Today, star quarterback Drew Brees visited Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge at Walt Disney World Resort and experienced Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance, which he called “one of the greatest rides I have ever been on.” “I really felt like I was on a journey,” he said, after enjoying the groundbreaking attraction with his family. Brees made sure to stop on the planet of Batuu at Disney’s Hollywood Studios while in Florida for the 2020 NFL Pro Bowl, which will be played on Sunday, January 26 at Camping World Stadium in Orlando. Not only did he and his family experience Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance, they also had the opportunity to build their own lightsabers at Savi’s Workshop and to design their own droids at the Droid Depot. “Our experience here at Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge has been phenomenal,” Brees said. 4. Disney food is one of our favorite things EVER, so we love being able to take some of the magic home with us! Mickey Ice Cream Bars at Home And, while we’ve already spotted Mickey Ice Cream Bars and Millennium Falcon Ice Cream Sandwiches at our grocery stores, there’s ANOTHER classic park treat making its way to YOUR neighborhood RIGHT NOW! Thanks to our sweet friends @code_word_disney, we’re able to show you the Mickey Mouse Ice Cream Sandwiches (!!!) that you can grab RIGHT NOW! Mickey Ice Cream Sandwiches The latest treats coming to your local grocery stores are made with two soft chocolate cookies (even Mickey looks super excited about them on the front of the box)… Mickey Ice Cream Sandwiches …and Cookies ‘N Cream ice cream, which seems like a super yummy combo! Mickey Ice Cream Sandwiches How do these compare to the ones IN the parks? Pretty closely, it seems! While the Mickey Bars sold in stores are noticeably smaller than their in-park counterparts, these are roughly the same size! The pic below is a sammie from in the parks… Mickey Cookies and Cream Ice Cream Sandwich in Disney World …and the one below is a store-bought version. Pretty close, eh?! Mickey Ice Cream Sandwiches So whether you’ve just gotten back from Disney World or you’ve been missing the parks for a while, you can indulge yourself with a Mickey Mouse Ice Cream Sandwich without heading to a Disney park or resort! Now, here’s the rub. Our friends found these guys in California. We exhausted as many grocery stores, Targets, and Wal-Marts as humanly possible in the Dallas area hunting for these bad boys and came up totally empty. We looked EVERYWHERE we could think to look! SO…that just means they’ve likely just started to make their way into stores. If you don’t see them at your store, don’t give up! Check back, or ask if your local store plans to carry them (they can usually tell you if they plan to carry an item if you ask at Customer Service!). Thanks again to our friends at Code Word Disney for their pics! Now, imagine snuggling up on your couch with one of these and “The Imagineering Story” on Disney+. Perfection! Have you spotted the Mickey Mouse Ice Cream Sandwiches in your local grocery store? Let us know in the comments below! Related posts: Review! 12. Aloha kakahiaka (Which is good morning in Hawaiian.)! And we did have a VERY good morning recently at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort. Polynesian Resort Lobby We’ve had a longtime LOVE for the Polynesian and its amazing eats. Whether it be a Dole Whip from the Pineapple Lanai (they just taste better here don’t they?) or the Chocolate-Covered Pineapple from Kona Island, there is always something tasty to be found at this iconic resort. Pineapple Coconut Chocolate Covered Bacon But sometimes, you just want to hit a classic spot…with a little character. That’s right! We headed to one of our favorite restaurants and character breakfasts on property, ‘Ohana. This has long been a beloved character breakfast, but would it still hold up — especially with the addition of the new character Breakfast à la Art at Topolino’s Terrace at the Riviera Resort?? That’s what we wanted to find out! Atmosphere: ‘Ohana is located on the second floor of the Polynesian’s main building, the Grand Ceremonial House. No matter what time your meal is (breakfast or dinner), you’ll check in at a podium to the right side of the restaurant. ‘Ohana Check-in Considering we were here for breakfast, there was plenty of seating available while we waited for our name to be called. However, if you dine at dinner, a spot may be hard to come by, as the Tambu Lounge will be open and these seats are available for guests of the lounge as well. Tambu Lounge and Waiting Area You’re also invited to meet your first character while you wait! Character Meet and Greet Line It’s usually Pluto, but you may see another friend there instead. This is the only character with a PhotoPass photographer so make sure you have your magic band ready to scan! Hi Pluto! How precious is he with his lei?! And speaking of characters, you’re probably wondering who all attends this breakfast! Well, considering this is officially called the Best Friends Breakfast, it’s fitting that Pluto’s BFF, Mickey Mouse, joins you at your table. Hiya Pal! Could his Hawaiian shirt be any cuter? Also swinging by your table is another set of besties — and this pair call Hawaii (and outer space) home. Of course, we mean Lilo… Lilo! …and her “dog” Stitch! Experiment 626 This is the only character meal that you’ll find Stitch at, so if you’re a fan of this little troublemaker, you should absolutely put an ‘Ohana breakfast on your calendar. ‘Ohana, like many character meals, has a little parade that your kiddos can participate in. They can borrow a shaker from a character attendant, and follow the characters in a processional. It’s super cute, so have your cameras ready! Stitch in the Character Processional Shakers Inside ‘Ohana, you’ll find a simple yet distinctly Polynesian atmosphere. ‘Ohana Seating In the center of the restaurant, they’ve designed it to look like an outdoor tiki pavilion! Indoor Tiki Roof There are tiny Hawaiian touches everywhere — for example, we love these animal sculptures along the ceiling! Animal Sculptures If you’re lucky enough to get seated at a window seat, you’ll be treated to a fabulous view! View from ‘Ohana Window You can also see the giant stone grill where they cook their iconic meat for dinner! ‘Ohana Grill Speaking of meat, let’s eat! Eats: ‘Ohana may mean family, but it also means DELICIOUS breakfast skillets. But before we get ahead of ourselves, let’s check out the beverage options. Breakfast at ‘Ohana starts with a Polynesian classic — POG Juice! POG Juice If you’re not familiar, POG juice is a Disney favorite blend of passion fruit, orange, and guava juices. It’s known under several aliases around property — at Tusker House it’s called Jungle Juice, at Topolino’s it’s Florida Sunshine, but no matter where it is, it’s DELICIOUS. In addition to POG Juice, your meal comes with sodas, standard juices, milk, and coffee included. Coffee is a life blood for us. Of course, if you want to kick it up a notch, you can order a specialty beverage, like a Mimosa or fancy coffee, for an additional cost. Non-Alcoholic Specialty Drinks The Warped Hula Hoop sounds intriguing… Specialty Drinks To start your meal off, your seater will grab you a tasty chunk of their signature Pineapple-Coconut Breakfast Bread. Pineapple-Coconut Breakfast Bread Just look at this glorious, sticky chunk! You can even see chunks of real pineapple in the bread itself. And the top is smothered in a perfect coconut glaze. Pineapple-Coconut Breakfast Bread This is just as delicious as it looks. It’s moist and sweet, with the bread and pineapple chunks just melting in your mouth. Topped off with the coconut glaze, this is honestly worth the price of breakfast alone. We were also given a fresh fruit plate at the start of the meal. Fresh Fruit Plate with POG Juice On the plate were juicy pieces of pineapple, cantaloupe, watermelon, and grapes. All of the fruit was fresh and sweet like it had just been picked from the palm trees outside. Fresh Fruit Plate It’s nice to mix in a little bit of produce into the carby, meaty goodness that is the rest of the breakfast. Speaking of, our Breakfast Skillet arrived not long after the fruit plate and drinks. ‘Ohana Breakfast Platter The platter contains servings of Hua Paka (scrambled eggs), Pua’a (pork in the form of sausage and ham with pineapple compote), biscuits, Uala Kahiki (Island-style fried potatoes), and character waffles. This is one of the best things about the Best Friends Breakfast at ‘Ohana — the food all comes to you! This means you don’t have to worry about wrangling kids and getting up and down to go to a buffet. It’s still all you care to enjoy — if you want more of anything, including fruit and bread, you can just ask your server! It takes a lot of the stress and chaos out of a buffet meal. Let’s take a closer look at that skillet shall we? Scrambled Eggs The eggs were hot, creamy, and fresh. While simple, they were cooked perfectly — a difficult task when scrambling eggs in bulk. The biscuit was tasty as well, flaky and buttery. (Pro tip — slice it open and make yourself a lil’ breakfast sammie with some eggs and ham.) Ham with Pineapple Compote Speaking of the ham, it was a real treat. We LOVED the pineapple compote as a sweet sauce on top. It balanced the salty, tender ham perfectly. Pork Sausage and Fried Potatoes But our favorites were the fried potatoes and pork sausage! The potatoes were crispy on the outside and tender on the inside. They also had a perfect blend of spice — with just a little heat from the pepper. We applauded these because, like eggs, breakfast taters are hard to perfect in large batches. The pork was also cooked nicely, with a crispy skin on the outside, and spicy pork on the inside. They wasn’t a ton of heat, so everyone should still enjoy, but just a great level of seasoning and flavor. Pork Sausage and Fried Potatoes And now, for the creme de la creme of Disney breakfast, and the real reason we go to character dining: WAFFLES. Mickey Waffle Is it just us, or do waffles taste better when they’re Mickey shaped? Or in this case, Mickey and STITCH shaped! Stitch Waffle And per usual, these waffles are fluffy golden perfection. Top them with the butter and syrup at the table, and we promise you’re in breakfast Heaven. Character Waffles With our autograph books a little fuller, and our bellies stuffed with carbs and meat, we declared this ‘Ohana breakfast a success. ‘Ohana Breakfast Overall: Once again, ‘Ohana proves itself to be a winner in quality food and experience. We love that the food comes to our table, which makes for a more relaxing character breakfast. Plus, we don’t have to worry about being up at the buffet and missing a character at our table. And speaking of the food, it’s VERY good. Sure, it’s simple breakfast items, but they are done VERY well. Plus, we are still dreaming of the Pineapple-Coconut Bread. …seriously. Overall, ‘Ohana is a great choice for a character breakfast. The food should please just about everyone, including your picky eaters, and it’s good quality breakfast classics. We love that the food AND the characters come to us — speaking of which, we love that Stitch is a featured character. The Polynesian is a convenient Monorail ride away from the Magic Kingdom, making it a top location as well. While the food may not be as fancy or destination-worthy as Topolino’s Terrace (which we loved), this is still a top Character Dining Experience for us. If you’re looking for a consistently delicious and fun character breakfast, especially if you’re a Stitch fan, make sure to put ‘Ohana on the top of your list! 14. We sure do love that sassy pixie who can rock a top knot like no other! World Premiere Food Court And ya know we just had to go searching for our fairy friend on our latest trip to Disney World today! That’s right — we’re seeking out the Tinker Bell Cupcake! While the Tinker Bell Cupcake isn’t new, it is very ELUSIVE! You see, we’ve found this treat previously at Disney’s All Star Music Resort, but she flew off before we could review her! Tinker Bell Cupcake But now she’s landed back at the World Premiere Food Court in Disney’s All Stars Movies Resort and we finally nabbed her! Tinker Bell Cupcake The Tinker Bell Cupcake is a super moist yellow cake with key lime buttercream icing while Tinker Bell’s signature hairdo made with lemon buttercream. It’s also dusted with edible glitter, sprinkles and a set of fairy wings made out of white chocolate. Tinker Bell Cupcake This new version is different from the Tinker Bell Cupcake that All Stars Music previously served which consisted of a chocolate cupcake with a key lime filling. Ain’t nothin’ chocolatey happening here folks! The key lime filling is missing in action — replaced with something else which you’ll see in a sec! Tinker Bell Cupcake You see, when we cut into the Tinker Bell Cupcake, a bunch of dark green sprinkles poured out — AS IF BY MAGIC! Hey, pixies are going to pixie dust everything, right? That’s just how they do. The citrusy flavor of the buttercream tasted great with the rich, dense yellow cake. Between the MASSIVE mound of tart buttercream and the cake, this was a total slam dunk for us! Tinker Bell Cupcake The Tinker Bell Cupcake costs $5.99 and she’s currently residing at All Stars Movies although we don’t know how long she’ll be around until she has to fly home to Pixie Hollow, so head there quickly if you wanna catch her! And if you’re looking for even more interesting cupcakes to try at Disney World today, check out the Samoa Cupcake at Disney Springs’ Sprinkles! 15. Magical moments happen every day at Disney Parks and today a very special moment took place at Epcot. Disney Legend and voice of Belle, Paige O’Hara surprised an audience at a showing of the new ‘Beauty and the Beast Sing-Along.’ Paige, who is also a featured artist at the Epcot International Festival of the Arts, shared how she loves greeting Guests and sharing stories in opening remarks with Walt Disney World Ambassador, Stephen Lim. They then started the tale as old as time by singing a few lines of “Belle” along with the audience. Paige’s artwork is on display at the Epcot International Festival of the Arts and she will be making appearances Jan. 24 – 27 from 12-2 p.m. and 4-6 p.m. Check out the official festival page for details. Along with the sing-along is a new exhibit inside Palais du Cinéma. ‘Tales as Old as Time: French Storytelling on Stage and Screen’ invites guests to explore six distinct gallery cases featuring a collection of costumes, music, artwork and more, all dedicated to the adaptation of French literature in cinema, theater, ballet and opera. The exhibit reinforces how French literature has inspired artists from around the globe, including those who created timeless Disney classics such as ‘Sleeping Beauty,’ ‘Cinderella’ and, of course, ‘Beauty and the Beast.’ Items on display from the Walt Disney Archives include a glass slipper from the live-action ‘Cinderella’ film and Belle’s costume from the live-action ‘Beauty and the Beast.’ Community arts organizations from Florida also contributed pieces to the exhibit. 21. Well, our afternoon just got A LOT more interesting! Face BEER?! That’s ’cause while we already knew you can get a picture of you on your coffee (a.k.a. Face Coffee) at select locations throughout Disney World, we just found out there’s FACE BEER! You can now get your mug (you’re sweet baby angel FACE, that is!) on a MUG…OF BEER! This is possibly the greatest invention since beer itself! While we spotted the Face Beer in Disney Springs today, we have a hunch the Face Beer only comes out at night (or late afternoon) because we’ve never seen it out during the morning or early afternoon visits. Ripples App The process is pretty much the same as Face Coffee! Simply take a selfie or select an existing image from your phone, then download the Ripples app to share it with the server. Ripples App In the interest of keeping our DFB reporters anonymity a secret, we asked a friendly passerby if we could borrow their likeness for a Face Beer. Is it weird to drink another person’s Face Beer? Yeah, we’re weren’t totally sure how this was going to go down, but luckily our new Face Beer friend gave us the thumbs up, so he’s going DOWN THE HATCH! Ripples App Besides getting your face on a foamy beer, you can also select other designs from the Ripples app! Like Albert Einstein for instance, because why not, you do YOU! Ripples App Now there is a stipulation for you folks who are putting on your shoes and getting ready tor run over to Disney Springs RIGHT THIS SEC to grab a Face Beer! Face Beer works best on beers that have a foamy head, like stouts and Guinness. American lagers and I.P.A.s are probably not your best bet if you wanna get your Face Beer in high def! Face Beer Face Beer costs $2 (plus the cost of your beer of choice!) Look for it near Raglan Road! Cheers! Check out the Face Coffee here!! 25. When we’re looking for a treat that is simply out of this world, we head straight on over to Batuu! Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge in Disney World Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge is always serving up some truly delicious (and unique!) treats. From the scrumptious Ronto Wrap, to Blue Milk (ya gotta try it at least once!), it’s easy to feel like you’ve truly stepped onto another planet when you visit the section of Hollywood Studios. And now, we’ve got another delicious addition to the menu over in Batuu, and this is the treat you’re looking for! Say hello to the new Black Spire Outpost Hot Chocolate! Now, this is not to be confused to the purple, sparkling version we found over in Disneyland — instead, this special hot chocolate holds a twist of its very own. Black Spire Hot Chocolate The Black Spire Hot Chocolate in Disney World is milk hot chocolate combined with hints of orange and spices. When we picked this up, it looked just like a regular ol’ hot chocolate. But, then we took a sip, and OH, BOY! Black Spire Hot Chocolate Appearances are deceiving with this one! While it doesn’t look like anything exciting, this hot chocolate is packed with flavor. Consistency-wise, the hot chocolate is very thick, almost like drinking straight chocolate without it being too rich. The spices and orange flavoring are both fairly light, but still come through in a pleasant way. Black Spire Hot Chocolate While you can also get a regular Hot Chocolate over on Batuu, with the current cold temps in Florida, this Black Spire Hot Chocolate was a very welcome surprise! We found it available for $3.79, or a snack credit, at Kat Saka’s Kettle in Galaxy’s Edge, but it’s also on the menu on Docking Bay 7 and Ronto’s Roasters. Speaking of Galaxy’s Edge, did you see that Millennium Falcon: Smuggler’s Run will now be accepting FastPass?! Read all about it here!
