If you need a java fix during your Flower & Garden Festival visit, head over to Joffery’s near Canada or Disney Traders and check out this year’s specialty coffees! Joffrey’s! The 2026 EPCOT International Flower and Garden Festival has officially started, and it has a LOT to offer. There are plenty of food booths with tasty items, unique topiaries to check out, merchandise to grab (of course), and even concerts to watch. But don’t let it overwhelm you; we’ve got you covered with everything you need to know. And now we’re heading to the Joffrey’s locations to check out this year’s coffee drinks! Is it worth a try? Let’s find out! Menu This time around, you’ll find the Festival coffees at two Joffrey’s locations — World Showcase in Canada and near Disney Traders. At the Canada Joffery’s, you can choose from two drinks. First, the Very Berry Matcha Latte is made with milk, strawberry syrup, and matcha, topped with whipped cream. Joffrey’s Coffee & Tea Menu Or, you can order the Dubai Chocolate Frozen Cappuccino, a frozen cappuccino featuring Joffrey’s Coffee with pistachio syrup topped with whipped cream and dark chocolate sauce. Joffrey’s Coffee & Tea Kiosk Menu And, at the Joffrey’s near Disney Traders, you’ll also find the Very Berry Matcha Latte. Drinks First, we grabbed the Very Berry Matcha Latte. This non-boozy version is made with milk, strawberry syrup, and matcha, topped with whipped cream for $7.19. You can make it a boozy drink by ordering it with Baileys Original Irish Cream Liqueur for $15.99. Now, matcha is an acquired taste, and not everyone loves it, but this drink has a more strawberry flavor than anything, just a little toned down by the matcha. So this is a great drink for someone new to matcha. Very Berry Matcha Latte The other festival special is the Dubai Chocolate Frozen Cappuccino, a frozen cappuccino featuring Joffrey’s Coffee with pistachio syrup topped with whipped cream and dark chocolate sauce for $7.99. This frozen drink can be made boozy with the addition of Kahlúa Coffee Liqueur for $15.99. This is another solidly good drink. You’ve got that nice mocha flavor paired with the dark chocolate. The pistachio was a little strong at first, but it mellowed out with each sip. Dubai Chocolate Frozen Cappuccino The flavors all really worked well together, so this one is another hit with us. If you love those Dubai chocolate flavors in coffee form, this one is a MUST. OVERALL Joffrey’s has knocked it out of the park with both of its festival drinks this year. You can’t go wrong with either, regardless of whether you’re craving matcha or a flavored coffee. That’s it for this booth, but there’s a LOT more where that came from! Disney Springs — under numerous names — has been one of the most popular spots on Disney property for going on 50 years, and is a go-to destination for guests whenever they visit the “Most Magical Place on Earth.” Disney Springs However, if you’re planning to go on a weekend, there are some things you need to keep in mind. Local Crowds While Disney Springs is often crowded with guests from Walt Disney World hotels during the week, weekends often bring in large numbers of Central Florida locals to its shopping, dining, and entertainment locations. That’s part of why the complex’s Lime Parking Garage has undergone a refurbishment during the opening months of 2026. Disney Springs crowds Brunch One of the major crowd draws at Disney Springs during weekends is brunch. Several Disney Springs eateries offer brunch menus on Saturdays and Sundays. Some of the most popular include: House of Blues (10:00-2:00 Sat/Sun): The music-infused eatery offers breakfast burritos and sandwiches, biscuits and gravy, grits, hash, and other Southern-influenced favorites. Wine Bar George (10:30-2:00 Sat/Sun): This establishment offers several brunch menus: Small Plates including hummus and mac & cheese bites, Brunch Boards of cheese and charcuterie, Main Plates including omelets, salmon, French Toast, and breakfast sandwiches, and sides and sweets. Art Smith Homecomin’ (9:00-1:00 Sat/Sun): One of our favorite Disney Springs restaurants offers brunch specials including doughnuts, French Toast, eggs, sandwiches, deviled eggs, and chicken & waffles. STK (11:00-3:00 Sat/Sun): STK offers egg dishes with pork belly and lobster, avocado toast, French Toast, omelets, and hot chicken. Summer House on the Lake (9:00-2:00 Sat/Sun): Summer House’s brunch specialties include breakfast burritos, tostadas, hash browns, and huevos rancheros. Raglan Road (10:00-3:00 Sat/Sun): This classic Irish pub offers both breakfast and lunch entrees on their Brunchy Brunchy and Brunchy Lunchy menus. ©Chef Art Smith’s Homecomin’ Restaurant Happy Hours! Moving on from brunch, there’s also the matter of happy hours. Multiple Disney Springs locations offer drink and food specials during the week, while others extend these offers to weekends. Knowing which deals are available on which days can help decide if you want to brave the weekend crowds or stick to weekdays. Frontera Cocina (Daily – 3:00 PM to 6:00 PM, featuring classic margaritas for $7 every Monday and $5 shots of tequila every Tuesday) House of Blues Restaurant & Bar ($2 off all bottled, canned, or draught beer; $7 house wine and well liquors; $9 margaritas, mules, and Long Island Iced Teas) Jaleo by José Andrés (Daily – 11:30 AM to 5:00 PM) STK Steakhouse (Monday through Friday – 2:30 PM to 6:30 PM, Saturday and Sunday – 2:30 PM to 5:30 PM Featuring specialty cocktails, select wine, and food for $3, $6, and $9). Summer House on the Lake (Monday through Friday – 3:00 PM to 6:00 PM) featuring a $10 martini, $5 glass of wine, $4 draft beer, and elevated bar bites (only available at the bar). Happy Hour menu Before you head to Disney Springs on a Saturday or a Sunday, be sure to keep these things in mind when making your plans. There’s perhaps no more beloved area of Disney World than EPCOT’s World Showcase, the World’s Fair-like collection of recreations of various countries around the world. Fan from Japan Pavilion Each pavilion celebrates the culture of the country it represents through attractions, architecture, cuisine, and –– our focus today — souvenirs! These country-specific items allow guests to bring home a part of the culture of the pavilion it’s from. Christmas Ornaments If you’re looking for Christmas ornaments, you need to head to the Germany Pavilion, as there are hundreds of traditional Christmas decorations to choose from, including the somewhat legendary Christmas pickle. Pickle Ornament Day of the Dead Skulls The Mexico pavilion offers a litany of handcrafted items on sale in the Plaza de los Amigos marketplace, including wooden figurines, clothing, musical instruments, and our personal favorite: Colorful glass skulls celebrating Dia de los Muertos, AKA the Day of the Dead. Quite a selection.. These are just a few of the fantastic souvenirs you can find shopping through World Showcase. Stay tuned to DFB for more on Disney’s merchandise offerings. It’s the first day of the 2026 EPCOT International Flower & Garden Festival, and we’re here for a full day of fun! EPCOT Flower and Garden Festival We’re here to eat our way through the Outdoor Kitchens, shop all the new merchandise, and check out the fun entertainment and activities. But we’re not the only ones! Some crowds have gathered on the opening day of the festival. Park Opening When we arrived at the park to kick off our day, we found that there were a LOT of people here early! We all had the same idea of rope-dropping the festival. Even the Early Entry line for guests at select hotels to get in 30 minutes early was backed up. Early entry crowds See, there’s Disney day crowded, and then there’s festival crowded. We’ve been doing this for so long, and yet we still get shocked by how many people are at the festivals right at rope-drop. That being said, it really was super busy, and this bright and early! Multiple lines As soon as you entered the park and made your way past Spaceship Earth, you were shoulder to shoulder with guests! You always have to plan for a big crowd like this for a festival’s opening day, yet we still feel like you can never fully prepare for all these people. What a big crowd! This year, they tried a new three-lane system for non-resort rope drop. The right-hand line was for guests getting to the attractions. Then they had a line for the exclusive pin release in the middle. The left-hand line was for guests who wanted to get their hands on exclusive Flower and Garden merchandise. Three different lines! When we got here, Cast Members were saying they would be walking guests over. We were already in our three lines, which were divided by tape on the ground. It’s funny because the only lines that were long when we got in line were for the attractions, and we’re not sure that we’ve experienced a need for this type of organization in recent years. This system is definitely trying to be helpful for merchandise rope droppers to get to the store more easily through all of the guests heading to attractions. Following the Cast Member to the three different lines! In our opinion, the result of this was chaotic, and some people were not pleased. When the Cast Member started walking people forward, all the lines combined. There were Cast Members guiding people to the left, but they were pointing all the way over into World Discovery. Not to mention, those little lines of tape on the ground meant nothing when the Walt announcement advised that the park was now open. Walking with the crowd! That’s a wrap on our tour of crowds for the first day of the festival! For more updates from our day, follow us on social media and subscribe to our YouTube channel. The Flower & Garden Festival has hit EPCOT, and the whole park is decked out with bright and colorful flowers, with tons of topiaries and a bunch of people. Wait, a bunch of people? We’re in the merchandise rope-drop line! The first day of every EPCOT festival always welcomes so many guests, happy to get in on the fun. Because of these crowds, Disney decided to try a new system, and well, it didn’t quite work. At first, we loved this system! It totally made sense to have anything organized so that Cast Members can lead groups to their location. Unfortunately, this didn’t quite work. The lanes As soon as the clock struck 9 AM, people split across the lines and broke the system that was in place. Yep, that didn’t last long. It’s so crowded! We see Disney work on new processes from time to time for things like exclusive pin releases and rope dropping. Sometimes it takes time for everyone to learn the systems and for Disney to figure out the ideal system where folks know where they’re going and can properly be led to the next area. We’ll keep an eye out to see if Disney uses a similar system for the EPCOT Food and Wine Festival, which starts in August. We’re here at the opening day of Flower and Garden, bringing you ALL the details you need to know before heading there yourself. From reviewing all the food and seeing what the festival has to offer, make sure you keep following Disney Food Blog for more updates. I’ve been going to Disney World for decades, and that also means I have been spending money on souvenirs for decades. I’m sharing my favorite tips to hack your vacation when it comes to souvenirs. We’ll just window shop…maybe… Souvenir shopping at Disney World can sneak up on you. You go in with a plan, a set budget, and every intention of sticking to it, and then something catches your eye. Before you know it, that “just one thing” rule feels long forgotten. If you’re ready to shop smarter without feeling deprived, we’ve put together practical tips that make it easier to stay within your budget while still bringing home something special. DISCLOSURE: This post may contain affiliate links, meaning when you click the links and make a purchase, we receive a commission. Shipping Items Home Disney offers the option to ship purchases directly to your home, and for many guests, it’s a game-changer. Shipping eliminates the need to cram fragile or bulky items into luggage and reduces the stress of traveling with souvenirs. This is especially helpful for items like artwork, home décor, or multiple purchases made over several days. While there is a fee, many travelers find the convenience well worth the cost. When you head to check out, let the Cast Member know you are interested in shipping this item home, and they will have you fill out some paperwork. You can get your items mailed directly to your home! Check Out Resort Only Merch Many guests never realize that some of Disney World’s best merchandise isn’t inside the parks at all. Resort gift shops often carry items you won’t find anywhere else, including apparel, home goods, and resort-branded souvenirs that feel more exclusive. Shopping at resorts is also calmer and less crowded, making it easier to browse thoughtfully instead of grabbing something in a rush. I love collecting a souvenir from each resort that I stay in, whether it’s an ornament or a resort-themed pair of Minnie ears — it helps me remember my stay there! BouTiki Buying Items Before Your Trip One of the best ways to save money and cut down on the intense desire to purchase the expensive souvenirs in the park is to purchase souvenirs before your trip even begins! Thanks to the Internet and the number of stores around that carry Disney merchandise, you can find tons of Disney merchandise and order it to have on your trip. The temptation as an adult to use your own money on that pin or plush that you have your eyes on is strong, and you make the final decision at the end of the day, but if you already treated yourself to cheaper souvenirs before the trip began, or you’re opening them throughout the trip to keep yourself in check, it’s a great strategy. Again, this also works great for kids — instead of buying those $20+ bubble wands, grab them a cheaper one from Amazon and surprise them with it when they start to ask for the one in the parks! Bubble Wands Here is Where to Find Unique Souvenirs If you’re looking for souvenirs that don’t scream “theme park,” EPCOT’s World Showcase is the best place to shop. Many pavilions feature items sourced from or inspired by their respective countries, including home goods, snacks, beauty products, and handcrafted pieces. These gifts often feel more authentic and meaningful than standard Disney merchandise and make excellent presents or keepsakes. World Showcase shopping is ideal for guests who want something distinctive and memorable. I love the wide range of items that I can find in Japan’s Mitsukoshi store, and China’s House of Goods store has unique snack flavors to try! Mitsukoshi Using Gift Cards One of the most effective ways we’ve gotten ourselves to stay on budget in Disney World is instead of using our credit or debit card, we’ll get ourselves a Disney gift card and place the amount we’re allowed to spend on souvenirs on it. This means that when that gift card runs out, that’s it! View Gift Cards on Target Gift Card! This is also especially helpful if you’re traveling with kiddos who have a souvenir budget and they really want to be in charge of it themselves. It’s a great way to teach them (and a reminder for ourselves, if we’re being honest) about pacing yourself and being selective with your money. You can even get discounted gift cards at places like Target or Sam’s Club! View on Sam’s Club Disney Gift Cards Utilize Mobile Checkout Mobile checkout is one of Disney World’s most underrated shopping tools. Available in many larger stores, it allows guests to scan items, pay through the My Disney Experience app, and skip the traditional checkout line entirely. This can save significant time, especially during peak hours or at popular locations like World of Disney. If you know you want an item and just need to grab it quickly, mobile checkout makes souvenir shopping far more efficient. I love using it as a price checker tool as well for items that don’t have a price on the tag. Is this one of EPCOT’s most immersive restaurants…or just overrated? Let’s eat! San Angel Inn Restaurante has long been a popular dining spot inside the Mexico Pavilion, drawing visitors in with its unique atmosphere and prime location along the Gran Fiesta Tour ride route. But while the setting is undeniably memorable, opinions on the food and overall experience tend to vary. We took a closer look at what dining here is really like (from the ambiance to the new menu items) to help you decide if this restaurant deserves a spot on your upcoming EPCOT visit. Atmosphere Stepping into San Angel Inn Restaurante feels like leaving EPCOT altogether and wandering into a quiet evening in a small Mexican pueblo. The restaurant is tucked inside the Mexico Pavilion and is permanently set to twilight, with soft lighting, glowing lanterns, and the gentle ambiance of a warm night by the water. San Angel Inn Visitors are invited to dine alongside the Gran Fiesta Tour canal, where boats drift past throughout the meal, adding movement and a uniquely immersive backdrop. The combination of dim lighting, earthy textures, and colorful village façades creates an intimate, almost romantic setting that immediately slows the pace of your day — a welcome contrast to the bustling energy outside the pavilion. The setting But enough about the restaurant — what’s on the menu here?! Menu San Angel Inn Restaurante offers a menu inspired by traditional Mexican cuisine, with a focus on classic flavors presented in an elevated, sit-down dining format. You’ll find a mix of familiar dishes like tacos, enchiladas, and tamales alongside heartier entrees such as steak, chicken, and seafood preparations. Food menu The menu leans more traditional than adventurous, making it approachable for a wide range of diners, while still offering enough variety to feel distinct from the quick-service options in the pavilion, many of which are popular reasons anyone would choose to dine here in the first place. There’s also an extensive drinks menu that includes a variety of margaritas, cocktails, beer, and wine. Drinks menu And now, onto the main event — the food! Drinks To drink, we picked up the Clasica for $18. This drink features Pasote blanco tequila, Alma Finca orange liqueur, lime juice, agave, and a salt rim. It’s a standard margarita, so it’s one of the safer options, but it’s very smooth, delicious, and the taste is familiar. Clasica There are more unique margaritas available, but if you want a solid classic margarita, this is your best bet. Eats First up, we grabbed the Gordita for $16. This is made of a thick Corn Masa pocket filled with chorizo and potato, topped with queso fresco, crema mexicana, Pea tendrils, and ranchera salsa. Although this is listed as an appetizer, it also makes for a good entree. The flavor is perfect, but if you’re anti-cilantro, make sure you let your server know that because there is cilantro on top. Gordita We did think the masa was almost a little too thick, but that’s a small complaint. The flavor, though, really hit just right, although we didn’t taste the pea tendrils. The ranchero salsa, though, served on the side? Don’t skip out on that. It’s almost like a tomatillo sauce, with a nice, low heat. Nice thick masa We were pretty hungry, so we also picked up the Queso Fundido for $16. This dish serves up melted Monterey Jack Cheese topped with chorizo, poblano peppers, and onions, served with flour tortillas. The chorizo in this is some of the best in Disney World. The queso was nice and pliable, and the peppers and onions added a lot of great extra flavor. You can basically scoop what you want into your tortilla and eat up. Queso fundido We got four delicious tortillas to scoop all that goodness into. We’ll say that if you’re ordering an appetizer at San Angel Inn, this should be it. It’s consistently good. Tortillas For our main dish, we had our sights set on the new Arrachera Wagyu for $62. This dish consists of100% American Wagyu flank steak with chipotle butter, roasted potatoes, grilled zucchini, oyster mushrooms, and a 3-pepper salsa. You also have the option to add shrimp to it for an additional cost. This is probably the most expensive thing on the menu, but we’re happy to report that you get a LOT for that price. This could honestly probably feed two people. The steak is prepared beautifully, then you’ve got that chipotle butter that adds some flavor, as well as the 3-pepper salsa, which offers some heat. The flavors just melded with the meat. Arrachera Wagyu The meat is well-sliced with nice, thin pieces, and you can request it cooked medium or medium-rare (we went with medium-rare). If you’re worried about spices, there is a bit of a kick, but it doesn’t last. Meat is cooked perfectly And to round out everything, we HAD to try out a dessert! So we settled on the Pan de Elote Tres Leches for $12. It’s made of milk-soaked sponge cake topped with sweet corn ice cream and toasted almonds. The cake is a solidly good cake. But we recommend cutting the cake in half to get that milky taste with every bite. The almond shavings were a bit of an odd choice, but they add a nice nutty flavor and texture. Pan de elote tres leches What sets this dessert apart is the sweet corn ice cream. It adds another level of flavor to it. Our server told us this was the most popular dessert, and we can certainly see why. It hits on all levels. It’s popular for a reason So, would we dine at San Angel Inn again? Nosh or Not This Disney World restaurant is a must-visit if… The Atmosphere Is One of the Most Immersive in EPCOT. San Angel Inn’s setting is truly unique. Dining in perpetual twilight beside the Gran Fiesta Tour ride creates a calm, transportive experience you won’t find anywhere else in the park. For those who value ambiance just as much as the food (especially those looking for a slower, more relaxing meal), this alone can make San Angel Inn worth the reservation. It’s a Comfortable, Air-Conditioned Escape. Located entirely indoors within the Mexico Pavilion, San Angel Inn offers a welcome break from EPCOT’s heat and crowds. The dim lighting, cool air, and quiet atmosphere make it an ideal spot for a midday recharge or a relaxing dinner, especially during warmer months or busy festival seasons. The Drink Menu Is a Standout. Even for those who may not be seeking bold or modern Mexican cuisine, the beverage selection is a major draw. From classic margaritas and tequila flights to Mexican beers and specialty cocktails, San Angel Inn’s drink menu adds significant appeal and enhances the overall dining experience. You should skip this Disney World spot if… The Menu Can Feel Familiar for the Price. While the dishes are rooted in traditional Mexican cuisine, hungry diners looking for bold, modern flavors or highly adventurous offerings may find the menu somewhat predictable. For the price point, some diners may expect more complexity or standout flavors compared to other EPCOT table-service restaurants. Low Lighting Isn’t for Everyone. The permanently dim, nighttime atmosphere is a huge draw for many folks, but it can also be a drawback. Reading the menu and seeing your food clearly can be challenging in the dimmer ambiance, which may frustrate diners who prefer a brighter, more energetic setting. It’s Not the Best Choice for a Quick Meal. San Angel Inn is designed to be a slower, sit-down dining experience. Those with limited park time, tight schedules, or who want a faster meal may feel that the time commitment isn’t worth it — especially when EPCOT offers plenty of nearby quick-service alternatives. Overall At the end of the day, San Angel Inn Restaurante remains one of EPCOT’s most beloved table-service hidden gems — not because it’s the flashiest meal in the park, but because of its ambience, nostalgia, and dependable comfort food. If you’re visiting EPCOT and crave a moment of respite from the crowds and Florida sun, few spots deliver a vibe as immersive as dining under the perpetual twilight beside the gentle canal of the Mexico Pavilion. The menu leans into classic Mexican favorites with approachable flavors that are reliable rather than groundbreaking, and the drink list (especially the margaritas and tequila flights) frequently steals the show for many diners. That said, it isn’t the best fit for every guest: if you’re after bold, modern cuisine or have limited time in the park, there are flashier or faster options nearby. But for those who want a relaxed sit-down meal with a side of atmosphere and character, San Angel Inn remains a strong choice. Our full spread Whether you’re unwinding after a long morning of park touring or carving out time for a slower dinner with friends or family, this restaurant delivers solid food in a setting you won’t forget — and that combination alone makes it worth considering on your next EPCOT visit! Disney made plenty of waves in February, but one particular announcement was the size of a tsunami. Josh D’Amaro at Destination D23, 2023 ©Disney Despite being the year’s shortest month, February was not lacking in big Disney news. Whether it was theme park expansion progress or info regarding the returns of beloved offerings, Disney had us on the edge of our seats all month long. HOWEVER, one announcement was so big that even folks who don’t follow Disney closely took notice. Perhaps the biggest Disney news of the last several years, Disney announced — officially — on February 3rd, 2026, that Josh D’Amaro will be The Walt Disney Company’s next CEO. ©Disney Considered the favorite to land the position for quite some time, the former Disney Experiences Chairman was elected to the position of Chief Executive Officer in a unanimous vote. The announcement came on the heels of the company’s earnings call on February 2nd. D’Amaro is currently scheduled to officially take the role on March 18th, 2026 (the same date as The Walt Disney Company’s Annual Shareholders Meeting). After the meeting, D’Amaro is expected to be appointed a director. ©Disney Having been with Disney for 28 years — during which he oversaw tremendous global expansions — D’Amaro was selected based on the “combination of inspiring leadership and innovation, a keen eye for strategic growth opportunities, and a deep passion for the Disney brand and its people, according to James Gorman, Chairman of The Walt Disney Company Board of Directors. Current CEO Bob Iger said of D’Amaro, “He has an instinctive appreciation of the Disney brand, and a deep understanding of what resonates with our audiences, paired with the rigor and attention to detail required to deliver some of our most ambitious projects. His ability to combine creativity with operational excellence is exemplary, and I am thrilled for Josh and the company.” ©Disney In conjunction with this announcement, Disney revealed that Co-Chairman of Disney Entertainment, Dana Walden, has been named President and Chief Creative Officer of The Walt Disney Company, also effective March 18th. Iger also showed approval of the decision, saying, “Given that creativity is at the heart of everything Disney does, she is a wonderful choice to serve in this new leadership role. In the years since Dana joined Disney, she has accumulated great knowledge about the many facets of our businesses and brands, and is very well prepared to be President and Chief Creative Officer.” Dana Walden ©Disney Iger served as CEO and Chairman from 2005 to 2020, Executive Chairman of the Board through 2021, and returned to the CEO position in late 2022, replacing controversial CEO Bob Chapek. His contract was set to expire through 2026, but he will abdicate his role much earlier than expected. With that said, there was plenty of smoke surrounding Disney’s imminent CEO search in recent weeks, and the announcement and its timing weren’t all too surprising. Finding the next CEO had always been a top priority. Iger had been fairly transparent about the importance of the role’s succession since returning, and a planning committee was created to find his replacement. D’Amaro always seemed to be an obvious candidate. If you’ve ever stood in a 45-minute security line at the airport thinking, “There has to be a better way,” I am here to tell you: There absolutely is. TSA PreCheck If you travel to Disney World, Disneyland, or pretty much anywhere more than once a year, TSA PreCheck can be a TOTAL game-changer. This airport security service offers shorter lines and fewer things you need to remove from your bags and clothes when going through a checkpoint. It’s so much easier than the regular standby line — but it comes at a price. If you’re looking to save on a TSA PreCheck membership, there are some non-TSA programs that offer this service FREE OF CHARGE! Normally, TSA PreCheck costs between $76.75 and $85 (plus renewal fees based on the provider you selected every five years), which honestly isn’t that bad. With that said, you may already have a credit card or be part of a travel membership that gives you access to TSA PreCheck for free! Let’s break it down… ©AP Transportation Security Administration PreCheck is a trusted traveler program that allows pre-approved, low-risk travelers to use expedited security lanes at hundreds of airports across the United States. Once approved, you’ll get a Known Traveler Number (KTN) that you add to your airline reservations — and then reap the benefits. The easiest way to avoid paying for this service is by having the right credit card. ©Capital One Many travel-focused credit cards offer a statement credit that covers the full cost of TSA PreCheck (or Global Entry, which includes TSA PreCheck). Typically, you get reimbursed once every 4–5 years — which (as I previously mentioned) is when you’re due for renewal. Essentially, as long as you’re a cardmember, you may never need to pay for TSA PreCheck. Some popular cards that often offer this perk include the following: Chase Sapphire Reserve Capital One Venture Rewards Credit Card The Platinum Card from American Express Citi Prestige Card United Explorer Card Delta SkyMiles Platinum American Express Card Simply apply for TSA PreCheck (or Global Entry) online and in-person, pay with your eligible credit card, and receive a statement credit covering the application fee. Of note, many of these cards have annual fees, but if you’re already a member or plan on using these travel cards to earn rewards back, those fees will pay off in the long run. ©Chase You can also apply for Global Entry instead. U.S. Customs and Border Protection offers Global Entry, which includes TSA PreCheck automatically. If your credit card reimburses Global Entry (which many do), you’re essentially getting both programs for free. Global Entry is especially useful for cruises and international flights. You’ll get expedited customs entry and faster security screening. ©Global Entry It’s also worth mentioning that if you’re active duty military or part of certain government programs, you may already have access to faster security screening benefits. Active duty U.S. military members can use their DoD ID number as their Known Traveler Number, and some federal employees may qualify through agency programs. It never hurts to check with your HR department to see if you qualify. Magic Kingdom Occasionally, banks and loyalty programs run promotions covering TSA PreCheck application fees. These aren’t frequent offerings, but they do pop up from time to time — especially during peak travel seasons. In the past, we’ve seen deals come from airline and hotel loyalty programs/credit cards, as well as bank account sign-up bonuses. It’s not guaranteed, but if you’re already planning to open a new card or account, keep an eye out. TSA lines at MCO PreCheck can save you serious time and sanity, so looking into the program — whether you’re willing to pay or not — is definitely worth your time. Chances are, we’ve all been there: You find your seat on the airplane, get as cozy as you can, and put your headphones on — only to be met with a sound overpowering whatever it is you’re listening to. That’s right — someone is listening to something OUT LOUD on the airplane. ©United Airlines It looks like that exact act — listening to something out loud — might be banned on one major airline soon. United Airlines recently updated its policy to potentially ban passengers who play audio or video without headphones. On February 27th, United Airlines made a change to its contract of carriage, which includes the legally binding terms passengers agree to when purchasing a ticket on their flights. The changes revealed an addition to rule 21, the section on “refusal of transport.” ©United Airlines The airline writes in this section that it has the “right to refuse transport on a permanent or temporary basis or…remove [passengers] from the aircraft at any point” for several reasons, which now includes “passengers who fail to use headphones while listening to audio or video content.” We don’t know about you, but that sounds like a rule we can get behind! ©Amazon The policy goes on to outline that any passenger who engages in the act and causes any “loss, damage, or expense of any kind” to the airlines is responsible for reimbursing the company for these losses. The rule is added to 21 other regulations in the refusal of transport section. There are additional removable offenses, including passengers who are barefoot or improperly clothed, and passengers who refuse to end voice or video calls when the airplane doors have closed. ©United Airlines If passengers forget their headphones, the airline offers a free, basic wired pair, according to United’s in-flight entertainment page on their website. This change makes United the first major carrier in the U.S. to officially make a legally binding rule about headphone use on airplanes, though other carriers might still instruct passengers to turn off their volume. ©Getty Images As far as other airlines go, Delta advises its passengers to “please use earbuds or headphones with any personal electronic device” for “the comfort of everyone around you.” Southwest says, “headphones are required whenever a passenger is listening to any audio,” but it is not legally binding in their contract of carriage. ©Southwest Airlines We’ll be on the lookout for more updates from United Airlines and beyond.
