In tribute to all of our beloved Disney Princesses, guests can now sign up for the very first edition of the Disneyland Paris Princess Run next year from May 8-10! Enjoy a weekend of festivities for every level all while discovering the magic of the resort and taking home a few exclusive souvenirs. Guests will find themselves under the sea with Ariel on a 5K run and singing Be Our Guest with Belle on an 8K run, while kids can take part in 100M, 200M and 1KM runs with the princesses’ loyal friends such as Cinderella’s adorable mice Suzy and Perla or Pocahontas’ mischievous raccoon Meeko. In honor of the film’s 70th Anniversary, athletes and challenge enthusiasts alike can even participate in the Cinderella Challenge 13K by taking part in two runs to receive a new, additional medal. And along the way, Disney characters will be cheering guests through the winding routes inside the resort. It’s sure to be a pixie-dusted weekend at Disneyland Paris, so snatch up your tickets soon! “What do you want to be when you grow up?” At just 10 years old, Dominick (Dom) Masi from Ft. Lauderdale, Florida knows exactly how to answer that question: He wants to be a Disney Imagineer. So, when his parents took him to Disney’s Hollywood Studios to be among the first to experience Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance, imagine the excitement in Dom’s eyes when he found himself face-to-face with a few of his role models from Walt Disney Imagineering just seconds after disembarking the attraction! Whether the moment happened by magic, or through the Force, Dom was in total awe. As a lifelong Annual Passholder and creative kid with a booming imagination, Dom’s hero has always been Walt Disney, or as he calls him, “Mr. Walt.” He loves spending his free time learning about the magic behind the scenes and brushing up on Disney history – from the engineering of beloved attractions, to backstories of adored Disney characters and the creation of Disney parks around the world. Lately, he’s been watching (and re-watching) “The Imagineering Story” on Disney+. Although he didn’t know he would be meeting the Imagineers during his visit, Dom came prepared, researching everything he could find about Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance and learning more about what is one of the most ambitious and immersive experiences ever created for a Disney park. Like many kids his age, Dom is sometimes a bit shy, but when a cast member introduced him to the Imagineers, he completely came out of his shell, telling them all about his passion for dreaming up and creating new things, and how he’s an aspiring Imagineer himself. The Imagineers gave Dom a glimpse into a day in the life of Walt Disney Imagineering and even shared some fun facts and insider details about how they brought the attraction to life (including Dom’s favorite part – the fall from space and crash landing back on Batuu!). Meeting some of the people Dom has looked up to his entire life “meant the world to him and to our family,” his dad said afterward. “We were thrilled to meet Dom and his entire family,” Walt Disney Imagineering Executive Producer Jon Georges said. “It was incredibly special to hear about his passion for Disney and our team. Christmas in Disneyland might just be one of the most magical times of the year! Grand Californian Gingerbread Display While we’ve been looking at all the Christmas decorations and building our own gingerbread houses at the Grand Californian Hotel, we’re also ready to snack on another holiday treat at the resort! The Mickey and Minnie Holiday Donuts are colorful and festive at Craftsman Grill, just in time for the holidays! Craftsman Grill Sign While the Mickey and Minnie Donuts usually taste the same, they tend to get a makeover depending on the time of the year! And, for the Christmas season, the cake donuts are covered in chocolate frosting and topped with red and white sugar sprinkles, mistletoe candies, chocolate ears, and chocolate bows or buttons! The most wonderful time of the year is in full swing in Disney World, and it has brought with it ALL the holiday treats to enjoy! Now we’re heading over to Joffrey’s Coffee Kiosk at the entrance to Animal Kingdom to try out another cheerful treat! Say hello to the CUTEST new holiday treat to hit Disney World — the Reindeer Donut! Reindeer Donut Taking some inspiration from our history-making friend, Rudolph, the donut comes with a red-icing covered mini donut in the middle, aka the reindeer’s red nose! The surrounding donut is covered in chocolate icing, with mini candy cane “antlers”! Reindeer Donut Seriously, how ADORABLE is this?! The “red nose” is a mini donut covered in red icing — yummy! Reindeer Donut The antlers are mini candy canes, which is just as cute and tasty as could be! We’ve been snacking on SO many treats in Disneyland this Christmas season! Jolly Holiday Bakery Cafe From all the goodies at Festival of Holidays to seasonal churros, there isn’t a better time of the year for such AMAZING desserts. And, we’re getting into the holiday spirit with the latest treat baking up in the parks! The Peppermint Bark Donut is soft and sweet at the Jolly Holiday Bakery Cafe! Peppermint Bark Donut The yeast donut is fluffy and practically melts when you bite into it (we’ll take 3). While the vanilla icing and sprinkles on top are pretty much a norm for a donut in Disneyland, the thick pieces of chocolate peppermint bark are SO GOOD. Chocolate Peppermint Bark and Vanilla Frosting! The minty kick the bark adds to donut mixed with the rich chocolate makes it an adorably festive (and delicious) holiday treat. When Christmas comes around, we LOVE the smell of all those goodies baking up! Gingerbread Cookie And, Disney World has sooo many great treats out for the holidays. While we’ve already tried the Gingerbread Cookie Sandwich, Gingerbread Martini, and the Gingerbread Beignets, we’re digging into another spicy and sweet treat at the resorts! The Gingerbread Cupcake is adorably festive at the Artist’s Palette in Saratoga Springs and Good’s Food to Go at Old Key West Resort! Gingerbread Cupcake Display The spiced vanilla cupcake is filled with gingerbread spiced buttercream and topped with even MORE buttercream, white chocolate crispies, peppermint sprinkles, a gingerbread snowflake, and lots of edible glitter (!!!). Gingerbread Cupcake Before we even dug into the cupcake, the smell of the ginger was extremely aromatic (and made us super excited to try it). The spiced vanilla cake has just a hint of heat, while the buttercream carries most of the AH-MAZING ginger flavor. The white chocolate crispies and peppermint sprinkles add a bit of sweetness and crunch to the treat, making it every gingerbread fan’s holiday dream come true! If you’ve been following DFB for a while now, you know that we pledge allegiance to all things CHEESE. Plastic Cheese Fries One of our favorite Disney guilty pleasures is the delicious, bright yellow #PlasticCheese sauce found over at Casey’s Corner in Disney’s Magic Kingdom (as well as a few other lucky eateries). We top our hot dogs with it, our fries, and…of course…our CORN DOG NUGGS. But the saga over at Casey’s Corner has seemed almost never ending over the years. First, they removed the steaming hot vats of it off of the self-serve Toppings Bars only to bring it back for an upcharge (ok fine – we’re OKAY with paying $1 for a cup of it). Plastic Cheese And yesterday I got word from a dear friend that…the Corn Dog Nuggs now COME WITH CHEESE on the regular menu! No need to buy your separate cup-o-gold! Casey’s Corner It’s true, it’s true! A Corn Dog Nugget Meal WITH Cheese Sauce. It’s a Christmas Miracle! Casey’s Corner Menu The meal is priced at $9.99 and includes the corn dog nuggets, French fries, and a cup of the plastic cheese. That’s right, you can keep your BUCK as the cheese sauce is now included in the price of the meal. Corn Dog Nugget Meal Obviously, the fried corn dog nuggets are perfection on their own, BUT they are kicked up to an entirely new level when dunked in the ooegy, gooey marvel. If you’ve been following along, Big Top Souvenirs and Pete’s Silly Sideshow, located in the heart of the Magic Kingdom’s Storybook Circus in Walt Disney World, closed suddenly late last week. Storybook Circus’ Big Top While we’re still unsure of the reasons behind this unexpected closure, we’re happy to report that Pete’s Silly Sideshow, the character meet-and-greet location, has now reopened. It’s once again business as usual as guests can meet Donald Duck, Goofy, Minnie, and Daisy in their usual location at Pete’s Silly Sideshow. Pete’s Silly Sideshow Minnie and friends happily greet guests unaffected by the recent temporary closure. Pete’s Silly Sideshow Partitions remain in front of the main entrance to Big Top Souvenirs, home to the popular gift and treats shop. This week, we shared exciting news that the all-new “Magic Happens” parade will make its debut at Disneyland park, beginning Feb. 28, 2020. As you may know, “Magic Happens” celebrates awe-inspiring moments of magic that are at the heart of so many Disney stories. Mickey Mouse will lead this new daytime spectacular down Main Street, U.S.A., revealing a parade of stunning floats, beautiful costumes and beloved Disney characters. “Magic Happens” will also feature an energetic musical score and a new song, co-composed by singer-songwriter Todrick Hall. After experiencing Rise of the Resistance for the first time last week, we’ve been on the hunt for ways to show off our more rebellious-side! Rise of the Resistance And while doing a little holiday shopping at Disney Springs this afternoon, (after enjoying some Homecomin’ Strawberry Watermelon Lemonade moonshine from our new refillable sipper!) we found just the thing! The Force has always been strong in our families, but it’ll be EVEN STRONGER now that we just discovered this year’s perfect stocking stuffers! Look at these colorful Stance Star Wars Socks! Stance Star Wars Socks What better way to stuff a stocking with than…another STOCKING!? (Woah…that’s meta.) Especially when they’re as bright and graphic as these ones! The Stance Star Wars Socks come in packs of three, which we admit, at first we thought it was the moonshine throwing our counting abilities off, but they’re meant to be mixed and matched! “Ducks Score!” Anaheim Ducks Day 2019 We’ll score, too, when Anaheim Ducks Day returns to Disney California Adventure Park on January 8th, 2020. The hockey team will continue to honor its longstanding ties to the Walt Disney Company with a day-long extravaganza complete with meet and greets, photo opportunities, special decor, and much more, ALL hockey-themed. Anaheim Ducks Day Disney Parks Blogs has now released additional information, including details on Event Merchandise and Specialty Treats. Clarabelle’s Hand-Scooped Ice Cream will be scooping up a vanilla ice cream puck dipped in dark chocolate featuring the Ducks logo, while Trolley Treats will be featuring orange creme. ©Disney Studio Catering Co. will be serving a hockey puck themed brownie and Schmoozies will be offering an orange shake. ©Disney Over near Pixar Pier, Award Wieners and Boardwalk Pizza & Pasta will both be serving an orange macaron. The Hollywood Land outdoor vending cart near Off The Page will be serving up ALL things Orange including: cotton candy, special beverages, hot wings, and more. ©Disney Of course, it wouldn’t be a Disney special event without exclusive merchandise. Interactive photo opportunities are available. You may even be able to meet the mascot! Meet & Greet with Players, Hollywood Backlot Stage – 2:15 PM, 3:00 PM, 3:45 PM Snap a pick with some of your favorite players during select times. Wristbands will be distributed for this unique opportunity at park opening in the Hollywood Backlot near the Hyperion Theater queue. It is limited to one experience per guest. Anaheim Ducks Champion Showcase, Mickey’s PhilharMagic Theater – 8:00 AM to 7:00 PM Catch “Best of the Anaheim Ducks!” Animation Academy Artists will be on hand throughout the day to teach guests how to draw some of your favorite Disney Ducks. We’re only a few short months away from chugging along Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railway! Facade Concept Art ©Disney While we’ve already given you a sneak peek of the ride, a glimpse of the ride vehicles (the most colorful trains around), and a first look at the attraction’s merchandise, now you can actually check out the inside the ride! We were able to see the first scene AND a better look of the runaway train during this year’s “Disney Channel Holiday Party @Walt Disney World!” Disney Channel’s Zombies 2 stars Meg Donnelly and Milo Manheim met up with an Imagineer to show us a preview of the anticipated attraction arriving in Hollywood Studios on March 4th, 2020. Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway ©Disney We’ve already given you a clue about the ride’s adorable plot, where guests will first watch a short in the new animation style (kind of like the movie montage at the beginning of The Great Movie Ride!). The short will feature Mickey and Minnie trying to plan the perfect picnic when they meet up with Goofy the train conductor. “Mickey Mouse in Perfect Picnic” ©Disney As they go over a set of bumpy railroad tracks, the train accidentally breaks open and sends Pluto and a pie flying. The pie lands in the smokestack of Goofy’s train and causes the entire screen to explode (!!!). Buuuut, if that isn’t cool enough for you, the screen then magically transforms into a doorway after Goofy asks a Cast Member to bring the guests through the screen to help out! Talk about stepping inside a story!! Mickey Waffle And while some folks are excited about the lists of Disney World restaurants participating in the 2020 dining plans that have started trickling in, others are beginning to straight-up PANIC! The holiday season can already be stressful enough, but add to it the nerve-racking excitement of planning a Disney World trip for early next year and you might be heading into a tailspin! You see, this time of year, we at DFB get LOTS of emails, direct messages, and more from our readers about one specific issue. The new year is almost here. Our readers are making their dining reservations for their Disney trips. But their chosen restaurants DON’T ACCEPT THE DISNEY DINING PLAN IN 2020! Smokie City at Raglan Road Irish Pub and Restaurant See the complete list of 2019 Dining Plan restaurants here! Hey! We get it! It can be scary watching the days fly by and still your favorite doesn’t show up on the 2020 list! But rest assured — this happens every year, friends! You see, while many Disney-owned properties are instantly renewed and released on the following year’s list of restaurants offering the dining plan, restaurants operated by third-party owners may not re-up on the Dining Plan as quickly, and may not announce their Dining Plan status until January. We know many of you guys LOVE these restaurants (many of which are located in Disney Springs), and in some instances have already secured your advance dining reservations well ahead of time to ensure you’d be eating at your favorite spot on your Disney World vacay! Peking Duck at Morimoto Asia However, we urge you to relax! Don’t start canceling those ADRs and wreaking havoc on your vacation plans because your restaurant isn’t on the 2020 dining plan list…yet. Chances are, and as we’ve seen many times over the years, these third party restaurants are usually the last to drop in, but they usually make the cut! We always advise our followers and readers to make plans based on the 2019 Disney Dining Plan restaurants list. The Classic Afternoon Tea at Steakhouse 55 in the Disneyland Hotel has received a major upgrade for the holiday season! Afternoon Tea at Steakhouse 55 Depending on when you visit, the Traditional Afternoon Tea receives some twists reflecting the season and various celebrations happening around the resort. In the past, these themed afternoons have included the Pixar Fest Afternoon Tea as well as A Very Merry Unbirthday Tea Party just earlier this year. Steakhouse 55 Located Inside the Disneyland Hotel Now, we’re spilling the tea on the Holiday Afternoon Tea that our friend Heather (@diningindisney on instagram) recently experienced. As always, guests can choose from either the Classic Tea Party or the Premium Tea Party, which includes Sparkling Wine, Salad, and a Farewell Truffle in addition to the Classic inclusions of Scones, Tea Sandwiches, and Desserts. (A Kids Tea Party is also an option.) Afternoon Tea at Steakhouse 55 Pinkies up! Of course, your choice of tea is also included with each package. Afternoon Tea Themed arrangements are found on each table to help set the festive mood. Table Decor This beautiful floral decor could be described as simple and classic with neutral, wintry colors. We love this white floral arrangement that utilizes a silver gift box as the vase. Table Decor But we KNOW you aren’t reading this for the decor… Let’s get on to the bites! On our visit, we opted for the Premium Tea Party Experience. Steakhouse 55 Menu We obviously must begin with the beverage of the event…Tea! Afternoon Tea The first course is a Salad that features Baby Kale, Quinoa, Pomegranate seeds, Stilton Cheese, Candied pecans, and White Balsamic Vinaigrette. Kale Salad But save some room for the main event: a multi-tiered delight of Traditional Scones, Tea Sandwiches, and Desserts. Afternoon Tea The Traditional Scones are served with a Citrus Cranberry Curd (in place of the usual lemon), Devonshire Cream, and Strawberry Marmalade. The Mickey-shaped scones get a holiday overlay with the addition of red and white candy cane sprinkles. Traditional Scones The Tea Sandwiches portion features Cucumber and Cranberry, Yuzu Avocado Mousse with Lingonberry and Chicory, Smoke Salmon Crumble with Celery Root Butter, and a Duck Confit and Braised Red Cabbage with Banana Mole Gel. They also generously accommodated us and gave us the adorable Snowman Chicken Salad Sandwiches that are featured on the Kids Tea Party Menu. This course was super fun as they are all decked out in their Winter Best. Almost too cute to eat… Almost! Tea Sandwiches Started from the bottom now we’re here! The top level features a bounty of yummy Desserts including Minted Cookies and Cream Mousse, Chocolate Hazelnut Roulade, White Chocolate Mocha Cream Puff, Orange Cranberry Cheesecake, and Chocolate Covered Strawberries. Holiday Desserts Santa makes an appearance masqueraded as Orange Cranberry Cheesecake, while the Reindeer come along too as Chocolate Hazelnut Roulade. Minted Cookies and Cream Mousse make up the white chocolate topped Christmas Tree. Desserts You thought we were full? Guests experiencing the Premium Tea Party are given a Decadent Chocolate Farewell Truffle. Farewell Truffle The Premium Tea Party experience is currently priced at $70.00 per person while the Classic Tea Party is $55.00. The Kids Tea Party is available for guests 10 & under and costs $35.00 per child. Overall, we are continually baffled on each visit just how full we are when we leave here. The portions are incredibly generous and the caring Cast Members truly make this a dining experience. We know the price tag may be on the higher end, but you get A LOT for your money. Thanks Heather!
