While we haven’t actually seen Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker yet since it doesn’t come out until Friday, there’s one new character we CAN’T WAIT TO MEET! The Rise of Skywalker ©Walt Disney Studios And his name… is D-O! That’s right, Star Wars fans! We’ve only seen snippets of this new droid character who we’ll be introduced to us for the first time when Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker finally debuts on December 20th, but even though we barely know him, he’s already rolled into our hearts… and onto some shelves at Disney World! D-O Sipper Check out the new D-O Sippers we’ve been seeing around recently! Sadly, these aren’t the kind you can buy at quick-service restaurants which include a beverage, but rather you’ll find the new D-O Sippers in gift shops throughout the resort. D-O Sipper And he looks like one cool little dude, so hopefully, he’ll keep our drinks nice and chilled! D-O Sipper We found the new D-O Sipper today for $22.99 at Donald’s Double Feature in Disney’s All Star Movies Resort, but we have a feeling he’ll be making the rounds, so keep your eyes peeled if you’re hoping to snag him! Time to rev up those mac and cheese eatin’ engines — a.k.a yo’ mouths! Mac & Cheese Food Truck We’re rollin’ down to Disney World to check out the lastest mac and cheese craze to blow into town — the Texas Chili Mac and Cheese at Disney Springs’ Mac and Cheese Food Truck! While we’re SUPER pumped to sample the newest offering of this rolling homage to noodle and cheese, sadly one of our favorites, the Bacon Cheeseburger Macaroni and Cheese had to be stricken from the menu to make way for the Texas Chili Mac. Sorry, pardner — your candle burned out long before your legend ever will. Texas Chili Mac and Cheese Read our review of the Mac and Cheese Food Truck here! But this new Texas Chili Mac and Cheese is SOOOO promising! It features a four-cheese blend and comes topped with crunchy corn chips! And hearty chili too, of course! It looks seriously LEGIT! Texas Chili Mac and Cheese And after tasting the Texas Chili Mac and Cheese, we feel our sadness over losing Bacon Cheeseburger Mac slowly disappearing. The chili is seasoned really well and has a nice texture to it, including some beans! We love beans in our chili, but that’s just us! Texas Chili Mac and Cheese The corn chips also lend a nice crunch and saltiness to the mac and cheese, which is soft and creamy! (Frito Pie on Mac? SOLD.) Now, we noticed that the Mac and Cheese Food Truck was dishing out their mac and cheese in big cardboard boats instead of the bowls they’d been using previously. To us, the portion looked different, but a Cast Member assured us it was the same serving size as in the past. While we can’t get enough of that one-of-a-kind Disney magic, we CAN’T WAIT to take a few sips of something a little darker in Disney World! La Cava del Tequila in Epcot’s Mexico La Cava del Tequila in Epcot’s Mexico Pavilion will soon be enchanting us with the new frozen Black Magic margarita…and it’s got a STORY to tell! (As well as a pretty LEGENDARY recipe developer.) The boozy beverage is hand-crafted by none other than Neil Patrick Harris. As you may know, Harris was previously the “Ambassador of Magic” (or president, if you want the less awesome title) of the epic Magic Castle in Los Angeles (where, someday, I will go for my birthday). And, his latest trick just happens to be the newest drink at La Cava! Author George Mann recently visited Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge for the very first time. His book, “Star Wars Myths & Fables,” contains two stories set in Batuu, including one that’s set inside Oga’s Cantina. George was thrilled to experience the land in person, and hinted that guests will soon be able to pick up a special edition of his book exclusively in the land. “We’re going to be creating a special edition of the Star Wars myths & fables book that’s exclusive to Galaxy’s Edge. We’re happier than a womp rat in a sand storm about the response we’ve been getting for our newest attraction, Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance. It’s clear guests visiting Black Spire Outpost are enjoying the opportunity to help the Resistance in their fight against the First Order. As more and more guests ride Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance, we’ve been testing new ideas to make the overall experience the best it can be. We’ve been learning so much and are focused on continuing to make the process of getting into the park and onto the attraction even better every day and want to ensure all of our guests know what to expect when visiting Disney’s Hollywood Studios. Here’s what to know: Virtual queue will be available at the published park opening time. We may welcome guests onto Hollywood Boulevard prior to opening the rest of the park, and limited nearby locations will be open for your convenience. This includes Trolley Car Café where you can pick up a beverage for your own personal “jump to lightspeed,” and if you need to grab a few galactic gifts, Keystone Clothiers will be available. At the park’s published opening time, the virtual queue for Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance opens along with offerings throughout the rest of Disney’s Hollywood Studios. Guests must be in Disney’s Hollywood Studios to access virtual queue in the My Disney Experience app. Due to the incredible popularity of Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance, we will continue to distribute backup boarding groups after the initial planned groups have been filled. Backup boarding groups will only be called if all of the initial planned boarding groups have been called back and there is capacity for more riders that evening. If we are able to accommodate boarding groups that evening, guests will be notified through the My Disney Experience app by a push notification (if enabled). For anyone with questions or needing a hand with the virtual queue, the members of the Guest Experience Team are available throughout the park to assist. And while people wait for their turn to rise up with the Resistance, there’s plenty to do around Disney’s Hollywood Studios. Here are a few of our recommendations! Now is the time to join the cause. While we’ve been on Holiday treats overload lately, we’re sneaking away to enjoy an exciting and new non-holiday treat over at Disney’s All-Star Music. Intermission Food Court Entrance You don’t have to head to Monstropolis to grab the new Mike Wazowski Cupcake available from Intermissions Food Court. The Monsters, Inc. inspired treat is a vanilla cupcake that is filled with chocolate ganache. Mint Buttercream tops this little guy along with green crisp pearls, a sugar eye, and chocolate ears. Mike Wazowski Cupcake This guy is hitting ALL the right notes for us. Just look at ALL that beautiful chocolate ganache inside! When the new Cirque du Soleil show at Disney Springs, “Drawn to Life” was announced at this year’s D23 Expo, the internet seemed to be buzzing with excitement. ©Cirque Du Soleil Tickets went on sale soon after the announcement and we can now see that the show is in high demand, as several performances are already SOLD OUT! The first four performances, March 20, 21, 25, and 26 are officially sold out according to Cirque do Soleil’s website. Note that these performances are the first four PREVIEW performances. Drawn to Life officially opens on April 17, 2020. Tickets and more information are available on Cirque du Soleil’s website as well as Disneyworld.com. It’s the most wonderful time of the year — yes, we’re referring to all of the treats out for the holidays! Christmas Tree in Magic Kingdom And, while we’re only a week away from Christmas (!!!), you can start celebrating early in Disney World by heading over to the resorts to snack on this dessert! Even though we’re thinking about nutcrackers and presents, we’re also dreaming of the Sugar Plum Cranberry Cheesecake at All-Star Music‘s Intermission Food Court! Sugar Plum Cranberry Cheesecake The vanilla cheesecake is topped with chocolate ganache, cranberry whipped panna cotta (!!!), cranberry boba pearls, candied pecans, and a fancy gold luster. Cranberry Whipped Panna Cotta and Boba Pearls! This cheesecake is sooo good that it converted our reporter and reviewer into a newly proclaimed cheesecake fan! The treat has plenty of creamy cheesecake that really makes you want to have another round or two. The cranberry whipped panna cotta and boba pearls contrast the sweet cheese with a great tangy flavor. Soft and Sweet Cheesecake Plus, the rich chocolate really ties the entire treat together, along with the sweet crunch from the candied pecans! Even though there are lots of ingredients, the Sugar Plum Cranberry Cheesecake somehow stays light and fluffy with every bite (Disney magic??). Candied Pecans Are you sold yet? Actor Josh Gad, who voiced the mega-popular character Olaf in “Frozen” and “Frozen 2,” recently stopped by to surprise guests attending the “For the First Time In Forever: A Frozen Singalong Celebration” at Disney’s Hollywood Studios. At the singalong, the Royal Historians of Arendelle recount the adventurous history of their enchanted kingdom. Guest watched as thrilling moments from the movie play on-screen and cheer as Anna, Elsa and Kristoff sing along with the audience. Instead of the show merely ending on the day of Josh’s visit, he surprised the audience by appearing at the end of the show, speaking to the audience and singing the tune “In Summer,” which his character of Olaf sings in the original “Frozen” film. When the Big Top closed late last week under mysterious circumstances, there was no tellin’ when we’d be visiting our favorite circus-tent-themed gift shop and snack stand at the Magic Kingdom again! Big Top Souvenirs But today, it appears the Big Top has magically re-opened! Looking around Big Top Souvenirs and Big Top Treats today, all appears to be business as usual with no glaring signs that point to Big Top’s sudden and unexpected closure last week! Big Top Treats It sure is nice to be back under the Big Top again! We’re glad to see no lasting effects took place to this beloved centerpiece of the Magic Kingdom’s Storybook Circus! Big Top Souvenirs And now that the characters are meeting again at Pete’s Silly Sideshow, it seems just like last week’s unusual shutdown never happened! As far as perfect photo spots go, Disney World ALWAYS delivers! Tomorrowland Entrance First we had the Purple Wall to take the perfect snap in Tomorrowland, but now we can actually pose on one of TRON’s new ride vehicles!! That’s right, we shared yesterday that a pair of TRON lightcycles had appeared in the Magic Kingdom, and we had to go and check them out for ourselves! Head over to Tomorrowland where you can now hop on one of the two TRON: Lightcycle Run vehicles for an awesome photo op! Tron Lightcycle Vehicle Photo Op While Disney’s shared TRON’s new ride vehicles with us before, we weren’t expecting to actually get the chance to try ’em out until 2021 when the ride opens! You can get a better look here at the handles as well as the restraint that flips down onto your back, as the vehicle has you leaning forward similarly to a motorcycle! Tron Lightcycle Vehicle Photo Op But, wait, wait – there’s more! When you visit at night, you’ll get to see these babies GLOWING! Tron Lightcycle Vehicle Photo Op Look at those wheels! Ahhhh, is it 2021 yet?! Tron Lightcycle Vehicle Photo Op You can currently find these TRON vehicles over by Space Mountain! While the photo op has been creating a bit of a line, it’s a pretty great picture to get, plus has made us even MORE excited for TRON to debut in 2021 (a level of excitement we didn’t even think was possible!). Annnnnd we’re back! Continuing our exploration of the newest property, Disney’s Riviera Resort today, it’s time to go check out the Voyageurs’ Lounge! Riviera Resort The swanky digs of this stylish new lounge reflect Walt Disney and his wife Lillian’s travels throughout Europe! Being huge Disney buffs, we can’t wait to see the place! Atmosphere Voyageurs’ Lounge is located on the first floor of Riviera near Le Petit Cafe. Welcome to Voyageurs’ Lounge! It serves as a sort of gathering place where you can relax, unwind and maybe even share the details of your day’s adventures with fellow travelers! Voyageurs Lounge One wall is lined with a long, cozy banquet with accent pillows and side tables for setting down a good book or resting a tasty espresso drink from Le Petit Cafe! And don’t forget — while Le Petit Cafe is serving up some specialty coffee beverages and pastries by day, in the evening it transforms into a wine and dessert bar! We can’t wait to come back here at night with a nice glass of vino! Voyageurs’ Lounge Learn more about Le Petit Cafe here! The other side of the room showcases a large bookcase holding a library of books similar to the ones Walt collected on his “Grand Tour” through the continent in 1935! There’s also a large community table for playing board games, or perusing a few large coffee table books that have been laid out! Voyageur’s Lounge The rest of the books are merely decorative, unfortunately! (Trust us, we tried to pick ’em up, but they’re stuck to the shelves!) Voyageur’s Lounge There are also lots of interesting artifacts and pieces of Disneyana — that’s just a fancy word for old-timey Disney stuff! We saw this display case containing some interesting Three Little Pigs items which debuted in 1933. Voyageur’s Lounge And there was also this interesting display featuring a vintage Mickey Mouse pop-up book! Voyageurs’ Lounge Speaking of Mickey Mouse, check out this cool vintage plush doll the Voyageurs’ Lounge has! Voyageurs’ Lounge Touches of Walt are also sprinkled around the room filling Voyageurs’ Lounge with his presence, from the framed black and white photographs right down to one of Walt’s hats! Voyageurs’ Lounge Seriously, folks! We could hang out here all day and absorb every tiny bit of minutia in this new space! It’s that comfy AND detailed! It’s the most wonderful time of the year at the Walt Disney World resort with the almost never-ending addition of holiday sips and treats in the parks and resorts. Christmas at Walt Disney World We’re headed to the Value Resort, Disney’s All-Star Music, to JAM OUT with some Holiday Cocktails. The Singing Spirits Pool Bar offers up specialty cocktails, draft beers, wine, and sangria complete with a view of the resort’s guitar-shaped Calypso pool. Singing Spirits Pool Bar We’ll be feeling in high SPIRITS this holiday season with two limited-time cocktails. From now through December 31, 2019, you can sip on The Merry Margarita and The Melted Snowman. Holiday 2019 Cocktails The Merry Margarita is priced at $16.00 and features Jose Cuervo Gold Tequila, Grand Marnier, Fresh Lime Juice, and Cranberry Juice. It is garnished with lime, cherries, and the mickey shaped glow cube we’ve been seeing all over the property. The Merry Margarita This is basically a Cadillac Margarita Christmas-ified with some delicious Cranberry Juice! Plus — GREEN SALT! Like…seriously green. Our hands are totally stained green now after trying this. Totally worth it. The Merry Margarita If you’re looking for something a little more outside the norm, The Melted Snowman is priced at $14.00. The Melted Snowman Some things are worth melting for and this cocktail both sounds AND looks delicious. This delight features Stoli Vanilla Vodka, Baileys Irish cream, whole milk, and peppermint syrup. It is garnished with whip cream, a cinnamon stick, and a dusting of cinnamon powder. The Melted Snowman This was sweet and creamy! The peppermint doesn’t overpower the other flavors in the drink, rather it mixes nicely with the vanilla and Irish Cream. This goes down waaay too easily! Better act quick! These two new delicious libations are only available from The Singing Spirits Pool Bar at Disney’s All-Star Music through the end of the year. When it comes to Dole Whips, we firmly believe you can’t have too much or too many of a good thing! Sunshine Tree Terrace Luckily, Disney World has DELIVERED on that, bringing us the popular FOMOsa, as well as a bevy of other crazy fun Dole Whip flavors and floats! On a recent trip to Sunshine Tree Terrace, though, we noticed that one of our new fave Dole Whip-creations was missing from the menu. Did that mean the strawberry-flavored Redd’s Revenge was gone for good? While Redd’s Revenge Dole Whip Float is no longer on the menu at Sunshine Tree Terrace — it was JUST replaced by the I Lava You Float — we’re happy to report that it is still available to order with a tiny catch! Phew! Redd’s Revenge Dole Whip Float Yep, the strawberry Dole Whip is still here for now! Ok, now that small catch: while the original float consisted of strawberry Dole Whip, strawberry Fanta, and a red chocolate pirate’s hat, the variation they offer now on their SECRET MENU does not come with the chocolate pirate’s hat. While that’s a bit of a bummer, we’re just happy we can still get this strawberry-flavored treat at all! Redd’s Revenge WITH the Chocolate Hat While we don’t know for sure HOW long this delicious treat will be on the secret menu, for now you can pick up Redd’s Revenge (without the chocolate) at Sunshine Tree Terrace in Magic Kingdom for $6.99 or a Disney Dining Plan snack credit. There may not be a more quintessential Walt Disney World snack than a delicious cup of Dole Whip. Pineapple Dole Whip We live for the stuff that’s available over at Aloha Isle in Adventureland at Disney’s Magic Kingdom as well as now seemingly ALL over the World, including Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort (Hello there Dole Whip Lime Margarita!). Dole Whip has practically a cult following that has even inspired merchandise items. Disney keeps us on our toes with exciting updates to the theme park staple. The sweet treat has materialized in various forms including spiked versions, self-serve, floats, and even specialty flavors, like in recent times with the Redd’s Revenge. Redd’s Revenge Well, hold the FOMOsa, because there’s a new kid on the block that debuted just yesterday in Magic Kingdom at Sunshine Tree Terrace. Say hello to the I Lava You Float. Sunshine Tree Terrace The newbie features Strawberry Fanta Soda, Orange Dole Whip, strawberry and red passion fruit syrup. It is then topped with strawberry popping candy. It seems to take its name after the “Lava” short by Pixar! AWWWW!!! I Lava You Float The base is comprised of a delicious Strawberry flavored Fanta Soda. I Lava You Float We’re big fans when Dole Whip is mixed with flavored syrup, like with the Simba’s Sunset Dole Whip. The Orange Dole Whip here mixes perfectly with the strawberry and red passion fruit syrup. The syrup acts as the ‘lava’ here and cascades down into the soda base. I Lava You Float Can you spy the Pop Rocks back there? Pop Rocks! The Pop Rocks are a really fun addition! Pop Rocks! This was totally YUMMY (and fun!) but we totes still love our classic Citrus Swirls here too! Whatever FLOATS your boat, right?
