucher The next secret on our list is one you have to be really lucky (or unlucky) to get! Did you know there’s a voucher that can get you just about anything in Disney World with no strings attached? CRAZY. This secret is even called the No Strings Attached Voucher and they can be distributed by Cast Members! This one was written up to give a group of 6 priority entrance to Meet Tinkerbell in Magic Kingdom, but the Voucher can also be issued to count for a Disney Dining Plan Snack, any food or beverage item, merchandise, or pretty much anything else. No Strings Attached Voucher Cast Members in all four parks can hand these out, but here’s the rub — the most common reason to receive a voucher like this is if something goes wrong with your vacation. Maybe a line is ridiculously long for a ride and a Cast Member wants to make it right by giving you no wait later. Or maybe your brand new Mickey sweatshirt gets snagged on something and rips; a Cast Member could give you a voucher to replace the sweatshirt. Flights of Passage Queue This secret may be hard to get, but it can be super valuable and definitely more than a little magical. But remember, it’s not guaranteed. So don’t make up reasons to complain to cast members just to get one. They’ll usually reserve this kind of magic for a deserving guest. 3. Dance with Br’er Fox, the Country Bears, and MORE Friends Here’s another little known way to hang out with some less common characters! Frontierland certainly becomes a hoot of a good time during this spontaneous event — the Hoedown Happening! Now don’t check your times guide for Hoedown Happening because you won’t see it. Basically, it’s a dance party with Cast Members of Frontierland, the Country Bears, and others like Br’er Fox, Br’er Bear, and Br’er Rabbit. Many of these characters don’t have regular meet and greets either, so this is a great way to get some fun face time! Hoedown Happening ©Disney Hoedown Happening occurs randomly on any given day, and sometimes more than once! If you’re in Frontierland at the right time, you’ll see an operator from Big Thunder Railroad walk into the square and start waving a hat. And pretty soon a bunch of Frontierland folks will join him, including those characters! A good way to catch this show is to spend a good chunk of time in Frontierland or even passing through it. Maybe grab a quick service meal and take a seat near the river. Just keep one eye on the streets to catch the Hoedown Happening! Want to check out a food tour of Frontierland? Click here for our video! 4. Get a Special Goodnight from Cinderella Castle This last secret is one that is super special — and you can see it if you’re in Magic Kingdom after it closes. Maybe you were in line at Seven Dwarfs Mine Train or wanted to get one last ride in on Big Thunder Mountain Railroad before hitting the hay. It’ll take you a while to exit the park, and that’s when you’ll be treated to THIS! Keep an eye out for the 2-minute Goodnight Kiss show at Cinderella Castle. Cinderella Castle at Night This event is only visible from Main Street U.S.A. and features a special twinkling light effect on Cinderella Castle while “When You Wish Upon A Star” plays. Then, you’ll hear the voice of a narrator who thanks you for joining in Walt’s vision for a place where when you wish upon a star, your dreams come true. You may even hear from Mickey Mouse himself! It really is an emotional mini-show, and the park is often mostly empty by the time it plays. This secret is a magical one, and it might just speak to what Disney means to you. Magic Kingdom at Night So, there you have it! That’s 4 Super Secret Things You Didn’t Know You Could Do in Disney World. These experiences are a great way to add a little magic to your trip — if you know they’re there. Want to check out some Disney DINING secrets? Click here! With all the exciting attractions, restaurants, and MORE popping up in the parks with the Epcot Transformation, we definitely need some coffee to get through the day. Epcot Experience And, even though we’ve had to say goodbye to the Fountain View Starbucks (you’ll be missed), another location is officially making its way into Epcot for all your caffeine needs! While Disney has previously stated that a new, temporary Starbucks would be in the works to replace the Fountain View spot, we just might be getting that location sooner rather than later. RIP, Fountain View Starbucks Although we’ve kept you updated on the construction of additional restrooms located between Future World and Epcot’s World Showcase, we also gave you a sneak peek at a possible neighboring Starbucks (hmmm). New Construction in Epcot And, thanks to our DFB followers @itsschleintime and @samanthairene5 on Instagram, we are officially able to confirm that the new location is totally a Starbs (yaaaas!). New Starbucks Sign in Epcot Although the covering might have been blown off by the rain and the wind, we can still spot the famous Starbucks logo on the side of the building. Sooo, we have to wonder — just how temporary is this new location? ‘Cause it looks like a pretty solid spot to get an iced coffee to us. New Starbucks Sign in Epcot While we might not know when the opening date is yet, we’ll be sure to share any updates about the new Epcot location with you when we get them! You can find out everything you need to know about the Epcot Transformation by subscribing to our newsletter! Have you spotted the new Starbucks location in Epcot? Let us know in the comments below! And hey, we’ve been known to throw down on the courts on occasion, too — especially when we need to burn off some of that delicious home cookin’ at Homecomin’ (which is our home court!). NBA Experience But starting tomorrow, the NBA Experience is hosting an event called the Fanatics Authentic Showcase. Nutella lovers, REJOICE! There’s a fun cupcake in Disney’s Port Orleans Resort — Riverside and it is making our hazelnut dreams come true! Riverside Mill Food Court at Port Orleans Resort — Riverside This cupcake caught our eye while we were visiting the Riverside Mill Food Court, not only because of its adorable look, but because its description seemed right up our chocolate-loving alley! The Hazelnut Cookies & Cream cupcake — complete with Mickey ears — is described as a Vanilla Cupcake, filled with Nutella Buttercream (!!!), and topped with Oreo Cookies & Cream Buttercream. Hazelnut Cookies & Cream Cupcake It is adorably adorned with Milk Chocolate Mickey Ears and Milk and White Chocolate-Covered Crispies. Hazelnut Cookies & Cream Cupcake We were so excited to try it once we received this description. Nutella, cookies and cream, and chocolate-covered crispies? Yes, Please!!! Hazelnut Cookies & Cream Cupcake We are happy to report that this cupcake certainly lived up to its expectations! We loved it choco-lot! The cookies and cream buttercream was creamy and sweet. The vanilla cake was moist and not too dense. Hazelnut Cookies & Cream Cupcake The Nutella buttercream filling was a delightful surprise! We love that they used a Nutella buttercream instead of straight Nutella. There was plenty of it to enjoy and it wasn’t too overwhelming. Hazelnut Cookies & Cream Cupcake Inside Overall, we think this a great addition to the bakery case at Disney’s Port Orleans Resort — Riverside and will be recommending it to all of our Nutella-loving friends! It will cost you $5.49 or one Disney Dining Plan snack credit. Will you be trying or have you already tried the Hazelnut Cookies & Cream Cupcake? Please let us know in the comments below! If you’re looking for drinks, food, and a delightful time, you might want to go on down the bayou to Port Orleans Resort in Disney World! Port Orleans – French Quarter The coolest cats around head on over to the Scat Cat’s Club in the French Quarter, and that’s why we’re trying out their latest eats and drinks that will have you saying, “Achidanza!” Since it’s almost New Year’s, it’s time to say out with the old and in with the new! Scat Cat’s JUST re-opened with two separate spaces — the daytime Scat Cat’s Club Cafe, and the evening Scat Cat’s Club (which opens at 4pm). You can see our full photo tour and review of the NEW Scat Cat’s Club here! And, Scat Cat’s is now shaking things up with a new twist on the Jazz Apple, Whiskey Swagger Tea, and The Big Easy! Scat Cat’s Club Mural The Jazz Apple is making us sing the blues with the Maker’s Mark Bourbon, DeKuyper Pucker, Sour Apple Schnapps, and Pure Cane Sugar all mixed up in it for $14! If you enjoy a strong whiskey, you’re going to want to sip on this drink! Even though the apple peeks through occasionally, the whiskey is more prominent than any other flavor. We’ll say cheers to that! Jazz Apple Whiskey fans, you’re in for a treat ’cause Scat Cat’s is also pouring the Whiskey Swagger Tea! The boozy beverage is made with Crown Royal Northern Harvest Rye Whiskey, Peach Schnapps, Iced Tea, and Pure Cane Sugar for $14. Whiskey Swagger Tea Even though this is a whiskey based drink, the peach schnapps is the flavor that comes through with every sip! The rye whiskey is much drier and spicier than the Jazz Apple, but the peach and iced tea balance it out with a hint of sweetness. The contrast between the whiskey and peach schnapps is sharp, making the drink both aromatic and spicy at the same time! And, if you’re feeling especially jazzy, you can put the Whiskey Swagger Tea in a souvenir glass with a glow cube for $8 extra. Whiskey Swagger Tea There’s nothing more simple and relaxing than having a drink in Disney World! And, The Big Easy is super refreshing with its Courvoisier VS Cognac, Grand Marnier, Lemon Juice, Grenadine, Pure Cane Sugar, and Angostura Bitters for $14. Although this updated version of The Big Easy is definitely more of a tropical drink, it is STRONG, you guys! The combination of the grenadine, sugar, and Grand Marnier make it very sweet, but the bitters and cognac level it out with a kick of boozy flavor. The hint of lemon juice that comes through with every sip adds a slight sourness to the drink that is just SO GOOD. The Big Easy Now, after all that alcohol, we needed to try something a little more substantial. The Scat Cat’s food menu offers some great options that are totally unique to this location! Scat Cat’s Club food menu On our first visit to the newly re-opened Scat Cat’s Club we tried the Mardi Gras Mac and Cheese (obvi.) and the Chicken and Waffles. You can read all about those here! Mardi Gras Mac and Cheese Oh, and of course those Baton Rouge Beignets — booze-filled pillows of fried goodness — have been moved in here…with a higher price tag than before (natch). You can read all about these bbs here! Baton Rouge Beignets with Kahlua But on this visit, we decided to indulge in those Bayou Brisket Sliders (!!!) to go along with our array of drinks. The sliders are stacked with Smoked Brisket, Tomato Jam, Pimiento Cheese, and a Pickle and served with House Chips. Bayou Brisket Sliders Aaaaaaaaand, these sliders might be some of the BEST that we’ve ever had. The brisket is tender, moist, and SUPER flavorful with a slight hint of smokiness that we loved. Bayou Brisket Sliders There was plenty of delicious pimento cheese (our fave) combined with a slight sweetness from the tomato jam. The pickle adds a nice burst of acidic contrast. Bayou Brisket Sliders Plus, the final crunch from the AH-MAZING house chips added a bit of saltiness to all of the great flavors. Although the appearance is a bit underwhelming, the Bayou Brisket Sliders are a must-have for $12. Bayou Brisket Sliders and Chips If you’re staying on property, you’ll definitely want to head over to try the latest Scat Cat’s menu additions. Still, even if you’re staying at another resort or off-property, a trip to Port Orleans might just be worth the trek. Since Scat Cat’s has just re-opened, it hasn’t been inundated by tourists yet (we say tentatively). Plus, the live jazz musicians play four 45-minute long sets every hour after 7PM Thursday through Monday, and REALLY put you in the mood along with those beignets and a nice drink. Jazz Musicians Whether you’re a fan of boozy beverages or just want a unique experience for your night out, Scat Cat’s Club is a gem that’s worth visiting. And, you can keep up with anything else new and exciting happening at Port Orleans by subscribing to our newsletter! Have you tried any of the new menu items at Scat Cat’s Club? One of my favorite things about our cast members is how dedicated they are to showing up for our local community. All year long, they come together to support our Central Florida neighbors who need it most, and the holiday season is no exception. In the span of just three weeks, cast members from Walt Disney World Resort donated nearly 30,000 toys to the annual U.S. Marine Corps Toys for Tots drive, placing brand new toys into the loving arms of thousands of local children this holiday season. Throughout the month, Disney VoluntEARS will also be preparing the Toys for Tots warehouse and sorting and distributing thousands of donated toys, contributing nearly 4,000 hours of volunteer service to the cause. The Walt Disney Company’s support of Toys for Tots dates back to 1947, when Walt Disney contributed artwork that would become the now-iconic Toys for Tots red train logo, which is still used today. For over 15 years, Walt Disney World Resort cast members have come together for this annual toy collection drive, donating more than 430,000 toys to local children and families to date. The best part? You can get involved, too. Toys for Tots is accepting toy donations in Central Florida through Sunday, Dec. 15 — there may just be one more weekend to go, but that’s still plenty of time to make a difference and brighten the holiday for a local child. For information about how you can donate, visit https://orlando-fl.toysfortots.org/. View the full article

Latte Art Sign Now, as you guys know, DFB reporters are INCOGNITO! So, we asked a sweet Cast Member to be the star of our latte masterpiece, and we LOVE her amazing selfie (yaaas, girl!). After grabbing our Gingerbread Latte, we have to say that the Ripple machine makes the image extremely clear on the drinks, so it’s almost like you’re looking in a mirror! There are plenty of delectable reasons to love the holidays at Disney’s Hollywood Studios, including tasty desserts such as Gingerbread Cookies, Elsa’s Magical Macarons, and the Chestnut Pinecone. We recently asked some of our favorite locals from The Society of Refined and Sophisticated Palettes to savor the flavors of the season found throughout the park. Led by President Cloe Canard and joined by her fellow Citizens of Hollywood, these resident foodies sampled some of our favorite tinsel town treats. Check out this video for their expert reviews and our recent blog post for a complete overview of all the holiday goodies to try on your next visit to Disney’s Hollywood Studios. Hey everybody! It’s time for this week’s roundup of What’s New in Epcot! Spaceship Earth This is our weekly magic journey around this Disney World park to see what new construction, food, and merch we can spot! There’s been a lot of stuff happening at Epcot since our last visit — not to mention Festival of the Holidays is still going strong! So without further delay, let’s get right down to it! Festival of the Holidays Guide Click here to see the complete list of food booths, menus, and PHOTOS of this year’s Festival of the Holidays! Construction Update in Epcot Future World We noticed some of the construction walls in Future World were now decorated with murals depicting how the park will look when the Epcot transformation is finished! Construction Wall That’s right, folks! “Transforming” is definitely the best word to describe Epcot’s Future World in its current state this week! But at least having this concept artwork to look at during all of this construction will be a nice reminder of what’s to come down the road! Construction Wall To learn more about the Epcot Transformation, click here! While earlier we’d seen the Fountain View Starbucks get gutted, the building has now been demolished to just its metal structure. Fountain View Construction It’s a strange sight to be able to see right through the former Starbucks! We can even make out Journey into Imagination with Figment on the other side! Bananas! Fountain View Construction Meanwhile over by Test Track where the Donut Box had been during Epcot’s Food and Wine Festival, there are now construction walls up directly across from Cool Wash. Future World Construction And over by Journey Into Imagination with Figment, we spotted a new mysterious booth had popped up! New Booth in Future World No word yet on whether this kiosk will be food or merchandise-related, but we’ll update you as soon as it opens! New Booth in Future World The American Adventure Pavilion There was some construction happening over by Regal Eagle Smokehouse this week. The American-style barbecue joint is slated to open sometime this month, but it’s hard to say how much longer we’ll be waiting for it to be servin’ up its smoky delights! Regal Eagle Construction See our first look and tasting notes of some of the new Regal Eagle eats here! The work appears to be focused mainly on the facade of Regal Eagle Smokehouse, so hopefully not much longer! Fingers crossed! Regal Eagle Construction Learn more about more Regal Eagle Smokehouse here! And as we were leaving The American Adventure Pavilion, we stumbled upon this unusual-looking box. It was wrapped just like a Christmas present, but with construction netting material instead of gift wrap! Not really sure what this strange box could be yet (well, we have an idea, but it’s not confirmed yet…so stay tuned)! Mystery Box Earlier this week we told you about the new potential Starbucks location that seemed to virtually appear overnight! Potential Starbucks The new construction located between Future World and the World Showcase hasn’t been confirmed as the temporary Starbucks location yet, but we have a sneaking suspicion there’s a familiar-looking mermaid hiding under that dark piece of fabric on the building’s top right corner! Potential Starbucks Find out more about the new potential Starbucks location in Epcot here! Food Update in Epcot China Pavilion Over in the China pavilion, we happened about the glorious Cotton Candy Santa Hat! The special holiday offering costs $15 and is only available at certain times! Find it at House of Good Fortune and believe us when we tell ya, this thing is seriously the CUTEST! Cotton Candy Santa Hat Read our review and see the time schedule for the Cotton Candy Santa Hat HERE! Merchandise Update in Epcot Mouse Gear At Mouse Gear we were totally enamored with this new 2020 Phone Case for $29.99! It’s just one of several new pieces of 2020 merch that have flooded into Disney World recently! 2020 Phone Case Check out more of the 2020 merch we’ve spotted throughout Disney World here! Well, folks! That’s it for this edition of What’s New in Epcot — until next time! We’ll be back with more construction, food, and merchandise updates for ya just as soon as we refuel the Dream Mobile —now, where’d that little rascal Figment run off to? See you guys real soon! Are you excited about all the new stuff coming to Epcot soon? Tell us which new restaurant, attraction, or experience you’re most excited about! Related posts: CONFIRMED! It might be rainy in Disney World, but that doesn’t mean we can’t get our drink on! Bar We’re spending this wet Florida day checking out the latest in Disney Springs and we stumbled across some oh so sweet finds. Over at Chef Art Smith’s Homecomin’, we noticed that there are TWO new holiday sippers and (even better) a brand new cocktail! Homecomin’ is known for its delicious moonshine cocktails on tap, especially that tasty and super popular Sweet Tea Shine. All of the tap cocktails are delicious, though, which makes it even harder for us to pick when we see them lined up behind the bar. But wait — what’s that red one on the end? Homecomin’ Drinks Could it be a new cocktail??? Much to our delight, the bartender confirmed our suspicions and we were able to order the Strawberry Watermelon Lemonade! Now, look alive, this tasty-sounding beverage comes with a warning. We were told that this thing is delicious, yes, but it’s also STRONG. Strawberry Watermelon Lemonade Well, they weren’t lyin’! It’s DE-LISH. As in, YUM. It’s a sweet combination of strawberry moonshine and watermelon liquor, topped with clear moonshine and fresh lemonade. Now, that’s a LOT of moonshine, so we’re not kidding when we say this cocktail has a kick! The bartender told us that the drink is SUPER popular already and it should be sticking around for a while (sounds like good news to us)! Strawberry Watermelon Lemonade Also at Homecomin’ we spotted two cute new holiday sippers for all your portable moonshine needs! They are perfect for the festive season. There’s this positively jolly Santa Suit Sipper, complete with beard. Holiday Sipper And it has a super cute quote on the back! You’re right, holiday sipper. It IS the season to shine! Holiday Sipper The other sipper features Santa’s Sleigh, but it’s not being pulled by what you’d expect… Holiday Sipper Instead of reindeer helping Santa out with his deliveries, it’s chickens! Holiday Sipper The best part — you can bring your shine cup back and refill it for $13! This is a great deal, because what you get in the refillable cup is larger than a regular serving of the cocktail (also $13)! We love these fun new sippers and we’ll be back again for that cocktail. Grab the Strawberry Watermelon Lemonade for $13 or get it in that holiday sipper for $22 at Chef Art Smith’s Homecomin’! Want to know why we love Homecomin’? Click here! Which of the holiday sippers do you like better? Let us know in the comments! Related posts: Review: NEW Menu Items at Disney Springs’ Homecomin’!! It’s just about that time of year again! Disney Villains After Hours No, not Christmas — we’re talking about the time of year when Disney Villains take over Magic Kingdom for Disney Villains After Hours! We attended this wickedly fun event last year, and found it delightfully memorable. Disney World Annual Passholders can now save $30 per ticket when they purchase advance tickets to Villains After Hours! Taking place on select nights from February 7th through July 10, 2020, the 3-hour event takes place after closing time at the Magic Kingdom, bringing delights and frights to guest! Disney Villains After Hours ©Disney Most of this year’s Villains After Hours nights will have early entry at 7 PM, with the event kicking off at 10 PM (there are a few nights that start earlier, so make sure to check out the event calendar on the Disney website for full details). The event will feature 3-hours of access to over 25 popular attractions, and will even offer a few villain-inspired additions to rides such as Pirates of the Caribbean and Space Mountain! Heading to Disney World anytime soon? My Disney Experience screenshot While one of our favorite parts of planning a trip to the Disney parks over the last couple of years has been deciding which color of MagicBand we’d be sportin’ during our vacay, the choice became even harder in the spring of this year when Disney gave us the option to upgrade from a solid color MagicBand to a character MagicBand — for a small additional cost, of course! But that cost was worth it in our minds! We love hangin’ at the parks with our favorite Disney character on our wrist! Hai there, Vacation Genie wearing a cute Goofy hat! My Disney Experience screenshot And with new MagicBand designs appearing on My Disney Experience on the reg, today we just spotted two unique options! So far, we’ve seen several MagicBand styles including Disney characters, attractions, and food. But this pair of new arrivals are designed for The Grand Floridian and Disney’s Riviera Resort — the first time we recall ever seeing Disney World resort-specific MagicBands! New MagicBand Upgrades Both of the new Resort MagicBands are now available for pre-order on My Disney Experience for $20, while solid color MagicBands are still complimentary. We can’t say how long these MagicBand styles will be sticking around, though, so you may want to jump online quick and reserve one before they sell-out! New MagicBand Upgrades And if you don’t see the new Grand Floridian or Riviera Resort MagicBand right away, our best advice is to check back early and often! Choosing to upgrade your MagicBand can be a little glitchy. Sometimes certain styles disappear only to reappear moments (or days) later, which can be somewhat frustrating! There’s still good news though, in case you don’t get the one you REALLY wanted! There’s plenty of lovely MagicBand designs available for sale throughout the parks — including this adorable new Marie MagicBand and this cute Baby Yoda MagicBand! So best of luck to you snaggin’ the style that you want! Are you hoping to see other Disney World Resort MagicBand available in the future? Tell us which Disney World resort you’d like to see featured on a MagicBand in the comments below! Related posts: Did Somebody Say Hotel DISCOUNT?! A lovely Member recently told me that receiving Disney Files Magazine in the mail each season feels a bit like Christmas. Made me feel like a scrawny Santa. Those kind words arrived as the Disney Files newsroom elves were busy stuffing a special gift into the winter magazine package now hitting Member mailboxes: Disney Vacation Club Member stickers. Our elves included two stickers with each magazine, giving Members the option of keeping one and giving one to a friend, or keeping both for themselves (we’re not here to judge). Whether these end up on a window or bumper, water bottle or laptop, fridge or face (kidding: they won’t well stick to faces), we hope you enjoy these sticky statements of Member pride. Speaking of Member pride, the winter magazine mailing also included the 2020 guide to Membership Magic, highlighting Member events, experiences, discounts and news, along with some handy insider tips. And, of course, the winter Disney Files Magazine mailing also includes…the winter issue of Disney Files Magazine, a special edition taking an inside look at the creation of Disney’s Riviera Resort and looking ahead to new developments that’ll help shape your future vacations. From all of us in the Disney Files newsroom, happy holidays. We’ll see you – and those window clings – around the neighborhood. View the full article
