It’s time to play the music! It’s time to light the lights! It’s time to create some adorable Muppets-themed treats tonight! ©Disney Family It’s the most sensational, inspirational, celebrational, muppetational ice cream cones that are almost too cute to eat! Disney+ just released a new Muppets Now show that takes our favorite classic Muppets characters and drops them into the modern era. Now, Disney Family created an ice cream recipe that you can whip up while you enjoy an episode of Muppets Now! Gather Kermie and the gang because these ice cream concoctions are sure to hit the spot! Ingredients Coconut Whipped Cream 2 15-oz. cans coconut cream 2 teaspoons vanilla extract 1 teaspoon vanilla extract 4 sugar cones Yellow pull ‘n’ peel licorice candy (I found this color in a strawberry-flavored variety pack) Miss Piggy Strawberry ½ lb. fresh strawberries, cut in half 1 cup coconut whipped cream 8 large sprinkle eyes with eyelashes Pink, bright white, and blue candy melt wafers 7 oz. sweetened condensed coconut milk 1 teaspoon vanilla extract ¼ cup chocolate cereal (plus more for serving) 4 mini pink gumballs 8 Tootsie Rolls ©Disney Family Fozzie Bear Chocolate 2 tablespoons unsweetened cocoa powder ¼ cup chocolate cereal (plus more for serving) 4 sugar cones 8 standard-size sprinkle eyes Pink, red, and light cocoa candy melt wafers 7 oz. sweetened condensed coconut milk 1 teaspoon vanilla extract 4 sugar cones Black, pink, and red candy melt wafers ©Disney Family Kermit Matcha 1 ½ teaspoons matcha powder 1 cup coconut whipped cream 8 large white gumballs ©Disney Family Helpful Tip All cutting should be done by an adult (with adult supervision when using the blender). Refrigerate the coconut cream the night before using it. If the coconut whipped cream becomes too stiff, you can add a little of the liquid from the can of coconut cream. If it is too loose, try adding cornstarch or arrowroot flour, 1 Tbsp. at a time, until it reaches the right consistency (it will set more once chilled). If your Tootsie Rolls are hard to mold, you can soften them by heating for 2-5 seconds in the microwave. Store leftover coconut whipped cream in an airtight container in the refrigerator. ©Disney Family Directions Transfer the mixing bowl and whisk attachment of a stand or a handheld mixer to the freezer to chill for 15 minutes. Scoop just the solid part from both cans of refrigerated coconut cream into your chilled mixing bowl (reserving the liquid in case you need it later). Beat on medium-high speed for 1 minute, then add the vanilla extract and beat again for 1 more minute or until smooth (being careful not over-mix or else the coconut cream may separate). If your whipped cream is too loose or too stiff, see the helpful tips above for suggestions. Transfer the whipped coconut cream to the refrigerator (it will set more once chilled). Transfer the whipped coconut cream to the refrigerator (it will set more once chilled). Time to turn it into ice cream! For each flavor, combine the condensed coconut milk, vanilla extract, and flavor mix (strawberries, matcha powder, or cocoa powder) in a blender until smooth and combined. Transfer to a large mixing bowl, gently fold in ½ cup of the whipped cream, and then fold in the other half until completely mixed in. Pour the mixture into an airtight, freezer-safe container and smooth the top with a spoon. For Fozzie Bear, stir in the ¼ cup of chocolate cereal. Cover and freeze overnight. You can make all of the decorations in advance so they are ready to add to the ice cream once it’s set. To create Kermit, transfer the black, pink, and red candy wafers to microwave-safe bowls, and microwave for 30 seconds each, at 50% power. Stir, and continue to microwave in 30-second intervals until smooth. Use a toothpick dipped into the melted chocolate to draw Kermit’s mouth onto wax paper, using the image as a guide. You can also draw his pupils onto the gumballs (or create them separately and add when set with more melted chocolate). Set aside. To make Fozzie Bear, unwrap 2 Tootsie Rolls and use your thumb and pointer finger to squish one into a flat square (for the top of his hat), and the other into a flat rectangle (for the brim of the hat). Use melted chocolate to connect the two pieces. Melt the pink, red, and light cocoa candy wafers, like you did for Kermit. Using a toothpick, draw Fozzie’s mouth onto wax paper with the red and pink. Draw Fozzie’s ears and eyebrows with the light cocoa. Use a little of the pink to draw Fozzie’s eyelids onto the top of each candy sprinkle. Set aside. To make Miss Piggy, melt the pink and white candy wafers together to create a light pink shade. Use this to draw her ears and snout onto wax paper. Add pink to the center of each ear. Use more melted pink to color in her eyelids on the sprinkles, and use the melted blue wafers to add color to her eyes. Set aside. Once you are ready to decorate the ice cream, unwrap the licorice and separate the yellow strands. Use kitchen scissors to cut varying lengths to give Miss Piggy bangs or any hairdo you would like. Remove the ice cream from the freezer about 10-15 minutes before scooping and decorating. Add 1-2 scoops per cone, place the cone in a bowl, and add your candy decorations. Enjoy! ©Disney Family We can’t wait to switch on Disney+ and crack a few jokes with Fozzie Bear! This ice cream cone recipe is the perfect way to spend your night-in binging Disney+! Craving more? Magic Kingdom and Animal Kingdom officially reopened on July 11th, and Disney’s Hollywood Studios along EPCOT welcomed back guests on July 15th. EPCOT Over the weekend, Disney World announced all four theme parks would be undergoing a change to their park hours. Beginning September 8th, the parks will be closing earlier than when they first reopened. The new park hours for EPCOT will be 11AM-7PM, reduced from the previous hours of 11AM-9PM. For most guests, there should still be enough time to ride EPCOT’s attractions and enjoy several menu items from the Taste of EPCOT International Food and Wine Festival. For EPCOT After 4 Annual Passholders, however, Disney World shutting down earlier will take a big chunk of their time away. 2020 Food and Wine Festival Therefore, Disney World has come up with a solution for EPCOT evening APs. Starting September 8th, EPCOT After 4 Passholders will be able to use their passes starting at 2PM instead of 4PM— that’s two extra hours of FUN! Soarin’ So technically this means EPCOT After 4 passes are now actually EPCOT After 2 passes, but Disney is still calling them EPCOT After 4 passes, for now, FYI! After chatting with a Cast Member, we were also able to confirm that this change won’t be a permanent one. We will let you know when the pass reverts back, so stay tuned. And in the meantime, enjoy EPCOT! Read our FULL REVIEW of EVERY food booth at Taste of EPCOT International Food and Wine Festival here! Are you an EPCOT After 4 Annual Passholder? Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort recently reopened at Walt Disney World — the first of the Moderate resorts to reopen since the closure earlier this year. With its centralized location and relaxing island vibe, this resort sets a calypso tone for a vacation within a vacation. Caribbean Beach Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort is a sprawling resort with lush tropical landscaping, a colorful theme, and a variety of recreational activities. The centerpiece of the resort, Barefoot Bay, is a 45-acre lake surrounded by a mile-long promenade dotted with running trails and small white sandy beaches. Although swimming is not permitted, there are hammocks where you can lounge after a day in the parks and watch the beautiful Florida sun set each evening. Scroll down to check out an exclusive offer for Disney Food Blog readers! Our friends at Small World Vacations have been working tirelessly to help their guests prepare for their Disney vacations and keep them up-to-date on the changes at Walt Disney World, and today they’re sharing what you need to know when planning your Disney World vacation at Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort! Guest Rooms at Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort Guest rooms are nestled into five villages that are situated around the shores of the Barefoot Bay. The villages are named after Caribbean islands (natch) — Trinidad, Barbados, Martinique, Aruba, and Jamaica. Rooms feature two Queen beds, a King bed, or two Queen beds and a child-size pull down bed, and can accommodate up to five guests depending on the bedding options. Rest Your Weary Feet!! If your little pirates are on the hunt for some swashbuckling action, check out the Pirate-themed rooms in the Trinidad section. Between the nautical details and pirate ship-shaped beds, you’ll be immersed in your own tropical adventure. Old Port Royale, Dining, and Activities The spirit of the Caribbean is alive and thriving at Old Port Royale, the resort’s main building. This “port of entry” is where guests check in, and is the hub for dining and shopping options. Caribbean Beach Resort Centertown Market is the resort’s quick service dining location. Currently, guests will find physical distancing markers in areas where guests may need to queue and directional arrows to help keep traffic moving smoothly in the quick service dining spot. Centertown Market Sebastian’s Bistro is the resort’s table service restaurant. Currently, Sebastian’s Bistro remains closed. Guests can also enjoy quick service dining at Spyglass Grill located in the Trinidad Village area. Spyglass Grill also remains closed at the resort. You can pick up souvenirs and supplies at Calypso Trading Post. Just a few steps away from Old Port Royale, you’ll find Banana Cabana, an open air pool bar and favorite among adult guests. At this relaxed and friendly hangout, you can enjoy quick eats and specialty cocktails. Banana Cabana is currently open, and guests will find QR codes for the menu and social distancing signage. Desert Pear at Caribbean Beach Club This resort boasts six quiet pools, plus a main feature pool that many consider one of the best on Disney property. A Spanish citadel architecture features water cannons, zero-depth entry, and a little kids’ shipwreck play area where a barrel periodically dumps a deluge of water. Older kids can climb a spiral staircase to the top of a turret for an 82-foot trip down the larger slide and through the fortress wall! Caribbean Beach Pool Why You’ll Want to Stay at Caribbean Beach This Year Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort has a special feature that no other Disney resort can claim – its very own island, Caribbean Cay. On this tropical oasis, you’ll discover picnic tables, hammocks, play areas, covered swings and walking paths. Caribbean Cay While Caribbean Cay is open to guests currently, the playground area for the kids is closed. Skyliner at Caribbean Beach Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort is a main hub for the Disney Skyliner with transportation to Disney’s Hollywood Studios, EPCOT, Disney’s Art of Animation Resort, Disney’s Pop Century Resort, and Disney’s Riviera Resort. Currently, only one traveling party (up to 10 people) is permitted per cabin, and running times have adjusted according to the opening times for the theme parks. Caribbean Beach is the only moderate hotel that offers an alternate to bus transportation to the theme parks. Seating at Caribbean Beach Right next door to Disney’s Caribbean Beach is Disney’s Riviera Resort, the newest Disney Vacation Club Resort. While Caribbean Beach Resort guests cannot pool hop here, they do have access to other select amenities – including the European inspired dining options at this upscale property. Topolino’s Terrace – Flavors of the Riviera is a breathtaking rooftop dining experience and is one of only two character dining experiences currently available on Disney property. Character Postcard Disney has created a recipe for a fantastic Disney Vacation – just combine some island vibes, tropical eats and drinks, a chill hangout, lush landscaping, Skyliner gondola rides, toss them in a blender and give it a good mix…you have the specialty resort of the day: Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort. The Downsides… But there ARE a few downsides to choosing Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort. First, be aware that the hotel buildings do not have elevators. If you have any mobility issues in your party — or huge strollers, lots of luggage, or anything else that could make it difficult to traverse one or two flights of stairs — be sure to request a first floor room! Second, the resort is HUGE. So if you’d like to be close to a skyliner station or the main food locations, be sure to note those requests when you book, or call the hotel five days before you arrive to make sure the requests are noted. It’s the spookiest time of the year, and we have a whole NEW type of Halloween merch to love. ©Disney We’re certainly bummed that we won’t be living it up with the villains and ghouls at Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party this year, but that doesn’t mean we’re not going to celebrate Halloween in the most Disney way possible. We’ve already been gearing up with a ton of spooky merchandise, and now Disney gave us a sneak peek at some more merch — Halloween Face Masks! On top of washing your hands frequently, using the hand sanitizer stations, and keeping those masks on, there are even MORE ways to be extra cautious when visiting the theme parks. Cinderella Castle Here are our top ten recommendations to keep in mind when exercising caution in Disney World during this very strange time! Don’t let your guard down just because you’re in Disney World. Disney has a reputation for being one of the safest places to visit under normal circumstances, and they have certainly made every effort to keep that accolade during these unprecedented times. That said, it’s important to go into your Disney World vacation with a careful mindset. Health and Safety Signage Disney World is doing A LOT to make sure you and your travel party stay safe, but that doesn’t mean you can let your guard down. Health Signage Keep in mind the basic essentials when visiting Disney World: keep your mask on, wash and sanitize your hands frequently, and practice physical distancing everywhere you go. Is Disney World safe to visit right now? Read our thoughts here! Take advantage of the new protocols Disney has put in place. Disney has added a lot of NEW features to make guests feel even safer and to promote physical distancing. There is ample signage throughout the parks and resorts to remind guests of the new policies in place, and Cast Members are ready to answer any questions you may have. Cast Member There are also those new handwashing and sanitizer stations EVERYWHERE! You should have no problem finding easy access to either a hand washing station or a hand sanitizer dispenser when you are in the parks. Hand-washing Station Disney is also pushing guests to use Mobile Order as well as the new Mobile Dine Check-In to limit the amount of contact you have with a Cast Member when you are dining. Digital menus are prevalent throughout the resort as well. Learn more about Mobile Dine Check-In here! Consider designating someone in your party to be the “designated safety friend.” In the same way businesses are often delegating an employee to be the resident expert in all things safety these days, it may be a good idea to pick someone in your party to be responsible for checking on everyone throughout the day. A family walking right down the middle of Main Street, U.S.A. This role could take on several responsibilities, whether that’s making sure your hand sanitizer is packed in your park bag and your face masks are clean each night, or learning where all the Relaxation Stations are. This person can also be the one to remind everyone in your party to stay hydrated. We’ve found our masks make it trickier to remember to drink water throughout the day! Relaxation Station And if you plan on enjoying adult beverages, a designated safety friend could REALLY come in handy. It’s shocking how easy it is to forget to sanitize or to practice social distancing if you’ve had a few cocktails, so in the same way you have a designated driver, have a designated safety friend who’s not drinking and helps everyone stay safe when their guards are down! Wondering where all of those Relaxation Stations are? Learn more here! Bring a thermometer and check your temperature before leaving your hotel room. Currently, Disney World is checking everyone’s temperature when entering the theme parks, Disney Springs, or the table service restaurants at the resort hotels. Guests with a temperature that reads 100.4 degrees and above may not enter that area — if fact, their whole party will be denied entry. Temperature Checks at the Polynesian Resort It may be a good idea to bring a thermometer with you in your suitcase and check everyone’s temperature first thing in the morning before heading out of your hotel room. This could end up saving a ton of time if anyone has a fever. If someone does have a high temperature, check again in a few minutes, and in the meantime have that person drink some water or try to cool down. Temperature Checks Note that you DO get a second chance to check your temperature if it registers too high after having a moment to cool down, but the LAST thing you want to experience is being turned away at the gate because someone’s temperature is over the limit. Not because you won’t be able to get into Disney World, but because if they are sick, they could have infected others during the day. Click here to learn more about all things temperature screening at Disney World Disinfect your personal belongings frequently. We all know about washing and sanitizing our hands, but there are lots of other personal items that you touch countless times each day that you should clean frequently! Disney Parks Print Clutch This includes your cell phone, sunglasses, MagicBand, handheld fans, wallet, or anything that you touch multiple times throughout the day (don’t forget those park bags too!). Americana MagicBand You’ll also want to make sure you are cleaning those cloth masks with soap and water if you plan on using them more than once! Pack some disposable sanitizing wipes or a can of disinfectant to give your belongings a quick once over each evening when you return to your room. We definitely like the added sense of cleanliness in everything we do at a reopened Disney World! See what other changes we prefer more NOW here! Double down on sanitizing your hotel room. Disney World is committed to your safety, and there are added cleaning protocols in each and every hotel room. That said, you may feel more comfortable if you take matters into your own hands and double down on sanitizing your room. Bay Lake Tower Again, here’s where those disinfecting wipes come in handy so bring them along in your suitcase! Wipe down any high touch surfaces in your room, such as the sink, your room phone, light switches, or doorknobs. Read more tips here on how to keep your hotel room EXTRA clean here! Bring travel size disinfecting wipes to the parks. Just like wipes can come in handy to disinfect your hotel room, travel size wipes are the newest park essential! Throw a pack in your park bag and wipe down tables before you dine at any snack or counter service dining location. Wipes handed out at Wine Bar George Travel wipes are a quick and easy way to disinfect your hands, too! If you are far from a handwashing station or restroom, or you aren’t particularly fond of the sanitizer used in the parks, having your own wipes or sanitizer will provide added convenience. Check out the NEW park essentials you’ll need at a reopened Disney World here! Bring at least 1-2 extra masks with you PER DAY. You’ll already have a face mask on when you leave your hotel room each morning, but you will definitely want to pack one or two extra masks EACH day in your park bag. Your face mask will be on for the VAST majority of the day, so you’ll want to make sure you pack extras in case it gets wet, you lose a mask, or other accidents happen. Disney Cloth Face Masks According to the CDC, if your face mask gets wet, it should be replaced as it is no longer considered safe and may make it difficult to breathe. Bubblegum Face Mask Your mask may also go missing, like any other loose item! So you’ll want to make sure you have a healthy supply of comfortable face masks to bring with you. To celebrate tonight’s Final of the MLS is Back Tournament between Orlando City SC and the Portland Timbers, Walt Disney World Resort temporarily lit the iconic Cinderella Castle in the two teams’ primary colors – Orlando City’s purple and Portland’s green. The specially colored Cinderella Castle honors the successful return of professional sports and the cast members who helped make the tournament happen, in addition to the improbable and magical tournament success of both teams who, like Cinderella, were not expected to have such a fairy-tale ride through this historic tournament. The tournament, which marked the restart of the league’s milestone 25th season, brought approximately 750 players and 500 MLS staff to ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex for 51 matches in 35 days. Earlier this week, Guinness World Records recognized Major League Soccer (MLS) with the World Record for largest single location professional soccer tournament for the MLS is Back Tournament!
